More About London
From treasured landmarks to sipping afternoon tea, there is something for everyone in London. Enjoy panoramic views from Tower Bridge and visit the nearby Tower of London, with its rich history and the crown jewels of England. Speaking of royalty, catch the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, the residence of the reigning monarchs. In central London, enjoy Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, the British Museum, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. London also has a splendid array of markets to explore, like Covent Garden or Portobello Road on Notting Hill. And for evening entertainment, enjoy world-renowned theaters and lively clubs in London’s West End. With all this and more, the historic and vibrant European capital of London is an absolute must-see.

The heaviest tourist season runs mid-April through mid-October, with another peak around Christmas—though the tide never really ebbs. Spring is the time to see the countryside and the royal London parks and gardens at their freshest; fall to enjoy near-ideal exploring conditions. In late summer, be warned: air-conditioning is rarely found in places other than department stores, modern restaurants, hotels, and cinemas in London, and in a hot summer you'll swelter. Winter can be rather dismal, but all the theatres, concerts, and exhibitions go full speed.
It's virtually impossible to forecast London weather, but you can be fairly certain that it will not be what you expect. It's generally mild—with some savage exceptions, especially in summer. In short, be prepared for anything: layers and an umbrella are your friends.

London Tour Selection Trips
- Choosing Central London as the basepoint of your trip will be easier and cheaper to move around the whole city and explore the major destination through the central area. The cost of accommodation is a bit higher, but it gets covered in what you save in traveling from distant hotels to the main hub, also saving you lots of time.
- As soon as you reach London, get an Oyster card. You can get it from mostly tube stations and can preload an amount that you can use on the go during your travel. Once you reach the daily cap after 3 to 4 journeys, then you can travel around for free for the rest of your day.
- You can also purchase an Oyster card online and have it mailed to you before you depart for London! But be sure to leave enough time to receive it.
- Plan your trip well before arriving. Choose the desired destinations, mode of transportation for every point, make advanced bookings, etc. The busy city is always filled with people, and you will waste your time and money if you don't preplan your trip.
- Don’t try to explore every point in the city in one trip. The enormous city is full of worth visiting places that you can’t completely explore even in weeks. So, plan your trip conveniently for 3 to 4 days and map your route accordingly.
- London is undoubtedly not a cheap city, but there are various free to visit great spots in the city. There are various parks, gardens, and museums like the British Museum, National Gallery, National History Museum, Science Museum, and many more.
- You can pay through your credit card, but no currency is acceptable other than a sterling pound, so keeps a sufficient amount with you.
- Keep a travel adapter because the UK plugs are different from what you find in other European countries and the US & Canada.
- Tips are usually not expected in the UK as the service charges are included in the restaurant bill, and they charge you 10 - 15% service charges in addition to the bill. But you can leave a 10% tip if you are happy with the service.
- Choose your transportation mode according to the destination and the distance. The fastest and most convenient method is through the underground tubes that save you from the traffic hassle, but you will miss the sights in that. At times the distance between your destinations will be so small that it would be better to walk between the two stops instead of spending time in getting on and off the tube/bus.
- One of the best ways of sightseeing across London is to rent a bike and go on paddling.
- The unpredictable weather of the city demands you to keep an umbrella with you all the time. Winter or summer, you never know when it will start to rain, so pack your umbrella or raincoat with you and check the weather forecast every time you step out of your hotel.

Best time to visit London
The largest city and capital of the England attracts millions of people annually, round the year. Every season has its own perks and benefits, and it depends very much on your interest that which time suits you the best. There is no offseason in London; hence, if you expect empty streets to have the region all to yourself is nearly impossible.
The busy city is the hub of the country and is always crowded with local or international visitors. There are times when the crowds are small when a huge bunch of tourists has not yet arrived but still expect crowd everywhere. No matter what time of the year you choose to travel to London, one thing that you have to keep with you always is an umbrella. The unpredictable weather in London can get you trapped in the rain anytime. So, better be ready for it.
Summertime, June – August , is the most popular time, and various people choose to travel to London during these months. The main reason is the pleasantly warm weather that will make you so comfortable that you won't mind the huge tourist crowds.
It is also the best time to visit if you want to visit the royal sites as they are open to the public during summer when the occupants are away for a holiday. From late June to early July you will have the chance to enjoy Harrods's summer sale and many other good summer sales.
Autumn, mid-September to November , brings with it a mild chill, signaling the approaching winters, but the weather is still comfortably pleasant. Streets are still crowded with tourists to some extent. If you are interested in experiencing the local culture, then you might get a chance to witness any of the annual events like Guy Fawkes Night, The Lord Mayor's Show, etc.
Being a low tourist season, due to the freezing temperatures, wintertime is best to get the discounted deals on everything, except December. The post-Christmas sales in January, along with discounts on airfare and accommodation, can let you save a lot. If you don’t mind all packed up in warm clothes, then you should travel to London during winter as that will help you save a lot in every aspect. Also, there will be fewer people and shorter queues for everything, saving you lots of time as well.
The second best time after summer is the spring season with its beautiful blooming flowers. Enjoy the beauty of royal gardens and parks with various colors inviting you to indulge in the natural beauty. The winter chill has left already, and the summer warmth welcomes you with open arms. Tourists have not yet arrived, so you will find lesser crowds everywhere during early spring. This time of the year has minimum rainfall and is considered to be the best time of the year concerning the weather.

It may be one of the most recognizable cities in the world with its iconic landmarks and signature style, but delve deeper and there’s a side of London you never expected. The food is better than what you’ve been told. The history goes beyond the Royal Family. And there’s more ways to get around than the Tube. Your guide to London
What do locals do in london, enjoy the art scene.
London is home to some of the world’s finest art institutions, but you are more apt to see in-the-know locals in places such as the Somerset art center, scoping the galleries in King’s Cross, and simply enjoying the street art that can pop up across the city at any given moment. For the best experiences, visit places such as the Tate with an art historian, or hit the streets with a local art lover in places such as Notting Hill. Londoners can still be spotted walking the famed corridors of places such as the National Gallery, Tate Modern, the British Museum, and the National History Museum — usually for traveling exhibits.
Head outside to the parks
London might have a reputation for dreary weather, but locals know how to navigate the weather reports — especially when the forecast is sunny. Picnics on Primrose Hill, bike rides around Regent’s Park, and the always-on Hyde Park (think concerts and events) only start the list of public parks enjoyed by Londoners.
Relax on Sundays
Brits have been doing Sundays right for quite some time (case in point: the Sunday roast). When it comes to truly relaxing, Londoners end the week with cozy meals, a stroll through Columbia Flower Market, and visits to neighborhood cafes with a good book in hand. For those looking to experience the feeling firsthand, consider booking a Sunday cooking class to learn how to make pastas, Indian food, and other soul-nurturing meals with local hosts.
Where do locals eat in London?
Soho is a go-to for some of the best no-reservations restaurants in the city, offering up menus that represent the globe such as Taiwanese cuisine, Spanish tapas, and South Indian dishes. It’s also where many famous figures past and present have called home, including Mozart, which you can learn more about over pints on a pubs-and-music walking tour led by local historians.
This south London neighborhood is electric (it was one of the first areas of London to receive electricity in the 1880s, after all). It’s where locals go for casual eateries, great shopping, and nightlife. Afro-Caribbean culture influences everything here: from the intricate murals and street art to the food stalls and fashion within Brixton Village. It’s also a great place to grab a drink or a bite before catching a gig at Hootananny or O2 Arena.
The East End district lives up to its cool reputation with Banksy art, top shops, and eclectic dining. Consider Shoreditch for Spitalfields Market plus nearby Brick Lane, which is famous for Beigel Bake and curries.
Borough Market
City dwellers don’t mind sharing this fabulous market with visitors. Located on Southwark Street, just south of the London Bridge, this is one of the oldest and largest public markets in the city. The site has history that dates back to the 1270s, which is best learned on food walking tours inside the market, where you’ll find fresh, sustainable fare. When you’re done, head to London’s oldest pub, the George Inn, for a pint.
What are the best ways to go sightseeing in London?
See the highlights with a historian.
London is home to some of the world’s most famous attractions, including Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, the London Bridge, the Shard, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Buckingham Palace. The best way to truly experience these places is with a historian as your guide. Customs such as the Changing of the Guard are explained to you in real time by the people who know it best.
Ignite the imagination on Harry Potter tours
Start at Diagon Alley, pop down to see the Ministry of Magic, and find out which Leaky Cauldron has the best taco on an amusing tour of Harry Potter’s London. You can even do an afternoon tea, HP-style, in Soho.
Soak up the pop culture
Stories about the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and David Bowie abound on tours to their favorite haunts; meanwhile, a black cab tour of the city’s highlights is a quintessentially British way to travel.
Enjoy a night in the West End
Some of the world’s biggest theater shows are hosted here, and a musical theater tour is a great way to learn the history of this district in central London. For those who want to let loose, consider a night out here for live music, cocktails, and more.
Take a day trip
Stonehenge and Bath are both day trips worth the time. For those looking for something more low-key, head out to Brighton, Cambridge, or Oxford — all of which are about an hour away from the capital.

About The Tour
The ancient University city of Cambridge is smaller and much more centralised than Oxford with its picturesque mediaeval colleges clustering around the River Cam. Half-timbered Queen's College is one of the most picturesque and King's College Chapel has some of the finest Gothic fan vaulting in England.
Also visit the Imperial War Museum Duxford. At the start of the second World War, Duxford was a Royal Air Force fighter base, its squadrons equipped with Spitfires and Hurricanes. The control tower and two of the hangars are original. Today the fascinating collection concentrates on British and American military aircraft from both world wars. Alongside the fighters and bombers are a few civil aircraft.
Even at weekends the hangars are hives of activity as aircraft are stripped down, reconstructed and restored in many cases to flying condition.
If your visit coincides with a flying day, you can watch simulated dogfights by Spitfires over the airfield.
Spitire Flights Contact us too about combining your tour of this historic airbase with a once-in-a-lifetime aviation experience - a flight in the iconic Spitfire. Follow in the footsteps of Churchill's "The Few" - the heroes who took to the skies to defend Britain from the Luftwaffe.
