"I can't even go to a show anymore. It's like going to church group!" complains Guttermouth front man Mark Adkins. "Kids don't party and drink and have fun and chuck bottles in the parking lot anymore. Their parents just pick them up and drop them off. For lack of a better term, it's gay."

Before you call the Political Correct police with reports of homophobia, realize that Adkins and Guttermouth have been wracking up violations of the PC code for well over a decade now. Third-grade synonyms for "stupid" aside, he and his band aren't letting up on their latest, Eat Your Face. After all, the punk smartasses feature an ode about killing an annoying neighbor's infant ("My Neighbor's Baby") and a very non-ironic (sorry hipsters) use of the hot-dog-as-penis metaphor ("Hot Dog to the Head") on Eat Your Face. The kinder, gentler and more socially responsible punk rock of the new millennium? Guttermouth says you can stuff that notion, along with your trendy, asymmetrical hairdos. Once again, the band reminds us that before there were shopping 0-malls pushing punk fashions and the style was a major-label cash cow, it was about pissing off as many people as possible, maybe even you included.

Along the way, the band also nails trendy punks ("The Next Faux Moheekon"), the hype that surrounds certain election-year punk rock politicizing ("Party of 2") and goofy newbie surfers ("Surf's Up Asshole"). Of course, every band has a couple favorite muses. For Nirvana, it was heroin and Courtney's pasty thighs. For Guttermouth, it's beer and hard liquor, both of which inspired a handful of party-punk tracks ("NRAAA," "Wasted Lives" and "Second DUI").

Everyone, including Adkins, knows Guttermouth's lyrics won't be quoted in lonely-kid web blogs or be hailed as the voice of a generation. Since when did punk rock become so snooty, anyway? Eat Your Face recalls the glory days when Los Angeles punkers weren't singing about heart-wrenching, adolescent breakups or preaching electoral politics, but cynically cracking on Oki Dogs, T.V. Parties and Group Sex.

"I get bored with serious topics like 'George Bush stinks' and 'The government's a bowl of crap,'" Adkins grumbles. "'I love you, I love you, I love you' also bores me terribly. I'd rather make fun of all those a-holes doing that."

In a punk world choked by do's, don'ts and a list of scene etiquette, Guttermouth's disdain for those rules (dare we say nihilism?) is as welcome, and gut-wrenching, as a musical Heimlich maneuver. Continuing the tradition of the Dead Milkmen and Mojo Nixon, Eat Your Face reminds listeners that there's more to punk's snide humor than the scatological humor and sophomoric boobie jokes of the mall-punk set. It's not giggle-giggle comedy, either. Rather, it's the sort of joke that has its butt, and gleefully disobeys the "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" maxim.

"It's just the stand-up comedian of punk," Adkins explains of his lyrics. "You just do cheap one-liners and attack the masses, with a nice background to it. Next thing you know, you have something going. We're the take off your shoes band of punk. We just take off our shoes and write a record and cruise through everything."

Did we mention Eat Your Face rocks? Really. Okay, we pulled your leg when we said that about the acoustic/electric hybrids on the band's 2002 Epitaph Records release, Gusto, but we're serious about Eat Your Face. Experimentation out of its system, Guttermouth hasn't sounded nearly as snotty, witty or driven in years. Guitars blaze and clatter with La Habra's punk and hardcore legacy while, underneath the punk-rock flotsam and jetsam, melodies playfully swim around like a school of clownfish.

No cow is sacred. No beer is safe. No line can't be crossed. Guttermouth's back, with another round of beers, jokes and, best of all, that don't give a damn attitude that made us fall in love with punk the first time around. That or hate it. It's pretty much the same for Guttermouth.

Hailing from the same Huntington Beach punk scene that gave rise to The Vandals, Guttermouth’s live shows and albums offer raw, unwavering energy. Their sophomore release (and Nitro debut), Friendly People , remains a fan favorite. As their music spread to a larger and larger audience, the band participated in various events such as the Vans Warped Tour and was eventually invited to be part of the Volcom Entertainment team. Megadeth announced its summer tour dates on Tuesday, and the legendary thrash metal band is stopping in Upstate New York.

The band is playing at the MVP Arena in Albany on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday on Ticketmaster .

The North American portion of the “Destroy All Enemies” tour has 33 dates beginning on Aug. 2 in Rogers, Arkansas, and ending on Sept. 28. in Nashville.

Joining Megadeth on the tour will be Mudvayne and All That Remains.

Megadeth has been together for 41 years, though vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine remains the sole consistent member.

The band had album hits with “So Far, So Good … So What!” in 1988, “Rust in Peace” in 1990 and “Countdown to Extinction” in 1992. Its most recent album, “The Sick, the Dying … and the Dead,” was released in 2022.

Megadeth is recognized among the “big four” of American thrash metal bands, alongside Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer.

After rocking for 35 years, Teenage Fanclub turns reflective on 12th album

On Teenage Fanclub’s early albums, the Scottish band swathed its folk-rock songs in guitar distortion. So longtime fans couldn’t have been surprised that the group’s 12th and latest studio album, “Nothing Lasts Forever,” begins with an electric snarl.

“It’s always been a part of what we do,” says singer-guitarist Norman Blake via video phone call from his home in the countryside near Glasgow. “We like a fuzz pedal.”

Blake and Raymond McGinley, who also sings and plays guitar, are the only members who’ve been with the band for its entire 35-year run. Drummer Francis McDonald was there at the beginning but stepped aside for a decade before rejoining. Bassist Dave McGowan (who also plays with Belle and Sebastian) entered in 2004. The most recent recruit, as of 2019, is Euros Childs, formerly of the Welsh-language neo-psychedelic group Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci.

Childs isn’t such a newcomer, though. He played on the Fanclub’s 2010 album, “Shadows,” and he and Blake made an album together under the name Jonny in 2011. “He’s a longtime friend, and he was kind of part of the gang,” Blake notes.

The latest lineup resulted from the departure of founding member Gerard Love, who wrote some of the Fanclub’s best-loved songs. Blake, McGinley and Love usually had an equal number of compositions on each album, and the two remaining songwriters have divided the post-Love records equally. Songs by Childs could appear on subsequent releases.

“We haven’t ruled that out at all, but it just hasn’t happened yet,” Blake says. “There aren’t any rules here.”

“Euros has brought great harmonies,” he adds. “He also contributed on the last two records some really interesting keyboard parts.”

While the Fanclub is known as a “guitar band,” keyboards are prominent on “Nothing Lasts Forever” and its predecessor, “Endless Arcade.” Both are mostly gentler and more contemplative, qualities Blake ascribes to aging. “Inevitably, you start to reflect a bit more,” he muses.

“You find yourself more often pulling out the black tie, because you’re off to a funeral. In fact, I’ve had two in the last week.”

Despite their musical similarities, the two albums were made in very different places. The first was recorded in Hamburg — where “there’s loads of action. And madness,” according to Blake — and the second in rural Wales. (Yet another Welsh connection: Opening for the Fanclub at 9:30 Club on Friday will be Welsh musician Stephen Black, a.k.a. Sweet Baboo, who plays clarinet and saxophone on “Nothing Lasts Forever.”)

“We always like to go someplace different,” says the guitarist. “We learned very early on that it can be a mistake to make an album in your home city. Because you tend to not get very much work done.”

Self-discipline is essential, since the band hasn’t worked with an outside producer in almost 20 years, and finishes writing its material while recording. “We don’t generally arrive at the studio with songs fully formed. In fact, we do that less than we ever did,” Blake says. “Because all the other guys are great musicians, and they’ve all got really good ideas.”

While “Nothing Lasts Forever” has noisy moments, Blake is living a quieter life these days, as he acknowledges when he apologizes for being a minute late for the interview. “I was just topping up my bird feeder outside,” he explains. “It’s not very rock-and-roll, but there you go.”

Your 48-hour tour guide of Moscow this winter!

9 am – Visit the Red Square

The first thing that every tourist should do by default is visit the very heart of Moscow – it’s main and most beautiful (which ‘krasnaya’ actually meant in Old Russian) square! 

There are several ways to explore it:

• Take a selfie with Spasskaya Tower
• Have a warm drink at the Christmas market (which lasts until mid-January)
• Visit Lenin’s Mausoleum
• Shop in the gorgeous adjacent GUM department store
• Visit St. Basil’s Cathedral (and learn that it’s actually several churches under one roof).           

11 am – It’s Kremlin time! 

Inside the Moscow Kremlin

Entering the Kremlin is, actually, a bit of a quest, as it’s a presidential facility with no general access. You need to buy a ticket or, better still, book a guided tour. Inside the Kremlin’s walls, you will find ancient cathedrals, in which Russian tsars used to be crowned and buried, as well as explore the magnificent architecture of the Kremlin that reflects the rich history of the country. And, finally, you could also make a quick visit to the Moscow Kremlin Museums and admire artifacts from various Russian tsarist eras: carriages, thrones, crowns and the most incredible armory and jewelry.

2 pm – Watch the changing of the Guard

A very spectacular (and free) thing to do is watch how the honor guard does their ceremonial change at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Eternal Flame, situated in Alexander Garden, right next to the Kremlin wall. Every hour, from 8 am to 8 pm, the 1st Company of the Kremlin (Presidential) Regiment performs this rather old and beautiful tradition. But, be warned, it's often overcrowded. 

3 pm – Enjoy a green oasis just in the center

Just a few steps from the Red Square, you will find the fabulous Zaryadye park. Opened in 2017, it is designed by renowned American architect bureau ‘Diller Scofidio + Renfro’. You can walk among the very cozy botanical decorations and explore Russia’s climate zones, as each of them is represented in dedicated areas, complete with flora from those zones.

The park also has an underground museum, an “ice cave” and a 3D cinema, where you can take part in a virtual adventure – a flight over Moscow! However, the piece de resistance is a floating boomerang bridge over the Moskva River, one of the best places to take a selfie.

You can also grab a quick lunch or relax with a cup of coffee or tea in the park.

7 pm – Arrange a ballet night

The Bolshoi Theater

Of course, the most fancy way to finish your day in Moscow would be to go to the ballet at the Bolshoi Theater (in a perfect world, to see ‘The Nutcracker’!). However, getting tickets to the Bolshoi is not an easy task and should be done well in advance of your visit. 

But, don’t be upset if you don’t manage to get tickets to the Bolshoi. Moscow has dozens of other options to see a ballet (or opera). No less brilliant performances can be seen in the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theater or in The State Kremlin Palace (by the way, this is another way to get a quick glimpse inside the Kremlin!).

10:30 pm – Have a late dinner in a fancy restaurant

There are not so many other cities with such a big choice of restaurants in a range of tastes and styles. In 2021, the authoritative Michelin guide announced their pick of the best of Moscow’s restaurants. And here’s our guide to all the places with Russian cuisine for any budget. But, if you happen to be in the area of the Bolshoi or Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater, then ‘Dr. Zhivago’ would definitely be a nice option (and it’s open around the clock).

DAY 2 

9 am – grab a moscow coffee.

Moscow is definitely a coffee city! You can find coffee shops on every corner and they all offer a huge range of drinks. Try a ‘raf’ coffee, a sweet, creamy drink that was created in Russia, or dare to pick one of the very unusual offers, like cheese coffee or a Soviet candy style one (check out our coffee guide here ).

10 am – Take a river cruise

Another exciting way to explore Moscow is to observe it from the water. Boats cruise along the Moskva River all year round. Most begin their route from the Hotel Ukraine, one of Stalin's ‘Seven Sister’ skyscrapers, and will bring you back to the same spot after passing the medieval Novodevichy Convent, Moscow State University and Luzhniki Stadium, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and giant monument to Peter the Great and many other sightseeings. 

It’s always at optimum temperature inside the boat, which also has huge panoramic windows. Select boats also offer a full dining experience, so it is also a nice place to have breakfast or lunch.

1 pm – Visit ‘Russia’ Expo and taste a bunch of Russian regional cuisines

Until April 2024, the Soviet-era VDNKh exhibition park is hosting the huge ‘Russia’ expo, with tons of activities and expositions devoted to Russia, its culture, science and nature. Check out our special guide on what to do there!  

An entire ‘House of Russian Cuisine’ has been opened at the expo. You will find 15 food stands with flagship dishes from Kamchatka, Siberia, Karelia and other regions of Russia. Imagine trying a range of cuisines and dishes in one place without even having to travel anywhere, be it Altai pelmeni, Tula kalach or Caucasian pies! A perfect place to grab some lunch.

The VDNKh exhibition park is a great place to visit, in general! Its pavilions are the perfect example of Stalinit Empire style architecture and you can almost feel as if you’ve traveled back in time! You will also find several interesting museums in the park – devoted to space exploration, Russian history and even a ‘Special Purpose Garage’, which showcases the various vehicles used by the country’s leaders.

And, finally, you can ride Europe's tallest panoramic wheel – ‘Sun of Moscow’ – that will give you panoramic views of the city – from a height of 140 meters!

5 pm – Ice skate with view & mulled wine

Ice skating is one of the most popular and affordable activities in Moscow. There are several great ice skating rinks in picturesque locations that are open all winter long. One of the biggest rinks in Europe is also at the aforementioned VDNKh or you can visit the one in Gorky Park, another very popular Moscow spot, or the small, but fancy rink – right on Red Square! 

All the parks offer ice skate rental, so the only things you need are warm clothes, a charged phone to record your memories and a good mood!  Moscow also gets dark at 4:30 pm in winter and hundreds of lights are switched on, turning the city into a giant fairy tale!

And, if you are not a sports person, we’ve picked several other unusual activities that you could do in Moscow instead. For example, did you know that there is an entire district of dacha (countryside) houses, just 10 minutes from the center, surrounded by giant new highrises? How about taking a stroll there and feeling the early Soviet atmosphere?

8 pm – Warm up & laugh out loud

After all these outdoor activities, what could be better than a warm cozy bar with a hot drink and nice company? Moscow is a city full of entertainment for all tastes. So, if you know the Russian language or want to practice it, go to a theater or catch a stand-up comedy show. Moscow even has comedy shows in English, where you can hear both Russians speaking fluent English or foreigners (including Brits and Americans) who live in Russia speaking in broken or heavily-accented Russian (Check their show dates on the ‘ Moscow English Comedy ’ Telegram channel)!

11 pm – Finish by partying the night away!

Moscow never sleeps, as you might have heard. Which means there are plenty of bars and nightclubs where you can have a drink (or two or three; be sure to check out how Russians make Black Russian and White Russian cocktails) and chat with incredibly different people. Have fun and don’t miss your flight (or miss it and stay longer in the best city in the world!)!

NEW YORK (AP) — Heart — the pioneering band that melds Nancy Wilson’s shredding guitar with her sister Ann’s powerhouse vocals — is hitting the road this spring and fall for a world tour that Nancy Wilson describes as “the full-on rocker size.”

“I’ve been strengthening. I’ve got my trainer,” she says. “You go one day at a time and you strengthen one workout session at a time. It’s a lot of work, but it’s the only job I know how to do.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers who gave us classic tracks like “Magic Man,” “Crazy on You” and “Alone” will be playing all the hits, some tracks from of their solo albums — like Ann Wilson’s “Miss One and Only” and Nancy Wilson’s “Love Mistake” — and a new song called “Roll the Dice.”

“I like to say we have really good problems because the problem we have is to choose between a bunch of different, really cool songs that people love already,” says Nancy Wilson.

Like “Barracuda,” a sonic burst which first appeared on the band’s second album, “Little Queen” and is one of the band’s most memorable songs.

“You can’t mess with ‘Barracuda.’ It’s just the way it is. It is great. You get on the horse and you ride. It’s a galloping steed of a ride to go on. And for everybody, including the band.”

The tour kicks off Saturday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, and will hit cities including Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit, as well as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. International dates include stops in London, Oslo, Berlin, Stockholm, Montreal and Glasgow.

The band’s Royal Flush Tour will have Cheap Trick as the opening act for many stops, but Def Leppard and Journey will join for three stadium dates in Cleveland, Toronto and Boston this summer.

Ann and Nancy Wilson will be filled out by Ryan Wariner (lead and rhythm guitar), Ryan Waters (guitars), Paul Moak (guitars, keyboards and backing vocals), Tony Lucido (bass and backing vocals) and Sean T. Lane (drums).

The tour is the first in several years for Heart, which was rocked by a body blow in 2016 when Ann Wilson’s husband was arrested for assaulting Nancy’s 16-year-old twin sons. Nancy Wilson says that’s all in the past.

“We can take any kind of turbulence, me and Ann, and we’ve always been OK together,” she says. “We’re still steering the ship and happy to do it together. So we’re tight.”

The new tour will take them to Canada, which was warm to the band when they were starting out as what Nancy Wilson calls “a couple of chicks from Seattle.” She recalls Vancouver embracing Heart, and touring in one van across Canada in the dead of winter on two lane highways.

The Wilson sisters broke rock’s glass ceiling in the ‘70s and Nancy Wilson says they only had male influences to look to, like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Moody Blues.

Now she says she looks out and loves seeing generations of female rockers. “You have boygenius and you have Billie Eilish and you have Olivia Rodrigo and so many amazing women — Maggie Rogers and Sheryl Crow, who calls us her big influence. And then Billie Eilish might have Sheryl Crow as her influence. So it’s a really nice legacy to pass along. I like to say we’re the OG — the original gangsters — of women and rock.”

Heart has made it into the Rock Hall, won Grammys, sold millions of albums and rocked hundreds of thousands of fans but Nancy Wilson has one place she’d still like to shine.

Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of their debut album, “Dreamboat Annie,” which was the same year that “Saturday Night Live” started. “So we’re actually kind of putting it out there — Heart never played on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ But what about the 50th birthday party with Heart?”

Megadeth announces North America tour, closing out with a Nashville stop

Megadeth has announced a 2024 fall  "Destroy All Enemies Tour" that will take them all across North America. On Sept. 28, the thrash metal band will end their tour in Nashville at the Municipal Auditorium.

The 33-show tour, produced by Live Nation, will feature support from Mudvayne and All That Remains.

The two-month tour will kick off on Aug. 2 in Rogers, AR before hitting cities in Texas, California, Nevada, Florida, North Carolina and more.

The band, comprised of vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and drummer Dirk Verbeuren, is known for songs "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" and "Symphony of Destruction."

They most recently released their 2022 album "The Sick, The Dying...And The Dead!"

“Our ‘Crush The World’ tour has been a tremendous experience for the four of us,” said singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine in a statement.

“We are all playing tight, and that has made it possible for me to really focus on solos and singing, we are playing more songs than ever before, and we are closer to each other, onstage AND off. I’m excited to see Mudvayne, and All That Remains. Join us as we DESTROY ALL ENEMIES.”

Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band alive and well in 3-plus hours of thunderous hits

The pent-up demand for Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band had put ardent fans on edge.

Would the Boss' energy be the same after the rocker was forced to cancel last year's show in March due to illness and then a rescheduled performance in September due to a peptic ulcer?

Did the 74-year-old still have the stamina to navigate a stage for more than three hours? To gyrate with his guitar and hit the high notes of ballads and rock classics? To remember the lyrics as he's done for more than four decades in over 1,300 concerts with the band?

The answer, from about 20,000 devotees at Sunday's concert at Nationwide Arena, was a resounding, deafening "Yes." It was the band's first show in Columbus since 2016.

The tone was set in the opening bars of "Youngstown," a nod to the Rust Belt factories that build the weaponry "that won this country's wars," but then died off to leave empty shells and unemployment. A searing guitar solo by Nils Lofgren infused the song with powerful shards of despair.

And like the canon blast after a Columbus Blue Jackets' goal, "Lonesome Days" followed, with a jarring rim shot by drummer Max Weinberg, a percussive human metronome throughout the sell-out concert that lasted about three hours and 10 minutes.

Springsteen, in a short-sleeve denim shirt, black vest and purple tie, appeared to relish the arena crowd. With eyes often closed, he channeled deeply personal songs like "The Promised Land," The Rising," and "Ghosts."

His grimacing was not from bad joints, but during his guitar solos, thrashing the strings during extended versions of favorites such as "Streets of Fire."

He didn't pause much between songs, often exchanging one guitar for another by tossing it to a stagehand, as Weinberg continued to strafe the crowd with nonstop rhythmic transitions.

During "Spirit in the Night," Springsteen graciously walked behind the stage to focus on those seated behind the band, sauntering at times for effect.

He ended up in front, resting his legs on the edge of the stage and his back against saxophonist Jake Clemons, whose uncle Clarence Clemons, also a sax player, was one of Springsteen's closest friends.

While mortality and distant youth were themes that may have resonated with the older crowd, many of whom were in high school or college when Springsteen blasted into stardom in the late 1970s and early '80s, there were also some younger fans.

Michelle Grinestaff and her husband, Jared Schuetter, brought their daughters, Claudia, 14, and Vivian, 12, both of whom had memorized many of Bruce's hits.

"She's been playing Springsteen their entire lives," said Schuetter of his wife.

Grinestaff's attraction followed her father Jerry's, a rabid fan who, two years ago died of pulmonary fibrosis. The night before his passing, she told him she really wanted him to come to last year's concert with the girls. "He said to just make sure you have a good time," she recalled, halting to wipe a tear.

She vividly recalls that Springsteen's "Racing in the Street" was playing while to spoke to her dad. She hoped she'd hear it Sunday night.

Sure enough, the concert's 19th song, "Racing in the Street," was a beautiful rendition of love, loss and redemption with exquisite interplay between Roy Bittan's piano and Charles Giordano's organ. The audience quickly silenced, seemingly in hushed awe of Springsteen's meticulous alchemy of music and lyrics, considered by many among his best work.

The Boss still is in top form, telling the audience that his little "bellyache" from last year is a memory. "It's all good now," he said. He even skipped across the stage at one point during "Hungry Heart."

Springsteen seems to thrive on the adulation, but not in a selfish manner. He's keenly aware of audience temperament. And knowing when to end a marathon show is about having empathy for the crowd, which stood most of the night.

Typical of the band's recent encores, the iconic "Born to Run" led a string of hits, including "Rosalita (Come out Tonight)," "Bobby Jean," "Dancing in the Dark" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out."

Full, bright arena lighting illuminated the crowd during a medley of oldie covers, including a Detroit medley, "Devil with the Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly and C.C. Rider," among others.

Brothers Darrell and Don Miller, of Hilliard, both in their early 60s, recalled before the concert training for high school basketball with a coach playing the song "Born to Run" endlessly to inspire track workouts.

"It's the one song not on my playlist," said Don, "because I had to run laps to that thing for two years."

Darrell couldn't help wonder how much longer Springsteen can keep running.

"He's going overseas. This might be his ride off into the sunset," he said.

The blast furnace of a performance is the tour's last in the U.S. as the band now heads to Great Britain to begin its European tour. It returns in late summer, including two shows in Pittsburgh on Aug. 15 and 18.

Toward the show's final encore, "I'll See You in my Dreams," from his 2020 album, "Letter to You," Springsteen bent over in feigned (or likely real) exhaustion.

"I don't think you got anything left," he challenged the crowd, which answered in a deafening roar. "Are you saying you can outlast the E Street Band?"

A test of an artist's emotional reach is often found in the most distant seats. In the upper bowl, at the far end of the Nationwide stage, fans could be seen dancing, pumping their arms and waving.

Springsteen looked skyward, opened his eyes and smiled broadly.

Newbury Park school band seeks public's help finding or replacing stolen instruments

NEWBURY PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Students at a Newbury Park high school are asking the public for help after thieves stole nearly $25,000 worth of instruments after a concert this weekend.

The student musicians with Newbury Park Adventist Academy had just performed in Chula Vista Saturday night as part of a weekend music tour when someone broke into their rental truck at the La Quinta Inn.

School officials say between $20,000 to $25,000 worth of instruments were stolen.

"We had one set of bells that is particularly pricey to replace and a euphonium worth probably about $6,000," the school's principal Joel Albritton said.

Chula Vista police are investigating the theft.

Despite the bad outcome, Albritton hopes that students use this as a life lesson.

"We are most interested in making sure students understand that bad things are going to happen in their lives. The question is, how are they going to respond?"

His students have responded by reaching out to the community for help.

According to the school band's Instagram , students are seeking help finding instruments for their next performance but welcome other donations too.

Billie Eilish is dropping into Fortnite.

The Grammy and Oscar-winning recording artist has become a playable character for Fortnite Festival, a rhythm-based music game not unlike Rock Band. Eilish, 22, announced her imminent arrival to the virtual game's main stage in a post Monday on X that included a picture of her character in the game.

After teasing the partnership, Epic Games, the developer behind the massively popular online video game best known for its Battle Royale mode, released more details Tuesday.

What is the Fortnite Festival?

Epic Games worked with Rock Band developer  Harmonix to add a musical mode called Fortnite Festival to the in-game experience in 2023.

Eilish is just the latest among a slate of stars, including Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd , who have since graced the game's virtual main stage. Similar to Rock Band, the game mode allows players to join with up to three others to play a licensed soundtrack of hits songs and Fortnite originals on instruments of their choice.

If past events are any indication, players can likely expect to play as Eilish on the main stage performing her top hits that may include “ Happier Than Ever ,” “Therefore I Am” and “Oxytocin.”

As players progress through Season 3 of the Fortnite Festival, they can unlock rewards that include instruments, outfits and new songs to perform, according to Epic Games . Among those unlockable rewards is Eilish's neon green character skin and two Eilish-themed Instruments – a keytar and a microphone.

Season 3 ends June 13.

Eilish has earned no shortage of accolades and awards ever since she burst into the music scene in 2019 with her debut album "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?"

The singer/songwriter has racked up nine Grammy wins and two Oscars, the latest of which came in March when she and her brother Finneas' melancholy ballad from the "Barbie" movie, "What Was I Made For?" won best original song.

Eilish has also revealed that her third album – and first since 2021's Grammy-nominated "Happier Than Ever" – is on the way. "Hit Me Hard and Soft" will arrive May 17 .
