General duties:

• Ensure beverage stations are full at all times and cleaned daily.

Employee Dining Rooms:  

• Be assigned in any of the venues, depending on the class of the ship (Team Dining Room 1 or 2, Officer’s & Captain dining rooms).
• Gain knowledge of the menus & understand the menu cycle. 
• To consistently provide service that exceeds the expectations of our internal guests. 
• Follow employee dining room opening times & maintain high standards at all times. 
• To ensure that assigned area/station is presentable upon company standard for each meal. 
• Has to maintain flawless cleanliness standards at all times.

Room Service:  

• Responsible to log all deliveries that are being made, without exceptions. 
• Accurately maintain the Master Key Log every time when key is used. 
• Promptly deliver all guest’s food orders. 
• Deliver any orders assigned to RS: fruit baskets, letters, cabin decorations, VIP deliveries. 
• To be assigned in multiple working areas while part of the Room Service team (banqueting, main dining rooms, wheelchair assistance or similar). 

To be assigned in diverse schedules while holding a Room Service duty.

• Ensure that deck cleaning is done by following the latest ECP procedures & guidelines. 
• Follow the cleaning schedule for all machines and equipment. 

Alternate Dining (Bistro):  

• Comply with the company-specified service & display standards. 
• To be aware of all ship’s activities & lounge locations to promptly deliver a satisfactory answer to the guests. 
• To be assigned various duties decided by the supervisors/managers on duty. 
• Engage in light conversations with guests, while cleaning the tables & continuously acknowledge the guests with a smile. 
• To assist in the Main Dining Rooms whenever required. 

Job requirements:

• Minimum 1 years experience working in a Restaurant
• Fluency in conversational English,
• Customer Service experience gained in a Hotel / Restaurant serving continental cuisine.  

Undergo assigned trainings to develop skills & knowledge for the future positions.

Bar Waiter / Waitress Job Description and Duties:

- The main duties of the Bar Server consist of suggesting and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at various beverage outlets throughout the cruise ship - bars, lounges, cafes, night clubs, discos, casinos and open decks

- The Bar Stweard is providing drinks during special events and theme nights - Captain's Cocktail Party, Caribbean Night etc.

- The Bar Waiter must learn all the details regarding various cocktails, premium brand spirits, beers, wines and promote them among passengers in order to meet and exceed the sales targets set by the Bar Manager/ Beverage Director

- Suggests drinks to guests applying up selling and suggestive selling techniques thus increasing beverage products revenue and his/ her personal earnings

- Takes the orders from the guests, relays them to the Bartender and then makes sure that the beverages are served in the proper glassware with the proper garnish

- Presents each party with a separate check (unless requested otherwise), leaves copy of the check to the passenger and returns the completed checks to the assigned place

- Assist in re-stocking bars or other beverage outlets around the cruise ship

- Follows company guidelines regarding uniforms and personal hygiene and ensures that the assigned work station is clean and sanitized according to the cruise line standards and USPH and/or UKPH rules

- Participates in courses, meetings and training programs organized by the cruise line in order to develop the necessary skills needed for promotion to superior level position(s)

Bar Steward / Stewardess Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum one year of beverage serving experience in a hotel, bar, pub, night club, resort, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

Good interpersonal skills, positive attitude and willingness to learn

Cruise ship experience is preferred, but not mandatory

Excellent communication skills and good command of the English language, knowledge of additional languages is a plus.

Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Bar Server Salary Range:

$1800-2800 U.S. per month depending on the cruise line, size of ship, commission earned and gratuities from passengers. Possibilities for promotion from Bar Server to Bartender position.

Cruise passenger dies after shuttle bus crash

One woman has died and 10 others were injured after a shuttle bus crashed into the transportation area outside a Honolulu cruise terminal Friday, according to police.

The ship, Carnival Miracle, was on a 15-day journey, departing Long Beach, California, on April 6, according to Carnival Cruise Line. Nine of the people hit by the vehicle were cruise ship passengers.

"Sadly, one guest has died from her injuries. She was traveling with her husband, who was also injured and is expected to recover. Members of the Carnival Care Team are assisting the guests. Our thoughts are with the guests affected and their loved ones," Carnival Cruise Line said in a statement to ABC News.

A 57-year-old man was dropping off customers at pier 2 when a bystander told him that his vehicle was moving forward. He then jumped into the drivers seat, trying to stop the vehicle, but he accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes, colliding with two concrete barriers and eleven pedestrians, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Five pedestrians were transported to the hospital -- one of whom was later pronounced dead and four others are in good condition. Six other pedestrians refused treatment on the scene, police said.

According to police, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in the collision and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
