Residents, tourists and job-seekers are among those who will benefit as the UAE rolled out its largest set of residence visa and entry reforms. The Advanced Visa System was implemented on October 4.

According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), the new scheme includes more than 15 types of visas, such as those for tourists, job-seekers, Golden and Green residencies and entry permits for truck drivers through land ports.

This guide explains the different visas, what has changed, targeted categories and approximate cost (fees have been calculated as per information available on the ICP and GDRFA websites; and inputs from typing centre agents and experts. They may vary.)

This five-year visa targets skilled employees, freelancers and investors. The self-sponsored residency allows holders to sponsor their spouses, children and first-degree relatives.

>> Freelancers need a permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. They need proof of income (minimum Dh360,000 annually over last two years), or prove financial solvency throughout their stay in the UAE.

>> Skilled employees need to be classified in the first, second or third occupational level as per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) and have a minimum monthly salary of Dh15,000.

Total cost: Dh3,175 (Approximate cost includes medical testing, visa and Emirates ID fees)

Job exploration visa

Single-entry permit targets young talents and skilled professionals. It is issued for 60, 90 or 120 days. The visa is granted to those classified in the first, second or third skill level as per Mohre. Fresh graduates from the best 500 universities in the world can apply as well, and candidates should have earned at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.

Total cost including Dh1,025 security deposit:

  • 60 days: Dh1,495
  • 90 days: Dh1,655
  • 120 days: Dh1,815

Business entry visa

Single-entry visa is issued for 60, 90 or 120 days. It does not require a sponsor or host and encourages investors and entrepreneurs to explore business and investment opportunities in the UAE.

Total cost including security deposit:

5-year multi-entry tourist visa for all nationalities

Holders of this visa will be able to stay in the UAE for up to 90 continuous days, and it may be extended for a similar period. The entire period of stay should not exceed 180 days in a year.

This visa requires proof of having a bank balance of $4,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies during a six-month period prior to submitting the application.

Cost: Dh650 (without insurance)

Golden Visa

>> Skilled professionals: Minimum monthly salary requirement reduced from Dh50,000 to Dh30,000

>> Investors: Property worth at least Dh2 million, even with a loan from specific local banks. Off-plan properties are allowed from approved local real estate companies

>> Main benefit: Staying outside the UAE for over six months won’t affect visa validity.

Cost: Dh4,625 (Approximate cost includes medical testing, visa and Emirates ID fees)

Following are the different types of Dubai tourist visa for Indians based on the stay duration and entry type:

UAE (Dubai) Transit Visa: UAE offers two kinds of transit visas: a 48-hour option and a 96-hour one. UAE Visa Application Process Through Airlines

Visa services offered by -

  • Etihad Airways
  • Emirates Airline

While the specific process might differ depending on the airline you choose, here's a general breakdown of the steps involved in applying for a UAE visa through most airlines:

Step 1: Airline Website: Head to the official website of your chosen airline.

Step 2: Book Your Flight: You'll typically need a confirmed flight reservation before initiating the visa application process.

Step 3: Locate Visa Application: Look for a dedicated section for visa applications. On Emirates' website, for instance, you can find this option under "Manage Booking".

Step 4: Complete the Application Form: This form will require your personal details and information about your trip, such as arrival and departure dates. Fill it out accurately and comprehensively.

Step 5: Upload Required Documents: Prepare and upload scanned copies of all the required documents, which may include your passport, a recent passport-sized photograph, and your confirmed flight ticket.

Step 6: Review and Verify: Carefully review all the information you've entered to ensure there are no errors or typos. Inaccuracies can delay your application processing.

Step 7: Pay the Visa Fee: Once everything is confirmed, proceed to pay the visa application fee. Be aware that some airlines might add a surcharge for using international credit cards for transactions in UAE Dirhams (AED).

By following these steps, you can initiate your UAE visa application process conveniently through your chosen airline. Remember to check the specific requirements and instructions on the airline's website for any variations.

Depending on the airline you apply through, you'll either receive your visa via email or upon arrival at the airport.

Apply for a UAE (Dubai) Visa through Authorised Vendors

Applying for a UAE visa through authorised vendors can be a convenient option, especially if you prefer not to handle the process yourself. Here's a breakdown of the general steps involved:

Teleport’s Expert Tip

Always verify the legitimacy of travel agents before making any payments or sharing official documents. Wait until you're completely confident that the agent is genuine before proceeding with payments or document sharing.

Step 1: Choose a Vendor:

Research authorised visa vendors in your area or online. Look for reputable companies with a good track record. Consider factors like processing speed, fees, customer service reviews, and any additional services offered.

Step 2: Contact the Vendor:

Get in touch with the chosen vendor through their website, email, or phone call.

Explain your situation (nationality, purpose of visit, desired visa type) and inquire about their services.

Step 3: Gather Required Documents:

The specific documents needed will vary depending on your nationality and visa type. However, common requirements include:

  • Valid passport (with at least 6 months validity)
  • Photographs

Step 4: Complete the Application Form:

The vendor may have their own application form or use the official UAE government form. Provide accurate and complete information.

Step 5: Submit Documents and Fees:

Submit all required documents (scanned copies or originals depending on the vendor's instructions) along with the visa processing fee and any additional service charges.

Step 6: Track Your Application:

The vendor will handle the communication with the UAE immigration authorities.

Inquire about their process for tracking application status and estimated processing times.

Step 7: Visa Collection:

Upon visa approval, the vendor will inform you and arrange for visa collection (either electronically or through pick-up at their office).

Additional Tips:

  • Double-check all deadlines and ensure your documents meet validity requirements.
  • Clarify any fees upfront, including government visa fees, service charges, and potential surcharges for using specific payment methods.
  • Ask about any additional support services offered by the vendor, such as assistance with booking hotels or airport transfers.

To initiate the Dubai visa application process, Indian citizens need to provide the following essential documents:

If you're only at the airport for four hours or less, you don't need a transit visa for the UAE.

You'll only need a transit visa if you plan to leave the airport during your Emirates layover. Transit visas are available for 48 or 96 hours.

48-Hour Transit Visas

Passengers transiting through the UAE's airports can obtain a 48-hour transit visa free of charge. This visa must be applied for in advance through a UAE-based airline. It is important to note that this visa cannot be extended or renewed. Its validity lasts for 48 hours from entry into the UAE, and departure must occur within this timeframe.

To obtain a 48-hour transit visa, you must have:

  • A passport or travel document with a minimum validity of three months.
  • A photo of yourself against a white background.
  • An onward ticket booking to a third destination, different from your point of origin.

96-Hour Transit Visas

Passengers transiting through the UAE's airports can obtain a 96-hour transit visa for a fee of AED 50. Similar to the 48-hour visa, this visa must be applied for in advance through a UAE-based airline and is non-expandable and non-renewable. Its validity lasts for 96 hours from entry into the UAE, and departure must occur within this timeframe.

To obtain a 96-hour transit visa, you must have:

  • A passport or travel document with a minimum validity of six months.

Track UAE (Dubai) Visa Status using Government Portal

Yes, You can extend your visa for an additional 30 days, with a maximum total stay of 120 days within a year.  The possibility of extension depends on your current visa type. Tourist visas are generally the most extendable, while others like work visas might have specific renewal procedures. You cannot extend an expired visa. It's crucial to apply before your current visa reaches its expiry date. There might be grace periods and fines associated with overstaying.

Application Process:

  • Gather Documents: You'll need your passport (original and copy), visa application form, coloured passport-sized photographs, and payment for the extension fee (around AED 1000).
  • Online: Many government websites like GDRFAD ( https://gdrfad.gov.ae/en ) or specific emirates' immigration departments ( https://icp.gov.ae/en/ ) offer online visa extension options.
  • Agents: Authorised visa agents can assist with the application process for a fee.
  • Submit Application and Pay Fees: Once you've chosen the method, submit your application and pay the relevant fees. The fee for UAE visa extension is AED 1000.
  • Collect Your Extended Visa: Upon approval (usually within 3-5 working days), you can download your e-visa or collect your updated passport with the extension stamp depending on the application method.

Here are some common reasons why a UAE visa application may be rejected:

  • Incomplete or Inaccurate Application: Ensure thorough completion of the application form, attaching all required documentation before submission. Any inaccuracies or omissions may lead to visa refusal.
  • Past Visa Violations: Previous breaches of UAE visa regulations, such as illegal employment or visa overstay, can result in visa denial.
  • Security Concerns: Visa applications may be rejected if immigration authorities have suspicions or concerns regarding an applicant's security background.

If your previous UAE E-visa application was denied, you have the option to reapply. However, it's crucial to understand the reasons for the initial rejection and address them before submitting a new application. Review any rejection notices or communications from UAE immigration authorities for specific feedback.

To avoid another rejection, ensure that your new application is error-free and meets all requirements.

Before reapplying for a UAE E-visa, gather the necessary documents:

  • Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your planned entry date into the UAE and has two blank pages for visa stamping.
  • Provide a scanned copy of your passport's personal information page.
  • Have a credit/debit card or PayPal account ready to pay the Dubai tourist visa fees.
  • Use a current email address to receive your UAE E-visa.

When reapplying:

  • Address any issues: Correct any mistakes or deficiencies from your previous application. Make sure all required documents mentioned above are accurate and complete.
  • Provide additional information: If possible, include any extra details or documents that could strengthen your application.
  • Seek assistance if needed: If you're unsure about why your application was rejected or need guidance, consider reaching out to UAE Immigration Services for clarification or assistance before reapplying.

If your UAE e-visa application is rejected there isn't a formal process for appealing the decision. Typically, if your UAE e-visa is denied, you will receive notification outlining the reasons for the rejection. If you believe the denial occurred due to misinformation or an assessment error, you may consider reaching out to the UAE embassy or consulate for clarification and resolution.

Upon arrival at the UAE airport, it's important to follow these steps for a smooth and hassle-free experience:

  • Ensure Travel Documents are Ready: Have your passport and a valid UAE visit visa readily available for quick verification by immigration authorities. It's advisable to carry physical printouts of these documents or ensure they are easily accessible on your mobile device.
  • Understand UAE (Dubai) Regulations: Proceed to the customs area if you have items to declare or if your baggage requires inspection. Familiarise yourself with the UAE (Dubai) Customs Regulations , which offer information on various services, duty-free shopping options, and traveller facilities.
  • Follow Unaccompanied Minor Guidelines: If you are travelling as an unaccompanied minor, remain with your designated flight attendant for safety. Upon arrival, identify your assigned adult at the destination airport to ensure a secure transition.

In summary, this guide simplifies the process of obtaining a visa for Dubai. Simply follow the steps that align with your travel plans, and you'll soon be exploring the wonders of Dubai's captivating cityscape and rich culture.

Ensure utmost accuracy when filling out the application, particularly when entering personal information and email addresses/whatsapp number. Timely verification of your email is crucial, as it serves as the primary communication channel for updates on your visa application status.

The national museum contains artefacts from trading civilisations that have existed in this region since 5000 BC. Ras Al Khaimah is one of the few places that has continuously been inhabited throughout its history, making it one of the longest-settled places in the world. The museum exhibits highlight the long trading history of the Emirate. According to Visit Ras Al Khaimah, the museum was previously the primary residence of the ruling family.

Timings: 8am to 6pm

4. Flamingo Beach

What is the price of crude oil today?

WTI futures traded at $85.00 per barrel, as of 9 a.m. ET. Year to date, WTI prices are up by 15.74%.

Brent futures traded around $89.92/bbl, a drop of 1.90% in the last 24 hours. Year to date, Brent prices are up by 13.74%.

What is the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil price today?

WTI futures fell by 2.18% to $85.00/bbl, as of 9 a.m. ET.

WTI oil price chart

West Texas Intermediate prices have drifted lower in 2024, but prices are up 33.67% over the past three years.

WTI crude fell to its 52-week low of $64.00 per barrel on May 3, 2023. It reached its 52-week high of $95.52 on Sep. 27, 2023. That’s 11.01% higher than the current futures price.

Brent crude oil price

Brent futures fell by 1.90% to $89.92/bbl, as of 9 a.m. ET.

Brent crude chart

Brent crude oil is generally subject to the same supply and demand factors that influence WTI crude prices, so the long-term price chart looks extremely similar to the WTI chart.

Brent crude oil prices hit their all-time high of $147.50/bbl during the oil market boom in July 2008. However, WTI futures contract prices dropped to as low as negative $40/bbl on April 20, 2020, driven largely by a lack of U.S. storage options during the COVID-19 pandemic. Brent futures contracts remained well above zero, bottoming at around $25/bbl that day.

Brent crude fell to its 52-week low of $68.20 per barrel on May 3, 2023. It reached its 52-week high of $96.62 on Sep. 27, 2023. That’s 0.07% higher than the current futures price.

What is crude oil? And what is crude used for?

Crude oil is one of the most important commodities in the world, serving as a key energy source and as a raw material used to produce plastics, chemicals and other products. Nearly all the crude oil imported or produced in the U.S. is refined into petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel fuel and heating oil.

The prices of U.S. WTI crude oil and international Brent crude oil are influenced by several factors that can change the market’s supply and demand balance.

The weather in the U.S. market can drastically alter near-term demand for heating oil and natural gas, sending crude oil prices higher.

Natural disasters and geopolitical conflicts worldwide can disrupt production and create oil supply shortages. The U.S. and global economies experience much higher industrial energy demand during periods of strong economic growth and lower demand during economic downturns. Finally, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries can significantly alter global crude oil supplies by increasing or cutting production.

WTI crude is a blend of oils extracted from U.S. oilfields in Texas, North Dakota and Louisiana and is delivered to Cushing, Oklahoma.

WTI oil has an American Petroleum Institute gravity of 39.6 degrees, considered “light.” WTI also has a sulfur content of just 0.24%, making it very “sweet.” WTI crude oil is typically the benchmark for U.S. oil prices in the trading world.

Brent crude

Brent crude is a sweet, light blend of oils extracted from the North Sea near Europe.

Brent crude is oil extracted from the Brent, Ekofisk, Forties and Oseberg oil fields. Brent has an API gravity of 38 degrees and a sulfur content of 0.4%, making it slightly heavier and less sweet than WTI. Brent is typically used as a benchmark for international oil markets, such as markets in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

WTI vs. Brent crude

WTI and Brent crude oil blends are both sweet, light crude oil bends used as benchmarks in financial markets. However, there are five key differences between WTI and Brent:

  • Extraction: WTI is extracted from U.S. oilfields in Texas, North Dakota and Louisiana, while Brent crude is extracted from the North Sea near Europe.
  • Composition: WTI is slightly lighter and sweeter than Brent oil.
  • Geopolitics: WTI prices are more heavily influenced by U.S. politics and policies, while international politics and embargoes have a greater influence on Brent prices.
  • Exchange: Brent crude futures contracts are primarily traded on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), while WTI futures contracts are primarily traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).
  • Pricing: WTI and Brent crude oil prices are very highly correlated, but Brent oil has historically traded at a slight pricing premium to WTI.

Brent Crude/WTI spread

The difference between the spot price of Brent crude and WTI crude is called the Brent/WTI spread.

The Brent/WTI spread has historically ranged between $4/bbl and $8/bbl, but it can expand or contract based on factors related to U.S. and international supply and demand conditions. For example, the Brent/WTI spread hit nearly $14/bbl in April 2011 when protests sparked market fears of significant oil supply disruptions in the Middle East.

What are oil futures?

One of the most popular ways investors speculate on crude oil and other commodity prices is by trading futures contracts. Futures contracts are agreements to buy or sell a standardized amount of an asset at a specific price on a particular future date.

WTI crude futures

The most popular WTI crude oil futures contracts are traded on the NYMEX. Each CL contract represents 1,000 barrels of oil, and the contracts trade Sunday to Friday from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. U.S. ET.

Brent crude futures

The most popular Brent Crude Oil futures contracts are traded on the ICE under the symbol B, but investors can also trade the contracts on the CME Globex trading platform under the symbol BZ. Trading hours for Brent futures on CME are the same as WTI futures: Sunday to Friday from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. U.S. ET. But Brent futures on ICE trade from 8 p.m. to 6 p.m. U.S. ET on ICE business days.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Saudi Arabian oil is neither WTI, extracted in the U.S., nor Brent, extracted in the North Sea near Europe. Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company , Saudi Aramco, uses the Dubai/Oman crude oil benchmark when pricing its oil for delivery to Asia.

Futures contracts are agreements to buy or sell a standardized amount of an asset at a specific price on a specific future date. WTI and Brent futures contracts each represent 1,000 barrels of oil per contract.

To buy and sell crude oil futures contracts, you must open a brokerage account that offers commodity futures trading. The primary futures contracts for WTI crude oil trades on the NYMEX under CL. The primary futures contracts for Brent crude oil trades on the ICE under the symbol B.
