  • Gina P. April 22, 2021, 8:27 pm Place is an absolute joke. The whole program is about working with difficult children and helping them yet they have no clue how to do that. They give up and send the kid home. So do not let your kids school district talk you into sending your child here. Complete waste of time! 0 0 Reply
  • uwov August 15, 2019, 3:31 am Worst treatment ever. They call the police after someone shoves another instead of doing their job and trying to help the problem and stopping it from happening again. Gave up on my 8 year old in a week. Nothing positive has ever been done and guarantee you nothing will help a child here. 0 0 Reply

Northwest Journey

Northwest Journey offers comprehensive, community-based treatment, preventative services, and therapeutic support for children, adolescents, and families in transition. Our goal is to promote stability, growth, and success for all.

Northwest Directions

Northwest Directions is a school-based outreach program that works with the child, family, therapist and community resources to make positive, impactful and sustainable mental health gains.

Northwest Connections

Northwest Connections is a 24/7 Emergency Crisis Line throughout several counties in Wisconsin. If you or someone you know is in crisis please call 888-552-6642 to reach the crisis line.

Northwest Community Partners

Northwest Community Partners collaborates with county human services departments to provide daily living skills, mentoring and respite services.

Northwest Transportation

Reach out today.

Our team of mental health professionals are dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to help strengthen families and communities.

Northwest Journey accepts school aged children.

Our groups typically involve 8 to 11 clients who meet for 60 minute sessions up to 5 hours per day. Groups focus on learning relationship skills, social skill building, life skills, errors in thinking, anger management, healthy living, coping skills, self-esteem, stress management techniques, and recreational therapy.

It is imperative for a client to begin mental health treatment as soon as the need is identified. This will allow the client to work through the issues they are struggling with while learning the coping techniques to manage themselves in the educational environment.

Most Northwest Journey Sites provide one hour per day of structured education time. Many of the mental health groups can be transferred into elective credits if the school chooses to do so.

Northwest Journey arranges and provides transportation to and from the program.

The need for medication is determined by the client’s psychiatrist

Clients are typically enrolled at Northwest Journey for 3-9 months.

The client’s multidisciplinary team works together with the clients to determine an appropriate time for the client to be discharged after the client has made progress on his/her/their treatment goals. Northwest Journey provides transitional services along with recommendations that are appropriate for the client post discharge.

The transition into the school environment can be challenging/daunting for many of the clients that we serve. Northwest Journey works closely with the clients’ school to ensure a smooth transition back into the learning environment at a pace the client is comfortable with.

Northwest Journey does not provide lunch, however lunch is available for those who may have forgotten, or are in need of a lunch. Most Northwest Journey sites provide a healthy snack and/or breakfast.

A child may be the right fit for our program if the following are true:

  • Counseling and therapeutic intervention is necessary beyond weekly outpatient visits.
  • A child or adolescent’s behaviors and/or emotions lead to situations not sufficiently managed at home, in school or in the community.
  • Current or previous treatment is not meeting the needs of the child, adolescent, or family.
  • Discharge from an inpatient hospital, residential, or group home setting is imminent, and intensive treatment is needed to maintain treatment gains, or to further treatment outcomes.
  • A child or adolescent’s mental health issues (depression, anxiety, behaviors, etc.) are impeding success.

Our goal is to make this process as easy as possible for clients and their families. We are willing to come to you to meet in person and help walk you through the process. It is helpful for the process if you have the following on items on hand:

  • Your insurance card
  • Well-Child exam paperwork
  • Guardianship Paperwork ( for children in out of home placements )

We accept all forms of insurance including medical assistance. We are here to help you through the insurance process. Each client will receive a benefit check before enrolment is completed. Schools and families will never be charged without their signed consent, prior to the beginning of programing
