The 10 Best Architectural Digest Celebrity House Tours on YouTube
Architectural Digest's YouTube channel, and its "Open Door" series in particular, is one of life's greatest gifts. It filled the void that MTV cribs left in its wake when the series ended in 2010... and we're huge fans.
Because it's not every day we real estate addicts get to see behind the closed doors of luxurious, extravagant, and quirky celebrity homes. From a converted windmill in the Hamptons and a duplex penthouse apartment at the Plaza Hotel in NYC to the mansions of the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles , each home on this list will leave you both in awe and filled with inspiration.
These are the top 10 best Architectural Digest celebrity house tours...
1. robert downey jr..
First up we have Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey's converted windmill abode. This is not your run-of-the-mill (see what we did there?) Hamptons summer home, it was designed by renowned New York City firm Fox-Nahem Associates who transformed the late-19th century windmill into a charming and very private East Hampton masterpiece with stunning grounds. The highlight? Susan's office in the very top of the windmill is the ideal WFH situation and we couldn't be more jealous.
In this very humorous home tour we get to see everything from Robert's art projects and clutter closets to their table-side nap zone and numerous cats. If you're in the mood for a chuckle, look no further.
2. Dakota Johnson
If you love all things mid-century modern, this is the celebrity home tour for you.
Architectural Digest kindly bring us inside the beautiful home of movie star Dakota Johnson. Formerly the home of director Ryan Murphy, Dakota purchased the super private Hollywood Hills home for $3.55 million in 2016. Features of envy include beautiful crushed mohair vintage sofas, her cozy office with book wall, gorgeous green kitchen, and backyard oasis complete with citrus trees, a heated swimming pool, and an elevated bamboo-sheltered hot tub area.
There isn't an inch of this lush but humble abode that we don't love.
3. Wiz Khalifa
This episode of "Open Door" is currently the most viewed of all time with 43 million views. It brings us inside Wiz Khalifa's $4.6 million mansion and recording studio in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles.
The rapper's super cool pad features a heated infinity pool with incredible views, a games room with a dab AND booze bar, an underground recording studio, weed-themed photo wall, and a fleet of killer cars. Proof that this man is living the dream.
4. Cara and Poppy Delevigne
You may never find more personality in a home thanks to the Delevigne sisters' jungle-inspired home in Los Angeles.
Nicolò Bini of Line Architecture told Architectural Digest of the home, “I wanted to create a true L.A. moment for them, with nods to California midcentury modern, Laurel Canyon bohemia, Beverly Hills swank, surfing culture, and a little Mexico. Then we tied all that in with Cara and Poppy’s Englishness to give the house another layer of Delevingne charm.” The interior of this home is one-of-a-kind, no doubt about it.

Over in Benedict Canyon, Los Angeles , you'll find producer and DJ Zedd's $16 million mansion.
Highlights of this Architectural Digest "Open Door" episode include the incredible canyon and hill views, indoor trees, an art gallery, and a Skittle machine. Spanning a whopping 9,500 square feet, this mansion even has its own detached studio and gym and will soon have a separate "guest-house-bowling-alley-complex". Casual...
You can understand why this is the second most viewed video on Architectural Digest's YouTube with a staggering 43 million views.
6. Kendall Jenner
Next up we have supermodel and Kardashian clan member Kendall Jenner whose serene Los Angeles home was designed by Kathleen and Tommy Clements and Waldo Fernandez. The interior of the home blends super tasteful elements and earthy shades with fun, unexpected pops of color and a calm, peaceful atmosphere.
Keep an eye out for Kendall's incredible art collection including a signature James Turrell ovoid wall sculpture as well as her incredible fireplace, beautiful bar, art studio, dream-worthy chef's kitchen, gold bathtub, glam room, and so much more.
7. J Balvin
Travel with us to Colombia for this next "Open Door" episode where we get to explore superstar J Balvin's tranquil home. Inspired by Japan aesthetics and minimalism, the house features floor-to-ceiling windows that bring nature indoors. The open plan kitchen and living room open up to the great outdoors, with a wonderful indoor / outdoor flow. The pool area is beyond dream-worthy and is surrounded by lush and tropical greenery and bonsai trees.
The minimalism and neutral color palette changes greatly when you enter J Balvin's walk-in closet where over 850 pairs of sneaker line the walls in explosions of color. The man loves his shoes...
8. Hilary Duff
Next we'll enjoy a tour of Hilary Duff's vibrant, colorful, and cheerful family home in Los Angeles . A self-confessed home renovation addict, Hilary has renovated this house twice in the last eight years. The latest one has resulted in a quirky and somewhat eccentric aesthetic with a focus on family, livability, and large spaces to spend time in with beautiful art and tasteful features throughout.
The highlight of this home tour has got to be the chicken coop out in the back yard.
9. Tommy Hilfiger
Journey back to New York with us now for what may be the most luxurious and opulent home on this list. Legendary fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and his wife Dee reportedly purchased this duplex penthouse apartment at the Plaza Hotel for $25.5 million in 2008 (they've since sold it for $31 million, although originally listed it for $80 million).
This Plaza apartment overlooks Central Park, with incredible views of the city as far as the eye can see. This particular unit steeped in history having once hosted the likes of The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, and many more iconic figures. You won't find another apartment like this in New York City.

10. Aaron Paul
Come check out Aaron Paul's custom wood and stone Idaho home. Despite the house being enormous, it has a very cozy, almost cabin-like vibe to it, tucked away in the snowy mountains and surrounded by trees and lakes. Just watching this home tour will make you feel warm 'n' fuzzy inside.
With the help of interior designer Jake Arnold and Pearson Design Group, the Pauls purchased and used the wood from three 120-year-old barns to build the house from scratch. Drool over the cathedral ceilings, vast living spaces, stone bathrooms, spacious bedrooms, and an incredible floor-to-ceiling fireplace.
Plus, a bonus one, but a must-watch nonetheless.
11. Naomi Campbell
Last but not least, we just haaad to include icon Naomi Campbell's Kenya compound and airy villa. On the coast of the Indian Ocean, in the tranquil seaside town of Malindi, lies this tranquil and "very calming place".
From the indoor/outdoor flow and two pools, to the restaurant-like outdoor dining area and on-site spa - we've never seen anything quite like this one... take a look for yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:
From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.
At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.
According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.
The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.
Coffee Ring
The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.
Zodiac Metro
According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.
Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.
Paleontological finds
Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!
- Every day each car in Moscow metro passes more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
- Moscow subway system is the 5th in the intensity of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
- The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is 90 seconds .

Moscow Metro
The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.
What is the kremlin in russia?
The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.
And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.
During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.
There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Balmoral Castle: See Inside the Royal Family Home for the First Time This Summer
By Michelle Duncan
Get ready for an up-close-and-personal look into the lives of King Charles and Queen Camilla. Balmoral Castle , the Scottish holiday residence of the British royals, will open its doors to the public for private tours of the interiors this summer—a first since the castle’s completion in 1855.
In a new promotion dubbed The Balmoral Experience , guests will be taken on a guided tour through rooms in the castle used by the royals from July 1 to August 4. Visitors will learn about the history and use of the spaces along the way. A tour of the Aberdeenshire castle is priced at about $126 dollars (£100) for an adult ticket, plus an extra $63 (£50) for those who add on the option of afternoon tea.
“Travel through time from the purchase of the Balmoral Estate by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, through to the present day, where you can see a selection of rooms within the castle that are used by Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family,” states the castle’s official Instagram page.
Since 1931, Balmoral’s gardens and grounds open up to the public every spring. The ballroom has been the only interior space previously accessible to outsiders until now.

Fans of the British royals expressed their excitement in the comments section of the Instagram post. Unfortunately, if you haven’t already purchased a ticket, you’ll have to wait until next year for an expedited or guided tour; according to the official website, those tickets are already sold out just only one day after the announcement. General admission tickets are still available, but those are also quickly being snapped up.
Located in the Scottish Highlands , Balmoral Castle is one of two properties personally owned by King Charles (the other being Sandringham Castle). The King inherited the property after Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022. Balmoral Castle was one of the late Queen’s favorite places, and where she took her final breaths. “I think Granny is the most happy there,” Princess Eugenie once told ITV of the estate.

King Charles is also quite fond of the retreat. “I cannot tell you how much I miss Balmoral and the hills and the air—I feel very empty and incomplete without it all,” he said in 1968, before leaving for his second year at Cambridge. Last year , the King began his contribution to the gardens, which include a stretch of cherry blossoms and thousands of daffodils, expanding the work that royals have been adding to the gardens since Prince Albert.
Those unable to score Balmoral tour tickets can get their fill of the royal experience at Buckingham Palace, which will open its east wing to the public this summer for the first time.

Hank Aaron rose above racist hate mail and threats in pursuit of Ruth’s home run record 50 years ago
The Atlanta Braves will mark the 50th anniversary of Hank Aaron's 715th home run on Monday

ATLANTA (AP) — Hank Aaron refused to be intimidated by racist hate mail or threats during his pursuit of Babe Ruth’s home run record.
Aaron’s teammates, including Dusty Baker, worried on his behalf even as the future Hall of Famer circled the bases following his record-breaking 715th homer on April 8, 1974. Baker, who was on deck, and Tom House, who caught the homer in the Atlanta bullpen behind the left-field wall, will return Monday for the 50-year anniversary of the homer.
After sprinting from the bullpen to deliver the ball to Aaron at home plate, House found Aaron’s mother giving the slugger a big hug.
“You could see both of them with tears in their eyes,” House told The Associated Press. “… It was a mother and son. Obviously, that was cool. It was also mom protecting her boy from — at that time, everybody thought somebody would actually try to shoot him at home plate.
“So there were all kind of things. I gave him the ball. I said, ‘Here it is, Hank.’ He said ‘Thanks, kid.’”
Baker referred to Aaron as a father figure or big brother who looked out for him as he began his playing career with the Braves. Baker and other teammates, including Ralph Garr, tried to look out for Aaron during the home run chase.
“We always felt the need to protect him, always felt that need,” Baker said last week. “I think we were more afraid for him than he was actually afraid because he never showed any fear of the threats or whatever. It seems like it drove him to a higher concentration level than ever before was possible.”
Baker retired as Houston’s manager following the 2023 season.
Bob Hope, then the Braves media relations director, said Aaron would not be deterred by the threats issued late in the 1973 season as he approached Ruth’s record of 714 career homers.
“One time the FBI wanted to come meet with him on a Sunday and asked him not to play because they felt they had legitimate death threats on him,” Hope said.
“We went down to the clubhouse and sat down with him and Hank just said: ‘What kind of statement would that be? I am a baseball player. You guys do what you need to do to keep things secure, but I’m playing baseball.’ And I thought that was very reflective of his personality all the way through.”

Hope said most fan mail Aaron received was positive. “The hate mail was not pleasant, but there wasn’t nearly as much as you’re led to believe,” Hope said. “It was just a very, very small percentage of the fans were causing that problem.”
Hope and Baker remained close to Aaron after Aaron’s career and until his death in 2021 at 86.
“One of the honors of your life that you don’t want is when Hank died, at his funeral, Dusty and I were the only two nonfamily pallbearers,” Hope said. “When I realized that at the funeral, it was almost overwhelming.”
Wonya Lucas, Aaron’s niece and the daughter of Bill Lucas, who with the Braves in 1976 became Major League Baseball’s first African American general manager, said she can remember “Uncle Hank” remaining strong during the chase. She said that stayed constant even when threats led to police cars showing up at Aaron’s home and Aaron’s oldest daughter, Gaile, having to return home from college.
“I certainly understood the gravity of the situation and how the mood shifted is probably a good way to put it,” Wonya Lucas said Friday. “But I do also remember his quiet strength, and despite all those conditions I described I felt safe in the home because I felt he gave us a sense of comfort.”
To mark the 50-year anniversary of Aaron’s 715th homer, the Atlanta History Center will open a new exhibit to the public celebrating Aaron on Tuesday that will remain open through the 2025 All-Star Game in Atlanta. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is expected to attend a preview of the exhibit on Monday.
Aaron’s bat and the ball he hit for the record homer, normally housed at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, will be on display at Truist Park on Monday.
The Hank Aaron Invitational is designed to encourage high school players from diverse backgrounds to play at higher levels. Alumni of the Hank Aaron Invitational include Cincinnati pitcher Hunter Greene, who participated in 2015, and Braves outfielder Michael Harris II, who played in 2018.
Major League Baseball also supports other initiatives, including the Andre Dawson Classic, designed to promote diversity in the sport.
“For me, just having somebody that looked like me that could be that successful and do the things he’s done, the road he paved for players like me, that’s pretty huge,” Harris said Friday.
Despite those efforts, the number of Black players on major league rosters has declined. A study done by The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport at Central Florida revealed African American players represented just 6.2% of players on MLB opening day rosters in 2023, down from 7.2% in 2022. Both figures from the institute’s latest reports were the lowest since the study began in 1991.
A recent spike in the number of African American first-round draft picks provides hope that MLB’s efforts, including the Hank Aaron Invitational, may make a difference.
