Incredible, never sounded better, Mark English is the perfect fit, him and Kevin Quirion help make this the best Deicide lineup ever and I can't wait for the 12th album

Saw them over 4 years ago when I was just starting college. They were at the DNA Lounge touring with Apocryphon, Disgorge, and Broken Hope.

This was actually my very first Metal concert and it was a success. The mosh pits were of course great and Deicide was amazing!

I got to meet Glen Benton and Steve Asheim outside before the show.

Great experience.

Deicide Book 2021 U.S. Tour With Kataklysm, Internal Bleeding + Begat the Nephilim

Death metal legends Deicide have just announced a U.S. tour set for August later this year alongside Kataklysm , Internal Bleeding and Begat the Nephilim.

The tour package features a diverse group of death metal bands and speaks to the subgenre's wide umbrella of styles within its own punishing standard. The 23-date trek will begin in Tampa, Florida on Aug. 5 and finishes up on Aug. 29 in Spartanburg, South Carolina after hitting all quadrants in the country.

Deicide, Internal Bleeding and Begat the Nephilim will all be promoting their 2018 records —  Overtures of Blasphemy ,  Corrupting Influence  and  I: The Surreptitious Prophecy/Mother of Blasphemy  respectively — while Kataklysm will finally be able to hit the road and play selections off last year's  Unconquered  album.

Commenting on the upcoming run, Kataklysm frontman Maurizio Iacono said, "[Deicide vocalist/bassist] Glen Benton and I have been talking about both bands touring together for quite some time now. We intended for this tour to happen last summer, but unfortunately got hit by the virus that paralyzed the world prior to announcing it."

"One year later, judging by the vaccine success and progress across the country, there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel," he continued, "So today, we are proud to announce one of the first Metal packages to hit the road in the States since the pandemic. Deicide, Kataklysm, and our friends in Internal bleeding will take this first long-awaited step across the country. We plan to be there LIVE and UNCONQUERED. Tickets are on sale today and will go fast. Get yours now!"

Good metal band !

Deicide is one the best metal bands, i will see them next year in Guatemala again !

Legion anniversary tour

One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. The set list was almost perfect. Old school at its best. Death Metal veterans showing that age is just a number and setting the example to young generations how it’s done.

Legion Tour

Deicide was phenomenal! Glenn Benton sounds the best I’ve ever heard him. I’ve seen them play dozens of times, this past year alone twice and I’ve never heard him sound better. It’s like listening to him in the 80s as a young man. Great energy! Fantastic vocals!! If you get the chance to see him during the Legion Tour, please do! Dead by Down brought down the crowd. Pit was insane!!!

Florida man yells at French Canadians

Deicide absolutely blew the roof off of the Corona Theatre. The sound was impeccable and the crowd was loud and respectful. Exactly what I would expect from the best city for heavy metal in North America. Deicide's performance was raw and powerful. Raw vocals and shredding guitars only to be blended together with the crashing of drums. Tight musicianship and pure energy and passion for metal. I await your return to Montreal!

I love deicide and the venue was great!

I love the summit every time I’m there I have a great experience

It was awesome!

Glenn Benton still has that strong voice and he can scream loud as in the 90’s. It was very nostalgic to watch an old school band like this. The venue (The Observatory @ Orange County) is really cool, the sound it’s great and the facilities are well organized. Indeed, all of you old school Metal-Maniacs missed this Great show playing the entire second album “Legion”.

Ferocious Metal

A legit metal show. Nary a pretender in the crowd; these were all people who understand Deicide’s greatness. Almost 90 minute set, the band was tight and fired up.

I had a lot the fun and I really enjoyed , the local was excellent

First show back for me

This was my first show back since the pandemic. It was a night to remember. Staff was very accommodating. Had a wonderful time!

Deicide/Kataklysm Show

Great show. Nice venue. Parking garage in the same building. Very convenient. Bands were great. Very little wait between bands which was awesome.

Deicide To Celebrate Classic Album Legion on 2022 North American Tour

Kataklysm and Inhuman Condition will join the death metal pioneers on the late summer outing

Deicide To Celebrate Classic Album Legion on 2022 North American Tour

Deicide are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their sophomore album Legion with a Summer 2022 North American tour.

Kataklysm and Inhuman Condition will support the outing, which kicks off August 11th in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and runs through on September 10th show in Deicide’s hometown of Tampa, Florida. Get tickets via Ticketmaster .

Deicide will be performing 1992’s Legion in its entirety, along with other tracks from their vast discography. Legion , along with the band’s self-titled debut, are widely considered two of the finest albums released during death metal’s formative years. The records also cemented Deicide among the elite acts in Florida’s fertile death metal scene.

Canadian death metal veterans Kataklysm, who also toured with Deicide last year , will be performing their acclaimed 2004 album, Serenity in Fire , in its entirety.

Ahead of the Legion tour, you can also catch Deicide at a pair of festival dates: May 21st at the Modified Ghost Festival in Vancouver and May 29th at Maryland Deathfest, where they will debut their full Legion set.

Deicide formed in 1989 and continue to steadily release studio albums every few years — 2018’s Overtures of Blasphemy being the most recent. Since the beginning, the group has been helmed by eccentric singer-bassist Glen Benton and founding drummer Steve Asheim, proliferating an overtly Satanic style of death metal in contrast to the gore/horror aesthetics often seen in the genre.

DEICIDE Announces Summer 2021 U.S. Tour With KATAKLYSM, INTERNAL BLEEDING

Florida death metal veterans DEICIDE will embark on a U.S. tour at the end of the summer. Support on the 23-date trek will come from KATAKLYSM , INTERNAL BLEEDING and BEGAT THE NEPHILIM . The tour will kick off on August 5 in Tampa, Florida and make stops in Austin, Chicago, and New York before concluding on August 29 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

KATAKLYSM 's Maurizio Iacono comments: "[ DEICIDE frontman] Glen Benton and I have been talking about both bands touring together for quite some time now. We intended for this tour to happen last summer, but unfortunately got hit by the virus that paralyzed the world prior to announcing it. One year later, judging by the vaccine success and progress across the country, there's finally a light at the end of the tunnel. So today, we are proud to announce one of the first metal packages to hit the road in the States since the pandemic. DEICIDE , KATAKLYSM and our friends in INTERNAL BLEEDING will take this first long-awaited step across the country. We plan to be there live and unconquered. Tickets are on sale today and will go fast. Get yours now!"

Confirmed dates for the U.S. tour with DECIDE , KATAKLYSM , INTERNAL BLEEDING and BEGAT THE NEPHILIM are:

Aug. 05 - The Orpheum - Tampa, FL Aug. 06 - The Abbey - Orlando, FL Aug. 07 - Hell (The Masquerade) - Atlanta, GA Aug. 09 - Scout Bar - Houston, TX Aug. 10 - Come and Take it Live - Austin, TX Aug. 11 - Trees - Dallas, TX Aug. 12 - Sunshine Theater - Albuquerque, NM Aug. 13 - Nile Theater - Mesa, AZ Aug. 14 - 1720 - Los Angeles, CA Aug. 15 - Brick by Brick - San Diego, CA Aug. 16 - Goldfield Trading Post - Roseville, CA Aug. 18 - Mesa Theater - Grand Junction, CO Aug. 19 - Metro Music - Salt Lake City, UT Aug. 20 - Marquis Theater - Denver, CO Aug. 21 - The Riot Room - Kansas City, CO Aug. 22 - Reggie’s - Chicago, IL Aug. 23 - The Sanctuary - Detroit, MI Aug. 24 - The Crafthouse - Pittsburgh, PA Aug. 25 - Dingbatz - Clifton, NJ Aug. 26 - Jewel Nightclub - Manchester, NH Aug. 27 - Brooklyn Monarch - Brooklyn, NY Aug. 28 - Baltimore Soundstage - Baltimore, MD Aug. 29 - Ground Zero- Spartanburg, SC

In 2019, DEICIDE parted ways with guitarist Mark English and replaced him with Chris Cannella .

English joined DEICIDE in 2016 following the departure of longtime guitarist Jack Owen .

DEICIDE 's latest album, "Overtures Of Blasphemy" , was released in September 2018 via Century Media .

Asked in a 2018 interview with Tampa Bay Times if he is still personally driven to write about Satanism and Christianity, Benton said: "Honestly, I have tried to write about other things. I really have, man. And you know what? I actually have one song on the new album where I got there. I was like, 'Hey you guys, you want to read through these lyrics, and then read the other ones?' And they were like, 'Oh, wow, let's go with the other one' — the original song that I had written, which is 'One With Satan' . I had given myself writer's block trying to go back and forth between the two. I just can't. If I fight it and try to push it in a certain direction other than where it wants to go, I just get writer's block."

Pressed about whether he still identifies as Satanist, Glen said: "No. I've always said this: They identify me as a Satanist. I identify myself as a free thinker and a kid that was tormented just like everybody else growing up. My mother did a stint as a Sunday school teacher. My father was so-called Catholic; I don't know what he was. And my mother was Lutheran. My grandma was into the whole Latin thing — when she went to church, you couldn't understand it. There was no English spoken. I was a little kid. That knd of stuff creeped the shit out of me. I had a lot of terrifying moments as a child with that shit. Growing up, people would call me an evil bastard. They referred to me as Damien from 'The Omen' .

"It's really odd, whenever I go places. I played Chile a couple of times, and a couple of days after playing there, there was always an earthquake. When we played South America this last tour, we were trying to get out of there, and we had a hurricane coming down on us from one direction, and as soon as we got out of there, they have a huge earthquake.

"It's weird seeing things like that shooting in Clearwater, that Stand Your Ground shooting. Dude, that store is directly across the street from the old DEICIDE house that my grandmother used to own. Directly across the street from the store, next to Coles Gun Shop. That's where DEICIDE started, was at that house. We used to rehearse in that garage. Here's the weird thing: The day before that shooting, I took my girl down there. I said, 'Let me show you where the old house is.' I was actually parked right there by that parking spot where the shooting happened, the day before it happened.

"Every time I go anywhere, something really stupid happens. I used to call it the DEICIDE black cloud, but now I'm starting to think there might be something to it. That's kind of been my life."

11 Reunion Albums That Absolutely Rule

"Given titles like Bury The Cross… With Your Christ, it’d be a sucker’s bet to imagine Deicide taking their boot off the throat of organised religion." Satanic death metallers return from the abyss with Banished By Sin

Six years since their last album, floridian death metal legends deicide offer an infernal comeback on album no. 13.

Deicide band press photo 2024

You can trust Louder Our experienced team has worked for some of the biggest brands in music. From testing headphones to reviewing albums, our experts aim to create reviews you can trust. Find out more about how we review.

It's odd to experience head Deicide-er Glen Benton beaking off about rejuvenation, revitalisation and resurrection. Isn’t that sort of thing verboten in their blasphemy-spewing universe? But hey, rather him than you-know-who, right?

And in the case of the man with the forever-branded forehead, the layoff has been much longer than a piddly three days. Six whole years, to be exact. Given titles like Bury The Cross… With Your Christ , it’d be a sucker’s bet to imagine the unholy Deicide taking their collective boot off the throat of organised religion. But with the ups, downs and wavering degrees of interest involved in a 35-year death metal career, the question then becomes: will Banished By Sin put a temporary ceasefire on the perpetual spinning of classics like Legion , Once Upon The Cross and their much celebrated self-titled debut?

The answer… a solid “maybe”. But probably not. However, that doesn’t automatically discount album 13 or condemn it to be filed alongside widely panned stinkers Insineratehymn and In Torment In Hell . Solid bangers exist in From Unknown Heights You Shall Fall and Doomed To Die , both of which are resplendent in being songs Slayer had been struggling to write since the mid-90s.

Glen has resurrected the layered death growl/Japanese hardcore scream and many songs make fiery reference to the band’s glory days, despite falling just short in consistently challenging their own high watermarks. And even in weaker moments, Taylor Nordberg’s song-within-a-song guitar leads steal the spotlight by attaching melody, harmony and songcraft to the inherent brutality. Christianity isn’t going away anytime soon, which means Deicide will be crusading for a long while, even if the weapon isn’t as lethal as previous incarnations.

Banished By Sin is out April 26 via Reigning Phoenix Music.

Sioux City Public Museum brings history to life during walking tour at Logan Park Cemetery

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -The Sioux City Public Museum taught a memorable history lesson while walking through the Logan Park Cemetery Saturday morning.

The walking tour took place on Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m. The 90-minute walking tour is part of the Museum’s rotating tour of Sioux City cemeteries.

They provide the public with stories of notable individuals who have helped shape Sioux City’s existence such as prominent businessmen, famous cartoonists and more.

Museum Archives Manager, Tom Munson says cemeteries provide a great opportunity to learn about the town’s past.

“We talk about the people buried here. We talk about symbolism on headstones,” Munson said. “I think it’s just a great way for modern citizens to look back at the past, the people who have helped build up this community.”

KTIV’s Clayton Anderson will have more on Logan Park Cemetery in an upcoming episode of Hometown History.

Amateur Miles Russell still ballin’ after making Korn Ferry Tour history

Miles Russell, Veritex Bank Championship

Miles Russell continues to prove himself on the biggest of stages.

The 15-year-old Floridian earned a spot in last week’s LECOM Suncoast Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour and took full advantage of the opportunity by finishing in a tie for 15th. That paved the way for another exemption in Texas, where Russell opened the Veritex Bank Championship with a 3-under 68.

The left-hander opened his round with eight straight pars but finally broke through with a birdie at the par-5 9th. A long-range bomb from 30 feet followed at 11, and another birdie at the par-3 12th came minutes after. Suddenly, Russell sat at 3-under and in a solid position through 12 holes.

Russell made another birdie at the drivable, par-4 16th, which measured 329 yards on Thursday. But he made a costly mistake on the final hole, a par-5, as he three-putted from 25 feet for a bogey six.

Still, Russell played beautifully from tee to green, hitting 13-of-14 fairways and 16-of-18 greens. He scrambled nicely, too, going 2-for-2 when he missed the putting surface with his approaches.

But at the end of the day, Russell is 10 strokes behind Frankie Capan III, who shot 58 and broke Scottie Scheffler’s course record in the process.

Still, Russell has a great chance to make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour again—one week after becoming the youngest player to record a top-25 finish on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour since 1983.

He will likely need another round in the 60s to make the cut again, but knowing how much talent this 15-year-old has, that is most certainly within the realm of possibilities.

World Snooker Championship: Judd Trump says he has rejected offers to join rival tour after reaching quarter-finals

Judd Trump overcomes Tom Ford 13-7 to book place in quarter-finals of World Snooker Championship for 10th time; 2019 champion has spurned advances of rival snooker tour, wants to play somewhere with "history and heritage" - "I don't think I would get out of bed for an exhibition series"

Saturday 27 April 2024 22:14, UK

Judd Trump is into the quarters for the 10th time at the Crucible

Judd Trump revealed he has rejected offers to join a rival snooker tour after easing into the World Championship quarter-finals with a 13-7 victory over Tom Ford in Sheffield.

Trump, the 2019 world champion, says he "would not get out of bed" for a prospective LIV Golf-style breakaway in the sport, insisting he wants to play somewhere with "history and heritage".

The 34-year-old, who will face Jak Jones in the last eight at The Crucible and potentially Ronnie O'Sullivan in the semi-finals if he wins, told reporters: "A few people have tried to contact me and I just couldn't be bothered.

Judd Trump toughed out a deciding frame to beat Kyren Wilson in the first round of the Masters

"At the end of the day everyone wants more money but this isn't the right time for me. I'd be a lot happier winning my money rather than getting gifted it.

"I love playing in the kind of tournament with something on the line. I don't want to lose and feel nothing. I hate losing. I couldn't imagine walking off and getting paid the same, win or lose. It's not the same.

"I'd love for World Snooker to big up the prize money and play for more in the future, but I want to do it with something on the line.

Trump does not see snooker becoming divided

Asked if snooker could encounter the same problems as golf, where the emergence of LV has created a divide in the sport with top names such as Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith leaving the PGA Tour for the Saudi-backed circuit, Trump said: "I don't think there's enough players or enough names that could do damage.

"I think Ronnie [O'Sullivan] is the only one if he left - to be honest, I don't think people are that bothered by anyone else.

"I feel like with what I've established in the game alongside Ronnie, if I'm staying here then the tour will be a strong place."

Ronnie O'Sullivan has continued to question his snooker future after a tough win at the World Grand Prix

Trump, who resumed his match against Ford on Saturday morning 11-5 up, described his performance as "average" and admitted he struggled with the conditions of the table.

"The table was a bit heavy but I think I dealt with it, I wasn't too harsh with myself and I was able to stay patient," said Trump.

"I think it was important to get that 6-2 lead in the first session and I just capitalised. From there you shouldn't really lose it unless you give it away."

Welshman Jones beat fellow qualifier - and 2023 Crucible semi-finalist - Si Jiahui 13-9 to secure a showdown with Trump, before saying: "I feel relieved. It was an absolutely shocking match. Today was a little bit better but I don't know how I won.

"Everyone is expecting a Ronnie-Judd semi-final so I've got nothing to lose and I will just try my best and see what happens."

Higgins: Crucible will be retired before me

Four-time world champion John Higgins , meanwhile, quashed suggestions he could retire later this year.

The 48-year-old - who is playing Mark Allen in the second round and tied at 4-4 with the Northern Irishman after their first session - feels the Crucible will have stopped hosting the World Championship before he decides to walk away.

Sky Sports' Cam Hogwood explains how the Snooker World Championship could be set to move from the tournament's iconic Crucible.

Speculation over a potential move away from the iconic snooker venue has resurfaced in recent weeks, with Saudi Arabia tipped as a potential host after the nation's Riyadh Season became commercial partners with the tournament.

The Crucible's current hosting deal is due to expire in 2027 having staged the competition since 1977.

"No, I won't retire," Higgins told the BBC . "This venue will be retired before I retire from snooker.

"It's a shame, but with all the noises coming out from important people within the game it seems it will be leaving here in three years' time.

"I've had tears, joy, everything rolled into one, and your life has revolved around this venue, and it will be a sad day when it leaves."

Elsewhere, Stephen Maguire leads 2005 world champion Shaun Murphy 10-6 in the race to 13 frames, with the Scot punching the air after winning the final frame of their second session having clawed back a 63-point deficit.

Stuart Bingham, the champion in 2015, holds a 5-3 advantage over Jack Lisowski, while Kyren Wilson , beaten by O'Sullivan in the 2020 final, leads Mark Selby's conqueror Joe O'Connor 6-2.
