Pepperdine University (PU) Transfers: 2024 Requirements, Dates, GPAs & More

How effective are pepperdine university (pu) virtual tours.

It depends how you use them. Pepperdine University (PU) is a hustling, bustling campus and community. The beauty of Pepperdine University (PU) virtual tours on CampusReel is that authentic video tours, made by real students, can be spectacular at capturing the Pepperdine University (PU) vibe. We also go well beyond the confines of the Pepperdine University (PU) campus by taking you around Malibu. In traditional virtual tours, you will mostly see still, unengaging images and will not see the surrounding area at all – which is why CampusReel virtual tours are so important.

Can a Pepperdine University (PU) virtual tour replace a traditional in-person visit?

If you cannot visit Pepperdine University (PU) in person, then we can honestly say that we believe a CampusReel virtual tour of Pepperdine University (PU) is absolutely the most effective and holistic way to understand the Pepperdine University (PU) people, campus and community. However, if you do plan on visiting Pepperdine University (PU) and other colleges in person, we strongly recommend that you at least prescreen your college options on CampusReel before spending the time and money to visit. Most prospective families find that as soon as the step on campus, they instantly know whether or not they like the school – but they’ve already spent all that time and money getting there! Our goal is to eliminate all the time and money visiting Pepperdine University (PU) in person until you can make a strong educated guess that it’s worth the investment.

What places can I virtually tour at Pepperdine University (PU)?

For your convenience, below is a list of Pepperdine University (PU) places you can virtually tour on CampusReel.

  • The Waves Café at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • George Elkins Auditorium at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Sandbar Student Lounge at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Payson Library at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Keck Science Center at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Stauffer Chapel at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • 25255 Pacific Coast Hwy at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Charles B. Thornton Administrative Center at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Joslyn Plaza at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Howard A. White Center (HAWC) at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Pepperdine University at Pepperdine University (PU)
  • Viale Giovanni Milton, 51 at Pepperdine University (PU)

What are the downsides of a Pepperdine University (PU) virtual tour?

The downside of virtually touring Pepperdine University (PU) on CampusReel is that, admittedly, our technology does not yet mimic the exact feeling and experience of visiting Pepperdine University (PU) in person. We are working on this though! A common request we also receive from users is to add more perspectives (e.g. student guides) to the platform. Rest assured we are working on adding more CampusReel guides to the Pepperdine University (PU) virtual tour. However, our selection of guides still far outweighs the available perspectives of traditional virtual tour platforms.

What are the benefits of a Pepperdine University (PU) virtual tour?

The most obvious benefit of a Pepperdine University (PU) virtual tour on CampusReel is that is can be accessed from anywhere. This can save families a lot of time and money compared to visiting Pepperdine University (PU) in person . Another often overlooked benefit of a CampusReel virtual tour is that it goes far beyond a traditional in person tour Pepperdine University (PU) . Campus visits are limited both in time and scope – how are you expected to truly understand a college in a 1 hour tour? That’s why we stress the added benefit of CampusReel virtual tours – experience Pepperdine University (PU) and Malibu during different seasons, days of the week, and even hours of the day. What’s game day like? What is finals week life? Again, traditional virtual touring platforms don’t include this benefit.

Tour Script

Welcome to Pepperdine! We are so excited to be able to share campus with you today during your driving tour. We are honored that you have chosen to visit us here in beautiful Malibu, which was once home to the Chumash aboriginal people. And to any newly admitted students joining us - congratulations! We hope that you enjoy getting a glimpse of your potential future home. Please be sure to keep driving at all times while on our tour route today to help with the flow of traffic.

As we begin up Seaver Drive, you'll notice our main campus area to your left, which is home to the main academic facilities on campus. Seaver College has 44 majors and 41 minors across 8 academic divisions. Our student to faculty ratio is 13:1, and our average class size is just 19 students. Our classes foster a uniquely supportive environment that allows students to develop personal relationships with their professors. 96% of our faculty hold the highest degree in their field, and our classes are never taught by teaching assistants or graduate students. Additionally, about 35% of our faculty actually live on campus, which allows students the opportunity to share a meal or attend a Bible study in the homes of their professors! We encourage you to learn more about your intended major online, and feel free to reach out directly to your academic division with any questions!

Next, you will see some of our housing options. First-year students are required to live on campus for their first 2 years, and transfer students are required to live on campus for their first year. Our first-year and transfer residence halls offer suite-style living, with about 50 students living in each hall. Each suite houses 8 students with a shared living area, shared bathroom, and 4 bedrooms with 2 people per room. 3 student leaders also live with the residents in each hall. 2 Resident Advisors, or "RAs", program events geared toward personal and community development, uphold community standards, and serve as peer counselors. The Spiritual Life Advisor, or "SLA"'s, primary role is to foster and provide opportunity for a healthy spiritual environment for residents. Pepperdine is a dry campus, which means drugs and alcohol are prohibited at all times. We also have visitation hours for members of the opposite gender in the residence halls. The on-campus housing experience is one of the most important ways we build community here at Pepperdine.

And speaking of community, our small undergraduate population of 3,400 students fosters a palpable sense of community here on campus. Pepperdine has over 100 student clubs and organizations that range from major-specific clubs, to nationally acclaimed organizations, to clubs dedicated to promoting cultural awareness and inclusion. We also have a Student Government Association and a Student Programming Board who are dedicated to serving the needs of students and planning events. Even in the virtual setting of the past year, our student groups have continued to be involved online and find creative ways to share in community together.

Faith is another important aspect of the Pepperdine community. Pepperdine is a Christian university affiliated with the Church of Christ, but is independent of direct church support or control. Pepperdine is proud of its Christian heritage and stresses a value-centered education combining excellent academics with a tradition of Christian values and ethics. You do not need to be a Christian to attend Pepperdine, and we welcome students from all faith backgrounds. Pepperdine students are required to take three religion classes as a part of the general education curriculum. Students also participate in our Convocation series each semester. These convocation events include weekly student body-wide chapels, small group discussion programs, various lecture speakers, and even Surf Convo at Zuma Beach.

You may have heard that Pepperdine is known for its study abroad programs! The Office of International Programs facilitates study abroad opportunities for an academic year, semester, or summer term. Our study abroad programs are a hallmark of the Seaver College experience due to our unique model and high participation rates. Pepperdine has consistently ranked in the top 5 in the nation for undergraduate study abroad participation! We have 6 global campuses in which students live in a Pepperdine owned house and take classes with other Pepperdine students exclusively. Our global campuses include Buenos Aires, Heidelberg, London, Lausanne, Florence, and Washington DC. We also offer summer programs and internships in a variety of other locations around the world.

And while our students love experiencing life abroad, they also enjoy taking advantage of all that our Malibu campus has to offer! Our beautiful location provides us not only with year-round recreational and outdoor activities but also with access to major metropolitan resources in Los Angeles and Santa Monica. Students take advantage of our proximity to these locations, often landing internships at internationally-known companies, or simply enjoying the entertainment, dining, arts, and shopping that the city has to offer. We take pride in preparing our students for life after graduation, with 94% of Pepperdine students participating in professional development opportunities such as internships, on or off-campus employment, student teaching, or undergraduate research. As our mission statement says, we prepare students for lives of purpose, service, and leadership here at Pepperdine.

This concludes your driving tour. Thank you for coming to campus today! We sincerely hope you have enjoyed your time learning more about Pepperdine and exploring campus. If you haven't already done so, be sure to check out our virtual tour via YouVisit, which provides an in-depth look into many of the buildings on campus, including the residence halls! Please reach out to the Office of Admission if you have any questions about the admission process. We hope to see you again soon and safe travels!
