Jungle Party Cake Ideas
Whether you’re throwing a cute party for your baby or toddler or a more sophisticated bash, these leaf printables jungle cupcake toppers will fit right in. They’re stylish without being over-the-top “cute” and can take cupcakes from “meh” to “amazing” in minutes with cute palm leaves and tigers. | Oh Happy Day
This colorful jungle-themed birthday cake will dazzle on any dessert table. Adorable safari animals and trees surround the bottom layer of the cake, while animal tracks adorn the top layer, along with the child’s age. You’ll find loads more ideas here, like the animal cookie sandwiches, banana pudding for monkeys, and some charming cupcakes with fondant animal toppers. | Roxy’s Kitchen
Want to DIY a cake yourself? It’s super easy to do. Make a basic two-tiered chocolate cake, and add some jungle animal figurines to the top. With jungle animal toys (or safari animals), it’s pretty simple, but it still looks professional and polished. | Kara’s Party Ideas
Safari Birthday Party Food
You’ll find so many cute jungle party foods here, from the snake sandwich, to the lion hummus, to the adorable cupcakes. Even the zebra bites and tiger tales are magazine worthy (and drool worthy). All of the ideas are simple to execute. Don’t make the ideas complicated with a jungle recipe, run to subway and let the sandwich artist do this meat, cheese and bread laying. You just add the pretty decor. | Chelsea’s Messy Apron
How amazing are these zebra chocolate covered strawberries? While they look difficult to make, they’re actually quite easy by dipping the strawberries in white chocolate first and then dipping the tip in milk chocolate while drizzling some up the “nose” using a spoon to create stripes. | Arts Crackers
Offer a healthy option that’s still cute and fun, like these jungle fruit and veggie trees. Carrot sticks and celery make excellent tree trunks, while apple or pear slices are the perfect leaves. | Honey and Lime
Here’s another healthy snack that’s sure to make the kids smile—tiger cub cuties. Draw the faces on with a Sharpie or a food-safe marker if you have concerns about the permanent marker. | Pen Lights to Pacifiers
Set up a jungle display on your buffet party table by weaving faux greenery throughout the dishes on your table. Include a mix of meats, veggies, and kid-friendly fare like pinwheels and sandwiches. | Catch My Party
Jungle Party Décor Ideas
With some cute safari animals (think giraffes, elephants, zebras, and tigers) and a few inexpensive jungle party supplies from Dollar Tree, you can make fabulous centerpieces for your jungle-themed party for just a few bucks each. These low-cost party decorations make cute party favors too. | Drugstore Divas
Put these animal party cups together to hold snacks like popcorn, candy, or individual cups of veggies and dip. You’ll need craft paper, glue, and scissors to transform your cups into monkeys, giraffes, or parrots themed treats. | Makes and Takes
Every detail of this neutral safari party is gorgeous. From the wooden crafts for displaying the cupcakes and cake, to the pretty favor boxes filled with animal crackers, the tan and brown colors all tie together nicely. I especially love the DIY rosettes in the background of the dessert table. | A Pumpkin and a Princess
Make an eye-catching balloon arch using animal print balloons along with colors that tie into the overall color scheme for the party. This pop of color will be perfect for taking photos with family and friends. | Kara’s Party Ideas
Cut animal silhouettes out of cardboard or foam board, paint them, and set them up in various places at your venue. They’ll look fantastic anywhere, from sitting in tall blades of grass, near a tree, or hanging on a wall if you’re partying indoors. This website also has free jungle party printables. | Windmill and Protea
Safari Party Activities for Kids
Set up a crafting area for the children to make a colorful paper plate lion. The design is simple enough for even young kids to do, but all ages will enjoy it. If you want to avoid a mess with paint, use yellow paper plates and red, brown, and orange paper strips instead. | Taming Little Monsters
For a simple, mess-free craft, try these cardboard tube monkeys. Cut the ears and face out of cardstock or construction paper, and add a pipe cleaner tail. How simple is that? | Jinxy Kids
Put on your safari hat. Provide a photo op for kids and parents alike using this Jeep idea! You’ll need a cardboard Jeep cutout and some willing adventurers to smile for the camera. | Arts Crackers

Wild jungle party ideas.
It’s always such a treat to get great pictures from a customer!
This jungle party birthday set up is full of fantastic ideas with fun decorations, wild animal snacks, and roaring favors. All for your DIY pleasure of course.
Keep reading! I will show you where to get most of everything you see!
Jungle Party Decorations
Melissa did such a wonderful job setting up this jungle party table for her son’s 3rd Birthday. The parts in “ quotes ” are notes from Melissa.
“My son is really into animals right now, so a safari theme party was a no brainer. I did some searching on the Web for animal themed decor and came across your printables. I thought they would make for wonderful decorations for my son’s party.”
“I wanted a nice background for pictures and the kids could stand in front of the table without blocking view of the tablescape. Or the parents could stand behind the table and also get a nice picture. Your printables allowed us to put our own spin on almost all the decor used for the tablescape.”
She created a focal point with a custom banner she made herself with the jungle party printable set and and array of safari and zoo pompom animals. The green plastic tablecloth and grass skirt created a simple and perfect start to her table.
Note the rustic upside down basket on which she set the cake. It’s little inexpensive details like this, using things you have around the house, that can transform a table from boring to exciting.
I just love how she framed the full sheet jungle party sign on a frame with chicken wire then added some fresh leaves for a wild look.
“Your printables also added that personal touch which I loved and really made it my son, Megatron’s party. His real name is Sheldon Megatron Btw.”
“The little animals that were all hiding among the snacks and party favors were a last second addition from my husband and I agreed.”
Little plastic zoo animals were perched on everything, creating a real wild party. The Safari animal tattoos doubled as fun decorations too.
“The kids loved the animal masks and where making the animal noises of the mask that they were wearing which was super cute. “
Jungle Party Snacks
I was really impressed at the array of creative snacks on the table!
“After I found the decorations I next searched for safari themed baked goods. I was able to combine your printables, the baked goods and little extras like the little plastic animals toys I found at the local crafts store to make a sweet tablescape. I thought it would give all the little ones something to look at and each time they would notice something new!”
These tiger tails made with pretzel sticks look so yummy! Did you notice the gazelle perched on top?
The animal prints cake pops were so well presented in their own basket with tissue paper grass. I see a giraffe hiding in there!
The Hershey minis wrapped in the jungle party printable wrapper did double duty as decorations and treats. Even the Hershey kisses got their own labels. Buying the black Kisses and calling them bear poop was genious.
“The little animal poop chocolate kisses I thought would be cute given that there were little animals all throughout the table”
Simple cupcakes got a wild jungle make-over with printable wrappers and custom toppers!
And some super cute jungle cookies are being garded by a serious rhino!
Jungle Party Favors
Those were some very lucky kids at Megatron’s birthday party! They sure came home with a loot! Not only did the kids get a big favor box full of little gifts, they also went home with safari tattoos and animal cracker treats in individual bags.
It’s easy to style a beautiful party table when you start with a set of quality party printables. Use the printables to set the color scheme and theme of the party. Once you’ve done that, finding decorative elements and snacks to match becomes a piece of cake. Whilst there are some specific party ideas further down the post with decorating ideas, the simplest way to decorate the party space is to stick to the earthy colors. Think of brown, green, yellow, orange and white as a good starting point and it’s easy to build from there.
It is a good idea to create a party backdrop . This can easily be achieved using budget friendly plastic tablecloth’s in your chosen party colors.
Next create some tissue paper garlands to hang around the area and suddenly you already have the perfect jungle feel. Make some vines by twisting together brown craft paper. Add vine and palm leaves to them for extra effect.
If you have any stuffed safari animals, use them as decoration props. It is also a great idea to look out for them at second hand shops.

- Obtain an animal cookie cutter of choice for some fun cookies

Planning the perfect party doesn’t have to be exhausting! Choosing a theme is half the battle but once you find inspiration for your theme you’ll find your idea will quickly come together. Safari themed birthdays are a great way to get your child’s and their guest imagination moving.
You can make a big impact in a space with decorations that make your guest feel like they just stepped into a jungle. Many kids love animals which makes this such a fun party theme, not to mention it is extremely gender neutral. We have composed 20 ideas and recipes so that you can plan the perfect safari themed party. So grab your binoculars, put on your safari vest and let’s go on this adventure together.
1. DIY Balloon Centerpiece
These balloon centerpieces were initially designed for a pineapple themed party but their tropical themed arrangement would work perfectly for a safari theme too. This step by step tutorial is super easy you’ll have a big impact arrangement in no time at all.
Balloon centerpieces are a great way to fill up space while keeping it interesting and entertaining for the kids. If you don’t have a table big enough to host the arrangement you could consider attaching it to your wall for decor.

2. Sand Slime
It seems like slime is the latest craze with the kids these days. Glitter slime, neon slime, you name it and there is probably a slime variation of it. The texture alone is probably the most fun part of slime, you can stretch it, pull it, twist it and form it into anything you want.
Why not impress all the kids at your party with sand slime. You could consider making this sand slime to use as an activity in a sensory box depending on the age group or you could make this slime to send home as part of thank you gift to your guests.

3. DIY Binocular Favors
These do it yourself binocular favors will definitely get all the kids excited at your safari themed party. They’re easy to make and require minimal tools and resources. They’re super simple that you can have the whole family jump in on the craft making.
Fill these binoculars with treats and trinkets to send home with your guests. If you already have party favor plans you could consider making these binoculars for the kids to wear while at the party or make a fun eye spy game out them too.

4. DIY Treasure Stones
These treasure stones are a fun and easy do it yourself project that you can do for your safari themed party. They’re super adaptable for many different themed parties because you could call them dinosaur eggs, stones or cannon balls. These treasure stones are made out of coffee grinds, flour, sand, and water. It has a playdough-like texture that can harden.
Place a secret treasure in the middle and let the kids go on a safari hunt to find the treasure stones in your yard. You could even have them use the binoculars you made in the previous tutorial to scout for their treasures. The rocks are hard enough to keep the trinket inside but are easy enough for younger kids to break open.

5. Animal Figure Decor
This blog shows you how you can take an animal themed party and modernize it. You can find animal figurines at many places like Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and even many dollar stores. Consider using them as decor for an inexpensive way to decorate your space.
You could use the animal figurines as cake toppers to fill up space as well as dress up a simple cake. You can even use them as centerpieces on your table. If you place them on candle holders you can create dimension within your centerpiece.

6. Rainforest In A Jar
This rainforest in a jar is a very fun project that you could use for decorations at your safari themed party. However, if you have older kids you could consider making this a fun craft for everyone to do at the party.

Foil balloons seem to be all the rage as of late. For good reason because, hello, they’re super fun! Foil balloons come in all sizes, colors, letters, and numbers. A phrase like “wild one” is very fitting for a safari themed party.
You could consider complimenting the foil balloon arrangement with a statement wall piece like this backdrop. It is made from brown paper twisted to look like vines. Add some leaf cutouts and you’ll have a jungle wall in no time.

Using a rolling pin and bubble wrap you can achieve a textured painted snake very quickly. If you don’t have a rolling pin you could even use a slender cup so each child can paint their own. Once the plates are dry simply cut the snake in a swirl shape, glue on eyes and tongue and voila, it’s done!

14. Safari Tour
Interactive activities are a great way to keep your guests busy as well as keep them moving around. Afterall, a lot of kids love to run around a play. How else are they going to burn off all that sugar? This print out was originally designed for a preschool classroom but it can make a great party activity too.
If you’re having an outdoor party you could place stuffed animals around the yard, if you don’t have enough or all the animals called for on the sheet you could simply print off a picture of the animals instead. Have the kids go on a scavenger hunt and check off once they find all the animals. You could even make it a contest and have there be a prize for the guest who finds all the animals first! If you’re having the party indoors you can do the same just hide the animals throughout your house instead.

15. Safari Passport Invitations
Once you have decided on your theme the next step is to usually get the invitations ready to send out. Having the invitations themed to match the party is a great way to let your guest know what to expect as well keeps things creative and fun.
These safari passport invitations are a great idea and very customizable. This tutorial walks you through how you can make your own. The original design includes a photo of the birthday child but you could always leave the photo blank so your guests can draw a picture of themselves and bring their passport to the party.

16. Adopt A Pet Party Favor
Party favors are a great way to give a thank you to your guests for coming to your party. After the kids have enjoyed their safari themed party you could set up a pet adoption center. Fill the pet station with safari stuffed animals and let each kid pick their own.
If you’re worried about disagreements of who get’s what animal you could always assign the adoptions yourself. Your guests will remember this fun safari themed party for a long time.

17. Animal Cracker Funfetti Cake Batter Dip
Animal crackers are one of the easiest ways to get animal themed food at your party. This delicious snack resembles a kid-favorite snack, Dunkaroos.
This recipe only requires 4 ingredients and only takes 10 minutes to make. Serve this dip with delicious animal crackers and your guest will be dipping into this savory snack the whole time.

18. Lion Hummus
If you have a hard time getting your kids to eat healthy foods then you’ll definitely want to serve this platter at your safari party. Make healthy food fun by creating animal shapes.
Kids have big imaginations and if you can make healthy food look well, not healthy and more fun then they’re bound to eat it. This recipe is super easy because it uses store-bought hummus. The hardest job you’ll have with this recipe is cutting all the vegetables.

19. Quick And Easy Fringe Garland
Another great way to decorate your safari themed party would be to make your own leaf garland. You can transform your space into a jungle with this easy do it yourself project.
Making fringe garland is an easy alternative to cutting out individual leaves. You get the same colors and effect but it is a whole lot easier and stays within your theme. As an added bonus this garland is super inexpensive and creates a big impact in a room.

How To Host a Wild and Fun Jungle Theme Party
If you’re a party animal with an urge to host a jungle theme party, we’re with you. Visions of palm fronds, exotic birds, and tropical flowers dance across our imaginations, inspiring party ideas for a host of different events.
Whether you’re planning a jungle-inspired or safari-themed birthday party, baby shower, graduation , or other fun event, this guide will help you set the scene. You’ll also get some digital invitation inspiration that will have your guests going wild with excitement.
3 Steps to Hosting a Jungle Theme Party
There’s a wide variety of options for a jungle theme party. You can opt for bright hues or baby animals in soft pastels to suit a baby’s first birthday party or select more elegant prints and party decor for a teen’s sweet 16 . You can also modify the jungle theme to suit a graduation party by hosting a jungle luau to honor the journey into the “concrete jungle.”
Whatever jungle or safari theme party you choose to host, here are some ideas ranging from animal-inspired decorations to tasty feasts you can serve up.
Go Wild With Decor
When it comes to the color scheme of a jungle theme party, animal print is king. Use animal motifs and colors like orange, green, and brown when decorating the event space. The jungle is also a bright and lively space, so hues like magenta and red can be peppered throughout the party decor — think orchids and hibiscus flowers that bloom in the jungle.
Here are some great jungle decor items to consider for your upcoming bash.
- Balloon decorations: No event is complete (especially a safari theme birthday party) without party balloons! Look for animal balloons featuring tigers, elephants, monkeys, and other wild beasts. You can also opt for zebra stripe or animal print balloons. Display them around the event room, make a DIY balloon garland , and tie a few special latex balloons to the chair for the birthday boy or birthday girl.
- Safari animal stickers: If your jungle-themed party is a kid’s event, get some animal stickers they can use to decorate cards or stick on each other. Giraffes, zebras, lions, and crocodiles are all great choices. For an even wilder atmosphere, look for animal stickers in vibrant colors or metallic designs that shimmer and shine.
- Animal print tableware: Set the stage for a jungle-inspired meal with animal print tablecloths and animal table decorations. For easy clean-up and an easy design element, use paper plates, cups, and napkins featuring a safari theme. For a young child’s birthday party, consider plates featuring wild animal faces. For older kids or an adult safari party, look for jungle motifs like monstera or palm leaves and jungle animal prints, which can be more elegant.
- Confetti: Never mind the clean-up. There’s something about confetti that makes a party even more fun. Sprinkle animal print confetti on the table or hand out party favor bags or goodie bags with party poppers packed with confetti.
- Birthday banner or backdrop: If you’re hosting a jungle birthday party or baby shower, draw attention to the guest of honor with an animal-inspired backdrop. Hang an animal print on the wall, use wild animal wall stickers, or make a balloon arch with green, orange, and brown balloons. You can even find large safari wall stickers on Etsy and Amazon that the mother-to-be or birthday kiddo can repurpose in the nursery or bedroom.
- Photo Booth: Capture memories of the day and relive the fun of your jungle theme party with a photo booth. Set up a themed backdrop and have plenty of photo props such as animal cutouts, animal face masks, safari hats, and animal print glasses.
- Live animals: This may be over the top, but live animals are the ultimate VIPs when planning a safari zoo party. Some party planning companies offer exotic animals like camels for large events while others offer horse rides. You can even consider a virtual experience with companies like Dave’s Jungle , which offers virtual live animal and reptile shows. Alternatively, you can take the party to the zoo or a wildlife learning center where you can get up close and personal with incredible creatures.
Get Dressed Up in Costume
If you’re hosting an animal party, consider asking guests to don their wildest attire. Whether you’re going all-out with costumes or simply suggesting wild prints, dressing up is always a fun idea. You can also offer animal party hats to make dressing up easy.
You can find animal costumes in adult and kid sizes, including fleece options, which are great for those cold-climate celebrations. If you’re looking for something more elegant, ask guests to sport their best animal prints. From zebra high heeled shoes to leopard print shirts, there are great options for safari theme parties that are more upscale in nature.
For the more laid-back Safari Steves and Sallys out there, khakis, linen pants, and bush jackets — basically the staple items for safari attire — are a surefire way to get in the spirit of the theme.
Fun and Filling Food Ideas
The food you choose should match your jungle party theme. If you’re hosting a whimsical safari baby shower, delicate cupcakes with mint green frosting are a great choice. Don’t forget to add animal-themed cupcake toppers such as sweet blue elephants or pink lionesses for a festive look.
If you’re hosting a child’s birthday party, you can serve a larger meal to keep the ravenous wild animals content while playing with their friends. Get creative with a cheese and salami platter in the shape of a lion’s mane or cut up a sub sandwich and lay it out on the table like a snake. If you want to create a more substantial meal, grab a bag of zoo pasta with animal noodles.
For easy snacking, set out bowls of pretzels — label them as jungle logs — and peanuts that you can call elephant snacks. A bowl of bananas can be presented as monkey treats and gummy snakes fit right in with the jungle theme.
Don’t forget to set up a spot where guests can quench their thirst. For an adult party, serve up jungle cocktails or jungle juice using ingredients like rum, lime juice, and pineapples. For kid parties, offer lemonade or other alcohol-free drinks in jungle-themed cups.
If you’re hosting a birthday party, put some thought into a safari birthday cake . You can order a sheet cake featuring various jungle animals or find a simple cupcake recipe and decorate it with animal crackers as cupcake cake toppers. If you want a more elegant cake topper, paint miniature animal figurines in non-toxic gold and place them on the top of the cupcakes.

Jungle Safari Birthday Party Ideas

My young friend Sidney was born a conservationist. I’ve never met another person so enamored with or concerned for animals. She even had her wildly talented mother turn her room into a treetop hut overlooking the Costa Rican jungles–with all the correct trees and animals painted on the walls. When her birthday rolled around this year, she wanted to celebrate with a safari birthday party theme.
I was grateful I was given leave by young Sidney to mix up my animals from different continents. 🙂
Remember when I told you Sidney’s mom was wildly talented? I mean ridiculously artistic. I showed up with the ideas and a menu, and her mom put an amazing amount of polish on them. You’ll see what I mean!
Sidney’s mom, Susan, painted this sign for the front door on a piece of cardboard, then aged it. We’ll give styling points to Sidney for the palm fronds across the entrance!
Jungle Safari Tablescape
My part was to come up with a table for the party guests to eat at and a dessert table. Just like last year’s Left Shark party , everything had to be done low cost and EASY. We made almost everything from paper, so check, and semi-check!
Sidney helped decorate outside as well. Members of her very large collection of stuffed animals were strategically placed around the party. This lemur ( buy here ) kept the tablescape company.
I really lucked out with the table settings! The centerpieces were from the watercolor fishing baby shower and recycled to fit our jungle/safari party theme. I put a few fiber optic butterflies ( buy here ) in the thickets to delight the girls.
The placemats and plates were a clearance find at Hobby Lobby, and matched everything wonderfully well! I found paper printed to look like burlap in the dollar bins at Target over the summer and used that for a table runner. If you can’t find a roll of paper for your runner, you can buy a real burlap runner similar to it here.
Seriously, my favorite part was the animals in party hats. My helper made these, and I love the detail! She even cut mini-festooning for the edges after starting with a few plastic safari animals ( buy here ).
Each place setting also sported a pair of binoculars that were also a party favor ( buy here .) Sadly, I didn’t catch a picture of the safari helmets ( buy here ) the girls got as well–but they had a great time with them! Everyone decorated their helmets at the beginning of their party with a little glam.
Other Safari Party Decor
Back to my amazing friend Susan! She made this really fantastic guidepost for the party. Again, she used cardboard to make each individual sign. After painting them, she burned the edges to age the signs, nearly giving Sidney a heart attack that the art was going to be ruined in the process. (Ha!)
My helper that made the animals with party hats also designed some templates for a few tissue paper pom parrots. The parrot is sitting on vines made from twisted brown craft paper and freehand cut leaves. C LICK HERE TO LEARN TO MAKE THIS DIY TISSUE PAPER PARROT.
Safari Birthday Party Food
We laid out a few snacks for the girls while they were running around and swimming (this was a pool party), and made a few in-theme containers for them to go in. Accompanied, of course, by animals in party hats!
The cheetah was my favorite!
Pretzel rods dipped in candy melt and drizzled with chocolate made great “Tiger Tails.”
Nothing could be easier than these Zebra Cake Pops! Buy the Little Debbie snack cakes ( like these) , and put them on sticks made for holding cookies ( but here ) and pop them in a vase. Done!
Here are a few more of my favorite shots from the party…
Safari Birthday Party Activities
Sock puppet animals. Since this was a pool party, we didn’t have to plan much, but we worked in a craft for the girls to do while we waited for all the guests to arrive. We put out socks and a wide variety of ribbons, pipe cleaners, google eyes and material and told the girls to make sock puppet animals.
Pith Hat decorating. The plastic hats got the royal treatment using the same supplies as we put out for the sock animals. This was really a two for one for prep work!
Scavenger hunt. Sidney’s dad created a scavenger hunt that had them running all over. He did a little bit better than I did at Maddie’s Glam Emoji party , as the girls took a little longer to get through to the end to find the treasure chest. Which coincidentally, was a chest of silly string they proceeded to have a battle with in the front yard.
Everyone in attendance had a really fantastic time, and Sidney’s mom and dad’s extra special touches made the party really spectacular!

Use an easily recognizable cutout shape of an animal, like a elephant, as your invitation.
Party Decorations
Lots of green and brown balloons, streamers, etc.
- If inside, hang sheets of green butcher paper on the walls, Make vines out of twisted brown kraft paper or brown grocery sacks, and attach large green construction paper-shaped leaves.
- Mix some rubber snakes and jungle stuffed animals into your décor
- Create some jungle flowers ( using these luau flowers as a guide )
- For the Cake Table - Raffia Table Skirting!
Jungle Safari Party Arrival Activity
- Face painting – have a helper draw tiger stripes or other fun details on each child’s face.
- Decorate a plastic pith helmet with animal stickers
- Decorate binoculars with stickers
- Make binoculars (if you have adult helpers who can oversee this) by decorating toilet paper rolls and taping them together. Punch holes in the sides for yarn so the binoculars can hang around their necks.
Favorite Jungle Safari Party Animal Games
- Note: Most of the games listed have to do with a specific jungle animal. Set these games up in different areas of your party space. Play up the theme by going “on safari” with your binoculars to look for the animal that is the focus of the each game.
- Animal Hunt – Have a helper hide stuffed jungle animals, or little plastic animal figurines in the party area. On “Go”, the children must find the number that you specify (such as find 1, find 3, etc.) and bring them to you.
- Animal Charades – Select one child to be “It” and stand up in front of the group. Tell “It” to think of an animal, and then act out what the animal does. The kids try to guess what animal it is. For young children, provide them with an idea of the animal.
- Hot Animal – Play Hot potato, but with a stuffed jungle animal.
- Bean Bag Toss – “Feed” bean bags to a tiger or other animal drawn on posterboard with a hole for their mouth.
- Pin the Trunk on the Elephant – Draw an elephant on posterboard and make a “trunk” for each child to “pin” on the poster (use double stick tape).
- Tiger, Tiger, Lion – played like Duck, Duck Goose, but use the words Tiger, Tiger, Lion instead!
- Monkey See, Monkey Do – played like Follow the Leader. Select one child to be the monkey and either form a line behind this child or have him stand up in front of the group. The monkey will move around and all the children have to copy the actions.
- Zoo Animal Tug of War - have a game of tug of war, with kids pretending to be differnt animals.
- Lion, Lion, are you Hungry? - One person is the lion, and stands at one end of the yard. The kids are at the other end of the yard. The kids yell together, “Lion, Lion, are you hungry?” to which the Lion will say “No, not really, come closer”. The kids will all come a little closer and ask the question again. This happens over and over, until the Lion finally answers “Yes”! At this point he tries to catch as many children as possible and they become lions too. The game starts over, with the new lions on one side of the yard and the other kids at the other side of the yard.

GO WILD! JUNGLE & SAFARI PARTY IDEAS
Calling all party animals! A safari party is a wonderfully wild way to celebrate any occasion. From jungle themed birthdays to safari themed baby showers, the possibilities are endless!
We’re sharing everything you’ll need to throw the best safari theme party on this side of the savannah. So, grab your binoculars as we begin our exploration through the best safari and jungle party ideas!
Set The Scene
Using the right safari party decorations is essential for an immersive party experience. Start by transforming your party space into a lush jungle. You can decorate with green foliage, palm leaves, and animal print fabrics.
If you’re throwing a safari birthday party, we suggest popping in some balloons. This leafy green balloon garland kit is a wonderful safari decoration that you can display anywhere. You can even spruce it up with a fun giraffe or zebra balloon.
And if you’re feeling adventurous, grab a black permanent marker and a jumbo balloon or two! After inflation, draw fun animal prints like cheetah spots or zebra stripes on them!
Dress The Part
Encourage your guests to embrace their wild side by asking them to wear their best safari explorer attire. An ideal jungle theme party outfit would include khaki clothing, safari hats, and animal print accessories.
On the flip side, you can ask your guests to dress like their favorite safari animal! If you’re winging it, this parrot costume is colorful and fun! Be sure to have some animal theme birthday party hats ready for anyone in need of some extra spots or stripes!
Exotic Eats
When it comes to the best safari party food ideas, the more variety the better. Your menu should be as vibrant and exciting as the jungle itself, so choose foods that are fresh and colorful.
We suggest starting with tropical fruit skewers featuring an array of juicy pineapple, mango, kiwi, and watermelon. You can also serve mini sliders topped with grilled pineapple and tangy barbecue sauce for a delightful combination of flavors.
For a jungle party food idea that’s a bit more adventurous, serve bite-sized samosas! Perfect for fêtes with an older crowd, they can be filled with aromatic spices and vegetables.
Finally, don’t forget to have exotic eats that are sweet! If you’re throwing a safari themed birthday party, the focal point should be on the cake. You can decorate it with colorful frosting and jungle animal toppers. And if you’re planning a “Wild One” party, top it all off with this darling acrylic cake topper set !
When it’s time for your party animals to feast, keep things tame with a sturdy tableware setting. We recommend mixing and matching some animal print party supplies with animal pattern party supplies.
You can also take the rainforest route and use some “into the jungle” plates , napkins , and cups . It would make a perfect place-setting combo for a jungle cruise party! To complete the look, you can hang some paper lanterns or animal print balloons from the ceiling. For added effect, scatter some animal figurines and jungle-themed confetti on your party table.
Safari Party Games & Activities
To give your guests the full safari experience, make sure you plan lots of thrilling activities. You can set up a “wildlife photo booth” complete with safari props, such as binoculars and animal masks. Partygoers will love pretending to be on a safari. And, you’ll love the adorable pictures that come out of it!
Scavenger hunts are another exciting jungle birthday party activity. Simply hide animal-themed clues around the venue that lead to a treasure trove of safari party favors. You can even play it up by putting the prizes in these ferocious favor bags !

My sweet and sticky story of motherhood | #momwinning, safari party food ideas.
Welcome to the Jungle, Party Animal! Let’s get WILD and grab yourself a handful of Gorilla Poop {chocolate covered raisons} because this post is all about the food! If you’re surfing Pinterest for some Safari Party Food Ideas you’re in the right place. I’ll try to be short on words because let’s face it, this post is totally more about the party eye candy and scroll worthy pictures.
I have no intention of passing myself off as a caterer or master chef at anything, so do not be deceived. None of my parties ever have gourmet food. But, what they ALL have are clever names for everything. Ask anyone, it’s my favorite item on my party checklist: Cleverly Name the Food…
I’m not that excellent at cooking/baking but I excel in punny humor. My ideas for the Safari Party Food was no exception. I also excel in making everyday things that are simple, like cutie oranges fill up an entire food display. Feast your eyes, party animals…

Safari Party Food Ideas | Snacks
We’ll start small and cover the snack first. I went for the whole Market Place theme with good in paper bags. I’ve always loved those scenes in Disney’s Aladdin where the Marketplace vendors offer Jasmin dates and pistachios. I suppose I was channeling my inner Disney with this party setup. The names for the food were fun to do too. Most of the snack food is very simple and can be bought in the bulk foods section of Winco.
Here is my list:
- Banana pies – Banana Moon Pies
- Monkey Chow – Banana Chips
- Snake Eggs – Green Grapes
- Gorilla Poop – Chocolate covered raisins
- Giraffe Spots – Rye Chips
- Banana Treats – Runts Bananas {I bought on Amazon!}
- Beetle Wings – Lays Potato Chips
- Tree Roots – Pretzel Sticks
- Elephant Snacks – Peanuts
- Zebra Cakes – Zebra Cakes
- Jaguar Claws – Bugles
- Grubs – Gummy Worms
- Animal Crackers – Animal Crackers
- Lizard Eyes – Hummus
You can find all of my labels available as a digital download on Etsy .
Safari Party Food Ideas | Appetizers
There were a few bigger items that we ate with our Snake Subs. These 2nd level foods took a little more work than just emptying them into a bowl and slapping a cute label on it. So naturally, I recruited my mom, the Original Party High Priestess and Captain of the Pun Team to assist. She made these food items:
- Lion’s Main – Veggie tray with ranch dip
- Ladybugs – Caprese Skewers
- Tiger Cub Cuties – She also drew all these tiger faces!
Safari Foods Ideas | Snake Sub Sandwich
Now for the main course. My entire plan for this food table centered around this giant Snake Sub Sandwich I just had to make. The tricky part was getting it all cut and out the door, then on the table and everyone through the line before the bread got hard. I bought those super soft loaves of fresh-baked bread from Safeway and we cut it up.
I used my acrylic cupcake tower as an elevation and made the snake coil around it. The same roll of brown craft paper I used to make the vines came in super handy! I premeasured my space and rolled up the serving paper for the Snake Bread the day before the party. This way I knew where everything would go and fit.
The snake is all bread {+ a face} and the fixings were brought out last since they’re not on the ice. Here is my list with the Food Names:
- Provisions – Cheese Slices
- Too Talky Toucan – Lunchmeat {Roasted Turkey}
- Wild Boar – Lunchmeat {Ham}
- Defiant Parrot – Lunchmeat {Rotisserie Chicken}
The Defiant Parrot making a repeat appearance from Cash’s 2nd Pirate Party . Even more fun food names over there! Including Seagull Poop… hmmm… seems to be a theme for the boys’ parties…
Safari Party Food Ideas | Desserts
The look on this little Grub-Eater’s face makes it all worth it. His “Cash is King” Custom Cake Topper from my Etsy Shop is his own design. Roth’s Bakery once again did an amazing job for me on the cake and cupcakes. I always walk in with a list of expectations and they have pulled through every time. We went simple this year with a grassy area for his toy Lion who is also King.
For many of the cupcakes, we used a large polka dot circle cupcake Topper in the themed paper. Honestly, I just made as many I could from the scraps of the WILD Banner .
Finally, after the kids located the Elusive Leopard Torch we were able to cut cake and serve the cupcake toppers. You can find these glitter Safari Cupcake Toppers in my Etsy Shop . I offer them in 28 Glitter choices.

Jungle Safari Party Ideas
If you're planning a party and looking for a fun and unique theme, why not consider a jungle safari party? With its wild and adventurous vibe, a jungle safari theme is perfect for both kids and adults. Here are some ideas to help you plan the ultimate jungle safari party.
Invitations
Start by creating some fun and exciting invitations to set the tone for your jungle safari party. You can create invitations in the shape of jungle animals like lions, tigers, and zebras, or you can use jungle-themed stickers and stamps to decorate your invitations. Make sure to include all the important details like the date, time, location, and dress code.
Decorations
The decorations are a crucial part of any party, and a jungle safari party is no exception. Start by transforming your party space into a lush and tropical jungle. You can use green streamers and balloons to create a jungle canopy, and you can hang paper vines and leaves from the ceiling to add some texture.
Next, add some jungle animal cutouts, like lions, tigers, and monkeys, to your walls and tables. You can even add some inflatable palm trees and animal print tablecloths to complete the look. And don't forget to add some jungle sound effects, like bird calls and animal noises, to really immerse your guests in the jungle atmosphere.
Encourage your guests to dress up in jungle-themed costumes to really get into the spirit of the party. You can suggest costumes like jungle explorers, safari guides, or even jungle animals like lions, tigers, and zebras. Make sure to let your guests know about the dress code in your invitations, so they have plenty of time to plan their costumes.
Food and Drink
When it comes to food and drink, there are plenty of jungle-inspired options to choose from. You can serve tropical drinks like piña coladas and mai tais, and you can offer snacks like fresh fruit skewers and trail mix. If you're looking for more ideas for jungle safari party food and drinks, here are some additional suggestions:
Jungle Juice
Create a refreshing and fruity punch using a combination of fruit juices like pineapple, orange, and mango. Add some sliced fruit and garnish with an umbrella for a tropical touch.
Grilled meats like chicken, beef, or pork are always a hit at parties. Marinate them in a spicy jerk seasoning or a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce to give them a jungle-inspired flavor.
Fruit Skewers
Cut up a variety of colorful fruits like pineapple, kiwi, and strawberries and put them on skewers for a healthy and delicious snack.
Jungle Salad
Mix together some leafy greens, like spinach or kale, with sliced mango, avocado, and cashews. Drizzle with a citrusy dressing for a refreshing and healthy side dish.
Coconut Shrimp
Coat jumbo shrimp in a crispy coconut batter and serve with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce for a tasty appetizer.
Snake Sandwiches
Cut small sandwich triangles into the shape of snakes and use cucumber slices for eyes. Fill with your favorite sandwich fillings for a fun and tasty snack.
Snakebite Cocktails
Mix together equal parts lager and hard cider for a refreshing and fruity drink that is sure to pack a punch. Garnish with a slice of lime or a twist of snake candy.
For the main course, consider serving a selection of exotic meats like kangaroo, alligator, or ostrich. And if you're looking for something a little more traditional, you can always serve burgers and hot dogs with jungle-inspired toppings like mango salsa or guacamole.
Remember to also consider any dietary restrictions your guests may have and offer vegetarian and vegan options as well. With these tasty food and drink options, your jungle safari party is sure to be a hit!
Games and Activities
No jungle safari party is complete without some wild and adventurous games and activities. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Jungle Treasure Hunt
Hide jungle-themed treasures around your party space and have your guests search for them. You can include items like plastic snakes, animal stickers, and jungle-themed candy.
Animal Charades
Have your guests act out their favorite jungle animals in a game of charades. This is a great way to get everyone involved and having fun.
Jungle Limbo
Set up a limbo pole and have your guests try to limbo under it while making animal sounds. This is a great game for both kids and adults.
Safari Photo Booth
Set up a photo booth with a jungle backdrop and props like animal masks and safari hats. Your guests can take fun and silly photos to remember the party.
Party Favors
Send your guests home with some fun and memorable party favors. You can create jungle-themed goody bags filled with items like animal crackers, jungle-themed candy, and small toys like plastic snakes and animals. And don't forget to include a personalized thank you note to let your guests know how much you appreciated them coming to your jungle safari party.
A jungle safari party is a unique and exciting theme that can be enjoyed by all ages. By incorporating jungle-inspired decorations, costumes, food, and activities, you can create an unforgettable adventure for your guests. From exotic meats and tropical drinks to animal charades and jungle treasure hunts, there are endless possibilities to bring the jungle to life at your party.
Not only is a jungle safari party a fun way to celebrate a special occasion, but it also provides an opportunity to learn about different animals and their habitats. You can even use the party as a way to educate your guests about conservation efforts and the importance of preserving our natural environment.

Jungle Safari Party Ideas – Wild Animals Party!
Jungle safari party by ms laine events.
This Jungle Safari Birthday Party by Ms Laine Events is awesome!
She has brought the Safari theme to life with jungle-inspired décor and styling. This party is ready to roar!
Chiefly using a color scheme of deep greens and gold, this Jungle Safari themed party is glamorous and eye-catching. The showstoppers are the giant stuffed animals and all of the gold-painted figurines.
This would be an amazing Birthday Party for Animal and Nature lovers of all ages as well as people who just have a bit of a wild side. Using gold in all of the different animal décor ideas really ties everything together without there being too much going on. I love the pops of green from plants layered behind the gold décor to make it stand out more.
The Details…
Party type: Birthday Party
Color Scheme: Go glam with greens, gold, and white
Favorite décor ideas:
- Firstly, the gold sprayed animal figurines which give instant glamour!
- Also, the few tasteful large stuffed animals which really stand out.
- Next, the balloon arch with gold leaf cut-outs to frame the area, add height and emphasize the color scheme.
- Natural materials like wood, jute, and plants.
- Large white backdrop with foliage and gold dots. A fun background paired with the arch but simple enough to let the other décor stand out.
- Finally, add lights in jars for a pretty glow.
Gorgeous food ideas:
- I love the cake pops with gold animals.
- Also, the cake decorated with herbs and animal figurines is stunning!
- Gold wrapped treats in jars as gifts.
- Cupcakes topped with gold glitter cutouts.
- Cookies in different shapes with animals and writing matching the color scheme.
Theme tips:
- First off, bring the gold through by using it on all of the animal details to tie everything together.
- Next, use greenery throughout and especially as a backdrop for the gold décor.
- Also, try to carry the color scheme through from the food into the décor.
- Lastly, use a balloon arch with leaves to extend the theme and give height.
To conclude, a big thank you to Ms. Laine Events for this beautifully wild Safari Birthday Party, it’s fun and beautiful!

Safari Decor Ideas
When it comes to putting together a jungle-themed party, an animal print will always reign supreme. Colors for decorations should be bright and joyful, such as orange, purple, magenta, green, royal blue, and red. If you wish to use flowers in your party decoration, wildflowers such as hibiscus blossoms, sunflowers, and orchids should be the priority. Animal-themed cutlery, such as party bear-printed napkins, party giraffe-printed cups, and party tiger-printed tablecloths, can be used to give the entire décor a jungle feel.
Get Wild Costumes
You should ask your invited friends to dress up in their most exotic jungle-themed outfits for the party. It will be a lot of fun. It will be even more enjoyable if you greet your guests with safari party animal-printed and shaped hats.
Linen pants, khakis, and a bush jacket can be worn to the party. Anything that goes with the safari theme will work. With visitors dressed in vivid safari exotic clothes, the celebration will be more exciting.
Safari Party Food
Foods for a jungle-themed party should also be decorated differently with the overall theme. Cupcakes with mint green frosting are ideal for any such celebration. Safari Cupcakes decorated in the shape of a pink lioness or blue elephants will go well with the theme. Treats for the occasion may include pretzels with jungle log labels and peanuts as animal snacks. Safari Monkey goodies can be served with a bowl of fresh bananas and gummy snakes on the sides of the bowel.
Make your event flavorful and Delicious
You should also set up an area with a variety of flavored, colorful soft drinks. You can provide safari jungle juice or cocktails as drinks at adult events, such as lime juice, rum, and pineapple slices. However, alcohol-free soft drinks and lemonades should be served to children.
You can also customize your food and give each of them a Jungle name:
- Safari Jungle Juice – Any fruit punch colored red or green
- Snake Eggs – Cooked and cooled hard-boiled eggs.
- Lion Burgers – Huge hamburgers
- Safari Cub Sandwiches – Mini club sandwiches with the kid’s favorite fillings
- Snake Straws – Homemade cheesy straws twisted into wiggly shapes
- Animal Safari Cup Cakes – Make Cupcakes and decorate them with icing or edible animal decorations
- Animal Safari Cookies – Use animal cookie cutters to make biscuits and decorate them with colored icing.
- Safari Parrot Lollies – Make multi-colored Ice Pops using different colored fruit juices. Great for cooling down those jungle explorers

Have a helper hide stuffed jungle animals or little plastic animal figurines in the party area. On “Go”, the children must find the number that you specify (such as find 1, find 3, etc.) and bring them to you.
Bean Bag Toss
“Feed” bean bags to a tiger or other safari animal drawn on posterboard with a hole for their mouth.
Tiger, Tiger, Lion
Played like Duck, and Duck Goose, but use the words Tiger, Tiger, Lion instead!
Zoo Animal Tug of War
Have a game of tug of war, with kids pretending to be different animals.
Animal Charades
Select one child to be “It” and stand up in front of the group. Tell “It” to think of an animal, and then act out what the animal does. The kids try to guess what animal it is. For young children, provide them with an idea of the animal.
