Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Pitbull Team for ‘Trilogy’ Tour
- By Kory Grow
Enrique Iglesias , Ricky Martin , and Pitbull are uniting this fall for a trek they’re calling the “Trilogy” tour. Each artist will play a headlining set on the North American run, which will find them in arenas.
While announcing the tour, each head of the triumvirate expressed mutual admiration of the other two. “It’s a true honor to tour with Enrique and Ricky, two music icons who broke global music barriers for our culture and open doors for someone like myself,” Pitbull said in a statement. “We’re excited to take the Trilogy tour around the world and give our fans the time of their Trilogy lives. Dale!”
“I am incredibly excited to be going on tour with my friends Pitbull and Ricky,” Iglesias said. “The Trilogy Tour will be an amazing experience for all of our fans. It’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime tour.”
The artists are each promising career-spanning sets of their greatest hits as well as “state-of-the-art visuals.”
Tickets will be available via Ticketmaster’s Verified Fans program. Fans can register now until 11:59 p.m. ET on June 4. Those who receive access codes can buy tickets beginning June 7. There will also be a general on sale at 10 a.m. local time on June 9.
Earlier this year, Martin presented Bad Bunny with GLAAD’s Vanguard Award , recognizing Bad Bunny’s allyship with the LGBTQ community. Martin, in a speech, commended Bad Bunny for “loudly standing with trans women and the entire community and telling every fan to let the LGBTQ people dance, sing, love, and live lives authentically.”

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.
Last year, Iglesias released Final Vol. 1 , which contained the track “Te Fuiste.” Iglesias told Rolling Stone it felt good to be reaching the finish line of his recording career. “I think it’s the right thing to do,” he said. “It doesn’t mean I’m going to stop writing songs, but maybe [I’ll do things] differently. I look at this like, an album’s a book and each song is a chapter. But at the same time, you can also say a song can be part of that, too. Hopefully I can put out more chapters later on — and I still have to finish Vol. 2!”
Pitbull has spent much of the past couple of years on the road, first touring with Iglesias on the “I Feel Good” tour in 2021 and then last year with Iggy Azalea and Sean Paul on the “Can’t Stop Us” tour. He’s planning on releasing a new album, Trackhouse , on July 7. The album is named after the Trackhouse brand, which merges NASCAR, sports, and entertainment, of which Pitbull is a partner.

The Trilogy Tour recently selected a complete JBL VTX A Series arena sound reinforcement solution provided by Sound Image / Clair Global to power headline performances by Ricky Martin , Enrique Iglesias , and Pitbull in arenas across North America.
In 2023, three iconic artists Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, and Pitbull teamed up for the North American Trilogy Tour , with three distinct headline performances each evening. The 2023 leg of the tour kicked off on October 14 in D.C. and included stops in New York, Miami, Houston, Las Vegas, and more and wrapped up December 16 in Vancouver. The 2024 leg kicks off on January 30 in Fresno and includes stops in Denver, Austin, Toronto, Nashville, Atlanta, and more before wrapping up on March 10 in Tampa.
In order to deliver arena-ready mixes with balanced coverage, detailed clarity and maximum impact, Enrique Iglesias's FOH mix engineer Brad Divens collaborated with Pitbull's FOH mix engineer Will Madera and Ricky Martin's FOH mix engineer Jorge Frontera to specify a complete JBL VTX tour sound reinforcement system.
"I was introduced to VTX on a previous tour with Brad and Enrique Iglesias, and for the last 6 or 7 years VTX has been on our rider," says Madera. "The first time I listened to it I fell in love with it. It translates my mix very well. I love the low end and the definition of the mids and highs. It has that pop rock sound that I like very much. It was a unanimous decision to go with JBL VTX on this tour, and it was definitely the right choice."
The Trilogy Tour 's JBL VTX sound system features a total of 96 VTX A12 with a main hang of 20 boxes per side and side hangs of 16 boxes per side, and auxiliary hangs of 14 speakers. To deliver a strong and controlled bass presence, the team specified 42 VTX B28 subwoofers, with 24 subs flown with the main array, and 16 subs on the ground in front of the stage. The crew also included 12 VTX A8 speakers stacked on top of the ground subs to deliver front fill coverage.
"The coverage and impact from that system is incredible," says Divens. "I like the punch, the clarity, I especially like the top end, it's so smooth and airy and very present. The vocal quality is great coming out of it. Everything seems to sit right where you expect it to be. It's right in your face but not aggressive. There's no downside to the VTX system. It goes up quickly, it's efficient, and powerful. The system is at 100% and it can do anything. I've mixed on every single possible rig. JBL VTX is the rig I choose. I'd put it up against any other rig."
Both Madera and Divens praised the quality of work by Bill Chase, the tour's systems engineer, and expressed that they had total faith in the JBL VTX sound system's ability to translate their mixes consistently night in night out in different arenas on tour.
"Bill Chase is our system tech, and he's really good at making it sound the exact same every day in every different room -- which is the hardest thing to do," says Madera. "The JBL system performed consistently on this tour, which makes our jobs easier. It's been one of my best experiences touring yet, no complaints whatsoever. It's great to be able to hang out with incredible engineers like Jorgito and Brad. I look up to their mixes, they're incredible at what they do. It was a great learning experience."
"This crew we have is exceptional," says Divens. "That's really made it painless when it comes to the audio portion. To have consistency night after night from the audio department is the biggest thing I can ask for as a mixer. There's not one night on this tour when I felt that something wasn't right-it's been perfect. Every arena is different, but you put 15,000 screaming fans in there, and it all comes together. The shows have been going great, and that's partly because of what the PA delivers, and the crew that sets it up."

At Tampa concert, Madonna reminds us why she’s the queen
- Maggie Duffy Times staff
TAMPA — She kept us waiting for hours in Amalie Arena.
But once Madonna took the stage a full two hours past the scheduled start of the 8:30 p.m. show, that didn’t matter. For the next two hours, the Queen of Pop showed us why she owns the title, and the multi-generational crowd gave back just as much energy.
DJ Mary Mac 5 Star set the vibe with a lively set. Then Bob the Drag Queen, dressed up like Marie Antoinette, got the crowd even more hyped as he introduced Madonna.
The singer’s Celebration Tour includes hits from the past four decades — the entirety of Madonna’s career — and features a troupe of dancers surrounding Madonna and working the stage, which had a long runway and elements suspended from the ceiling. Screens flashed video montages of photographs, artwork, scenes of New York City.
The tour was postponed last summer after Madonna suffered a severe bacterial infection that led to her being in a medically-induced coma for 48 hours . It’s pretty impressive that she’s bounced back relatively quickly.
After performing “Nothing Else Matters” — a song about how having children changed her life — alone on the stage, she was joined by dancers dressed as early 1980s punks for “Everybody” and “Into the Groove.”
Next, Madge grabbed an electric guitar and took us back to the iconic New York City punk club CBGB, where she first performed “Burning Up.”
Then she addressed the audience, saying that the show was the story of her life and she wanted us to “feel all the feels.”
“And really, Tampa, I’m only here every 40 years, so you should appreciate it,” she said, referring to the fact that she’s only performed here once before, in 1985.
She was accompanied by a person wearing a blank face mask throughout the show, who represented a younger version of herself that has stuck with her through the years. She gave herself a hug and reminded us to not forget where we came from.
“This isn’t a pop show, it’s more of a retrospective,” she said. “It’s performance art.”
Indeed. During “Open Your Heart,” there were nods to the memorable music video featuring a peepshow, and “Holiday” took us to a New York City nightclub, where the party reached a dizzying height, then took a heartbreaking turn as dancers started to fall to the ground. The refrain “Holiday” repeated as a haunting echo.
This led to a segment honoring those who were lost to AIDS, accompanied by a montage of their photographs while she performed “Live to Tell.” It began with a photo of former Tampa Bay resident Martin Burgoyne .

The segment culminated with an emotional “Like a Prayer,” with dancers’ bodies morphing into poses of Jesus Christ during crucifixion and other feats of physicality. There was a nod to Prince — who had played guitar on the original track — with a guitarist wearing a purple-patterned suit and a sample of the spoken intro of “Let’s Go Crazy.”
Madonna has always been a strong and vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, and this concert was a big kiss to it. Ballroom culture was celebrated in a joyful segment during “Vogue,” which featured her daughter Estere as the DJ. Dancers walked the runway
to be judged by Madonna and guest Monét X Change.
It wouldn’t be Madonna if there wasn’t a steamy sexual element, and that came with sensual choreography on “Erotica,” “Justify My Love” and “Hung Up,” then turned almost remorseful with “Bad Girl,” on which her daughter Mercy played the piano.
Things took a tender turn with “Mother and Father,” which she dedicated to her mother, who died when she was very young. A photo of her was on a screen, as was the photo of her adopted son David’s mother, who died in childbirth. David also accompanied on guitar.
Among her many costume changes, Madonna went Western chic and played “Express Yourself” on her guitar, which she slung over her back for “La Isla Bonita.” She donned a silver bodysuit and long pink wig as she flew over the stage in a square for “Ray of Light.”
A dedication to Michael Jackson came with a “Billie Jean” / “Like a Virgin” mashup, with dancers dressed like the duo silhouetted on a screen.
Madonna has dealt with the pressures of celebrity’s obsession with youth, which is alluded to with sound bites of her saying “To age is a sin” and “The most controversial thing I’ve ever done is to stick around.” People may expect her, at age 65, to act or dress a certain way. But instead, she reminds us what a trailblazer she is during “B---- I’m Madonna,” with dancers dressed in her most iconic looks through the years.
Whatever you do, don’t expect Madonna to stop.
