7 things to do in Fort Collins this summer
Summer days aren't too far away in Fort Collins, with a handful of summer classics gearing back up for the new season.
The city's historic streetcars, food trucks, drive-in theater and more are gearing up — marking the initial signs of a Fort Collins summer. Here are all the signals that the season will soon be upon us.
1. The return of the trolleys
You know summer is near when you see one of Fort Collins' historic streetcars chugging in Old Town. The pair of restored trolleys — Birney Cars 21 and 25 — are back for a new season. Head to the City Park Depot, 1501 W. Oak St., to catch a ride on weekends and holidays. The trolley will run from noon to 5 p.m. every Saturday, Sunday and national holiday through Oct. 1, weather permitting. Trolleys depart from the City Park Depot every 30 minutes. Rides cost $2 for adults and $1 for seniors and children, but children younger than 3 ride free. Cash, credit cards and debit cards are accepted.
2. Fort Collins food trucks get ready to rally
Ready to dine out at Fort Collins' most popular truck stop? Food trucks are once again set to take over Sheldon Drive in City Park for the annual FoCo Food Truck Rally. From May 16 through Sept. 19, more than 18 food trucks will be stationed in the park each Tuesday evening from 5:30 p.m. to dusk. The rally will feature a rotation of 44 total food trucks as well as live music.
The Best Thing I Ate This Week: 'Tis the season for a Home Depot hot dog
3. The drive-in is back
Feeling nostalgic? So is The Holiday Twin Drive-In, Northern Colorado's iconic drive-in movie theater and one of roughly eight still operating across the state. The Holiday Twin reopened April 21 , marking its 55th season of double features set against Fort Collins' foothills.
4. A summer of free tunes is upon us
Free summer concert series recently unveiled their lineups for the season. Thursday Night Live will kick off June 1, with free concerts each Thursday in Old Town through Sept. 7. Meanwhile on Colorado State University's campus, The Lagoon Summer Concert Series is gearing up with a new summer lineup, with its twice-monthly Wednesday night shows starting June 14. Not to be outdone, New Belgium Brewing has brought back its Friday night summer concert series, with free live music from 5-7 p.m. every Friday through October.

6. Summer festivals are within sight
Looking ahead to live music, food trucks and sunscreen ... lots and lots of sunscreen? Fort Collins' summer festival season is almost upon us, with Odell Brewing's Small Batch Festival kicking off the fun and New Belgium Brewing's Tour de Fat rounding the season out.
