Bcci announce full fixtures of india's tour of south africa 2023/24.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the full schedule for India’s upcoming tour of South Africa in December-January. The series against South Africa will be India’s first major assignment after the World Cup as it will feature three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests.

In a joint statement made by BCCI and CSA, it was said, “The tour will begin with a three-match T20I series, followed by a three-match ODI series and will culminate with the Freedom Series for Gandhi-Mandela Trophy involving two Tests.”

The three T20Is are slated to kickstart with the first match on December 10th at Durban, and then continue with the second one on December 12th at Gqeberha, eventually concluding with the series finale on December 14th at Johannesburg.

 The three ODIs will start with the first encounter will at Johannesburg on December 17th followed by the second contest at Gqeberha on December 19th, with the final 50-over contest scheduled for December 21st at Paarl.  

After the limited-overs series, the two match Gandhi-Mandela series will be a part of the latest cycle of the WTC that India started with a remarkable victory against West Indies.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement, “The Freedom Series is significant not just because it features two excellent Test teams, but also because it honours Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, two great leaders who shaped our respective nations, and the world around them. The Boxing Day Test and the New Year Test are amongst the most important fixtures on the international cricket calendar and the schedule has been planned particularly around these marquee dates. India has always received strong support in South Africa, and I am confident that fans will be treated to some enthralling contests with no shortage of intensity.”

India's tour to South Africa: India are set to face South Africa in the all-format tour featuring three T20Is, three ODI matches, and a two-match Test series.

The overseas assignment begins on Sunday, December 10 in Durban with the first T20I match whereas the final match of the tour is scheduled to take place in Cape Town from January 3 to 7, 2024.

The Men in Blue will be traveling to South Africa after a gap of two years with three different captains set to lead across formats.

India recently defeated Australia 4-1 in a five-match at home after a successful World Cup campaign in which they just lost one match which was the final against Australia.

The T20I matches will start at 9:30 PM IST. The 1st ODI match will begin at 1:30 PM IST followed by the next two mtches scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM IST. The Boxing Day Test will start at 1:30 OM IST while the New Year Test will be played from 2:00 PM IST onwards.

BCCI-CSA announce fixtures for India’s Tour of South Africa 2023-24

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) are delighted to confirm the schedule of India’s all-format tour of South Africa to be played in December and January.

The tour will begin with a three-match T20I series, followed by a three-match ODI series and will culminate with the Freedom Series for Gandhi-Mandela Trophy involving two Tests.  Mr Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary, BCCI said: “The Freedom Series is significant not just because it features two excellent Test teams, but also because it honours Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, two great leaders who shaped our respective nations, and the world around them. The Boxing Day Test and the New Year Test are amongst the most important fixtures on the international cricket calendar and the schedule has been planned particularly around these marquee dates. India has always received strong support in South Africa, and I am confident that fans will be treated to some enthralling contests with no shortage of intensity.”  Mr Lawson Naidoo, CSA Chairperson, said:  “I eagerly await the arrival of the Indian Cricket Team and their passionate fans on our shores. This is an important tour for both teams and I am really pleased that we will have a full tour comprising all three formats of the game. Both South Africa and India boast exceptional talent, and we can look forward to exciting cricket and thrilling matches. The tour also allows us to showcase the best of South Africa and we have spread out matches across the nation. India cricket tour of SA: Venues and dates confirmed

The full schedule for India ‘s cricket tour of South Africa over the festive season was announced on Friday.

India and the Proteas will contest three T20 Internationals (T20Is), three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Tests from 10 December to 7 January across multiple venues.

The T20I series starts on Sunday, 10 December at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. The second and third T20Is will follow at St George’s Park and Wanderers Stadium on Tuesday, 12 December, and Thursday, 14 December, respectively.

The Wanderers Stadium will then host the Pink Day ODI on Sunday, 17 December in Johannesburg, before the sides head back to Gqeberha for the second ODI on Tuesday, 19 December. The final match of the series will be played at Boland Park in Paarl on Thursday, 21 December.

Test series

The Freedom Series, which honours two global icons in Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, gets underway with the Boxing Day Test at SuperSport Park from 26-30 December, followed by the New Year’s Test at Newlands Cricket Ground from 3-7 January.

Schedule confirmed for India's tour of South Africa

The multi-format series that begins from 10 December includes three T20Is, followed by three ODIs and two Tests, including the traditional Boxing Day Test match in Centurion and the New Year's Test in Cape Town.

The series gets underway with the three-match T20I series, which will act as preparation for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup the next year. Durban, Gqeberha and Johannesburg will host the twenty over games.

Johannesburg and Gqeberha will also host the first two ODIs with the third one played in Paarl.

"Cricket South Africa eagerly awaits the arrival of the Indian Cricket Team and their passionate fans on our shores," CSA Chairperson Lawson Naidoo said. "This is an important tour for both teams and I am really pleased that we will have a full tour comprising all three formats of the game. Both South Africa and India boast exceptional talent, and we can look forward to exciting cricket and thrilling matches.

"The tour also allows us to showcase the best of South Africa and we have spread out matches across the nation. We share an excellent rapport with the BCCI and I thank them for their support throughout the process of putting the tour in place."

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also echoed similar sentiments.

The BCCI and CSA have announced the fixtures list for India ‘s 2023/24 tour of South Africa, which will contain three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests.

The Freedom Series for the Gandhi-Mandela Trophy , featuring two Tests, will be preceded by the white-ball leg, with matches set to take place in South Africa in December 2023 and January 2024.

It includes the Boxing Day Test (December 26 to 30), which will open the Test series and will be played in Centurion.

The tour will be India’s ninth in South Africa, ever since their readmission to cricket in 1992. India last toured South Africa in 2021/22, with South Africa winning the Test series 2-1 and the ODIs 3-0.

The tournament will follow the 2023 ODI World Cup, which will finish on November 19 in Ahmedabad.

The Test series will be part of the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle, one of three overseas tours for India in the cycle.

India’s tour of South Africa 2023-24 will begin on 10th December 2023 and will end on 7th January 2024.

As the calendar flips to December, cricket fans are gearing up for an exciting clash as India will start on a month-long tour of South Africa , commencing on Sunday, December 10, 2023 and concluding on January 7, 2024. The series will two big teams taking on each other and will be featuring a dynamic mix of T20I, ODI, and test matches.

India, fresh off a victory in the T20I series against Australia, are eager to extend their dominance in South African soil. The squads for all three formats have been announced, with a strategic move of appointing distinct skippers for each. Rohit Sharma takes test captaincy, KL Rahul leads the charge in ODIs, and Suryakumar Yadav captains T20I side in absence of Hardik Pandya.

The action-packed schedule kicks off with the 1st T20I in Durban on Sunday, 10th December, followed by the 2nd T20I in Gqeberha on Tuesday, 12th December, and the 3rd T20I in Johannesburg on Thursday, 14th December. Following with three ODIs scheduled.

As the year draws to a close, the series ends with the two test matches, the 1st test taking place in Centurion and the 2nd test, in Cape Town.

Following a dominant 4–1 victory over Australia in the recently concluded five-match T20 series on home soil, Team India is now gearing up for a multi-format series in South Africa.

India is set to play a three-match T20 series, followed by a three-match ODI series. The series will conclude with a two-match Test series, during which senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are expected to make their return to the team.

With Suryakumar Yadav at the helm, the young Indian squad faces a challenging T20 series in South Africa . The tough conditions provide a big test, and with the T20 World Cup 2024 just months away, it's a significant buildup for the team.

Countdown to the 2024 edition of Africa's Travel Indaba is on!

J J ohannesburg – Africa's Travel Indaba, one of the largest global tourism trade shows, is set to take place from May 13th to 16th at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC). Drawing thousands of participants, including exhibitors from various African nations and buyers worldwide, the event is not only a platform for business transactions but also emphasizes capacity building and knowledge sharing, benefiting all attendees, including smaller and emerging businesses in the industry.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Honourable Fish Mahlalela, describes the significance of the event: "This show serves as the premier platform for showcasing Africa's diverse tourism offerings and experiences. The trade show holds immense significance for the tourism sector and the broader economy. The economic and cultural impact of this trade show is central to the success of our continent.”

Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024 promises unparalleled value for delegates with tailored networking sessions, insights-driven panel discussions, speed marketing sessions showcasing new tourism products, a sophisticated match-making diary system, airline and Tourism Grading Council pavilions, and a wide array of products from across the African tourism sector.

Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024 has already sold-out floor space. The participation of twenty-six African countries, solidifies its status as a proudly Pan African show. Furthermore, 120 SMMEs will be hosted at the Hidden Gems zone in collaboration with the Department of Tourism.

Preceding the main event is the Business Opportunities Networking Day (BONDay) on May 13th, offering invaluable networking opportunities, thought leadership discussions, and insights into global trends.

Partners for the event and provincial hosts, KwaZulu-Natal Tourism, have organized pre- and post-tours for selected delegates, including media and buyers, to showcase various experiences and products.

Mr. Siboniso Duma, MEC Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are excited to welcome Africa’s Travel Indaba back to KwaZulu-Natal again in 2024. Africa’s Travel Indaba plays a significant role in our tourism growth as KwaZulu-Natal and has immeasurable impact on our economy. Again, this year, we will have several emerging tourism entrepreneurs participating as part of the Tourism KZN, Tourism Enterprise Development Programme to afford them an opportunity to showcase their businesses and lock business deals to help them grow in the sector.”

Commenting on KZN’s readiness to host Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024, Mr. Duma highlighted the province's accommodation facilities, stating, “The province has adequate accommodation establishments within a reasonable travel distance to the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, the venue for the event.”

eThekwini Municipality Chairperson of Economic Development and Planning Committee, Councillor Thembo Ntuli emphasized the significance of Indaba for Durban, saying, “Indaba is an instrumental platform for the tourism industry which is firmly on the road to recovery. The show has become synonymous with the city of Durban as we have hosted this Africa’s critical tourism showcase over many years. The city’s economy will benefit immensely from hosting this three-day long trade showcase as hotel occupancy is expected to be between 85 to 95 percent. In addition, local tourism products and community tourism organizations are ready and eager to engage with buyers, tour operators, and travel agencies to continue selling Durban as the destination of choice.”

The 2023 edition witnessed remarkable growth, with a nearly 62% increase in attendance and over 1033 exhibiting companies, attracting 8688 delegates from twenty-two countries and contributed (R 451 546 283) to eThekwini's GDP and R 597 051 772 to KwaZulu-Natal underscoring the event's significance.

This prestigious event plays a vital role in showcasing Africa’s rich and diverse tourism offerings to the world.
