Add the views to snow-covered peaks, and the romantic vibes are complete.

In the summer, you can admire the fruit growing. As autumn get closer you can taste the fresh harvest of apples, plums, and sweet cherries, often directly from small fruit stalls along the road.

Cider from Hardanger

From fruit comes cider. “Cider from Hardanger” is a protected geographical designation in line with Calvados and Champagne. There are 19 different cider producers in Hardanger, all with their own unique product based on their apples and local history.

Our kiosk has a variety of ciders available for purchase to enjoy on board the vessel, but it is also possible to book cider tasting at the different farms along the fjord.

Explore the fjord villages

Except for being involved in fruit and cider production, all the towns and villages connected with the fjord cruise are unique. Eidfjord is the innermost port, gateway to Hardangervidda National Park, and where you can visit the massive Vøringsfossen waterfall. Ulvik is a charming small village where you find the fruit & cider route consisting of three farms which you can visit to taste and buy their products.

At Lofthus you find the historic Ullensvang Hotel with spa and a magnificent pool stretching from inside to outside. For an authentic cultural and historical experience, stop in Aga and visit Agatunet museum – one of the oldest cluster farms in Europe, dating back to 1220. Nå are, just as the other villages, places where you can visit local cider producers. Just remember to book your visit prior to arrival.

In Tyssedal, you can visit the interesting Musem of Hydropower and Industry to learn about the origin of industrial Norway, and how Odda and Tyssedal went from being a tourist destination to pioneering in hydropower and industry. Odda is the largest town by the fjord, with several cafés and restaurants to choose between, a nice pedestrian street with various shops, and good opportunities to learn more about the importance of hydro power and industry to the region.

Hardanger Fjordcruise

Her får man virkelig se hele fjordlandskapet. Folgefonna ligger som et teppe på fjellene, flotte fruktgårdar på rekke og rad langs fjorden, og et par nes utenfor Jondal ser man rett til havs!

  • aaong86 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Best tour ever! Our tour guide, Mr Vlad is very professional, knowledgeable and attentive. He picked us up from our hotel in a luxurious black Mercedes Benz v class and he specially selected songs for different parts of the tours. He even prepared fruits, cookies and homemade ginger tea for us when we reached Stegastein viewpoint. The mountains, river and Viking village are so beautiful during winter! This is definitely one of the best tours we ever had before. Highly recommended! Read more Written February 18, 2024

  • 987carmelp 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Exceptional Tour Co - deserves more than 5-stars! If only we could give 6-stars!! Our experience with Jandis Tour Company was exceptional from our very first written inquiry through our goodbyes after 2 magnificent days of touring. Jana was incredibly helpful as we worked via email to plan our tours and how they should be arranged. She offered several options, and was willing to help us as much as needed with planning and purchasing accompanying boat/train portions of our trips. She also looked ahead to cruise ship itineraries to help us understand when areas could be busier. Ultimately, we did a Highlights Tour and a Queen of the Fjords tour. We are so happy we planned extra time in Bergen and did both. While both were AMAZING, they were different experiences and we've noted a few considerations below that might help you decide if you have to choose. (Seriously, though, stay an extra day and see more! when will you be back??) Highlights Tour: experiencing the fjords and landscape from car, boat and train gives this tour a lot of variety and experiencing the Nærøyfjord on a slower, quiet boat was exceptional from our point of view. We were lucky to plan this trip on a Friday when no cruises were in town, so that made it a bit less crowded (it would have certainly been less pleasant for us had the boat/Flamsbana train been packed). This tour had a bit of everything - beautiful waterfalls, varied landscapes (including a breathtaking view from the hotel terrace), great history (via Jana, who was an exceptional guide), and a STUNNING cruise in the fjord. Things to note: for good seats on the Flam train, you need to queue (which means planning to be there at least 30 minutes prior to departure), the boat and train can be crowded (especially if a ship is in town) and you have to weigh the potential to experience the sights with how "private" you want your day and tour to be. For us, the boat trip through the fjord is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we would absolutely endorse - the scenery changes continuously and the view behind is as stunning as the view ahead. The train was more of a toss up, especially since there are other beautiful waterfalls visible on the road from Flam. Queen Tour: This is really a waterfall/fjord tour. There were several really great waterfalls that we were able to get super close to (and even one we could walk behind). The landscape is even more varied than the Highlights tour and of course, Jana shared tons of great information about specific sights, the general area, and its history. The ferry ride offers a different perspective and a nice chance to get out in the open air to enjoy a view of the area from the water. To really get the most out of this tour, you should be able to do moderate walking uphill (it's a short but moderate exertion hike to/from several waterfalls and the carvings). This tour is also great if you want a bit of time at the end of the day for other activities (like touring around Bergen). We couldn't have been happier with our choice of Jandis. We left feeling like we had just spent two days with a friend that wanted us to see and experience everything they love about this amazing place they live. I'll say again - book the extra day! • X2639MNdavids 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A great tour from Bergen The trip around the different fjords offered many truly beautiful views. Though we had some rain during our drive there were many opportunities to record the awe-inspiring nature of Norway that we can look at in the future to remind us of the fantastic experience. Of course, these sights of nature were only enhanced by the information shared by Vlad, our driver and guide, offering cultural and historical observations to what we were seeing. All four of us agreed we were lucky to find this tour during our visit to Bergen. Read more Written September 6, 2023
