Booked the hotel and paid deposit for Christmas Day lunch at 1pm. They called to change the time a couple of days before as they didn’t have enough people for their 2 sittings, had no problem with that. New COVID restrictions changed things and we had to be resident to be able to stay for dinner. I called the hotel on the day of the announcement and reception told me someone from management would be in contact. I called again on Dec 23rd to ask about accommodation, was given a price of €500 for the night but still told someone would come back to me as it was either that or be due a refund for my deposit paid on the meal. Here we are on Dec 27th and still no call. I obviously had to make last minute arrangements for Christmas Day but am really disgusted that the hotel didn’t have the respect and good manners to contact me. Their customer service obviously leaves a lot to be desired. Didn’t even get to visit but wouldn’t be going based on this experience. Still awaiting my refund.

Dear Miss Cossie, Thank you your feedback, On the 23rd when you called you spoke with myself the General Manager, you explained your predicament that you wanted to bring your father out for lunch and was there anyway around the guidelines that were in place where by we could only offer lunch to residents. Unfortunately this was not something that we were prepared to do. I did however offer you a one night stay as a option for you even though this was not something that we had done for anyone else. You are correct in the price quoted of €500 for 2 people for a Christmas Night stay, which included Christmas Day festive feast, Christmas Night Buffet and breakfast the following morning for you and your father. While discussing this with you, you explained to me that your father would be reluctant to stay overnight but that you would discuss it with him, i explained that if our gesture of offering you a one night stay would not work for you then we would of course refund your deposit once our accounts team were back at work. We would have loved to looked after you and your father on Christmas night but unfortunately you did not get back to me and as far as we were concerned you had made alternative arrangements and that you were happy for your deposit to be returned as we had discussed. It is a pity you did not call us to discuss your interpretation of what we had discussed rather than choosing to give a negative review despite the fact we offered you an alternative that we did not offer to anyone else, but we wanted to help you in your difficult predicament. As you point out you were aware of the options available to you so the decision rested with yourself so there was no reason for us to contact you. As discussed our accounts team will be in contact once they return to work. I wish you a very happy New Year and hopefully Covid guidelines will not alter your Christmas plans next year. Positives: Room was lovely and clean. Staff were lovely and friendly. Negatives: No information on the tv on how to dial reception, had to ring the outside line to contact reception from the room. No menus in the room for what bar food is available. The TVs have information about the different venues but nothing about what food there is available so not much use. After ringing the outside line to get reception, we were put through to the bar to order food with no idea what they had. Rather than have the person on the phone list out the whole menu, we just made a guess and ordered chips and garlic bread and then went elsewhere for food later. We asked about ordering breakfast to the room as a treat for our Christmas trip away. We were given a card to order and hang outside our room. At 8:35 our breakfast hadn’t arrived so I checked to make sure it had been collected- it hadn’t. Rang reception and it turned out there was no room service available that morning and it was a mistake to have given us the card. I understand mistakes like this can happen, I just find it unbelievable that on the weekend before Christmas that breakfast in bed isn’t an option for customers. Extremely disappointing. We went downstairs for breakfast, there are menus with hot options that are available but you then have to go and queue up and order it and carry it down on a tray. Again, this is no problem, it just seems very inefficient and I can’t see the point of leaving menus on the table if there is no table service. It means people are all standing close together and isn’t very good from a COVID point of view. I ordered scrambled eggs and they were quiet rubbery, like they had been microwaved. My husband said his fry was lovely. After breakfast I was looking forward to a bath, again as a treat being away, it is a nice thing to do. There was no hot water. Apparently someone had left a tap running in another room adjacent and it was affecting ours. We were offered the use of another room for showering but we were so disappointed and disheartened at this stage that we declined. We just packed up and left. I did tell reception that we had a bad stay and the lady was very polite and did apologise but nothing was done to make us feel like the same mistakes won’t happen if we were to visit again. It felt like a tick the box apology with no action plan to ensure improvements would be made. I then just paid my bill and left. Our only trip away this Christmas and I was looking forward to breakfast in bed and a bath, neither of which I got. Might be a good excuse to book another trip somewhere else if restrictions allow. The staff are the only reason for the two stars, everyone was lovely.

I have addressed the quality of the eggs with the Chef and he in turn has spoken with his team regarding the importance of maintaining consistent standards. Unfortunately there was an issue with the hot water in the part of the hotel you were staying in hence why you were offered a different room to make use of the facilities in, I am sorry if this was not satisfactory to you. My husband & I got a great offer at this hotel. Warm, welcoming, very accommodating friendly staff. Comfortable spacious rooms. Good food. Only disadvantage we had hard drive which fitted TV, but it was disabled so no movies. However I left an item behind in the hotel when I left & it was posted to me. Would definitely recommend a visit. Beautiful beach nearby, very clean & lovely sand hills. Cafe nearby within walking distance.

Kuznetski Most area in Moscow

Kuznetski Most is a small area between Tverskaya street, Kremlin, and Kitai Gorod (Lubyanka) and it's a downtown of Moscow. First of all, 'Kuznya' is a great place to walk: it is a real Moscow area, not a postcard at all, hectic busy streets neighbour tranquil lanes and courtyards with traditional architecture. There are also many very nice cafes, restaurants, clubs, and shops. If you want a cool place to meet people, go for a walk and to get the real feeling of the city, check out this area.

Long time ago there were only half-broken low wooden houses in Kuznetski Most area, and it was the place where poor blacksmithes lived. Blacksmith is 'Kuznets' in Russia, hence the name. In the beginning of the street (on top) there was a bridge over a small river, later this river was put underground, so there's no bridge anymore. About 200 years ago there was a rich Moscovitan noble buying this area. He immediately put away all the blacksmiths' houses and started to build a fancy new district. Just in few years he built up beautiful houses, with impressive ornaments, rich decoration, pools in the courtyards. Also, he opened some French boutiques in the area. That's when Kuznetski Most started to become fashionable. In a short time all the elite moved to this  area, and those who wasn't so fast were coming here to make some shopping and to sit in many of the restaurants and cafes around.  In the 20th century, when the communist times arrived, most of the buildings were given to government offices, some were given to soviet shops. The area became boring, the architecture was slowly deteriorating , but nobody seemed to care. In the beginning of the 90s  the area was revived again: the buildings were  restored , there was many new cafes being opened, boutiques, and shops. One important landmark of Kuznetsky Most is that it's home to FSB (Federal Security Bureau - former KGB) offices, and if you walk along Kuznetsky Most street you can get to the FSB reception, which is open 24 hours (in case you have something to report).
