Vivid cruises are available most days of the week. As seating is limited, preferred dates sell out quickly. Vivid runs from 24th May to 15th June in 2024 so make sure to book your preferred date.

Where does the Vivid boat cruise start?

Your Sydney Harbour wharf location will differ depending on your boat cruise or tour. Most boat cruises start from King St wharf in Darling Harbour, but some pick up from closer to Circular Quay or around the Rocks. Please read the cruise description and check your tickets for when to meet your boat and where.

What to expect on the night?

Departing from close to the city, you’ll get to see all the beautiful sights on Sydney Harbour. Vivid boat cruises will head past the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, so make sure you have your camera ready for that incredible photo with these landmarks in the background.

What happens to my Vivid boat cruise in bad weather?

In bad weather, boats still tend to go out. Boat cruise cancellations don’t occur in rainy weather unless deemed unsafe. For a complete list of cancellation policies, please read each boat cruise’s terms and conditions carefully.

What’s included in my Vivid boat cruise?

The Vivid cruises are a sightseeing tour through the harbour so many have minimal inclusions. For each boat cruise, what comes included will be different. Please read the tour description carefully to ensure what to expect on the water.

Are there bathrooms on my boat cruise?

The boat cruises will have a bathroom on board.

Please remember that these are marine toilets for boats with bathrooms on board. Only put what comes out of you into the toilet. Make sure you read any instructions in the bathroom for how to properly operate the restroom or check with the crew on board.

What should I bring on my boat cruise?

Your boat cruise will be on Sydney Harbour. Dress appropriately for the weather. For cooler evenings, make sure you have something warm. Most boats will have an area inside for cover but you don’t want to be inside as you sail past the harbour sights light up at night. Bring comfortable shoes and heels are typically not allowed on the ship for safety reasons and to make sure it doesn’t damage the floor.

Every year, Sydney is transformed into a spectacular canvas of lights when the Vivid Sydney festival takes over the city after dark. Vivid Sydney is the biggest festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. It was even named Best Tourism Event at the Australian Event Awards in 2014.

Last year’s Vivid Sydney featured a wild mix of projection mapping and interactive displays wherein the vessels on Sydney Harbour were also decorated with special colored LED lights for the first time. This year, audiences can expect much of the same and more.

We rang the Cruise office to confirm cancellation after one reminder then we received a phone call from the shop itself to confirm we were boarding in 10 minutes. Absolutely fantastic experience, highly recommend - crew is amazing, all stories, interesting facts, you can explore the ship- masterpiece, talk with Captain, I accomplished my childhood dream to climb a mast- mind blowing. It was great to see the sails up and to feel that experience of the tall ship sailing. The crew were great, we exchanged stories and nautical knowledge with "Jim Lad", the crew member who briefed us "sailors". I'd recommend this to anyone with an interest in the old sailing ships. Jim was a fantastic storyteller, great character and food with the crowd. He made our night an amazing memorable experience! He posed with me for a “1800’s ghost on the ship” photo with his attire lol. The bartender, cooks, and all of the staff were wonderful and very friendly. Enjoyed hearing the history of the ship. The wine and food was lovely, and climbing the mast to the crows nest was amazing! The sites were breathtaking, just loved being on the ocean. Read more Written 15 February 2024
