Recent tour reviews

Opening band was horrible. Victor Wooten's show was far too short. I was ok, but needed a keyboard player and lead guitarist. I have followed Mr Wooten's work for decades and I know what he is capable of. I honestly felt he was looking for a quick payday. And for $60 I expected more.

Any and everything that you may have seen of Victor on the net you would've seen it last night. Victor's known in the musician's world. He's a "Bass Master." He also brought along some of his students in his music clinic on this tour with him and his brothers and featured them on songs as well as some of their own compositions. It was a nice and educational show.

2/5. Went yesterday to his concert, it was expensive and he only played off an hour. I've been waiting to see this guy play for a while, and was willing to spend some money to see him. The venue in Manhattan (Iridium) is small and there a $15 minimum. I ended up paying $100 to see him play about an hour. They say never meet your heroes.

Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers Release “Sweat” as Reunion Tour Launches

Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers Release “Sweat” as Reunion Tour Launches

Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers have unveiled an electrifying new music video for their latest single, “SWEAT,” the titular track from their upcoming album—their first in decades. The funky and fresh release arrived just before the Wooten brothers kicked off their highly anticipated reunion tour last night in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Fronted by the globally acclaimed bassist, author and music educator, Victor Wooten, The Wooten Brothers bring together a powerhouse lineup, including keyboardist Joseph Wooten, Roy “Futureman” Wooten, celebrated for his groundbreaking musical inventions such as the “Drumitar” and the “RoyEI” keyboard, and Regi Wooten. The brothers–who began making music together in their early years–have each pursued distinctive musical journeys and now, are reuniting for a groundbreaking collaborative album and tour, marking their first major collaboration since the passing of their brother, Rudy Wooten, in 2010.

Victor Wooten expressed his enthusiasm for the reunion tour earlier this year: “Being in a band with my brothers is the best thing for me. It’s like a family reunion every time we get together to play. They are my teachers, and I feel most at home with them. The music we are working on at the moment is a collection of new and old. We have songs that were recorded decades ago that have never been heard by anyone. We also have newer music that was recorded over the last year. It will be a nice collection of old and new. With the older music, we want to introduce the world to Rudy, our saxophone-playing brother who passed away in 2010. Be prepared to have your mind blown.”

Following the Tennessee tour kickoff, The Wooten Brothers will embark on a journey through the South and Northeast. Find a comprehensive list of tour dates and further details on tickets here .

Victor Wooten and the Wooten Brothers Announce Fall Tour with Rebirth Brass Band

by Jacob Uitti May 19, 2023, 8:41 am

Legendary bass player Victor Wooten along with his group the Wooten Brothers have announced an upcoming fall tour with the Rebirth Brass Band.

Videos by American Songwriter

The five-time Grammy Award-winning Wooten will be joined by brothers Joseph, Roy, and Regi Wooten on the tour, which kicks off on September 29 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and concludes in Buffalo, New York on October 14.

During his career, Victor Wooten has played with the likes of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones (as a founding member), Chick Corea, Dave Matthews Band, India Arie, Keb’ Mo’, and Cory Wong.

Joseph Wooten has been the keyboardist for the Steve Miller Band and has worked with Whitney Houston, George Clinton, Kenny G, and more. Roy Wooten is also a founding member of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. Regi is a bass-playing pioneer who has been compared to countless artists from Jimi Hendrix to Chuck Berry.

According to a press statement, “Together The Wooten Brothers bring an uncanny level of experience, originality and expertise to the stage. Playing together since childhood, the formidable group has shared stages with the likes of Curtis Mayfield, The Temptations, Ramsey Lewis, Stephanie Mills, War, and others.”

“Being in a band with my brothers is the best thing for me,” says Victor in a statement. “It’s like a family reunion every time we get together to play. They are my teachers and I feel most at home with them.”

This will be the brothers’ first tour together as a band since the death of their saxophone-playing brother Rudy several years ago. In the next year, The Wooten Brothers will release their first studio album in several decades.

“The music we are working on at the moment is a collection of new and old,” adds Victor. ‘We have songs that were recorded decades ago that have never been heard by anyone. We also have newer music that was recorded over the last year. It will be a nice collection of old and new. With the older music, we want to introduce the world to Rudy, our saxophone-playing brother who passed away in 2010. Be prepared to have your mind blown.”

Cory Wong  has announced a long list of 2022–2023 tour dates in support of his April 2022 LP,  Power Station . The tour, divided into two sections, will feature a pair of new-look band lineups with featured guests like revered bassist Victor Wooten , charismatic Ripe vocalist Robbie Wulfsohn , and bluegrass singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist  Sierra Hull .

Each of the tour’s special guests has a noted connection to Wong. Sierra Hull served as a supporting act and frequent onstage guest during Wong’s early-2022  Cory & The Wongtones  tour . She also appeared as a featured guest on a recent episode of the YouTube variety show of the same name and collaborated with Wong on Power Station track “Over The Mountain”. Wulfsohn provided vocals on “ Light As Anything ” from Cory’s 2018 LP,  The Optimist .

Wooten made an impact on Wong long before the two actually met. In a YouTube video posted in early 2021, Wong reacted to an old video of Victor Wooten performing a solo bass  rendition of “Amazing Grace” from  Béla Fleck & The Flecktones ‘  Live at the Quick . In the clip , Wong explained how this particular live album “gave him permission” to pursue his own unique, “left-of-center” musical ambitions. Victor Wooten later responded to Cory Wong in a post of his own : “Thank you for taking the baton and running with it,” he said. “You’re the leader now.”

Victor Wooten later appeared as a guest on the latest season of  Cory & The Wongnotes and contributed to  Power Station ‘s thumping “Direct Flyte”. The  Power Station  2023 tour dates will mark his first time performing live with Cory Wong in front of a full audience.

The fall 2022 leg of the tour, scheduled to begin in Kansas City, MO on November 2nd and wrap up in Austin, TX on November 19th, will feature a band augmented by Sierra Hull and Robbie Wulfsohn. The winter 2023 run, beginning on February 23rd in St. Louis and rounding out in St. Paul, MN on March 4th, will include featured guest Victor Wooten in addition to support from Trousdale .

According to Wong’s announcement, the funk guitarist and bandleader will play two sets each night on tour. He also noted that he will be “doing a little acoustic storytellers thing in most cities.”

Cory Wong Releases New Live Album and Announces Tour With Victor Wooten

The Power Station Tour resumes in February featuring support from Victor Wooten

GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter, producer, and guitarist extraordinaire Cory Wong has shared THE POWER STATION TOUR (WEST COAST) , an all-new collection captured live on stage during his biggest US headline tour thus far. Recorded last November in a variety of iconic venues across the country, the 19-track album sees Wong joined by singer-songwriter mandolinist Sierra Hull and singer Robbie Wulfsohn (of Ripe) for a spectacular set that expertly showcases the tour’s singular energy and collective spirit. THE POWER STATION TOUR (WEST COAST) is available now at all DSPs and streaming services.

“ I’m a LIVE guy, ” says Cory Wong. “ I love the energy of live shows and that’s really where my band shines. There’s something special about a group of 10 musicians on stage giving it everything they’ve got with a packed room of people giving that energy right back. My live show is a balance of highly arranged material with jumping points that give ample room for exploration night after night. This album is a collection of our favorite journeys through each song. ”

LISTEN TO THE POWER STATION TOUR (WEST COAST)

Wong – who spent this past week sitting in on CBS’ Late Show With Stephen Colbert as special guest with Louis Cato & The Late Show Band – is currently set to embark on the next leg of the uniquely collaborative POWER STATION TOUR, this time joined by 5x Grammy Award-winning bassist Victor Wooten (Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, SMV) and special guests Trousdale. Dates get underway February 16 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO, and then traveling into early March. Highlights include headline shows at Nashville, TN‘s Ryman Auditorium (February 17), New York City’s famed Beacon Theatre (February 23), and a sold-out hometown tour finale at St. Paul, MN’s Palace Theatre (March 4). In addition, Wong has slated a number of festival appearances through the summer – including New Orleans, LA – New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (April 29), Live Oak, FL – Echoland Music Festival (May 12), Chillicothe, IL’s Summer Camp Music Festival (May 26-28), Manchester, TN’s Bonnaroo (June 15-18), Saratoga Springs, NY’s Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival (June 24), Quincy, CA’s High Sierra Music Festival (June 29- July 2), and Snowshoe, WV’s 4848 Festival (July 13) – followed by an EU/UK headline tour with dates scheduled through October. For complete details and ticket availability, please see www.corywongmusic.com/tour .

THE POWER STATION TOUR follows last year’s release of Wong’s explosive new album, POWER STATION , available now at all DSPs and streaming services. Hailed by AllMusic for its “ brightly organic crossover vibe ,” the highly charged jazz-funk collection sees Wong joined by an all-star array of special guests including Billy Strings, Big Wild, Chromeo, Béla Fleck, Sierra Hull, Victor Wooten, Larry Carlton, Nate Smith, and more.

Recently named by none other than Steve Vai in Guitar World as one of “ 5 Contemporary Guitarists Who Are Taking The Instrument To The Next Level, ” Wong celebrated the arrival of POWER STATION via the star-studded second season of his inventive online musical variety series, Cory and the Wongnotes , streaming now via the Minneapolis, MN-based artist’s hugely popular YouTube channel. Created and hosted by the seemingly inexhaustible Wong, the new season of Cory and the Wongnotes features extended episodes showcasing long-form interviews, fresh new sketches, and unprecedented musical collaborations with many of the artists featured on POWER STATION .

The program wraps with a celebration of the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, with Cann at the keyboard making her CSO debut. ● July 13 – South African cellist-composer Abel Selaocoe* joins Alsop and debuts with the CSO performing his Four Spirits, which “takes the concerto format to thrillingly unprecedented places” (Bachtrack). Themes of ancestral wisdom, faith, and community permeate the program, as the piece is put in perspective alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s monumental Fifth Symphony and its distinct explorations of fate. ● July 19 – Conductor Ted Sperling joins the CSO with special guest vocalists to celebrate two iconic pop songwriters, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon. ● July 20 – Alsop and the CSO take the stage for Gustav Mahler’s final major work for orchestra, Symphony No. 9. Voted as the greatest symphony of all-time in BBC Music 2 Magazine, the evening-long work has beguiled audiences since its 1912 premiere by Bruno Walter and the Vienna Philharmonic. ● July 21 – Winner of the gold medal at the International Chopin Competition and recipient of many esteemed prizes, Japanese pianist Hayato Sumino* reunites with Alsop and makes his Ravinia and CSO debuts performing Fryderyk Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1. In the second half of the program, Alsop explores symphonic storytelling during the turn of the 19th century, leading the CSO in Richard Strauss’s tone poem Don Juan and Maurice Ravel’s choreographic symphony Daphnis et Chloé (Suite No. 2). ● July 25 – Mendelssohn's hit violin concerto, played by Augustin Hadelich^, is in the spotlight as Alsop leads the CSO. Also featured on the program are Bernstein’s joyous Symphonic Dances from West Side Story and Stravinsky's timeless Firebird Suite. Conductor Alena Hron , the 2024–26 Taki Alsop Fellow, guests on the podium to lead Geroge Walker’s Icarus in Orbit. ● July 26 – The centerpiece of Breaking Barriers 2024 is a space-themed concert complete with visuals and introductions by NASA specialists. Alsop conducts the orchestra in Holst’s The Planets, followed by a suite from Falkenberg’s The Moons Symphony. Audiences will see science come alive and hear from planetary scientists, including Astronaut Nicole Stott together with the composer, as they discuss how Falkenberg’s symphony offers new perspectives for humanity to contemplate our home in the cosmos. ● July 28 – Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship alum Carolyn Kuan leads this year’s Tchaikovsky Spectacular, complete with Ravinia’s signature cannons in the 1812 Overture. Making her CSO debut, she opens the program with the complete music from the first act of The Nutcracker. Desirée Ruhstrat also makes her CSO debut as the soloist for the cherished Violin Concerto. ● August 2 – Conductor Valentina Peleggi, another TACF alum, returns to Ravinia and the CSO, following a guest appearance during last summer’s Breaking Barriers Festival, to join with esteemed pianist Jorge Federico Osorio on Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto. Peleggi will also lead Tchaikovsky’s Francesca da Rimini and Respighi’s Pines of Rome. ● August 4 – Music director, conductor, and arranger Kevin Stites explores the music of legendary performer and film composer Henry Mancini for the annual Gala Benefit Evening. Curated and hosted by actor Rob Lindley, “Mancini at 100: The Music of Henry Mancini, from the big screen, to the small screen, to the stage and beyond” features Broadway vocalists Jessie Mueller* (Waitress, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Norm Lewis* 3 (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables), and Karen Mason* (Sunset Boulevard), with all three making their Ravinia and CSO debuts. ● August 9 & 11 – The CSO delves into operatic repertory as a semi-staging of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Idomeneo is conducted by Los Angeles Opera (and former Ravinia) Music Director James Conlon in the Martin Theatre. The work, set in Crete in 1200 BCE and telling a story from the Trojan War, shines light on a talented group of singers. Starring are tenor Matthew Polenzani as Greek king Idomeneo, soprano Andrea Carroll* as princess Ilia, and soprano Alexandria Shiner* as princess Elettra. ● August 10 – Conlon will lead an all-Mozart program with the CSO in the festival’s Pavilion between the opera performances. The program will feature both of the composer’s G-minor symphonies—the “little” No. 25, K. 183, and the “great” No. 40, K. 550—along with the Violin Concerto No. 5, welcoming James Ehnes as soloist on the violin. ● August 18 – Conductor Jonathan Rush, a frequent Ravinia guest in recent seasons and former assistant to Alsop, returns to the CSO podium. Chicago native Rachel Barton Pine takes the stage with Rush and the orchestra as the soloist for José White Lafitte’s Violin Concerto and Niccolò Paganini’s La Campanella

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport.
