15 Best Cabo San Lucas Tours

Cabo San Lucas – or Cape Saint Luke in English – is one of Mexico’s most popular resort cities and is located on the most southern portion of the Baja California Peninsula.

For decades, Cabo San Lucas has drawn tourists from around the world, who come to bask on its magnificent beaches and swim in its sparkling waters.

The area is full of resorts and accommodations for travelers of every age, interest, and budget; whether you’re looking for quiet sunsets or all-night parties, you’ll likely find it nearby.

The coastal waters are famed for their sport-fishing as well, with species including the elusive striped and black marlin and a number of different shark species as well.

Below are 15 of the best tours in Cabo San Lucas.

1. Cabo Submariner’s Adventure

Submarine Adventure in Los Cabos

There aren’t many places in the world where tourists can descend beneath the waves in an actual submarine, but in Cabo, this unique experience is an option.

You and your travel companions will buckle up and dip into the clear waters of the Sea of Cortez in a 60-foot submarine, from which you’ll be able to see the diverse array of fish and marine critters that call the area home.

It’s a diverse ecosystem; while enjoying the view from the air-conditioned sub, your guide will describe what it is that you’re viewing.

It’s a truly unique tour, and one you shouldn’t miss.

2. 2-Hour Whale Watching Tour

Whale Watching Adventure

Every year between December and April, the waters off Cabo San Lucas play host to migrating humpback whales.

Many of the females come to the area to give birth and nurse their young; on this two-hour tour, you’ll have an excellent opportunity to see these massive and magnificent creatures.

The tour includes a quick safety briefing and life jacket, water, and light snacks, but check in advance because photographs are extra.

The tour is given from a sturdy inflatable boat; you’ll be able to listen to the whales with underwater devices specifically made for whale-watchers too.

3. Cabo Animal Sanctuary Tour

Cabo Animal Sanctuary Tour

Full of an exotic array of animals that have been rescued from the wild due to injury or abandonment, Wild Canyon Kingdom is a great place to spend a day getting up-close-and-personal with some species of animals you may never have the chance to see again.

You’ll be led by a knowledgeable guide who will impress you with his or her knowledge of the wild world. You’ll also learn what brought these particular animals here.

A few of the tour’s highlights are iguanas, prairie dogs, and parrots.

It’s possible to touch some of them, though it’s probably not a good idea to pet the crocodile, as they tend to consider human appendages snacks.

4. Tandem Parasailing Adventure

Tandem Parasailing Adventure

Parasailing is an excellent way to get up into the air and get a bird’s eye view of the beautiful scenery below.

It’s one of the most adrenaline-filled and exhilarating activities you’ll ever do, but it’s surprisingly safe and inexpensive.

Your pre-flight meeting will include an introductory safety course; from there, you’ll head via boat to some of Cabo’s most scenic areas – like Pelican Rock and Lover’s beach.

You’ll stay aloft for around 10 minutes and reach hundreds of feet into the air. Take your camera and snap a few high-altitude selfies, and don’t forget to look for dolphins, whales and sea lions below.

5. Camel Safari

Camel Safari in Cabo San Lucas

If you’re tired of the crowds and want to do something unique, consider a guided camel excursion along a scenic beach.

At 15 minutes, it’s not exactly a Lawrence of Arabia grade trek, but you’ll get an interesting glimpse into the exotic beasts, as well as some interesting cultural highlights.

The tour includes a famous turtle breeding area. If you’re there in winter, you may catch a glimpse of whales offshore as well.

The tour is full of amazing scenery and even includes lunch, a tortilla-making demonstration, and a tequila tasting.

There really aren’t any other tours that offer such an eclectic mix of activities.

6. Glass-Bottom Boat Tour

Glass-Bottom Boat Tour

If being submerged in a submarine and snorkeling in waters full of large, toothy predators isn’t exactly your cup of tea, then consider this glass-bottom boat tour instead.

You’ll stay safe and dry while still viewing many of the area’s most colorful fish and sea creatures.

The tour is great for those with little ones and includes stops at The Arch, Land’s End and Pirate’s Cove.

Your captain will give you a running narrative of the things you’re seeing; one of the favorites is the colony of sea lions that are usually frolicking in the surf or napping on the rocky coast.

Photos, snacks, and refreshments aren’t included.

7. Shared Sunset Sailing Cruise

Shared Sunset Sailing Cruise in Cabo San Lucas

Cabo sunsets are amazing no matter where you view them from, but there’s something extra special about witnessing one from the deck of a gently rolling sailboat.

The tour starts with a cruise past Land’s End, Sunset Beach, and The Arch. From there, your captain will position the boat at the optimum location from which to watch the sun dip behind the horizon.

Tour size is limited to create an intimate atmosphere, and yummy appetizers and an open bar are included.

Transportation to and from the dock isn’t included, but ask the staff where you’re staying to help you find a ride.

8. 3 ½ -Hour Canyon Bungee Jump

Canyon Jump

Bungee jumping is another popular activity with fit and fearless adrenaline junkies, and with its deep gorges and canyons, the country around Cabo is made for it.

The tour takes place in El Tule Canyon. You’ll get a thorough safety briefing and all the equipment you need to have a safe and exciting experience.

If you’re staying in Cabo’s central tourist area, the tour includes door-to-door transportation. After you’ve all taken the great plunge into the canyon hundreds of feet below, you’ll have a chance to relax at a nearby restaurant and enjoy an adult beverage or two to get that heart rate back down.

9. 1-Hour Guided Wave-Runner Tour

Waverunner Guided Tour

From submarines and zip-lines to parasailing and glass-bottom boats, Cabo has more than its fair share of unique and exhilarating tours; this wave-runner tour is another that’ll make memories that won’t soon be forgotten.

You’ll get a course on how to handle the powerful machine safely, and a life jacket before you head out.

The tour is limited to groups of five wave-runners. Some of the attractions include dolphins, turtles, sea lions and an amazing array of fish species too.

Some wave-runners are built for one passenger while others carry two, so it’s perfect even if some of your travel companions don’t feel confident driving.

10. Half-Day Kayak and Snorkel Tour to Santa Maria and Chileno Bay

 Half Day Kayak & Snorkel

This half-day tour is a great option for those looking to distance themselves from the overcrowded tourist areas and do a bit of communing with Mother Nature.

Santa Maria and Chilen Bay are some of the area’s most scenic destinations. On this 3 ½-hour tour, you’ll see some amazing natural wonders like steep, jagged cliffs plunging into the sea and an underwater ecosystem that’s noted for its amazing diversity of colorful sea life.

The kayaks feature glass bottoms, so even if you choose to sit out the tour’s snorkeling portion, you’ll still get a great view of what’s below.

11. Migriño ATV Beach Tour

ATV Beach Tour

The Baja Peninsula is one of Mexico’s most scenic and natural areas and there’s no better way to see it than via a guided ATV tour.

The peninsula is full of dunes, cliffs and scrubby forested areas that are perfect for ATVs.

Before heading out, you’ll get a safety orientation from your bi-lingual guide, then you’ll head out into the wild in an area that’s often referred to as Mexico’s Outback.

You may see a few animals along the way, and some towering cacti as well.

Though ATVs are relatively safe, you may want to consider purchasing additional insurance. Park entry and environmental fees aren’t included.

12. Cabo Off-Road Adventure

Cabo Off-Road Adventure

This Cabo off-road adventure tour begins with a drive along the peninsula’s Pacific coast to a private ranch, where you’ll meet your guide and get a pre-trip briefing.

Then you’ll head out into the Baja, which is nearly pristine in this area, making the sights you’ll see uniquely rare and beautiful.

Canyons, beaches and rocky hills are also on the itinerary; some of the terrain will test the vehicles’ ability and give guests a dose of adrenaline like few other tours will.

The tour ends with a stop at a local cantina, where guests can indulge in a few drinks and talk about the highlights.

13. Photo Tour of Todos Santos “The Magic Town”

Photo Tour Of Todos Santos

The Baja Peninsula’s Todos Santos – or Magic Town – is a great place to see the area’s unique cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Local hotel pickup and drop-off are included. The guided walking tour will lead guests through the area’s historic sites, like a Jesuit mission-style church, The Tropic of Cancer Monument, and another monument built to the gray whales that flock to the area’s waters during the winter months.

You’ll have time to stroll through some local shops too, which include a coffee bean roaster, blanket making facility, and a candy shop that’s always a big hit – especially for those with a sweet tooth.

14. 4-Hour Zip-Line Outing in Wild Canyon

Zip Line in Wild Canyon

If you’re ready to see the sights from the perspective of a soaring bird, then this four-hour zip-line tour of Wild Canyon is a must.

The canyon is in the center of an arid, desert-like area but features a lush oasis at the bottom.

In addition to unobstructed views of the amazing landscape, you’ll see the shimmering Sea of Cortez.

Whether it’s your first zip-line or you’re an old pro, you’ll get a thorough safety briefing before heading out.

Lines of different height are available, the tallest of which reaches nearly 2,700 feet above the canyon floor.

15. Luxury Yacht Cruise

Luxury Yacht Cruise

Though most of us will never be rich and famous, it doesn’t mean that we can’t experience a little luxury once in a while.

This luxury yacht cruise is a special and unique opportunity to see the splendor of the Baja Peninsula and the Sea of Cortez from the deck of a boat that’s usually reserved for high rollers.

The tour visits Santa Maria and Chileno Bay. Activities include snorkeling and stand-up paddle boarding if you’d like to get a bit of exercise.

If you’d rather stay on board, that’s OK too. The boat has plenty of shaded seating areas and includes a light lunch and open bar.

Looking for the best whale watching tour in Cabo San Luca? you have landed in the right place.

In December 2022 I went back to Cabo just to see the whales and I ended up with the best possible tour available in Los Cabo. In this post, I will tell you all about it plus a few other different options.

I will also share everything you need to know to enjoy this Cabo whale tour fully.

Whales and dolphins have become now my new obsession and I made it my mission to visit places in the world where to see whales and dolphins and at the same time make sure I choose companies that are eco-friendly and are not invasive in their approach to these graceful creatures.

In this post, you will find all the information you need about whale-watching in Cabo and I share my incredible experience so that you can do the same!

Cabo Trek Whale Breaching

🐳 Ready to book your whale-watching tour? 🐳

I took a tour with  CaboTrek , and I can’t recommend them enough.

The group was small enough for us to have lots of room on the spacious boat so that we could move around and get a great view of the whales.

The guide, Andrea, was a marine biologist not only very knowledgeable and passionate about whales but very kind and friendly and shared a lot of interesting information about the whale’s behavior and best practices.

Also, their boats have a toilet, which may come in handy, as lateral seats, and space up front, for better views.

You can book now to save your seat, as they book fast, knowing that you can cancel up to 24 hours before the tour and get a full refund. ➡️  Clik here to book the whale tour in Cabo

Please Note:  I was  not   paid  by this company to write a review nor they offered me a complimentary tour .  I paid full price for this tour out of my own pocket, and the review I am sharing here is completely unbiased.

In fact, I am not the only one who was happy with this tour. Whale watching tour with Cabo Trek has 520 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews, which says a lot. 👉 read more reviews .

The tour was excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable. We saw a lot of whales and I would highly recommend this trip. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Naomi_C, Jan 2023

Would you like to learn more about whale watching in Cabo?

Let’s dive in. Here below you can find more detailed info on these incredible creatures, you will learn why Cabo San Lucas is one of the best destinations for whale watching and lots of practical tips and things to know before booking a whale tour.

Whale Watching in Cabo San Lucas

Located at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas is one of the most popular high-end beach destinations in Mexico. Not many know that Los Cabos is also one of the top spots for whale watching in Mexico .

In fact, every winter, many different species of whales arrive here from the Alaska water after a very long journey to breed and give birth.

It’s not rare to see these spectacular creatures from the beach around Los Cabos but if you want to admire them at a closer distance and watch them breaching and slapping, you can do that too, by joining one of the available tours.

It is very important to respect the whale’s natural behavior and this is why it is our responsibility to choose the right company that follows the established rules put in place by the Mexican government to protect this spectacular animal and respects the environment.

Cabo Trek prides itself on being “ the FIRST ecotourism company in Mexico to obtain the official recognition of “Responsible Whale Watching Operator” assigned by the World Cetacean Alliance. “

This is another reason why I highly recommend their tours .

What kind of whales you will find in Cabo?

You can find many different species of whales in the waters around Cabo, including humpback whales, grey whales, blue whales, sperm whales, and even magnificent orcas (killer whales).

However, from Los Cabos, it is more common to see humpback whales than others and tours are available from Cabo San Lucas and Cabo Pulmo .

It is important to mention that sometimes you can see humpback whales in Cabo while you are out on the boat for another tour .

In fact, I saw humpback whales during a snorkeling tour where we were looking for Mobula rays (which are mainly seen in the summer, though).

We didn’t see the Mobula rays but we saw an incredible show of humpback whales slapping their tail and head relatively close to our boat.

If you are out on a boat for whatever reason, the captain and the guide are usually on the lookout for any wildlife activity regardless of the purpose of your trip.

So even if you are not on a whale-watching tour but they see a whale they will stop and let you watch them, which is really cool.

It’s also fascinating to see how locals get excited every time they see a whale even though they see them every day. I would be like that too. Whale encounters just never get boring.

From Cabo San Lucas you can join whale tours for other types of whales. Cabo Trek has other equally highly-rated tours to see the gray whales and whale sharks.

The first one is a two-day tour to see the grey whales in Magdalena Bay . If you want to see the whale sharks instead, you can join their whale shark tour which is just a day trip from Cabo San Lucas.

If you are not planning a road trip in Baja California where you can go to the above-mentioned destinations by yourself, I would recommend joining these tours with CaboTrek. Click on the above links to read more about the tours.

Whale season in Cabo

Whale season in Cabo varies by type of whale. They all get to Cabo in winter but you can see them in different location and in different months.

Humpback whales can be seen in the waters off Cabo San Lucas from December to April. This is when they migrate to the area to breed and give birth.

The best time to see humpback whales in Cabo can vary from year to year, as the timing of the whale migration can be influenced by a number of factors, including water temperature, food availability, and other environmental conditions.

The peak season for humpback whale watching in Cabo is January to March, when the greatest number of whales are typically in the area.

However, this year I was told that they have been seeing whales since November. Regardless, Whale watching tours are always available from December 15th up to April 15th.

Whale head

The best time to see whales in Cabo

Even though you can spot whales from mid-November, only by mid-December the population of Humpback Whales in Cabo can see a great level of activity in the waters near Cabo San Lucas.

Late December and early January is the best time to see newborn baby Humpback whales, while from early February to the end of the season in April, the baby Humpback Whales become more active and energetic.

In March and April, groups of adult Humpback Whales may also be seen migrating north.

Unlike Humpback whales, the majority of Gray whale mating, birthing, and nursing activity occur further north, in places like Magdalena Bay. Gray whales are less common in Cabo San Lucas compared to Humpback whales.

Whale watching in Cabo

When is the best time of the day to see whales?

There is no precise time of the day to see the whale as the local professionals who watch them every day didn’t find that they follow a particular pattern or daily habits.

The good news is that, although it cannot be 100% sure that you will see a whale during a tour, it’s very likely you do. If one or many, you cannot be sure.

Also, the boat captains from different companies, scattered around the coast of Cabo, will talk to each other and the one who sees some activity will notify the others. And that further increases the chance for you to see them.

QUICK NOTE – Please note that being the whales in their natural environment tour operators cannot guarantee that you will see the whale and therefore in the remote case that you won’t see them there is no refund.

One thing that is certain is that the sea in the morning is calmer, so if you easily suffer from seasickness you may want to get out in the first turn, usually around 9 am.

March and April are the windiest months so you may find the sea rougher but it is also more likely that you will be rewarded with more whale activities.

If you stay a few days in Los Cabos, and you really want to make sure you see whales and all their performances, such as tail slapping or breaching, which is even more spectacular, I would suggest you book 2 or 3 tours on different days, which increases the chances for you to see them and their spectacular shows.

The best whale-watching tour in Cabo San Luca

➡️ humpback whale watching in cabo san lucas with cabo trek.

As I mentioned before, in my opinion, the best whale-watching tour in Cabo is the one organized by Cabotrek. Not that I tried them all, but I just don’t think you can beat the tour I did with them. Here are the reasons why.

✅ The guide, Andrea, was very knowledgeable and professional, but also very friendly and passionate about the whales and the best environmentally friendly practices. She shared a lot of interesting information about the whale’s behavior and what to do to respect their routine.

✅ We had a small boat which has a capacity of 16 people but we were only 8 and in general they accept a maximum number of 12 participants. So we had a lot of room to move around and each of us could get a great spot to watch the whales.

✅ The price is reasonable if you consider that you will find group tours from 75 to 120 USD per person, Cabo trek price is right in the middle.

✅ They speak English! Both the guide and the captain speak English. So if Spanish is not your forte, you don’t have to worry about it.

✅ You can choose between 8 am, 11 am or 2.30 pm trip. And you also have the option to choose a private tour where you will be on the boat with your party only. Just follow the same link here below and select the private trip.

✅ They have 520 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reviews !!

Great trip! Wonderful guides/staff! Our guide was extremely experienced and knowledgeable. We had an excellent time and saw several whales. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Denise_J, Jan 2023

How does it work?

After you book your tour on Viator, ( Click here to do that ), you will receive an email with a meeting time and a link to google map to make it easier for you to find the meeting point, which is in their office in the Marina, usually, 20 minutes before the tour starts.

Your assigned guide will meet you there and take you to the boat, which is at about 5 minute’s walk from there. You can use the nearby restrooms (very clean) before getting on the boat. However, there is a small toilet on the boat for emergencies.

Tour Cancellation policy

Another cool thing about this whale-watching tour in Cabo San Lucas is that you can cancel 24 hours before the tour starts if anything happens. They will refund you fully.

Whale Slapping in Cabo

For later cancellations, you may want to consider getting travel insurance, which includes coverage in case of cancellations of travel plans due to reasons that are included in the policy.

Other whale-watching tours in cabo san lucas.

If you want to try different tours on different types of boats you can do that too, as Cabo San Lucas is pretty much a marine destination, which means that you will find all sorts of boat tours in different boats, sailing boats, catamarans, or even zodiac.

I personally don’t like this type of tour in the zodiac. I have seen them while I was on the Cabotrek boat, as you can see from the pictures I took. Since I love photography going on a zodiac is not ideal.

Once you get your own seat and you can’t move and you may end up in the middle one which is not the best position to take pictures. However, if you are not into photography and you don’t really care, it could be another option. I saw different positive reviews on those tours done with Cabo Adventures as well.

Catamarans are also an option. Here below I will share the top tours in Los Cabos for each boat.

Whale tale watched by tourists in a Zodiac

➡️ Whale Watching, The Famous Arch, and Fast Boat Tour in Los Cabos 🐳

This tour is on a Zodiac with Cabo Adventures – 183 4.5 ⭐️ Reviews

If you compare it to the CaboTrek tour mentioned above, this company has a few complaints about the pickup and the organization in general. Also, this tour lasts 2 hours only vs the 2h 30 minutes of the tour with CaboTrek tour. In fact, they have 6 hours per day while Cabo Trek has only 3.

To be fair this tour with Cabo Adventure also receive good reviews as well, like the one below.

Great Veery good day out whale watching, picked up on time and a very good informative trip out to see whales breaching in the coast just of off the beach ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Colin_C, Feb 2020

Once you book your tour on Viator , just make sure you communicate directly with the tour company and confirm the pickup point or the tour departure in order to avoid misunderstandings. Or just take care your own transfer so you won’t miss the tour.

Whale watching in a catamaran

➡️ Luxury Catamaran Whale Watching Cabo San Lucas 🐳

If you prefer catamarans rather than small boats, this tour is for you. It’s also organized by Cabo Adventure and it highly rated with 324 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Reviews

The only cons of this tour, in my personal opinion, is that there are too many people on board. But the catamaran is quite big so you should be able to find your space to watch the whales and photograph them.

The tour includes drinks and snacks and last 2 hrs and 30 minutes.

There is a pickup and drop-off service available for a small extra fee.

Fun tour in Cabo! Boat was really nice and clean. Staff was great, nice drinks and snacks. Saw lots of whales! We also missed our pickup and they rescheduled us for another day. That was really nice! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Shelly_F, Dec 2022

whale tale cabo tour

Private boat tour Cabo san Lucas

If you are interested in a private tour, that would be the best way to go, as you have the boat all for yourself and your party and you have all the space you want to move around and see the whales better.

Especially for photographers, or anyone who loves the peace and comfort of a private tour, this is the best choice.

➡️ Cabo Private Whale Watching Tour – Incl FREE photos & Whale Sightings Guarantee

38 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reviews

This private tour is offered by Whale Watch Cabo another reputable company in Cabo San Lucas.

The cost starts from 369 USD per person (minimum 2 people) and it decreases with additional passengers. So if you travel with a party of 4 people, you will pay 200 USD each, if you are 6 you will pay $149.83 each, and so on.

There are three daily departure times that you can choose from, 8.30, 12, and 3 pm, depending on availability. It’s advisable to book a couple of days in advance at least.

The tour last 2hrs and 30 minutes and it’s guided by a marine biologist. Guests will also receive complimentary pictures at the end of the tour.

An English and Spanish-speaking marine biologist and photographer guide will do their best to spot whales and dolphins and take great pictures for you to take home.

If you cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time you get a full refund!

Amazing whale encounter This trip was amazing, so up close and personal with the whales and sea lions, the tour guide and boat captain were great! Highly recommend this your. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dana_N, Dec 2022

Where to see whales in Baja California

In Baja California, there are specific areas where it’s easier to see a specific kind of whale. From Cabo San Lucas you can easily go and visit the gray whales in Bahia Magdalena or the whale sharks in la Paz bay where they usually go breed and give birth as well.

Naturally, all types of whales are everywhere in the sea of Cortez and on the Pacific coast along the Baja Peninsula. However, the places that I am mentioning in this post are locations where you have a better chance to see them and therefore where tours will take you.

Gray whale in Bahia Magdalena

Gray whales in Baja California

You can see gray whales further north on the Pacific Coast of Baja California Sur, in Magdalena Bay, Puerto Chale, Adolfo Lopez Mateos, San Carlos, and San Ignacio.

I speak about it in more detail in my guide on whale watching in Mexico . So If you are renting a car and going on your own you should definitely check it out.

If you are staying in Cabo, and you don’t feel like renting a car, you can join an amazing two-day tour organized by CaboTrek .

They will take you to the village of Adolfo Lopez Mateos, about 4 hour’s drive from Cabo, where you will be able to enjoy 2 whale-watching tours and stay in a cozy Guest House, included in the package. ► BOOK IT HERE

Where to swim with Whale Sharks from Los Cabos

You can go and swim with whale sharks in La Paz from Los Cabos, as there are tours that will take you on a day trip, and include transportation boat tours, and equipment.

Swimming with Whale Sharks is another incredible experience but it needs to be done with companies that follow all the established rules to respect and protect them. Cabotrek will take you there as well. ► BOOK YOUR TOUR HERE

Where to see blue whales from Cabo San Lucas

It’s difficult to spot blue whales in Cabo. To see the blue whales in Baja California you will need to drive all the way up north to Loreto , one of my favorite Magic Towns in Mexico .

You just need to book a tour with a local travel agent in Loreto that costs around 130 – 150 USD and it will take you to a specific area where the Blue whales hang out.

They are the biggest animal alive and it’s amazing watching them coming on the surface to breath and diving back down when they show their huge tails.

Blue whale tale

As a plus for this tour, you will likely see a pod of dolphins swimming along the boat on your way to the whales. It was one of the best tours I have done in Baja California Sur.

Also, the blue whales are around from January through the end of March, sometimes until the beginning of April but I wouldn’t risk it.

Unfortunately, I don’t know of any tours that take you to Loreto also because it must be at least a 3-day tour.

Regardless I would recommend spending 4 or 5 days there as there are many things to do and see. If you don’t drive no worries, you can get the public bus Aguila from Cabo San Lucas to Loreto and book tours with local agencies from there. It just takes forever but you’ll eventually get there. 🤣

Otherwise book your car on Discovercars , where you can compare prices and see what’s the best deal for you. If you are unsure, you can read my Discover Cars review post.

Whale-watching best practices

So now that you know which tour to book to have the best whale-watching experience in Cabo, you should learn a little bit about whale-watching best practices.

Although your guide will share more information during the tour, I just want to give you the heads-up on a couple of things.

► Drones are not allowed to be used during whale watching tours, for many reasons, especially because many people tend to fly the drone too low and besides disturbing the whale, it can end up in the water. Whales can jump very high when they breach and their blow can get to your drone and take it down, hurting the whale before getting lost in the sea.

► Can I swim with whales? It’s not allowed to swim with whales because their behavior is unpredictable and they can unintentionally hurt you when they move. And it’s also illegal.

► Can I dive with whales? for the same reason mentioned above it’s prohibited to dive with whales. That’s different if you encounter a whale while you are diving (I wished it happened to me) but you can only dive in authorized sites with certified dive shops.

► It is also not allowed to feed or touch them – as physical contact can transmit harmful diseases and feeding them can make them sick or reliant on humans for food. (this doesn’t aply for grey whales which are the one coming towards the boat to get petted)

whale tale slapping

► Using sonar, a device that uses sound waves to locate submarines and whales, is also prohibited.

► Whale watching at night is only allowed for scientific purposes and with permission from SEMARNAT (Secretaria del Medio Ambiente).

► Needless to say, but I will say it anyway, just in case, please do not throw garbage or any waste overboard at any time (not even the organic stuff because they simply don’t belong there)!

► Boats cannot get too close to the whales unless it’s the whale swimming close to the boat. Usually, when the boat captain sees some movements at a distance, he speeds up in order to get closer to the whale to allow you to see them.

However they still have to respect a certain distance and they cannot by any means position the boat in front of the whales so that they don’t get in their way, or disrupt their natural behaviour or block their route.

The same applies when you swim with whale sharks. You can swim close to them on the side or behind, keeping a certain distance, but you cannot swim in front of them. And I am sure you wouldn’t really want to do that!🤭

What to bring on a whale-watching excursion

When you are going on a whale watching tour in Cabo you need to consider that it is most likely to get cold, no matter what time of the day you are going out.

It’s winter in Cabo and, although the climate is generally pleasant, it can get cold when you are out on the boat.

So you can wear your shorts and flip flops, but make sure you bring a thick jacket or dress in layer with a sweater and a windbreaker. Also, don’t forget to put on sunscreen and sunglasses and maybe a baseball hat that doesn’t fly away.

Bring a camera because those are moments that you will want to photograph and take with you.

Additionally, remember some cash for the tip. And you are good to go 🙂

What is the best month to see whales in Cabo San Lucas?

It’s always the best month to see whales however if you want to see the calves you should go mid January to February . The second half of February is when the most of activity is taking place.

Where can I watch whales in Cabo?

There are dedicated areas where boats from certified companies are allowed to look for whales. In reality, it’s easy to see whales from the beach sometimes, or if you are staying in a beachfront hotel in Cabo , make sure you ask for a higher floor and stay on the lookout from your balcony.

Is whale watching better in Cabo or Puerto Vallarta?

I haven’t been whale watching in Puerto Vallarta yet but it is also a renowned destination for whale watching and around March and April lots of humpback whales put up a show in Bandera bay.

It’s very easy to see them either by tour or from your hotel balcony. Sometimes they get there earlier, like during this season.

In Puerto Vallarta you can also swim with dolphins in the wild , which is the only way I would agree to swim with them. That is from April through December only, though.

However if I have to choose between Cabo and Puerto Vallarta to do whale watching I would choose Cabo, no doubt.

Why are most beaches in Cabo not swimmable?

This is not totally accurate, as the majority of the beaches in Cabo are swimmable because they are located in protected bays.

However, on some occasions and in some months, currents are stronger and therefore it’s advisable not to swim. The best part is that the majority of the beaches like Santa Maria or Medano beach have a beach guards warning people when it’s not possible to swim.

Having said that, Medano beach is the most swimmable beach of all while Playa Monumentos is the best beach in Los Cabo for surfers

When should I avoid Cabo?

Never. Cabo is a great destination all year round. You just need to know what to expect when you visit. In my post on the best time to visit Los Cabos I cover every month weather, events and things to do, so that you can decide accordingly.

Is los Cabos or Cancun better?

Whether it’s Los Cabos better than Cancun or vice versa is difficult to say. It depends on what kind of vacation you are looking for and if you are fond of a specific activity that you find in one destination or the other.

For example to swim with the whale sharks in Cancun you must be there from mid-June through mid-August. To see the whales in Cabo from mid-December to mid-April.

The high season is the same for both destinations and so are the shoulder and low seasons less crowded and with lower prices.

Cabo is cooler at night because of the desertic climate, while summers are very hot in both destinations, Cancun is more humid in the summer but it still gets cooler at night.

I found Cabo more walkable as the downtown area is prettier than Cancun’s downtown and close to the marina so you can walk around easily and you can get the public busses to the beaches along the Corridor area if you don’t have a car, although I suggest you should rent one.

Finally, Cabo is more expensive than Cancun overall, but you can find cheap accommodations and local eateries in both destinations in case you are traveling on a budget.

Is Los Cabos safer than Cancun?

Both destination are relatively safe although some kind of common sense is required if you want to avoid getting into trouble. So things like avoiding overdrinking or looking for drugs (let alone use them), not flaunt your riches are necessary actions to prevent unpleasant situations, among others.

In my guides about Cancun Safety and Cabo safety I will cover the whole topic in details.

If you are traveling solo to Cancun or Cabo, you don’t have to worry. Just mind your surroundings and also follow the same safety tips I suggested above. Also make sure you don’t walk in isolated roads at night.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

We get this question a lot - "how do I know I can trust you?".  Another good one is "why should I choose you?".  Always a hard question to answer - what do you say to that?  Well, we'll let our customers do the talking!

It takes a little something special to make people want to take time out of their lives to drop us a note to thank us for helping them to have a good time.  Here are some of the folks who have done just that.  Thanks for the warm fuzzies!

Let us know how you thought our service was We love to hear from you!

"Our pirate cruise was fantastic!! The food was very good, the staff was very attentive and friendly, and the booze flowed! We loved the music and the entire atmosphere on the ship!! Thanks for helping to make my 60 th a blast!!" - Yasmeen from Covington, GA

"We booked a tour through Cabo San Lucas Tours when we went on Carnival Cruise.  We were a family of 13 on a family vacation (mom, sisters, husband, nephews and niece)  We had booked a tour in Cabo for the L a Princesa Snorkeling tour on a Catamaran for Monday.  We were supposed to meet at the dock at 11:00am.  Unfortunately we didn’t make it in time and called CSLT (Cabo San Lucas Tours). They had said the boat would wait for us until 12:15pm.  Well with the heavy swells and choppy water, AND due to the tendering process, we didn’t get to land until about 1:00pm. We missed the boat.  So when we arrived back to LA, I called to let CLST know what had happened. They advised me to send an email about our situation and they will have customer relations review it.  A few days later, I rec’d an email that they had FULLY REFUNDED our money! They said it didn’t fall into the “no port, no pay” policy, but they would treat it as such due to the weather conditions.  My family and I were really appreciative for them doing that.  They really are very honest and understanding people. I would definitely book any excursions through them again!" - Christi from Stockton, California

We also booked through their Mazatlan Tours website as well for the ATV riding for Tues. July 5. We had no problem with that and that was the most memorable time on our vacation!

I would really recommend them when booking your vacation excursions, as we had no problem. They are a very trustworthy company!

"Just wanted to say we had a great City Tour with Alejandro on 6th October. He was very a  interesting guide & was are of things that would keep the children interested, as well as the adults. They loved the glass-blowing! Many thanks for a great tour, which was such good value, compared to the ship excursions which are always much too expensive!" - Alisa from Australia

"We did 2 separate tours with Cabo San Lucas Tours and also booked airport transportation to/from our condo in San Jose Del Cabo. First tour was the Sunset Dinner . Mario picked us up promptly & delivered us to our tour at Cabo San Lucas Marina right on time. He stood in line with us & handed our paperwork to the correct deck hand. The boat cruise tour was first rate. Circled in front of Arch. Friendly fun staff, good food & open bar. Prior we went to a Tequila Tasting. Fantastic! Swish, swallow & exhale. LOL. Very informative. Tasted at least 5 unique flavored Tequills & 4 various aged ones. One was $100 a bottle American. QUALITY. Souvenir shopping was also on itinerary. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. He was very polite and very informed about the area, had a great personality. We were so impressed we requested him for our 6 hour private driver tour . Unfortunately that couldn't be arranged. Again - his name is Mario. You won't regret it if he is able to b your tour guide. Second tour was the private driver tour for 6 hours. Our guide was Manuel. We were discouraged we didn't have Mario but Manuel was just as personable & enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour. We first drove around San Jose Del Cabo area - back & main roads. We were shown the marina, high priced neighborhoods and given a history of region, culture & it's people. So informative. Saw things we would have never discovered on our own. We then parked by town square. This part of tour included the Church Mission, glass blowing demonstration, shopping and another Tequilda Tasting (never too much of that in Mexico). Second leg of the 6 hours consisted of touring the corridor between San Jose San Jose del Cabo & Cabo San Lucas then into Cabo San Lucas itself. Manuel was such a wealth of knowledge. Anything we asked he could answer. We ended with a fun late lunch at The Office. Service there was comparable to the finest big city restaurants. Food & drinks terrific and reasonably priced. Water view great. Hint - try to get table 2nd row back from Beach. Less hectic & vendors cannot approach but you can still see their wares Manuel who had walked with us from car to door was waiting to pick us up. He carried our purchases & was always the gentleman. If you really want to know the Cabo corridor that you're visiting this tour is a must. Simply cannot go wrong with Cabo San Lucas Tours and Mario & Manuel as your guides!" - Patty & Elaine from U.S.A.

"We just returned from cabos, and did the camel quest and the lands end tours and we had an amazing time. The guides were very nice and helpful and made our experience an incredible one. will recommend and will do again on our return to Cabos!" - Luis from Miami, Florida

"Just wanted to drop a quick note to say THANK YOU for the amazing experience that you provided to us.  It was our first time in Cabo, and my boyfriend surprised me with a private beach horseback ride . Our guide, Eddie, was absolutely fabulous from the very first second we met him. He placed us on horses we felt comfortable with, and asked us about ourselves and our horse experience so he could go at the right pace for us. We had given him my camera so he could take photos throughout our ride and he really went above and beyond. The best part? My boyfriend proposed to me on the ride and Eddie was able to capture the ENTIRE thing!! I cannot tell you how absolutely precious this is to me. He was completely professional and I honestly don’t even remember him being there, but the photos that he captured will be treasured forever. I have attached several here…I have MANY more that I am more than happy to share. I would just like Eddie to know that everything he did for us was TRULY appreciated.  It also shouldn’t go without saying, that even without the proposal it would have been a terrific experience. The driver who picked us up from our hotel was professional, the ranch was clean and all the horses seemed very well cared for. We will DEFINITELY be back on our next trip to Cabo and would love to have Eddie as our guide again!" - Shay & Travis from Las Vegas, Nevada

"We just returned from a Carnival Miracle Cruise with a fantastic stop in Cabo.  It was a family reunion and we wanted to do something fun with a group of 11 that included many ages.  We rented the La Islita boat tour . Cara and Jonathan were fantastic!  We noticed all the other pandas and motor boats in the area appeared to be stuffed with people but our boat allowed you to walk around with comfortable cushioned chairs and sofas, allowed us to play our own music, stopped by the marina store for drinks since we didn’t bring our own and we all had a great time for the 3 hour cruise Both Jonathan and Cara spent time showing the group how to paddle board and then took one group on a snorkel tour. It was a great day for everyone!" - The Gamble Family from Huntington Beach, North Carolina

"We booked a roundtrip airport/hotel transfer and an ATV Tour through Johann & Sandra CaboSanLucasTours. Our transfer was at the airport on arrival and delivered us to our hotel. The return transfer arrived a few minutes early because he was unable to find his first stop but thankfully we know a little Spanish and the location of the hotel he was looking for. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time.    The ATV Tour was amazing. We are experienced riders and were the only people on our tour to La Candelaria.  Our guide , Armando,  was wonderful and took us on the best paid excursion we have ever experienced. We will book the ATV Tour each time we visit Cabo now after this great experience with such amazing views. We would definitely use Johann & Sandra again. Everything was on time and efficient and we liked the ease of everything already scheduled and paid!"  - The Moores from Ohio

"My husband and I had a blast with our tour guide Mario. He gave us a grand tour thru the winding roads of Mexico. This 10hr tour was a great way to experience the native culture in La Paz, MX. We were picked up by Mario at our hotel 8am sharp in Cabo San Lucas, MX. He took us and another couple to a great Mom & Pop eatery were we had the best tamales in the world. We saw so many great things - such things like Church's built back in the 1850's. We also saw the famous "Hotel California" We actually stood on the precise spot of "The Tropic of Cancer". The native people were very friendly even though they didn't speak English - but smiles are very universal - you can get anything with a smile. Mario was very informative and eager to explain and answer all of our questions. The day was long but very much worth it, so tell a friend. Sending a Big SHOUT OUT to Mario... "You go Boy" Thanks for everything!!!! - Karen from Richland, Washington

"just wanted to thank your group in Ensenada for such a pleasant experience. We really had a great time with your ATV tour . I had my 5 year son and 4 year old daughter and David our guide really took good care of us. We really felt safe with David guiding us along the way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! - John Gutierrez from Baldwin Park, California

"Used your shuttle service from the airport to our hotel. Much to our surprise our driver drove a Suburban instead of a van. The free water was an added bonus. The return trip to the airport was just as good - your driver showed up on time!" - PJ from Port Jefferson, New York

"Just wanted you to know we took our trip to Todos Santos yesterday and had Mario for our guide (once again) and everything was great!  The information Mario provides makes the trips both fun and educational. The tour of The Hotel California as well as lunch was excellent!" - Robert and Kimberly from Tampa Bay, Florida

"Went to Baja Buggys today and had an absolute blast!  Our guide Mauricio made sure everyone had a fun safe time. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who can go. I will say this, you WILL get dirty so dress accordingly unlike a few on our tour. They provide bandanas but having a second one on hand to put on your head under the helmet helps tremendously. Have fun and drive it like you stole it!" - Robert and Kimberly from Tampa Bay, Florida

"Just wanted you to know that we took our trip to La Paz yesterday and it was great. Our guide Mario was on time to pick us up at our condo, in fact he was a bit early.  Before we headed out he took time to explain to our small group of 5 exactly where we would be going, what we would be seeing and where we would stop along the way. We stopped at a little roadside restaurant for a quick snack and I had a delicious empanada, my only regret was I only got one! When we stopped in El triunfo Mario took time to explain a lot of history about the location as well as La Paz. We spent some time in  La Paz and then we went to a nice local restaurant for lunch and then headed to Todos Santos for a bit to do some sightseeing and shopping. Overall a great experience and can't say enough about Mario!" - Robert and Kimberly from Tampa Bay, Florida

"We just returned from our trip to Cabo San Lucas yesterday.  We had a wonderful time.  We used your transportation service to and from the airport.  They were easy to spot and after a long trip a nice bottle of cold water.  The vehicles were clean and appreciate the AC.  We also booked two tours:  the City Deluxe Tour and the ATV tour to Candaleria.  Again very prompt for hotel pick-up, excellent drivers and guides.  And because we had booked ahead of time we did not have to mess with sales people. We look forward to using your services the next time we return to Cabo!" - Gary and Suzie from Sunnyside, Washington

"Your airport shuttle service has always been reliable and on time, staff are all pleasant and polite, and your prices are the most reasonable I have found. I and my family have used your service three times this year! Thank you for the good work you do!!" - Sharon from Eau Claire, Wisconsin

"I used your shuttle service from the airport to San Jose del Cabo. I appreciated the advance information regarding time share salesmen as I was misdirected by one and felt able to find my way to your representatives. Your people  were courteous and helpful, and I would happily recommend this service to others!" - Pam from Salt Spring Island, Canada

"We have used this company for airport transportation and for a whale watching tour. I will never use anyone else for transportation....and now, I will only use them for any tours we need. Great company with superb communication. Thank you for making our stay in Cabo so enjoyable!" - Adrienne from Bartlett, Illinois

"I have to say that your website is just OK but your people are GREAT!!  Especially Andrea today.  I have spoken to others in the past who were also great!" - Mark from Lake Forest, California

"I would like to give you some feedback on a tour “ Hideaway Villages ” that I booked through your company. This was one of the best tours I have ever been on. It was so interesting and the guide did an excellent job of making the experience interesting for me and for two others who were on the tour, but did not speak English.  The driver went out of his way in so many ways. He helped me find a tour to Todos Santos for the next day and her also returned my camera to my hotel, when I inadvertently left it in the van.  I highly recommend the tour and the driver.  I would really appreciate it if you could pass a copy of this recommendation to the tour company and if you could also pass my thanks on to the driver. He was excellent. This was one of the tours I have taken in Los Cabos. I have visited the area 5 times!" - Inge from Vancouver, Canada

"Hola! We had an opportunity to take a snorkeling cruise on the Buccaneer Queen while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas. Our group of 7 had just a fantastic time. We were also celebrating our granddaughter, Danica's, 13th birthday that day. The crew could not have been more accommodating, especially Chico!!  What a gem you have in him; his personality really made the cruise memorable. The rest of the crew were outstanding!! Not only did we snorkel for the first time but had the good fortune of seeing a blue whale breaching. We will definitely telling any friends of ours who go to Cabos San Lucas to look into the Pirate cruise. Please pass on our complements to Chico and his crew from the Grampa that got on the stage with him and danced and the granddaughters who sang to everyone. We all had a most wonderful time!!! - Ted and Phyllis from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

"Thank you so much for the great service.  I didn’t know how easy it would be to get a refund on the tours we couldn’t make (I actually thought it would be much more of a hassle) but you have made it a very pleasant experience.  Our daughter is feeling better, now.........thanks very much for asking.  We will not hesitate to recommend your company to any of our friends and families that will be visiting Mexico.  Thanks again, Ines and Bertha!! - Donna from Powell River, California

" A quick note of thanks for all your help. We had a GREAT time.  Regrettably we did not catch the name of our shuttle driver .  He and Kevin really hit it off as they talked hunting. He also directed us to a fabulous restaurant for breakfast.  Also, Tomas was a wonderful guide on our ATV tour .  If we got back there, it would be great having him to ourselves for a little longer tour!!! Thanks again!  The sunset cruise was good too!! " - Deanna from Waseca, Minnesota

" Just wanted to thank you for a fantastic time in Cabo!!! Tomas was our ATV tour guide and did a fantastic job.  He recognized my riding ability was far superior to the rest of the group, who were having trouble keeping up.  Tomas took my wife and I on a separate tour and we had a blast.  What a great time.  I can't wait to come back to Cabo so we can do it again.  The whale watching tour was a pleasant surprise as well.  The staff was extremely friendly, breakfast was a nice surprise and the bar service was as good if not better than on the cruise ship. Thanks again for a great, memorable vacation! - Jason and Liz from Antioch, California

"We enjoyed the [ Candelaria ATV ] trip immensely.  We were treated to a fantastic day.  Juan was an excellent guide.  He was informative and interesting and was very professional in his approach.  He covered history, geography as well as plant and animal life.  Pretty awesome to see so many whales from such a picturesque location.  I would give a recommendation to anyone thinking of taking this activity. All the staff helped make it a most enjoyable day.  First class!" - Bruce from Langley, B.C. " Yesterday's tour was a pure delight! Luis is a superb guide and driver. The staff deserve extra kudos, especially yours for responding promptly to our email queries (you even adjusted the mini-sub at Cabo by an hour to ensure arrival timing issues with our ship at the port).  Staff were very well trained and extremely professional, so much so that we felt completely comfortable placing our lives (literally) in their hands. I am already planning another cruise with another friend for April 2012 and will be contacting Cabo San Lucas tours for 2 days at the island. It was amazing. Do not miss this excursion. I cannot wait to return!" - April from Florence, Oregon

" A Day at the Island " was Fantastic!!!  The best day of the shore excursions; relaxing, beautiful beaches, fun times, shade, great crew, snorkeling, lift preservers, free beer, bathrooms, short ride, music, food, pictures, kayaks...an awesome dog...Good times for sure!  Definite repeat next time I go down.  We had 2 toddlers and they had a ball. "Thank you so much for the Horseback/ATV combo . We sailed in to Cabo and booked the tour through your services. I want to let you know that the service was excellent! We were picked up in a very nice multi passenger vehicle with a professional driver. I felt very safe riding with them. Once at the ranch all the guides were very helpful and friendly. "The Dune Buggy tour was spectacular. We had a lot of fun. We slammed those machines all around. I ended up doing some wild stuff.  The food at the end of the tour was spectacular. The guides were confident, hard working, and motivated. They were funny and knowledgeable. They were fun to be around. They were nice and made the tour more worth while.  My machine worked great, went fast, had power, ran great. We had water on the trip. That helped. I would not do this tour in the summer though. No way.  This is a gritty tour. You will be sandy and dusty when it is all said and done. Do not wear nice clothes, get ready to have some fun!" - Benjamin from Foresthill, CA

" I just wanted to thank you for the fun trip our family had with Sierra Buggies !  This was one of the most fun things we have ever done on a family vacation.  You made all of us feel so special and appreciated as your guests.  Even our son, who is unable to walk, thinks this is one of the highlights of all of the great things he has done during various family trips.  Strapping his wheelchair to the top of the buggy and making sure he was seat belted and securely were no problem for you.  We love looking at the pictures on the DVD and talking about what a fantastic time we had.  This has really created a lifelong memory for our family. Thank you so much for your friendliness, attention to safety, and making sure we all had a great time!" - Sharon from Naperville, Illinois

"My family went on the La Isla excursion and it was one of the best days ever. The skipper and his assistant were absolutely fantastic. The food they fixed for lunch was excellent and the drinks fantastic. This excursion would have cost double if the cruise ship even offered it. Thanks for a wonderful time and if I ever get to Cabo again I will defiantly book another trip with you!" - George from Henderson, Nevada

"I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that your company made this trip really great.  The service I got was excellent and the excursions were safe and fun.  You were incredibly flexible and accommodating with lightening fast responses.  We booked the pirate cruise for Puerto Vallarta , and had a BLAST!  The crew was excellent and we saw a bunch of whales too.  My husband did the 2 tank scuba dive in Cabo and said it was excellent with excellent service.  Ironically, the only excursion we had trouble with was the one we booked through the cruise line! I would HIGHLY recommend your company to anyone traveling to Mexico!" - Stacie from Pepperel, Massachusetts

" I have two words for the Xtreme Canopy Tour   (zip lining)............Absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  this was the BEST PART of my vacation.  I can't wait until next year to do it again, and I sure hope the same guides are there because they were AWESOME!!!!   We had Diego, Miguel and Lil Mike!!!  They made you feel so comfortable with doing it even though I was scared and went with a guide...but Diego convinced me to after the 3rd one to do it myself and I am so glad he did, because it was so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The sandwiches were great after also.  They are such good guides and so polite.  This was the best excursion I have ever done and like I said can not wait to go back again next year.  I would recommend this one over any other one in Cabo, because these had 12 zip lines the other like 5 or 6.  We will see you next year, I promise you that!!!!" - Danny, Paige and Chad

" Your dune buggy tour is spectacular! It is fun. You can wear sandals, on an ATV you should be wearing shoes. But wear sandals that firmly attached to your feet. We had a lot of fun. We slammed those machines all around. I did not buy the insurance and I almost paid for it. If I made more money, perhaps I would get the insurance but I was confidence in my driving ability and I was with my mother so I did not think I would be going crazy all over the place. I ended up doing some wild stuff nevertheless!  The food at the end of the tour was spectacular! Do not wear nice clothes, get ready to have some fun as well!" - Ben

"I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that your company made this trip really great.  The service I got was excellent and the excursions were safe and fun.  You were incredibly flexible and accommodating with lightening fast responses. We booked the pirate cruise for Puerto Vallarta, and had a BLAST!  The crew was excellent and we saw a bunch of whales too.  My husband did the 2 tank scuba dive in Cabo and said it was excellent with excellent service.  Ironically, the only excursion we had trouble with was the one we booked through the cruise line!  I would HIGHLY recommend your company to anyone traveling to Mexico!" - Stacie from Pepperell, Massachusetts

"I couldn’t be more pleased with the transfer service you provided. At the airport the driver was easily identifiable and dressed as described, orange shirt with blue slacks. The van was very comfortable and roomy, not like the taxi vans. The return trip was just as pleasant, the driver was on time and friendly and the van was once again large, roomy and comfortable. Thanks so much!" - Gene from Saratoga, California

"Thank you so much for a wonderful trip to and from the airport this week (Hilton Cabo) for 9 gaggling girls from Dallas Texas (Breedlove Party) - it could NOT have run any smoother.  You staff is professional and so courteous.  This was our first trip to Cabo as a group and we are coming back every year and using you guys for transportation !!!  All the best for a wonderful year! - Jeanine from Plano, Texas

"My 6 year old daughter and I went on the Migrino Beach horseback ride .  Our guides name was Channo.  It was my daughter’s first ride and Chano was wonderful with her.  Thank you so much for making the experience extremely memorable for both of us!" -   Paulene from Orange, California

"Traveling to a new country for me can be very scary and nerve racking, but this trip was fabulous.  I want to thank you for taking care of our shuttle needs from the Airport to our Hotel. It went off without a hitch. Our plane arrived a little late and we were worried that, that was going to be a start of bad things to happen. It appeared to not be a problem at all. The driver was there waiting on us, along with two other couples. He was very professional and polite. He got us and the other two couples where we needed to be safe and sound. The driver for the trip back to the airport was also right on time and very professional and polite. We can’t thank you enough. This sure took a lot of our worries off of us. Feel free to share my comments to others as a recommendation. We will be sure to look you up for our next trip!" - Kirk from Carrollton, Texas

"Everything about your ATV tour and company was first rate.  I would recommend this tour and company to anyone.  The best part was our “free-time” to ride along the sand dunes at the beach.  Our first thought was 1 ½ hours seemed long to be on our own, but the time flew by. As for your company’s service, first rate too.  All vouchers were honored and received via email in a timely manner.  We will use your company’s services again!" - Ronald from San Diego, California

"I just wanted to provide some feedback regarding my two days fly fishing with you. I had a great time and had the thrill of a lifetime by catching several Dorado and Marlin on a fly. I also has several good shots at Rooster fish but I missed them. My guide Roberto, did an excellent job; he worked very hard to give me the best opportunity to catch fish possible. I would highly recommend this tour and I plan on fishing with you again on my next trip to Cabo! - Daniel from Golden, Colorado

"Hello, I just wanted to write a letter of thanks for locating my bag so fast from one of your shuttles . Zeida and Alana were very helpful and kind on the phone when i was extremely stressed out and I appreciate their hard work. I come here every year and have many family members who own places at Hacienda Encantada and I will recommend this company to everyone! Thanks Again!" - Kate from Roseville, California

"Hola, my name is Rodney. I used your airport transfer service for the first time this year for our party of six and want to commend you on the best, easiest service I've ever had in Cabo. I just wanted to let you know that I almost got sucked in by the Timeshare folks upon our arrival. We've been coming to Cabo every year, at least once, since 2001. When we arrived I had my reservation in hand as we exited customs. Just prior to exiting the terminal someone said to me "hey, that's us". They pulled me over to a booth, took my reservation confirmation and started to look at some papers. I, being a smoker, asked him how long it was going to be as I hadn't had a cigarette for about 6 hours. He offered to have someone take us to the smoking area (outside), I grabbed my reservation back and then he got someone to escort us just outside the terminal where I could smoke. With the construction walls up I couldn't see out towards the road. I got real suspicious with this and remembering your instructions I started to walk out of the construction boundary and then I found your rep. I went back to where my wife was with the person that had escorted us out and told her what was up and told him to get lost.  I consider myself a fairly well seasoned Cabo traveler, but still they almost got me!  We're coming back in April and will definitely use you again!" - Rodney from Alamogordo, NM

"Excellent service! Very professional staff & transportation . We were more than an hour late on arrival, and they were there. Also there to transport us back to the airport 10 minutes ahead of schedule. Cannot say enough about this service. Very much worth the money. No need to be hassled at the airport...go with this service. Other family members rented a car and regretted the expense!" - Mike & Carla from Iowa Falls, Iowa

"I would like to tell you how VERY satisfied I was with your transfer services.  Your drivers were knowledgeable, kind and on time. We had two different drivers both were excellent, however our Airport to Hotel guy was fantastic.  So funny he made the misery of getting through the Cabo airport disappear with his humor and conversation. I am a travel consultant and would highly recommend your company for any transfers or tours for my clients. Please pass these comments onto our drivers and feel free to use this statement as a recommendation for your company GREAT JOB!  Thanks very much! - Dotti from Camarillo, California

"Thank you so much Magda! You have made this process so easy for me. Say thank you as well to the wonderful lady who I spoke with when I made the reservation. She was very patient with me. I will be sure to recommend your company to everyone I know!" - Anita from Sun City, Arizona

"I wanted to thank you all for the great time I had in Cabo San Lucas.  I used your service during my full stay in Cabo.  I used your airport transportation service, as well as your parasailing , snorkeling and horseback riding tours.  I had a wonderful time.  The service was outstanding.  Each tour was much more than I expected.  The prices were wonderful too!  I won't fail to recommend your company to all my friends and family visiting the area.  You all made my vacation a memory to treasure!" - Tee from Memphis, Tennessee

" I was pleasantly surprised by the service and professionalism exhibited by your airport transfer provider. I went to Cabo alone, with plans to meet up with a group of friends. I expected that they would have already left the airport by the time I got there, so I made reservations with you for my airport transfers. When I arrived, however, my group was still at the airport waiting for me, so I did not use my reserved spot but split an airport shuttle with my friends. This was my first mistake. The shuttle offered at the airport was in a beat-up old van with very limited AC power and a driver that would not leave the airport until we filled up the van. Basically, we had to wait for one additional passenger before we could leave. After spending an hour standing in line for Customs, I was none too happy about this. However, no one informed the passengers that the Taxi Union has a strong hold on this city and that if you do not buy a round-trip ticket at the airport for transportation, you will be required to call a cab for your return trip ($32 USD from the Westin). When I realized this on the day prior to my departure, I called you and asked you if you would honor my receipt even though I had not secured a voucher upon transport from the airport. Your representative was very kind and said that because I had purchased a round-trip ticket all I needed to do was present my receipt to the driver and I would be taken back to the airport. I was told the driver would pick me up at 9:25 a.m. and that the phone agent would send an email to confirm with the dispatcher. I was leery, so I called back the next morning (the day of my departure) and was told by a new phone agent that the original agent I spoke with had sent an email and it had been confirmed. The driver showed up in a beautiful Suburban at 9:30 a.m. The seats were plush, the AC worked, the driver was polite and professional, and the company I shared on the transport were very nice. And, as more proof that Cabo San Lucas Tours is the way to go, the people in the Suburban with me were dual citizens of Mexico and the US, and they said they never use any other transport. Thank you CSL Tours! - Cara from US

"Just a quick note to let you know this was me and my husbands first time to Cabo.  We were not sure of what activities we wanted to do and then we saw your brochure for the 4x4 safari tour .  Our guides name was Chica and the driver was Miguel.  What a FANTASTIC time we had.  Chica was awesome.  He translated the whole tour in English and then in Spanish.  It was very interactive, informative and most of all fun.  We met some great people on the tour and had the time of our life.  Thanks Chica and Miguel for a different kind of tour.  We have never experienced a tour like this before.  When we come back next year we will look you guys up!" - Allan and Linda from Loma Rica, CA "We had such a great time on your atv tour through the rural parts of Cabo.  We especially loved taking a lunch break at the beach.  It was so serene and the lunch was delicious!  We would definitely do it again on our next visit!" - Kathlyn from Corona, CA

"Hi Team, I wanted to write to tell you what a fantastic time we had going sailing on your Hunter 28'  on Friday. Gus and Rachel were really nice to us!  We were treated like family and really enjoyed the sail! Thank you for making our time in Cabo one to remember!  By the way - the food and the service were unexpected and fabulous!  I would recommend this venue to anyone - especially if you love to sail and want to see Cabo from a different perspective!" - Craig from Tucson, Arizona

"Thank you so much for the incredibly easy excursion events that we have signed up for.  We have had this time share for years but never realized the fun we could have had.  Looking forward to all our fun times thanks to your website!" - Tish from Rancho Santa Fe, California

"My family and I just returned from Cabo San Lucas and used your airport transfer service. Great job, wonderful driver and a fun way to start our yearly trek to Cabo. Look forward to using you guys again! Thanks!" - Wayne from Dallas, Texas

"We recently returned from our Cabo trip and would like to thank you for your help with airport transports and the tours.  First off, I should have read your note more closely about arriving at the airport and being mobbed by "fake transport" people.  They looked official, took our luggage and wanted to "confirm" our transportation to the hotel.  After arguing for 15 minutes, we finally exited the airport to find your ground transportation personnel in navy pants. I am so glad you gave us specific clothing descriptions, if only we had exited the airport sooner, we wouldn't have had to argue so long!   The Xtreme Canopy Tour was excellent.  The entire team was all about fun, safety, enjoyment and new experiences.  My husband and daughter (22) had a great time as did I, although my fear level was greater than I expected.  But I soon got over that and loved the views, the experience and the rappelling. Casey at Baja Wild was great too.  We had a good time kayaking to Lover's Beach, Land's end and the Arch. Thanks again for providing great directions, service and support!" - Judy from Grand Rapids, Michigan

"My Wife and I just returned from our Cruise to Cabo.  We did the Candelaria ATV tour and we had a fantastic time.  Our guide was Thomas he was great and showed us a good time.  Everyone that we encountered on this tour was really good to us.  We had a lot of fun and would recommend this tour to anyone!" - John from Altoona, Pennsylvania

"We used your airport transportation 1/25 and again 2/28 to/from our Cabo del Sol home. Great service! We are recommending you to friends who are coming to Cabo 3/15 and other friends early April! We'll be back soon too and will definitely contact you again for a ride. Thanks for providing a great service. Very much appreciated. Thanks!!" -  Joyce from Greensboro, Georgia

"We just wanted to let you know we had an amazing time doing the Wild Canyon zip tour!  Our guides were fantastic, the zipline was incredible and the beer at the bar afterward was nice and cold. THE BEST excursion we've ever done! Thanks!" - Dana and Jeff from Gainesville, Florida

"I just had the most pleasant experience with one of your employees named Wanda.  I couldn't get my reservation to go through online, so I called the toll-free number and reached Wanda.  She offered to make the reservation for me, which she did.  I have a cousin who owns a timeshare at the Pueblo Bonito Rose, and they come down every year.  I'm definitely going to recommend that they use your company.  Please thank Wanda for her help, and I commend your company for having such a thoughtful and helpful person.  A lot of companies don't realize the importance of "service with a smile."  I'm glad to see that you are not one of those companies.  Thank you, again!" - Page from Durham, North Carolina

"We took the 4x4 Desert Safari tour while we were in Los Cabo 2 weeks ago and it was great!  Hannibal, our guide, was enthusiastic, interesting, entertaining and made the whole experience something special.  The desert experience was fascinating and the tequila tasting was really fun but the meal outstanding. Keep up the good work and say hola to Hannibal!" - Mike from California

" Hi Cabo San Lucas Tours! We arrived at Cabo and our driver was very pleasant and we were impressed by his service, cleanliness of the van and we loved the water bottles. Thank you. we just wanted to let you know how it went!" - Teresa from Stillwater, MN

"My girlfriend and I stayed a week in Cabo at a local hotel. I signed us up for the Xtreme Canopy Tour on-line and really had no idea what it was going to be like. I'm very afraid of heights - but we wanted to try something new. The transportation for this tour arrived at our hotel to pick us up right on time.  O.M.G. This was one of the highlights of our ENTIRE TRIP! I didn't think that I had signed us up for the repelling - but I guess I had and it truly turned out to be an incredibly wonderful experience.  The crew that works there are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful - they COMPLETELY take care of you. I cannot stress how easy and comfortable they made everyone feel doing this excursion. If you have never done zip-lining or repelling - even if you are petrified of heights like myself - this is a wonderful opportunity to try something new. These guys make the zip-lining and repelling look so incredibly easy, they check and double-check all your equipment and connection - they completely set you at ease.  Our Extreme Canopy Tour was definitely one of THE most fun and memorable experiences of this trip. Thank you all so very much for making this so enjoyable for us!" - Michael & Barbie from Spokane, WA .

"Kudos to a great tour company!  We used Cabo San Lucas Tours at both our Cabo and Ensenada cruise stops and in both cases, I can’t say enough about your wonderful crew!  In Ensenada we were an hour late for the tour because of the time change (we didn’t know of the time change until we were debarking).  We took a taxi to your location for the Extreme Zip Line canopy tour and your staff was wonderful about incorporating us into the next group and making sure we got back to the ship on time.  Diego and Will were fantastic guides and a lot of fun.  Everyone went overboard to make sure make our experience memorable.  In Ensenada we took your ATV adventure up to the mountains.  Isreal was a great guide and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.  I’ve traveled all over the world, and know how some tour companies work, but this is my fourth time with your company.  I keep coming back because you’re safety is impeccable, your prices exceptional, and the team you have working for you in each location is the best.  Each time we got back to the cruise ship, everyone wanted to hear about our adventures.  We were the envy of the table!  My daughter and her boyfriend are coming in January – I’ve made sure they take Cabo San Lucas canopy and ATV adventure tours!  Thanks again for a great time!" -  Linda from San Diego, California

"First of all, I would like to thank you for the follow up calls on the day our tour was scheduled. Unfortunately, we missed our tour due to our cruise line misleading us with our arrival time. Anyhow, my sister as well as me booked with your company since you were a featured segment in Giada's Weekend Getaways . I booked the tandem parasailing for her family and they had a great time. The boat was waiting for her, they even made room for my sister-in-law to be a passenger at the very last minute. Wow, it made me jealous but I'm glad it worked for her. So unfortunately I did not get a chance to try your services but I do appreciate the calls that were made when we were not at the pick up location and your attempts to reach us.  I hope that next time I'm in Cabo and not via a Cruise line, I will look up your company again!" - Rosaura from Anaheim, California

"I just returned from Los Cabos in January and had booked a trip online with you . It was a city tour of San Jose and Los Cabos. The driver was awesome, we had a great time and I just wanted to let you know that I  really appreciated the service. I am a travel agent and will not hesitate to use your services as I found the staff was great! We were picked up at the Riu Santa Fe promptly and  kudos to the  tour operator! Thanks again!" - Wendy from Manitoba, Canada

"Just a quick note to let you know how happy we were with our recent experience on one of your tour. My wife and I were in Cabo last week on the Carnival "Pride". Took the Santa Maria Cove excursion. Had a great time mostly  because of your wonderful Staff, Very entertaining and friendly and courteous, especially Mr. Chavez. We'll be back as soon as possible and will tell all of our friends. Hope to See you soon. Thank You again!" - Wayne & Toni from Paso Robles, California

"Just got back from Cabo and we had a great time.  Your services were great!! We really felt special with the van already waiting exclusively for us 6 girls, because it was a bit intimidating with the those timeshare guys trying to make us sign for the tours and presentations...but, we didn't waste any time with them, like I read in your instructions... just go outside.  Your instructions were very helpful.... Again, Thanks!" - Nancy from Southgate, California

"You guys are GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the quick, helpful and efficient service.  My thanks especially to Tasha, who went above and beyond the call of duty to get this all together for us on short notice!" - Mike from Miller Place, New York

"Just wanted to let you know of our positive experience with our local snorkeling adventure trip that we had booked through your company last week...  It was easy finding the diving shop at the Hotel Tesoro.  Carlos and his helpers were very friendly and helpful in getting us fitted, accommodating our requests and helping us to get some lunch boxes.  We had a nice time snorkeling and saw much marine life.  After spending some time on lover's beach, the boat picked us up and gave us a tour of the surrounding area.  We were also able to rinse off using their fresh water shower at the back of their store which helped us feel less sticky as we shopped the remainder of the afternoon." - Keith from San Ramon, California

"I just wanted to say thank you for all you all did for my son and I on our trip to Cabo San Lucas. The dive trips were great and the people that we dealt with were very nice and very professional. We will definitely book any of our future trips with you. The in-town people were just great as were the folks out at Cabo Pulmo . Anyway thank you again." - Bill from USA.

"I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful time that we had when we went on our Mexican Riviera cruise. The ship offerings were expensive and not that appropriate for my husband and me with our handicaps. I talked with Maricela, and she was so helpful in finding us tours that would work with our port schedules.  Your Dive Shop in Cabo San Lucas provided us with a great snorkeling tour , and we got an unexpected ride to see a sea lion colony. In Mazatlan, we loved our tour guide and saw lots of the city. The only complaint I would have is that we stopped at an old restored home that was a gift shop. I wanted to buy a coin purse, and when I gave the lady a $20 bill, she gave me pesos for change. I didn't want Mexican money, as I was getting right back on the ship and had found that almost everyone else took American money. I felt that anyone who is a regular stop for tour buses should keep some American money on hand. Just a small glitch in an otherwise wonderful day.  The absolute best was the last - our Pegaso Chartering whale watching tour. The sailboat was lovely and the guides were fast at spotting whales. They kept us in drinks all day, and they served a yummy lunch. We plan to take the same cruise in 2009 and hope we can go with Pegaso again.  Again, thank you for all your help in making our vacation the best ever!" - Leslie from the U.S.A.

"Hi CSL Tours!  We wish to thank you for your excellent service in both running a fine tour for my children (Jetski/snorkel) and for handling our cancellation (Deluxe shopping and city tour). We had to cancel due to the fact the tour ended AFTER our cruise departed!!  Our credit card was promptly credited, pleasantly on your part!  My kids had a blast on the Jetski tour.  The people were a pleasure to deal with and the kids felt safe and had fun.  Thanks again!  WE will certainly recommend you to our friends who are headed your way!" -  Gary and Marilyn from Morton Grove, Illinois

"I just wanted to let you know that our tour was WONDERFUL!!! Thank you so much for accommodating us when we had to change our tour time.  Our Tour Guide Umberto was OUTSTANDING! He was extremely courteous and gave us an excellent and very fun tour. He also made it a priority to get us back to our ship on time by using his own car to shuttle us back to the port. We were very impressed with the service and caring shown to us by Umberto.  I will most definitely recommend booking tours thru Cabo San Lucas Tours .  Thank you for helping us make the most of our short time in Cabo. We loved it there and can't wait to go back someday soon.  Much thanks!" - Angela and Sergio from San Diego, California

"Hola! We had such a great time on our tour. We had two vans and we had the two Davids for our drivers.  They we great and so helpful.   We will recommend them to all our friends. Thanks again!" - Linda from Canyon Lake, California

"Hi, my name is Christina and I booked a whale watching tour through you.  We just got back from our cruise, and the whale watching tour was excellent!  The ride was exciting and seeing the whales was awesome.  I just wanted to thank you and hope to do your tour again.  Thanks!" - Christina from U.S.A.

"I just wanted to get back to you and say that the trip was great, and I wanted to let you know that the snorkeling was especially nice; Rodrigo is a great captain & tour guide - we even got to do some free whale watching on the way back to the marina. Please let others know that this is a great operation.  I went scuba diving with Manta (3 days), since I didn't know about you at the time, but I will check that out next time!" - Terry from San Francisco, California

"My husband and I really enjoyed our trip from Cabo San Lucas to Magdalena Bay . Luis Aguilar and Elias Bautista were excellent. They made our trip great. We enjoyed them very much. We found their driving to be very safe and their friendliness and professional attitude to really enhanced the whole experience.  We will definitely tell all of our friends about this tour. Both of these men should be very much appreciated and compensated accordingly for the fine tour they provided!" - Ed from Centennial, Colorado

"You're services were great.  Our tours were as promised and on time...and the refund was actually paid without a hassle (other companies should be learning from you).  In return, Cabo San Lucas Tours will be the place I will recommend to anyone going to Cabo.  This is what good customer service is all about.  Thanks again!" - Mike from San Antonio, Texas

"I just want to tell you how  much my husband and I enjoyed the ATV and the horses back ride with the two young men that were our guides, they were out of this world, they were very polite willing to help us anytime we needed it, willing to take all kinds of pictures; I just want to send this email and just thank you for your website thank you for all your effort your guys it was always been my dream to run a horse in the waves with a beautiful beach behind me" - Georgia

"Our first stop was Cabo. Before we left, I'd booked a private 3-hour tour through Johann & Sandra's tours . Our guide met us at the dock with a card with our name on it. He asked a few general questions about what we wanted to do, and then tailored a wonderful trip around our interests. We spent most of the time in San Jose de los Cabos. It was beautiful! We stopped at the glass factory on the way, and our group of 6 had fun watching the factory owner make an eagle. For lunch, we asked our guide to recommend a restaurant with authentic Mexican food, and he took us to a little restaurant with the most fantastic food--my husband spent the rest of the cruise trying to figure out the recipe for a chicken dish he had there.  - Cruise Critic Forums

"I like to begin by giving some tips on airport transfers and excursions. I did some research prior to my trip and found a very reliable and awesome agency where I booked most of my excursions and airport transfers. You could go on their website which is called cabo san lucas tours and look at all the things that they offer. I booked my airport transfers with them and since I always wanted to go scuba diving I decided that I wanted to get certified in Cabos where the water is warm...so I booked my four days certification with them and boy I tell you it was awesome. I highly recommend it if you like snorkeling. Anyway, when we arrived at the airport we got swamped by all kinds of people asking if we needed a taxi or if we had our vouchers but I was warned by Cabo San Lucas Tours to only look for the person holding the sign that said GREYLINE. At first my husband was almost lured but I insisted that the person waiting for us was outside the airport with a sign and I was right....there he was with the sign and I could not have asked for anyone nicer..he took care of us right away." - TripAdvisor Reviews

"I also pre-booked the jungle tour with Cabo San Lucas Tours and they are reasonable with discounts and have a discount card to give you for purchase discounts in town. This means we do not have to pay or carry cash just our voucher.  I booked an ATV tour , Jungle Cruise and our ground transportation and a glass bottom boat through www.cabosanlucastours.net ." - TripAdvisor Reviews

"We arrived in Cabo San Lucas on July 8th, 2007 to beautiful weather, cooler than at home. We had pre-booked a shuttle through Cabo San Lucas Tours , with Grayline and they were waiting diligently as our plane had been delayed about an hour. We were off with one other couple and one stop before we arrived at Playa Grande...My son was scheduled for a 9 am ATV ride with Salto Tours and he had missed his ride as he was 15 min. late getting to the lobby but the concierge helped him to reschedule the trips we had pre-booked with Cabo San Lucas Tours and he went later that day. He said that the ride was "Frickin' Awesome" They took the Migrino Beach Tour with Salto and there was only a couple other guys so he felt that they got a special ride and rode through a town where there was a 118 year old resident and he had a great time on his tour!" - TripAdvisor Forums

"I booked a shuttle to and from the airport the day before I left through Cabo San Lucas Tours - easy(you can google it), at a good price- about $28 per person to and FROM the airport. Very safe. I read that the taxis were pricey." - TripAdvisor Reviews

"We also plan a paid tour to snorkel at Cabo Pulmo (through Cabo San Lucas Tours ) as it's 2 hours away from the hotel area - down a road that is not advised with a rental car (although people do actually do it). We rather sit back and enjoy the ride and have someone drive the 2 hours it takes to go and the other 2 hours to come back. It’s a 9-hour tour so it’s a full day of adventure and well worth the money...Yes it is Cabo San Lucas Tours : 9 Hours / 7AM-4PM / $76.50 and the ride from Cabo San Lucas hotels is 2 hours each way. Sounds like a great deal for a full day of fun without the hassle of driving." - TripAdvisor Forums

"I highly reccommend ocean riders. We booked them through www.cabosanlucastours.net . We did a whale watching excursion in a zodiac. The boat is a blast, sit towards the front if you go. We did not see whales, but lots of dolphins, including a pod of 100-200 with three to four different types feeding on tuna. The tuna were feeding on flying fish, it was the coolest thing we have ever seen. I felt like we were in a National Geographic movie. The boat ride alone is worth the excursion!" - TripAdvisor Forums

"We were there mid december and used ocean riders . They have a zodiac that they take you out on and although we missed the whales that day the boat ride was a blast and we got into several pods of dolphins. The last pod we found were feeding on Tuna. The flying fish were jumping out of the water and the tuna eating them. The tuna were jumping and the dolphins were eating them. We were surrounded by at least 100-200 dolphins and several varieties. Some in our group were lucky enough to reach over the side and touch dolphins. There were some spinner dolphins that put on quite a show. It was absolutely amazing and Victor our Captain did a great job. They felt badly about not seeing whales and he had a real good track record. We all agreed that we had a once in a lifetime experience with the dolphins. I highly reccommend ocean riders. I have been meaning to write a review. I am easily prone to motion sickness and didn't feel ill at all. The boat moves fast and it is just fun to be on the boat jumping waves. We booked through www.cabosanlucastours.net. Bring your cameras and video cameras as well. When you are out cruising they put all the cameras in a bag to prevent them from getting wet and then pull them out when you slow down to see the dolphins, whales. This was one of our most favorite excursions on our last cruise" - Cruise Critic Forums

"Take a look at this link : https://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Zodiac-Snorkeling-Tour.htm .  We are booked with them for May and they've been great to answer any questions that I had. They have a no port, no pay policy which is nice since Cabo is a tender port and can be impacted by rough seas. They were recommended by a friend at work who had used them previously." - Cruise Critic Forums

"We just returned from the Carnival Elation and wanted to provide a review for the Cabo San Lucas ATV tour https://www.cabosanlucastours.net/ATV-Tours.htm . We booked the Candelaria ATV ride ($63 pp) online about 2 weeks prior to our arrival. This turned out to be the best ATV ride we have ever been on and one of the best tours also. The booking was made online and an email reply within 24 hours that included a ticket page to print and an exact location to meet the tour driver. We were met on the pier as noted and were 15 min early. The time noted in the email was 9:30 local time, ship time was 8:30 so don't mess around and be one of the first off the ship. This will ensure you get the full 5 hours. We were then escorted to a van where they drove us (2) to the ATV place. We arrive right behind a ship group of 10-15 persons. The ship ride was $101 onboard the ship was for the Megrino beach ride that was $49.50 direct from the outfitter.  After signing a waiver we were offered a $15 pp ATV insurance against damage to the ATV which we declined. If no insurance is taken out then a credit card imprint must be left for possible damage to the ATV. As we were both good ATV riders we did not think it would be necessary. After the first long, narrow and steep down hill trail we were reconsidering the insurance decision. There was also a $3 pp fee on our ride to access a private ranch. It was worth the fee as this was the best part of the ride. After donning helmet, goggles and bandanna for dust, off we go in the opposite direction of the Carnival group.  We were up and down narrow mountain trails, just the 2 of us plus the guide. We came to a wide sandy river bottom and it was a wide open ride for 5 miles or so till we came to the trail back up the mountain to the village of Candelaria, we stop for photos along the way at a 100 year old church then at the local school. Along the way we passed free range goats, pigs, cows and one donkey. We went back along the same trail to the river bed again, wide open again where we head past where we came down and ended up on Megrino Beach. The Carnival group is long gone. We stop for a boxed lunch (provided) under a homemade cabana on top of one of the sand dunes.  Another family of 4 were on the beach on ATV's. They had a son (12) and daughter (14) who were each on their own ATV's. They had booked the Megrino Beach tour from the pier and would be joining up with us for the ride back to the ATV place and van ride back to town. We had the driver drop us off at the shopping district with plenty of time for some shopping and catch the tender back to the Elation. In summary it was the best ATV tour we have ever been on and one of the top 5 tours we had been on. After the booking fee, ranch access fee and a nice tip we still were under the ship price of $101!" - Cruise Critic Forums

"We did the Ocean Riders Zodiac Whale Watching through Cabo San Lucas Tours on January 17. It was AWESOME!! The zodiacs are equipped with a kind of tubular, cushioned seat with bars at the front and back for support. It kind of feels like riding a horse, especially when you're flying over the waves propelled by the two big motors and it's like galloping without as much rolling. There are a few bumps when you sail over big waves, but aside from that, it's just plain amazing, fast, and gorgeous.  We left the marina and headed past Lover's Beach. We saw sea lions, the arch, pirate's cave, and the Scooby head rock before heading out into more open water to look for whales. Once there, they opened up the motors and we flew across the water. I was enjoying it so much I didn't even care if we saw whales. Fortunately, though, we did! As our guide pointed out to us, though, the whales don't work for them, so they go to where they think they might find some and then just hope that they'll come and say 'hi'. We saw three on our outing, and they were so close, we actually felt the spray when they blew out their blow holes. It was amazing. I would LOVE to do it again!!" - CruiseCritic Forums

"Just back off Sapphire Princess, we booked www.cabosanlucastours.net AKA tours by Johann and Sandra for whale watching on the catamaran La Princesa . It was fantastic!!! Great service/food and open bar, plus we saw 43 whale sightings. We saved a ton of money by booking through Johann and Sandra, and I highly recommend the company!" - CruiseCritic Forums Member "Crazy4Cruising" from Phoenix, Arizona

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

tours in cabo san lucas reviews

Located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, in the state of Baja California Sur. It includes the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo connected by a twenty-mile Resort Corridor of beach-front properties and championship golf courses. The area was remote and rural until the late 20th century, when the Mexican government began to develop Cabo San Lucas for tourism, which then spread east to the municipal seat. The main attraction is without doubt the climate and geography, where desert meets the sea, along with an incredible number of fantastic Things to do in Cabo , Tours , Adventure Tours , sport fishing, resorts and golf. Tourism is by far the main economic activity with over four million visitors per year. Over 2 million visits are from the United States.

The growth in San Jose del Cabo has been regulated to outside of the town center, especially to the south where the beaches are, leaving the historic town center quiet and relatively unchanged. There are still cobblestone streets, adobe houses, jacaranda trees and a central square in front of a church that dates from the 1700s, where people still gather in the evening when it is cooler. A number of the large houses in the center date from the 19th century, and most of these have been converted into restaurants, art galleries and shops selling everything from fine handcrafts, silver, local gemstones and souvenirs. The art scene in the town is well-developed because of tourism and people with vacation homes. These shops carry high end paintings, sculptures in from traditional Mexican, Mexican contemporary and international artisans and artists. During the high season from October to May, these galleries stay open late into the night. Every Thursday the Cabo Art Walk event takes places where locals, artist and visitors meet in an unforgettable local Vibe Ambiance with Music, Dance, Food and Art. The town has resisted the addition of large shopping malls and chain stores. There is also some colonial era architecture as well, but this style has more in common with colonial towns to the north into the United States rather than the center and south of Mexico.

Safety in Los Cabos, San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas

Los Cabos, San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas are one of the safest Vacation Destinations in the world. The tourist areas are kept very safe with a local tourism police. Incidents with local tourists are virtually unknown. Of course, you have to take your day-to-day precautions as if you were at home, leave your values in a safety deposit box in your hotel and only take what’s really necessary for your Tour or Adventure outside of your hotel.

Los Cabos International Airport

The international Airport of Los Cabos is a very modern Airport with 3 Terminal Buildings, the national Terminal Building known as Terminal 1, the International arrival and departure Terminal known as the Terminal 2 Building and the FBO Private Airplane Terminal. During 2019 the Airport handled well over 5,000,000 arriving visitors to Los Cabos. The architect of Los Cabos International Airport's 1997 renovation and expansion was Mexican architect and great-grandson of Queen Isabella II of Spain, Manuel De Santiago-de Borbón González Bravo. He was a member of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites), and his lifetime architectural legacy to Mexico adds to 11,000,000 square meters (120,000,000 sq ft) built nationwide, including famous buildings and national sites, as well as important national restorations like the Mexican Houses of Congress Palace. The International Airport of Los Cabos, Airport Code SJD is the 5th most busy Airport in Mexico. Expansion plans are on the way for an additional Terminal Building and Landing Lane due to the impressive and constant growth of Los Cabos, well over 6000 Hotel Rooms in less than 3 years.

Transportation in Los Cabos

For your arrival and departure transportation the best way to go is a precontracted transportation service that is available in shared and private options. Getting your transportation prior to arrival has many benefits, including saving time, saving Money, safety and comfort. Another option is the Airport Taxi or shuttle Bus with extended waiting periods getting your ticket, waiting for a Bus to fill or a bit more expensive private taxi transportation option. For you way back to the Airport you will consider only a taxi. Due to local Government regulations the only service available for in destination transportation that has not been pre-contracted is the Local Taxi supported by the very strong taxi union. For a pre-contracted transportation services, you will find many options online, the difference in pricing is usually always combined with the quality and age of the vehicle, service and safety. Another option, already being in your Hotel and destination, is the not yet legalized Uber. Currently Uber and local taxi Unions and Government are in a kind of a “turf war”, the Uber will not be able to enter a Hotel and is circulating without local government permission, so in many Hotels you would need to leave the Hotel and get Your Uber in the street, if detected you run the risk of getting followed by the Union and local police and will be asked to get into the Taxi for your transportation without having a choice. In most Hotels a local Government inspector is checking the permits for transportation prior to entering the property. The local Bus System is not very developed and the buses are on the older side. The best, safest and smooth option is to consider pre-contracting your transportation needs prior to arrival.

What to bring along in clothing for your Vacation in Cabo?

Apart of your bathing suit it can be challenging to think about what to pack for your vacation in Los Cabos. We outline some recommendations for you to make sure you have everything packed to not miss an adventure or a tour during your Vacation.

Off Road Tours – We suggest to bring along clothing that can get dirty and dusty, old T-Shirts, long pants, closed sport shoes that also can get dirty. No designer clothing or shoes, expensive clothing. This is an adventure where you will get dirty and good clothing can get ruined.

Adventure Tours – For Horseback Riding and Camel Rides bring along long pants and closed shoes. For Zip Lining and Rappelling also closed shoes are necessary in addition to a T-Shirt that can get dirty, at times the Zip Lines drop water in combination with grease from the lines it can ruin a good Shirt.

Water and Boat Tours – bring along shoes that you can take off very easy and preferable with an anti-slip sole. In many Boats you may have to take off your shoes, in others you can leave them on but water can be on surfaces and make this slippery.

All Tours – consider extra clothing for changing after your adventures, Biodegradable Sunscreen, Bug Spray, Sunglasses and hats should be part of your packing.

Dining – Most resorts and restaurants ask for a casual dress code, closed shoes and no T-Shirts or Flip Flops. If you want to make sure not to be denied access, bring along some dress shoes and casual shirts and long pants.

We wish you a fantastic Vacation in Los Cabos!

I recently visited Cabo and wanted to take a tour of the city to see a little more than the resort where I was staying. This company was one of my options and I happily signed up. Our tour guide and driver was Jesus and he was friendly, knowledgeable and funny. He took us all over town and was even flexible to take us back early when the group was pooped and collectively voted to skip the shopping stop which was scheduled for the end. I feel like we had ample time to see all the sites and he did a good job of keeping track of everyone. It was well organized and fun!

TLDR: Cost for 2 adults Los Cabos Encounters - $208 (food included) Worth it! Todos Santos City Tour - $162 (food not included) Food is an additional $25. Kind of bland. -- Los Cabos Encounters: Best tour hands down with the amazing tour guide Charlie. He arrived at our hotel 10 mins early and was very friendly. Gave us a lot of historical information on the ride to pick up the other hotel guests. First stop was La Playita which is a beach area where you can take some pictures. We spent about 10 mins there while Charlie took our orders for the food. Next stop was the main plaza where we got a little history on pearls and did a raffle to win one at the Velvet Box. My fiancée won one. You have the option to turn it into a piece of wearable jewelry starting at $200. Then we went to the town square where we got to walk around for about 20-30 minutes. There are a lot of boutiques, ice cream, and a lot of other touristy things to do. The Blown glass factory was the highlight for me because of the affordable glass pieces. I bought a cute pink pipe for $25 and with the craftsmanship it would have cost probably double back in NY. We also got a fun little demonstration! The Glass bottom boat tour was cool. My advice is to sit on the captions side because you'll get better views. There were a lot of other tours and boats which made the water look crowded. The sea lions were out and about and the arch is beautiful. Tequila tasting was next! I didn't partake in this because I'm not a big drinker and I was slightly hungover, so my fiancée had my shots. He said they were good. I was shopping in the store since that's where the tasting is located. We ate lunch at the Stoplight and they had the chicken tacos. Probably one of the best meals I had my entire 6 nights here. I'm a very picky eater but the food was cooked and seasoned to perfection. It's worth taking a taxi if you're craving some tacos. Finally we went shopping at Cabo Bargins and with the tour we got 20% off. I bought a lot of stuff because the prices were good. A stone domino set can cost anywhere between $100 - $200. I was able to get it for $44 and it's beautifully made and pink. I was able to find a lot of stuff. Hotel drop off went smoothly and overall it was a good tour and because of that I went online the same day and booked the Todos Santos City Tour. Todos Santos City Tour: Our driver was late and we had to do a transfer. Also a lot of the things stated on the website we did not do. Our guide was Rene who was nice but on the first stop accidentally closed the van door on an elderly lady and her grandson. Not sure if this was supposed to be a joke but my fiancée opened the van door to let them out. Mexican blanket weavery was the first stop. The shop was vibrant and the blankets are made by hand. The items to buy start at $25. You can get these blankets cheaper in the town but I don't think those are hand made. The website states the following activities but we did not do them: Agricole Cooperative & the Regional Sweets Store. Next we went to Todos Los Santos which is a beautiful town where Hotel California is located in. Lots of shops and boutiques as well. They are very over priced so you can try to haggle. I was able to get some stickers for myself. We got a quick history of the mission. Another pearl demonstration (again at the Velvet box) with a raffle (we didn't win this time) and then lunch at the hotel California restaurant La Coronela. We didn't book this tour with a guide from the hotel. I did it online so we couldn't pick a food option. La Coronela had really good guac and flautas but our main dishes lacked flavor. The mole was okay but my enchilada were bland. I say skip it if you can or just get appetizers. The food was not worth the $78 we paid. Finally the end of the tour was at Cabo Bargins where I bought some more stuff. I enjoyed myself since it was the cheapest tour and I ended up buying a lot of stuff. I just wish the transportation time was better and the food had more flavor. If you have to only do one go with the cabo encounters and try to book the earliest appointment to avoid any potential delays with traffic.

Boat tour

So we had booked this as part of a larger excursion with our resort. We were to take a glass bottom boat to the Arch, do some snorkeling near Pelican Rock, then continue with tequila tasting & shopping. While I am a good swimmer & have snorkeled before, a storm had just come through & we were so concerned our trip would be cancelled. We get to the boat to discover we are the only ones on board since a cruise ship diverted due to the storm. Capt Lupe was very safety conscious & Daniel was great but the star of the show was Shaggy. This guy is a true expert. The water was choppy but his knowledge, corny jokes & attention to detail plus the 1:1 service made my snorkeling adventure perfect. He was patient, aware the rough water was a bit unnerving, took every precaution & went at my pace. I felt 100% safe, informed of each step & I guess pampered is a good word. While the water was not super clear, he found the fish & took a ton of pictures, which he sent to me as part of his fee. All in all, I would highly recommend Shaggy for anyone, especially those who want someone to take the time to make the day special, safe & fun! Shaggy, if you see this - Thank you!!

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the Party Cruise. We were picked up from our hotel, the transportation was included. Snacks were served (meats, cheese, crackers & fruit). There was an open bar & the bartenders were fast and efficient. The service and attentiveness of the staff was great. If they saw your drink getting low, they would ask to get you a refill. We were able to hang out and enjoy the amazing views, without having to worry about going back & forth to the bar. The music was jazz renditions of popular songs & old school R&B, the vibe was very chill. The sunset and the view of the arch & the shoreline were incredible. We would 100% recommend this cruise & definitely take it again. A big thank you to Wendy, who was very helpful when booking our cruise.

Booked this tour with our hotel and it did not disappoint. The driver Jose Lopez also know as JLo was fun and very informative. We started with early morning pick up 7:40am and got to the boat by 9am. On the way he explained land marks and different areas of San Lucas. Once on the boat we got to see the Arch and Lovers beach. We came during whale season and got to catch one in the distance. The boat wasn't actually all glass like the brochure promoted but had two little windows at the bottom that let us see some. Still a beautiful tour. We got back and Jose took us to the blow glass factory and we got to see their awesome work. After that we drove a bit in the city and to the tequila tasting. The tequila museum is tiny but the store big and overpriced. we didn't like the tequila or the prices so we left to find some food until our pick up at 3pm.

We booked our excursion via Viator and I was a satisfied customer. Our tour included The Arch of Cabo San Lucas, snorkel in Chileno Beach w/a box lunch, blown glass demonstration, and a tequila tasting. Our guides Giovanni and Shaggy were awesome and very friendly. They did a great job sharing the history of the area. We also had enough time to visit a few shops to buy souvenirs and food. My group separated from the tour so we could do the beach portion. They had chairs and an umbrella set up for us. It was so relaxing that we just enjoyed the beach and decided not to snorkel. Shaggy was very understanding and available if we changed our mind before our time was up. The box lunch was simple-turkey sandwich and other snacks that are commonly found in Mexico. I would have enjoyed a more authentic Mexican meal but I'm sure it's easier to keep it simple like they did. The tequila tasting was fun and tasty. The glass blown demonstration was amazing! It's a family own business and seeing them create the glass pieces was awesome.

He was an excellent tour guide and provided information about the tour in both English and Spanish. All in all, I was really impressed with this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting Cabo or San José, especially for the first time. You can book your tour online or even at your hotel with one of the reps. We ended up booking the tour at our hotel last minute and everything worked out perfectly. Highly recommended!

Did the whale watching tour 12-17-22.Got picked up at our resort and started our adventure. Our guide, Alfaro, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the areas. He took us to the marina and was with us the entire time. Jumped on the boat and headed out. Saw quite a few whales and many small pods of dolphins. After the boat tour, he was waiting for our group right at the dock. We jumped back into the van and headed to the glassblowing factory for a very exciting demonstration. We even purchased a few pieces while there. They are very beautiful. We left there and headed back to town for a tequila tasting. Yet again, another great stop. Tried about 6 different types of tequila, all quite good. We were then given time to ourselves for free time to shop, eat or whatever we wanted to do. Alfaro came back to the J&J Tequila Store for our pick-up and we headed back to out resort. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this tour to anyone. We also did the San Jose tour on 12-18-22. Got picked up at our resort and started our adventure. Our guide, Abelardo, was fantastic. He also was very knowledgeable about these areas. We stopped at the Pearl Boutique and they explained how pearls are made within the clams and how the different colors are formed. They even played a game for someone to win a pearl. It was really cool since I won the pearl. They valued it at about $140. We then walked across the street to the Chocolate Factory and enjoyed sample tasting and purchased chocolate covered espresso beans, very yummy. Our next stop was to the Ivan Guaderrama Art Galley. It is a must stop to see and experience. Also stopped at another gallery with fantastic photo pieces. Had free time after that for shopping. Our guide was with us the entire time until our free time for shopping. Got pick up and headed back to our resort. Yet again, had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Absolutely everything we asked for.... Somehow ended up on a tour with just our group, 5 total. Asked us if we wanted to stop to buy beer... we did. Enjoyed one on the beach after snorkeling where we saw sea lions and basically almost touched one. Totally professional and knowledgeable. Prob more expensive than you could find but absolutely tailored to your needs and hassle free. We could not have asked for better guides... Chucky and captain Johnathon!

Our family booked a private day trip that includes a Tequila tour, blow glass, pearl tour, and most importantly, the glass bottom boat tour. All of these tours are part of their upsell trying to get you to purchase from the vendor's products at an extreme cost, not to include that we had to pay for the tour itself. The kids were really excited to go on the glass boat tour to see the fishes. Unfortunately, we were not able to go because the water was too rough. I wished Esperanza's Tour would contact me ahead of time to let me know of the possible closure of the docks since it was also closed the day before due to rough water and see if I want to reschedule. Due to the situation, the tour person was nice and offered to take us around. Our kids are young and was not interested in sitting in the shuttle van all day due to the boat tour being cancelled. We cut the trip short and was dropped back at our resort after half of the day (we booked full day). Upon returning to the resort, I had tried to email and contract Esperanza's tour to see if we can even get a partial refund, at least for the glass bottom boat part of the tour. They did not respond to my emails or call me back and it's been 4 weeks since I've been back. I would not recommend this service. They will gladly take your money and not communicate to you. No sense of customer service. Take your money elsewhere if you can. We plan to be back in Cabo but definitely won't be booking Esperanza's Tour. $600 (with tips) tour went down the drain just for them to drive you around to their vendors upselling overpriced products and make you feel awkward for not making a purchase.

Cabo San Lucas Travel Guide

Airports & entry, planning tips, restaurants & eating out, nightlife & entertainment, getting around, accommodations, attractions.

There are many good reasons why TripAdvisor rated Cabo San Lucas one of the best tourist destinations in Mexico for 2019. Where else can you combine mountain views with a vibrant nightlife and then jump on a boat to watch whales in their natural environment?

But what you choose to do in this versatile city, locally known as Cabo, is entirely up to you. In the region surrounding Cabo, you can do anything from scuba diving in the Pacific Ocean to ziplining over the beautiful landscape of a national park.

Have you ever dreamed of watching whales in their natural environment? Whales are the most magnificent mammals on Earth, and from December to April, you can see them swimming off the coast of Cabo San Lucas.

Winter is the best time to whale watch in Cabo. Every year, approximately 10,000 humpback whales migrate through the Baja California Sur region.

A Cabo San Lucas whale watching tour is the best opportunity you will ever have to get up-close and personal with the largest mammals on the planet.

Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join one of the Cabo San Lucas tours and come face-to-face with Mother Nature’s most fascinating creatures.

It is in your best interest to carefully research the local conditions and attractions to ensure you get the most out of your stay in Cabo. This guide can help you start that journey of discovery.

Despite being a small city with a population of only 81,000 people, Cabo San Lucas boasts two international airports and is a frequent port of call for pleasure cruises.

If you’re flying into Cabo, you will most likely land at Los Cabos International Airport, which serves the wider metropolitan area of Cabo San Lucas and San José Del Cabo, which is known as Los Cabos.

This busy airport has three terminals and four concourses. Most international flights arrive at Terminal 2, but it is possible your flight could land at Terminal 1.

Inside the airport, you will find a good selection of shops and places to eat as well as ATMs and foreign exchange desks in the arrival areas.

However, note that most shops and the foreign exchange desks only operate from 9 am to 8 pm and the food outlets from 4 am to 7 pm. For free Wi-Fi, connect to the “GAP FREE” network, and charging outlets for your cellphone are located throughout the airport.

For a fee, you can experience the luxury of one of the first-class lounges. Several car rental agencies operate out of the airport.

It is possible but extremely unlikely your flight would arrive at Cabos San Lucas International Airport, which is a much smaller facility than Los Cabos International Airport and does not provide any amenities for tourists.

The downtown marina is a popular stop for all cruises along Mexico’s Riviera. If you arrive on a cruise ship, you should check to ensure your stay in Cabo will be long enough to allow you to enjoy tours like the ones above.

You deserve to have a really great time in Lanzarote, so here are 6 tips to help you make the most of your visit.

Tip #1: If You Want To Whale Watch, Go In Winter

Humpback whales and gray whales congregate in the Sea of Cortez from mid-December to mid-April each year and are often visible from the shore.

They arrive in this region after completing a 6,000-mile migration from Alaska so the pregnant cows can birth their calves in the warm waters near Cabo.

Humpback whales are especially curious about people, so they will frequently approach and circle boats that come close to their pods.

Tip #2: Take Your Time To Enjoy All The Attractions Of Los Cabos

Maybe you only want to watch the whales or laze on the beach, but there is a lot more to Cabo than sun and surf. Don’t miss the opportunity to climb a mountain, clamber around some ruins, or zipline across a desert.

And if it’s Nature you love, there are sea lions around El Arco and turtles below the old lighthouse. Check out the brief list of attractions below.

Tip #3: Book Tour Tickets In Advance, Especially During Winter

Because Cabo is a popular destination, you will find the tours and attractions busy, especially from October to May when the climate is ideal.

To ensure you don’t miss out, book in advance. This applies not only to the tours described above but any attractions. It would be a shame if you missed your opportunity to come face-to-face with a humpback whale because the tours were fully booked.

Because many tours offer a 24-hour-in-advance free cancellation, you take no financial risk booking before you fly. Ask about free cancellation before booking.

Tip #4: Book Your Ride From The Airport In Advance

The taxis at Los Cabos International Airport are expensive, especially if you’re headed to Cabo San Lucas, which is 30 miles away. However, some hotels operate a shuttle service.

If you haven’t yet arranged your hotel, look out for this feature. Alternatively, pre-booking a vehicle with an independent company, like All Ways Cabo Transportation or Cabo Shuttle Services, would be more affordable than jumping in a cab.

Tip #5: Buy Local Craft Souvenirs

If you want to buy your friends and relatives something unique, check out La Coyota. It’s a shopping village specializing in local arts and crafts, like local art, hand-crafted glass, Mexican ceramics, and hand-embroidered clothing.

Because Cabo San Lucas is a seaport, it’s only to be expected that many of the local foods are seafood based.

The fish tacos from the Baja California Peninsula are world-famous, and smoked marlin is especially popular in Los Cabos. Other popular foods include squid, crab, stingray, abalone, lobster, and shrimp, to name but a few.

An unusual marine dish is the Chocolate Clam (Almejas Chocolatas). The freshly harvested shellfish is covered in a locally-sourced herb called romerito and cooked on a stone bed.

You eat the herb as an aperitif while the clam is cooking. Another strangely named dish is Comida de Pobres (Food for the Poor), which is seafood soup, rice, and beans, eaten alongside corn flour tortillas.

Chicken tamales fajados, made with chicken, olives, raisins, and olive oil, and tamales de Guemes, also prepared with chicken or pork, are popular.

It is traditional to serve Damiana Liquor (brewed from the Damiana plant using sugar cane) or Clamato (a clam and tomato drink) with food.

Damiana Liquor is reputed to be an aphrodisiac and was originally used by the Guaycura Native Americans in their ritual ceremonies.

There are many popular restaurants around Cabo serving traditional foods, but one that stands out is The Office On The Beach, which you can find on Medano Beach.

This busy establishment offers traditional foods, like Mexican steaks, Baja-style shrimp, and burritos, especially for tourists, and is literally on the beach.

This famous restaurant was established in the 1970s before tourism began to flourish. As well as local food, it offers live entertainment in the evenings and a beautiful view.

However, because this restaurant specifically caters to tourists, you will find it expensive compared to other, less well-known food outlets.

Given that TripAdvisor rated Cabo San Lucas the 3 rd best tourist destination in Mexico for 2019, it’s not surprising to discover Cabo boasts a vibrant nightlife.

It also offers a wide variety of exciting activities, such as scuba diving, snorkeling, parasailing, boat charter, horse-riding, popular beaches, and, of course, whale-watching cruises.

There is even a bi-weekly, English-language newspaper called Gringo Gazette , which provides information about what’s going on for tourists.

If you love the clubbing scene, you’ve hit gold in Cabo. In this tiny city, you will find more nightclubs than you can visit in one holiday, including El Squid Roe, Hard Rock Café,

The Jungle Bar, Tiki Bar, Giggling Marlin, Pink Kitty, and the famous Cabo Wabo Cantina founded by Sammy Hagar, a former member of Van Halen. Note that the legal drinking age is 18! There’s a good reason Cabo San Lucas is dubbed Cabo San Loco.

However, if you prefer a quiet life, there are many late-night cafés and low-key bars for a relaxed ambiance and fun night.

Because most attractions are clustered around the downtown area, it’s easiest to get around on foot and take taxis to visit places further afield. However, taxis in Cabo are expensive.

If you plan to visit places outside of downtown, car-hire or local buses would be more economical. For something a little more adventurous, take a scenic water taxi from the marina to one of the beaches. The small local buses are super cheap,

Most tourists visiting Cabo stay in one of the hotels along the Los Cabos Corridor, which is a stretch of the southern coastline of the Baja California Peninsula between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.

The standard and cost of the hotels vary from the affordable Hyatt Place Los Cabos up to the plush Grand Velas Los Cabos, with its infinity pools, whirlpool tubs, and 8 restaurants.

Outside of the Los Cabos Corridor, a good number of hotels are scattered to the west of Cabo in Paraiso Escondido.

Many of the hotels with a reputation for being quiet and relaxing are found around there, like the adult-only Pueblo Bonita Pacifica Resort and Spa and the child-friendly Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort and Spa.

In the center of Cabo are several small and affordable, quiet hotels, like The Bungalows Hotel, which has only 16 rooms but is within walking distance of the marina and downtown.

If you love the sun, you’ll love Cabo, which averages over 350 days of sunshine every year. Realistically, all you need to worry about is using enough sunscreen.

The geographical position of Cabo on the end of the peninsular also means that during summer you’ll find the Sea of Cortez coastline and San José Del Cabo approximately 5 0 F warmer than the Pacific coastline and Cabo San Lucas.

The average temperature ranges from 64 0 F in January to 85 0 F in August. And if you plan on taking a dip in the Pacific Ocean or the Sea of Cortez, you’ll be delighted to hear the average water temperature ranges from a warm 71 0 F in February up to an impressive 85 0 F in September.

Cabo lacks the unpleasant tropical humidity of some other Mexican resorts because it enjoys an arid tropical desert climate.

However, it is north of other tourist hotspots so expect cool evenings and pack accordingly, especially during the winter months. Check the weather forecast before planning your trip because Cabo sometimes experiences hurricanes.

Hurricanes result in long periods of heavy rain, though the usual summer thunderstorms don’t come close enough to Cabo to bring rain.

The peak tourist season in Cabo is from October to May because the weather is neither too hot nor too cold and rain is rare.

The whales swimming in the Pacific Ocean are not the only attraction around Cabo San Lucas. Beyond the beautiful beaches and popular nightclubs, you will also find a range of natural and man-made attractions to tempt you away from the poolside.

The most famous landmark in Cabo is El Arco, a three-stories-tall sea arch formed by natural seawater erosion of the cliffs. El Arco de Cabo San Lucas stands on the end of a promontory know as Land’s End to the east of the marina.

This natural rock formation is so well known that its image is utilized in advertising by local businesses. Because it is scenic and frequented by sea lions, it has become a popular sightseeing spot.

The two popular beaches nearby are dubbed Lover’s Beach and Divorce Beach.

You can snap breathtaking, panoramic photographs of Los Cabos from the summit of Mount Solmar. Hiking to the top takes 30 minutes.

If you time yourself to arrive at sunset, you can take amazing photographs over the Pacific Ocean that your Instagram followers will love. The climb is steep but relatively easy. However, wear sensible shoes rather than sandals, because it can be dusty and rocky, and apply sunscreen and carry plenty of water.

Three miles from Cabo stands the abandoned lighthouse of El Faro de Cabo Falso (Lighthouse of the False Cape). This fascinating ruin may only be visited by foot, horseback, or in a 4×4 vehicle.

This guardian of the port of Cabo San Lucas was built in 1890 and protected ships from 1895 to 1961. The ruin stands on a base 500 feet above the sea, providing a spectacular view of the ocean and a shipwreck. Turtles lay eggs on the beach below.

But if an adrenaline rush is more your scene, look out for the many zipline adventures around the Los Cabos area, including the Superman Zipline, reputed to be Mexico’s fastest, highest, and longest zipline ride.

The Superman zips you 1,800 feet over the top of UNESCO monitored Boca de Sierra National Park.

Tours are available to many of the local attractions. Watch out for “Tours en Los Cabos” signs around the city.

20 Exciting Things To Do in Cabo San Lucas

T ravelers from around the world are drawn to the aquamarine waters and pleasant year-round temperatures of Cabo San Lucas. Unfortunately, it sometimes gets a bad rap because of it’s party reputation. And yes, it might be a bit more touristy than some other beach destinations like Puerto Vallarta or La Paz , but don’t count it out.

Cabo’s unique location surrounded by water, on the Baja Peninsula, makes it one of the best places to visit in Mexico. I’ve been traveling south of the border since I was 15 and fell in love with Cabo a long time ago. So, if you’re headed to Cabo then bookmark this list of the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas. It’s ideal for first timers, repeat visitors and even someone who’s only in town for a day on a cruise.

Things to do in Cabo San Lucas

1. visit land’s end.

One of the most recognizable places in North America is Land’s End and Cabo’s iconic Arch, or el Arco. You can see the Arch from most of the beaches and many of the hotels in Cabo but getting up close on a boat tour is definitely best.

Whether you prefer an organized tour on a catamaran or a smaller panga (boat) with one of the many guides offering tours on Medano Beach, getting to the Arch is just a short ride across the Sea of Cortez. This should be at the top of your best things to do in Cabo San Lucas list.

A boat tour to the Arch will take you along the stunning coastline of Land’s End and provide awesome views of the rugged cliffs and crystal-clear waters. Along the way, you might spot sea lions lounging on the rocks at the Reserva de Lobos Marinos and possibly even see whales breaching in the distance.

Want to see the Arch in a different way? Then book a kayak tour to the Arch or a glass-bottomed boat .

2. Stroll Lover’s Beach

The tip of the Baja Peninsula forms two of the most gorgeous beaches in Cabo San Lucas – Lover’s Beach and Divorce Beach. Because of Baja’s shape, Lover’s Beach, or Playa del Amor, faces the mainland of Cabo so it’s somewhat protected and calmer.

Divorce Beach, on the south side of the peninsula, faces the open waters of the Pacific with rougher surf and bigger waves. In fact, it it’s not already obvious, the two names come from the differences in the two beaches.

You can access both beaches on a boat tour and most of the Arch tours drop passengers off for a chance to explore Lover’s Beach. From there you can easily walk over to Divorce Beach. Just remember that swimming is not recommended on Divorce Beach because of the rough water and currents.

There are no vendors or facilities of any kind on the beach so if you want drinks or snacks or a towel to sit on, then bring it along. A drybag to keep your phone from getting wet or a backpack for your stuff also isn’t a bad idea. I like these towels or now you have a reason to purchase something local.

3. Go Deep Sea Fishing

I could list plenty of reasons why I’m not a huge fan of deep sea fishing but the main one is because it usually means getting up before the sun to get to your fishing spot. Not my idea of fun on a vacation.

However, turns out that deep sea fishing in the Pacific Ocean is one of the most amazing things to do in Cabo San Lucas. Even though it’s deep sea fishing, the tour we were on only went a few miles out so there was always land in sight and that was very reassuring.

Of course, the best part of the experience is the catch if you’re lucky. On our last trip, we not only reeled in mahi mahi but also a marlin. Cabo is known for sportfishing so you are almost guaranteed to catch something. And if you are lucky, you might just spot other sea life like turtles and whales.

4. Meet Pancho the Sea Lion

As you return to the marina from deep sea fishing, tell your captain you’d like to meet Pancho the sea lion. Pancho has become quite a celebrity in Cabo San Lucas.

He likes to greet the boats as they return with their catches because he knows they are good for a quick easy meal. Pancho jumps on the back of the boat for his handout. I suspect there is more than one Pancho but it’s still a fun thing to do in Cabo San Lucas.

5. Try Paddleboarding

Stand up paddle, or SUP, is a popular activity in Cabo San Lucas. With its (usually) calm, clear waters and stunning coastal scenery, Cabo is the perfect place to enjoy this fun water sport. SUP enthusiasts can paddle along the shoreline, admire the rock formations and interesting marine life.

If you’re a first-timer, the calm waters at Medano Beach are the ideal place to learn. Plus, it’s super convenient to rent a board from your hotel or a tour operator on the beach. Many of the resorts have protected, roped-off areas so you’ll feel comfortable and safely tucked away from boats and jet-skis.

Generally, rentals are available by the day or by the hour. However, if it’s your first time, I suggest starting with an hour to see how you like it. You can always extend your time or try again on another day.

6. Check Out San Jose de Cabo

For as much as Cabo San Lucas has a party vibe, its sister city, San Jose de Cabo, is the complete opposite. Quieter, more laid back and totally chill, it’s a different, welcome experience from the much livelier Cabo San Lucas.

Just a short drive, or bus ride over, San Jose del Cabo is about an hour away from Cabo San Lucas and 20 minutes from San Jose del Cabo Airport (SJD). You actually drive through when you arrive by airplane.

Get a taste of authentic Mexico culture in the colorful historic center and attend the weekly art walk focusing on local artists and vendors. Or check out some of the beachside hangouts or the marina for the day.

7. Set Sail on a Sunset Cruise

Some of the most incredible sunsets I’ve ever seen in my life have been in Baja. Experiencing a sunset on a boat makes a vacation in Cabo that more memorable a way to experience the end of the day. There are several tour companies that offer sunset cruises but Cabo Blue’s catamaran sail tour is one of a kind.

Instead of a bigger party type boat, the vibe on the catamaran is is more peaceful. Just a bunch of people drinking beer and watching the sunset. Many of the tour companies serve dinner but the Cabo Blue tour we chose was strictly appetizers that included ceviche and other snacks, served along icy cold Pacificos. It was the perfect way to end the day.

If you can only swing one tour in Cabo San Lucas then I recommend booking a sunset sail like this romantic one or this luxury yacht and chef dinner cruise . Sunset on the water is truly an unforgettable experience and one I would do again and again.

8. Get Off-Road

For a bit of off road excitement on your Cabo vacation, get the adrenaline flowing is with an ATV trip to the desert. The tours guide you through the surrounding desert landscapes and you’ll get a chance to see some of the rural parts of the city. Plus, terrific ocean views.

Most tour agencies offer half-day and full-day excursions with varying levels of difficulty and terrain. Some include a beach stop so you can cool off in the surf. Remember to check the reviews and policies on things like helmet use and insurance coverage. Dress appropriately for the activity and wear closed-toe shoes.

Julio, a local from Chilango Store Tours , took us swimming with whale sharks on our very first trip to Baja Sur, offers any kind of tours you could want in Cabo as well as in La Paz.

9. Relax at a Beach Club

If you came to Mexico to relax, there’s no better way to do that than by spending a day lounging by the ocean and having someone else serve the drinks. Medano Beach has several beach clubs where the only thing you have to do all day is pick out your chair and let someone else do the rest.

One of the more popular one is Mango Deck . Just know that some of their entertainment and events can be a bit bawdy. If that’s not your thing they do have some quieter areas and actually have a pretty good breakfast buffet.

Depending if you are visiting in high or low season, most beach clubs will give you a lounge chair for free as long as you eat and drink there. Understandably, they want to make sure it’s worth their while for you to take up space in their club, so there’s usually a minimum of two drinks, as well.

10. Experience Whale-Watching

Cabo San Lucas is known for the whale watching. During the winter months, primarily December to March, humpbacks, gray whales and other species, migrate to the warm waters surrounding the Baja Peninsula. During that time of the year it’s not unusual to see whales right from the shore but for the best views, book a whale watching tour.

Tours include knowledgeable guides who know where to go and will help you spot the whales, plus give information about their behavior and habitat. Tour operators provide everything you need to enhance the experience and some tours include food and drinks.

When looking for a tour, it’s important to choose a reputable and responsible operator that follows local regulations to minimize disturbance to the whales and their environment.

11. Chill at a Brewery

I usually reach for a Pacifico when I’m in Baja, or Mexico in general, but for those who have a more sophisticated taste, Cabo has a thriving craft beer scene, with a handful of local breweries serving delicious brews.

With its warm and sunny climate, Baja is ideal for growing hops and other fresh ingredients needed for beer making. And even though it’s the desert, there’s plenty of access to fresh water, which is essential for high-quality beer.

Baja Brewing Company is one of the most well known breweries in Cabo San Lucas, and offers a range of craft beers. Not to mention they provide some of the best views from the rooftop of their restaurant located in Cabo Villas on right on Medano Beach. Land’s End Brewing Company – love the name – and Yenekamu Brewing Co. are a couple of other breweries to try.

12. Play Golf

You might be surprised to find out that Cabo San Lucas is a golfer’s paradise and features a number of world-class golf courses in the area. The courses cater to all skill levels and are known for their gorgeous ocean views among the desert landscape.

In addition to the courses, many of the resorts often provide luxurious accommodations and top-notch amenities like spas, fine dining options and, depending on the location, access to beautiful beaches. If you choose not to overnight, several resorts offer golfing day passes.

Diamante Cabo San Lucas is one of the popular resorts. This property, located on the sand dunes along the southernmost tip of Cabo San Lucas, is most famous for featuring a top-100 ranked course co-designed by Tiger Woods.

13. Eat Delicious Tacos

Okay, it’s Mexico so you probably don’t need too much arm twisting to eat tacos. If you’re going to do it then Cabo is the place. For me, besides Mexico City , Baja rates second on the best taco list. Especially fish tacos. The best ones I’ve ever eaten have been in Cabo at Taco Gardenias .

This popular restaurant has been around for over 20 years and is known for serving delicious tacos. The menu features a variety of traditional tacos, with handmade tortillas and all the toppings like cilantro, onions and a variety of fresh salsas. Of course, you can get the always popular al pastor (spicy marinated pork) but it’s the fried fish and fried shrimp tacos.

Not a taco fan? Tacos Gardenias serves other Mexican specialties, including burritos, quesadillas and tostadas. And for more taco experiences, check out a food tour while in town.

14. Go Snorkeling

With its crystal-clear waters and marine life, Cabo San Lucas is ideal for snorkeling. Explore popular spots like Land’s End or Lover’s Beach, right in Cabo, or venture out a little further on the tourist corridor to Chileno Bay and Santa Maria Beach. Both of these beaches offer sheltered coves that provide calm waters ideal for snorkeling and first-timers.

There are plenty of tour companies that offer organized outings and packages, providing all the equipment you need or depending where you are staying, you can simply rent some equipment on your own and snorkel right from the beach.

15. Enjoy a Farm to Table Experience

Farm-to-table restaurants have become a popular way to experience local Baja products. The sunshine, fertile soil and mild climate allow for year-round cultivation of fresh fruits and vegetables, making Cabo the ideal destination for this type of dining due to the farms in the area.

The nearby Sea of Cortez provides plenty of fresh seafood so restaurants in the area can easily source high-quality, locally caught fish and incorporate them into their menus.

Los Tamarindos , a farm-to-table restaurant, located on a historic 17-acre farm in San Jose del Cabo offers you the opportunity to sample some of Baja’s freshest food.

16. Catch a Sunrise

We’ve already established that I don’t like getting up super early on vacation but getting up early for a Cabo sunrise is one exception to that rule.

Because of its geographical location and the unique natural shape of Baja, Cabo San Lucas is an excellent destination for sunrises. The east-facing coastline provides unobstructed views of the horizon, allowing for clear views during sunrise.

The way the light plays on the water and the reflection of the sun, the colors are some of the most vibrant colors I’ve even seen at sunrise. It is so vivid it looks like sunset! Totally worth it. And, you can always just go back to sleep afterwards.

18. Hang Out in the Cabo Marina

Cabo’s marina is a lot of fun and strolling its pedestrian boardwalk is one of the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas day or night. With countless shops, including the huge Puerto Paraiso shopping mall, and over 50 restaurants and bars, you can find just about whatever you want.

A couple of my favorite restaurants in the Cabo San Lucas marina are Lorenzillo’s, for its patio and lobster and La Galeria , with their fresh seafood menu and friendly staff. Be on the lookout for roving Mariachi bands to serenade you for the complete Mexico experience.

19. Try Tequila

Tequila wasn’t invented in Baja. Jalisco state, where Guadalajara is located, was the birth place of tequila. But as the national beverage of Mexico, most other destinations offer some kind of tequila tours or tastings.

And Cabo San Lucas is no exception. Santos Destilados , a liquor store in downtown hosts a tequila and Mexican spirits tasting and workshop. If you’ve never done a tequila class, now’s your chance. Most people equate tequila with shots but it’s so much more than that and I promise you will walk away with a new appreciation of this beverage.

During the tour you’ll pair 9 different beverages with traditional snacks and foods and learn the ins and outs of tequila making. And conveniently, the shop stocks all those beverages so you can take some home.

20. Take Day Trip to Todos Santos

Baja California Sur is perfect for road tripping and one of the most incredible day trips from Cabo San Lucas is to Todos Santos, a cute, laid back village about an hour north. Known for its picturesque streets, colorful buildings and the infamous Hotel California, Todos Santos couldn’t be any more different than Cabo.

Full of unique experiences and a chance to learn more about Mexican culture, Todos Santo’s interesting history can be seen in its historical landmarks, including the 18th-century Mission Santa Rosa and the plentiful art galleries found around town.

If you have your own car, don’t miss one of the most popular beaches in the area, Playa Los Cerritos. You can surf, swim, or simply relax and soak up the sun. And catch a gorgeous sunset.

Cabo San Lucas FAQ

What is Cabo San Lucas best known for?

Cabo San Lucas is known for Land’s End, its beaches and water activities. It also one of the best places in Mexico for sport fishing, hosting several tournaments and events year round.

Can you swim in the ocean in Cabo?

Yes you can but only at designated beaches and when the conditions permit swimming. Cabo San Lucas beaches are notorious for large waves and fierce currents. Remember, never turn your back to the ocean.

Final Thoughts on Things To Do in Cabo San Lucas

There are so many fun things to do in Cabo San Lucas. You could easily spend several weeks in part of Baja California Sur exploring the area. And for even more Cabo experiences, there’s also ziplining, skydiving and even camel rides. Cabo San Lucas is sure to have you busy from sunrise to sunset and every hour in between.

See you on the road!

Another shot shows Brooks Koepka holding his son, Crew, 11 months, on the ninth green, while wife Jena Sims laughs on the sidelines.

The couple tied the knot in June 2022 and welcomed their first child together nearly a year later in May 2023.
