King Krule Announces 2023 Tour
By Madison Bloom
King Krule has announced a string of tour dates that will follow the release of his next album, Space Heavy , which arrives June 9 via Matador . Archy Marshall and his band will get started in Minneapolis on Friday, July 21, stopping over at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago the following day. Then, King Krule will wind through Detroit, Montreal, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Nashville, Denver, Seattle, and more, before playing his final U.S. gig in Los Angeles on September 25. King Krule will also play venues in the United Kingdom and Europe in October and November. Find the full itinerary below.
Space Heavy is King Krule’s follow-up to 2020’s Man Alive! Marshall wrote the album during periods in London and Liverpool between 2020 to 2022. He was largely inspired by the notion of “the space between” while conceptualizing his new batch of songs, which he recorded with producer Dilip Harris, saxophonist Ignacio Salvadores, drummer George Bass, bassist James Wilson, and guitarist Jack Towell.
Upon announcing Space Heavy last month, Marshall shared lead single “Seaforth,” along with with a music video directed by Jocelyn Anquetil . A couple of happy dogs co-starred with the musician in the clip.

With his reverb drenched guitar parts and deceivingly world-weary vocals, King Krule (otherwise known as Archy Marshall) chooses not to overcrowd his songs with unnecessary layers of sound, preferring instead to place more onus on his incredibly individual and surprisingly deep and crunchy voice. Infusing his youthful indie angst with an impressive lyrical palette, and being influenced somewhat by his interest in Hip Hop (have a listen to some of his Edgar The Beatmaker material and his collaborations with the likes of RATKING), he has succeeded in sculpting a very individual sound for himself. His live performances are not to be missed, if only to show you that he is far younger than his morose tone may suggest. His awkwardness on stage only adds to the tortured-poet image that he has cultivated, and he does not fail to exhibit his mellow-jangle guitar skills when singing songs such as ‘Ocean Bed’ and ‘The Krockadile’, both definite personal favourites. An emotionally simmering songwriter, he is also a skilful performer whose shows are well worth catching: This London based talent is not to be missed!

One of the best experiences. Not only as a sound matter but as a live performance matter. It was incredible how not only the whole team could reproduce the album sound but how every tune had an intense emotion of truth. Real emotions for real music, real music for real emotions.
Thank you, King Krule team!<3
King Krule was amazing, he sounds almost equally as good in person! The Black Cat was also the perfect venue for his show. The show was sold out and the opener, Show Me The Body was a little more hardcore than Krule, but I liked it. Killer show overall, 10/10!!
I seen King Krule in Glasgow earlier in the year after following his music for the last 2 or 3 years. I was there with my son and daughter. Totally amazing voice and guitar. Looking forward to the next gig I can get to, Paul, Derry

King Krule is a really good live performer. He really embodies the songs he sings and his emotions run really heavy during his shows. The Warsaw was a great venue to see him in as it was intimate and sentimental, much like he is.
Probably the best gig I’ve been to. He was ridiculously good. If I had to say one negative was that the crowd was a bit pushy but can’t really blame them as the vibe was off the Richter. Much love for the Zoo Kid

King Krule debuts “Space Heavy” tour in ATL
Liz French on September 15, 2023 in Entertainment
Archy Marshall, better known as his stage name King Krule, had his debut performance in Atlanta on Sept. 8. He began his tour in July for his latest album, “Space Heavy,” released on June 9 of this year.
The set was simple; only a few large pieces of fabric, depicting artwork from his most recent album cover, draped the back wall. As the show went on, bright, contrasting lights made the backdrop appear two dimensional, almost cartoon-like. Marshall himself resembled a graphic novel character, with hot pinks and deep blues taking the place of highlights and shadows.
Marshall played a variety of songs from his previous projects, including “The OOZ,” “6 Feet Beneath The Moon” and “Man Alive!”
He opened with a few tracks from “Man Alive!” — most notably “Cellular,” the opening track of the album. The eerie vocals and lingering bass contrasted the first song he played from the new album, “Pink Shell,” which culminates with Marshall’s raspier vocals singing, “I am waiting for someone / I have not seen them anywhere.”
“Dum Surfer,” a popular track from his 2017 project, “The OOZ,” included deep background vocals, contrasted by jazzy instrumentals, from the live band.
Marshall then played a few tracks from “Space Heavy.” As he started out with a few slower, softer songs, “Flimsier” and “Seagirl,” Marshall’s calm voice was refreshing to hear. The latter song originally includes a feature from Raveena, but she was not present for the performance; the saxophone replaced her mystical vocals, adding a different flair to the live rendition.
The most upbeat song Marshall played was an older track called “A Lizard State.” This title is filled with the saxophone riffs and jazzy undertones that define the album. He compares himself to a cold-blooded reptile, longing for the warmth of someone. Within “A Lizard State,” Marshall sang the lyric, “It’s not fair, baby blue.” This line is a callback to “Baby Blue,” a sweeter love song.
He continued playing new releases, including “Empty Stomach Space Cadet,” a metaphor for letting go of his younger self who was consumed by depression and loneliness (much of what can be heard on “The OOZ”). The song also features audio clips of a young girl, presumed to be his daughter, singing.
The performance would not be complete without Marshall playing the remaining tracks of the album: “Our Vacuum,” “Seaforth,” “From The Swamp” and “If Only It Was Warmth.”
To conclude his “Man Alive!” songs, Marshall played the infamous “Stoned Again,” a song that does not require much interpretation. Paired with his yelling vocals and intense strobe lights, the performance was truly an immersive experience.
Two of his most well known songs, “Easy Easy” and “Baby Blue” were saved for last. The entire crowd sang along with Marshall, playing deeply into the nostalgia of their teenage years.
Of course, the encore song was none other than “Out Getting Ribs,” the song that blew up from the release of Marshall’s 2013 album, “6 Feet Beneath the Moon.” The opening of the song was played with a sitar — the first time the instrument had been out on stage. This contrasted greatly from the recorded version, which mostly featured electric guitar with reverb.
Marshall and his band delivered an unexpectedly breathtaking performance; the saxophone player being a highlight of the show. If King Krule makes his way back to Atlanta, getting a ticket is a must as it will surely be an unforgettable performance.

King Krule Announces 2023 North American Tour Dates
Ahead of the release of his new album space heavy , king krule has unveiled upcoming tour dates in north america and europe..
King Krule is taking his new album Space Heavy on the road. The English musician has announced North American and European tour dates for the fall, including stops at Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival, Detroit, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Nashville, Seattle, and more. In October and November, the artist, legal name Archy Ivan Marshall, will wrap up his tour in Europe.
The follow-up to the 2020 album Man Alive! , Space Heavy was recorded with Marshall’s producer Dilip Harris, saxophonist Ignacio Salvadores, drummer George Bass, bassist James Wilson, and guitarist Jack Towell. Largely written from 2020 to 2022 between travels to Liverpool and London, Marshall states that the 15-track LP was inspired by “the space haunted by dreams of love, touching a narrative of lost connection, [and] losing people and situations to the guillotine of the universe.”
Announcing “Space Heavy” in April, Marshall also released the lead single “Seaforth” with an accompanying music video directed by Jocelyn Anquetil. Space Heavy releases on June 9 via Matador Records and XL Recordings.
