In Malaysia’s first large-scale concert since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in 2020, US singer-songwriter Billie Eilish entertained fans for one-and-a-half hours at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur yesterday (Aug 18).

The youngest artiste to receive nominations and win in all the major categories at the 62nd Grammy Awards (Best New Artiste, Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album) did not disappoint as she served up a slew of songs for frenzied concert-goers.

The 20-year-old’s compelling performance was a combination of slow and relaxed tunes.

The Kuala Lumpur show, which is one of the stops in her Billie Eilish Happier Than Ever, The World Tour 2022, kicked off with the infectious, groove-worthy, head-bopping tracks Bury A Friend , I Didn’t Change My Number , NDA and My Strange Addiction .

This was followed by the slower tunes idontwannabeyouanymore and You Should See Me In A Crown , before the set picked up again for Billie Bossa Nova , a smooth, laid-back track using the Brazilian music style bossa nova.

Eilish’s husky, ethereal voice was in top form as she worked her way through songs that show off her vocal range such as The 30th and Oxytocin , where she glides effortlessly from top soprano notes to lower ranges.

Her pure, perfectly pitched tone was both breathy and powerful, and paired with sometimes macabre but often tongue-in-cheek lyrics, made for a compelling performance that evoked tears, screams and singalongs from the young audience.

The show was a crowd-pleaser as the 20-year-old served up a combination of slow and relaxed tunes as well as upbeat and foot tapping groovy tracks. There's even an acoustic bit with O’Connell on guitar. There was also plenty of crowd interactions where Eilish referred to the audience as “cute” and thanked them profusely for attending.

Other songs performed from the Happier Than Ever album - which she has described as a sort of “diary” - were Getting Older , Halley's Comet , Goldwing and Your Power.

The multiple award-winning artiste performed for one-and-a-half hours.

Eilish ended the show with the title track from her second album, Happier Than Ever.

While there were screams of delights and some even shedding tears of joy getting the chance to watch their idol on stage and attending live shows once again, was everyone "happier than ever"?

Several netizens have flooded social media voicing their frustrations and anger about the show. Some concertgoers who said they paid over RM500 for their tickets found that their seats were too far away from the stage for them to fully enjoy the experience or had an obstructed view of the stage. Others complained about the poor audio system in the venue that marred the concert experience.

Billie eilish speaks on her sexuality, 'i wanted my face in a vagina', billie eilish opens up on sexuality ... i realized i 'wanted my face in a vagina'.

Billie Eilish never planned to talk about her sexuality at great length -- but now that it's out there she's letting it rip, telling the whole wide world she's into chicks ... in graphic detail.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone , Billie discusses her forthcoming song, "Lunch" -- which details her being intimate with another woman. She says she first began writing this track before doing anything with another girl ... but was able to finish it after one eye-opening encounter with a female.

She says ... "I've been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn't understand -- until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina."

Despite opening up about her sexuality now, Billie's kinda peeved by the way her coming out made headlines in the press. Remember, Billie blasted Variety at the end of last year for outing her in their cover story ... even though she sorta facilitated it at the time.

BE adds ... "I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up."

Now that pandora's box has been opened , however ... Billie seems far more comfortable talking about sex, including the topic of masturbation. In the interview, BE confesses to pleasuring herself regularly in front of a mirror, stating it helps with her self-esteem.

She explained ... "Partly because it’s hot, but it also makes me have such a raw, deep connection to myself and my body, and have a love for my body that I have not really ever had."

Billie finishes off this train of thought by hammering the point home ... saying, "People should be jerking it, man. I can’t stress it enough, as somebody with extreme body issues and dysmorphia that I’ve had my entire life."

You heard it here first, peeps ... get busy (with yourself or others).

This is what Billie Eilish talks about when she’s not promoting ‘Barbie, Barbie, Barbie’

Billie Eilish is so sick of talking about her Oscar-winning “Barbie” song.

The singer, who co-wrote “What Was I Made For?” with brother-collaborator Finneas for Greta Gerwig’s movie, finally has time to talk about how tiring it was to promote the song and attend all those awards ceremonies.

“Bro, nobody can get enough of me,” she told Rolling Stone . “Every second of every day is Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, which is great, but as soon as the Oscars are over and I lose, I’m going the f— away. I’m literally gone.”

She did not, in fact, lose the Academy Award for original song, and she and Finneas became the youngest two-time winners in Oscars history . The duo also picked up a Golden Globe and a Grammy for the hit .

Billie Eilish slams Variety for ‘outing’ her sexuality at red carpet: ‘Leave me alone’

Billie Eilish called out Variety in an Instagram post for ‘outing me on a red carpet... instead of talking about anything else’ at its Hitmakers Brunch.

Dec. 4, 2023

Eilish told the magazine — in what she said was her first non-”Barbie” interview in more than a year — that the song became a bigger hit than she was anticipating.

The 22-year-old hitmaker is set to release her third album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” on May 17. Though she is exploring different sounds and more mature themes than in her previous work, she and Finneas, who was also interviewed for the profile, revealed that the opening track mirrors “What Was I Made For?”

She and Finneas had writer’s block when they were creating the “Barbie” track, and they ended up writing this new song first, she said.

The tune, with its yet-to-be-revealed title, became the catalyst for the emotional and delicate “Barbie” hit, sharing its whispered sound and a similarly graceful melody. It explores the myth that losing weight means gaining happiness — another emotional theme that, like the one in “What Was I Made For?,” often plagues girls and women as they grow up.

Billie Eilish on her summer blockbuster ‘anti-single’: ‘The song was an excuse to say the truth’

Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’, co-written with her brother Finneas O’Connell, has transcended the smash-hit film it arrived with.

Oct. 11, 2023

Eilish, 22, said she felt like she had been making music and working nonstop since she hit the A-list as a teenager.

“I had this moment of like, ‘Oh, my God, I haven’t had fun in seven years.’ Truly. I had this illusion that I had, because who experiences going to the Grammys at basically 17 and winning five ?” she said. “But in life, I realized I had really not experienced that much. I didn’t go outside for five years. How was I supposed to have any experiences?”

Since 2019, the singer has put out two albums, written and performed songs for “No Time to Die” and “Barbie” (winning Oscars for both), headlined at Coachella and picked up more than a few Grammys. After the lengthy and very pink “Barbie” promotional tour, she said she was relieved to catch a break.

That is, until her next album kicks off a whole new cycle.

Billie Eilish reveals when she learned she was attracted to women

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Billie Eilish has opened up about her sexuality journey.

The Grammy-winning singer, 22, spoke candidly about coming to terms with her sexuality in a wide-ranging Rolling Stone interview published on 24 April. While speaking about the upcoming song “Lunch” off her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft , Eilish explained how writing the track - in which she likens sex with a woman to devouring a meal - helped her further understand her sexuality.

“That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real,” Eilish told Rolling Stone. “I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after.”

The “Bad Guy” singer went on to reveal exactly when she realised she was attracted to women, though she didn’t ever intend on publicly speaking about her sexuality.

“I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand - until, last year, I realised I wanted my face in a vagina,” Eilish said. “I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up.”

Back in December, the Oscar winner made headlines when she inadvertently came out as queer on the red carpet at Variety’s Hitmakers event. The “Bad Guy” singer later hit out at the publication for “outing” her.

“Thanks Variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters. I like boys and girls leave me alone about it please literally who cares,” Eilish wrote on her Instagram Story at the time.

Elsewhere during the interview, the “What Was I Made For?” singer admitted that she “overreacted” with her Instagram post.

“Who f***ing cares?” she told Rolling Stone . “The whole world suddenly decided who I was, and I didn’t get to say anything or control any of it. Nobody should be pressured into being one thing or the other, and I think that there’s a lot of wanting labels all over the place. Dude, I’ve known people that don’t know their sexuality, or feel comfortable with it, until they’re in their forties, fifties, sixties. It takes a while to find yourself, and I think it’s really unfair, the way that the internet bullies you into talking about who you are and what you are.”

Eilish explained that she’s “only figuring out [herself] now,” but still felt “exploited” during the red carpet moment. “I’m lucky enough to be in a time when I’m able to say something like that and things go okay for me,” she added. “And that’s not how a lot of people’s experience is.”

This isn’t the first time the “Happier Than Ever” singer has spoken about her gender identity and sexuality. In an interview for Variety’s “Power of Women” issue last November, Eilish admitted that she doesn’t feel like a “girl” despite using female pronouns.

“I’ve never felt like a woman, to be honest with you. I’ve never felt desirable. I’ve never felt feminine. I have to convince myself that I’m, like, a pretty girl,” she told the outlet. “I identify as ‘she/her’ and things like that, but I’ve never really felt like a girl.”

Reflecting on her fondness for baggy clothing, Eilish noted that her controversial fashion choices are in order to protect herself from being oversexualised.

“I wasn’t trying to have people not sexualise me,” she said. “But I didn’t want people to have access to my body, even visually. I wasn’t strong enough and secure enough to show it. If I had shown it at that time, I would have been completely devastated if people had said anything.”

She added: “Maybe my not really caring about being sexualised is because I’ve never felt desired or desirable.”

Billie Eilish opens up about sexuality, effects of fame and more

Billie Eilish's album, "Hit Me Hard and Soft," will be released on May 17.

Billie Eilish's third studio album, " Hit Me Hard and Soft ," is less than a month away, and ahead of its release, the two-time Academy Award winner and nine-time Grammy winner is opening up about how the new project reminds her of her first album.

Eilish, 22, who released "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" in 2019, said working on "Hit Me Hard and Soft" has felt like "coming back to the girl that I was."

"I've been grieving her," she said in a cover interview with Rolling Stone published Wednesday. "I've been looking for her in everything, and it's almost like she got drowned by the world and the media. I don't remember when she went away."

'I was never planning on talking about my sexuality'

Ahead of the new album, the "What Was I Made For?" singer said that she isn't releasing any singles from it.

"I don't like singles from albums," she said. "Every single time an artist I love puts out a single without the context of the album, I'm just already prone to hating on it."

"This album is like a family: I don't want one little kid to be in the middle of the room alone," she added.

Eilish spoke to Rolling Stone about how one song on the album in particular -- titled "Lunch" -- helped her open up about her sexuality.

"That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real," Eilish said. "I wrote some of it before even doing it with a girl, and then wrote the rest after."

"I've been in love with girls for my whole life," she added. "But I just didn't understand ... I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years."

'I've had some scary things happen in my personal life'

Reflecting on her success over the years, Eilish also spoke about her level of fame and how she sometimes overthinks what she shares with the world.

"I feel like I've been beaten down to feel this way," she said. "The way that the world has treated me into feeling extremely anxious about everything that I say. It's really exhausting when anything I say can become a headline, completely taken out of context, and it leads to constant paranoia."

She said that her safety is also something she grapples with daily.

"I had some scary things happen in my personal life and my safety was compromised a couple of times, and that's a big part of my life," she said. "That is something I just have to live with. But I don't know, it really made me resentful of my life, when you can't even be in your own house."

The singer said that these realities of fame have led to struggles with mental health, saying that she experienced depression last year that was "realer than it's ever been."

"My whole life, I've never been a happy person, really," she said. "I've been a joyous person, but not a happy person. I experience joy and laughter and I can find fun in things, but I'm a depressed person. I've suffered with a lot of depression my whole life. When things happen in my soul, or whatever, the thing I've always held on to is 'Well, it'll pass. It'll come in waves and it'll get worse and it'll get better.'"

"And that's always brought me comfort," she added. "And this time, I literally was like, 'I don't care. I don't even want it to get better.'"

'i hit a turning point'.

Eilish said her family, including her brother Finneas, and her best friend Zoe Donahue helped her cope with her depression, and despite the low points, she said she eventually "hit a turning point."

"I had this moment of like, 'Oh, my God, I haven't had fun in seven years,'" she told the outlet. "Truly. I had this illusion that I had, because who experiences going to the Grammys at basically 17 and winning five?"

"But in life, I realized I had really not experienced that much," she added. "I didn't go outside for five years. How was I supposed to have any experiences?"

By not enjoying life as a young adult and not going out, Eilish said it fed into her obsession with being perceived as "cool."

"That used to be a thing I would strive for," she said. "I used to be so obsessed with this mysteriousness, and I think that's 100% why I didn't make any friends, because I didn't want anyone to know me, because I wanted everyone to think of me as this mysterious, cool person."

PHOTO: Billie Eilish performs onstage during the 96th Annual Academy Awards at Dolby Theatre, March 10, 2024, in Hollywood, Calif.

Eilish added that the upcoming album serves as a way to change that mindset and reflect who she is at her core.

"This album, to me, feels like a way to restart, in terms of my sharing," she said.

Billie Eilish Says ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ Is a Return to Her Debut Album: ‘I’ve Been Grieving Her’

Billie Eilish is coming home to herself. In her new Rolling Stone cover story published Wednesday (April 24), the 22-year-old pop star revealed that her third album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, is a return to the darker sounds and styles she introduced on her debut LP When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Billie Eilish to Headline Virtual Fortnite Festival Season 3: Watch the Spooky Trailer

“This whole process has felt like I’m coming back to the girl that I was,” she continued. “I’ve been grieving her. I’ve been looking for her in everything, and it’s almost like she got drowned by the world and the media. I don’t remember when she went away.”

Released in March 2019, Eilish’s debut album spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned her first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 , “Bad Guy.” Later, the projects won her song, record and album of the year at the 2020 Grammys, where she also picked up best new artist.

Two years later, she followed it up with her sophomore effort, Happier Than Ever , about which she said, “I was with myself so much that I couldn’t see myself objectively anymore … And then I dyed my hair blonde and I immediately was like, ‘Oh, I have no idea who I am.’”

Now, she’s working to resurrect what she refers to as “2019 me.” Finneas, Eilish’s older brother and longtime collaborator, corroborates this. “I feel like this album has some real ghosts in it, and I say that with love,” he told the publication. “There’s ideas on this album that are five years old, and there’s a past to it, which I really like. When Billie talks about the era of When We All Fall Asleep , it was this theatricality and this darkness. What’s the thing that no one is as good at as Billie is? This album was an exploration of what we do best.”

She said from the beginning, however, that she wouldn’t be releasing any singles from the new record, something she touched on again in her new interview. “Every single time an artist I love puts out a single without the context of the album, I’m just already prone to hating on it,” she said. “I really don’t like when things are out of context. This album is like a family: I don’t want one little kid to be in the middle of the room alone.”

This is what Billie Eilish talks about when she's not promoting 'Barbie, Barbie, Barbie'

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Billie Eilish is so sick of talking about her Oscar-winning "Barbie" song.

The singer, who co-wrote “What Was I Made For?” with brother-collaborator Finneas for Greta Gerwig's movie, finally has time to talk about how tiring it was to promote the song and attend all those awards ceremonies.

Eilish told the magazine — in what she said was her first non-"Barbie" interview in more than a year — that the song became a bigger hit than she was anticipating.

She and Finneas had writer's block when they were creating the “Barbie” track, and they ended up writing this new song first, she said.

The tune, with its yet-to-be-revealed title, became the catalyst for the emotional and delicate “Barbie” hit, sharing its whispered sound and a similarly graceful melody. It explores the myth that losing weight means gaining happiness — another emotional theme that, like the one in "What Was I Made For?," often plagues girls and women as they grow up.
