Big Bus Tours
Big bus tours’ launches new app with enhanced ‘live map’ real-time bus tracking to aid tourists on route.
Big Bus Tours, the largest global operator of premium open-top sightseeing tours, has launched a ‘re-imagination’ of its app today, at WTM 2017 in Excel, London. It follows the company’s launch of an industry game-changing consumer website earlier this year, as Big Bus Tours was the first travel company in the UK (and first open-top sightseeing tour operator worldwide) to release on the Magento 2.0 e-commerce platform.
The all new Big Bus Tours app is an interactive city companion featuring exciting tour routes and itinerary suggestions for city visitors, with detailed maps that accurately pin point Big Bus stops, including walking directions to the nearest stops. The app also features fascinating facts on the biggest and best city attractions, helping customers to get under the skin of each city and plan where to hop on and discover local landmarks, and where to hop off and explore their holiday destination. Now featuring ‘Live Map’ with enhanced real-time bus tracking, the innovative app enables travellers & tourists to maximise their time during their city break, whilst tracking where their next bus is, on route.
The fully interactive app has a new look and navigation feel, with a dynamic home screen that tailors content to customer preferences, delivering the right messages and merchandising at the right time. Utilisation of mobile marketing automation also allows Big Bus Tours to trigger personalised messages based on events and activities, identified by customer preferences and their location. The multi-functional app also provides push notifications to customers, informing them of special offers and service messages including daily detours and stop closures. Responsive two way messaging allows customers to get in touch with Big Bus Tours, prior to, and during, their tour, and enables customers to receive a push notification when they receive a response.
Big Bus Tours is the first open-top bus tour company to implement real-time bus tracking globally, and bring route maps to life. The new ‘live map’ digital experience comes as Big Bus Tours adapts to the fast-evolving digital needs of domestic and international travellers – ensuring a seamless journey for all customers on the go.
Real-time bus tracking, leverages ‘Greenroad’, Big Bus Tours’ existing on-board fleet safety and GPS system, enabling customers to not only track where their next bus is in real-time, but also identify which route the bus is on, and where it is heading too. It is the first time the safety system has been utilised for a customer-centric purpose. Following recent customer feedback, Big Bus Tours have made it easier to determine if the tracked bus is heading the customer’s way, with directional arrows on the routes.
Alex Payne, CEO of Big Bus Tours said “With the average city break being 3-4 nights, we wanted to help our customers maximise their short stay and enjoy all aspects of the world-famous cities they are visiting, whether they want to hop on and discover the sites, or hop off and explore the sites. The new improvements to the mobile app, as well as the enhanced ‘Iive map’ feature on the Big Bus Tours app, offers the most up-to-date real-time information, helping customers take control of their travel and time whilst on holiday – customers can decide if they have time to take that all important selfie, sit back and enjoy a coffee, or wander around city landmarks without worry.”
“For our on-street customer service representatives, real-time bus tracking helps answer the most common and pressing customer question on the lips of our 4.9 million global customers of when will the next bus arrive?” He added
A one-stop-shop for route planning, including the enhanced real time bus tracking ‘live map’ and helpful information on local shopping, dining, landmarks and attractions, the Big Bus Tours app acts as the perfect travel companion for tourists looking for a quick city guide.
The Big Bus Tours App is available for download for free from the App Store and Google Play from December 2017.

Absolutely the best
After researching both major tour buses for NYC (big bus tours and gray line), I decided on Big Bus because their fleet is 100% wheelchair/scooter accessible. We visited from Nov 7-11. The app was very handy. The staff at Madame Toussauds were great and gave helpful information. The bus reps at the stops very very helpful making sure we were all on the correct bus and were very accommodating to us. We had a large 16 person party and one scooter. The guides were funny and entertaining. Some were better than others but we enjoyed all of them. Each offered different information along the tour and all made sure we were comfortable and had earbuds. I was so worried after reading mixed reviews, but we were completely satisfied with this company and would recommend it! The bus stops were easy to find. We had NO problems at all hopping on and off and we did that a lot. We did the downtown tour two days and the uptown tour one day. We skipped the night tour and the cruise because it was so cold when we visited. Buses ran so frequently we never waited more than a few minutes at each stop/pick up. I would absolutely recommend this company!!
Fun service sometimes hard to find the stops
My family had only one day in London and this was a great option to get around freely while also seeing the top sightseeing attractions. Audio tour was okay but would have loved a really person presenting. Did the walking tour with Julia, she was amazing, very informative and funny. Only think I had trouble with was knowing the right stops. I using both the paper and the phone and still had trouble with getting to the right stops. Then also transferring from the red line to the blue line was also difficult. But overall a great option to do when in London and just want to try and see as much as you can! Also, River cruise is a must! The live tour guide was funny and very informative. Both highlights where the walking tour and the river cruise!

Not sure I’d call it Hop on Hop off
We purchased a two day pass & good thing. The app worked great on Sunday; we could see when busses were arriving, how much time we had before it arrived etc but by Day 2 (Monday), the app was not working at all. We couldn’t even plan to utilize the other perks that came along with purchasing a deluxe pass b/c you never knew when your rude would show up?! There was no way to know when the next bus would arrive. It was taking over an hour & a half for the next bus to arrive. For this reason we had to skip our next 2 desired stops b/c we didn’t want to get stranded & had made plans to meet up with friends later. In fact, once we arrived at Pier 39; we ended up taking a taxi to our hotel near Union square since we were told they needed to sanitize the bus which is understandable, but would have to wait 30 min before we could leave. Obviously it became apparent that they don’t run multiple busses on weekdays. Next time I’ll wait until the cable cars are operational or spend my $ on a taxi driver to take me around to see the sights.

Video: Colorado school bus aide charged with assaulting nonverbal 10-year-old
by: Maddie Rhodes
Posted: Apr 11, 2024 / 12:56 AM EDT
Updated: Apr 11, 2024 / 12:56 AM EDT
Editor’s Note: The video above contains graphic content that may disturb some viewers.
DENVER ( KDVR ) — A Colorado school bus aide caught on video punching and stomping a nonverbal 10-year-old student last month has been fired and arrested.
Kiarra Monte Laron Jones, 29, a paraprofessional who worked for Littleton Public Schools, has been charged with one felony count of third-degree assault against an at-risk person in connection with the March 18 incident, according to court records.
Jones was seen on the video punching an at-risk student and pushing, hitting and touching him in an unwelcoming way, according to the affidavit.
The child’s mother, Jessica Vestal, spoke at a press conference on Tuesday, demanding accountability from the Littleton school district.
“If I could say one thing to Littleton Public Schools, it would be, ‘How dare you? How dare you fail my son in such an astonishingly preventable way?'” Vestal said.
The law firm Rathod Mohamedbhai LLC announced that it’s representing three families within Littleton Public Schools following the alleged abuse on a school bus. The law firm claims the bus aide physically and mentally abused children with severe autism and nonverbal communication.
According to the law firm, the alleged abuse has been happening for months, with signs dating back to September 2023. The affidavit also says that there was footage of three assaults occurring in February and March.
The boy’s mother said the repeated assaults could have been prevented.
“Had bus footage been routinely audited, the torture and torment of my sweet boy could have been stopped,” Vestal said.
Schools respond after alleged abuse on bus
Parents said Littleton provides the bus their children ride to The Joshua School, which serves children with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities, as the public school district does not provide the services their children need.
During the news conference, the parents praised the service provided by The Joshua School and said their concern is centered around the bus rides to and from school.
The signs started as families noticed shifts in behavior, physical injuries, unexplained scratches, bruises, a lost tooth, a broken toe, a black eye and other deep bruises on their bodies and feet, according to the law firm. The firm said Littleton Public Schools reviewed a video from one day on the bus and determined there was nothing to be concerned about.
The law firm has a cell phone recording of surveillance video taken from inside the bus . That surveillance video shows a woman, as the law firm said, repeatedly hitting, punching and stomping on a 10-year-old boy.
The parents of two other children came forward as well, saying their nonverbal kids with autism had been physically abused too. The parents said they had been asking for an investigation for months, but little was done to stop the abuse.
“We often have to do a lot of fact-finding to find sources of bruises, illness and injury, and the last several months have been nothing but that,” another alleged victim’s mother said.
Littleton Public Schools sent a letter to The Joshua School community and said Jones was hired in August and terminated on March 19, the day the district said it learned about the accusations.
“This kind of behavior cannot be and is not tolerated. As parents, you trust us with the well-being of your children and you should never have to worry about them being harmed when they are in our care,” the district said in the letter.
Attorneys say the entire district failed to protect the students on the bus.
“We expect there to be long-term care needs for the children. We expect there to be long-term care needs for the families,” attorney Edward C. Hopkins Jr. said.
The law firm is calling for the Colorado legislature to create a law ensuring safety. Attorneys said they want Littleton Public Schools to be held accountable for what happened but have not yet filed a lawsuit.
The Joshua School also released a statement to Nexstar’s KDVR on Tuesday, saying it is “devastated about these terrible incidents involving the LPS employee.”
“We share in our families’ outrage and disappointment upon learning of these abuse allegations against our students,” the school said in a statement.
“We were first made aware of bruising by the mother of a student in January of 2024. Self-injurious behavior and unexplained bruising are not uncommon in our students, but because of the concern of a mother trying to identify the source of her child’s injuries, we contacted the school district to request a review of transportation footage for anything out of the ordinary. At that time, LPS assured us that nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. We then continued to communicate and work with the mother to identify the source of her child’s injuries,” the statement continued.
The Joshua School also said it’s cooperating with the Englewood Police Department, which confirmed Jones’ arrest. The investigation started with the Littleton Police Department but was then moved to the Englewood Police Department, where the alleged assault occurred.
“We at the Englewood Police Department understand the severity and the devasting impact this case has on the victims, their families, and the entire school community and we are here to provide additional resources to those affected,” the department said in a statement. “Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of the victims, their families, and all others associated with the school. Upholding the integrity of this case is crucial to ensuring justice for all involved and preventing any recurrence.”
The 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said Jones was released on a $5,000 surety bond, must comply with a mandatory protection order and cannot leave the state. Court records show she is due in court in May.

Charging elephant kills an American woman on 'bucket list trip' in Zambia
An American woman who was on what she had called her "last big trip" was killed when a charging elephant flipped over the car she was traveling in at a national park in Zambia .
The “aggressive” creature buffeted the vehicle carrying six tourists and a guide, tour operator Wilderness said in a statement Tuesday. It said the 79-year-old victim died after Saturday's incident on a game drive at the Kafue National Park in western Zambia.
The company did not name the victim but Rona Wells, her daughter, identified her as Gail Mattson in a post on Facebook. She said her mother died in a “tragic accident while on her dream adventure.”
A video circulating on social media apparently showing the incident shows a large elephant running toward a car, which slows down as the animal approaches its left side. The elephant then flips the vehicle over and the passengers can be heard gasping as the car rolls over.
NBC News does not know the condition or identity of the person who filmed the video.
Photos shared online of the car, which is emblazoned with the logo of the tour operator, show it tipped onto its side after the incident, with a deep dent in two of its side doors.
Wilderness, which describes itself as a “leading conservation and hospitality company” operating in eight African countries, including Zambia, did not respond to NBC News when asked to confirm the authenticity of the video and the photos.
But the tour operator’s CEO, Keith Vincent, said in the statement that the company’s “guides are all extremely well trained and experienced.”
"Sadly in this instance the terrain and vegetation was such that the guide’s route became blocked and he could not move the vehicle out of harm’s way quickly enough,” he added.
Another woman was also injured in the incident and taken to a medical facility in South Africa, the Wilderness statement said, adding that four others were treated for minor injuries.
“It’s extremely rare to see an elephant that irate,” Marlon du Toit, a wildlife photographer and safari guide, told the “TODAY” show Thursday. “Across Africa, there are thousands and thousands of guests on safari on a daily basis with no negative consequences.”
The exact cause of Mattson’s death was unclear, but the company said her body would be repatriated to her family in the United States with the support of local Zambian authorities and the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Lusaka.
“This is a tragic event and we extend our deepest condolences to the family of the guest who died,” the statement added.
NBC News has reached out to Mattson's family for further comment.
Kafue National Park is Zambia’s largest and oldest national park, according to its website, and spans an area of more than 8,000 square miles. Vast regions of the park remain unexplored and the website says it is home to a variety of untamed wildlife.
A 'bucket list trip'
Mattson spent her winters in Sun City West, Arizona, playing bridge and cards, but during the rest of the year, she "travels all over the world," her friend Brenda Biggs told NBC News. Biggs and her husband, John Longabauth, became friends with Mattson when they moved to the area 6 ½ years ago.
Longabauth said Mattson spoke to the couple about her upcoming safari trip about two weeks ago, and called it "one of her bucket list trips." He said she was very excited for the adventure.
Before she left, she gave the couple concert tickets for a show that would happen while she was traveling, telling them to enjoy the concert and "I'll see you when I get back," Longabauth recalled of the conversation.
Biggs said Mattson, who was almost 80 years old, told her that the African safari was her "my last big trip." She said Mattson was "super excited because it was like the culmination of all the trips that she had gone on."
An avid traveler, Mattson took to trips to Europe and Asia, Longabauth recalled, noting that she might have been to South America, too.
Biggs called her friend "flamboyant," "friendly" and "fabulous" and said she loved bright colors. Mattson had taken over Biggs’ job as the event planner for their 200-member bridge club, she said.
"Gail was one of the more up people you'd ever want to meet," Longabauth said. "She was always up. She was always optimistic. She was always seeing the good side of everybody."

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:
From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.
At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.
According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.
The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Just a Few of the Biggest Concert Tours of 2024, from Olivia Rodrigo to Bad Bunny
Posted: April 10, 2024 | Last updated: April 10, 2024
Listening to your favorite musician at home is fun, but there's nothing quite like the experience of singing along with them, and tons of more fans, live. And as luck would have it, 2024 is shaping up to be a massive year for some of the world's top musical acts, so chances are your favorite performer might be stopping at a city near you soon.
Ahead, we rounded up some of the biggest concert tours of 2024, ranging from Taylor Swift's mega-popular Eras Tour to Drake and J. Cole's exciting It's All A Blur Tour - Big as the What?—set to kick off this winter. You can also expect tour dates from classic icons like Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and more.
1) Taylor Swift
Undoubtedly one of the biggest concert tours ever, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour will continue right through 2024. The international leg of the tour kicked off in Japan, where she played four shows in Tokyo. She'll also stop in Melbourne, Singapore, Paris, Madrid, London, Milan, and more before returning to the States to play in the fall.
There's nothing like seeing T. Swift IRL, but don't fret if you're unable to nab tickets—the Eras Tour movie is now available to stream from the comfort of your home.
2) Olivia Rodrigo
This is not a drill—"Drivers License" singer Olivia Rodrigo will be hitting the road on tour starting at the end of February. The Guts World Tour runs from February through mid-August and has dates in Nashville, Toronto, Chicago, and New York City, among others. Even cooler? Rodrigo will have a stacked list of special guests—like PinkPantheress, Remi Wolf, The Breeders, and Chappell Roan—with her.
3) Red Hot Chili Peppers
Did you hear the good news? The Red Hot Chili Peppers have extended their global tour through summer 2024. The buzzy stadium tour, which kicked off in June 2022, will now run until July 2024 and bring the California-based band to places like Los Angeles, Tampa, Toronto, and Salt Lake City.
4) Bad Bunny
It's fitting that "Monaco" rapper Bad Bunny titled his tour Most Wanted —it's slated to be one of the year's hottest tours. Planned to help promote his latest studio album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana , Most Wanted will kick off in Salt Lake City on February 21 and run through May 26.
5) Billy Joel
If you haven't yet seen Billy Joel perform live, there's still time! The Piano Man has added more tour dates to his schedule, stopping in cities like Tampa, New York, Denver, and St. Louis this year. Even more exciting? He'll share the stage with fellow iconic performers Sting and Stevie Nicks for some of these dates.
Mitski recently announced that she's expanding her North American tour dates , and we couldn't be more excited. The months-long tour, which supports her 2023 studio album The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, has a long list of stops, including Miami Beach, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and Paris.
There's nothing quite like a Madonna concert, that's for sure. The singer's Celebration Tour , which started last October, continues straight through the spring with dates in Seattle, San Francisco, Mexico City, and more. Besides her eye-catching sets, chart-topping songs, and impressive choreography, concertgoers also get a glimpse of the performer's fantastic costumes, which include looks from Versace and Jean Paul Gaultier.
8) Bleachers
The New Jersey-founded rock band, which is fronted by Jack Antonoff—known for producing albums for top acts like Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Lana Del Rey—not only has announced a new album but a new tour , too. The tour will start in the UK in March, ending fittingly in the band's home state of New Jersey in mid-June. Check out their newly released music video for "Tiny Moves" if you need a Bleachers fix in the meantime.
9) Nicki Minaj
Nicki fans rejoice: the rapper and singer might be coming to a city near you soon as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. The massive tour will include performances in Brooklyn, Oakland, and Baltimore, with stops at Dreamville Festival and Rolling Loud California along the way.
10) Blink 182
Live out all of your nineties and early aughts pop-punk dreams with one of Blink 182's One More Time Tour dates. The tour, which supports the band's ninth studio album, One More Time..., will bring the trio to cities all over the globe, including Sydney, Santiago, Portland, and Boston. The tour's supporting act is Pierce the Veil, which is also worth checking out.
11) Stevie Nicks
The oh-so-magical Stevie Nicks continues her touring streak with a bunch of 2024 concert dates . Set to begin in Atlantic City, NJ on February 10, Nicks will visit a dozen cities throughout the U.S. this year, such as New Orleans, Omaha, and Chicago. "Let's keep this party going in 2024," the singer-songwriter posted on her Instagram in September to announce the newly added tour dates.
12) The 1975
The 1975 is showing no signs of slowing down. The British band, famous for hits like "Somebody Else" and "Robbers," has extended their 2023 tour through 2024. Titled Still...At Their Very Best , the 22-date tour will open in Glasgow on February 8 and conclude in Amsterdam on March 24.
13) Drake and J. Cole
Rap greats Drake and J. Cole come together for the It's All a Blur Tour – Big As the What? which is guaranteed to be a good time. Drake, fresh off his 2023 It's All a Blur tour with 21 Savage, is set to hit dozens of cities starting in February, many of which J. Cole will also be in tow for. Scoop up tickets ASAP, as Drake's shows are known to sell out.
14) Janet Jackson
Superstar Janet Jackson is also extending her 2023 tour, Together Again , into 2024 with dates in Anaheim, Austin, New Orleans, and Hartford. Even cooler? Jackson's supporting act is the 2000s southern rap legend Nelly.
15) Rolling Stones
If you've ever dreamed of seeing the Rolling Stones perform live in person, now's your chance. The iconic rockers, who released their studio album Hackney Diamonds this past fall, are returning on the road for a 16-date tour with shows throughout the United States and Canada. Concertgoers can expect a mix of new tunes and Stones classics.
16) Bruce Springsteen
Famous for countless listenable hits like "Born to Run" and "Glory Days," Bruce Springsteen is set to embark on a massive world tour this year with his band, The E Street Band. The much-anticipated tour will take the Boss and his crew to cities such as Phoenix, San Diego, Dublin, and Madrid, from March through November.
17) John Mayer
Be sure to catch John Mayer's solo tour this year, which will bring the guitarist and crooner to cities throughout Europe. This leg, an extension of his popular 2023 solo tour, will kick off in Stockholm on March 13 and finish in Dublin on March 29.
18) Shania Twain
Okay, this one is technically a residency , but we're excited nonetheless. Shania Twain, most known for her incredible outfits (her hooded leopard print look, anyone?) and hits like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" is setting up shop in Vegas starting May 10. Twain's residency will take place at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood on and off throughout December 2024.
All good things must come to an end. The Eagles, known for "Hotel California" and other amazing rock songs, began their final concert tour this winter. It launched in Phoenix on January 20, with March 16 as its last date in the United States. Eagles fans won't want to miss this one.
20) Alanis Morisette: The Triple Moon Tour
Alanis Morisette joins forces with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts for their 2024 Triple Moon Tour , which has dates in North America and Canada. This tour is a great one to catch this summer, as it's slated to run from June through August.
