Legend Trailer (1986)

The story is set "once, long ago" in a world of unicorns, princesses, fairies, and demons. Cruise plays Jack O' The Green, a woodland dweller who takes Princess Lily (Sara) to see the last of the living unicorns. But temptation and fate cause the world to freeze over when the male unicorn is seriously wounded and its horn broken off and stolen, and the female unicorn and Lily are kidnapped by evil goblins. Ultimately, it is Jack (with the help of a group of fairies and Elves) who must save Lily from the demonic, Satan-like Lord of Darkness (Curry), who wants to take Lily as his bride.

Entertaining enough fantasy-adventure doesn't offer a whole lot in terms of character development and I'm not entirely sure Tom Cruise was right for that role, but it was okay and the production design and prosthetics were impressive. Kind of an oddity as a Ridley Scott film, felt more like something Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard or even Robert Zemeckis would've directed. 3.5/5

Legend

In a fantastical forest, the pure-hearted Jack takes Princess Lili to watch the unicorns. But the Lord of Darkness captures the Princess and the unicorns, plunging the world into everlasting night. Jack must descend into the devilish creature’s underground lair to save the kingdom and his true love.

Three years after his iconic Blade Runner , prolific British filmmaker Ridley Scott directed this high-budget, special-effects extravaganza starring acting duo Tom Cruise and Mia Sara. A cherished cult movie, Legend is a gorgeously designed adventure into the most fantastical of universes.

A link to the past.

Very strong chance that this may be the most visually appealing movie as far as my tastes go—beautiful on all fronts with lush scenery, hypnotic visual atmos soundwaved with euphoric tones courtesy of Tangerine Dream, the best goblins and melty faced creatures I’ve ever seen, and the single scariest image from my youth that I would eventually become obsessed with—Darkness.

A friend recently said that this will probably be the best Legend of Zelda movie that we’ll ever get and I’m inclined to agree. Hits all the beats I look for in a movie like this without being 4 hours long which almost gives the the vapors as much as that TD score. I was…

Anyone who has more than a passing familiarity with my reviews, should be aware of the fact that I don't believe in objective film analysis. My reviews and ratings are an expression of my subjective feelings on a film at that particular moment in time. But, even if I did review films objectively, this is one of those films where I would find such a task impossible. This was one of those defining films for me. As with Alien and Blade Runner , there's just something about the aesthetic of Ridley Scott's early output that resonated with me in my formative years. It's one of those films I can watch endlessly and, every time I do, for 89 minutes, I feel…

What else do you people want? This fucking thing has:

- Tim Curry wrapped in a thousand pounds of sexy latex. - Tom Cruise hugging a fox. - A Tangerine Dream score played with one elbow. - Lengthy unicorn pornography. - "I could eat her brains like jam." - Tom Cruise wearing a scale mail dress. - There's a fucking character named Honeythorn Gump. - Mia Sara, nailing her performance and still being the second prettiest. - A swamp witch played by Robert "Innerspace Cowboy" Picardo. - Tom Cruise squatting. A lot. - Billy Barty, being a goddamn delight. - A sex dungeon made by Disney. - An entire sequence devoted to throwing enormous frisbees. - The plot of at least three D&D campaigns I've played. - A way cooler fairy than that Julia Roberts Hook garbage.

a rare ornate gem of a film, easily among the best of ridley scott's work, back when his visuals were lush & overwhelming in detail instead of stringent and aseptic. legend coasts along on intuitive ethereal vibes, a tactile set-bound fantasia of slime-slick goblins, capricious fairy glamour and deliriously fervid colors, all sweetly wrapped within the buttery-smooth synths of tangerine dream's perfect score. the kind of movie where no one wears pants and tom cruise's face is constantly smothered in a thick sheen of glitter. a pure sensory experience.

Action!: The Scott Brothers – How To Get Screwed By Spielberg Twice W/ Ridley Scott

The movie that feels like a slap in the face and a “fuck you” to everyone who told Ridley he shouldn't use the unicorn in Blade Runner.

After having this movie on Prime for almost a year now, and hearing about the movie for quite some time, I finally decided to watch this somewhat bizarre fantasy movie that followed the iconic "Blade Runner". In a sense, it feels like a radical departure from the film noir, but then you realize that's not entirely the case. The film's cinematography and camera work share a lot in common with his previous project. With his display of creativity…

Charles Lee Ray Is Back in Flesh and Blood in New ‘Chucky’ Season 3 Trailer

The slasher series’ third season continues this Wednesday.

The Big Picture

  • Chucky's current series is centered around terrorizing the White House and American democracy.
  • Brad Dourif makes a physical appearance in the series as Chucky for the first time since 2013.
  • Episode 7 premieres on April 24 at 10 PM EST on SYFY and USA Network, and will be available on Peacock the next day.

Chucky continues to be one of the best franchises in horror. The killer doll’s current series is at the tail end of its third season, centered around Chucky terrorizing American democracy and the White House. Now, ahead of Season 3, Episode 7 “There Will Be Blood”, the latest Chucky trailer has given fans the best look at actor Brad Dourif’s ghostly return .

The 30-second teaser is an extended version of the previously released promo for the upcoming penultimate murder-spree that sets up the ghosts of the White House who are now running the show. Chucky the doll may finally be “dead”, but no one is safe from the wrath of Charles Lee Ray . While Dourif has been the voice of Chucky for the last 35 plus years , this is the first time the horror legend has appeared physically in the series since 2013’s Curse of Chucky . Creator Don Mancini isn’t wasting the long awaited comeback, as Dourif is seen eating up every second of the teaser. Like the best Chucky moments, this ghost story is going to be full of horror references. There’s one shot in particular where Dourif is lurking like Nosferatu that’s going to put a big smile on many fans’ faces.

‘Chucky’s Haunting Our TVs

In a franchise full of risks, Chucky’s trip to the White House has arguably been his most daring. Because of a botched exorcism, Chucky has betrayed his voodoo god Damballa . This has caused the iconic serial killer to rapidly age. On the verge of death, he infiltrates the White House as a last ditch effort to please his god, but when that doesn’t work, he goes out in a blaze of glory trying to nuke the world. That doesn’t entirely go to plan either, as Jake, Devon, and Lexy stop him, but he did end up hilariously nuking Santa before disintegrating. With Chucky now joining the ranks of the White House ghost stories, the spirits are restless . This includes the President of the United States, played by Devon Sawa , who he killed to get his eye to help activate the nukes. Outside the White House, there are still the dangling plot threads of Jennifer Tilly’s Tiffany Valentine on death row, who’s seen in the trailer, and Lexy’s sister Caroline on the lam. With two episodes left, it’s going to be exciting to see how everything comes together.

When’s ‘Chucky’s Next Episode?

Chucky Season 3, Episode 7 is premiering on Wednesday, April 24 at 10 PM EST on SYFY and USA Network. The episode will debut on Peacock the next day . While horror fans wait for Chucky ’s next blood-soaked chapter, you can watch Episode 7’s latest trailer below.
