Boots UK is part of the Retail Pharmacy International Division of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. Boots is also one of the UK’s best-known retailers and providers of pharmaceutical, health and beauty products and services.

In partnership with Travel Insurance Facilities PLC, the retailer released its own branded  Boots Travel Insurance , specialising in affordable cover for customers with health problems.

As wells as offering multi-trip and single trip cover, Boots Travel Insurance policies have 5 different levels of cover to choose from: Lite, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Boots Travel Insurance Review

Boots offers a 15% discount across their Travel Insurance policies if you apply online.

  • Boots will cover  many medical conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart conditions and cancer, provided they have been declared and accepted in writing. This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis at the time of application.
  • Boots have no upper age limit on single trip policies, so elderly family members that may not normally be given cover will be covered under a Boots Travel Insurance policy. This includes covering many chronic conditions associated with age, coverage for which will again be assessed on a case-by-case basis at application.
  • Boots offer 5 different levels of cover, ranging from low-cost to highly comprehensive. This allows you to choose the right amount of cover to suit your budget and your needs.
  • Each Boots Travel Insurance policy comes with a standard ‘Activities Pack’ which provides you with cover for around 100 holiday activities. If, however, you would like to be covered for more risky or dangerous activities, you will need to pay more to add different Activity Packs to your policy that cover more activities.
  • Standard Travel Insurance from Boots does not cover you if you are on a cruise. Instead, Boots sells an extension specifically for cruise holidays as well as extensions to cover overseas weddings and golfing events.

  • Platinum and Gold Travel Insurance from Boots includes highly comprehensive cover, especially in terms of cover for injuries and health problems. While abroad, you can claim to replace prescription glasses and medication and if you suffer injury while travelling, you can claim for corrective surgery, physiotherapy, and home help once you return to the UK.
  • Boots offer a range of different policies to cover your travels. In addition to having 5 different levels of cover, they also offer a choice of Single Trip policies, Multi Trip policies, and Longstay policies, all of which can be tailored for couples, families, and students.
  • Boots are willing to cover pre-exisiting medical conditions provided you declare these conditions when you take out your policy. If in the time between taking out your policy and going abroad your health takes a turn, you will need to declare your health problem before leaving on your trip, otherwise you will not be covered for the condition.
  • Lite and Bronze Travel Insurance policies from Boots have very limited cover compared to Gold and Platinum, covering only the basics. For example, they will not cover you if you are mugged or if you need an emergency replacement prescription. However, if you are only looking for a simple policy, Lite and Bronze are the lest expensive options.

  • Existing medical conditions that have been not been disclosed to your insurance provider..
  • If the person injured or the item damaged or lost is involved in a deliberate criminal act.
  • If you have been refused by your carrier to travel for whatever reason.
  • If you were under the influence of non-prescribed drugs, alcohol, or solvents during the incident.
  • Delay, confiscation, detention, requisition, damage, destruction or any prohibitive regulations by Customs or other government officials or authorities of any country.
  • You are travelling against the advice or recommendations published by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office applicable at the time of your departure.
  • Suicide, self inflicted injury, or wilful exposure to danger.
  • You are piloting or travelling in an aircraft that is not licensed to carry passengers.
  • War, terrorism, invasion, revolution, or damage or loss to property while under the order of any government, public or legal authority.

Gadget Cover Exclusions

  • If the damage or lost electronic device is more than 48 months or was not in full working order before travelling.
  • Any theft, loss or damage that occurs to your electronic devices whilst travelling on public transport or on an aircraft unless they are being carried in your hand luggage or on your person.
  • If the electronic item was not purchased in the UK as new or refurbished with evidence of ownership.
  • Any electronic items over the value of your maximum level of cover.

I am a nurse on a covid 19 ward

I am a nurse on a covid 19 ward. I think it is a disgrace that I bought this policy in good faith thinking I was covered by your policy. I bought this policy because Boots is a nmae that can be trusted. Following a heavy night shift, I received an e-mail to say this policy is void and to contact my travel operator. This meant extra pressure to sort out refunds ect. I have had to put your request to one side as I do not have the time to sort this out. As a result, I will never buy a travel insurance policy with your company again.

Purchased this before COVID-19 outbreak for holiday in June. Will have to wait to see whether any of the cover is needed!!

Shocking. As the FCO advise changed to nothing but essential travel Boots said we should still travel as we would not be eligible for a claim purely based on this advice. However if we did travel then we would not be covered as that same FCO advice would void our policy if we went. Very sly. We were showing symptoms of COVID-19 which was the reason we couldn't make our trip and even with a health service overrun with dying patients, they still required a letter from our GP - what GP has the time to write a letter to an insurance company in this time?!? They answered this question with "no GP would have the time." So how do I make my claim with no letter, I asked? No response.... We will wait and see what the outcome of our claims is but the experience has been terrible and customer service from boots an embarrassment to the company in this time of crisis.

Always very pleasant to deal with and so good to actually talk to a real person. Also pricing is fair and reasonable and then I get points loaded onto my card. What’s not to like. Thank you. Zero stars, worst experience I’ve ever had

I had to put one star because it’s not possible to put zero. Quite possibly the worst experience with any company I’ve ever had. Was unfortunately involved in an accident with my girlfriend whilst in Thailand and we both suffered pretty severe injuries racking up a large medical bill that was well within the amount covered by our insurance policy. It was weeks of arguments over the phone whilst we were in the hospital as boots refused to pay the medical fees, leading to myself and my girlfriend (who was wheelchair bound at the time as a result of the accident) being ejected from the hospital without any other accommodation. After a night on the street they finally arranged a hotel for us which given our conditions was not ideal. It was then a further 3 weeks of arguments about repatriation as boots refused to fly us home. 2 years later boots have finally paid the medical bills after 2 years of harassing letters and emails from the hospital financial team. Although I have just received a bill for the interest of £1000 that has built up over the past 2 years that boots have refused to pay. Avoid at all cost!

Total waste of money - do not purchase

This insurance is not from Boots themselves, but a third party company. I purchased this insurance via a comparison site on the 4th of March, for up coming trip to Greece at the beginning of April. I looked over the terms and conditions, and it seemed decent cover. When I purchased the cover, there was a problem with the third party website. But I expected the email would come through, as payment was taken. I queried where the documentation was only to receive it conveniently ( for the insurance company) AFTER the global pandemic had been declared. And dated as such!! (Which seemed a bit underhand to me.) With an email saying you are not covered in the event of a pandemic. I responded querying their decision as I’d bought the cover before the pandemic was declared, and never got a response back!!! I then visited the Boots travel insurance site, and it was plastered with information about NOT being covered. Really nice thanks Boots. I don’t know how Boots can put their historic name to this third party insurance company (TIF group). Who leave their customers out to dry. I suppose they are like most insurance companies, they find a way of avoiding paying out. Will never buy insurance via Boots again.

Planning a holiday is one of the most exciting activities we can undertake, but we all have different ideas about our perfect trip. For some of us a beach holiday in Benidorm is paradise, while others would prefer a trek in Southeast Asia or a mountain climb in Scotland.

Whatever we choose, we should always be cautious about protecting ourselves if something goes wrong, and that’s why travel insurance is so important.

What will travel insurance cover?

Travel insurance is a premium taken out to cover the traveller in the eventuality of something bad occurring during the holiday. Typical occurrences covered by travel insurance include:

  • Flight/holiday cancellation and curtailment
  • Serious injury/illness
  • Loss of baggage/contents
  • Personal liability (injuring someone else)
  • Emergency assistance

Should I always go for the cheapest policy?

Definitely not, unless it covers you for everything you plan to do on the holiday and all eventualities. Cheaper options can sometimes exclude important details and set high excess levels.

What won’t it cover?

These are not concrete examples and all insurers differ, but some reasons why an insurer might not pay out include:

  • In certain circumstances it will not cover extreme sports or expeditions; don’t book a trek to the top of Mount Everest and expect standard insurance to pay out in the event of a disaster
  • Loss of items or injury through negligence such as alcohol
  • Ignoring FCO (Foreign & Commonwealth Office) advice
  • Full cost of valuables (see below)
  • Failure to report crime within a certain time frame

Is travel insurance mandatory?

For the vast majority of countries travel insurance is not mandatory, although for the cost of a few pounds it makes sense to obtain it. There are many factors, such as flight cancellations, crime, bag thefts and political upheaval in a country that are out of the traveller’s control, but will cost them dearly if they are not insured.

Passport controls in some countries, such as Cuba, will ask for proof of insurance before allowing you to enter. When you apply for a visa for Russia, you could be asked to supply evidence of insurance. The simple rule of thumb is to check well before you reach the airport and put steps in place to cover yourself.

When should I take out travel insurance?

From the moment you book, not the start of the holiday. The cost will probably not be too different, and that extra cost will cover you if you have to cancel before the holiday begins. If you decide to undertake a more spontaneous extreme excursion or activity while on holiday, this could be booked a day or two before.

What affects my travel insurance costs?

There are a huge range of factors, such as:

  • The destination itself
  • Type of holiday – cruise, multi-trip, extreme adventure
  • Your health (see below)
  • Gadgets (see below)
  • Length of travel

How will my health affect costs?

There’s no need to reveal every ailment and pain you suffer, but failure to disclose significant conditions such as heart conditions, cancer or diabetes would be folly simply because your cover could be invalidated in the event of a claim and you could face bills of thousands or tens of thousands of pounds. Even if you have been cured of a particular condition, you might still have to declare it.

Previous injuries, illnesses and conditions could be regarded as denoting a higher risk and the downside is that it might drive up your travel insurance costs. An insurer might even refuse to insure you altogether. Some countries such as the US and Canada have particularly expensive medical care, which could also affect the insurers’ decision.

Will travel insurance cover my gadgets?

It depends – some companies will cover laptops, smartphones, cameras and similar, but only up to a certain cost. Consider paying out an additional premium for individual items.

What should I do if I’m travelling to somewhere that becomes dangerous?

Check your policy documents for details of what your insurer will do in the event of trouble. Aim for a tour operator covered by ATOL (UK Civil Aviation Authority), ABTA or similar representative body.

If something happens a few days before you’re due to leave then your first port of call should be the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which regularly updates travellers on travel advice and the current political/economic/social states of countries that might be affected by unrest or freak, dangerous conditions such as earthquakes.

Travel Insurance FAQs

Which? recommends £2 million of medical cover for Europe and £5 million worldwide, £1,500 of cover for baggage and personal belongings, and £3,000 for cancellation or curtailment.

Don’t travel to Europe without an EHIC – European Health Insurance Card. It’s free and in effect gives you access to state–provided healthcare within EEA countries.

The more claims you’ve made in the past, the more expensive your cover is likely to be.

It is not mandatory to take out travel insurance through the airline or travel agent you’ve booked the holiday with. In fact, shopping around may save you money.

Experts warn of six travel insurance mistakes uk holidaymakers frequently make.

New data from GoCompare has highlighted that almost a third of all UK holidaymakers wait until they day they jet off to pick up a travel insurance policy, but experts have warned that leaving it to the last minute can be incredibly risky.

While you can secure insurance up until the point you leave the house for your holiday, failing to do so in good time could mean that you miss out on vital coverage elements.

And there are a number of other mistakes that people make when taking out travel insurance. Thankfully though, the experts at Which? have highlighted six of the most common to help tourists avoid pitfalls when it comes to picking the perfect policy.

1) Don't wait until the last minute -

Which? warn that leaving your policy purchase to the last minute could mean that you end up missing out on certain coverage elements. Cancellation cover, for example, is unlikely to be included if you're securing a policy hours before you fly.

Meanwhile, GoCompare also warn that last-minute insurance could exclude cover for pre-existing conditions. Which? say: "Buying earlier not only means you have more cover, however. You also have the time to shop around for the best cover for the destination you're travelling to and your circumstances."

2) Never buy when you're already abroad -

If you forget to take out cover before embarking on a holiday, most policies are likely to be void and will leave you unable to claim in the instance of an emergency. However, there are some limited options that can be explored if you've left it too late to secure a deal. GoCompare say that people can buy specialist post-departure insurance which provides the same level of cover as a standard travel insurance policy.

This is only available from select smaller companies though, so you'll end up with less choice and may pay more than you would for a standard policy. You may also have to wait 24, 48 or 72 hours before coverage starts too in an anti-fraud measure to stop people taking out policies after a problem has already incurred.

3) Declare your conditions -

Which? say: "It can be tempting not to mention pre-existing medical conditions when buying a new travel insurance policy. That's because they can push up the cost of premiums or mean you can't make any claims that relate to the condition. In March 2023 we surveyed 2,458 policyholders with a medical condition or a history of one, and 36% reported problems buying cover.

"Expensive premiums were the most common complaint. But lying about your health issue could result in your travel policy being invalidated and means you have to cover the cost of any medical expenses needed on your trip yourself. In some cases, costs can quickly escalate to tens of thousands of pounds."

4) Don't exceed policy limits -

While many people will lay on golden beaches for a fortnight while on holiday, others may want to take part in exciting activities. But beware that not all sports are covered by standard travel insurance. While many policies will cover you for cycling, diving, kayaking and water sports, they may not allow you to claim for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding.

You'll usually have to buy an add-on for this. Which? also warn that hiking may not be covered because long-distance walks in remote areas and reaching high altitudes increase the likelihood of needing urgent medical help or assistance - like an air ambulance.

5) Your trip could be too long -

Annual policies may make people assume that they are covered for any length of trip - but this is not the case for a number of insurers. Many will put a time limit on how long they will cover per trip - usually 31 days - so if you want to travel for more than a month you'll have to take out a long stay policy.

Beware though that this type of policy will not cover multiple trips, just one long getaway.

6) Special cruise cover -

Many tourists won't realise that you need specialist insurance when travelling on a cruise. These are designed to cover problems at sea or missed port departures. The policy is often mandatory, and a cruise operator may refuse boarding without it. Thankfully though, you can often buy an add-on to a normal policy for this, or take out a specialist policy altogether.

On getting the best policy for your needs, Which? say: "As always, the first step is to shop around for the best deal. Price comparison sites allow you to view multiple travel insurance quotes at a glance and also include policies for high-risk countries. The main ones for insurance are Compare the Market, Confused.com, GoCompare and MoneySuperMarket.

"Once you've found a deal that is right for you, check how Which? reviewed the provider and policy . Finally, check the policy wording carefully before you buy, as well as any general exclusions and conditions."

UK-wide ban on wet wipes containing plastic to be put into law

The UK Government will introduce new world-leading legislation to ban wet wipes containing plastic.

The UK Government will introduce new world-leading legislation to ban wet wipes containing plastic, the Environment Secretary has confirmed today (22 April 2024). 

Defra intend to bring forward the legislation for England ahead of summer recess, with Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales following by the autumn as part of an aligned approach to bring the ban into force.

Wet wipes containing plastic break down into microplastics over time, which research shows can be harmful to human health and disrupt our ecosystems – with a recent survey showing an average of 20 wet wipes were found per 100 metres of beach surveyed across the UK*.

Once in our water environment, wet wipes containing plastic can accumulate biological and chemical pollutants, increasing the risk of harm to the animals and humans who encounter them.

Banning them will reduce plastic and microplastic pollution and reduce the volume of microplastics entering wastewater treatment sites when wrongly flushed – meaning our beaches and waterways will benefit from the ban.

Responses to the public consultation showed overwhelming support for the proposed ban – which will be introduced via secondary legislation under our Environmental Protection Act 1990 – with 95% of respondents agreeing or strongly agreeing with the proposals. The government’s response has been published today alongside the Welsh Government, Scottish Government and Northern Ireland Executive.

Marking Earth Day 2024 , with its theme of ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, the response sets out next steps to deliver the ban, building on action taken across the UK to tackle plastic pollution.   

Environment Secretary Steve Barclay said:

Wet wipes containing plastic are polluting our waterways and causing microplastics to enter the environment. Defra will introduce legislation before the summer recess to crack down on this unnecessary source of pollution, following our successful single-use carrier bag charge and ban on microbeads in personal care products.   
I have been clear that a step change is needed to protect our waterways from pollution. The ban builds on a raft of actions already taken to protect our waterways and hold water companies accountable - including accelerating investment, putting water company fines back into the environment and quadrupling the number of inspections of water company sites.

Plastic-free wet wipes are readily available and several retailers have already stopped selling wet wipes containing plastic.   

Steve Ager, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Boots, said:

Boots removed all wet wipes containing plastic from sale in stores and online last year as part of our long-standing commitment to sustainability and working with suppliers and customers to reduce the use of plastic.
We are pleased to see the government now taking action as a ban on all wet wipes containing plastic will have a much bigger impact than retailers taking action alone. We all have a collective responsibility to protect the environment and support a healthy planet.

Luke Emery, Plastics and Packaging Director at Aldi, said:

The removal of plastic from Aldi wet wipes two years ago has been positive for our customers and the environment.
It has removed an estimated 7,000 tonnes of unnecessary plastic from the system and has been welcomed by Aldi shoppers. We support the introduction of this new legislation and the positive impact it will have for everyone.

An 18-month transition period will start from when legislation is passed to allow businesses time to prepare. Following consultation with industry, the ban will not include the manufacture of these products, in line with other recent single-use plastic bans.

However, the government will continue to encourage manufacturers to move to a position where all their wet wipes are plastic free.   

The government response also sets out exemptions to ensure that wet wipes containing plastic remain available where there is no viable alternative – such as for medical disinfectant purposes. The Government will review the need for these exemptions regularly.

Notes to editors:

Today’s announcement follows recent measures delivered to improve the water environment, including:  

  • A new £11m Water Restoration Fund to reinvest water company fines and penalties back into the water environment.   
  • Requiring companies to monitor 100% of storm overflows in England - providing a complete picture of when and where sewage spills happen.      
  • Removing the cap on civil penalties for water companies and broadening their scope so swifter action can be taken against those who pollute our waterways.      
  • Requiring the largest infrastructure programme in water company history - £60 billion over 25 years – to revamp ageing assets and reduce the number of sewage spills by hundreds of thousands every year.       
  • Increasing protections for coastal and estuarine waters by expanding the Storm Overflow Discharge Reduction Plan, prioritising bathing waters, sites of special scientific interest and shellfish waters.   
  • A targeted plan to better preserve and protect the River Wye, including £35m in funding.  
  • Speeding up the process of building key water supply infrastructure, including more reservoirs and water transfer schemes. 
  • The government also continues to support Water UK’s ‘Bin the Wipe’ campaign to address the environmental and drainage impacts of flushing wet wipes. Advice is clear that only the 3 P’s (Pee, Poo & [toilet] Paper) should ever be flushed down a toilet.

*For the period 2015 to 2020, an average of 20 wet wipes were found per 100m of beach surveyed across the UK according to Defra Beach Litter Monitoring Data.

I have been trying to get my policy…

I have been trying to get my policy changed to a different destination since the beginning of January 2022. I have been promised new paperwork will be sent and I have not received anything. I have emailed twice, phoned 3 times and got nowhere. I have no idea about my insurance and we are due to travel on 25th April 2022. Disgusting service. Update - I eventually got through to someone who then told me my policy was cancelled and they would give me 50% of my money back !!!! I complained obviously and was told to write to the underwriters - they gave me an email address that does not work ! So now I have to try and call them again - horrendous service.

Boots Insurance is Perfect.

I have been with Boots Insurance for a few years now & have no issues whatsoever. You are not expensive & with an extra issue this year, I don't think the insurance price went up much at all. I only have 1 comment, when checking my health details over the phone, 1 of your male colleagues went into v thorough detail re my breast cancer which happened in 2001- was it a lumpectomy or a mastectomy, did I get lymphodema, how long was I off work for etc & no interest in my brain tumour which occurred in 2006. Seemed a wee bit odd as the breast cancer was 19 years ago. Apart from that all is perfect

Good price, clear what is and isn't covered, but a bit preachy since. I got an email after lockdown telling me that Covid related flight changes weren't covered. I already knew this, felt like being preached at, the language was pretty aggressive and unnecessary. The same message could have been conveyed in better English

A really decent quote, easily obtained online

I applied online, for a holiday I am taking next year. It was very easy to obtain a quote and that quote was actually cheaper than the one i'd got last year (which wasn't used due to CV19, and not refunded). Am obviously unable to add anything extra at the moment because i've not actually used the product. I just wish to be reassured that it will cover for Covid 19!!!

Boots insurance a top choice

This policy was perfect for my situation with chronic health issues albeit under control. The call centre staff could not have been more sympathetic and helpful. They made me feel completely at ease. But the icing on the cake was that when confronted with a family emergency abroad that forced us to extend our trip, Boots stood 100% behind us even at height of corona virus crisis. I for one will not forget that and happy to give the strongest possible recommendation for Boots Travel Insurance. Thank you and well done.

Boots Travel Insurance is the best

We have used Boots travel insurance for many years now mainly due to feeling confident in their policies and also the policy wording is very easy to understand. We always phone them each year to declare our medical conditions and it’s so easy to do. Everyone we speak to is very pleasant and well mannered. It’s so simple with no lengthy conversation. Whilst we have never had to claim we feel confident that should we need to the help would be there. On a really positive note we get frequent user discount every time we book. We would never use any other company.

Reliable Company Brand

Due to the global pandemic faced by us all, our holiday had to be cancelled last year and Boots made a no quibble refund of our travel insurance. This, coupled with the trusting brand of the company and the good value for money, was the reason for choosing Boots once again for this year's travel insurance.

Excellent insurance, considering it's Boots'!

In my eyes, the Boots brand has deteriorated markedly in recent years. I would never go to them as first choice to buy an off-the-shelf brand of medication. I find them expensive, and the look of their stores is sad and outdated. So, when I was looking for travel insurance for my elderly wife and me, I did not take Boots Travel Insurance as a serious option. However, once I saw the cost of rival insurances, I looked again and I was VERY pleasantly surprised! I like the idea that they ask about prescribed medication rather than medical conditions. The premium quoted was very reasonable indeed, and for only a few pounds more I could make it an insurance for 12 months. Well done, Boots Travel Insurance - you've "rescued" the brand!!

Covid and holiday cancellation

Difficult one for me with this one as we were going with another company but had to cancel with them due to Covid and holiday cancelled and they could not transfer as year ahead, so money back, they emailed me with a new quote, but it was doubled? Covid or not that was taking the pee, tried to phone them, no answer, left message, no replies... OK, ring you guys and although not cheap, decided to go ahead, as we reset the holiday, end of..... 🤔

Efficiently dealt with my problem

For a few years now we have used Boots travel insurance. We took out an annual policy this year at the beginning of March. Due to the current circumstances we will be cancelling all travel plans for this year. Boots emailed me saying that they will extend the cancellation period to 28 days from 14 days. I have therefore just now cancelled this policy. I spoke with an adviser (Alexander) on the phone as I was being quoted an incorrect cancellation amount on the website. Alexander dealt with this efficiently and promptly refunded me the full amount over the phone and sent an email confirming.

Cover after a Transplant

I was so pleased to find that I could buy travel insurance at a reasonable price after having a transplant 3 years ago. I am looking forward to being able to have a holiday again and am very pleased that Boots recognise that having had an illness does not mean that you continue to be ill, far from it I am fit healthy and well.

Last year I took out Boots Insurance…

Last year I took out Boots Insurance Policy for a single trip, but unfortunately had to cancel due to a one-off illness. I claimed and was given a payment. Very pleased with the response. Only one criticism. The address on the website for sending all the documents was incorrect. Fortunately I had sent my registered mail with a return address on the back of the package. Boots apologised for the error and this was sorted. I have since taken out an annual travel insurance with Boots, as I have every confidence in them.

My experience was just great, the assistant was easy to understand, explained all the steps as we went through the questions. Will always use Boots travel since they came to my assistance 16 yrs ago at a VERY traumatic time in my life while flying out of Heathrow.

I renew my annual travel policy every…

I renew my annual travel policy every year. The process is efficient and the policy is great value. I also get Advantage card points and my colleague discount. Every Boots employee or retired staff should use this excellent policy.

Policy Exclusions not Clear

We purchase their platinum policy in Sept 2019 for our planned trip in July 2020, long before Covid-19 was with us. In their policy wording, there is nothing stating that they policy does not cover force majure, pandemics or cancellation due to FCO restrictions. Very disappointing that such an exclusion was not stated in the documents provided.It would be an interest test to see if by omitting such an exclusion, it should actually be deemed to be included?

Boots policy has very unclear wording

Boots policy has very unclear wording. It seems holiday travel is NOT covered if impacted via CV19 and FCO advice. If FCO advise not travelling, Boots will not cover you if you do travel, BUT crucially will not accept claims for holiday cancellation due to FCO. Seems they want their cake and to eat it.

Absolutely diabolical

Absolutely diabolical. Purchased travel insurance when I booked my holiday pre covid in 2019, booked to travel 2020. I did not go on this holiday due to covid the holiday was amended to 2021, message sent to boots and spoke to someone who advised it will be transferred over and they will Be in contact. Nothing heard checked online still No details have changed, I have sent over all the documents asked for via email and instead of changing this they have deleted my information on the portal and are just ignoring my communication. Sorry boots but this is disgusting!!

My daughters wedding was also cancelled so never even thought of checking if I would get a refund, that is something I believe everyone is watching for future businesses how they deal with these circumstances and how we shop in future. As I have not yet had need to make a claim on my insurance I can only talk about the process of actually buying the insurance. Hence why I have given 4 stars. I found the process of applying for the insurance simple and straight forward and easy to understand. I was reassured by the fact that it was Boots who were offering the insurance and that I knew and respected the companies who were the underwriters. Charges were also very reasonable with good levels of cover.
