When "Confessions Of The Fallen" was announced in April, STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis stated about the LP's musical direction: "I did want to modernize the sound and bring us up to date. You can certainly recognize the band but at the same time you can hear that we've been paying attention and understand what kind of sounds and approaches we can use that maybe weren't around the last time we did this."
STAIND has released eight albums since 1995, including 2011's self-titled effort. The band has had a number of hit songs during its first two decades, including the Top 10 smash "It's Been Awhile" from the No. 1 album "Break The Cycle" . Follow-up LPs "14 Shades Of Grey" and "Chapter V" also topped the Billboard chart.
STAIND released its first album in nine years, "Live: It's Been Awhile" , in May 2021 via Yap'em / Alchemy Recordings . The "Live: It's Been Awhile" album was accompanied by "The Return Of Staind" , a two-part global streaming series in partnership with Danny Wimmer Presents .
STAIND and GODSMACK recently completed a 25-city co-headlining 2023 tour, produced by Live Nation . The trek launched on July 18 at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Missouri, with stops across the U.S. before wrapping up in Austin, Texas at Germania Insurance Amphitheatre on August 31.

Staind is a band that I have a lot of respect for. I went to four Staind concerts last year and I was not disappointed for any reason at all at the events.
They always have a decent crowd to be with at their shows and that is why I love being there live. I have no fear that somebody is going to push me in a mosh pit when I don't want to go in.Outside of respectful fans, the band has been putting out excellentusic for over ten years.
They won't just play their new music at live events, they will play lots of songs off of their old albums. I want to go see Staind another four times this year!

Staind Announces Arena Tour with Seether, I Prevail
The rockers of Staind are hitting the road next year for a brief radio arena tour with a stacked lineup.
The eight-date tour kicks-off at Planet Band Camp at St. Augustine Amphitheatre in Florida on April 18, followed by Amalie Arena’s 98 Rockfest in Tampa, WJRR’s Earthday Birthday at Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando, WDHA’s Rock the Rock Fest at the Prudential Center in Newark, and the 98 Rock Spring Thing at CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore.
They’ll also appear at The Big Gig at DCU Center in Worcester and 102.9 HOG FEST at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee before wrapping-up at the 93X Twin City Takeover at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on May 4.
Throughout the run, various bands will provide support, varying per date, including the metalcore groups I Prevail, Asking Alexandria, Dayseeker, and Sleep Theory, the heavy-rockers of Seether, and the ’70s-style glam rockers of The Struts. Grunge-rock’s Aryon Jones, country’s Tim Montana, rock artist Austin Meade, and the all-female rocker group Plush will round out the bill at select shows.
Staind released their eighth studio album, Confessions of the Fallen, in September. This marks the band’s first studio record since 2011’s self-titled. This time around, frontman Aaron Lewis told Blabbermouth that he wanted to “modernize the sound and bring us up to date.”
“You can certainly recognize the band but at the same time you can hear that we’ve been paying attention and understand what kind of sounds and approaches we can use that maybe weren’t around the last time we did this,” Lewis said.
Staind first arrived on the scene in 1995, garnering attention in the early 2000s with hits like “It’s Been Awhile,” “So Far Away,” and “Everything Changes.”

Staind:
Staind’s story began in the New England area when vocalist Aaron Lewis and guitarist Mike Mushok met at a Christmas party in 1993. Mushok was able to bring drummer Jon Wysocki into the fold, and Lewis’ connection with a bass player (who later left) completed the early lineup. Establishing themselves took time, and extensive touring of the Northeast with other established metal acts helped them sell over 2,000 copies of their self-released debut in just over a year. They were primed for their big break, and on October 23, 1997, the hard work paid off. At a show in Hartford, Connecticut, Staind were all set to open for Limp Bizkit when Bizkit singer Durst raised a stink over cover art on Staind’s self-released CD. After a heated conversation over whether or not Staind were Satan worshipers, Durst forcefully returned the disc to the band, and walked away. But 45 minutes later Durst was back, not to further the argument, but to make sure he kept in contact with Staind. Blown away by their live show, Durst exchanged phone numbers, and loved their demo tape when they gave it to him. He convinced them to travel to Jacksonville, Florida, to work on the new songs. Dysfunction After reworking the new material and a successful live show, Durst contacted the head of Flip Records and arranged a meeting for Staind with the label. While in Los Angeles, a three-song sampler was recorded, and by the time February rolled around in 1998, the band had a record deal. After playing the Vans Warped Tour, they began work on their first album, Dysfunction. The album was produced by Terry Date (Deftones, Pantera, Soundgarden) and was released April 13, 1999. A tour with Kid Rock followed that spring and later the band reunited with good friends Limp Bizkit for a summer tour. Break the Cycle Their follow-up, Break the Cycle, enjoyed a prolonged visit at the number one spot on U.S. charts in 2001. Smash hits like “It’s Been a While,” “Fade,” “For You,” and “Epiphany” catapulted Staind into the mainstream, leaving their 2002 DVD MTV Unplugged to go gold. Staind released 14 Shades of Grey in spring 2003, and after a two-year break returned with the chart-topping Chapter V, named to include their self-released debut in the Staind canon. A Singles and Videos compilation arrived in 2006, followed by the all-new studio album Illusion of Progress in 2008, the latter of which debuted at number three on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. The band’s eponymous seventh studio album, which saw the departure of longtime drummer Jon Wysocki, arrived on September 13, 2011. Later that year, the band recruited drummer Sal Giancarelli and hit the road, documenting the tour with 2012’s Live from Mohegan Sun, which captured the tour’s first show.
Seether:
One of the more enduring acts to come out of the post-grunge/alternative metal boom of the early 2000s, South Africa's Seether have managed to remain true to their roots while maintaining enough forward-thinking momentum to stay relevant. The group broke into the mainstream in 2002 with the active rock hit "Fine Again" and cemented their status at the fore of the scene two years later with the international hit "Broken," which featured guest vocals from Amy Lee of Evanescence. Subsequent singles like 2005's "Remedy" and 2007's "Fake It" charted high for such a heavy band, while Seether's full-length work also proved popular: 2011's Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray and 2014's Isolate and Medicate both reached the Top Five in the U.S. The group continued to find success into the next decade, releasing their acclaimed eighth long-player, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum, in 2020.

Rory McIlroy falls back with 77, makes Masters cut

Will go into weekend 10 shots behind leaders
Change Text Size
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Rory McIlroy’s travails at the Masters Tournament continued Friday as he shot a second-round 77 to fall to 4-over par, 10 off the lead.
Although he made the cut in his bid to win the one remaining major he needs for the career Grand Slam, McIlroy struggled along with most everyone else in the whipping winds and lost contact with leaders Max Homa (71), Scottie Scheffler (72) and Bryson DeChambeau (73).
“Tough day, really tough day,” McIlroy said. “Just hard to make a score and just sort of trying to make as many pars as possible. I felt like I did OK. I made that bogey on 14, and even just to par the last four holes and get in the clubhouse and have a tee time tomorrow, I'm sort of pretty happy with. … Scoring was very difficult.
“Yeah, just one of those days that couldn't – I mean, most of the field couldn't really get anything going,” he added. “It was just a matter of trying to hang in there as best you could.”
It’s been a strange season for McIlroy, a three-time FedExCup champion who came into last week’s Valero Texas Open without a top-10 finish on the PGA TOUR in 2024. He made a trip to see renowned swing coach Butch Harmon in Las Vegas, and soon after shot a final-round 66 to finish third at the Valero at TPC San Antonio last weekend.
Things were looking up, but he hasn’t found much at Augusta National. What’s more, his second round with playing partners Scheffler and Xander Schauffele took over six hours, including an impromptu social hour on the 11th tee due to a massive backup on the hole.
“It felt long, yeah,” McIlroy said. “My golf swing felt horrific for the last six or seven holes, just from sitting around. Especially that 11th hole – No. 11 it felt like it took an hour to play that hole.
“Yeah, it was stop and start,” he continued. “Hard to get into a rhythm with the conditions and obviously how slow the play was as well.”
The Masters has been bittersweet for McIlroy. He led going into the back nine on Sunday in 2011 but crumbled and shot 80 to finish T15. He has suffered a series of poor starts here in recent years, dooming his chances to win, despite a memorable final-round 64 to finish second 2022.
He now will need to make a similar climb to get back into the tournament this weekend.
“I won from 10 back in Dubai at the start of the year,” he said. “But obviously the Dubai Desert Classic and the Masters are two very different golf tournaments. We'll see. Hopefully, the conditions are a little better tomorrow. Yeah, I still think I can go out tomorrow and shoot a low one, get back into red numbers, and have half a chance going into Sunday.”
