This have all the goods and the autor haven't used expensive stuff, just the free or accessible things. You don't have to have huge budget for a game, just time, passion and talent.

The app's primary function is to allow users to navigate the world similarly to Google Maps' StreetView, allowing them to enter an address and be transported to that spot. In addition to immersive imagery, users can use the historical jumping feature to see what different areas looked like over the years. Many famous landmarks even have the ability to be explored from the inside, giving users the feeling that they're really there.

BRINK Traveler

BRINK Traveler gives users the ability to see some of the most amazing places on Earth from the comfort of their own homes. While there are currently only 17 locations for users to visit, the additional features make each one a true travel experience that may push them to travel in real life as well .

Virtual guides can explain the features and history of each spot, and an in-app camera allows users to take all the pictures they would want if they were to visit in person. Another great feature is the ability to travel in multiplayer mode, which lets users meet up with friends from anywhere while getting a remarkable view at the same time.

OtherSight is one of the most interactive travel apps out there because it specifically focused on including usable objects in every location. Currently, users only have the option of going to four different locations, but there's a lot that they can do at each one.

Users can visit churches, streets, and museums and really get a sense of how it feels to be there. The scale, texture, and movement qualities of interactive features are especially well done. While this is a fairly limited app at the moment, the developers are working on new locations, which can provide future explorations.

The Ocean might not be the first place people think of when they try to imagine their travel plans, but it is one of the great untapped resources on Earth. There is far more to be seen and discovered in the Ocean than there is on land, and Ocean Rift gives users the chance to explore that realm.

There are 14 different habitats to explore, which can be used as an educational program or one for relaxation, depending on the settings. The sea creatures are extremely detailed, and users can actually interact with many of them, giving the perspective of a true underwater safari. However, those with a fear of the ocean and its creatures may find some modes a little too realistic for their comfort level.

Blueplanet VR Explore is one of the most expensive travel apps, but that's in part because it is so extensive. The app allows its users to travel to 40 different cultural sites, with some offering the ability to interact with the landscape or even hang glide over it.

One of the best qualities of this app is the spacial breakdown, where users can truly explore the location. It is a physically navigable terrain, which creates a greater level of immersion than standard point-and-click systems. The one downside to the app, beyond its price, is that it takes up a lot of space, requiring a lot of memory and a strong internet signal while downloading.

Alcove is not technically a travel app, but it does offer a number of virtual tour experiences for free. The app itself is a virtual home, where users can download different in-app features depending on their interests. The travel features do include a number of tours on the ground, under the sea, and even in the sky, narrated by some of the most thorough guides available in VR.

The detail work and spontaneity make it an engaging experience, though users should be aware that it is not intended to be a completely realistic one.

ecosphere is a photo-realistic breakdown of the Earth's most beautiful locations and the people that are working to protect them. Intended as a way to help the average person connect with the environmental crises of our time , these immersive documentaries show the importance of caring for the Earth before the damage is irreversible.

It seems that virtual reality may be about to become even more real than ever before -- all thanks to a new VR headset. Pimax, a company that manufactures VR equipment, announced the upcoming release of a new 12K QLED VR headset that will feature technologies such as eye tracking, full-body tracking, and refresh rates of up to 200Hz. The headset, dubbed Pimax Reality 12K QLED, is part of the company's venture into the metaverse and a step toward bringing true realism to using VR.

We live in an age of unprecedented access to digital technology – and with it, brand new ways of exploring the world around us.

While it's not quite the same as seeing, say, the Mona Lisa or Christ the Redeemer in person, some of the world’s most popular and remote destinations have created libraries of online images and video, as well as 360 degree virtual tours that let you virtually explore museums, galleries, world wonders and even national parks.

Here a just a few of the best digital tours that let you wander the world from wherever you may be social distancing.

See the seven wonders of the world

If there’s anything capable of whetting your appetite for world travel, it is the new seven wonders of the world:  the Great Wall of China , the ancient city of Petra , the Taj Mahal , the Colosseum , Machu Picchu , Christ the Redeemer , and Chichen Itza . Thankfully there are impressive virtual tours of each from The New York Times , AirPano , Google , and Panoramas .

With modern technology, you can even see the last standing wonder of the ancient world— The Pyramids of Giza . There are a few other wonders that might not make it into to the top seven but are still worth a digital peek, like the Alhambra , Seville's La Giralda , and even Easter Island.

Best virtual museum tours

In recent years, Google has partnered with over 2,5000 art museums to upload high-resolution versions of millions of pieces of art. Highlights include New York’s MoMA , DC’s National Gallery of Art , Chicago’s Art Institute , the Casa Battl ó, and Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum to name a few.

In addition, The Louvre offers a virtual tour , as do The Vatican Museums , many of the Smithsonian Museums , the Russian Museum , the top-rated British Museum , the Minneapolis  Museum of Russian Art , and the Palace Museum in Beijing.

You may not be able to kiss the Blarney Stone right now, but you can tour the Blarney Castle from afar. You can also visit the Museum of Flight,  the Museum of Science, the Museum of Natural History,  the National Women's History Museum  and Boston's History of Science Museum .

While museums are often an inherently visual experience, there's a lot to be learned from archives of past lectures and tours like the ones preserved online by Nashville's Frist Museum , the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the Smithsonian American Art Museum,  the Frick , and others.

Explore national parks

While travel to National Parks is best avoided for the time being, you don't need to miss out on the scenery. Virtual Yosemite is absolutely stunning and one of the best, replete with audio. Both Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore offer virtual tours as well.

Digital safaris

Wildlife is a big draw for travelers, whether it's sighting some of the Big Five in Africa, glimpsing whales in North America, or introducing your children to new animals in person on a family safari . But if you're forays into the bush are grounded for now, many zoos and aquariums have created digital access to their habitats.

You can easily watch several live webcams of some of the nation’s greatest zoos and aquariums, including the  San Diego Zoo , Houston Zoo , Zoo Atlanta , the Tennessee Aquarium , and the Georgia Aquarium . Additionally you can see Canadian farm animals doing their thing , or you could watch Stella the Dog jump endlessly into huge piles of Maine leaves.

One of the wonders of virtual reality is that you get to explore entire worlds and have it feel as real as being there. Visually, anyway. One of these worlds is our very own, and if you’ve got an interest for exploring it in VR, you’re in the right place!

In this article I’m going to be talking about the 8 best Oculus Quest 2 travel games and experiences. Namely:

• National Geographic Explore VR
• 360 Travel Videos
• Google Earth VR
• Flow (Bonus Entry)

First, let’s talk about the native Oculus experiences in more detail so you can see where you want to be going!

1) National Geographic Explore VR

Spit on that virtual camera lens and wipe it clean as you experience the wonders in National Geographic Explore VR. As an explorer, you’ll have to visit locations and capture the same photographs as the one who came before you.

The VR experience that will have you demanding more. Like, seriously. The biggest criticism of the game is that it’s only got two locations for you to dive into.

• An expedition to Antartica
• Machu Picchu, Peru 

Although the game doesn’t have the best graphics out there, it’s still worth checking out by VR standards. Survive a snowstorm, keep still during a mummy worship, and experience much more with National Geographic Explore VR!

Since there’s not much replay value with only two locations, you might want to wait for a sale to really get the most bang for your buck.

2) ecosphere

ecoshpere is a collection of fantastic 360-degree exploration videos. But they’re not your typical 360 videos!

The ones in ecosphere are beautifully narrated documentaries that add to the element of immersion. You have over 10 episodes to download and start your virtual adventure. Learn more about locations such as Africa, Malaysia, and Indonesia from the comfort of your Oculus Quest 2.

What’s even more is that ecosphere is getting constant support with new updates and features, so the future for 360 travel is looking really good on this app!

There’s one big reason I’d like everybody to at least give Alcove a try: variety. Okay, there are two big reasons. It’s also free. But let’s talk about the first one more.

While not being big on high-end graphics, Alcove does a fantastic job of letting you go on a tour in virtual reality. The game includes virtual tours across hundreds of landscapes and beautiful sites around the world. Ride hot air balloons or go for long drives in VR.

What’s more is that you can even take to the seas of Australia and the Pacific Ocean!

That’s not even where the possibilities end. Alcove allows you to customize your personal vacation home in VR, and invite your friends over to appreciate it even more. 

Although the majority of minigames like Chess and Puzzles are single-player, Alcove is constantly receiving fresh updates and new features. The opportunity to do more with your friends may not be far off!

4) 360-Degree Travel Videos

These are the travel experiences you’re looking for if your main goal is to explore the world. Leaving out the gaming and interaction parts, 360-degree travel videos are available across the Internet and have plenty of thrill to offer.

How do they work? All you have to do is load the video from within your browser in your headset.

Oculus Browser will do just fine, but some Quest 2 users recommend using the Mozilla Firefox browser. They experience higher frame rates and an overall better VR tour experience.

Since the durations of many 360-degree tour videos are short, you can look for multiple videos and add them to a playlist. Then, simply hit play and let yourself be taken around the world from the comfort of your couch.

Best PCVR Travel Experiences for the Quest 2

Since we’re talking about the best travel experiences you can have on the Quest 2, it wouldn’t be fair to leave out the PCVR possibilities!

You can immerse yourself in PCVR experiences on your Quest 2 through PC streaming options such as Virtual Desktop or Oculus (Air) Link. If you are new to VR and want to know more about how these options work, check out this article .

6) Google Earth VR

First, let’s address the elephant in the room: Google Earth VR. When it comes to travelling experiences, everybody should have at least heard of this app.

Google Earth VR lets you travel the literal world in your VR body. You get to float around in any location and take in the marvelous sites created by man and nature anywhere!

As a bonus, this app comes with preloaded tours for selected locations like the Amazon River and The Grand Canyon. All you have to do is not forget to enjoy the ride.

So whether it’s the Eiffel Tower, Pyramids of Giza, or the entire Great Wall of China, Google Earth VR is something definitely worth trying out!

7) Realities

With additional add-ons that are just as free as the game, Realities is a mesmerizing historical VR experience.

This app takes you to a bunch of different locations that are incredibly detailed for a VR game and lets you explore what once was. Photorealism is at the core of Realities as it abandons the traditional 360-degree approach to VR experiences in favor of greater and more realistic immersion.

You’ll especially like this app if you’re interested in knowing what the less popular “tourist sites” are like!

8) Bonus Entry: Flow

Not everybody wants to travel for the fun, the thrill, or the exploration. Some people want to visit new locations for the serenity and to discover new ways to relax.

If your next trip across the world in VR is like that, then Flow is the app for you. The locations in this app revolve around what Iceland has to offer, mainly because of the natural scenery there . 

The features of Flow revolve around meditation and calmness. Even the chosen locations from around the world are an inspiration to help the human brain feel more calm.

How do you take a virtual field trip to Six Flags?

Like many other amusement parks, several Six Flags locations have allowed Google to do a Street View tour of their park. Google Street View is easy to navigate, but if you aren’t familiar with it and want to learn about all of the features read this article .

Of course, if you were planning a real trip to Six Flags, you wouldn’t go to just walk through the park.

And there’s no reason that your virtual tour has to be just a walkthrough either.

All you need to do to make a virtual tour into a full virtual vacation day is add in some virtual rides, carnival games, and at-home activities, all of which you will find tips and suggestions for below.

As you’re doing your walkthrough of the park, stop and take a virtual ride when you reach each attraction.

If you’re touring a park that has carnival games, set some up in your backyard or living room and take a break from the screen when you reach the game area.

Another great way to take a break from the screen is to plan some other amusement park themed projects and activities for your kids.

Not only will these activities make the trip more interactive and fun for your kids, but it will help you stretch a short virtual tour into a full day of fun at home.

If you’re planning a Busch Gardens virtual field trip, you’re going to want to check out the triple-launch roller coaster, Cheetah Hunt. 

Luckily, thanks to YouTube , you can take a virtual ride on it, and many other popular theme park rides, from home.

Finding virtual amusement park rides is easy. 

Just look through the ride section on the website for the park you plan to visit.  Then pick the rides you want to experience virtually and search for them on YouTube.  Use the term “POV” in your search to find first-person point of view videos of the rides.

Some videos are even done in 360° views.

Virtual Entertainment

Rides aren’t the only virtual resource you need to include to experience a theme park from home. 

What would a trip to Disney World be without watching a parade or seeing Mickey Mouse perform on stage?

Search on the entertainment section of the theme parks website to see what shows, parades, and more they have.

Then search for the name of each on YouTube to find videos of the live performances.

Video Tours of Resorts

If you’re taking a Hershey Park virtual field trip, you may want to take a quick tour of Hershey Lodge, Hershey Hotel, or the Hershey Camping Resort too.

While you’re on the theme parks website looking for rides and entertainment, make sure you check to see what accommodations they have too.   

Many theme parks have their own hotels and resorts that are worth checking out, and luckily there are a lot of YouTubers who have posted virtual tour videos of them too.  

Amusement Park Virtual Tour At-Home Activity Ideas

Sitting back and taking in the view of rides, shows, parades, and resorts is relaxing for us adults.  But most kids will start to get restless spending a day just watching videos between the virtual walking tour.

That’s why it’s great to take a short break once in a while to do an activity away from the screen too. Here are some ideas for theme park-related activities you can do at home.

• Face painting- many amusement parks have face painting booths, so why not pull out your own face paint when you see one on the virtual tour? You can go all out and learn how to make some fancy designs with these face painting tutorials, or just pick up a kit with some stencils.
• Theme park recipes- You can find recipes for some of your favorite Disney food and Universal studios food on their websites.  For other theme and amusement parks check Pinterest or Google for copy cat recipes.
• Family photos- look on the amusement parks website to see if they have any digital backdrops, like this one from Universal Studios .  Then use it as a background for your own photoshoot.
• Coloring/activity sheets- Universal Studios has coloring pages on their website, and Canada’s Wonderland has a few activity sheets too.  You can also find generic amusement park coloring sheets by doing a Google image search.
• Amusement park crafts – There are lots of amusement park craft ideas on Pinterest you can do too.

While these last two activity ideas won’t give your kids a break from the screen, they are a great way to keep kids engaged in the virtual tour.

• Scavenger hunt- make your own scavenger hunt sheet (like this one for Canada’s Wonderland ) by doing a virtual walkthrough and writing out some of the things you see.
• Bingo sheets- write out the names of some rides on bingo sheets, then have your kids bingo dab each ride as you reach it on your virtual tour.

DIY Carnival Games

Many amusement parks have carnival games spread throughout the park.  To see what kinds of games the park you will be virtually visiting has do a virtual walkthrough, or search on YouTube to get a better look at the games.

Once you know what games they have, search on Pinterest or Google to find DIY versions that you can make at home. 

You can have your kids play the games just for fun, or have prizes for them to win.  Make a simple prize bucket with some party favors and/or dollar store toys.

• Ring Toss – set up your own ring toss game, like this , with some unopened pop bottles (or empty ones filled with water) and anything you can find to use as a tossing ring.
• Peach Basket – make your own version of the Peach Basket game, by leaning a laundry basket or similarly shaped container up against a wall.  Angle it so that it is difficult (but not impossible) to get the ball in without it bouncing back out.
• Rebound – find a board, kids’ easel, tv tray, or something similar and lean it against a wall at a slight angle.  Place a bucket or laundry basket below it (see this website for an example).
• Gunball – make this game at home with a few plastic cups and a nerf gun.
• Milk Cans – While you can buy a classic milk can online, you could also just use a non-breakable vase, large sand pail, or a large juice jug with a ball that is just a bit smaller than the top opening to throw into it.
• Foul Shot – to create your own version of the Foul Shot game pick up a door basketball hoop from the dollar store.  Set it up somewhere that you can throw the ball in at a distance.
• Water gun race – to do your own water gun race, draw targets on a fence outside with sidewalk chalk.  Have your kids race to see who can erase the target first with water guns.
• Duck Pond – write a prize amount on the bottom of some dollar store rubber ducks with a sharpie marker.  Then float them in a kiddie pool, large tote, or even the bathtub and have your kids chose one.  
• Ski Ball – If you want an easy to make DIY arcade game, follow this design from Frugal Fun 4 Boys for a ski ball game made with cardboard and laundry baskets.

Follow Up Amusement Park Project Ideas

If you want to extend your virtual tour, or make it more educational, here are a few ideas for some follow up amusement park themed projects you can do after the trip.

• Design your own paper roller coaster or paper plate roller coaster .
• Create an original ride with drawings and a paragraph describing how it works.
• Design your own amusement park by making an amusement park map.
• Make a replicate of the amusement park you visited on Minecraft or a game like Roller Coaster Tycoon.
• Check on Roblox and see if anyone has made a game based on the amusement park you visited.  Compare their rides and layout to the real parks.   
• Make an ad, flyer, or brochure for the amusement park you visited.
• Write a review of the amusement park.
• Do a slide show of the amusement park rides to make your own virtual tour.

What Do You Need To Virtual Travel The World

Virtual touring the world is easy. All you need is a laptop, cellphone or tablet and an internet connection. You don’t need a VR set (virtual reality set), but if you have one it’s a bonus.

We recommend using Google Chrome web browser because some of these virtual tour websites are not in English. Chrome makes it really easy translating foreign languages to English or whatever language you prefer.

Lastly, have a little patience as some of these virtual tours take a bit longer to load.

Everyone’s heard of the Seven Wonders of the World. But did you know that there are two different lists for the 7 Wonders of the World?

No? We didn’t either. The list most people know is the New Seven Wonders of the World. But there’s also the Ancient Seven Wonders of the World.

It was built by the Roman Catholic community of Brazil following the end of World War I. The community was concerned about the growing ‘godlessness’ when Brazil officially became a republic and the church was officially separated from the state.

4. Petra, Jordan

Also known as the ‘Carved City’ or the ‘Lost City’, Petra is known as one of the oldest cities in the world. It is estimated that the city was established in the 4th century (312 BC) but was only discovered by Western civilisation in the 1800s.

Only 15% of Petra has been explored by archaeologists, so not much is known besides it being home to about 800 tombs.

It’s simply one of those places that you have to see to believe that it exists in real life. Petra is still on our travel bucket list, but this virtual tour is probably one of our favourites!

5. Taj Mahal, India

One look at the Taj Mahal and it’s easy to see why it’s a wonder. It’s considered to be one of the most magnificent masterpieces of architecture in the world. Besides that, it’s also a symbol of love. Don’t believe us? See the Taj Mahal in VR for yourself.

The emperor built it in remembrance of his third wife who passed away giving birth to their 14th child. Today the couple remains buried together beneath the main inner chamber of the Taj Mahal.

It took more than 22,000 workers, 1,000 elephants and 22 years to build this incredible structure. Now there are concerns that it will crumble into pieces as its wooden foundations are rotting away.

6. Rome Colosseum, Italy

Did you know that Italy has the most number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world? There are a total of 51 World Heritage sites within Italy of which the Colosseum is the most famous.

Historically, the Colosseum was a place where gladiator fights and executions took place in Ancient Rome. Today it stands as a symbol of power and majesty of the Roman Empire. It’s also one of the most popular tourists attraction in the world.

7. Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is famous for being the Lost City of the Incas. It is believed that this is where the Incas escaped to when the Spanish conquistadors arrived in the 16th century.

Besides its historical significance, Machu Picchu also showcases the Incas’ incredible mastery of stone. The stones used to construct some of the most beautiful structures in Machu Picchu were cut so precisely and wedged so closely together, that a credit card cannot be inserted between them.

Not only was this more aesthetically pleasing, it also has engineering advantages. The stones were designed to bounce through earthquake tremors and fall back into place. This was only possible because no mortar (or cement) was used and the reason why Machu Picchu still stands today.

8. The Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt

The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the most famous landmarks around the world. Its sheer colossal size and perfect symmetry makes you wonder how this world icon was constructed more than 4,500 years ago.

Today, the Pyramids of Giza are the only surviving members of the Ancient Seven Wonders of the World.

9. Kilimanjaro National Park, Tanzania

Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes in the world and also home to Africa’s highest mountain.

If you love hiking as much as we do, then Kilimanjaro is probably on your bucket list too. Close to 35,000 people attempt to hike Mount Kilimanjaro every year. But only 40% of them successfully reach the summit and around 5 to 15 people die every year attempting it.

There isn’t a proper virtual tour of Kilimanjaro , but you can get some awesome 360 panoramic views using Google Map street views. Just drag the little yellow man to the circles on the map to ‘explore’ the area.

10. Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa

Not only is the Drakensberg Mountains a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, it’s also a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. Drakensberg is culturally significant because it hides more than 20,000 San rock paintings inside its nooks and crevices.

These rock paintings are important because they represent the earliest form of human creativity. They also symbolise the beginning of art in the world today.

11. Bagan, Myanmar

Bagan is known as the ‘sea of temples’ because it has the largest concentration of Buddhist temples in the world. There were originally 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries built here in the 1000s and 1100s. But only 2,000 of them still exist today.

No one knows exactly how many terracotta warriors were made. But it’s been estimated that more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses were sculpted. And if that wasn’t amazing enough, each soldier has its own distinct facial features and were all built to life-size.

It took around 40 years to ‘build’ the entire army and its sole purpose was for protecting the emperor in his afterlife.

‘Acropolis’ translates into ‘high city’ in Greek. Most cities in ancient Greece had their city centres built on a mound or a hill. This is where they would build their important temples and where citizens could retreat to if under attack.

2. Compete for Best Holiday Decorator

The holidays aren’t complete without decorations. Though you and your crew might not have a collective office to decorate, you can still enjoy decorating your home offices together virtually!

Even better, gamify this seasonal pastime by hosting a decorating contest! Encourage team members to show up on a video call ready with their own seasonal items. On “Go,” let the decorating begin! Once decorations are placed, have each employee show off their festive spaces and take a vote for the winning design. 

Plus, this activity is a fantastic way to hear about employees’ holiday decorating traditions and favorite, festive items. Together, the teams’ offices will be transformed with holiday spirit to be displayed all season long!

3. Get Ready to Guess Who

After countless team video calls, you could probably spot each other out of a crowd. But, could you recognize your fellow office mate in a childhood photo? 

To organize a game of “Guess Who,” create a shared photo album with your team. Teammates can then upload photos of themself as a child during the holidays. This is especially fun for teams with a variety of generations! 

On a video chat, have the meeting host share each picture submitted to the entire team one by one. Then, everyone shares who they think is on screen. The employee with the most correct guesses is the winner!

4. Play a Festive Version of “This or That”

Do you have a team full of strong opinions? Whether you answered yes or no, this holiday themed game is sure to pull them out!

To play, ask players to choose between two related, but opposite options. On a video call, team members can drop their answers in the chat or share verbally. You might be surprised how strongly your staff feel about their choices!

6. Tell a Seasonal Story

How well does your team know a holiday story? Test your skills in this all things storytelling game!

To play, pair your employees into groups. Next, prompt one team at a time to tell the summary of a holiday story or movie with individual players saying one word at a time. Moreover, words cannot be repeated. As a result, each player must pay attention to every response.

Then, have all other teams take a guess at what story is being told! This activity is a great way to get your large team together and get everyone energized and communicating.

The larger the group, the harder the game gets! This story-based game is sure to bring laughs among your group, especially if team members are not telling the same story!

7. Name that Holiday Tune

Is anything more festive than holiday music? Incorporate festive songs of the season into a virtual holiday version of “name that tune.”

To organize this game, prepare a list of holiday songs. We recommend having team members submit their favorites! Once the playlist is selected, play the first few seconds of each song to the entire group. After each song segment, encourage team members to name the tune!

Determine the difficulty of each round by the number of seconds players hear each song. The shorter the audio clip, the harder the guess.

Warning, you might get a song or two stuck in your head from this game!

8. Host a Holiday Game of “Never Have I Ever”

Never Have I Ever is a popular icebreaker game that encourages players to be truthfully to past actions. Enjoy this crowd-favorite party game with your virtual team incorporating a festive twist!

Start the game with players holding up ten fingers on screen for all to see. Then, each team member will take a turn making a statement that starts with “never have I ever….” Players who have done the act stated must lower one finger. 

The last player with fingers held up is the winner!

Here are some Holiday “Never Have I Ever” prompts to get your group started:

• Enjoyed fruit cake
• Missed a holiday because I got stuck in an airport 
• Regifted a present
• Watched “Home Alone” more than 5 times in one month

Pro tip: encourage players to rest their elbows on a table during the game. Holding your hands up for a long time can get tiring!

9. Sing the Holiday “Doos”

Challenge your virtual team to a doo off! This musical game will test your team’s ability to not only sing on pitch, but guess hit holiday songs.

To organize this game, have players join a video call with two or three holiday songs in mind. Then, one by one, team members have to “doo” their way through a holiday song to the entire group, with the goal of having the tune named. But beware, singers must only use the word “doo” to belt their holiday hit!

Rotate singers and guessers to give everyone a chance in the spotlight. The team member who receives the most correct guesses by the end of the game is the doo champion. 

Laughs guaranteed, this activity will bring your team together with ample festive spirit!

10. Decipher Together in “Who Am I?”

From movies to music, there are countless endeared holiday characters. Favorites may include Frosty the Snowman or even The Grinch. 

Enjoy the classic game of “Who Am I?” full of clever guesses and descriptions with a festive twist. To prep, brainstorm a list of holiday characters to be randomly assigned to team members. Furthermore, determine the level of difficulty you want by your selection of characters.

Then, join a video call together and assign one “guesser” at a time. In the chat, share with everyone but the guesser their assigned character. Next, the guesser is to ask “yes” or “no” questions about themselves to the entire group. (Ex: Am I in a movie?)

Once the team member correctly guesses who they are, spread a little holiday cheer for their hard work and select a new guesser. This is a great bonding and creative thinking activity for teams of all sizes! 

11. Race for the Unwrapping Champion Title

The holidays are full of sweet treats. This challenge will test your team’s ability to dive into candies, but with a twist!

Each player will need just two things: a pair of fluffy, winter gloves and a bag of Hershey’s Kisses. If your team doesn’t live in a climate in need of winter gloves, consider providing a pair to each player ahead of time.

To play, instruct competitors to put on the gloves and set a timer. On “go,” each player races to unwrap as many Hershey’s Kisses as they can before the timer runs out. Be sure to have all participants’ hands visible to ensure no cheating!

Bonus activity: team up and create a relay version of the game to encourage team bonding.

12. Test How Well You Know Your Team

The Newlywed Game took game show television by storm in the 1960s. Famous for its partner style guessing, this game is the perfect addition to your virtual team’s activities this holiday season.

To prepare, collectively create a selection of holiday-related questions. For instance – what’s the most stressful part of the holidays? Then, pair your team off to join forces with a co-worker.

To play, the game host asks questions to all the partners like, “What’s partner A’s favorite holiday character?” Both partners individually write down their answer. Then, partners reveal their guess to see if their answers match. Matching answers win points and the team with the most points at the end of the game is crowned the winner!

Time will tell if Half-Life: Alyx will ever make it outside of the PC ecosystem. If you don't have a dedicated headset for desktop PC, the Meta Quest can be used to play Valve's singular experience via wired connection or wirelessly, the latter thanks to a recent update for Steam Link for Meta Quest . Performance will vary depending on your build specs, however, as well as the method of choice. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

If you have a Meta Quest 3 or a PlayStation VR 2, developer Skybound released platform-specific updates for each, offering better visuals and some quality-of-life features.

There are fever dreams and fever nightmares. Thumper definitely fits the second category. Introduced as possibly the most aggressive take on rhythm games to date, you're entrusted with a handful of actions as a space beetle going at full speed through psychedelic scenarios.

Even if you've played the original version, the VR rendition amps up the intensity of the visual and sound design that permeates the whole experience. You're tasked with learning and re-learning patterns until you can make progress, and then you do it all again as obstacles get harder to surpass. Very few games give you the relief that Thumper has in store once you manage to finish a level you've been stuck in for days.

Rez, first released back in 2002, is the sensory overload experience that keeps on giving. Rez Infinite, an HD version released in 2016 with VR compatibility, is the definitive edition of the classic on-rail shooter. Its emphasis on providing a synesthesia effect, as well as some VR-unique capabilities, make the difference.

The most notable feature is Area X, a mode made specifically for VR. In contrast to the original version--which also plays great with a headset--you're off the rail and free to move through a number of unique levels. Tetris Effect is excellent on every platform. Even if you aren't a fan of the original Tetris, you're bound to get lost in the immersive visuals and sounds as you slowly get better at lining up Tetrominoes. When you pair the experience with VR, however, the result is somehow even more special.

While there isn't a specific level or mode tailored solely for VR like the one Rez Infinite offers, Tetris Effect adapts quite naturally to your headset. You're now bound to move your head around and fully appreciate the often breathtaking vistas up close. Plus, with the additions of the Connected DLC, there's quite a lot to see and do even if you played the original when it first released.

Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil Village marks a big departure from the classic feel of the franchise, building upon the new foundation set by Resident Evil 7. And yet, it works wonders. Controlling Ethan Winters once more--probably one of the unluckiest protagonists in games--you're trusted into a house of nightmarish creatures, from vampires to cursed dolls.

Playing Resident Evil Village in VR heightens the tension and presents the whole experience in a new light. The VR rendition of Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 4 remake are worth trying on their own merits, but Village is different: It makes the best use of the newfound immersion, looks and runs great in the headset, and makes your visit to House Beneviento one you'll never forget.

No Man's Sky

Developer Hello Games is already busy working on its next big game, called Light No Fire , but No Man's Sky is far from being forgotten anytime soon. The past few years have seen the space sim grow in size and scope over and over, adding new ships, expeditions, and an array of mechanics that intertwine with anything from combat to crafting.

No Man's Sky is one of the best Xbox Game Pass games included in the subscription catalog. If you want to experience it in a new light, however, the VR version amps up the immersion to a great degree. If you were initially underwhelmed with the PlayStation VR 2 port, don't worry, as the developer released a major update to integrate Foveated Rendering, which makes the visuals a lot clearer as a result.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice

There might not be a Dishonored game for VR, but Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice gets fairly close in spirit. Primarily focused as a stealth-first experience, you wear the goth apparel of a vampire who has to infiltrate in a criminal underworld consuming people's blood and using all sorts of supernatural abilities.

Some skills are quite reminiscent of Dishonored, such as a Blink equivalent that lets you get to higher places or quickly fade from sight. Thankfully, there's plenty of original flair on display thanks to the World of Darkness' influence. Alongside the main objective, there are side missions to tackle and a fairly extensive upgrade path with multiple abilities to unlock. In case you're wondering, yes, you need to physically grab somebody's neck and lean on it to suck their blood. VR has come a long way.

What the Bat?

Some VR games want to offer overly serious, complex campaigns. And there's a time and moment for that. Sometimes, however, you just want a smaller slice of comedy. What the Bat is perfect for this.

The premise is simple: You have baseball bats for hands, for some reason. You're entrusted with a series of physical-heavy mini games, which include anything from fixing the TV to frying eggs with exhilarating results. It's a fresh take on the silliness you might have experienced outside of VR with What the Golf.

Gran Turismo 7

• Developer : Polyphony Digital
• VR Intensity : 5

One of the most exclusive VR experiences, requiring both a PlayStation 5 and a PlayStation VR 2, happens to be one of the best VR games out there. If you enjoy the finesse and precision that Gran Turismo 7 demands, you're in luck, as experiencing the races with a headset on only makes it all better.

Whether you use the DualShock controller or a racing wheel, wearing the PlayStation VR 2 increases the immersion of races, putting you front and center. Looking out the window as you catch the sunset will make every race you end in second place a lot less painful.

The Room VR: A Dark Matter

Sometimes, after a long day, all you want to do is unwind. There are plenty of VR games to distract yourself for a while or cut through floating blocks while following a rhythm. But if you want to use whatever remaining energy you have to solve puzzles instead, The Room VR: A Dark Matter will be perfect for you.

The disappearance of an Egyptologist kicks off a series of events involving a police investigation. You're tasked with uncovering what happened as you interact with eerie and cryptic mechanisms. Interactivity is heightened in VR, with the downside that you won't have fast access to your phone to search for a puzzle answer unless you take the headset off.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR

Yes, it's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in VR. Even though it seems safe to assume you've already played Skyrim for countless hours, it's easy to wonder whether or not you should replay Skyrim in VR .

Simply put, the VR treatment of Bethesda's epic is quite a sight to behold. The PlayStation VR version might feel outdated by today's standards, especially if you're used to newer headsets, so it's recommended to opt for a PC VR headset instead. Regardless of your platform of use, you're bound to lose dozens of hours wandering around Tamriel again, if only for good old nostalgia's sake.

Cosmonious High

If you enjoyed games like Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator, developer Owlchemy Labs' latest makes for an intriguing departure that retains the heart of its previous works.

Enrolled in an alien high school, you make use of powers to discover the source of malfunctions happening in the halls and classrooms. There are different spots around the school where you can put your powers to the test, while also making use of gesture-based interactions with your fellow students. It's all wrapped in a vibrant art style to boot, making for a lighthearted adventure worth enrolling for.

There might not be a Counter-Strike game for VR, but Pavlov VR gets fairly close. This multiplayer shooter combines realistic reloading with fast-paced combat, making for nerve-wracking confrontations with people all around the world.

As Pavlov continues to be in early access, at least on PC, the experience is frequently being updated with new maps, weapons, and features. All in all, it has a fairly approachable barrier of entry--one that only gets more complex the better you become while shooting and reloading in VR while playing with other people.

Superhot VR

If there's one premise that could be further explored in VR, that is Superhot's. Time moves only when you move, which is perfect for those who may have not built enough resistance to motion sickness yet. But that doesn't mean the experience is any less tense or strategic.

Superhot VR isn't just a simple port, but rather a separate game that was redesigned from the ground up with the possibilities of VR in mind. If you haven't played the classic or you've been itching for an excuse to return to its world, this is a great opportunity to do so. This version also includes the Superhot Forever update, with adds replayable challenges and some tough endless levels.

Star Wars Squadrons

Piloting a TIE Fighter in VR is a no-brainer, and Star Wars: Squadrons lets you do more than just that. Dogfighting while wearing a headset is as exhilarating as you'd expect, allowing you to get up close and personal against dozens of ships in outer space.

The VR version also includes head-tracking, which can be a bit tough to parse through if you don't have a steady VR legs. But once you get used to it, you'll be wondering why Star Wars: Squadrons isn't available on PSVR 2 or the later Meta Quest headsets, considering the standout feelings that it manages to offer the moment you jump into your ship.

Blade and Sorcery

If you have any interest in VR, it's likely that you've come across Blade and Sorcery at some point. This physics-driven medieval fantasy sandbox is quite complex, but at its heart, it's a hilariously crude exposure to the possibilities of VR.

You can make use of melee, magic, and ranged combat in an array of violent ways. Alongside the more rudimentary maps where you fight against others in an arena, the game is regularly updated with new modes and features, including the recent addition of dungeons to plunge into. If you own a Meta Quest headset, Blade and Sorcery: Nomad is a lighter version that can offer similar thrills, if you don't mind a lower graphic quality, fewer enemies on screen, and a few other compromises.

Walkabout Mini Golf

Walkabout Mini Golf, first released for PC VR and then ported to PlayStation VR 2 and Meta Quest headsets, does exactly what it says in the name: It's a breezy mini-golf game in VR where you partake in matches across dozens of courses.

Physics play a big part in the experience, but so does the possibility of playing with others in multiplayer. If you're looking to chill or start a new Friday night routine with friends, you can't go wrong with some virtual mini-golf.

Supernatural

If you're not enticed by the idea of going to the gym but still want to get some workout done at home, Supernatural is a much more fitness-focused experience than other cardio-intensive games. Yes, the gameplay is fairly similar to the likes of Beat Saber, especially with the use of licensed music. But there's more than meets the eye if you want to organize an actual routine for yourself.

As you're punching the air and squatting to dodge obstacles, Supernatural uses real-world locations as a background. There are coaches who can guide you with a voice over during workouts, as well as guidance for meditation and stretching. In contrast to the rest of our best VR games list, Supernatural requires a $9.99 monthly subscription, although there's a 14-day trial that you can opt out of at any time to try it out.

Moss: Book 2

The first Moss was a sensation back in 2018, inviting you to provide guidance for an adorable mouse in a thrilling adventure. The use of VR was its biggest draw, as it mixed first and third-person perspectives as you solved puzzles and helped the mouse in her quest.

Moss: Book 2 expands on its predecessor's ideas, while also ramping up the combat aspect of the adventure. It also picks up right after the events of the first Moss, so if you've been looking for a chance to reunite with the tiny hero, this is your chance.

Pistol Whip

• Developer : Cloudhead Games

Pistol Whip is more than just "Beat Saber but with guns." The rhythm shooter has you traversing through an array of levels in an on-rail fashion as enemies show up from all sides to try and take you down. Your best defense is to fire a weapon, which can vary in type and number depending on which mode you're playing, as well as your own physical prowess to dodge upcoming projectiles.

If your actions stick to the rhythm of the song in the background, you'll gain bonus points for your overall score. In practice, it becomes natural to do so, as levels are designed to fit the song, reacting to its crescendos and its beats. Depending on your difficulty of choice, however, Pistol Whip can be one of the most intense VR games out there. Make sure to have a water bottle at hand.

Before Your Eyes

Before Your Eyes was one of GameSpot's best games of 2021 , and for good reason. This narrative-driven story makes use of a simple, yet masterfully implemented mechanic: You progress through the game by blinking.

For PC users, this is done by using your webcam, while in mobile, the front camera becomes the main device. On PlayStation VR 2, however, Before Your Eyes uses the headset's eye-tracking to capture your blinking. The headset isn't exactly waterproof, and the story is quite emotive, to say the least, so proceed with caution.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

One of the best co-op experiences out there is even better in VR. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes invites you to disarm dangerous devices under a time limit as another person helps you while reading a manual. If at some point you were tempted to read the manual yourself, well, that will become harder with the headset on.

This VR rendition is a good example of added immersion, as you can physically move the device with the controllers, adding to the tension of trying to find the right button or mistakenly cutting something that you shouldn't.

Asgard's Wrath 2

Asgard's Wrath 2 is one of the best VR games out now. Released in December 2023, this RPG is included for free when you purchase a Meta Quest 3. It's not just a tech demo, however, but a lengthy experience filled with gorgeous set pieces and surprising depth.

It's hard to describe Asgard's Wrath 2 succinctly, considering it contains a multitude of mechanics. There's wall running, a grappling hook, and swords and magic. You name it. If you're looking for an RPG that will keep you busy for long periods of time, search no further.
