Get ready to hit the pit to the sweet tones of some electric violin: Yellowcard are returning to the road to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 2003 album, Ocean Avenue .
The pop-punk stalwarts will kick off their tour on July 5 at the Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore, and the run will wrap on Aug. 8 at the Levitt Pavilion in Denver. This Wild Life will provide support throughout the trek, while Yellowcard have also tapped some of their peak-Warped Tour era peers for other dates: Mayday Parade, Story of the Year, and Anberlin. Emo Night Brooklyn will also open several shows with a DJ set.
Tickets for all shows will go on sale on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. local time. An artist presale will take place on Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. local time.
“Announcing a Yellowcard tour is something I never thought we would get to do again,” frontman Ryan Key said in a statement. “Much less, a tour with bands of this caliber made up of such amazing people and good friends. Being given the opportunity to play music together again is truly a gift that we are not taking for granted. We are going to make these shows extremely special for all of the fans who we have missed so much these last six years.”

Yellowcard announce US tour where they'll be playing 2003's Ocean Avenue album in full
Last year Yellowcard announced their reunion after a five-year hiatus. Now they've revealed that they are heading out on tour across the US this Summer, as a celebration of their classic album Ocean Avenue . They may be one of the few Pop-Punk bands with a violinist but don’t think Yellowcard are an empty gimmick – they’ve got a platinum album to prove otherwise.
Formed in Florida in 1997 the band took its name from their high school days when ‘yellow cards’ were handed out for party fouling. The year they formed they released their debut album ‘Midget Tossing’ and then followed up 2 years later with ‘Where we stand’.
At this point however, after a bit of line up shifting, the band ended up with a fresh start and radically changed its sound from hardcore leaning, to a more melodic, pop punk sound. With this new start they were able to build up enough buzz to sign with Capitol records who, in 2003, released ‘Ocean Avenue’ which would go on to become the band’s finest achievement.
When it spawned hit singles like ‘Way Away’ and ‘Ocean Avenue’, the band’s popularity sky rocketed and before they knew it they were experiencing successes they never could have imagined. The album went platinum and soon enough the band were doing everything from headlining the Warped tour to picking up MTV awards.
With newfound fame, the band continued forward releasing albums until in 2008 they went on hiatus for personal reasons leaving fans heartbroken however they needn’t have worried as in just a couple of years they were back together releasing albums and continuing to tour. So while many may write off Yellowcard as just ‘that band with a violinist’, to their fans they are so much more and that’s what counts.
Live reviews
At first, I wasn't totally sold on going. But then I thought "why not?" So, I brought my ticket to go, and 71 days later, it arrived.
Now, Mayday Parade were also coming with them, which was totally awesome! Because they are amazing themselves.
So, the Sunday night before the show, I literally didn't sleep at all. Got out of bed at 1:30am, on the Monday, and was leaving the house at 4am. Arrived to the venue at 4:30am, and it was fucking freezing. It was -4.3 degrees for like 5 hours, but felts like -7 degrees. It was ridiculous. At around 12:30pm, some awesome people showed up and came and sat with us. Half an hour later, I had drunk 5 big energy drinks and hadn't thrown up yet. But by the time it got to around 4:30lm, I was feeling a bit dizzy.
It was finally time to go into the venue after freezing outside for 15 hours. And I ran straight to the center and grabbed onto the barrier. Amazing.
It actually didn't take long for everybody to get inside as there was only 250-300 people.
Openside came on, and I had been talking to the drummer outside, who was really nice, and they came on stage and nailed it! Amazing. Their cover of Sugar, We're Going Down Swinging and amazing.
Mayday Parade.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Jersey started and I was gone, jumping as much as I could with being pushed from every direction. But when Hold Onto Me started, one of my very favorite songs ever, I cried a little. It is so beautiful. But by the time Mayday Parade were closing with Black Cat, my entire body hurt, and my voice was sounding all stupid and I badly needed water.
Yellowcard.
Yes. They came on stage, and fucking nailed it! Never seen a band with that much energy, and giving out that many good vibes.
I myself have also never had that much energy after not sleeping for 24 hours. This band is amazing. And everybody should go and see them. Even if you don't like them, go and see them because after you see them live, you're gonna like them. They're a bunch of funny people, with really great music that totally know how to have a good time.
I loved every second of their set, and I can't wait until they come back.

This year I attended Slam Dunk fest in Leeds and was really there to see New Found Glory. Due to a technical error onstage, Yellowcard only had about half an hour rather than a full hour to play what would've been a full playthrough of Ocean Avene. So when they finally emerged on-stage after ages of waiting around holding onto our decent place up-front close to the main stage my expectations were pretty low. But I was more than pleasantly surprised.
Like others have mentioned, they are incredibly polite and fun guys to see play. They addressed the issue with the technical faults and apologised even though it was not their fault. I was surprised at the amount of fans around me who looked really disappointed. What could've turned into an outright riot soon transformed into the best live performance I've seen yet.
To ignite an audience in such a short amount of time was totally a new thing for me. Their sound was amazing, as good if not better than studio quality. They played all the hits from Ocean Avenue, making decisions on the fly and improvising parts of their songs to befit the situation. I got the feeling they were putting absolutely everything into the show. It was crazy. Sheer, awesome, back-flipping epicness.
I became a fan that day, learning songs I hadn't heard once, falling in love with that sweet yet raw melodic sound. Their guitars were nice and loud, complimenting the rest of the instruments, especially the violin. Definitely the best-sounding band on the main stage. I'll never forget it.
I must have caught them on an off day when I saw them at Warped '07 because I wasn't overly impressed (still loved their music). Now I'm kicking myself for not getting out to see one of their shows sooner, I definitely missed out. I saw them again at Warped this year, and wow, just wow. The crowd was absolutely losing their mind and the band's energy was so infectious. I had such a crazy good time I made sure to get there early for the next Warped show I went to later that week so I could be at the barrier.
On warped they played a decent mix of favorites off every album. When I saw them headlining in the fall the set heavily featured their newest album Lift a Sail. I managed to snag a VIP ticket with a meet and greet, the guys were funny and gracious and even though Ryan Key was feeling sick he still came out.
There are awesome soaring solos and a couple quiet moments for heartfelt ballads. Pay attention to violinist Sean Mackin to catch him do a backflip when he's not playing. The original drummer, LP, has left but I think Nate Young (formerly from Anberlin) did a great job. The energy and momentum was pretty high from start to finish.
The crowds were mostly in their mid 20s and pretty rough throughout the entire show. Expect lots of crowd surfing, circle pits, and moshing. I know I love crowds like that but if you're not comfortable/experienced you should definitely stick to the sides or the back.
Overall it's a great time and I left with a huge smile on my face. Can't wait to see them again!
Yellowcard’s debut Ocean Avenue came out over 10 years ago! There’s a lot to catch up on but with them still making new music and being one of the best live bands, Yellowcard are a band you need to know about. ‘Ocean Avenue’ and ‘Light Up The Sky’ are probably the songs you are most likely to have heard of, although they may be from sometime ago. When the band got back together after a break of several years, new music was soon to follow with the fantastic ‘When You’re Through Thinking Say Yes’ and the newest album ‘Southern Air’ featuring one of my personal favourites: ‘Here I Am Alive’. They perform a great mix of songs, both old and new in each setlist and really bring the crowd alive, whether at a festival or at one of their headlining shows, leaving everyone smiling, wanting more and remembering why Yellowcard have been around for so long; it doesn’t get much better than this. Fans of Yellowcard come in all shapes and sizes, those who’ve been with them for 10 years and those introduced there and then, but all can come together and go crazy for a night of fun, thanks to these great guys from California and next time, we hope to see you there!
Recently reformed alt-rockers Yellowcard are back on the live circuit to play to fans with their melodic rock, bringing sets made of old and new music to venues around the globe. Despite the several line up changes and numerous hiatuses, the fans have stuck by Yellowcard and as the lights go down in Coventry's Kasbah the cheers that erupt are evidence of the band's unwavering popularity.
Beginning with a number of tracks from 2012 LP 'Southern Air' the crowd remain enthusiastic as the energetic band tears through the new material with vigour. The violin is an unusual addition for a rock quartet but when watching the intensity in which Sean Mackin plays the instrument spurs the crowd on to cheer and shriek during his personal solos.
It didn't take long for the band to bring out the old singles such as 'Way Away' and 'Lights & Sounds' and they seem as excitable as the crowd during the intro to these cult favourites. The largest cheers of the night though are definitely reserved for the encore duo of 'Only One' and their most recognisable hit 'Ocean Avenue'. Despite some time away, Yellowcard seem refreshed and re-energised onstage.
I grew up listening to Yellowcard and I saw them at the Road to Warped Tour 2014 in Anchorage, Alaska. The short time that they played was awesome and so when I heard that they were doing their final tour I bought VIP tickets immediately regardless of who would go with me, what homework I had, or how much it would cost. The concert was even more amazing than I would've expected! These guys are so talented, kind, and passionate about what they do. I am so blessed to have met them and be a part of the experience! I am moved every time I listen to their songs and those emotions were amplified when I saw them live. They sounded incredible and I'm going to miss them. Thank you for sharing this experience and giving me the opportunity to say farewell!
Awesome concert! At first it seemed a bit calm since not many seemed to know the kenneths. At second was the band Normandie here people got a bit more loose and started to dance but what happened when yellowcard came on I honestly didn't expect. They came on and BOOM in split second everyone went crazy and almost the whole crowd was in a moshpit that was simply awesome! The music of all bands was great and i had a great time. Unfortunately this is yellowcard's last tour so better go to seem them live now you still can!
They rocked the f**k out of the Baltimore Soundstage! I am very sad they are on their final world tour. My advice to everyone would be go see them while you can. It was an amazing show. Like Torches was also a fantastic bad. I'm not sure if they will be on the rest of the tour with yellowcard but you should definitely check them out too. Thanks again to Yellowcard for putting on a great show and for all the music they gave us over the years!!!
This has to be one of the best concerts I have ever had the privilege to attend. I'm so happy I was able to be apart of the final tour. They're show was lively, entertaining, and they interacted with the crowd well. You could tell they are down to earth people and have a huge appreciation for their fans. I will never forget this night or Yellowcard.
Okay, we all know Yellowcard is amazing. But you thought they were good in recording? That's nothing compared to them live. Yellowcard live is INCREDIBLE. They sound wonderful, they're funny, they're polite, and they know how to put on a dang good show. If you EVER have the opportunity to go see Yellowcard live, DO IT. No regrets, I promise.

Yellowcard Reunite for 20th Anniversary ‘Ocean Avenue’ U.S. Tour Dates
" If I could find you now, things would get better ." Well, Yellowcard fans, you'll be able to find the band back on the road, reuniting for their first concert tour in over six years, and it comes while supporting the 20th anniversary of the band's breakout album, Ocean Avenue .
The four-piece of Ryan Key, Sean Mackin, Ryan Mendez and Josh Portman first got together last fall, playing a headlining slot at Chicago's Riot Fest. From there, they felt there was some unfinished business and here we are in 2023 with the band celebrating the 20th anniversary of Ocean Avenue .
“Announcing a Yellowcard tour is something I never thought we would get to do again, much less, a tour with bands of this caliber made up of such amazing people and good friends,” says Key. “Being given the opportunity to play music together again is truly a gift that we are not taking for granted. We are going to make these shows extremely special for all of the fans who we have missed so much these last six years.”
Ocean Avenue was Yellowcard's fourth studio album, but it gave them their big break thanks to the title track, as well as the singles "Way Away," "Only One" and "Believe." The album has been certified double platinum in the U.S.
The tour gets underway July 5 in Baltimore, Md., with dates keeping the group on the road through Aug. 8 in Denver. Joining them on the run will be a wide variety of support acts. Mayday Parade, Story of the Year, Anberlin, The Wild Life and Emo Night Brooklyn will all spend time warming audiences up on select dates. See the full itinerary and who is playing with Yellowcard on what night in the tour listing toward the bottom of this post.
Tickets and VIP packages will be offered via a Yellowcard presale starting this Wednesday (Feb. 15) at 10AM local time. Additional presales will also be offered in the lead up to the Friday (Feb. 17) general public on sale, which also starts at 10AM local time. Visit Ticketmaster for your ticketing details.
