Wish I did more research before booking this place. Staying here for 3 nights so we can see our family who's in Chico and Orland--just a place to sleep! So my sister and I shared a single queen room. *Heads up: you're still going to have to put down a $100 DAMAGE DEPOSIT even if you've already paid* The bed is so uncomfortable, only one small pillow for each side of the queen mattress and 2 sheets to go on top (with 2 loose sheets that are *supposed* to be fitted sheets, the floor (tiles) feels like they haven't been cleaned in weeks/months, there's one light in the place that works, we only got one bath towel that can barely cover a 5'3" tall woman. Not to mention the several TRAINS that goes by only at 5AM for some reason, the planes that fly over around that time too, and the garbage truck that came around 6AM on Monday--which wouldn't be a huge deal but every room is on ground floor basically. Gonna use the money I saved on this place to spend on a chiropractor and a spa day. So I guess that's a win?

If i could give it 0 stars I would, I have to say that the Safari Inn was a total disappointment. The pictures on their website were a complete lie. The actual room was a dump. Instead of nice new walls and tiled floors, we were greeted with the dingiest, smelliest carpet and shoddy walls with holes in the ceiling and curtains. The comforter was covered in cigarette burns and stains, and it looked like it hadn't been washed in ages. But the real kicker was the bugs. Every day, we had to deal with cockroaches and other creepy crawlies crawling around the room. It was like we were living in a swamp. The Safari Inn is an apt name for this hotel, considering how much wildlife is in here. And to top it all off, the door was not soundproof at all. We could hear every little noise outside, and passersby could hear everything we were doing inside. It was like we had no privacy whatsoever. In short, if you're looking for a decent place to stay, stay far, far away from the Safari Inn. It was a complete disaster that no one should have to endure. Don't make the same mistake we did.

This really should be a negative 5 star but that is not an option. We got to our room a little after 10pm only to find dead bugs on the bed and in the corners of the room,other people's hair on the pillows and sheets and the room just has a weird stench to it. Definitely would not recommend staying here. Only reason we booked a stay is because we are not familiar with the area and the double tree was booked.

The people up at the front are awesome. They totally work with you ..not against you. They have been really good to my husband and I. They are one of the few places that aren't super pushy and greedy looking for any reason to break our pockets. The times that we were clearly struggling they were not heartless a******* like most of the other places we have been. I like how they are a little family ran motel. If you don't have $150 and up to waste on a room.. I have come to find that the safari is the best of the cheaper ones in Chico. It's not all trapped out and roach infested and fairly quiet for the most part

If there was a way to do a neg. number I would. The office staff don't speak or understand English. We checked in stating we need to stay 2 nights. We went to see family the day after we checked in came back and the keys wouldn't work. Went to the office and they said oh well you didn't pay for another night will need another payment at this rate we could've stayed at a brand new Motel six for a cheaper price we went and picked up food and came back to the room to heat it up in the microwave in the microwave caught fire the rooms are nasty nobody hardly speaks any English so to get anything done it's really hard definitely think twice in less you're absolutely desperate I would not use check into the Safari Inn

My, oh my where to start. I live in Chico (and had never even heard of this hotel let alone gone into a room). This place by all appearances is decent however... First of all, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT rent room 209. Its large (that's the ONLY benefit) and strangely shaped, doesn't have a kitchenette but instead a mini fridge placed at the foot of the bed. THE FOOT OF THE BED. What the?? Its like a 'catch all' for all of the junk that they couldn't fit in the other rooms. The bar is missing from the closet so forget hanging up any clothes, then in another cabinet we found a floor lamp broken and in pieces that had been shoved in there with the door closed (see pic). The bathroom curtain had mold growing on it (DISGUSTING) and the tissue holder inserted in the wall was literally HANGING OUT of the wall (again, see pic). There was only one shampoo pack and like 10 lotions. REALLY?? Who needs 10 lotion packs?? There is a frosted window in the bathroom with paper or plastic hanging/flying around on the outside of it which scared the sh*t out of me, did they not finish the construction outside and left the window wrapping attached?? It literally looked like a ghost floating by- NOT KIDDING. I had a minor cardiac when I witnessed the "flying" thing outside- it looked like 'apparition'. The remote control to the tv didn't work and the clock was 7 hours off. Did I set it to the proper time? HELL NO. I wasn't about to touch that thing. One of the windows was missing a curtain, yup, no window covering whatsoever. CLASSY. To top it off, dealing with the troll in the office was an absolute waste of time. We decided to go in to inform management about the missing bar in the closet and the broken lamp in the closet. He shook his head like, "Yeah, so what". Upon walking into the dated and BEYOND DISGUSTING smelling office- it literally barfed in my mouth standing in there for 2 seconds- imagine a concoction of dirty socks, dirty underwear, rotten food, dirty ass and mold. MY GOD, I'VE NEVER SMELLED ANYTHING SO VILE. I had to immediately walk out for fear of adding to the smell by puking on their carpet. I understand that some of the other rooms have bee updated are quite cute however room 209 is one of the most screwy rooms and not worth more then $10 a night. My friend who was visiting from out of town chose this hotel because its dog friendly yet when we went in office to complain about the room, the rude old stank claimed he didn't know there was a dog in the room and there would be a additional $20 charge per night. Luckily, my friend had his check in receipt and showed him HE WAS WRONG, the dog HAD been on the check in list and it WAS made aware at the moment of check in. PROOF- ON THE RECEIPT. Flippin stank nickel hustler- nice try, but no cigar for your clueless ass although, a cigar would improve the fetid odor in your check in area. Last warning: DO NOT RENT 209 and make sure to wear a hazmat mask when checking in.

ZERO STARS. Pretty sure I found a bed bug. Gross. I know it's a cheap place to stay, but that is gross!!! I asked what they do considering what I found. I even took pictures if it and showed them. The guys I told tried to tell me well you slept here, maybe of you would have showed me last night..... They lost my business.

Um, 2 words... Big mistake. Anyone leaving more than a star, either works there, was comped a free room, or was high. Chances are it's the latter. We had the party boys next to us. The walls are so thin, I could almost taste the weed they were smoking. The comforter had a cigarette burn hole. The bed was shaped like a hammock. I was afraid to sleep under the sheets and join the bed bug party. The walls were stained and the carpet looked bad too. Oh, to boot, a lady was murdered there last year.

Wife booked this place based on location and price. I wish I had paid more at the Best Western. Here's what went right and wrong Right: The gentleman at the desk was helpful and concerned with our concerns. They had free soap and shampoo. Wrong: TV reception both audio and video was almost unwatchable (ok we turned off the sound and lived with the degraded picture). Also, they needed to bring in an extension cord (interrupting my work) to get a nightstand light to work (which wasn't even plugged in to begin with). Also, the WiFi was intermittent, further slowing workflow. The following morning it never worked. Also, the toilet was in need of repairs including: missing pads on seat so it was uneven, the bolt was loose. Also, the coffee maker was no where near an outlet so couldn't be plugged in. Finally the bathroom window wasn't open-able, and looked like it had just been repaired sloppily. Shall we talk about the buzzing heater?

OROVILLE — After finding a man dying in the street on Lodgeview Drive, detectives are searching for the 54-year-old man they believe fired the gun.

Butte County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a shooting around 10:25 p.m. Sunday on the 500 block of Lodgeview Drive.

They found a man who was shot in the roadway and, along with medics, attempted to save his life, but the man died, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives say they found “evidence that gave them cause to believe Joseph Perkins” of Oroville shot the man who died.

Furthermore, detectives think Perkins drove away after the shooting, according to the release. The car he allegedly left the scene in was found in Kelly Ridge later in the evening.

A warrant for Perkins’ arrest was obtained with help from the Butte County District Attorney’s Office on suspicion of one count of homicide and for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
