Omar’s stage presence was great. Oscar, Manny, and Joey are incredibly talented. By far one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Overall it was an amazing concert. I have no complaints.
Best vibe to a concert I've ever been to. Got to see both Aeris and Omar but the hype built for both was perfect. Don't think I've ever danced non-stop and known the lyrics to all the songs

Omar Apollo Releases New EP 'Live for Me'
Alongside the release, Omar shares an official music video for the EP's title track directed by Bandiz and David Heofs.
Omar Apollo releases his new EP Live For Me, via Warner Records. The EP marks his first project since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album IVORY, his Best New Artist nomination at the 2023 Grammy’s, and his sold-out world tour. Alongside the release, Omar shares an official music video for the EP's title track directed by Bandiz and David Heofs.
Omar delves into what Live For Me means to him explaining:
“These four songs are a reflection of the realities I've had to face in the last few years. Coming to terms with the person I was becoming and letting go of the old to be able to feel like myself and whatever purity I had left. Addressing parts of me I've compartmentalized, leaving myself feeling a bit exposed. I know it’s only four songs but they hold a lot of the weight I've been carrying throughout my life. I feel lighter now and ready for the next phase of whatever life has to offer.”
The EP was announced at the end of August with his previously released single, "Ice Slippin" which Omar explained, “..is about reliving the thoughts I had passing through my mind the winter I came out to my family. Receiving cold judgment as opposed to the acceptance I felt I deserved. This song is a reflection and reaction of all the emotions I had to face before and after I decided to leave the icy streets of Indiana.”
The track was co-produced by Omar and Teo Halm (ROSALÍA, Beyoncé, Lil Yachty), and was promoted with the appearance of three ice sculptures in London, Los Angeles, and New York.
An official Instagram post unveiled the artwork for the upcoming EP, which features a portrait of Omar created by Doron Langberg, a renowned figurative painter known for his exploration of contemporary themes related to queer sensuality and sexuality.
Omar is gearing up for his inaugural headlining performance at Madison Square Garden, where he will share the stage as a co-headliner with Daniel Caesar. This significant gig comes on the heels of his recent performance in direct support of SZA at the same venue. After a sold-out show at London's Roundhouse, Omar has another sold-out concert scheduled in Philadelphia just days before his highly anticipated New York show.
Last year, Omar Apollo released his debut album IVORY which was widely celebrated for its ability to blur genre lines and language barriers. This translated to a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and earned the 26-year-old artist commercial success, including a 7-week run on the Billboard Hot 100 for his first RIAA-certified platinum record, "Evergreen (You Didn't Deserve Me At All)."
Omar also enjoyed critical acclaim landing on year-end lists from esteemed media outlets such as NPR, The FADER, Billboard, Complex, Esquire, and Rolling Stone amongst others. Performances on NPR's Tiny Desk and Jimmy Kimmel Live! followed his debut album while he had previously unveiled the single "Killing Me" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Additionally, Omar has been named the first ambassador for skincare brand Youth to the People as well as the new face of Loewe's menswear campaign under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson. Omar also recently performed at the Hispanic Heritage Awards on September 7th.

NEW YORK (AP) — In just four songs on his latest EP, “Live For Me,” Omar Apollo processes death, grief, acceptance and the lack of it — big, traumatic emotions — through intimate, lush sounds.
The EP, out Friday, follows Apollo’s 2022 debut album “Ivory” and a 2023 Grammy nomination for best new artist. It’s also his first project since touring with SZA, and since his song “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me At All)” went viral on social media, bringing swaths of new listeners to his music.
The singer-songwriter recently debuted the EP’s lead single at a show in London and went underground to preview the title track with TikTok’s latest sensation, “Tube Girl” Sabrina Bahsoon. Later this month, he’ll share New York’s Madison Square Garden stage with Daniel Caesar and Montell Fish at Caesar’s “Superpowers World Tour.”
So, things are busy. But Apollo, 26, says all of it has felt productive, and inspiring.
“I just feel like I’m doing and living. I feel alive now and … I think that’s important,” he said.
Apollo spoke with The Associated Press via Zoom about the release, not conforming to any one genre and his favorite song as of late. One thing he didn’t want to talk about just yet: The portrait by artist Doron Langberg on the EP’s front cover (and the NSFW extension of that painting on the back). More on that later, he said.
This interview has been edited for clarity and brevity.
AP: You said in a statement that ‘Ice Slippin,’ the first song released from the EP, is about the feelings you had after coming out to your family. Why did now feel like the right time for you to put out this song?
APOLLO: A lot of the songs I write are emotions that I dealt with or am dealing with at that time. I think it was something that I wanted to go back to, travel back in time to. A lot has changed since then. ... That song was about me being in a car, driving during the winter and getting off the highway … and I was just sliding. It was such an emotional part of my life, and it also surfaced physically. So it was strange to see what I was dealing with and I feel how it was manifesting in my life physically. Everything kind of felt like this crash, you know?
AP: It feels like that song establishes the emotional landscape of ‘Live For Me.’ Of the four songs, why did you want “Ice Slippin” to be released first?
APOLLO: It was really important for this song to come out first, actually. A lot of people that I work with were like, ‘Why this one first?’ … But for me it was more about, this was a transition I wanted to make as an artist, to not feel bound by structure or other people’s ideas of me — more just like my decisions that I would make if I was still in Indiana living in the attic. I would upload that song first.
AP: And why these songs together on an EP, and not a longer project?
APOLLO: A longer project would definitely need more time. I’ve been on the road — I was on tour with SZA, I did two, three headline tours, so I haven’t really had time. These songs were made in between these things. Now I have time, so I’m working. But these songs have been done for a while and … I wanted to do something this year. I wanted to do something that wasn’t passive, that had intention. … It’s short, but it has a lot of my introspective world.
AP: The sound of these tracks feels a bit different than some of what you’ve done recently — do you think it is? Or does it feel like a natural evolution?
APOLLO: I think it’s better. I think it’s an evolution. I think everything is intentional on this. And yeah, like I’ve been big on types of music since the beginning, you know. I’ve been rapping since I did the first EP. I know on ‘Evergreen’ I was singing and singing, so people might just know me as a singer. But I like to do all genres. I love music, I got into music because I love all parts of it — so no, it doesn’t feel like I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go try this.’ I just feel like I’m doing and living. I feel alive now and ... I think that’s important.
AP: What is your process when approaching a new song idea?
APOLLO: One song at a time. Always. I can come up with an intentional example, or an idea. But it’s usually just one song at a time. Like, I have this idea stimulating my brain, and I’m going to sit here for 16 hours and figure it out because it’s fun.
AP: Is there any music that you’ve been listening to a lot recently?
APOLLO: I’ve had ‘TESLA’ by Lil Yachty on for the past four days. It’s the only song I listen to. It’s so strange, it’s just the only song I want to listen to right now. I think because my music can be really heavy sometimes, I don’t want to think too much. Sometimes I just want, you know, some hard sh—. And I like the feeling of that song, like — that’s fantastic. I love this.
AP: How do you hope this project is received?
APOLLO: The only thing I can hope for is for (fans) to be inspired in whatever way they choose. I know these songs can be interpreted in all different ways. … When I go to the shows and I see their faces and they’re crying, singing every word, that gives me energy. I’m up there trying my hardest, sweating, you know, out of breath, just trying to put on a good show. So that’s everything to me. I would just hope for people listening to learn something about themselves or be inspired.

Omar Apollo Says He’s Finishing His ‘Best Album Yet’
- By Tomás Mier
Omar Apollo is looking at himself through Zoom as he tries on the beige Sherpa jacket he just bought. “You fuck with it?” he asks.
It’s hard not to fuck with everything the Mexican American alt-R&B star does. Apollo dropped his debut album, Ivory , in April 2022, then blew up with the ultra-sentimental song “Evergreen,” and followed that success by touring with SZA last year. Recently, he’s been dipping into fashion. (A massive billboard of him dripped in the luxury designer Loewe looms over Sunset Boulevard in L.A.)
Apollo is back in L.A. these days, putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album, out in the summer. He dropped his album’s first single “Spite” last Friday, and he’s experimenting with jazz, house, and other genres.
He tells me it’s the best music he’s ever made. And, nah, he’s not just saying that.
Good. I just got back from visiting family in Durango, Mexico. Duranguense ! I know the dance. You’re supposed to act like you got a penny stuck in between your cheeks or something.
Your knees. Oh, your knees? I remember my mom would teach me how to do that. I was in baile folklórico when I was younger. It was zapateado and dances like that. The girls had the little clicks in their hands and the big dresses. The guys would have sombreros and mariachi-looking pants.
How are you feeling about this new album? I read that you are angrier on it. Angrier, definitely, on the single “Spite.” Now it’s back to my old longing-for-love vibe, but it’s reimagined. I got in with Teo Halm. He’s been my friend since I was 17 years old. We met when I worked at Guitar Center.
Editor’s picks
The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.
In one of the tracks, you sing about grief. I’ve heard before that grief is the highest, most intense form of love. It’s such a complex feeling because you could feel grief for someone who’s passed away or grief for someone you have heartbreak over. That song, in particular, is one of my favorites on the album. I took my time and was trying to give an imagery and a feeling, and a temperature and a light. Even the writing is kind of psychedelic.
There’s one house-infused song that feels like it came from left field. I was trying to paint an image. I want to be able to set a scene the way that a film would. I wanted something people could just be at the club with, because when you think of my music, you don’t think about the club. So I’m like, “Fuck, I need some club shit.” But it was just how I was feeling at the time, in London especially. I was going to so many parties.
SZA, Melanie Martinez, the Killers Tapped for New Pittsburgh Music Fest
Omar apollo craves proximity and adoration on new single 'spite', sza will release 'leaks and outtakes' from 'sos' as deluxe lp to focus on next project.
I remember I had a conversation that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I thought, “It doesn’t matter what your idea and image of me is. What matters is if I can wake up and I can be excited to go and perform the songs and be excited to put them out.” If I feel strongly about it and I feel like I exhausted every avenue to get to where we’re at, and I feel proud, then I think that that’s what’s important. Those outside opinions can fuck with you a lot, and you just have to take it with a grain of salt.
What sort of opinions do you ask for? I’ll ask very specific things. I’d be like, “I’m going to play you 20 songs, pick your favorite.” That’s it. I don’t want to know why it’s your favorite. Just tell me which one. I think when you’re in the creative process, it’s so delicate that anything could damage your energy toward it. That’s why it’s not good to take in a lot of opinions. I actually have a friend who literally won’t play me anything, and he has been working on a whole album and he won’t show me any of it. He’s on my album too.
You have your Disha Hot sauce going to Taco Bell. My mom made the hot sauce recipe. I wanted to do a relaunch of my hot sauce, but I had to make Ivory. I was like, “Fuck, I have to put this aside for now and focus on the music.” The hot sauce packets will be in every Taco Bell in America. It feels good because she crossed the border from Mexico and opened up a restaurant. When I was born, it became too much, so she had to shut it down. This was the hot sauce she used in the restaurant, so it’s me being like, “Since I made you get the restaurant shut down by being born, this is how I’m paying you back.”
What kind of food would your mom make? She would make tortas ahogadas, chiles rellenos, aguachile. She made a lot of shit. She was so good at it, I’m not going to lie. That just made my mouth water.

When I played the Shrine, which was like 5,000 people, “Evergreen” hadn’t blown up yet, so I was like, “Damn, I feel successful.” After that show, I remember feeling like, “I want to triple this.” And then the SZA tour happened, and I was like, “Fuck.” I had to focus because that was an entire crowd of people who just didn’t know me. It was scary. After the arena tour, that’s when I figured out how I wanted to make music. I was like, “Oh, I want to make music for arenas.”

Since scoring a pair of left-field slow jam hits in duets with H.E.R. (“Best Part”) and Kali Uchis (“Get You”) six years ago, Daniel Caesar has sidestepped the quest for the male R&B throne and has instead opted to focus on further developing his dedicated community of fans — one that has grown to the size of a sold-out Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night (Oct. 17).
The Grammy winner has come a long way since those controversial comments on race relations and the subsequent backlash, but a sobering, apologetic self-reflection and a string of major career moves kept the Caesar train chugging. In the time since “Best Part” emerged as Freudian’s breakout hit, Caesar found Billboard Hot 100 success as a songwriter for fellow Canadians Justin Bieber (“Peaches,” No. 1 — also with Caesar as a featured artist) and Shawn Mendes (“Monster,” No. 8), launched another acclaimed Grammy-nominated studio effort in Case Study 01 , and released collaborations with Common, Brandy, FKA twigs and Omar Apollo.
On Tuesday night, the acclaimed singer-songwriter took over one of the world’s most iconic venues to perform the biggest show of his career thus far. His Superpowers World Tour — a global trek in support of his major label debut album, Never Enough , a stunningly introspective slice of R&B that peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 — is a terrific showcase of musical dexterity.
On the latest stop of his Superpowers Tour, Caesar tore through his lush discography, showcasing impressive vocal endurance and an intriguing yet entrancing approach to staging. Before he hit the stage, however, Grammy-nominated pop&B lothario Omar Apollo sparkled with an energetic set that dripped with sensuality and playfulness. Evoking Michael Jackson one second and Mick Jagger the next, Apollo swaggered through renditions of hits like “Evergreen,” “Tamagotchi” and “3 Boys.” Between a heartfelt tribute to Mexico (“En El Olvido”) and a hilarious streak of frankness — after he flubbed a riff, he quipped, “Oop, my fault!” before seamlessly executing an even harder falsetto riff — Apollo seemed incredibly comfortable in front of the packed arena.
Caesar began his set enclosed in translucent drapery, with a guest appearance from Mustafa the Poet — the pair performed their “Toronto 2014” collaboration — adding to the enigmatic tone of the night. Once he hit “Cyanide,” the drapes fell, revealing a close-up of a humbled Caesar, ready and excited to delight the crowd with a slew of songs off Never Enough , as well as some fan-favorites (“Entropy”) and a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.” Not one for much banter, Caesar instead channeled his appreciation into a series of moving vocal performances that cast his greatest love songs in the context of the love story between him and his fans.
Here are the five best moments of Daniel Caesar’s Superpowers World Tour at Madison Square Garden:
Caesar in the Shadows
From a cube comprised of flowing, white semi-transparent sheets to a stunning light show for the climax of “Please Do Not Lean,” this show’s production was an absolute highlight. By playing with shadows, the production design explored the push and pull of mystique and celebrity as it relates to Caesar’s public persona. All of this paired with his haunting-yet-alluring vocal tone made for an immersive experience.
"Shot My Baby" Gets Theatrical
Daniel Caesar may not be the first artist to come to mind when presented with the word “theatrical,” but he certainly flaunted those dramatic abilities on Tuesday night. Caesar spent much of his rendition of “Shot My Baby” sprawled out on the floor as if he himself were shot. When his guitarist started shredding near the end of the song, it was as if Caesar’s still body was soaking up all the energy from every seat in the sold-out arena.
Encore (feat. Omar Apollo)
For the encore, Caesar brought the packed arena into a cozy backstage lounge. There, he sat with Omar Apollo as the two listened to the roars of the crowd. At one point, the pair looked liked they would close the night with a duet, but after Apollo briefly mumbled something about not rehearsing, Caesar good-naturedly launched into a solo, acoustic performance of “Streetcar” — a smart and nostalgic choice for an encore that drew one of the night’s most fervent crowd responses.
A "Creep" Enraptures The Garden
Stripping the stage to just him and his acoustic guitar, Caesar tackled Radiohead’s “Creep” with what was probably the night’s peak in terms of vulnerability. The unplugged vibe presented an immediate juxtaposition to the mysterious production design utilized at the top of the show, thus fostering a sense of intimacy that conveyed the gratefulness and awe his spirit radiated throughout the night.
H.E.R. Makes Surprise Appearance
Needing no introduction, Grammy and Oscar winner H.E.R. floated onto the stage to assist Caesar in an exquisite rendition of their hit collab “Best Part.” Considering that this was Caesar’s first performance at the Garden, it was only right that he bring out the duet partner that helped craft the song that made his career explode. With Caesar on acoustic guitar and just the two of them on stage, the two R&B crooners riffed their way through the song, perfectly embodying the depth and warmth that made the studio track such an enduring hit.
