Tahiti & South Pacific Islands

The South Pacific offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, with azure waters, majestic peaks and lush valleys. Cruises to this area of the South Pacific -- located halfway between California and Australia -- visit the Society Islands and its popular island of Tahiti, the Cook Islands, Marquesas Islands, Tuamotu, Fiji, Solomon Islands and more.

Many tourists are attracted to these islands’ carefree lifestyle, white sandy beaches and unspoiled terrain. Spend time exploring a lagoon on a glass-bottom boat ride, hike into the mountains for stunning views of the varied landscape or shop for Tahitian black pearls, one of the world's rarest pearls. Water activities abound with opportunities to scuba dive, snorkel, jet ski, parasail and windsurf off the coast of many islands.

 • Cruises to Tahiti & South Pacific islands are available year-round.
 • Most cruises to Tahiti & South Pacific islands last from 7 to 14 nights.
 • Papeete is the most common departure port for a Tahiti cruise, but longer cruises that visit more islands are occasionally available from larger cities such as Vancouver, Los Angeles, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale or Sydney. If you must fly a very long distance to reach your port of departure, we suggest that you arrive at the port city at least one or two days in advance of your cruise. This will give you time to rest and get oriented before boarding the ship. Most cruise lines offer pre-cruise hotel packages.

DH and I are looking at booking the South Pacific cruise, Nov 2024. We've never cruised Princess and just wanted to ask if anyone has done this trip, and how well did they like it? Also, how does Princess do the daily add on fees room stewards for such a long trip - didn't know if there was a prepay option or package or what.

Thanks in advance for your info!

Which cruise, departing from where ?

Holiday Sharing

flying boat

We did this trip in 2022 and loved it even though we had some missed ports due to Covid restrictions at the time. There are lots of sea days, which we enjoyed but that different for everyone.

Princess does have packages available that include tips, WiFi and drinks. If you don’t want a package you can prepay tips on the website or they are address to your account daily onboard. You can view the packages on the website and they can be pre-purchased or purchased the first day or two of the cruise.

OK, great...thank you! We love sea days as well. Good for reading, and relaxing.

Thanks, that explains why I couldn't initially find it.

A nice mix of ports.

Do make sure you are out and about for the sailaways at Dravuni & Raiatea.

Especially Raiatea if the departure is past Taha'a and through the reef passage.

Pago Pago, Raiatea, Moorea & Papeete require a tour to make the most of the day.

Same with Apia, however if you want an easy day getting a taxi to Robert Luis Stevenson house is easy.

There should be local money changers set up at the dock in Suva & Apia.

One other snippet.

Although the distance between Pago Pago and Apia is only 125 km, they are on opposite sides on the dateline.

If you are booking private tours make sure you get the correct day.

Princess Cruises Announces 2025-26 South America and Antarctica Season

 • May 6, 2024

Sapphire Princess

Princess Cruises announced its 2025-26 South America and Antarctica season, exploring 20 destinations in 11 countries, according to a company statement.

“Our upcoming 2025-26 cruise season to South America and Antarctica promises remarkable journeys with incredible opportunities to glide through glacial waters of Antarctica to enjoy views of Elephant Island, Antarctic Sound and Gerlache Strait – all unforgettable sites to behold,” said Terry Thornton, chief commercial officer, Princess Cruises. “Plus our thoughtfully planned itineraries offer guests more time in robust South American cities to fully immerse themselves in the culture to get a taste of how the locals live.”

Princess Cruises’ 2025-26 South America and Antarctica season features a total of seven departures and five unique itineraries sailing from November 2025 to January 2026.

Highlights of the 2025-25 South America and Antarctica season:

 • The 17-day Antarctica Adventure cruises feature four days of exploration in the Antarctic region and a special festive voyage to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Day at sea, complete with an overnight stay in Buenos Aires.
 • A 16-day Cape Horn and Strait of Magellan with an overnight in Buenos Aires and scenic cruising past the Amalia Glacier.
 • The 53-day Ultimate Antarctica and South America Adventure, connecting Los Angeles and Buenos Aires, with overnight stays in Lima (Callao) and Buenos Aires.

In addition, for travelers who want to add a land tour to visit landmarks before or after their cruise, Princess offers two options:

 • Iguazú Falls Adventure – features the Iguazú Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as a visit to Rio de Janeiro.
 • Machu Picchu Explorer – visits the ancient Inca compound, Machu Picchu, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, plus a tour of the historic city of Cusco.

 • Princess Cruises announced a 114-day world cruise to 52 destinations in 2026, starting at $20,000 per person.
 • Guests who book early would get a free, all-inclusive package, a first for Princess' global itineraries.
 • Extended and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the vacation industry.

Princess Cruise's new around-the-world voyage will hit two vacation trends in one itinerary.

In January 2026, the company says its Coral Princess will embark on a 114-day cruise to 52 ports in 28 countries and six continents — more destinations than any of its previous global sailings .

It's the Carnival Corp brand's latest appeal to the extended cruising trend . But it's not the only fad this four-month vacation is targeting.

The sailing, which starts at $20,000 per person, also marks the first time Princess is offering a complimentary all-inclusive package as a way to entice early bookings.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has unveiled its newest 154-night 2026 world cruise, its longest sailing yet.

Ultra-long and all-inclusive cruises have emerged as big trends in the industry.

Regent Seven Seas, Azamara, and Oceania's 2024 around-the-world cruises all sold out before departing in January. The former was fully booked within three hours, while every cabin on the latter was called for in 30 minutes.

Besides being high-end, these three companies share one commonality: some level of all-inclusiveness , as is common with premium cruise lines.

Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian are generally beloved for their affordability.

But if you want to experience all their ships have to offer, be prepared to face a list of up-charged amenities like pay-to-play rides and specialty restaurants. After all, there's a reason their base fares are much cheaper than their increasingly popular ultra-luxury, all-inclusive counterparts.

Mass-market cruise companies rarely go the all-inclusive route.

Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian are generally beloved for their affordability.

But if you want to experience all their ships have to offer, be prepared to face a list of up-charged amenities like pay-to-play rides and specialty restaurants . After all, there's a reason their base fares are much cheaper than their increasingly popular ultra-luxury, all-inclusive counterparts.

The cruise line says guests who book its 2026 world cruise early (that is, by the end of October) will receive its most inclusive Princess Premier package for free. The perk — launched two years ago — covers amenities that typically have a fee, like WiFi, premium drinks, some specialty restaurants, and workout classes.

Travelers who reserve one of the ship's high-end cabins by the same deadline would also receive complimentary airport transfers and airfare, services normally exclusively offered by luxury cruise lines.

But Princess has been increasingly vying for a slice of the luxury cruiser pie.

Travelers who reserve one of the ship's high-end cabins by the same deadline would also receive complimentary airport transfers and airfare, services normally exclusively offered by luxury cruise lines .

From there, the 2,000-guest Coral Princess would sail more than 35,000 nautical miles to ports in North America, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia, Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, and Central and South America.

It wouldn't be Princess' longest voyage — that title goes to its 116-day world cruise in 2025 — but it would be one of its most destination-heavy.

While two days longer, next year's around-the-world cruise would hit six fewer ports and four fewer countries than its 2026 counterpart.

The itinerary would have two roundtrip embarkation options: Fort. Lauderdale, Florida, on January 5, 2026, or Los Angeles 16 days later.

That's a lot of time on the water with no land in sight. Luckily, travelers can keep themselves entertained by attending lectures and programs related to the destinations, leisuring around the adult-only lounge, or taking a dip in Coral Princess' four pools.

The 21-year-old ship also has 10 places to grab a bite, although the Italian and steakhouse restaurants are considered specialty. Premier is the cruise line's most inclusive package, but it only includes 16 free dinners at these upcharge restaurants, paced once a week.

Princess is still a mass-market cruise line, after all.

According to the itinerary, about half of the 2026 voyage consists of sea days.

The company says its two-month-old Sun Princess will debut in the US in October with its first-ever Sanctuary Collection. Travelers who splurge on these expensive and luxurious accommodations would be rewarded with two major benefits: a private lounge and Princess Premier.

The company has been increasingly dangling its inclusive package as a big perk.

The company says its two-month-old Sun Princess will debut in the US in October with its first-ever Sanctuary Collection . Travelers who splurge on these expensive and luxurious accommodations would be rewarded with two major benefits: a private lounge and Princess Premier.
