Red Dead Redemption 2 - the fast travel map in camp

Fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2 takes on a few different forms. In this guide, we’ll teach you about them all.

Each one will prove useful in its own way as you travel the vast expanse of Red Dead Redemption 2 ’s world. After all, the scenic route — riding everywhere on Arthur Morgan’s horse — will get old eventually.

Stagecoaches and trains

Stagecoaches and trains are forms of fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2 , but they’ll cost you. Literally. For a fee, you can hire a stagecoach or buy a train ticket.

The stagecoach icon on the Red Dead Redemption 2 map

Stagecoaches appear on the map as an icon that looks like two intersecting street signs. (It’s called a “taxi coach” in the menu that appears when you hover over it.) For a nominal fee that increases (as far as we can tell) based on distance from your current location, you can take a stagecoach to locations you’ve previously visited.

The post office icon for trains Red Dead Redemption 2

If you want to catch a train, you’ll need to buy a ticket. ( Unless you don’t .) You’d think you’d be looking for a train station, but you might also be looking for a building sitting next to a train track. In one town, Rhodes, what you’re actually looking for is the post office icon (which looks like an envelope). Talk to the clerk inside, and you can purchase a ride on a very Old West kind of transportation.

Actual fast travel

Traditional video game fast travel becomes available after you upgrade your lodgings at the Van der Linde Gang’s camp.

Head to the icon in camp that looks like a briefcase with a dollar sign on it. (It says “Donate to camp” when you hover over it on your map.) There are three upgrades to purchase on the lodging page. The second one, “Next in Line,” costs $325 and says that “Arthur wants a map to help plan journeys.” This is a reference to fast travel.

Buy that upgrade, and you’ll find a map on the back of the stagecoach next to Arthur’s bed. Approach it and interact, and you’ll be able to travel to several destinations — a mixture of towns and significant locations like buildings.

Keep in mind that this form of fast travel only works one way — from camp to somewhere else. If you fast travel from camp to, say, a town on the opposite side of the map, you’ll either need to ride your horse, hire a stagecoach or buy a train ticket to get back.

Red Dead Redemption 2 How to Unlock Fast Travel

October 25, 2018 by PowerPyx 1 Comment

This guide will teach you how to unlock fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). There are 3 types of fast travel:

  • Permanently Free Fast Travel: Can be unlocked by upgrading your camp.
  • Train Tickets / Post Office: Train Tickets can be bought at the Post Office for a small fee, but not every other train stations can be reached from each town.
  • Stagecoaches: Found in most towns, you can call a Stagecoach to drive you to another town. The downside is that these only work when you have no bounty on your head worldwide.

In addition to fast travel, there is automatic horse travel (autopilot) which lets you set a waypoint anywhere and you can hold Touchpad (PS4) / View-Button (Xbox One) to make your horse ride there automatically. To initiate this you must be riding on a road in the direction of the waypoint.

Unlocking Free Fast Travel (Camp)

Step 1 (Unlock Camp Upgrades) : In Chapter 2, complete Strauss’s story mission “Money Lending and other Sins”. Strauss wants you to track down debtors who took a loan from your gang. There are 3 of them, you just need to get money from one and put it in the camp’s tithing box. This unlocks the ledger next to the tithing box. There you can select camp upgrades!

Step 2 (Unlock Fast Travel): Buy the first two camp upgrades in the lodging category “First Things First” ($220) & “Next in Line” ($325). That’s $545 in total. The second upgrade unlocks a fast travel map behind Arthur’s tent!

Now you can use the map behind Arthur’s tent for free fast travel. You can only travel to discovered towns, but cannot travel back. This is one way only. To get back you’ll have to either ride your horse or use one of the fast travel options below to get to the nearest town and then ride back to camp. Below is an image of what the fast travel map looks like:

Train Fast Travel

Train Tickets can be bought at any Post Office. The further you want to travel the more they cost (it usually varies between $5-$15). The downside is that not every train station is connected to each other. So you may have to take multiple trains to get where you want to go.

The upside is that it works even when you have a bounty on your head. The train fast travel is instant.

How to fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2

Tired of gallivanting on your horse all the time? Here's how to unlock and use fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2.

While it's fun to gallop through the countryside or run around a town, sometimes you just want to get somewhere fast. Getting to the various towns and regions in Red Dead Redemption 2 often means travelling across the massive map on horseback. However, there are ways to cut down on all that horsemanship and equine bonding.

There are two ways you can fast travel in RDR2 , but you can't just open up the map, choose a location and whisk yourself away at the drop of a hat. You'll either need to track down some public transport or work on those camp upgrades for the Van Der Linde gang, but to give you a helping hand, here's how to fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2 .

There are two methods of fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2; you can use public transport such as stagecoaches and trains, or you can unlock the ability to fast travel from camp.

The former - travelling via public transport - is simple. All you need to do is make your way to the nearest ticket station, purchase a ticket to your chosen destination from the kiosk, and then off you go. This'll set you back a few dollars each time, but it definitely makes getting around the map a lot quicker.

Arthur looks at train station tickets at the Rhodes post office in Red Dead Redemption 2

You can also choose to fast travel from your camp , but you will need to upgrade your camp first. There are a few upgrades you can make, which you can read more about in our Red Dead Redemption 2 camp upgrade guide.

To specifically unlock fast travel, however, you'll need to do is head to the camp's money box and open up the ledger next to it. From there, upgrade Dutch's lodgings , which has the added benefit of inspiring other gang members to contribute more.

Arthur looks at the fast travel map at the Shady Belle camp in Red Dead Redemption 2

This will also unlock a map upgrade - this is how you fast travel. Buy that after upgrading Dutch's lodgings, and the map will appear in Arthur's area of the camp - its precise location is different depending on where your camp is located but it is usually close to Arthur's tent. Interact with the map and you'll then be able to choose from a list of destinations to travel to on your trusty steed.

It's $220 for Dutch's quarters and $325 for the map upgrade. The easiest way to get this sort of cash is to buy the upgrades after the gang's first big heist, or after finding a few gold bars.

Arthur looks at fast travel destinations while camping out in the wilderness in Red Dead Redemption 2

What's better is that once you unlock the map upgrade at camp, you can then easily fast travel anywhere for free. You can access the map from Arthur's camp to venture out into the wilderness, but you can also access the fast travel map whenever Arthur sets up a temporary camp. Just rest, set up Arthur's camp, and select fast travel to pick a destination.

If you're trying to set up camp and keep receiving the 'Cannot create camp while there is activity nearby' error, even though you're out in the sticks and not a soul is near, don't worry. Instead, open Arthur's inventory and go to 'Items'. There'll be an option to setup camp here, and it should work without a hitch unless there really is some activity nearby.

So, if you're out hunting legendary animals and find yourself needing to pay a visit to Valentine or Saint Denis, set up a quick camp!

Red Dead Redemption 2 fast travel: How to unlock fast travel and other ways of travelling quickly

How to get around the world quickly with Fast Travel in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 fast travel is something you'll probably be asking about after your third or fourth long trek between destinations.

Though the game doesn't make a big song and dance about it, the good news is fast travel is in the game - though there is several caveats to how it works.

If you haven't unlocked fast travel yet, then there's other ways of getting round the map as well - allowing you to reach far-off destinations as soon as the game world opens up.

For more help, our Red Dead Redemption 2 walkthrough explains the requirements for fully completing the game's many story missions.

How to unlock fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2

Fast travel won't be available to you when you start Chapter 2, and has to be unlocked by progressing through the story, and then unlocking a few camp upgrades.

First, play through to mission Money Lending and Other Sins . Hand in your first debt, and you'll learn about the Ledger, allowing you to upgrade your camp .

You want to specifically upgrade Lodgings. Once you have upgraded it once, you'll have the option to upgrade Arthur's tent. Do so, and you'll unlock fast travel.

camp fast travel rdr2

Of course, it isn't a simple case of selecting somewhere on the map and going there. You have to go to Arthur's tent - specifically, round the back - and view the map. Then, you select a location you've been to before, and you'll appear there, with your main horse , after a transition sequence.

What this means is, even with this unlocked, you cannot decide to jump from somewhere out in the wilderness to another destination - you still have to do that at a camp.

camp fast travel rdr2

However, if you are close to a specific location, you can travel around the map through other means...

Other ways to fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2

Whether you've unlocked fast travel from your camp (as described above) or not, there are other ways of jumping round the map.

One is by using the stagecoach . This is an icon with a signpost on it, and is usually at most towns, ranches and other named locations on the map.

Cover image for YouTube video

Provided you've been to that location previously, you can pay to use the stagecoach to that destination.

By the way, if it looks like the Stagecoach is unavailable (there will be a 'lock' symbol on the icon) it means you're likely in a mission, have to pay a bounty or are currently riding your horse - fix these things and you should be good to go.

camp fast travel rdr2

The other method is by train . At most larger settlements there is a envelope icon, which indicates a train station. This is not only a postmaster and a place to pay your Wanted bounties, but you can also buy a train ticket to far away destinations.

Unlike the stagecoach, you can take the train to any destination on the list right from the start of Chapter 2 (where the game begins to open up). Not only that, it's usually cheaper than the stagecoach - so if you're somewhere where you have the choice of both, grab the train.

camp fast travel rdr2

Of course, though the train goes to more prominent locations and allows you to go there straight away, the stagecoach visits a lot of smaller ranches, so both come in handy.

Either way, both cost money, and since you'll be starting a lot of your trips from your camp, purchasing the camp upgrades to fast travel from there will be better in the long run.

Fast Travel

  • View history

Fast Travel is a mode of travel in Red Dead Redemption , Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online that allows players to traverse long distances across the map quickly. There are three main ways to fast travel, most of which cost money.

  • 1 Red Dead Redemption
  • 2.2 Stagecoach
  • 2.5 Missions
  • 3 Red Dead Online
  • 4 Cinematic Mode
  • 5 Known Bugs
  • 6 External links

Red Dead Redemption [ ]

In Red Dead , the player can fast travel by the means of a Stagecoach Taxi located in almost every settlement. For a price, they can be driven to any of the following locations and have the option to skip to destination.

Destinations are limited to the following:

  • Benedict Point
  • Las Hermanas
  • MacFarlane's Ranch
  • Rathskeller Fork
  • Ridgewood Farm

Red Dead Redemption 2 [ ]

Fast Travel Map - Red Dead Redemption II

Arthur's Fast Travel map

Players have the option to upgrade Arthur Morgan 's camp lodgings, for a price, after the mission " Money Lending and Other Sins I ." The gang will do little to help in this regard, so the task falls to players. Upgrade options can be found next to Dutch van der Linde 's tent wherever the caravan ends up.

Players must pay the first $220 upgrade fee before the next tier evens shows up. It is this next tier, at $325, that unlocks the fast travel map, so players will need $545 total. Once purchased, Arthur's fast travel map appears outside his wagon or inside his room at Shady Belle during Chapter 4 . After completing the first part of the Epilogue, the Fast Travel map will become available free of charge (i.e. no upgrades are needed).

Alternatively to using the map, the player can fast travel using their camps. Upon setting up camp, the player is able to fast travel to the same places they could when using the map.

Note that destinations the player can travel to are entirely dependent upon where they have already been. Due to this, and that it is difficult to raise that amount of money in the early game, players may want to wait until they have traveled to more areas.

  • Armadillo (after Epilogue 1)
  • Beecher's Hope (after Epilogue 1)
  • Benedict Point (after Epilogue 1)
  • Blackwater (after Epilogue 1)
  • Braithwaite Manor
  • Butcher Creek
  • Caliga Hall
  • Cornwall Kerosene & Tar
  • Emerald Ranch
  • MacFarlane's Ranch (after Epilogue 1)
  • Manzanita Post
  • Pronghorn Ranch
  • Saint Denis
  • Thieves' Landing (after Epilogue 1)
  • Tumbleweed (after Epilogue 1)
  • Van Horn Trading Post
  • Wapiti Indian Reservation
  • The gang camp's locations from Chapter 2 to 6 ( Horseshoe Overlook , Clemens Point , Shady Belle , Lakay , and Beaver Hollow ; only available as long as the gang resides within those grounds )

On the side note, using Camp Fast Travel more than once per in-game day empties the player's horse's stamina core.

Stagecoach [ ]

Stagecoach - Red Dead Redemption II

Stagecoach option

Like Red Dead Redemption , Stagecoaches are another fast travel option, and they can be found in most towns. Unlike using the fast travel map, using a stagecoach requires money. Not only that, but players need to be aware of what their level of honor is for that particular town. If their honor is too low, the stagecoach will be locked.

Like the fast travel map, the player will only be able to travel to destinations he has already visited. Stagecoaches, however, cannot take players back to their camp.

  • Emerald Station

If the player wishes, they may also be able to fast travel via purchasing a train ticket at a train station. Tickets for the train, which only runs between select locations, can be purchased at the Post Office. Locations include:

  • Riggs Station
  • Wallace Station

Although traveling by train is noticeably cheaper than using stagecoaches, the reachable destinations are limited within three territories ( West Elizabeth , New Hanover , and Lemoyne ).

If the player is at the countryside of a state and wishes to go to its main town, another alternative of Fast Traveling is to vandal, or kill someone and, after arrival of lawmen, just surrender and they will take the player into the town. However, it will cost the player honor, money, and days in prison.

Missions [ ]

The last alternative option for fast travel comes at the end of some missions. This only requires completion of the mission and accepting the option to travel. Players can, of course, refuse the option if they have other matters to attend to, but this will prevent them from fast traveling back to their camp.

Red Dead Online [ ]

In Red Dead Online , the player can upgrade their camp with an Fast Travel post for $700.00 upon reaching Rank 65.

There are 15 fast travel locations on the map. The cost differs depending on the distance from the current destination.

Cinematic Mode [ ]

Cinematic Mode can be used as a form of "auto run" to reach destinations. To do this, the player must place a waypoint on the map, mount their horse, get up to speed on a road, and hold the touchpad/view button to engage Cinematic Mode. The player's horse will automatically navigate to the waypoint. While not "fast travel" properly said, it does allow the player to put down the controller for a few moments. However, hostiles like rival gangs , bounty hunters and predators will still attack, and sometimes the horse's A.I. fails to deal with traffic on the road as well. Any unique random encounter found by the road may also be lost if the player does not pay attention to them.

Known Bugs [ ]

  • As corpses aren't allowed inside the Van der Linde camp , if the player Fast Travels to it with a dead NPC on horseback, the game will instantly bug as soon as it starts the scene of the player entering its grounds.

How to fast travel Red Dead Redemption 2

Joseph Yaden

In Red Dead Redemption 2 , you’ll likely find enjoyment in exploring the massive world it has to offer. After all, part of the fun is stumbling across little experiences that you’d miss if you were zipping around the map through fast travel menus. However, you are able to skip much of the exploration if you want by fast traveling — but you’ll need to make a few preparations before you’re able to do so. The game doesn’t explain much about this feature, though, since it wants you to enjoy everything in a slow and methodical way.

Fast traveling from your camp

Fast traveling from town to town.

This guide will walk you through what you need to know about fast traveling in the single-player component of RDR2 .

There are two methods of fast traveling in RDR2 . The first method of fast travel can be unlocked after Chapter 2. You’ll need to play through the main story missions and complete Money Lending and Other Sins. At this point, you’ll unlock the Ledger at your camp, which allows you to purchase items and upgrades to enhance the lives of Arthur and his fellow campers. At this point, make sure you purchase Dutch’s tent (First Things First) for $220, followed by Arthur’s wagon (Next in Line) for $325.

After this, you’ll find a map on the side of Arthur’s tent, allowing you to select various locations across the map to fast travel to. Doing so will result in Arthur taking a stagecoach to the locations around the map. The nice thing is that it’s free and your horse will come with you, making this a convenient and effective method to get around easily. You’ll need to have visited the area you want to fast travel to before it’ll appear as an option on the map.

The other way to fast travel involves taking a stagecoach from town to town. This method is similar to traveling from your camp, only it isn’t free. To use this method, approach one of the Stagecoach locations on your map — indicated by a signpost found in the main towns. When you approach, it’ll list all the locations you’ve visited, with various prices for each, depending on distance. After making a selection, you’ll get a short cut scene of the stagecoach taking off and arriving at your new destination. You can’t continuously fast travel using this method since there’s a short cool-down after you arrive at your destination. Sleep in a hotel to get the stagecoach to appear again if it’s giving you trouble.

There is no way to fast travel without using one of the two methods, meaning if you’re out in the wilderness, you’ll need to ride your horse or walk to the nearest fast-travel location. The game is designed to encourage you to explore, so you’ll want to fill in the map first before making good use of this feature. Once you’ve gone to all the locations on the map, you’ll likely be in the post-game section past the ending credits, so fast traveling will be a lot more essential at that point.

FBI agent Saga Anderson and her partner, Alex Casey, are called into Bright Falls to investigate a murder committed by a strange group calling themselves the Cult of the Trees. These dangerous cultists are your main enemy in Alan Wake 2, and they put up quite a fight despite mostly using basic tools as weapons. They seem mindless and primitive, but the fact that they have a series of Cultist Stashes hidden all around the world suggests otherwise. These treasure troves are very well hidden, and they're protected with a small puzzle to try and prevent those who may stumble upon one from grabbing all the goodies inside. You'll find yourself short on supplies essentially all the time in Alan Wake 2, so scooping up some extra ammo and batteries is always welcome. Here is where you can find all the Cultist Stashes in Alan Wake 2 and how to open them. All Cultist Stash locations There are a total of 21 Cultist Stashes to find and unlock in Alan Wake 2. Each zone has its own set to find, and they all have different puzzles you need to solve to open them. None are missable, but some can't be obtained until you make story progress or get specific tools. Bright Falls Cult Stashes

The first Cult Stash you can find comes as soon as you reach the town of Bright Falls for the first time. Instead of going straight to your destination down the block, turn around and head toward the dead end. Behind the truck will be a big locked box. To open this one, all you need to do is play a little game of Simon Says. The keypad will flash three buttons in a sequence that you simply need to repeat to open the box and grab the loot.

Everyone knows the iconic Spider-Man suit. The red-and-blue spandex uniform has been iterated on and altered hundreds of times over the course of decades, leading to some similar and some very different designs. Spider-Man 2 introduces Venom and the symbiote suit to the mix as a plot point, but there are almost 70 total suits from various comics, shows, and movies to unlock and wear between Peter pParker and Miles Morales. Unlocking them is one thing, but changing between them, and their new styles, is another. With this guide, you will be able to change your spider style as fast as our heroes when duty calls. How to change suits

Once you've snagged your first additional suit and used some Tokens to unlock it, changing between them is a breeze. Simply open your menu, go to the Suits tab, and highlight the one you want to wear. If you want to switch between Peter and Miles, simply hit L2 or R2 to cycle between the Spider-Men since each has their own unique set of suit options. Press X on the suit you want to wear and -- bam! -- your Spider-Man is now decked out in a new style. However, that's not all. Many suits have additional styles you can unlock by spending some Tech Parts. These give you three additional color options for that specific suit to further customize your look.

In the decades that the character of Spider-Man has existed, through comics, TV shows, games, and movies, he's gone through quite a few suits. Spider-Man 2 keeps the tradition alive by not only giving him a new suit to try out, but dozens and dozens of older ones to let you play as your favorite version of the webslinger. Oh, and did we mention Miles has his own extensive set of suits as well? Just like the first game, you won't be handed the keys to the wardrobe for free. Each suit not only needs to be unlocked but also crafted using City and Hero Tokens, as well as Tech parts to get access to the additional styles most suits have. If you're itching to dress up as the Spider-Man of your dreams as soon as you can, here is every suit in Spider-Man 2 and how you unlock them.

Note: Some suits are unlocked via story progress and could be considered spoilers. You have been warned. All suits in Spider-Man 2

Fast Travel In Red Dead Online

Red Dead Online Game Modes & Features Detailed

Red Dead Redemption 2, in spite of having a massive game world and relatively slow forms of transportation – horses – doesn’t exactly spoil players with convenient fast travel. The situation is different in Red Dead Online though, as it features a different system. In Red Dead Online it’s much easier to “fast travel” and significantly more useful in terms of actually moving between points of interest.

As described in our guide , fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2 is highly limited. It is only unlocked once you buy several upgrades for your camp. It only works one-way, and only from your camp. You can’t fast travel between Valentine and Strawberry, for example. You also can’t fast travel back to camp either. It’s barely useful as a fast travel system at all.

As fun factor likely overtakes adherence to realism on the priority list in Red Dead Online, the system has been overhauled. Taking pointers from some other open-world games, such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Red Dead Online uses a fast travel post based system. Scattered throughout the game world are so-called fast travel posts, which allow you to instantly move to another such post.

Fast Travel In Red Dead Online

Indicated by a small sign-post symbol on your map , which only appears if you are in close proximity, these fast travel posts are little wooden scaffolds with a ram skull on top and a broken wheel at the base in order to help you identify them. Using fast travel will cost you money, and the price is calculated based on how far away your destination is.

You can only travel in between posts, not anywhere on the map from such a post. While this is much more accommodating than the solution in single player, it’s still fairly restrictive when compared to other games. Some, for example, allow you to instantly travel from any point to any other point on the map, while others let you fast travel freely between all points of interest. The system used by Red Dead Online is an ideal compromise between convenience and realism.

There are a total of 16 fast travel posts in the game world. 15 are located at points of interest, while the 16th is located at your camp, the location of which is variable. The camp fast travel post is only unlocked when you reach Rank 65. Check out our Ranking Guide to learn how to reach it quickly.

Fast Travel In Red Dead Online

The 15 fast travel posts are as follows:

  • MacFarlane’s Ranch
  • Manzanita Post
  • Saint Denis
  • Emerald Station

You’ll notice that every location has railway access, or is close to a railway. The actual posts themselves are also physically close to railway stations or tracks. This little detail is an attempt by Rockstar to maintain immersion and realism, implying that the characters catch a train to whichever location they choose to fast travel to.

It also isn’t generally allowed to take your horse with you on trains – at least, we suspect this is the explanation for one of the drawbacks of using fast travel. If your horse is carrying any pelts or carcasses when you use fast travel, they will disappear.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - How To Unlock Fast Travel

Recruit Carrie to unlock Fast Travel in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

Quick Links

When does fast travel unlock in eiyuden chronicle: hundred heroes, how to recruit carrie in eiyuden chronicle: hundred heroes.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the spiritual successor to the iconic Suikoden series. It's a throwback title that feels and plays like a follow-up to the first two Suikoden games. As such, it's a JRPG that embraces its old-school sensibilities far beyond homage. This includes forcing players to explore Eiyuden Chronicle 's world as much as possible before unlocking the Fast Travel ability.

Like Suikoden, players must encounter and recruit a special character who can teleport the party to towns, villages, and cities. In the Suikoden series , this mainstay character was Viki, for Eiyuden, Carrie The Teleporter Chaos Girl picks up the baton. This guide will show you how to find and recruit Carrie to unlock fast travel in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

Eiyuden Chronicle: How to Hunt Three Wild Boars in Redthroat Ridge (Kuroto Recruitment Guide)

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes proudly wears its old-school nature on its sleeve and wants you to explore its beautiful world and discover as much as possible without missing anything. As a result, the Fast Travel mechanic doesn't become available until later in the story when the party reaches the Euchrisse area long after the town-building mechanics open up. Nowa and the party will encounter a teleporter called Carrie in the town of Hishahn . Until then, keep playing the story, enjoy its world, and explore as much as possible.

When the party arrives in Hishahn as part of the main story , they can meet Carrie for three encounters by approaching the northwest bridge in the town.

Encounter One At Hishahn's Northwest Bridge

  • Carrie teleports in front of the party and falls flat on her face.
  • After a brief conversation and denial of Carrie's fall from the sky, she will ask Nowa a question.
  • It doesn't matter how Nowa answers, as Carrie will teleport away.

Encounter Two At Hishahn's Northeast Bridge

  • After Carries teleports away, the party must walk over to the northeast bridge.
  • Carrie will reappear and fall out of the sky again.
  • Once again, Carrie refuses to acknowledge her fall and claim perfection.
  • After some dialogue options, where both answers are correct, she will teleport away for the second time.

There are other recruitable characters to look out for in Hishahn, like Huang the fisherman.

Encounter Three At Hishahn's Southeast Bridge

  • Head to the bridge in the southeast, and Carrie will appear and fall out of the sky again.
  • She’ll ask another question and join the party to keep an eye on Nowa so he doesn’t tell anyone about Carrie’s mistakes.
  • After joining, Carrie will ask to see Nowa’s map and give him a ring as a key item.
  • Stay at the Inn and save the game .
  • The party can now Fast Travel to previously visited cities, towns, and villages.

First Timer’s Travel Guide to Moscow & Saint Petersburg

camp fast travel rdr2

Russia is this vast, diverse, and magnificent land that many international travellers dream of visiting. The capital city Moscow and the second largest city in the country St Petersburg are, in particular, one of the most magical and interesting cities in the world you can visit all year-round. That is why today we decided to focus yours and our attention to both cities. Learn how to explore them properly if you are a first-time visitor. How to ensure that you make the most of your visit. What to expect, etc.

The Kremlin, Moscow

Despite the fact that even a month or two will not be enough to explore Moscow or St Petersburg to the fullest and enjoy everything these amazing cities have to offer, not many of us have the luck to spend such a long time abroad. We would provide you with some recommendations and ideas you can totally make happen within a 4-day itinerary in Moscow and a 4-day itinerary in St Petersburg.

St Petersburg

In addition, please note that the majority of the international and continental flights are to the capital city Moscow that is a home to the biggest and most popular airport in the country. So Moscow will be the starting point of your over a week-long journey to Russia. Let’s discuss some of the basics you should know and prepare for!

The first thing you have to do when planning to visit Russia is applying for a visa. There are only a few countries in the world that are to require a visa when visiting the country. In the majority of the cases, you should have one in order to visit the country. Be prepared for your visa application by making sure you own and can provide a proof of arrival and departure dates, and an invitation letter from either a tour provider or an accommodation booked.

Make sure to check out the website of your country’s government for additional requirements and papers needed. The easiest way to get an invitation letter from an accommodation is by booking a major hotel chain. They are more used to dealing with international visitors and will assist and support you throughout the process, providing you with everything you need for entering the country. Please keep in mind that the application process can take up to a few weeks and you have to send your original passport away, so make sure you don’t need it during this time.

However, there is one way to visit St Petersburg for three days visa-free. This happens if you arrive by ferry or cruise ship when you will be allowed to arrive and stay in the city for 72 hours without applying for a visa. This is the only way and a great option to visit one of the most magnificent and impressive cities in Russia without going through the whole visa application process that can be pretty overwhelming, indeed.

Well, Russian language is not the most popular in the world, despite the fact it is spoken by a big number of people, who are citizens not only of the country but also of the ex-USSR. Chances are, you are not familiar with the language and with the Cyrillic alphabet used in the country, where you will find that the majority of the signs around the cities are in Cyrillic, which can make it harder for you to find your way around, but also a great bunch of the names of many international brands and companies. In addition, once you get to Russia you will find out that English is definitely not widely-spoken by the general population, even in big cities such as Moscow and St Petersburg, where most of the people, no matter their age, will speak little to no English.

However, don’t be afraid that you will get lost or in trouble. Let Google Translate, hand gestures, and a little common sense make all the hard work and you will be ok. Keep in mind that having an Internet connection on your phone all the time will be very helpful for finding your way around. In addition, many restaurants in the main tourist areas in both cities have an English menu you can ask for, while the same applies to the maps and brochures of the major tourist attractions.

Getting Around

Both Moscow and St Petersburg have an awful traffic, which means that taxis can cost you a lot. Buses and cars can take a long time when traffic is at its full potential and in order to save yourself some time and coins. We highly recommend you using the metro/underground systems in both cities. Moscow’s metro system is simply amazing. It has a huge network of interconnecting lines that will help you get around and across the city very efficiently.

Make sure to grab a map of the Moscow’s metro, which will make it very easy to navigate, plus the stations are announced in English. In addition, using the metro is incredibly cheap and it will get you anywhere in the city for less than $1. Moscow’s metro is also known for some of the most beautiful and spectacular metro stations in the world that are definitely worth visiting as amazing tourist attractions of their own.

The metro is St Petersburg isn’t nearly as extensive as the Moscow’s one and the stations are more spread out. In this case, you can take advantage of the Uber service in the city and explore St Petersburg by ordering an Uber driver that will cost you significantly cheaper than a taxi. Thanks to the big number of drivers available, you will be able to find a free car very quickly. However, considering the fact that St Petersburg is more touristy and most of the main sights are located in what is called the Golden Triangle, you can easily explore the main tourist attractions by foot. There are also sightseeing buses and canal transports that will take you all along and around the main sights in St Petersburg.

The Russian currency is Russian ruble and you can expect to spend a lot of it because both Moscow and St Petersburg are pretty expensive cities with a higher standard and cost of living. Knowing that both cities are generally pretty expensive will help you plan that fact into your budget and consider some way to spend money if you are not travelling with a limitless budget. For example, make sure to choose a hotel that is in the outskirts of the city and in a short walking distance from a metro station. This way you can save a huge amount of money compared to a hotel in the city centre and you can also save on travel time. If you are student do not forget to take your valid student ID with you since some attractions and museums are offering a student discount.

Tickets and Attractions

When it comes to tickets for shows, museums, and attractions, the best way is to buy them beforehand. This way you can save time and not wait in hours-long lines, you can even benefit from an online purchase discount, and most importantly – you can make sure that your place and visit is reserved since many attractions in Russia sell a limited amount of tickets per day. There are some places that are very popular and tickets can sell out weeks in advance. An online purchase will help you figure out what and when you can visit, and you can plan your tour better and more effectively.

The weather in Moscow and St Petersburg can be pretty unpredictable all year-round. Because of that make sure to pack a variety of clothes for all seasons, dress in layers, and don’t take the weather forecast for the day as a final promise. Make sure to always take an umbrella or a raincoat with you. For women, bringing a scarf can be very useful for a practical reason, but also because some churches and cathedrals in Russia expect you to cover your hair with a scarf.

If you are a foodie, you will be happy to know that Russia has its very own and unique cuisine and we highly recommend you trying out some of the most popular dishes in the country including the Russian dumplings pierogi, the infamous Russian salads such as Olivie, Mimoza, and Seliodka pod shuba, etc. However, if you are not willing to try out the local cuisine, there are many international restaurants and familiar fast food chains in both cities Moscow and St Petersburg.

Things to Do and Places to See

Both Moscow and St Petersburg are cities that offer a lot to be seen, explored, experienced, and enjoyed. Some of the most important, stunning, and exciting sights in Moscow: the Red Square, where you can visit the St. Basil’s Cathedral and the GUM Department Store. The Kremlin that contains the Great Bell Tower. The Tsar Bell, Tsar Cannon, several cathedrals, gardens, and the Armory Chamber. Arbat Street is the most touristic street in Moscow with a lot of places to eat, plenty of shops to buy, and all the souvenirs you can ever imagine and want to take home with you.

St. Basil’s Cathedral

The metro stations, despite the fact that they are one of the busiest in the world, are definitely very clean and beautifully constructed and ornamented. Izmaylovsky Flea Market is just a few metro stations away from the centre. It is a great place to get to know the Russian culture and everyday life while shopping for some more authentic and interesting souvenirs. Sparrow Hill is one of the highest spots in Moscow and offers some great views of the modern city, plus it is the location of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Saint Petersburg is often referred to as one of the most beautiful and stunning cities not only in Russia but in the whole world. It has plenty of unique sights and magnificent things to see in the city. If your time is limited you should make sure to cover at least the highlights. The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, since its exterior and interior, are equally breath-taking.

The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood

Hop on a canal cruise to explore the city from a different perspective. Visit Kazan Cathedral and St. Isaac’s Cathedral, where you can go inside and also climb the stairs to the top and enjoy some stunning views of the city. The Palace Square, which is home to the Winter Palace, which was the lavish residence of the Russian monarchs and is nowadays a part of the Hermitage Museum.

Kazan Cathedral

Of course, visiting Saint Petersburg without visiting the Hermitage Museum is like going to Rome and not seeing the Pope. The Hermitage is one of the largest and most spectacular museums in the world and a day is not enough to explore each and every one of its nooks and corners. When in the city, you can also visit the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Peterhof Palace.

Despite the fact that media loves to sensationalise the negative stories in Russia and the fact that the country is often portrayed as a pretty unsafe place by the western media, the chances of you getting into a trouble, feel threatened, or in a danger are as minimal as possible. However, keep in mind that some things are rather recommended not to do, for example taking a picture of any government, military or security building. Despite not forbidden, you better use your camera for capturing some more exciting moments. In addition, always bring a photocopy of your passport and visa with you, since police can demand you to legitimize yourself anytime.
