Nashville is a traveler’s darling; a place to dance to live music, eat at award-winning restaurants, learn civil rights history—and spend an afternoon paddle boarding. For all the different reasons people come to Nashville, there’s a hotel with the right vibe. No longer a city of only generic places to sleep off a night at a honky-tonk , Nashville’s hotel scene now is part of the lure of the city, destinations in their own right. Many have music-themed packages (it’s more common than not to see a guitar in your room), original art by locals, and many of the city’s finest restaurants helmed by the city’s most talented chefs are located inside hotels.

Dream big: Custom leather boot-making experiences? A tour of a vintage guitar collection? Sun yourself at a private cabana? Check, check, and check. Impressive new openings mean existing hotels are constantly improving, adding more amenities, activities, and dishes from well-known chefs. These best hotels in Nashville are not just places you lay down in between trips to Broadway and the Ryman—read on to find out why.

W Nashville Arrow

If there is a see-and-be-seen hotel among Nashville’s hotel scene, it’s at the W. Its large lobby is designed for hanging out—in contrast to a trend toward lobby-less hotels—and as a result it feels like the central people-watching perch in the Gulch neighborhood. The hotel welcomes people in, not just hotel guests, for live music and yoga and to the large L-shaped pool (reservations required). Locals also flock here to eat at one of Chef Andrew Carmellini’s two restaurants and to grab a coffee hometown favorite Barista Parlor in the lobby. The central location is a prime homebase for shopping, eating, and drinking, close to the Station Inn, the Frist Art Museum, and 15 minutes from Lower Broadway and the Ryman Auditorium.

Kimpton Aertson Hotel Nashville interior lounge

Kimpton Aertson Hotel Arrow

Chic and trendy, the Kimpton Aerston is a breath of fresh air in Midtown's hotel scene, which for decades had been where Mom and Dad stayed for parents weekend, but not much else. For a boutique hotel near the in-demand Vanderbilt University campus, it's a steal. The on-site restaurant, Henley, is a draw for locals as well as guests, thanks to its attentive service, buttery-soft leather seats, extensive bourbon list, and thoughtful menu. Hotel walls are adorned with interesting contemporary art, but you’ll probably spend your time looking at the city views, which you can do from the open-air balcony off of your room.

1 Hotel Nashville Arrow

A stay at 1 Hotel Nashville is a sensory experience, from the tactile—with textured, reclaimed wood, and live plants on many surfaces—to the scent—which is closer to a field of wildflowers in the countryside than a busy city block in the heart of honky-tonk action. The Nashville branch of the 1 Hotel chain, which opened in 2022, is representative of the brand’s commitment to sustainability, in a way that is engaging but not spartan or schoolmarmish. Devote time to exploring some of these choices, such as the hourglass in the shower to create awareness about the length of time you leave the water running, and the hangers in the closet made from recycled wrapping paper. Like all proper Nashville hotels, 1 Hotel has a rooftop bar with a view; this one is surrounded in the hotel’s signature greenery, contributing to the feeling that country and city co-exist. And they do it on a plush bed with organic cotton sheets.

Southall Farm & Inn Arrow

Southall Farm and Inn feels all of the 25 miles away from the hubbub of Nashville’s neon-lit honkytonk scene. In fact, its 325 acres feel like a different world entirely. This bucolic setting is a sustainable oasis designed for your resort-style immersion experience. You’ll abandon your car on arrival and instead get around on foot, bike, ATV, or by staff-driven golf cart, allowing you to explore the property at a leisurely pace. Soak in the plunge pool, get centered in a sound bath, take the kids for a zipline, eat s’mores on the deck of your cottage, and never once leave the property. (Although, if you choose to, historic downtown Franklin is less than four miles away.) Amenities are designed to make the most of the land and preserve its natural beauty. Take time to notice the details, such as custom wallpaper, glazed clay plates, and freshly cut flowers.

Graduate Nashville Arrow

Travel should be fun and the Graduate knows that. They incorporated cheeky, quirky art elements and attractions throughout the moderately priced hotel near the Vanderbilt University campus. You can belt out your favorite karaoke tunes while being accompanied by an animatronic band at Cross-Eyed Critters or go to the rooftop and take a photo with a giant, pink chicken-wire bust of Dolly Parton. While some of the details may seem offbeat, the hotel takes making sure you get a good night’s rest seriously. Rooms are ample in size and comfortable, with well-appointed bedding and plush carpet to cushion your walk after a night on the town. For all the good-time-vacationers who stay here, rooms are adequately soundproof. They can party and you can sleep. Or vice versa.

The Russell Nashville

The Russell Arrow

The Russell is all about the wow factor. Formerly a 115-year-old church, the hotel retains many of the building's original elements, including a series of jaw-dropping stained glass windows. Bright, restored panes of glass play off modern décor and stylish new architectural elements. Each room is a different shape and size—such is the reality of retrofitting an old church into a new hotel. All of the rooms have good light, smartly designed charging stations in the pews-turned-headboards, and beautiful color schemes.

Conrad Nashville Arrow

It’s easy to imagine a movie being filmed in the large, high-ceiled, light-filled lobby of the Conrad. With its sweeping staircase and nattily-dressed clientele, it feels like it is out of central casting for “luxury hotel.” This vibe of everything being just right permeates the experience of staying at the Conrad. From wise assistance from the concierge to make the most of time in town, to dinner at Blue Aster, capping off the day with an artfully prepared meal, to a long soak in a giant bathtub, to getting shut-eye by closing the blinds with a press of a button, a stay at the Conrad is designed to make your life easier. The Midtown location is close enough to the Ryman Auditorium, Lower Broadway, and other attractions to get there quickly, but also offers a respite from downtown congestion.

Four Seasons Nashville Arrow

With a name that internationally means “luxury,” the Four Seasons Nashville moved to the top of lists of high-end hotel experiences immediately after opening in late 2022. The hotel staked its claim to downtown with a prime SoBro location, complete with expansive riverfront views and easy walking distance to the  Ryman , Bridgestone Arena, the  Frist Art Museum , and  restaurants  and  bars . As is the tradition at the Four Seasons, everything is refined, with a simple elegance to the décor, to the service, and to the food and wine. Special packages offer private experiences opening doors throughout the city, including a peek at the vintage guitar collection and vault at the nearby Gibson Garage.

This image may contain Art Art Gallery and Lighting

21c Museum Hotel, Nashville Arrow

Art is central to the experience at Nashville's 124-room, museum-esque 21c Hotel as it is at other 21cs . Even if you aren't a guest, drop by to poke around the rotating (and free) art exhibits and have a cocktail at Gray & Dudley . And while the public spaces are what you're here for, rooms are well-designed, minibars are stocked with local treats, and bathrooms with Malin + Goetz toiletries.

Fairlane Hotel

Fairlane Hotel Arrow

When you think about buildings that need salvation, perhaps the former bank headquarters that now houses The Fairlane wouldn’t be the first place to come to mind. After all, we don’t always think of the 1970s as the height of good looking architecture. But thanks to local architect Manuel Zeitlin, the structure lives on as a paragon of mid-century design, one that honors its roots without taking itself too seriously. The lobby's large, floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, making it great perch for people-watching. On the penthouse floor no two rooms are alike, with custom décor, vinyl albums, and even a fireplace.

Noelle Nashville a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Noelle, Nashville, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel Arrow

Noelle, tucked inside a completely renovated 1930s building, isn’t your standard new-hotel-in-an-old-building. Rather, it doubles as an art experience. Local artists designed the space and the art, drawing on inspiration from notable Nashvillians. You realize the vibe is different as soon as you walk in and see cool art and playful displays mingling elegantly with the original architecture. The check-in desk is inside the gift shop and the coffee shop is a work of art in itself. It's one of the few hotels in Nashville that feels like it's in New York City .

JW Marriott Nashville

JW Marriott Nashville Arrow

An ovular glass skyscraper jutting 33 stories into air, the JW Marriott Nashville is hard to miss. It was one of the city’s first true luxury hotels and quickly became one of its most recognizable buildings. You can't help but crane your neck upward, jaw open. Inside, the décor is sleek, crisp, and it oozes fanciness. The hotel has it all: a gym, a spa, original art, turn-down service with local touches, in-room blow-outs, and a first-class steakhouse. A 2023 renovation of the pool deck now features private cabanas with their own sound controls and poolside food and beverage service, with special amenities (sunglass cleaning, anyone?) every 90 minutes.

The Germantown Inn Suite Room Hotel interior Nashville

The Germantown Inn Arrow

This multi-level 1865 home in  Germantown  was lovingly restored as a sophisticated retreat and then updated again after the March 2020 tornadoes. Beds are cloud-like, sumptuous bathroom amenities are plentiful, and the place is full of modern colors (navy details contrast well with the restored brick) and historic details. This boutique inn isn’t a stuffy B&B with quirky characters and a musty smell; it is a modern hotel with luxury appointments, large bathrooms, a rooftop deck, a cozy courtyard, plus a lovely happy hour charcuterie and a basic breakfast. The whole of the inn's 10 rooms (including those in the carriage house) can be rented out in case you and a group want to have a retreat all to yourselves.

Loews Nashville Bar Lounge Interior

Loews Vanderbilt Hotel Arrow

The Loews' location is on-point for business and pleasure (though primarily business): It's close to 12 South, Downtown Broadway, and the Gulch . Delicious bites at the lobby bar make this corporate-friendly hotel standout as a leisure spot as well. Renovated in 2020, designer suites pay homage to country music icons in a way that is stylish, but not cheesy. The concierge service is among the best in the city, with the staff willing to attend to any of your needs. While the renovated meeting space makes this a hotel heavy on conventions, the Loews Loves Families and Loews Loves Pets programs draws folks traveling with little ones and pups in tow.

The Joseph a Luxury Collection Hotel Nashville

The Joseph, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nashville Arrow

Despite being part of Marriott's Luxury Collection, this hotel feels like an independent boutique. Each floor sports different artworks, including many pieces from the owner’s personal collection. The guest rooms are likewise decorated with their own artwork from locals. The restaurant, Yolan, could bring you to Nashville all on its own—heck, it brought  Spiaggia's  Tony and Cathy Mantuano. They moved to Nashville to open at the Joseph, bringing world-renowned pasta, hand-blown wine glasses, and building a see-through cheese cave with 80-pound wheels. In a generous move, the hotel also opened up the best real estate in the building, next to the Penthouse, to everyone by putting the fitness center there. That means every guest can appreciate the best view in the place.

Gaylord Opryland

Gaylord Opryland Arrow

Nashville’s family-friendliest hotel is a year-round resort designed to be a self-contained country-inspired destination. This is a giant complex—one of the largest hotels without a casino anywhere in the world. So, you could spend you whole vacation there, whizzing down slides in the SoundWaves waterpark, checking out the nightly light shows in the atrium, eating next to an indoor waterfall, admiring the plants in the conservatory, and then walking across the parking lot to catch a show at the Grand Ole Opry. That’s not recommended, of course—to love Nashville is to see all of it—but Opryland is a fun destination that connects R&R with the city’s musical history. Rooms are comfortable with pillow-top mattresses and plenty of elbow room. Book an atrium room with a balcony looking out into the resort.

The Hermitage Hotel Arrow

For more than a century, the Hermitage has been the gold standard of Nashville accommodations. The gilded entrance transports visitors to a more glamorous era of travel, while offering more bang for your buck than other downtown stays—rooms are spacious, beds are plush, and service is beyond compare. In 2020 the hotel celebrated the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment (the one granting women suffrage), which had much of its final push take place in the halls of the Hermitage before Tennessee became the state to put it over the top. That year the hotel also kicked off a complete renovation of guest rooms, the lobby, bar, and restaurant, resulting in a look that is crisp and modern but still connects to the hotel’s considerable history. The overhaul of the Drusie & Darr restaurant was overseen by Celebrity Chef Jean-George Vongerichten, who opened his first restaurant in the South at the Hermitage in 2021.

Glamping tennessee: 27 amazing places you need to stay [2024].

If you’re planning on booking a glamping vacation in Tennessee, you’re in for an absolute treat, as the state is home to some of the best glamping accommodation in the whole country.

Whether you’re taking the kids away, going on a romantic retreat, or want to get away with your friends, there will be something that suits you.

From treehouses and safari tents to geodomes and airstreams, here are 29 amazing glamping spots in Tennessee that you will love!

1. Converted WWII Train Car

converted-WWII-train-car-with-decking-in-field

Price per night:  From $171 for 4 people

Location:  Maryville, nr Knoxville

This Converted WWII Train Car is easily one of my favorite places to go glamping in Tennessee purely for how unique it is.

I mean, how many people can say they’ve slept in a converted WWII train car?

The interior has been beautifully renovated to the highest standard – so much so that it’s pretty much an interior decorator’s dream!

It benefits from a queen-size bed, a living area with a TV, a full kitchen, a bathroom with a soaking tub, a dining area, and a study.

Basically everything you could possibly ever want and more!

And to top it all off, the outdoor space is just as special.

What guests say: “This place was AMAZING! Dean had a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge for us along with some chocolate. On top of that, he had postcards that we could send to loved ones back home. The place is well worth the 5 stars without all of the extra hospitality, but those little things are what pushed it over the edge.”

2. Smoky Mountains Glamping Domes

smoky-mountains-glamping-dome-at-sunset-glamping-tennessee

Price per night:  From $95 for 2 people

Location:  Cosby, nr Knoxville

Smoky Mountains Glamping Domes is one of the more romantic glamping offerings in Tennessee, so if you want somewhere you can ramp up the romance, look no further!

These beautifully decorated domes are so spacious, airy, and stylish, to the point you’ll never want to leave them.

However, if you do, you’ll be rewarded with amazing views and plenty of great walks on their 140-acre farm.

Savor your meals on the picnic table, enjoy the warm propane fire pit, or just sit back and stargaze.

However you choose to spend your time, you’re guaranteed a great vacation!

What guests say: “This stay was 100% worth it. You get a beautiful view of the sunrise and sunset. It rained both nights, but there was something about sitting in the domes, listening and watching the rain that was truly magical. The domes are extremely well kept, and they even leave a little S’Mores kit.”

3. Canopy Ridge Safari Tents

exterior-of-canopy-ridge-safari-tent-glamping-tennessee

Price per night:  From $142 for 2 people

Location: Pigeon Forge, nr Knoxville

Want to feel like you’ve been transported to the plains of South Africa, but without the hefty price tag?

Canopy Ridge Safari Tents can help you achieve just that!

The tents themselves are pretty simple with just a double bed and a wood-burner to keep you toasty but this only helps to elevate the camping experience.

Outside you’ll find your private decking, outdoor shower, bathhouse, a fire pit, and a covered lounge with a coffee bar and propane grill.

All these elements come together to create a haven for you and your loved one away from the world!

What guests say: “Highly recommend this stay! My partner and I have not stopped talking about it since we left. The tent was beautiful and the perfect size. It’s nestled in the woods so you wake up to the sweet sounds of nature. There were people staying in other tents but we had so much privacy; never even saw the other guests. They truly thought of everything.”

4. Treehouse Grove Treehouses

the-cedar-treehouse-at-treehouse-grove-glamping-tennessee

Price per night:  From $370 for 4 people

Location:  Gatlinburg, nr Knoxville

If you’re looking for a more upmarket place to go glamping in Tennessee that feels more akin to a luxurious vacation rental, look no further than Treehouse Grove Treehouses .

There are eight jaw-dropping treehouses on-site, each unique in its own way but as beautiful as the last!

Expect amenities such as spacious covered decks, TVs, full bathrooms and kitchens, and more.

And of course, they all benefit from the same seriously beautiful surroundings of the Smoky Mountains.

What guests say: “We had the best time of our lives! The treehouses were amazing, the scenery was magical, and I felt like I was in a whole new world!”

5. No.9 Farms Vintage Trailer

no-9-farms-blue-vintage-trailer-with-decking

Price per night:  From $206 for 2 people

Location:  Ashland City, nr Nashville

This 1949 Spartan Mansion Vintage Trailer has been lovingly renovated into a unique Airbnb rental you’ll be dying to stay at as soon as you see what’s in store for you!

From the white claw-foot bathtub to the outdoor kitchen to the spacious covered decking and fire pit, the outside space is to die for.

Luckily the romance continues inside with a cozy sleeping quarter that benefits from a comfy double bed, dreamy bedding, and intimate lighting.

Get ready to spend your time sipping wine by the fire, snuggling up on the couch with a good book, or running a bath at sunset. Heavenly!

What guests say: “If you need a place to reset and feel inspired… this is it. My favorite moments were spent getting to know Brian and Stephanie, walking the farm in the afternoons, hearing the rain on the roof, the bathhouse at any hour of the day, the green moss trails, the delicious blueberries, the stars at night, and cozying up with a book in the Spartan. All of it is magic.”

6. Mossy Forest Stargazing Hut

exterior-of-stargazing-hut-at-mossy-forest-glamping

Price per night:  From $85 for 2 people

Location:  Liberty Hill, nr Knoxville

Mossy Forest Stargazing Hut is definitely one of the more back-to-basic glamping spots in Tennessee but this only means that it allows you to properly get back to nature.

Oh, and stargaze, of course! It’s in the name, right?

I couldn’t think of anything much more romantic than cozying up in the queen-size bed with a loved one stargazing through the transparent ceiling.

In fact, you can even stargaze from your roofless shower too!

After a great night’s sleep, enjoy their complimentary organic farm eggs, oatmeal, french press coffee, and tea for breakfast. Delicious!

What guests say: “Peaceful and simple place with lots of little touches and quirks (look out for all the funny signs!) Loved meeting the animals and sitting by the fire. There’s electricity in the hut, so a good step out into the wilderness without needing to be truly roughing it!”

7. Little River Tiny House

little-river-tiny-house-lit-up-at-night-glamping-tennessee

Price per night:  From $185 for 4 people

Little River Tiny House is easily one of my all-time favorite places to go glamping in Tennessee.

This tiny house really is an interior designer’s dream.

Inside you’ll find an amazing fireplace, a fully-equipped kitchen with locally roasted coffee and a Keurig coffee machine, a TV, Wi-Fi, a loft bed, and a modern bathroom filled with lots of complimentary goodies.

However, the outside space is even better!

With loads of outdoor furniture, a hammock, and beautiful views of the river, I couldn’t think of anywhere I’d rather relax than on one of their two porches.

What guests say: “This chic tiny home is expertly made and full of thoughtful touches to delight guests day or night. The rooftop stargazing is gorgeous and watching the sunrise with coffee and little birds stopping by on the porch is so relaxing. The space is refreshing after all-day hikes in the mountains. That shower is 1000% a hiker’s dream.”

8. Sassy Springs Retreat Bell Tents

the-blue-bell-tent-lit-up-at-night-at-sassy-springs-retreat

Location:  Morrison, nr Chattanooga

Sassy Springs Retreat Bell Tents are ridiculously romantic.

However, all their tents sleep up to five people, so they also make great accommodation for families and friends too!

These beautifully decorated bell tents marry the feeling of camping outdoors with the comfort of an air-conditioned and heated queen-size suite.

Perfect for those people who want to get closer to nature but don’t want to compromise on luxury!

On-site you’ll also discover two full-size bathrooms with large tubs and showers, a community kitchen area, movie screen, fire pit, walking trails, fishing lake with kayaks, and so much more.

The world’s your oyster!

What guests say: “This stay was so much more than we expected even after seeing all the awesome pictures! Wonderfully whimsical, peaceful, and serene to say the least. The hosts are so kind and were ready to mindfully cater to any of our needs.”

9. Serenity House Treehouse

serenity-house-treehouse-in-forest-glamping-tennessee

Price per night:  From $197 for 4 people

Location:  McEwen, nr Nashville

Serenity House Treehouse is a seriously impressive structure.

And it gets even more impressive once you step foot into it!

Simple yet beautifully decorated, the interior decor marries the back-to-basics feeling you want from a treehouse with a luxury hotel suite that feels like a real treat.

The full-size kitchen is a particular highlight, as well as the loft queen-size bed.

The story continues outside with a spacious porch with outdoor furniture, and swing seats below, from which you can soak up the valley views.

However, don’t spend all your time at the treehouse because there are many walking trails, and a pond for fishing and swimming to discover, and horses, goats, and highland cows to meet!

What guests say: “This place exceeded all expectations… it really was a little piece of paradise. I couldn’t recommend this home strongly enough – if you’re looking for a quiet, secluded, beautiful place to stay, then look no further. Everything about this place was perfect, and we can’t wait to visit again.

10. The Roost Glamping Tent

the-roost-glamping-tent-in-trees-glamping-tennessee

Price per night:  From $231 for 2 people

Location:  Chattanooga

I’ve never really seen anything quite like The Roost Glamping Tent before which is why it absolutely deserves its place on this list of the best glamping spots in Tennessee.

Combining the luxury of a canvas tent with the heights of a treehouse, it’s perfectly placed at the top of a hilltop so you can immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the breathtaking views.

The tent itself is modern and beautifully furnished with a full double bed, indoor seating, a fireplace, and a TV.

And at the back of your tent, you’ll find an amazing fire pit and seating area where you can toast marshmallows to your heart’s content!

What guests say: “This amazing treehouse tent made our trip. There were soooo many thoughtful touches. The heated blanket, the dining nook that overlooked the trees, the TV, the grill, the fire pit, the woodwork, the bar, the trip leading up to it. It was magical. The bed was super comfy with the softest blanket. The location was incredible.”

11. Getaway Dale Hollow Cabin

getaway-dale-hollow-cabin-with-outdoor-seating-in-forest

Price per night:  From $108 for 2 people

Location:  Midway, nr Cookeville

Getaway Dale Hollow Cabin is one of my all-time favorite places to go glamping in Tennessee.

It’s ridiculously romantic and a complete retreat away from the world for just you and your other half.

The large full-length window brings nature indoors and allows you to feel a part of the forest even when you’re inside.

Alongside your queen-size bed that’s perfectly placed to enjoy the views, you also have a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, and a luxurious en-suite packed into that small space.

You really have no reason to ever leave!

What guests say: “We loved our tiny cabin in the woods. This place is all about getting away in nature and unplugging. They even provide you with a box to put away your phones! We spent the days exploring the area which is beautiful. There are several parks in the vicinity that have waterfalls.”

12. Forest Gully Farms Hobbit Holes

forest-gully-farms-hobbit-hole-lit-up-at-night-glamping-tennessee

Price per night:  From $375 for 8 people

Location:  Santa Fe, nr Nashville

Calling all Lord of the Rings fans! This is the best glamping site in Tennessee for you.

Forest Gully Farms Hobbit Holes may be designed for hobbits but because you get three earth houses to spread yourselves across, the site actually sleeps up to eight people!

You’ll instantly feel like you’ve been transported to Middle Earth, whether you spend your days hanging out by the fire pit, hiking to the creek and waterfalls, or picking from their food forest and veggie garden.

You’ve got fifteen acres all to yourself so you can explore to your heart’s content!

What guests say: “Where do I even start? Between the hobbit holes, the gardens, and the wonderful bathhouse we felt so lucky to be here! I could live in that shower for days! Our favorite things were the hike down to the waterfall, foraging for blueberries, and waking up to gathering and cooking farm-fresh eggs!”

13. Dreamy Tiny House

exterior-of-dreamy-tiny-house-in-woodland

Price per night:  From $107 for 4 people

Location:  South Nashville

This Dreamy Tiny House is, well, pretty dreamy!

The house is beautifully decorated and it’s clear to see they’ve packed a lot of love into a small space.

There are so many charming touches to discover inside, from the beautiful claw-foot tub to the re-purposed vintage cabinets to the queen-size mezzanine bed.

And there’s even a projector and Netflix so you can settle down and have a movie night too!

If you somehow needed any more reasons to book a stay, it’s famously ‘Tennessee’s most wish-listed Airbnb’ and has featured in Travel+Leisure, Southern Living, House Beautiful, the Tennessean, and USA Today. It’s that  good!

What guests say: “Everything about our stay at the tiny cottage was magical. Not only was the cottage very cozy but the surrounding garden and backyard were great. There were small and thoughtful details such as the coffee press and the projector. We enjoyed our stay immensely.”

14. Copperhill Glamping Tents

exterior-of-copperhill-glamping-tent-in-forest-glamping-tennessee

Location:  Copperhill, nr Chattanooga

With hardwood floors, large queen-size beds, and comfortable furniture, the three tents at Copperhill Glamping are so well-equipped that it won’t feel like you’re glamping at all.

If you want to remind yourself where you’re sleeping, all you need to do is pull back the doors and settle down on your covered porch with seating for two. This is nature at its best!

Nearby you’ll find two large fire rings to cook up a feast, as well as a communal lodge building with a pool table, games, couches, gas grill, a large screen TV, and surround sound system.

What guests say: “Everything was so much more amazing than we expected. The tent and bathrooms were amazing and had everything we could possibly need! And the details took everything to the next level – from the fairy door on a tree by the pond, to the chandelier in the tent, to the river stone tiled shower.”

15. Treehouse Mountain Retreat Treehouses

stamish-castle-treehouse-at-treehouse-mountain-retreat-glamping-tennessee

Price per night:  From $212 for 4 people

Any treehouse with a rope bridge leading up to it is a good treehouse in my books, and that’s why I can’t get enough of Treehouse Mountain Retreat Treehouses .

There are four amazing treehouses to choose from here: Rubicon, The Stamish Castle, La Paz, and The Dreamweaver.

They are all so amazing that I don’t think I could ever pick a favorite but don’t worry because they all benefit from amazing private porches with breathtaking views of the mountains.

And that’s all you could ever need, right?

What guests say: “We have stayed here three times. The treehouses are absolute magic for our 5-year-old and 8-year-old. There are a lot of times on vacations when you see pictures of the destination and think there is no way it can look that good. If anything, the pictures of treehouse mountain don’t do it justice.”

16. Camp Grits Campers

Camp Grits Campers are pretty much the definition of ‘cute’.

There are two vintage campers to choose from, one of which is red and the other yellow, and they are just as adorable as each other!

Both enjoy wonderful woodland surroundings and shared usage of their bathhouse which benefits from a clawfoot tub.

In the colder months, you can light a fire under the bath and have yourself a ‘hillbilly hot tub’. Pretty unique, huh?

Top tip: ask for breakfast in advance, and you’ll get to enjoy eggs, milk, butter, and homemade bread. Delicious!

What guests say: “We loved the retro linen and little details like the mini-library of vintage nature books – in fact, we couldn’t fault the whole experience – from the hillbilly hot tub (a must!) to cooking our dinner over an open fire. Rosie was a great host and the homemade bread provided was delicious.”

Under a two-hour drive from Nashville and close to the historic city of Celina, these fully-stocked cabins promise ease, comfort, incredible views, and a sense of community – should you desire it.

Including cozy full-size beds, AC and heating, hot showers, cooking equipment, and the beautiful outside additions of a fire pit (they even include a s’mores kit for just $5 in case you forget them) – it’s easy to see why Getaway is becoming a super popular glamping choice, especially for weekend breaks!

Lower Broadway's appeal includes more than its honky-tonks. The area consists of landmarks such as the Ryman Auditorium and cultural centers like the Frist Art Museum , offering exploration of diverse art forms.

Although fall is the park's most popular season, Tennessee’s changing seasons bring unique experiences, making the Smoky Mountains a year-round attraction.

Tennessee is home to 908 waterfalls , according to Tennessee Landforms, with a substantial number accessible to the public, despite some being on private lands or off trail. Among these, several waterfalls stand out across the state:

  • Ruby Falls is found within Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga.
  • Laurel Falls is a striking 25-foot waterfall in Beersheba Springs, that transforms into a winter spectacle with snowfall.
  • Burgess Falls is an enchanting cascading waterfall in Sparta.
  • Fall Creek Falls claims the title of the tallest waterfall in the state and is located in Spencer.

Tennessee is an excellent year-round destination.

Given the possibility of sudden weather changes, it is recommended to pack layers no matter the season.

Summer is the busiest time of year for tourism in Tennessee, according to Frommer’s. However, spring and fall are the most temperate seasons for outdoor activities. Although snow falls only once or twice a year, winter temperatures often dip below freezing.

Visitors should plan their trip based on their vacation goals and the purpose of the trip. Given Tennessee's vibrant music scene, syncing a trip with a concert or show can significantly enhance the overall experience.

Americans are on the move. Over eight million people relocated to a different state in 2022, according to estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau . And a new report by relocation company MoveBuddha sheds more light on where Americans are headed in 2024. Based on customer search data, the company identified the most desirable destinations with the highest migration rates, and a city in the Sunshine State topped the list.

The Villages in Central Florida, known as the largest retirement community in the world, had the highest in-to-out ratio, 4.38, meaning that for every one hundred people who leave the city, another 438 move in.

“The Villages is a racehorse that’s outpacing every other city in the country for growth. Fueled by a ‘silver tsunami,’ this Baby Boomtown has been on the rise for a decade and shows no signs of slowing down in 2024. With baby boomers reaching retirement age through 2031, the Florida destination is poised for even more growth in years to come,” the report stated, noting that the community offers a mix of good weather and activities.

MoveBuddha’s analysis also shows that while housing costs are a consideration, Americans are willing to relocate to a destination where real estate prices are not necessarily the lowest. In The Villages, for example, the median home value is $407,528, which is more than the nation’s average of $347,716.

Another destination popular with senior adults that made it to the top three is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where over a fifth of the population is aged 65 and over. The oceanfront community ranked third with an in-to-out ratio of 3.22.

However, MoveBuddha noted that cities with bustling art scenes located in natural settings draw the most interest overall. Asheville, North Carolina, for example, which takes the No. 2 spot with an in-to-out ratio of 3.29, is one of them. Similarly, Billings, Montana; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Boulder, Colorado; and Burlington, Vermont; are in the top 10 most desirable places to move to in 2024.

But if you are looking for affordability, the report also points out that five of the 25 winning cities have median home values of under $200,000, and those are Dayton, Ohio; Hartford, Connecticut; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Des Moines, Iowa; and Champaign, Illinois.

Another significant outtake from the report is that Americans are no longer leaving urban areas — a trend that started during the COVID-19 pandemic. People favor mid-size cities of about 200,000 residents, with Boston being the most populous of all on the list.

As Tennessee Tries To Outlaw Reparations, One Pastor Is Fighting Back

Fisher recommends that community organizing in Tennessee could help elect political leaders who will be less beholden to agree with the tenets of white nationalism and white supremacy.

The Tennessee Senate is attempting to ban the study of reparations in its counties. SB0429, sponsored by Republican Sen. Brent Taylor, is being positioned by Taylor as part of his belief that reparations is a national issue and not a state issue.

One Tennessee pastor is pushing back against the bill. As WKRN reports, Rev. Earle Fisher, the senior pastor at Memphis’ Abyssinian Baptist Church, has started a petition against the bill and claims that the bill is about maintaining political power.

“This is not about money. This is about ideology. This is about political power,” Fisher told the outlet. “This is about people who are hell-bent on maintaining racial and economic inequities across the state, and they are scared to death that the truth would come out.  So, they don’t want anybody to study it.”

Fisher also told Capital B News , “It’s a white nationalist [legislature] with a supermajority, and it’s not lost on me or anybody who has been doing political organizing over the last several years that this is indeed who they are. When you are passing legislation to stop people from studying something, as a legislative body, it communicates that not only are you committed to injustice and inequity, but you are anti-truth.”

Taylor explained his reasoning for sponsoring the bill. “I will make very clear our vote today does not pass judgment on reparations,” he told WKRN. “That is a very significant and very important issue for many people in our country, but it is an issue that belongs to the federal government and does not belong to our cities and counties, and I think it’s inappropriate for our cities and counties tax dollars to go to such an issue.”

Rep. Justin J. Pearson, a Democrat, told Capital B that Tennessee’s fight against reparations is part of the state’s troubling history.

“This is the legislating of white supremacy and racism that we deal with here,” Pearson said, adding that the bill is a “terrible” yet “accurate” reflection of the state he represents. “The push by the Republican Party in our state against reparations is really an effort to live in an ahistorical way—to not understand the past and its ramifications for the present day.”

Fisher, meanwhile, recommends that community organizing in Tennessee could help elect political leaders who will be less beholden to agree with white nationalism and white supremacy.

“Sometimes you fight in Congress, and if you can’t win in Congress, you got to fight in court. But in order to do any of that effectively, you got to organize in the community,” Fisher told Capital B . “At the end of the day, we have to look at some of these elected officials who are proposing these things—look at some of these races where some of the white nationalist congressmen could potentially be ousted and try to focus on that.”

SB0429 is scheduled to go before the Tennessee House of Representatives for a vote on April 10. At the time of writing, Fisher’s petition has garnered 1,288 signatures on Change.org.
