Enjoy a one-of-a-kind airboat tour that leaves from Wacca Wache Marina and takes you along the Waccamaw, Black, and Pee Dee Rivers, where no ordinary boat can take you. While you are on your airboat tour, you will be surrounded by the beautiful outdoors and all it has to offer. The tour may offer close encounters with some of nature’s most awe-inspiring creatures, from native alligators to regal ospreys. Ride through backwaters framed by moss-laden oak and cypress trees on your airboat tour!

You will be amazed if you come across a monstrous alligator in its home water. These creatures are beautiful in their natural habitat, and coming across one is a memory worth making! The Osprey is another amazing sight to see. You may even get to see an Osprey dive down and catch themselves a delightful fish dinner. These birds will fly high over their prey, dive down, and completely submerge themselves to catch fish. It is truly magnificent if you get to see either one of these animals on a Waccamaw Cooter Airboat Tour!

Although they tour in a National Wildlife Refuge, wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

The Waccamaw Cooter Airboat Tour lasts about an hour and seats up to 12 people. Each guest riding the airboat will be given a lifejacket to wear as a safety precaution. Book online or call the office for reservations!

Plantation River Tours, located just a few miles south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet SC, offers comfortable, relaxing boat tours along the beautiful Waccamaw, Black and Great Pee Dee rivers. Both the Waccamaw Lady and the Waccamaw Cooter Airboat depart from the Wacca Wache Marina. Be sure to check the calendar for each tour’s availability!

Waccamaw Lady Plantation River Tour

Plantations along the cruise include:

• Arundel Plantation – This plantation received its name from Arundel Castle, seat of the Duke of Norfolk located on the Arun River, Sussex, England.
• Chicora Wood Plantation – Elizabeth Alston, RFW Allston’s daughter, acquired Chicora Wood after her mother’s death in 1896.
• Exchange Plantation – Owned by David McDowell in 1822. May be named because he got it in exchange for another piece of property.
• Hasty Point Plantation – Tradition says the plantation was named when General Francis Marion made a hurried escape from the British during the American Revolution.
• Squirrel Creek Plantation – The house that stands today is the second house built, the first house burned between 1827-1841.
• Willbrook Plantation – The Tucker family was the original owner. Jesse Metcalf, 1936; then sold to the Hunter family; and then to the Litchfield-by-the-Sea Partnership Inc.

About Wacca Wache Marina

The name Wacca Wache derives from the language of the Waccamaw Indians and means ‘happy, happy’. It’s a shortened combination of the phrases Waccamaw, meaning ‘happy waters’, and Wachesaw which means ‘happy hunting’.

Wacca Wache Marina has pleased boaters, fishermen and hunters for nearly 70 years. The marina originated in 1954, built from remnants of local houses and cottages that floated down the waterway after Hurricane Hazel moved through the Grand Strand. Today, the marina continues to be a popular spot for waterway travelers to launch their craft or enjoy as a recreational stopover.

We enjoyed everything about this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable in the history and nature of the tour. He made sure we experienced as much as we possibly could. Deffinitly a must if your in the Charleston area.

This tour was our favorite excursion on our Charleston trip! Gresh was a great guide and shared lots of information about the area. We saw shrimp fishermen, dolphin and oysters beds. We thoroughly enjoyed all the beautiful scenery.

Captain Gresh gave us a great tour through the oyster beds and dolphin hangouts, while educating us on the rich history and ecological diversity of the island and waters. We took a lovely stroll on Morris Island, found some perfect sand dollars, and snapped some amazing photos.

We went on this trip today and had an amazing experience. Captain Gresh knew everything there was to know about the area - plants, animals and ecosystems. We saw many dolphin pods and I even picked up a rare whole conch shell on our trip.
