The Campus Visit Experience

We look forward to sharing Wake Forest with you!

From June 3-June 14 , at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., we will offer one-hour walking tours of the Wake Forest campus, led by one of our current WFU student tour guides.

From June 17-August 9 , join us for an information session and walking tour of the Wake Forest campus. This two-hour visit experience will be offered Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 2-4 p.m.

Information sessions—where you will receive an overview of Wake Forest and the admissions process—will be held prior to the campus tours. The one-hour information sessions start at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday-Friday, followed by the one-hour campus tours at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, Monday-Friday.

Wake Downtown

Wake Downtown does not offer guided tours during the summer; however, the building is available for self-guided tours Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. There are materials at the lobby desk and QR codes throughout the building, which lead to videos and additional information about the courses and research taking place here. If you have questions during, or following, your self-guided tour, please feel free to stop by the administrative suite on the first floor to speak with a member of the Wake Downtown team. Guided tours will resume in September. Planning Your Visit

Wake Forest’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions is dedicated to accessibility in our campus-visit experiences. If you need assistance with accessibility or have accessibility questions, please contact Senior Associate Dean Dawn Calhoun at [email protected] or 336-758-5201 at least three working days in advance of your visit. Thank you!

We are delighted you will be visiting Wake Forest University and look forward to seeing you!

Welcome to Wake Forest, P’28s: Important Dates and Details

Bottom Line, Up Front

  • The  Early Decision website  is live for your students, and the  Incoming Families website  is live for you. The  newstudents.wfu.edu website  for the Class of 2028 will launch May 1st and will include important information and action items for students and families. (Note that the New Students website is being updated as we speak, so the information and dates currently on the website are for last year’s Class of 2027.)
  • Move-In, Orientation, and Family Weekend dates are included in this message; we encourage families to make flexible travel arrangements so students can consider Pre-Orientation programs before move-in.
  • International families, please consult the information about international student arrivals.
  • Action item: We need each parent or guardian to log into our family record system, Wake Network, to verify your family record (if you have not already done so).
  • We encourage parents and families to familiarize yourself with resources such as  parents.wfu.edu , the  incoming families website ,  How We Communicate , the  Daily Deac blog , and the  Office of Family Engagement and Family Communications .

Dear parents and families of Early Decision students,

We are so thrilled your students will be joining us as members of the Class of 2028! Please allow us to introduce ourselves: we are  Dr. Betsy Chapman  (’92, MA ’94), Executive Director of Family Communications, and  Dr. Cherise James , Director of Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs. In her role with family communications, Dr. Chapman will be sharing messages directly with parents and families from this point until your students graduate. And in her work with student Orientation programming, Dr. James will be in touch with your students throughout the spring and summer.

We wanted to send a co-authored email to all Early Decision families to bring a few items to your attention as you prepare for your students to join us in August.

Early Decision website and New Students website

We are excited to share our newly created  Early Decision website  (for students) and  Incoming Families website  (for you) to keep you informed prior to the May 1st launch of our official Class of 2028  New Students website .  You should note that the New Students website is being updated as we speak, so the information and dates currently on the website are for the Class of 2027 . Some new families have found it helpful to get a sense of what their student’s summer might look like as they prepare for their entry into the Wake Forest community.  But please be aware that dates currently on that site are from last summer .

Move-In Dates

We also want to share some important tentative Move-In dates with you:

  • Wake Forest offers a variety of outstanding  Pre-Orientation programs  to our incoming students. These experiences are intended to provide small group interactions and will allow your students to connect with other new Deacs prior to the start of Orientation.  Students participating in optional Pre-Orientation programs will move in on Friday, August 16th or Saturday, August 17th . Those students will receive move-in instructions ( including their assigned date and time frame; students do not get to choose their date ) in mid-July directly from the  Office of Residence Life and Housing .
  • Information about all these Pre-Orientation experiences  will be communicated to your student via their WFU email in the next 2-3 weeks.
  • ***We ask that you  delay finalizing your travel plans until your student has considered Pre-Orientation experiences  and has final communication from Residence Life and Housing about their approved move-in date.***
  • The Pre-Orientation registration process will launch on May 1st  and will be available to students at  newstudents.wfu.edu .
  • International students must arrive on Saturday, August 17 between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. EST  See “Important Message for International Students” later in this message.
  • New and transfer students not participating in Pre-Orientation programs will move in Wednesday, August 21st . Check-In and Move-In Assistance will be available from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Note: All students must be moved in by 1 p.m.
  • Other students may be approved to move in earlier, such as student-athletes. If your student is approved for early move-in, instructions, including their move-in date, will be sent to your student later this summer from the  Office of Residence Life and Housing .

Orientation Dates:

  • In person Orientation for all New and Transfer Students begins August 21st .  Orientation for new and transfer students is mandatory.
  • There will also be a  mandatory online Orientation  for all incoming students to  complete during the summer . Information about the online Orientation will be shared with students after July 1.
  • There will also be  in-person Orientation events for students  from August 21-26.
  • August 21-22: Orientation for Parents and Families . We will have some  in-person Orientation activities for parents and families  on the evening of  Wednesday, August 21st  through the evening of  Thursday, August 22nd . Families should plan to depart late Thursday night or Friday morning, as students will be involved in their own Orientation programming.  While parent and family Orientation sessions are not mandatory, we strongly encourage attendance if your family’s schedule allows.  Information about all these sessions will be available closer to July.
  • August 26: First Day of Classes  (i.e., FDOC)

Family Weekend — September 27-29:

  • Family Weekend  will be held September 27-29 . Family Weekend is planned and facilitated by the Division of Campus Life. The weekend is scheduled in conjunction with our football game against Louisiana; more information about Family Weekend will be available in early summer. Your family may wish to begin securing your lodging for Family Weekend now.

Important Message for Families of International Students:

  • The Center for Immigration Services & Support (ISS) will host a required new international student orientation.  All new international students are required to attend Connect@Wake from Saturday, August 17 through Tuesday, August 20 . Connect@Wake is the mandatory orientation for new undergraduate international students with F-1 or J-1 visa status who are attending Wake Forest University for the first time.  International students must arrive on Saturday, August 17 between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. EST .
  • ISS will communicate details regarding visa status and the Connect@Wake schedule of activities to new international students through their WFU email account. Additional information will be added to the  Connect@Wake website  throughout the spring semester. International students should reach out to ISS ( [email protected] ) regarding any questions, and should continue to monitor their ISSDeacs account for updates.  For now, international students need to take action in the ISSDeacs system to request an I-20 or DS-2019 . The ISS team looks forward to welcoming our new class of Demon Deacons to campus.

A few important announcements and resources to put on your radar:

  • ACTION ITEM FOR FAMILIES : So that we are certain we have correct contact information for your family (to reach you in an emergency, to send important Wake Forest news, or to send information about Wake Forest events in your home area),  we need each parent or guardian to log into our family record system, Wake Network, to verify your family record. Your family can find instructions on how to do this  here .
  • Action item for students : In March, once your student has their Wake Forest email address, they will be prompted to complete some of their new student onboarding steps through a platform called  Workday . This is also the system they will use later in the summer to register for their fall courses.
  • New Student Receptions : This summer, a series of virtual and in-person receptions for new students and their families will be held across the country. We hope that every incoming family will join us at the virtual option (or watch the recording after the event) and that you’ll also register for a local reception should one be offered in your area. Please check the  New Student Receptions  page on May 1st for a list of events and to register. Note that events will be added throughout June, so check the website frequently for additions.
  • There is a comprehensive website for families  parents.wfu.edu ; we also have an  incoming families website  that shares information until the New Students site launches on May 1st.
  • Please read the  How We Communicate website . This tells you  how to sign up for Campus Safety Alerts , which is something you’ll want to do, and it also shares how we like to work with families, and when and how you might hear from Wake Forest.
  • We encourage you to sign up to receive the  Daily Deac blog , which shares important news, offers advice about supporting your students, and covers a variety of WFU activities and events to help you get a sense of campus life. You can subscribe to the Daily Deac and have it sent to your inbox each weekday.
  • College has a lot of terms and acronyms, some of which have changed over the last 20+ years. Please use our  A-Z of WFU  as a resource to understand terms, departments, processes, and roles at the University.
  • Need to get in touch with someone on campus? We have a comprehensive  Who to Contact For  website; you can also contact the  Office of Family Engagement  or  Family Communications  or email us at  [email protected] .
  • From the May 1 launch of the New Students website up to Move-In,  families will be sent a weekly email from Dr. Chapman about due dates and action items for families , as well as general information we hope will be helpful. Your students will be receiving similar email communications from Dr. James about things they need to do over the summer.  Please encourage your student to get in the habit of checking their WFU email regularly . All messages sent to students or families will be posted on the Parents & Families section of the  New Students website . While the goal is for your student to be on top of deadlines, we want to make sure that you also have access to the information they receive.

Finally, a reminder about the calendar: Use a pencil, not a pen.

If we learned anything in the past several years, it’s been the importance of flexibility. Dates in emails and on websites are accurate at the time of publication, but the University will adjust them if needed. The New Students website (starting May 1st) will be your place for the most up-to-date information.

This is an exciting time for students and families alike, and we look forward to getting to know your family better during your students’ time at Wake Forest. If you have questions or need additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact our offices.

With best wishes,

Betsy Chapman, Ph.D. (’92, MA ’94) Executive Director of Family Communications

Cherise James, Ph.D. Director of Orientation, New Student and Transitions Programs

Johnny Marr rocks out on guitar.

Manchester will be united in the States this year.

Johnny Marr and James — both natives of the aforementioned England city — are embarking on a 20-concert North American co-headlining tour this fall.

Along the way, the pair will stop in for one night at Brooklyn’s newly opened Paramount Theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

This won’t be their first time touring together either; James opened for Marr’s band The Smiths on the group’s 1985 ‘Meat Is Murder Tour.’

“We admired them and even did one of their songs in our set,” Marr said recalling the tour in a press release. “I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since and being out on tour again after 40 years is a really great thing.”

We look forward to making magic together,” James’ lead singer Tim Booth added.

And if you can’t wait to see these ’80s icons reunited, tickets for all Marr and James shows can be scooped up as early as today.

Fans can now purchase tickets on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale is Friday, May 10.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Johnny Marr tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Johnny Marr set list

Most recently, Marr took his ‘The Spirit Power Tour’ to Nottingham on April 14.

Here’s what he brought to the stage that night, courtesy of Set List FM :

01.) “Sensory Street” 02.) “Panic” (The Smiths song) 03.) “Generate! Generate!” 04.) “Spirit Power and Soul” 05.) “New Town Velocity” 06.) “This Charming Man” (The Smiths song) 07.) “Somewhere” 08.) “Walk Into the Sea” 09.) “The Answer” 10.) “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want” (The Smiths song) 11.) “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before” (The Smiths song) 12.) “Get the Message” (Electronic song) 13.) “Bigmouth Strikes Again” (The Smiths song) 14.) “Hi Hello” 15.) “How Soon Is Now?” (The Smiths song) 16.) “Easy Money” 17.) “Getting Away With It” (Electronic song)

18.) “The Passenger” (Iggy Pop cover) 19.) “You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet, Baby” (The Smiths song) 20.) “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” (The Smiths song)

James set list

In late October 2023, James headlined at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

According to Set List FM , here are the 15 tracks the band played that evening.

01.) “Sound” 02.) “Ring the Bells” 03.) “Curse Curse” 04.) “Walk Like You” 05.) “Interrogation” 06.) “Tomorrow” 07.) “Come Home” 08.) “She’s a Star” 09.) “Johnny Yen” 10.) “All Good Boys” 11.) “Sit Down” 12.) “Beautiful Beaches” 13.) “Getting Away With It (All Messed Up)” 14.) “Sometimes (Lester Piggott)” 15.) “Laid”

Johnny Marr new music

Last year, Marr dropped a Best Of compilation featuring all the hits from his storied career.

What we’re most interested in though is his 2022 release “Fever Dreams Pts 1-4.”

Comprised of 16 pulsing tracks, Marr shows off his gifts for straddling the line between hard rock and jangle pop.

While the record is “no skip” level good, we can’t help but recommend three standout tracks that showcase Marr’s musicianship- the soaring “Lightning People,” the rocking yet danceable “Sensory Street” and nimble, poppy “Night And Day.”

Don’t sleep on the opening track “Spirit Power and Soul” either; it’d fit right in at a haunted house/crossfit hybrid if that makes sense.

Want to hear for yourself?

You can find “Fever Dreams Pts 1-4” in its entirety here .

James new music

Just this year, James released their 18th studio album “Yummy.”

Unsurprisingly, the veteran rockers haven’t lost a step.

Album opener “Is This Love” is a feel good singalong that sets the tone for an inventive, dreamy, atmospheric record that sounds like a bizarro world version of The Killers.

Piano heavy “Shadow Of A Giant” is a surprise diversion from the band’s straightforward indie pop sound as they land on something that sounds brand new and familiar all at once; “Mobile God” evokes otherworldly bombasity.

Make sure to stick around for the album closer “Folks,” too. It’s the perfect melancholy capper to the unpredictable yet always satisfying “Yummy.”

How to buy new edition tickets: dates and prices compared for 2024 concert tour.

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

New Edition's Las Vegas residency is still going strong through 2024, though only a few tour dates remain. Luckily, the iconic music group has added additional tour dates and there are a few different ways to buy New Edition tickets.

New Edition began their residency at the Encore Theater in Las Vegas in February, with their stay ultimately being extended through November. After their original six shows, New Edition added two more legs for this year for a total of 10 more concert dates. Performing on their 2024 concert tour are group members Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe, who sing their classic hits like "Candy Girl," "Cool It Now," and "If It Isn't Love."

If you're still looking for how to buy tickets to New Edition's concerts, we've got you covered. Here's our breakdown of the R&B group's tour schedule, purchasing details, and ticket prices. You can also browse tickets and show specifics on StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

New Edition 2024 tour schedule

All six members of New Edition are returning for the remainder of the group's Las Vegas residency, which kicks off on July 3. It features seven shows from July 3 to July 13 in Las Vegas, with the third leg picking back up for three additional concert dates in October and November.

The group is also appearing at the Cincinnati Music Festival in July.

All concert times are listed in local time zones.

How to buy tickets for New Edition's 2024 concert tour

You can buy original tickets for New Edition's 2024 Las Vegas residency concert dates and music festival appearance on Ticketmaster. However, since the residency extension shows went on sale in March 2024, the quantity of remaining original tickets is limited.

Tickets can also be purchased from verified resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats . You may have better luck with the variety of seating options and availability on resale sites compared to the original tickets still left.

It's also important to note that New Edition's shows at the Encore Theater in Las Vegas only permit concertgoers ages 18 and up — so be sure to bring your ID to get into the group's residency performances.

How much are New Edition's tickets?

Given the high demand for the group's remaining Las Vegas residency shows, tickets to see New Edition in 2024 are relatively expensive. Furthermore, ticket prices vary depending on each show's concert date and demand. Resale ticket prices are comparable to or cheaper than original ticket costs.

The cheapest original ticket prices on Ticketmaster begin at $175 for New Edition's Las Vegas shows on October 30 and November 1. The least expensive seats are generally in the left or right mezzanine. However, most other dates with remaining original tickets are a bit more costly, with the cheapest seats coming in at over $200.

On the other hand, original one-day Saturday tickets for New Edition's Cincinnati Music Festival performance start at only $65. This ticket also lets you see artists like Kem, Stokley, En Vogue, and Coco Jones. Check out the full line-up here .

The least expensive resale tickets available to New Edition's Las Vegas residency on StubHub start at $165 for the group's July 5 performance. Vivid Seats offers similar prices for resale tickets, as the cheapest available Las Vegas show passes begin at $165. However, both sites' base fares are slightly more expensive than the $65 original tickets for the Cincinnati Music Festival, as StubHub's begin at $72 while Vivid Seats' start at $73.

Who is opening for New Edition's tour?

New Edition does not have any opening acts for their tour. Once the showtime begins in Las Vegas, the R&B group will be the ones to come onstage.

Currently, New Edition has not announced any upcoming international tour dates for their 2024 concert series.

Taylor Swift Cancelled All Tour Dates in What She Called 'Racist Florida'?

A social media post claimed swift's "manager is miffed.", aleksandra wrona, published may 7, 2024.

Labeled Satire

About this rating

In late April 2024, a post went viral on Facebook, claiming that "Taylor Swift won't be performing in what she calls 'racist Florida.' Her manager is miffed."

As of this writing, the post gained over 3,500 reactions and 3,000 comments. "We don't want her in Florida," one Facebook user commented, while another added "Florida is definitely blessed."

wake tour schedule

(Facebook page Reagan Was Right)

The pinned comment linked to an article published by The Dunning-Kruger Times with the title "Taylor Swift Cancels All Tour Dates in 'Racist' Florida." It read:

Musical artist Taylor Swift is flying at the height of her fame right now. With a top ten album destroying the charts across the country and a sold-out tour winding daily throughout giant arenas everywhere, she's really running the proverbial table. Except for the unfortunate population of the state of Florida, who's table apparently doesn't come with any cues, chalk, or Mike's Hard Lemonade. Swift has completely cancelled all of her touring dates in Florida after the announcement by governor Ron DeSantis that African American studies, a course tracing the history and current events regarding black people, be removed from curriculums. It's a fairly astounding show of pure racism and ignorance by the modern GOP. Assistant governor Joe Barron explained DeSantis' reasoning behind the cancellation on the popular Florida morning show Wake Up And Smell the Meth. "The thing is, DeSantis really doesn't like black people at all. They're his least favorite of all the colors. He feels that in a perfect world, they wouldn't even be in a University setting in the first place. I mean, do you need to hear a reason? It speaks for itself. Republicans are racist. They just are." Swift made a brief comment about her tour erasure (...) "It's absolutely disgusting, but sadly, what I'd expect from DeSantis and his miserable half-dead state of Florida. I mean, it's America's trash heap. Why would I go there? Shitty pizza and metamucil milkshakes?"

However, this was not a factual recounting of real-life events. The rumor originated with a website that describes its output as being satirical in nature.

The website is part of the  America's Last Line of Defense network  and describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature. Its disclaimer reads as follows:

Dunning-Kruger-Times.com is a subsidiary of the "America's Last Line of Defense" network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery, or as Snopes called it before they lost their war on satire: Junk News.

Moreover, the website's "About Us" section informs  that:
