It's got to be a tough job being Beyoncé in preparation for her Formation World Tour, having to choose between which of her 8 billion hits to play for global audiences. The easiest answer: all of them!

The musician launched the tour at Miami's Marlins Park on 27 April, with the setlist revealing an epic 37-song beast of a show, incorporating swathes of material from each of Queen Bey's eras; including a mash-up of "Drunk in Love" and Kendrick Lamar's "Swimming Pools", as well as the Fifty Shades of Grey remix of "Crazy in Love" with elements of Destiny Child's "Bootylicious".

Opening just a few days after her surprise drop of new album Lemonade , the tour incorporates eight tracks from her dose of new material: "Hold Up", "Freedom", "Sorry", "Don't Hurt Yourself", "All Night", "Daddy Lessons", and "Formation".

Setlist for Formation World Tour

Formation Sorry Bow Down / Tom Ford Run the World (Girls) Mine Baby Boy / Standing on the Sun Hold Up Countdown Me, Myself and I Runnin’ All Night 6 Inch Don’t Hurt Yourself (with elements of “Freakum Dress”) Ring the Alarm Lost Yo Mind / I Been On / Independent Woman / Naughty Girl Diva Flawless (Remix) Feeling Myself (Nicki Minaj cover) Yoncé 7/11 Drunk in Love (with elements of “Swimming Pools”)

Every cameo in Beyoncé's Lemonade

Partition Rocket Hip Hop Star Daddy Lessons Single Ladies Purple Rain (Prince cover) Crazy in Love (2014 Remix) (with elements of “Bootylicious”) Naughty Girl Party Blow Sweet Dreams Die With You Freedom Survivor (Destiny’s Child song) End of Time / Grown Woman (Mashup) Halo

Obviously, this setlist is entirely subject to change as the tour progresses; it'll be interesting to see whether her tribute to Prince, with "Purple Rain" featuring during the concert, was a one-off moment or will become an integrated part of the tour.

The show ended with a performance of "Halo", dedicated to her husband Jay Z ; of particular interest after themes running throughout Lemonade seemed to suggest he may have been involved in an affair.

Beyonce Kicks Off ‘Formation World Tour': See the Opening and Set List

Beyonce kicked off her Formation World Tour on Wednesay April 27 — just days after the massive premiere of her new album, Lemonade (April 23) — in Miami's Marlins Park.

Performing to the sold-out Florida crowd, Queen Bey ran through a whopping 37-song setlist, including new tracks like "Sorry," "Daddy Lessons," "All Night" (which she reportedly cited as her favorite track off the new record) and, of course, "Formation," which she opened with.

Longtime fan-favorite hits including "Naughty Girl," "Crazy in Love," and Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious" were also performed — the latter two tracks mashed up — and famous friends like Rick Ross, Michelle Williams, and (duh) Jay Z were spotted in the front row.

Later in the evening, the artist honored the late Prince with an emotional tribute to "Purple Rain," the first of two tributes she would make. (She covered Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams" six songs later.)

As the concert came to an end, Beyonce closed her set with "Halo," dedicating the ethereal song to her partner. "I wanna dedicate this to my beautiful husband," she reportedly told the crowd. "I love you so much!"

The Formation tour heads across North America for the next two months, and hits the UK on June 28, where she will play six stadium shows. Check out the full list of dates here .

Background [ ]

On February 6, 2016, Beyoncé released " Formation " for free on the music streaming service TIDAL and its accompanying music video on her official YouTube. On February 7, 2016, Beyoncé performed "Formation" during her guest appearance at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show. Immediately after the performance, a commercial aired announcing The Formation World Tour, which would kick off in Miami on April 27, with the first pre-sales going on sale just two days after the announcement on February 9, 2016.

Production and development [ ]

The focal point of the tour's main-stage was a 60 feet tall rotating cuboid, nicknamed the 'Monolith' by designers. The stage also consists of a runway, which also acts as a treadmill leading onto a B-stage that fills with a pool of water. The treadmill on the catwalk was designed to be waterproof in order to withstand unpredictable weather found in outdoor stadiums. The B-stage stores 2,000 gallons of water inside of it and takes approximately 10 minutes to fill up, which occurs without the audience even realizing.

Setlist [ ]

The setlist varies from date to date, but in total it has been composed of 45 songs: 9 from Lemonade , 7 from Beyoncé , 7 from 4 , 4 from Dangerously In Love , 2 from B'Day , 2 from I Am... Sasha Fierce , 2 collaborations, 1 soundtrack song, 1 Destiny's Child song, and 6 other songs that are used as intros/interludes that Beyoncé does not perform.

Bey is back and I'm sleeping real good at night! The Renaissance World Tour is finally here but what songs made the setlist?

Beyoncé is no stranger to being a mysterious girl. Ever since she stopped the world (world stop, carry on) with her self-titled visual album in 2013, she's stopped doing traditional press. However, Beyoncé's Renaissance era is her most mysterious era to date. Since the album dropped, Beyoncé hasn't released a music video.

However, Beyoncé has gone on tour. On May 10, Beyoncé kicked off her highly anticipated Renaissance World Tour to over 50,000 fans in Stockholm, Sweden. The show is now in its US leg and we have the Renaissance World Tour setlist in full.

What songs are on Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour setlist?

Will Beyoncé change the Renaissance World Tour setlist at all?

Unless Beyoncé announces another leg to the tour, the show is now complete and, outside of 'Thique', 'All Up In Your Mind' and 'Drunk In Love' only being performed at select dates, there were no drastic changes to the setlist.

At the start of the tour, there was speculation that Beyoncé might edit the setlist based on the official tour programme. It had an image of what looked like a draft of the setlist for the show. Most of the songs listed in the photo appeared in the show. However, the left side of the photo contained a long list of songs, many of which weren't performed.

It now appears that Beyoncé simply edited the setlist down and gave fans a glimpse of songs that were considered for the show but didn't make the final cut.

For fans wanting more of the Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé has now announced that she is releasing a film based on the tour in cinemas December 1st. To book tickets and find out more visit: beyonce.com .

Beyonce tour

  • Beyonce is the most decorated Grammy winner of all time, with 32 trophies to her name
  • She kicked off her 2023 Renaissance tour in support of her 2022 album of the same name in May 2023
  • The Renaissance tour sweeps through Europe in May and June, and then plays in North America through September

Ladies (and gents), it’s time to get into “Formation”, because Beyonce officially kicked off her highly-anticipated Renaissance tour . The 41-year-old artist began her 50-plus-date tour, which supports her four-time Grammy Award-winning album 2022 album Renaissance , at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. This is her first solo tour since her 49-stop 2016 Formation tour , which ended at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and featured surprise appearances by Kendrick Lamar and her husband, Jay-Z . She then embarked on a joint tour with Jay-Z in 2018 to support their joint album, Everything Is Love . Beyonce spent some quality time with her family following the tour and then returned to the stage after a three-year hiatus via an extravagant concert in Dubai in Jan. 2023.

Beyonce’s Renaissance tour is projected to gross a whopping $2.1 billion on the low end, per Forbes . The outlet reported that the Renaissance tour could earn as much as $2.4 billion by its final show in Sept. 2023, which would out-earn the projected gross of   Taylor Swift ‘s wildly popular Eras Tour by $500 million. Now that’s impressive. Enough about the numbers; let’s dive into everything there is to know about Queen Bey’s Renaissance tour, from the set list to the tour dates and beyond.

The Renaissance tour is pretty epic. according to Rolling Stone . The outlet reported that the set list includes “era-bending mash-ups” and incredible props, including “two swinging robot arms outfitted with two big rectangles that perfectly framed and moved with Beyoncé as she sauntered through the Renaissance highlight.” The robot arms made their debut during the global superstar’s performance of “Cozy”. They came out again to scan a stained-glass graphic onto her white cape ahead of her “Church Girl” performance. She ended the tour by riding the metallic horse that appeared in her promo shots as she sang, “Summer Renaissance”., as seen above. Oh, and did we mention she performs for about three hours? Without giving away too many more spoilers, let’s see the setlist.

Here's what the setlist is likely to be for Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour.

Beyoncé is about to embark on a 48-show world tour starting in May and ending at the end of September 2023.

Following the release of Renaissance, her first solo project since 2016's Lemonade, all talk is about what the tour will look like, considering she has not dropped any visuals thus far.

This includes the track-list for the tour, and considering Bey's huge repertoire of hits, it will be a mission for her to perform a wide range of tunes.

Beyoncé will commence her tour in Stockholm, Sweden and end in New Orleans, however there is strong suspicion that she will also take the Renaissance tour on the road to Australia, Asia and Latin America too.

The singer has a back catalogue of 7 solo albums and a whole multitude of side projects, so it will be tough to see what makes the cut.

So, what songs will Beyoncé be performing? Here's the Renaissance Tour setlist.

Beyoncé Renaissance World Tour Opening Night - Stockholm

Of course Bey will perform the biggest hits and singles from Renaissance, including 'Break My Soul' and 'Cuff It'.

It is also likely she will perform 'Alien Superstar', 'Energy', 'Cozy', 'America has a Problem' and 'Virgo's Groove' to get the party started.

Bey performed in Dubai in January 2023 , but ensured she didn't perform any tracks from Renaissance in order to keep them for the tour.

The singer performed tracks including 'XO', 'Halo', 'Freedom', 'Crazy in Love', 'Drunk in Love', 'Countdown' and 'Naughty Girl', so these are very likely to be on the Renaissance Tour setlist too.

Beyoncé has kept details on the tour (including the setlist) very quiet, so the confirmed songs will come as a surprise to everyone.

Imagine If Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour Setlist Looked Like This

“ Masterpiece, genius. Drip intravenous.”

beyonce formation tour song list

Whether you’ve already cuffed tickets to Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour or are planning how to wiggle your way in last-minute, there’s one major thing left to figure out: Beyoncé’s setlist. The Renaissance World Tour will be Beyoncé’s first time performing anything from her Grammy-winning seventh studio album . The stadium outing also marks her first tour in five years and first solo trek in seven years. And given how she’s released projects like The Lion King: The Gift and its accompanying 2020 film Black Is King during the gap, assembling the setlist will be a doozy. Luckily for Bey, we’ve completed a dream setlist for her to draw inspiration from.

Renaissance was created as a continuous mix when played front-to-back, with jaw-droppingly smooth transitions from songs like “Cuff It” to “Energy” and “Plastic Off the Sofa” to “Virgo’s Groove” becoming album highlights. To align with the megamix spirit and keep those moments in tact, this dream setlist keeps the Renaissance tracklist in order as much as possible. But of course, Beyoncé can’t tour without performing some older hits and fan favorites, meaning some exceptions were made to best incorporate those past songs.

There’s also a section dedicated to The Gift , songs from which Bey performed at her Dubai private concert on Jan. 21, since she reportedly had to cancel a planned 2020 tour in support of Black Is King . Altogether, there are 32 songs on this setlist, which seems like a lot until you remember that Beyoncé regularly performed the same amount on the Formation Tour in 2016 (some songs were shortened, which will likely be the case here as well).

Here’s what the Renaissance World Tour setlist should look like.

1. “I’m That Girl”

Is there any other possible way for the Renaissance World Tour to start other than hearing “These motherf*ckers ain’t stopping me” blaring out of the stadium speakers as Beyoncé makes her grand entrance? The answer is no.

Once she’s established her presence onstage, it’s only natural for Beyoncé to make the crowd feel cozy enough to dance by performing, well, “Cozy.”

3. “Alien Superstar”

During this fan-favorite track , it’s a requirement for Beyoncé to march down the catwalk into the Club Renaissance section and start dancing on the bar, bringing the lyric “stilettos kicking vintage crystal off the bar” to life. Yes, there’s an actual bar in Club Renaissance, according to the seating chart.

4. “***Flawless”

Barbara Ann Teer’s speech heard at the end of “Alien Superstar” would make for an easy transition into the empowering mantras of Beyoncé’s 2013 hit, reminding the audience of how good they look before dancing the night away.

5. “Formation”

Do I even need to explain this choice ?

6. “Cuff It”

After a costume change, Beyoncé should bring back the roller-skating disco from her 2013 “Blow” video for the TikTok-viral Renaissance hit that lends itself perfectly to a ’70s throwback.

7. “Energy”

The seamless, almost unnoticeable transition from “Cuff It” to “Energy” needs to be kept in the show at all costs. But imagine how well the end of “Energy” would sound going into “Crazy In Love.”

8. “Crazy In Love”

Beyoncé is never going to not perform her 2003 debut solo single on tour, and rightfully so.

9. “Get Me Bodied”

Renaissance is all about getting listeners to dance, but back in 2006, nothing got the Beyhive on their feet quite like this infectious B’Day single. It’s time for a “Get Me Bodied” renaissance.

10. “Baby Boy”

Beyoncé’s 1-2-3 punch of “Get Me Bodied,” “Baby Boy,” and “Diva,” complete with remix infusions and expert transitions, has been done on prior tours and should be repeated here. But instead of “Baby Boy” frantically building up to “Diva,” it should lead into “Heated.”

11. “Heated”

More specifically, “Baby Boy” should lead into the rap from “Heated,” as the crowd screams it word for word.

“Move” and “Heated” go hand-in-hand on Renaissance . It’d be a sin to keep these Afrobeats jams apart.

13. “Run the World (Girls)”

“Run the World” was Bey’s first Afrobeats-inspired single, and it’s been a tour staple since its 2011 release.

14. “Naughty Girl”

Beyoncé hasn’t left “Naughty Girl” off her tour setlist... ever. Given how the 2003 hit samples Donna Summer, a huge inspiration on Renaissance , don’t expect her to leave it out now.

15. “Plastic Off the Sofa”

The “Love to Love You Baby” sample in “Naughty Girl” would lend nicely to this Grammy-winning cut from Renaissance .

16. “Virgo’s Groove”

The transition between “Plastic” and “Virgo’s Groove” is the reason why music exists. And while many songs on the setlist are bound to be shortened, every second of this six-minute disco odyssey is required on stage.

Beyoncé previously flirted with disco sounds on this 2013 self-titled deep cut, and there’s no better place to bring it back than right after “Virgo’s Groove,” her disco masterpiece.

18. “Otherside”

Kicking off the segment inspired by Black Is King , Beyoncé should begin the show’s most downtempo segment with the most reflective song on the album, hopefully accompanied by strings, harps, and pianos like she was in Dubai.

19. “Bigger”

Just like in Dubai, the stunning Kiswahili outro from “Otherside” should transition into “Bigger,” her impassioned ballad about dreaming bigger.

20. “Spirit”

Ending the show’s run of ballads with her Lion King soundtrack cut, “Spirit,” should make the Oscars regret not nominating it in 2020. We don’t need a performance of the song that actually got her nominated two years later.

21. “Freedom”

As proven in Dubai, the climax of “Spirit” perfectly blends into Bey’s motivating 2016 anthem from Lemonade. Bonus points if Kendrick Lamar comes out for his verse.

22. “Brown Skin Girl”

If Blue Ivy Carter doesn’t make a guest appearance for the song that made her the youngest Grammy winner in history , like she did at her mother’s Dubai concert, then what’s the point?

23. “Thique”

Going back into Renaissance mode, “Thique” should open the true club segment of the show, with dancers of all shapes and sizes doing their thing.

24. “All Up In Your Mind”

The transition between “Thique” and “All Up In Your Mind” is art, so it must stay intact. Ideally, the dancers would clear the stage, leaving Bey to belt this out solo surrounded by lasers or something even more futuristic.

25. “Sweet Dreams”

Beyoncé performed this electro-pop cut from I Am... Sasha Fierce a grand total of one time on the Formation Tour before removing it from the setlist.

26. “America Has A Problem”

The only problem America will have when Beyoncé performs this track live is the severe amount of dancing and booty-popping that will occur in the stadium.

27. “Pure/Honey”

Bring out all the drag stars, ballroom queens, and voguing experts for this number, and extend both “Pure” and “Honey” until the entire performance is 10 minutes long.

28. “Summer Renaissance”

The pre-encore number (yes, there’s a four-song encore) should obviously be the last song from Renaissance , as Beyoncé serves her best Donna Summer tribute before ascending atop a huge disco ball and blasting off into space (the top of the stage) during the galactic outro.

29. “Church Girl”

The encore is gospel-inspired, ending the Renaissance Tour on a comforting yet motivational note, and you can’t do that without performing “Church Girl,” backed by a full-blown choir.

30. “Drunk In Love”

Inspired by her now-infamous vocal run while performing “Drunk In Love” in Dubai, Bey should embrace the meme and gospel-fy the track with the choir, ending with those heavenly belts to lead straight into her signature ballad.

What’s a gospel segment without “Halo”?

32. “Break My Soul”

Beyoncé should end the Renaissance Tour by reminding the Beyhive to quit the jobs that let them afford tickets to the show. But aside from that message, just imagine Bey, her choir, and the crowd all belting out “You won’t break my soul” in unison, sending us to church before sending us home in better spirits than we left it. There would be no better finale.

Beyoncé may be riding high off Cowboy Carter right now, but Renaissance is the gift that keeps on giving.

In a revelatory conversation with Ahmir Questlove Thompson on his Questlove Supreme podcast, renowned choreographer Fatima Robinson revealed how Beyoncé came up with stage design and concept for the Renaissance World Tour during the pandemic — and why the superstar shifted her approach to dance on her most recent trek.

Beyoncé Achieves Eighth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘Cowboy Carter’

“That was Beyoncé sitting in a pandemic with a lot of time on her hands and coming up with the most incredible, creative stage that I had ever gotten to work on,” Robinson gushed of the Renaissance World Tour stage. The sold-out stadium tour featured two separate platforms connected by a moving ramp, a main stage complete with a sprawling flatscreen, a B stage that stretched into the crowd, and a slew of props including, a tank, pyrotechnics, a laser show, a giant clam shell, robot arms, a flying “disco horse” and various levitating platforms.

Trending on Billboard

“She has quite a few choreographers across her span of music,” said Robinson. “We gave me the title ‘director of choreography’ because I was the point person that all the choreographers worked under and with. It was such a big boulder to get up a hill, that show.”

While Robinson has worked with Beyoncé in the past — most notably on 2006’s Oscar-winning Dreamgirls and her “Be Alive” performance at the 2022 Oscars — she joined forces with several other choreographers for the Renaissance tour, including her two other team members, Chris Grant and four other choreographers who worked on numbers sporadically.

Her first solo concert tour since 2016’s Formation World Tour , the Renaissance World Tour presented a notably different Beyoncé. While the three-hour show was still a feast for the eyes and ears, the performance included less intense choreography than her past tours — partially due to a knee injury she suffered before those 56 sold-out shows.

Robinson’s revelations echo sentiments Beyoncé herself shared in Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé . Throughout the documentary, Queen Bey mused about looking to her idols to inform how she moves in her career. The Renaissance tour was a celebration of that, from a surprise appearance from Diana Ross to a multi-city tribute to the late Tina Turner .

“Look at how Prince was when he passed away, he had those hip replacements because of all those splits and stuff,” noted Robinson. “Look where Michael [Jackson] is. We want you around performing for years to come, so let’s not put that kind of pressure. Let’s ease into it, let’s stand there and be powerful and step into a different kind of power, and guess what? They gon’ come with you!”

That approach to performing also resulted in a very Beyoncé take on the concept of an opening act. For each show, Beyoncé began with a set of ballads , introduced by a beautiful piano-led rendition of 2003’s seminal “Dangerously In Love 2.”

“I turned to her and I was like, ‘This is really fly, starting with ballads,'” recounted Robinson. “She laughed and she said, “I’m opening up for myself!”

In addition to the Renaissance World Tour, Robinson also worked on 2023’s The Color Purple movie musical, which topped the domestic box office on opening day and earned one Oscar nomination (best supporting actress for Danielle Brooks).
