Pink at University of Bolton Stadium — stage times, setlist and more

Pink returns to the UK after four years and Manchester for the first time in a decade.

Danny Jones

Pop legend Pink is in Manchester as we speak ahead of her massive gigs at the University of Bolton Stadium this week, set to play not one but two shows at the Wanderers’ home ground.

Having been around since 1995 if you can believe that, the legendary Noughties singer recently released her ninth studio album, Trustfall , back in February and is now set to embark on a huge world tour entitled ‘ Summer Carnival ‘.

The UK leg, her first since 2019, consists of six big shows across Britain, but Manchester has the honour of not only hosting Pink for the first time in 10 years but being the one to kick off her world tour, which already consists of over 70 dates, nine different countries and runs all the way into 2024.

It might surprise a few to see that Pink’s playing at a football stadium in Bolton to get things started, but she’s played there multiple times before and while she might not have heard about the recent name change , it’s somewhere she’s more than familiar with. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by P!NK (@pink)

Tickets for Pink’s Manchester gig

It’ll be no surprise to hear that tickets to see one of the biggest pop artists of the past 20+ years aren’t exactly abundant but, fear not, if you’re a big Pink fan there are still some available for both nights.

The bad news is, given they’re in such high demand and the gigs are literally around the corner, they’ll cost you a fair few quid, to say the least.

The cheapest seats remaining on Wednesday, 7 June will set you back £135 per person; as for the following Thursday, 8 June, not only are there still some seats available at the same price but there are even a handful of Gold Standing Tickets in The Circle that will cost you £162.

Even the VIP packages for these gigs are all sold out as there are literally hundreds of people set to raise their glass to the pop sensation’s return.

pink uk tour uk

Pink support acts at Bolton Stadium

As if seeing Pink wasn’t enough, the Pennsylvania songstress will be accompanied by three different support across her double-header at the UniBol Stadium.

For those of you who do manage to get a ticket, she will be joined by fellow American singer-songwriter Gayle , rising DJ and producer KidCutUp who played her last tour, as well as fellow pop hit-makers, The Script.

Talk about a warm-up act — seeing The Script is a pricey ticket on its own, let alone a trio of exciting artists and then Pink!

Their appearances on Pink’s impending tour are also among the first the Irish group will play following the passing of their guitarist and co-founder Mark Sheehan back in April, having got back on stage in Blackpool earlier this week. It’ll no doubt be just as emotional an occasion for them on Wednesday.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Script (@thescriptofficial)

Predicted setlist

Now, as for what Pink will be playing on her opening night in Bolton , we don’t really have any other gigs this year to go off, however, you can bet you’ll be hearing plenty of the new album as well as plenty of the classics from down the years.

We’re not going to lie, this setlist is adjusted from her last big show at Austin City Limits back in October 2022 and based on the stuff she’s played most this year according to Setlist.fm , so there’s a fair bit of guesswork here but here’s an idea of what you might get to hear:

  • Get The Party Started
  • What About Us
  • When I Get There
  • F**kin’ Perfect
  • Just Give Me a Reason
  • Never Gonna Not Dance Again
  • Please Don’t Leave Me
  • Just Like a Pill
  • Me and Bobby McGee (Kris Kristofferson)
  • Nothing Compares 2 U (Prince cover)
  • Raise Your Glass
  • So What (encore)

So long as we hear ‘Get The Party Started’ we’ll be happy, to be honest — top-tier banger.

Stage times

As for set times, the University of Bolton Stadium’s doors are set to open at 4.30pm, with the first of the warm-ups, KidCutUp , beginning an hour later — one of three occasions he’ll be keeping the crowd entertained over the course of the evening.

Then at 6.45pm Gayle will play a roughly half-an-hour set before KidCutUp returns for the interval. As for the big support, The Script will be taking to the stage for an hour from 7:30-8:30pm.

Making a final appearance for 20 minutes as the main event, KidCutUp will once again get the crowd ready and raring to go before Pink arrives at around 8:50pm, will the show set to end no later than 11pm.

With such an early start time and so much music to enjoy on Wednesday and Thursday, it’s going to be a brilliant couple of nights in Bolton.

Travel and parking

As for how you’re going to get to Pink’s Bolton gigs, one of the best parts about Greater Manchester is our brilliant public transport networks mean you can always get around.

With a shuttle bus running from Bolton Interchange, Chorley Railway Station and Wigan Robin Park to the stadium on both nights between 2-8pm, Big Green Coaches available from various locations, as well as Horwich Parkway as your nearest train station, there are several options for travelling to the gig.

As for if you’re driving in, there are plenty of places to drop gig-goers around the stadium and if you’re looking for parking, there are around 1800 spaces available at the stadium per night.

Parking spots, including 120 blue badge disability spaces, will be first-come-first-serve and bookable via the Evology app for £25. You can find out more information about pricing and how to book, as well as plenty of other travel information down below.

Pink was one of the first big musical artists to ever play at Bolton Wanderer’s home stadium and helped usher the likes of The Killers, Little Mix, Coldplay, Elton John and more to join her.

With that in mind, it’s only fitting that she’s returned to the venue that she’s remained so fond of, declaring, “ Manchester, I am so in love with you ” after arriving in Manchester at the start of this week.

Writing in a statement on the University Bolton Stadium Hotel website, Pink said : “It’s been a long three years and I’ve missed live music so so much… So it’s finally time! I am so excited to get back to the UK and Europe to sing, cry, sweat and make new memories with my friends. It’s going to be magical!”

The mum of two even took her daughter Willow out in Trafford Park to celebrate her 12th birthday. Even hearing her name next to random Manc boroughs still sounds a bit surreal but we’re absolutely here for it — roll on Wednesday night!

Not the first place I'd expect to see Pink. 🤣 https://t.co/JZCEqiCFOh — The Manc (@TheMancUK) June 6, 2023

Three new shows have been announced for an open-air gig series at Barton Aerodrome this summer.

Barton LIVE has today confirmed that McFly, JLS and UB40 will be taking to the stage, where the backdrop will be the bustling runway of Barton Airport.

The summer series also includes performances from The Jacksons Live, 90s Baby Festival, and Boogietown North.

Barton LIVE’s summer series takes place at one of the country’s most unique and exhilarating settings at Barton Aerodrome , where the worlds of music and aviation come together.

The three new shows that have just been announced kick off with McFly on Thursday 12 September.

The pop-rockers, famed for their hits like Five Colours In Her Hair, All About You and Obviously, will take centre stage with a typically high-energy performance.

Then on Saturday 14 September, the stage will be given over to British boy band royalty JLS, whose chart-topping hits include Beat Again, Everybody in Love, and She Makes Me Wanna.

Their signature blend of R&B, pop, soul and silky-smooth vocals will be part of Barton LIVE’s star-studded end-of-summer line-up.

Peter Kay Co-op Live gigs cancelled

Just a day before the venue was set to welcome its very first act, Co-op Live has announced that arena opener Peter Kay’s gigs have unfortunately been cancelled and postponed until later this month.

Both of Peter Kay ‘s highly-anticipated shows have ultimately had to be called off after Co-op Live revealed that the brand-new entertainment venue is simply not ready to welcome guests just yet, with work still to be completed on key areas of the building, namely power supply issues.

Issuing a regretful statement on social media, the arena has confirmed that the shows will now be rescheduled to Monday and Tuesday, 29-30 April.

This comes barely a day after its official opening event this past weekend which also saw thousands have their tickets cancelled for the accompanying ‘test gig’.

An important update from Co-op Live. Following our first test event on Saturday, regretfully we have made the difficult decision to reschedule our two opening performances by Peter Kay. These dates will move from 23 April and 24 Wednesday to Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 April. pic.twitter.com/SxW50Ph5hm — Co-op Live (@TheCoopLive) April 22, 2024

Addressing the situation online, Co-op Live said: “Following our first test event on Saturday, regretfully we have made the difficult decision to reschedule our two opening performances by Peter Kay…

“It is critical to ensure we have a consistent total power supply to our fully electric sustainable venue, the completion of which is a few days behind. Rescheduling gives us the extra time we need to continue testing thoroughly.

“This is vital to satisfy the rigorous set of guidelines and protocols that are necessary for a venue of this size. Peter Kay has very graciously agreed to perform his record-breaking comedy at Co-op Live on 29 (rescheduled from 23) and 30 (rescheduled from 24) April 2024.

“All tickets remain valid and ticket holders will be contacted by their point of purchase. Refunds will be available for those who can no longer attend. We are very sorry for the inconvenience that this change will undoubtedly cause for some.” Safe to say many of those looking forward to the show have been left frustrated.

Please tell me why I am finding this out of flipping TWITTER and have not been emailed?! — 🧜🏽‍♀️ Lauren Sparks – Book Siren 🧜🏽‍♀️ (@thickthighnolie) April 22, 2024

Speaking to The Manc , a Stockport gig-goer who had tickets said they had to find out via social media and that her group had still received no email notifying them about the cancellation, adding, “We just logged into the app to find the date on our tickets had been changed to next Monday”.

As for the beloved Bolton -born stand-up and British comedy legend himself, Kay added: “I’m truly gutted as I know how disappointing this will be for everyone with tickets, but obviously it’s a brand-new venue and it’s important that everything is finished and safe for full capacity audiences.

“Fortunately, we’ve been able to reschedule the shows to next week, (I’ll have to miss my Bums & Tums class) but hopefully I’ll see you then.”

The venue also went on to assure that they will still be hosting The Black Keys on 27 April in the lower bowl with 10k fans as planned and will continue to test the resilience of the venue and its operations for the time being.

They also reminded fans who previously missed out on tickets that due to dates being moved, tickets may now become available.

Recent tour reviews

When I first bought the tickets they seemed expensive but having attended the show I think they were worth every penny.

I felt that Pink is an amazing entertainer who engaged with the audience and also showed appreciation for the other performers. Not only this but she has ( as evidenced by the video clips) done lots of ambassadorship things for worthy causes.

I felt she can across as a very warm caring person of incredible talent and I enjoyed the whole event.

Would definitely like to see her in concert again. Truly spectacular.

I had seen P!nk live at Madison Square Garden in NYC once before when she had started using the silks onstage, so I knew her shows were impressive. But nothing prepared me for last night. Not only does she entertain with a well-choreographed show, she’s humble, she’s funny and the show brims with passion. This is a well-rehearsed production, yet she still makes it feel spontaneous. There are lots of fast rock-out songs with pyrotechnics but also quiet moments where her voice shines during the ballads. Highlights for me were the nod to Gwen Stefani/No Doubt blend of Just a Girl with her own Funhouse and her flying all around the arena like Tinkerbell during So What. What a phenomenal show. What a phenomenal performance. P!nk sure gives you your money’s worth. I tend to avoid big stadium concerts, but for P!nk I’ll gladly make an exception. Go see her! You won’t regret it.

This tour date was my second time seeing P!NK on the Beautiful Trauma tour. (I got to travel to Charlottesville for a date on the tour in 2019.) When the Charlotte, NC, date was announced for this March, I had hoped to be able to go because it's near my birthday this time. This date was just as awesome. (I have listened to P!NK's albums since her first album was released when I was an assistant manager in a music store.)

P!NK is personal, on point, and gives audience participation a new meaning. She's working hard to keep her body prepped to do everything she does on stage, and as a female in her age group as well as a lifelong singer and musician's spouse, I applaud her voice and her choices in everything she puts together for her concert tour dates. If you were hesitant to go to the tour date because you hear her music and do not go to concerts, then I recommend you try to go to at least one tour date. You will not be disappointed!

The best ways to see the rare Pink Moon in the UK tonight and why it's not what you expect

The best ways to see the rare Pink Moon in the UK tonight and why it's not what you expect

There are ways to make your stargazing much more enjoyable with a pink moon due tonight.

Britt Jones

If you thought the Moon was done with giving you amazing visuals, hold on to your hats.

You’ve seen the Moon white, you’ve seen the Moon orange, red, eclipsed and so on…but pink?

Introducing the Pink Moon , which will hit your location tonight!

As we enter Spring, Brits will be pleased to see that the sky is also celebrating the change in seasons to something a little sunnier and colourful.

The Pink Full Moon will be on full display for all to see and Parkdean Resorts released a list for how you can see it tonight after the 8pm sunset.

If you’re an aspiring astronomer, grab your telescope and be ready in your garden for 11.49pm, when the Pink Moon will be clearest.

The Pink Moon is upon us! (Eve Livesey / Getty Images)

Let’s explore what tonight has in store:

What is a Pink Moon?

The Pink Moon said to be the starting sign that Spring has arrived.

But there’s a catch.

Pink is a metaphorical name for blooming flowers, which is indicative of the shift to a season where flowers will begin to open and display.

It’s named after the ‘moss pink herb’ or ‘creeping phlox’ which is the most common flower to bloom in the Northern Hemisphere during Spring.

The Moon will actually be its usual colour.

How can I see the Pink Moon?

Parkdean Resorts suggests these five tips:

There are ways to get a better view of the Pink Moon tonight (Christophe Lehenaff / Getty Images)

1. The higher the better

The higher up you are, the better your ability will be to see the Pink Moon.

So, if you’ve got a three-storey house, just walk up to the top or if there’s a hill nearby, that’s your perfect stargazing spot.

If you want to watch the event with the best view possible, do it in darkness.

Switch off all of your lights and allow the glow to shine clearer for you.

3. Clear skies only

If you see a cloud starting to brew, it’s time to pack up and move elsewhere.

Choosing a spot with clear skies is essential for the best chances of seeing the sky, and luckily according to weather reports, tonight should be clear.

How will you be seeing it tonight? (Vicki Smith / Getty Images)

4. Make sure you know what you’re looking at

If you’re planning on staring blankly at the sky, make it fun and research the stars around the Moon.

Apps such as Star Chart are likely enhance the experience.

5. Plan for planet visibility

If you use the website Time and Date, you can find out where the planets are most visible in your location.

This means you can enjoy the stars, Moon and some hidden planets while you’re at it and make it an experience like no other.

Where will you be watching?

Fontaines D.C. announce huge 2024 UK and Ireland headline tour

The dates come ahead of their upcoming album ‘Romance’

Grian Chatten vocalist of Fontaines D.C. performs on the main stage during day two of the TRNSMT Festival at Glasgow Green on July 09, 2022 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Fontaines D.C. have announced details of a huge UK and Ireland tour, set to kick off later this year. Find ticket details below.

  • READ MORE: Fontaines D.C.’s daring comeback single ‘Starburster’ is their most experimental work yet

Announced today (Friday, April 19), the new dates arrive in celebration of the band’s upcoming album, ‘Romance’ .

Grian Chatten and co. shared news of their fourth LP earlier this week, dropping the pummelling new single ‘Starburster’ and confirming that it will be arriving later this August.

Produced by James Ford ( Arctic Monkeys , Foals , Depeche Mode ), the release will mark the follow-up to 2022’s acclaimed ‘ Skinty Fia ‘ and will be shared via XL Recordings. Visit here to pre-order it.

The new tour dates are set to take place across the latter half of 2024, and kick off on November 20 with an opening night at The Halls venue in Wolverhampton. From there, the tour will continue with a gig at Alexandra Palace in London two days later.

Shows in Cardiff, Plymouth, Nottingham and Manchester are lined up for the remainder of the month, and the final three shows will take place during the first week of December.

The December shows include a gig at First Direct Arena in Leeds (3), Glasgow’s OVO Hydro Arena (4), and finally, a stop at the 3Arena in Dublin on December 6.

Support for all dates will come from Sorry , and DIIV will also be joining the Irish band for the gig at Alexandra Palace.

Tickets go on sale next Friday (April 26) at 10am and will be available here . Fans who pre-order the album by 3pm on April 23 will also have access to pre-sale tickets. Check out a full list of new tour dates below.

Grian Chatten of Fontaines DC performs on stage on the second day of TRNSMT Festival at Glasgow Green on July 09, 2022 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Fontaines D.C. upcoming UK and Ireland tour dates are:

NOVEMBER 20 – Wolverhampton – The Halls 22 – London – Alexandra Palace 24 – Cardiff – Utilita Arena 26 – Plymouth – Pavilions 27 – Nottingham – Motorpoint Arena 29 – Manchester – Aviva Studios

DECEMBER 3 – Leeds – First Direct Arena 4 – Glasgow – OVO Hydro 6 – Dublin – 3Arena

The 9-date tour through November and December will follow a summer of extensive festival shows for Fontaines D.C., which includes performances at Glastonbury , Reading & Leeds , Fuji Rock, Pukkelpop Festival, and more.

The announcement of ‘Romance’ also came with the release of lead single, ‘Starburster’ – a song inspired by frontman Grian Chatten suffering a panic attack and accompanied by a sinister and cinematic video directed by Aube Perrie ( Megan Thee Stallion , Harry Styles , The Hives ).

Reviewing the track, NME noted how the band had “taken a perfect left turn” , adding: “Leaning on the Massive Attack trip-hop noir vibes first hinted at on ‘Skinty Fia’’s title track, ‘Starburster’ is a pensive art-rock beast that fuses elements of electronica and hip-hop more akin to their fellow striking countrymen (and recent collaborators ) KNEECAP .

“Bravado meets psychedelia as the frontman says he’s ‘over harder than a turned up challenger’ and ‘the pig on the Chinese calendar’.” it added. “The video, too – a fever dream of blood, animals and a cast of misfits trying to find their way – further supports their referencing of Shygirl and Sega Bodega as key inspirations.”

Speaking about the title of the album, bassist Conor Deegan said: “We’ve always had this sense of idealism and romance. Each album gets further away from observing that through the lens of Ireland, as directly as ‘ Dogrel ‘. The second album (‘ A Hero’s Death ‘) is about that detachment, and the third is about Irishness dislocated in the diaspora. Now we look to where and what else there is to be romantic about.”

He added: “This record is about deciding what’s fantasy – the tangible world, or where you go in your mind. What represents reality more? That feels almost spiritual for us.”

Since their third album, ‘Skinty Fia’, Fontaines D.C. have also covered Nick Drake’s ‘Cello Song’ for a compilation album .

In December, the band teamed up with Massive Attack and Young Fathers to announce the release of a limited edition 12” single to support Médecins Sans Frontières in their relief efforts in Gaza. The ‘Ceasefire’ EP will arrive on June 1.

Deadly pink cocaine drug that killed boy, 14, found in Ibiza and the UK

As the summer and party season hits soon, police have issued a warning about pink cocaine being used in places like Ibiza and the UK.

Pink cocaine – which is a mix of ketamine and ecstasy – killed a 14-year-old boy in Madrid, Spain , in February, and is becoming increasingly popular.

The 14-year-old from Madrid died after drinking Red Bull spiked with two grams of the narcotic.

His parents claim him and two friends met up with strangers they connected with on Instagram – and he had no idea his drink contained drugs.

The drug issue in Ibiza is explored in a new BBC documentary by former Love Island star Zara McDermott called Ibiza: Secrets of the Party Island.

In the series, she helps helps police uncover a bag of the drug thrown into bushes by a drug dealer and meets a drugs boss who says dealers can make £43,000 a day.

She says: ‘When I post I am in Ibiza, I’ve actually had people posting and offering me drugs. It is interesting how people are using social media to sell drugs.

‘It is not just something you find down a back alley, it is on your Instagram.

pink cocaine and police

‘Everyone knows drugs exist everywhere and are somewhat part of Ibiza culture, but having been sat in the back of a police car, learning… street dealers are making huge amounts of money because they are taking the risk.’

As part of the rise in places like Ibiza, Spanish authorities have launched a campaign warning people about the health risks of the drug.

These include blurred vision, panic attacks, anxiety, heart problems and strokes.

A police source told the Majorca Daily Bulletin : ‘It’s so powerful that it causes severe hypertension and can lead to heart failure. It’s a bomb because it is ecstasy and amphetamines in powder form. People don’t know what they are consuming.’

According to Berta de la Vega, coordinator of Energy Control, a Spanish drugs testing facility, the drug is not expensive to make.

Dealers buy a gram of MDMA for about 40 euros and ketamine for between 20 and 35 euros.

Ibiza is not the only place the drug is taken and has been found in cities like Leeds, and Lost Village Festival in Lincolnshire.

The drug has been around now for a while and in 2016 police busted a lab staffed by Columbians where the drug was being made – and found that the gang were actually organising music events to sell the drug.

Nas has announced a new UK and European tour to mark the 30th anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album Illmatic .

The 50-year-old rapper will perform Illmatic , which he released at the age of 20, in full.

Register below to buy advance tickets in the presale.

The 15-date tour will begin in Finland in October before arriving in Britain on 10 November for shows in Manchester, Edinburgh, Wolverhampton and London.

The platinum-certified album includes classic Nas tracks such as “N.Y State of Mind”, “Halftime”, “The World Is Yours” and “It Ain’t Hard to Tell” and is regularly cited as one of the most important and influential records in rap history.

In 2021, The Independent ’s Sam Moore wrote : “As listeners of Illmatic and the rest of his discography know, Nas was always an old head with a baby face, more philosopher than hustler – but he is also a linguistic genius, capable of bending words, rhymes and syllables at will.”

The new tour will begin at the House of Culture in Helsinki, Finland on 22 October. It will then call at B-K in Stockholm, Sweden (24 October), Kb Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark (25 October), the Palladium in Cologne, Germany(27 October), Fabrique in Milan, Italy (30 October) and Halle 622 in Zurich, Switzerland on 31 October.

In November, Nas will play the Gasometer in Vienna, Austria (2 November), the Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin, Germany (3 November), AFAS Live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (5 November), Le Zenith in Paris, France (7 November) and Stadthalle Offenbach in Offenbach, Germany on 8 November.

In the UK, Nas will appear at the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester (10 November), Usher Hall, Edinburgh (11 November), University Wolverhampton at the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton (14 November) and finally the Royal Albert Hall in London on 15 November.

Fans can register here to buy tickets in the presale, which begins at 10am BST on Tuesday 23 April.

General tickets go on sale at 10am BST on Thursday 25 April.

In a five-star review of Nas’ 2021 album King’s Disease 2 , The Independent ’s Annabel Nugent wrote: “While most of today’s prominent rappers were not yet born when a 20-year-old Nasir Jones was coming up in New York City, you’d be hard-pressed to find one that doesn’t cite his 1994 benchmark debut Illmatic as an inspiration. A wordsmith, revered elder statesman, teacher, storyteller: the legend around Nas is all-encompassing.”
