Switzerland enjoys a moderate four-season climate with no excesses either in heat or cold. The most pleasant time to visit is early on in the summer, with temperatures around 25C, but these can hike up to 30C. From January to February, temperatures can sink to around -2C but this varies according to altitude. Spring is also a lovely time to visit as the meadows turn green.

While it may be home to the chic ski resorts of Davos and St Moritz - preferred winter playground of well-heeled bankers, celebrities and even royalty - there’s more to Graubunden than meets the eye. Forget catwalk glamour on the slopes, this region is actually a very down to earth place where it’s easy to escape the hype and find some peace and solitude in this vast and stunningly beautiful unexplored region. You’re just as likely to come across farmers tending to their crops, craggy mountain pathways, vistas that will take your breath away and pure mountain air to refresh and revive. This is also the area that inspired Swiss author Johanna Spyri to write Heidi, one of the best-selling children’s books of all time and perhaps Switzerland’s most famous piece of literature.

Lake Geneva

There’s no escaping Lake Geneva, the vast, crescent-shaped lake that covers an area of more than 580km. This area is known as the Swiss Riviera and there are many different towns to explore, each one of them with its own distinct character. Geneva itself is a pleasant stop off where you’ll find a cobble-stoned old town, lakeside restaurants, clutch of interesting museums and some grand architecture. Lausanne is a cool, vibrant city inhabited by a hip crowd and some incredible Gothic buildings; perhaps surprisingly, it is also reputedly the skate boarding capital of Europe. Montreux is also worth a visit, not least to experience its world-renowned annual jazz festival.

Klosters and Verbier are the ski resorts of choice for the British royal family, while the Swedish royals have been known to head for the slopes of St Moritz. And it’s not hard to see why these resorts enjoy enduring popularity, with their traditional-style villages, extensive snow-sure ski areas, picture-perfect craggy peaks and excellent mountain restaurants. Gstaad is also up there with the best and offers one of the biggest ski regions in the Alps. Then there’s the mighty Matterhorn and possibly Switzerland’s most famous ski resort, Zermatt, one of the most expensive ski resorts in the region but also known for its unparalleled skiing conditions and Alpine chic.

Expect art, culture and wealth to be on show in this vibrant city that has undergone something of a renaissance in recent years. The Kunsthaus is one of Europe’s great modern art museums and should be included on any itinerary. Then there’s regenerated Zurich-West, a former industrial district that is now home to contemporary art galleries, plethora of cool cafes and restaurants, design, fashion and cutting edge architecture. Zurich is also home to the spectacular FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich which will appeal to football fans of all ages. On top of that, mountains are within easy reach.

Take a ride on Switzerland’s most breathtaking 19th century mountain railway – the Schynige Platte – to enjoy incredible alpine vistas, never ending pine forests, views of the famous peaks of Monch, Eiger and Jungfrau and wildflower gardens that will take your breath away. Or you may prefer to take a cable car ride on the Schilthorn, which offers stunning views of the Alps. If you’re looking for peace, solitude, excellent mountain hiking opportunities and huge, crystal clear mountain lakes, this area won’t disappoint.

Cheese, chocolate, wine - this country boasts an impressive list of foodie credentials. There is a rich farming tradition in Switzerland, so visitors can expect to feast on local, seasonal produce, much of it grown in the foothills of the Alps and surrounding areas. Fondue and raclette show off the country’s fine local cheeses perfectly and are the ideal dishes to feast on after a hard day on the ski slopes. The Swiss are huge chocolate lovers (and producers) and eat around 11kg each per year, more than any other nation.

Much of Swiss culture centres around the Alps and the history and traditions that come with mountain life. Mountaineering, skiing and outdoor pursuits are ingrained in Switzerland’s cultural identity, as is yodeling and alphorn music, folk arts that were developed in the alpine towns and villages of the region. Food also plays a major part of the country’s heritage, as does a pioneering, inventive spirit. The Swiss are also a creative bunch, inventing everything from the Swiss Army Knife to cellophane.

Situated in the heart of central Europe, Switzerland’s history is invariably linked to its neighbours France, Germany, Austria and Italy. Much of its native population settled in the country during the Germanic Migration of Nations, which ended Roman rule in 400AD. In 1291 the ruling families of Schwyz, Unterwalden and Uri formed an alliance against the Hapsburgs and signed a charter to keep the peace and uphold an autonomous rule. This formed the basis of modern day Switzerland. Today the country enjoys huge economical wealth – it is the centre of a thriving banking and trading industry – political stability and a population that has one of the best life expectancies in the world.

Because of its position amongst some of Europe’s highest peaks, wildlife is varied and abundant. Expect to see chamois, ibex, mountain goats, cows, marmots, deer and mountain hares. There is a huge variety of birds of prey that are worth looking out for too, including eagles, buzzards, kestrels and falcons. And with over 50 freshwater lakes in the country, Switzerland is home to over 90 freshwater fish species.

Top 5 airlines serving from Abu Dhabi to Switzerland

Kudos to Swiss!! My wife and I thought Swiss was like flying years back: good food service, refreshments, friendly and courteous crew! We look forward to another trip to Europe next year, and it will be a priority to hopefully fly Swiss, thank you! We strongly can say from experience - the treatment (food, drink, entertainment) in service for Economy Class is unmatched!!!

So terrible. They would not rebook me for a flight until 2 days. I had to spend so much money to get my own flight. They were rude and not helpful.

Super friendly crew. Leg space and entertainment system are below average

I guess just the food, but besides, amazing experience flying with swiss

The Zurich airport is a disaster with to small trains running between the terminals, the trains was overfilled (not good in Corona times). It was no directions in the airport with proper lines so you did not know if you ere standing in the right line. They checked your passport 3 times in the airport = a lot of standing in line. Service on the plane could be a lot better, The cabin crew could have offer more to drink (water, coffee, tea), the food sucked.

Flight was delayed for 4 hours and they misplaced my luggage too. Appalling.

Everything was on time and efficient - expected from a Swiss crew. But the entertainment system was pretty bad - the display was old. Food was pretty bad and a couple of times they started serving drinks and then just skipped past my row (and likely several others)

Overall a good experience, the flight was on time, the crew very attentive and friendly. However the seats are too cramped, there is no space, and as soon as the person in front reclines the seat, it's literally in your face.

Bag lost. Lost bag recovery process is an unsatisfying customer experience. Because 1) bag is still lost but also 2) the process is outdated and form-heavy and 3) in our case also involved a long line.

They went out of their way. It was very clean and friendly.

I had first class service from them. A little late taking off, but no major problem

More facilities to transport to the gates......felt too much walking distance

Not good. Expected a lot more as far as excellence.

They made us deliberate waste time by holding our passports and boarding passes making us miss the flight

Not impressed. Only allowed one carry on on such a long flight.

There’s lots of problem I faced from Bom to Doha that experience was worst I never faced before like this

I found it weird that the quality of the flight different from Australia to Doha than the Doha to Berlin leg. The quality of the toiletries pack (was in a box from Australia) and then a proper bag from Doha. The biggest variation was the inflight entertainment, which had a significantly shorter amount of content compared to the Doha flight. My QSuite seat was also broken and did not recline all the way flat. Wasn’t the best and I wouldn’t be happy if I’d paid cash for the flight.

From Montreal to Doha , we habe two complaints : 1) They want to charge for Seat Selection, claiming that the Class of ticket bought on Kayak did not cover seat selection. It such a penny pinching rule, I told them, since we paid almost $20,000 our 3 tickets , that rule should never exist. Also I reserved my tickets so many months ahead, I expected they will naturally put the family together or move somebody else to keep our family seating together. I filed a complaint, and NOBODY ANSWERED. 2) In Montreal, Qatar has an arrangement with the National Bank Lounge. It was so overcrowded and the Lounge is so bad in terms of service and food, amenities etc... The WORST lounge . Why Qatar not have another arrangement their Business Class clients in Montreal. The Air France KLM Lounger is better, the Air Canada Lounge is better. Qatar should send somebody to take a look ! Joseph Chung

Overall it was a very good experience. Boarding was efficient and well organized. The cabin crew were excellent. The meals were tasty and quite filling. The warm bread rolls were a nice touch. Seats were comfortable even if they were a little narrow. Entertainment selection was excellent.

My seat that I booked over a year ago and some other passenger was sitting in it. They said they could not walk and they would not move. I was with my young kid and the crew did nothing to accommodate that. Just disappointed that the airline accepts that excuse from a passenger.

Okay experience, seats had a very poor legroom and width. Very uncomfortable for long journeys.

the worst experience we had. they put connection label to our luggages with mistake and we had to wait for 5 hours to pick them up

COmpared to my experience in the business class of other airlines the food variety and offerings were meager. They did not have any cookies or crackers for snacking! They were unable to offer some other items. This has never been my experience in other airlines.

In general terms the service was excellent. I would ask that they add more content in Spanish to the catalog of movies, series and music.

Just on time arrival and departure would make it great

Quality of service on board was very inconsistent. FA service primarily seemed robotic and they barely engaged with passengers

Turkish airline always good Only Turkish representatives at the gave need to be more helpfull to any staff who traveling on Turkish airline . One situation happened Ist to jfk on Feb 29 TK3 had seats I asked them to transfer me to tk3 because Feb 29 tk1 was oversold and they advise me that I might not make it for tk1 I asked them to transfer me to tk3 and they say no they can’t do it I been telling them you know that I don’t have a chance for tk 1 why would you let plane go with some empty seats on tk3 if you can transfer me to tk3 and have less staff on tk1 and still told me no I waited for tk1 9 hours and only last minute I got seat on tk1 It was not easy situation but I am glad I made it home Thank you Turkish Airline One more suggestion for Turkish Airline you need to make a FIRST CLASS cabin it would be so cool 🆒 Good luck all the best See you more

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the recent flight experience I had with your airline. This has been one of the worst travel experiences I have ever encountered, and I feel compelled to bring it to your attention. Firstly, I missed my flight due to what I perceive to be a lack of clear communication and coordination on the part of your staff. There was no remorse or apology from the airline's representatives, which further exacerbated the situation. As a result of missing my flight, I was subjected to a 24-hour delay at the airport, where I had to spend a significant amount of money to rent a hotel room and cover other incidental expenses. Additionally, since my baggage was already checked in from Tanzania to Turkey, I had to purchase essential items for the 24-hour period. What truly dismayed me, however, was the discourteous and unprofessional attitude of your staff. Their lack of empathy and understanding only added to the stress and inconvenience of the situation. I have been traveling abroad for over 20 years, and I can confidently say that this experience has been the worst I have ever encountered. As a result, I am compelled to reconsider ever using your airline again for future travel. I strongly urge you to address the issues I have raised and take immediate steps to rectify the situation. Additionally, I expect a formal apology and a refund for the expenses I incurred due to the airline's negligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your prompt response.

I will avoid this airline as much as possible. Service was rude, and I don’t think the crew knew how to answer a CALL LIGHT. I pushed my call light on the ohare to Istanbul and the Istanbul to Thailand flight because I was very very thirsty. NO ONE CAME. I pushed it twice! NO ONE CAME! Why have a call light when no one will come? My experience was the WORSE AND I WILL NEVER EVER FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE AGAIN. The cabin crew needs to learn MANNERS AND BE RETRAINED on their jobs on how to be helpful and kind instead of being short with their customers and ANSWER CALL LIGHTS! I honestly wouldn’t be suprised this airline goes out of business.

Better attitude training for staff at airport, better training for flight attendants, better food, don’t put us with all the crying babies that cried nonstop for 12 plus hours.

1st of all on February 27th Abu Dhabi to Delhi flight the seat wasn't comfortable at all, coming back the Lounge at Abu Dhabi didn't have anything. Than the Food in the flight

Overall mediocre experience. Check in was good. They're were discriminatory. They were not attentive, food choices were not vegetarian friendly. The food served was frozen.

Good range of movies but lacking decent tv shows. Wifi was really expensive on this flight, considering flights under 7 hours have a $9.99 USD charge for streaming, to jump up to $24.99 for a 7 hour 40 flight seemed a little bit of a rip off. Staff are inattentive, and really need to improve on the customer experience. The new airport is fantastic, as is the new lounge, a huge upgrade from the old airport and lounge!

The staff was very nice and polite but it was very very hot and no ways to have some fresh air. It would be nice to have more time to sleep since it was a night flight

Etihad broke my suitcase Also over charged me for luggage

1.Aircraft Comfort: The aircraft type was quite small with non-reclining, cramped seats that significantly lacked comfort. 2.In-flight Entertainment: There was no provision of in-flight entertainment screens or Wi-Fi for the majority of the flight. 3.Boarding Process at New Abu Dhabi Airport: Despite the move to a new airport, which promised enhanced experiences, the use of buses instead of jet bridges did not meet expectations, causing inconvenience. 4.Gate Change Communication: A last-minute gate change was poorly communicated, resulting in a long and difficult walk.

Very unfriendly team. It was very difficult to get a cup of coffee. Legroom was extremely small. Old, dilapidated plane.

Ripped off and broken seats in Business class. Seats stink and need to request the staff for additional bedsheets. Crew if very friendly though

Food was very good. Again tray could use a non-skid mat. I had a regular seat - comfortable - able to sleep undisturbed. Boarding was uneventful.

Pegasus is not a very comfortable airline. They’re not in any way hospitable

It was like moving cattle around. Very abrupt, uncomfortable and not much hospitality

All good but air not give the pasing er any food even glase of water

Flight delayed by 1hr when we already boarded because someone had to get off. Leg room is terrible for 6ft people like me.

I used the airline 5-6 times for the last year and every flight have had perfect timing and I like it. Despite catastrophic absence of space for my legs 😁

The crew was utterly non helping and non courteous.I asked for a water. The air hostess could have said it's paid . She informed me that I will come later after serving but never turned up. The seats were never comfortable. My first and last flight with Pegasus.I am not taking again

The plane left Istanbul 1 hour late and the AC was not really working great it was so hot inside and no air. This was my worst flight in a long time since I had a flight with Ryanair.

Cheap and cheerful. It’s a super cheap, no frills flight. Very professional and as it’s an A320 relatively spacious. Seats do not recline. Happy with the service. You get what you pay for. Can’t complain

I had 4 flights for less than a week and there were no delays and issues. Thanks to the crews and for perfectly organised service.

There is no usb for charging the phone you should provide the water

Get invited for a free demonstration and buy one for your home – a prized possession. Later drive to Schaffhausen, where you see the magnificent Rhine Falls - It’s not only the biggest waterfall in the Switzerland, but in the whole of Europe as well. It all started more than 15,000 years ago when the River Rhine was forced into a new river bed by tectonic shifts in the Ice Age, giving rise to Rhine falls at the point where hard chalk turned into soft gravel. Check in to your hotel. Dinner at Indian Restaurant and overnight stay in Central Switzerland.

    + Day 2: Zurich – Interlaken - Zurich (Breakfast)

Day is Free OR Optional Jungfraujoch and Interlaken After continental buffet breakfast, day is at leisure OR you have a chance to join us on an adventurous ride to visit Jungfraujoch –The Top of Europe, for a memorable encounter with snow and ice – a high-point of your tour! Proceed to Lauterbrunnen / Grindelwald Grund where the excitement begins. You will be amazed at the scenic splendour that you see from aboard the cogwheel train, which takes you to a height of 3,454 meters to reach Jungfraujoch-Europe’s highest railway station! This is definitely an experience like no other. You have heard of climbing mountains but it is rare that to ride a train cutting through the mountain to a height of 3454M with a bird’s eye view of the stunning scenery. Experience the magic of the mountains and visit the Ice Palace on top of the longest glacier in the Alps. Take a high speed elevator to the Sphinx observatory deck. Next walk on to the snow Fun Park and jump right into the fun activities of snowboarding, building a snowman or a good old snow ball fight. Later take a photo stop at Interlaken (a small town of 4.27 km in Switzerland), a charming city nestled between two lakes and surrounded by the splendid Bernese Oberland Mountains. Treasure these wonderful moments as you drive back to your hotel. Overnight stay in Central Switzerland.

+ Day 3: Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich (Breakfast, Dinner)

After continental buffet breakfast, you join on one of the most memorable experiences of your Europe tour on your journey to Lindt Chocolate Museum & Mt. Titlis with Ice Flyer. Later Proceed to Mt. Titlis experience the world’s first 360 degrees revolving cable car from which you are able to gaze at the irreproachable snow-capped mountains. As you reach the summit (3020 M above sea level) you have many activities to keep you occupied. Proceed to the underground ice caves filled with millions of ice crystals that shimmer under soft turquoise light before entering the viewing platform for breathtaking panoramas of the Alps. Next, awaken your inner super hero as you walk across the highest suspension bridge in Europe. The first few minutes may render you speechless but don’t forget to enjoy the experience as much as possible! This is followed by the Ice Flyer; gliding from mountain to mountain on a chair lift to the Glacier Park for super time in the snow. Later we proceed to scenic Lucerne and enjoy lunch on your own. Next, you will visit the Lion Monument, or the Lion of Lucerne, is a rock relief in Lucerne, Switzerland, designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen and hewn in 1820–21 by Lukas Ahorn. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution, when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris and the Kapell Brucke (wooden bridge), Why is Chapel Bridge important? First, it is the oldest wooden bridge in Switzerland dating back to the middle of the 14th century (first written record in 1367). Perhaps even more important, only very few covered wooden bridges do have old paintings under their roofs. Here you will also have some free time to shop for famous Swiss watches, knives and chocolates. Dinner at Indian Restaurant and overnight stay in Central Switzerland.

Visitors of all faiths are welcome in the mosque; the only requisite is that they dress appropriately and act properly.

Emirates Palace

The Emirates Palace will be a genuine jaw-dropping spectacle for those who have been impressed by the Burj Al Arab. This hotel, better known as a palace, is unquestionably the most opulent in the UAE. The hotel has gone down in history as the most expensive to ever be built, with a construction cost of around $3 billion. It's also the greatest place in Abu Dhabi to get a fantastic cappuccino with real gold flakes!

Yas Island is a popular tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi that offers a variety of leisure, entertainment, and shopping opportunities. The Yas Marina Circuit, which spans 25 square kilometres and has hosted the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009, is located on Yas Island.
