Been a fan of Haken since couple years ago, back when I was still in Indonesia, seeing the band live was a great addition to life experience. Kudos to O2 Academy, such a nice and intimate venue.
The gig was, unsurprisingly, pretty neat and flawless, especially Raymond behind the kits. Ross's top notch performance was another highlight, with a warm and cordial interaction with the crowd, such a loveable persona.
The only thing that kept bugging me during the show was the (un)clarity of the guitars' sound. I could barely hear the Richard and Charles soloing, which was an obvious shame to miss. But after all, enjoyed every other bit of the action.
Maschine brought a great performance too, but unfortunately the man behind the drumkits seemed to be a bit struggling with the (setting of the) kits, missed couples of the beat. Leprous were all out too, performed well. Just their avant garde-ness is not my cup of tea.
Looking forward to enjoying the next repertiore of progressive-esque music!

I was mesmerised, the band were amazing. The lead singer was great, full of energy and style, but it was as much about the rest of the band as it was about him. They were all seriously impressive and seemed to genuinely enjoy it. Even the bassist occasionally stepped out of the shadows and delivered some genius contribution, much like Richmond from the IT crowd! The final song - spoiler alert - was a cover of Africa by Toto, felt more like an 80s power ballad night than a rock gig, but everyone was joining in, even the support bands got on stage for that one. In short - awesome, great atmosphere, great gig.
Flawless performance by great musicians.
Higlights for me were 1985, The Architect, Atlas Stone and Visions.
Haken will be at the top of the Prog Scene for the next decades.
Mixed feelings about the support acts.
Really liked The Algorithm with their mix of rock/metal and techno. Will check them out in the next few weeks.
Next to None has some potential but is still a bit immature (which makes sense because they're quite young). Music is quite good, songwriting needs some improvement.
This show was off the charts!
The setlist was very well designed, there were no lulls, I was engaged from end to end.
The band are just as good live as I'd hoped, musicianship at top of their game, easily comparable to Dream Theater with far less years in the business.
The sound at The Zoo was okay. Not amazing, but enjoyable. It was a bit too loud for the venue, and some frequencies were piercing.
Don't miss Haken if they play near you!
Haken was an amazing show. Three albums and one EP later the band finally made it to america... And what a show it was! This group is technically proficient, has a wonderful singer, and (if you are a prog-head) will fill your cup. The sound ranges from Tool to Gentle Giant to Jazz fusion along with sprinklings of other prog sounds but uniquely their own. Prog fans will not be disappointed to see this supremely talented band live.
I had a great time at the show in Orlando last night! Haken rocked, and Leprous was really good as well. They make a great co-headliner.
My only complaint is with the sound mixing. The vocals and keytar were very low in the mix, so I had to pull out my phone at several points to decipher the lyrics. This may have been a drawback of the venue, which was mostly concrete walls. Other than that, the band was fantastic!
Awesome setlist! For such a small venue, sound was pretty good! Haken were great. Everyone was on-point. I was pleasantly surprised with how great Ross was live on vocals.
Only complaint was the venue was like a sauna!! Unbelievably hot in there. Had to step out several times throughout the show just to feel like I could breathe!
Haken was amazing though. Super fun show. Can't wait to see them again!
THEY WERE FANTASTIC! So energetic and just fantastic! They sound so much better in person! The only problem is now I don’t want to listen to the songs they played at the concert because it was so good that the recordings will sound bad. I’m kidding, but they really are fantastic 10/10
One of the very best shows I've ever seen.
Their cohesion, musical et technical level are amazing.
Do not miss the VIP tickets if you can arrive early in the afternoon, you will have a chat with these nice and humble guys who just play the best prog music of the decade...
As expected it was outstanding. Impressive musicians. Having Diego Tejeida playing in his Country made it extra special. The venue is world-class, but my son and I bconcurred decibels were beyond normal even for this kind of group (our only complaint). keep them coming!!

Haken announce February 2022 European tour
UK prog rockers Haken will tour 2020's Virus album for the first time
Leading UK prog rockers Haken have announced European tour dates for February 2022. You can see the full list of dates below. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
It will be the first time the UK sextet have performed live since the release of their most recent album Virus in 2020.
“It’s a huge relief to finally be able to announce a tour after such a difficult year for everyone," says drummer Raymond Hearne. "We’re incredibly excited for this one, which will be the first outing of many in 2022 in celebration of our latest album Virus . Bring on the Haken Invasion!”
Virus is the culmination of a musical thought experiment which started with 2018’s Vector . Ross Jennings explains, “whilst Virus can absolutely be enjoyed as a stand-alone work, it is thematically and conceptually linked with Vector , so our intention is to perform both albums back-to-back for a special performance someday."
Haken singer Ross Jennings recently released his debut solo single Words We Can't Unsay . He will release his debut solo album A Shadow Of My Future Self later this year.

We've missed all those familiar faces in the audience, and can't wait to welcome all the new fans to be part of the Haken live experience, too!
With new material imminent, and a bunch of songs from 'Virus' still not performed live, we're super excited to put the set list together for this run.

The band recently completed the recording of their forthcoming new studio album, their first with keyboardist Pete Jones back in the band. You can listen to the recently released single, ‘Nightingale’, below:
Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/IeENKWcitCw
Stream & download the track here: https://haken.lnk.to/Nightingale-Single
The band comments: "Nightingale was the first track Pete Jones presented to the band after rejoining Haken this year. The initial song idea quickly inspired of the classic Haken sound and naturally evolved into some new harmonic territory. The song ranges from delicate moments to monstrous riffs.
We enlisted Jens Bogren to mix Nightingale and, as always, he’s blown us away by capturing every detail while delivering power and energy. We couldn’t be happier with the finished product.
Lyrically, the song reflects on the creative process itself; with a message that although it may be difficult of late, we must remember to be thankful for the positives in life; be they big or small."
In March, the band announced the initial details of ‘Nightingale’, as well as held a competition for fans to submit their own original artwork for the forthcoming single. The winning artwork was chosen by the band themselves, from Belgium’s Rein Van Oyen.

Euronews OCEAN Season 6, Episode 4 – Understanding hake’s incredible recovery in the Atlantic
Northern hake faced a critical period of overfishing in the '90s, pushing it near the brink of collapse, with the overall biomass dangerously low for about a decade. However, the European Union's intervention in 2004, with a recovery plan that set science-based fishing limits and gear restrictions, marked the beginning of a positive change. By 2016, the hake population reached a record biomass, showcasing a significant recovery to more than triple the levels seen in 1980.
While the European hake has made a commendable comeback and is no longer seen as a species of concern by the IUCN, the situation for Mediterranean hake is less optimistic. All Mediterranean hake stocks are considered unsustainable, and despite some small signs of improvement, they are still listed as vulnerable. In this episode of "Ocean," filmed in Spain, we visit Galicia to see how the recovery of the northern hake has benefited local fishers and consumers. We then discuss what lessons can be learned from this example to improve the situation of Mediterranean hake stocks with researchers and fishermen in Mallorca.

This otherworldly, ever-changing landscape is what the Sun looks like up close. ESA's Solar Orbiter filmed the transition from the Sun's lower atmosphere to the much hotter outer corona. The hair-like structures are made of charged gas (plasma), following magnetic field lines emerging from the Sun's interior.
The brightest regions are around one million degrees Celsius, while cooler material looks dark as it absorbs radiation.
This video was recorded on 27 September 2023 by the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) instrument on Solar Orbiter. At the time , the spacecraft was at roughly a third of the Earth’s distance from the Sun, heading for a closest approach of 43 million km on 7 October.
On the same day that this video was recorded, NASA’s Parker Solar Probe skimmed just 7.26 million km from the solar surface. Rather than directly imaging the Sun, Parker measures particles and the magnetic field in the Sun’s corona and in the solar wind. This was a perfect opportunity for the two missions to team up , with ESA-led Solar Orbiter’s remote-sensing instruments observing the source region of the solar wind that would subsequently flow past Parker Solar Probe.
Spot the moss, spicules, eruption and rain
Lower left corner: An intriguing feature visible throughout this movie is the bright gas that makes delicate, lace-like patterns across the Sun. This is called coronal ‘moss’. It usually appears around the base of large coronal loops that are too hot or too tenuous to be seen with the chosen instrument settings.
On the solar horizon: Spires of gas, known as spicules, reach up from the Sun’s chromosphere. These can reach up to a height of 10 000 km.
Centre around 0:22: A small eruption in the centre of the field of view, with cooler material being lifted upwards before mostly falling back down. Don’t be fooled by the use of ‘small’ here: this eruption is bigger than Earth!
Centre-left around 0:30: ‘Cool’ coronal rain (probably less than 10 000 °C) looks dark against the bright background of large coronal loops (around one million degrees). The rain is made of higher-density clumps of plasma that fall back towards the Sun under the influence of gravity.

PGA TOUR winner, beloved Masters analyst Peter Oosterhuis dies at age 75
Change Text Size
Peter Oosterhuis was probably best known to U.S. sports fans as the longtime voice of the 17th hole at Augusta National during CBS’s annual coverage of the Masters. Golf fans, however, knew that “Oosty” was worth a listen because he could really play. The Englishman was a member of six consecutive Ryder Cup teams, first representing Great Britain and Ireland in 1971 and later competing alongside continental Europeans in the biennial tournament. Among the Americans Oosterhuis beat in singles are World Hall of Fame members Arnold Palmer, Johnny Miller and Gene Littler, and he defeated Palmer twice.
Remembering Peter Oosterhuis: Analyst, PGA TOUR winner passes away at 75
Oosterhuis parlayed his stylish game and charming British accent into a long announcing career with several networks, including CBS, for more than 15 years following his playing career. Oosterhuis retired from broadcasting in 2014 to deal with the effects of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Oosterhuis passed away peacefully this morning, one day shy of what would have been his 76th birthday.
Born in London in 1948 as the country was rebuilding from World War II, Oosterhuis enjoyed a stellar amateur golf career; he became the first schoolboy to represent Great Britain & Ireland at the Walker Cup and was a member of the Eisenhower Trophy team. He turned professional in the late 1960s and won the 1969 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award on the DP World Tour. Oosterhuis dominated the Tour by winning the Harry Vardon Trophy as leading its Order of Merit in four consecutive seasons (1971-74).

After Oosterhuis won tournaments in Africa and Europe – including the national opens of France (twice, in 1973 and 1974) and Spain, seven DP World Tour titles and three on the Southern Africa Tour all told – he made his way to the States. He qualified for the PGA TOUR and played full time from 1975 to 1986.
Oosterhuis made his PGA TOUR debut at the 1971 Masters Tournament and eventually went on to play in 343 official tournaments. Oosterhuis is still tied for the all-time lead in Ryder Cup singles victories for either side with six.

In 1981, Oosterhuis enjoyed his best PGA TOUR season as he finished 28th on the final money list. He had been a steady money-winner, with three runner-up finishes to his credit, before he broke through at the Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club outside Toronto. Trailing by three shots entering the final round, Oosterhuis fired a final-round 70 in difficult conditions to beat Jack Nicklaus, Bruce Lietzke and Andy North by one shot. The first-prize check of $76,500 was more than he had earned in any previous season.
“What a way to win after watching those big names come in and mine still staying up there on the leaderboard,” he said. “I am fortunate that the course is so tough. It allows no one to make a powerful finish.”
The following year, he finished runner-up for the second time at The Open Championship, falling to Gary Player by four shots at Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s. Oosterhuis never won again, though, and eventually explored other careers in the game.
From 1987 through 1993, Oosterhuis was the Director of Golf at Forsgate Country Club in Jamesburg, NJ and famed Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles. After working as the lead analyst for The Golf Channel’s incipient coverage of the DP World Tour, Oosty became a fixture on CBS’s broadcasting of the PGA TOUR, working the Masters from 1997 through 2014.

Having moved with his second wife Ruth Ann to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was a member at Quail Hollow Club, he retired from broadcasting following CBS’s coverage of the 2014 PGA Championship and later revealed he was battling with early-onset Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his wife, sons Rob and Rich, stepsons Byron and Matt and four grandchildren Peyton, Turner, Sutton and Lachlan.
