Samsung reveals its theme and Galaxy Team for 2024 Paris Olympic

Samsung today revealed its official theme for the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, ‘Open always wins.’  It will serve as the heart of Samsung’s Paris 2024 program, at the same time, Samsung also announced remarkable athlete ambassadors of Team Galaxy.

Team Samsung Galaxy will serve as the primary voices for ‘Open always wins,’ and by sharing their journeys. Each athlete on Team Samsung Galaxy, which includes British skateboarding star and longstanding brand ambassador Sky Brown, knows firsthand that an open mindset drives you to victory.

For Paris 2024, Team Samsung Galaxy is made up of over 25 Olympians and Paralympians. The team includes:

Hello! Samsung Fans. Samsung is improving user experience by regularly updating its One UI devices and applications. This article provides the latest information regarding the rollout of the April updates during the second week of the month. This update is not limited to any specific category as it includes mid-range models, high-end flagships, and budget-friendly smartphones.

Despite expectations, the recent April 2024 update does not bring the One UI 6.1 features to the Galaxy S22 series, nor to the Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 devices. However, it is expected that the major update for these devices will be released early next month.

April 2024 security Patch

April 2024 security patch details include patches from both Google and Samsung to address vulnerabilities and bugs affecting Android systems and Samsung devices. Google patches 1 critical and 26 high-level of CVEs for the Android operating system.

Additionally, Samsung has also addressed 17 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items to enhance security. It fixes issues related to Storage Manager Service, Out of bounds write, and more.

Samsung officially launched the 2024 Crystal 4K TV lineup in India. The lineup, consisting of Crystal 4K Vivid, Crystal 4K Vision Pro & Crystal 4K Vivid Pro TV series, comes at a starting price of INR 32990.

The 2024 Crystal 4K TV line-up brings 4K Upscaling, SolarCell Remote, Multi Voice Assistant, Q-Symphony and Crystal Processor 4K. The company has also announced up to 18 months of No-cost EMI apart from cashback offers.

Samsung announced 2024 Crystal 4K Vivid, Crystal 4K Vision Pro & Crystal 4K Vivid Pro TV series will be available on online platforms and Samsung.com in 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch screen sizes.

Samsung is considering a Chinese firm for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 & Z Fold 6 hinge. Until last year, KH Vatech supplied hinges for Samsung foldables in the highest volume. However, it will be changed as China-based hinge firm, Hwanli, will secure a double-digit market share this year.

Hwanli’s market share will increase to double digits this year among all Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 hinge suppliers. Apart from Hwanli and KH Vatech, S-Connect, and Hwanri are also part of Samsung’s hinge supply chain TheElec reports.

KH Vatech virtually exclusively supplied hinges to Samsung’s 5th generation foldable phone last year. The proportion of Chinese currency in the Galaxy Z Flip 6 hinge market is expected to increase to double digits this year. – TheElec highlights.

In particular, China’s Hwanli could get orders for hinges to be used in the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The company’s clamshell foldable phone accounts for about 70% of the total sales. Hence, the firm is going to benefit significantly from Samsung’s shift in supply chain partners.

This year, Samsung could launch a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6. While the new Ultra model is joining the lineup this year, it will be produced in limited quantities. The next Unpacked event will likely take place in the second week of July 2024.

For Paris 2024, the Samsung team is made up of over 25 Olympians and Paralympians — including British skateboarder Sky Brown, Spanish badminton champion Carolina Marin, French skateboarding hero Aurélien Giraud, American B-girl Grace “Sunny” Choi, German Para sprinter Johannes Floors, and South Korean football icon Son Heung-min — with more to be named. So I thought I would give a report on our experience.

Before we left the States, I downloaded the RATP app and purchased a carnet of tickets on both of our phones. (Can't use 2 tickets at once)

We've never utilized a subway system before, so our experience level was novice.

The RATP app made our travels a breeze. I did buy paper tickets on the RER for our travel to Versailles. I think you can't/ I couldn't figure out, how to use 2 different tickets on the app.

The only other thing of note, if you have (let's say 5) tickets left, it takes a few minutes after use, to reduce the number left.

If you have one of the newer Samsung models with an integrated RATP interface, all you need is the IDF Mobilité app, and a loaded fare: could be tickets t+ or one of the Navigo pass options. Your phone is your Navigo card. The phone does not need to be on to operate.

This functionality is available for other Android phones. You will need:

1. The IDF Mobilité app

2. NFC enabled on your phone

3. An appropriate fare loaded onto the app (ticket t+ or pass)

4. The phone must be illuminated as you approach the turnstile.

IPhones should have this capability sometime in either 2023 or 2024 (the RATP has published both dates).

Amsterdam and Paris

This is my second tour with Europamundo. The first was not all that great, but I was partially to blame so I decided to give them another shot. This tour includes stops at locations that are in line with what one would expect to see in the cities included. The transportation is decent and comfortable. Another family and I were asked if we would mind going on a different tour bus because of seating space. Once on the bus it was conducted entirely in Spanish and we had to remind the guide that there were English speakers on board. The city tours provide a lot of information and scenic memories. Make a note that it says on the last day the end of services is after breakfast. Actually, after the city tour in Paris the day before the end of the tour you will get dropped off by the L'ouvre under the premise of a "free day" and you are on your own to get back to your hotel. The accommodations are about a 7.5/10. In Amsterdam I was at the Radisson Blu. It was a nice full service hotel. Daily breakfast was good. Room was comfortable and clean. However, it is not located by anything but warehouse/industrial buildings. However, in Paris We stayed at the Residhome Aparthome in Nanterre. The location is great!!! Lots of restaurants and buzzing college town. However the accommodations were horrid. Specifically my room #209 had old peeling furniture and mildew on the roof and doorways. I took pics and will upload. The staff were French speaking only. Overall, the tour is good. Saw lots of sights and made lifetime memories. Europamundo needs to do a little more fine tuning to be sure the tours run a little more smoothly. I will say I would consider doing another tour with them. Considering the price the value matches what was paid.

Paris to Normandy WWII Remembrance & History Cruise (Southbound)

Cruise was great. The crew were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The tours were well planned, and even though there were a few technical problems, the staff worked very hard to make things go as smoothly as possible.

Very well organized. Very knowledgeable guide who went out of his way to make this a truly memorable experience. I especially liked his readings of "The Little Prince" on some of the longer bus rides. Be prepared to climb lots of stairs or sit out some of the more challenging sites. The hotels were all good to excellent and food was delicious.

2 Day Guided Trip to Mont Saint-Michel, Loire Valley Chateaux from Paris

What people love about Paris Tours

It was a really good experience. This is my second trip with Eskapas. The first one was a small group tour fully escorted in Italy and it was wonderful. This trip is independent and you are joining at the meeting point to daily group ours. If you have send of orientation, it may be difficult so I recommend yo to take a taxi to reach out to the meeting points. Usually it costs 15-20Euro. The company upgraded our hotel to New Hotel Le Voltaire 4* ,, located in 11th Arrondissement, close to Bastille. It is a correct one, decent breakfast. Don't miss Cimetiere du Pere-Lachaise which is close proximity.

Everything about this tour was excellent. The planned trips, the optional trips, the airport transfers, the guides were all top notch. We packed a lot into a week yet, had enough free time. Everything was well planned and kept to schedule. Bruno, our tour guide was charming and informative and kept us on track. Marco our coach drive was a safe and skilled driver. The specialist guides for certain excursions were topnotch. Bruno coordinated all the guides, driver, and venue hosts with efficiency. It was a trip of my dreams for my granddaughter and myself!

This was an amazing 3 day tour. Every day just got better and it was the right amount of sightseeing each day. The Chateaux’s were definitely my favourite part of the trip plus of course Mont-Saint-Michel! Leila our guide scores an 11/10. She was really what made the trip so special. Her diligence in keeping us to a fairly strict timetable was worth it so we didn’t miss our scheduled sightseeing. Truly a great trip to see the the Normandy beaches and explore some spectacular sights of France’s history. I couldn’t finish the review without a shout out to our driver “Brian”. It was the cherry on the top to an unforgettable experience ?

Every outfit Zendaya has worn to promote 'Challengers,' ranked

Zendaya is almost as well-known for her fashion as her acting career, standing out on red carpets and inking lucrative brand deals thanks to her style.

She's been a Bulgari ambassador since 2020, and she furthered her relationship with LVMH by becoming a house brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton in 2023. She kicked off that partnership with a promotional campaign for the brand's Capucines bag, which has since become a status symbol in the luxury fashion world. She's also repeatedly turned to Louis Vuitton for her latest promo tour.

Working with her longtime stylist, Law Roach , Zendaya has continued her tradition of wearing themed looks to promote her upcoming tennis drama " Challengers ," which will hit theaters on April 26.

Take a look at the outfits she's worn to promote the movie so far, ranked from least to most stylish.

The Elisabetta Franchi look consisted of a blue button-down and relaxed blue-and-white striped shorts, which Zendaya paired with Bulgari jewelry and white Christian Louboutin pumps.

Zendaya looked effortlessly chic in the ensemble, but it wasn't her most memorable look from the tour.

The star looked every bit the tennis player when she attended the BNP Paribas Open.

Zendaya wore a cream jacket and a pleated, white skirt from Louis Vuitton to watch the BNP Paribas Open alongside Tom Holland .

The collar of the zip-up jacket flared over the star's shoulders, and she wore it open with a white top under it.

White sneakers completed the outfit, which looked like a stylish take on a tennis uniform and helped to set the tone for her promo looks.

Zendaya wore a green set to a photo-call in Paris that subtly nodded to the sport.

Roach found this vintage Louis Vuitton set Marc Jacobs designed for the brand in 1999 through Moji Farhat Vintage .

Zendaya wore the high-neck jacket mostly unbuttoned, showing her stomach. The high-waisted pants had a relaxed fit and showed off the Louis Vuitton sandals she paired with them.

The yellow-green hue of the outfit made it feel cohesive with her other "Challengers" promo looks.

Zendaya's white gown for the Paris premiere of "Challengers" featured a statement belt.

Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière custom-designed the white gown Zendaya wore to the Paris premiere of "Challengers."

The strapless dress had a sweetheart neckline and a corset bodice that fell into a dropped waist, accented by a crisscross belt. The tulle skirt had a tiered hem that flowed into a train.

She accented the look with Bulgari jewelry. The outfit was stunning, but Zendaya had more fun with some of the other looks she wore on the tour.

Zendaya combined high fashion with athleticism in a Lacoste look at a photo-call in Australia.

Zendaya's custom Lacoste outfit consisted of a high-neck white top and coordinating high-waisted briefs. A netted, floor-length skirt with a thigh-high slit covered in sparkles sat atop the briefs, giving it a high-fashion feel.

The athletic look of the set and the netting on the skirt made the outfit feel both sporty and stylish.

Zendaya paired the outfit with pointed-toe, white shoes from Louboutin and Bulgari jewelry.

She wore a striped set with a hidden ruffle for a photo-call in London.

Vivienne Westwood designed the coordinating vest and miniskirt Zendaya wore to a London photo-call, which she paired with white pumps.

Both the vest and skirt featured multicolored, vertical stripes. It's easy to picture someone wearing the set to a tennis match, thanks to its clean lines and pastel color scheme. But Zendaya elevated the look by only buttoning it in the center, and the chic ensemble had a touch of whimsy thanks to feathers at the back of the skirt that almost looked like a mini tail.

Her checked coatdress felt like the perfect combination of on-theme and high fashion.

Roach tapped into Louis Vuitton's archives again for Zendaya's look for a photo-call in Paris amid the "Challengers" promo tour, choosing a coatdress from 2013 designed by Marc Jacobs.

The minidress had a green-and-white checked pattern and green buttons, invoking the colors of a tennis ball.

Zendaya wore the dress buttoned to the collar, giving it an elegant feel that she accented with a white headband, white pumps, and Bulgari jewelry.

Zendaya turned a blazer into a red-carpet look for the Rome premiere of "Challengers."

Roach styled Zendaya in a custom Calvin Klein two-piece for the Rome premiere, again choosing an all-white look in a nod to tennis attire.

Her look consisted of a high-waisted skirt with a bold slit and a long blazer, which she wore open with no shirt. Zendaya again wore Bulgari jewelry, including a statement necklace, and white Christian Louboutin pumps.

The look was sexy, professional, and glamorous all at once.

The sparkly dress Zendaya wore to a Rome photo-call was cute in and of itself, but the shoes she paired with it elevated the outfit.

To kick off the Rome leg of the "Challengers" promo tour, Zendaya rocked custom Loewe from head to toe at a photo-call.

Her sparkly minidress put a high-fashion spin on a tennis uniform silhouette, as the silver piece featured a pleated skirt and a plunging neckline. Black fabric lined the waistline and neckline, adding to the athletic feel.

She wore Bulgari jewelry with the dress, but the highlight of her outfit was her white Loewe pumps with miniature tennis balls on the high heels.

Loewe's creative director, Jonathan Anderson, also served as the costume designer for "Challengers," making the outfit even more fitting.

The Loewe dress Zendaya wore to the film's Australia premiere was the perfect way to kick off her tour.

For her first red-carpet look of the promo tour, Zendaya wore another custom Loewe look.

The dress, which had a low neckline and a thigh-high slit, took direct inspiration from "Challengers." The silhouette of a tennis player in motion was printed on the sparkly green dress on one side, with a tennis ball floating on the bodice. It was playful and chic, setting the tone for the other outfits Zendaya wore on the tour.

Coordinating, sparkly shoes and Bulgari jewelry tied the outfit together.

Zendaya's custom Thom Browne dress for the "Challengers" UK premiere is her most stylish look from the tour to date.

Thom Browne custom-designed the white dress Zendaya wore to the UK premiere of "Challengers," which was covered in tennis racket appliques and had red and black stripes on the hemline.

The rackets were the highlight of the gown, but the entire look skillfully celebrated her film while remaining fashion-forward. The dress had a halter neckline with a collar, as well as buttons lining the top of the form-fitting bodice. A belt with a bow clasp sat low on her waist, giving way to a pleated skirt with netting embroidered between the pleats, again nodding to tennis.

Bulgari jewelry and an oversized hair bow sitting atop a long braid in her hair completed Zendaya's look.

Local Strolls: Follow our writer's perfect walking route in Paris

Delve into Local Strolls, a series where writers reveal their favorite walks in their hometowns. Each route offers a snapshot of urban life, guiding you to lesser-known attractions and cherished local spots. Here, Vivian Song takes us on a gentle stroll past shops, through gardens and along the river in Paris.

In some ways, one of my favorite walking itineraries in Paris contradicts the very definition of that most famous and poetic of French verbs, “flâner” or to stroll. Some purists might point out that my oft-repeated route has a predetermined start and finish line, while the point of "flâner” -ing is to wander aimlessly, not knowing where their walk will lead them.

But I would argue that switching to autopilot and repeating a familiar and comforting walking routine can also produce moments of awe, pleasure and discovery if done in the same spirit of the aimless wander: without haste, with no agenda, and always with a sweet treat.

On that last point, this particular itinerary actually starts at Mochi Mochi Aki, a small Japanese take-out dessert shop on rue Saint-Anne that is lined with Japanese and Korean restaurants and grocers. I order my usual, passion fruit mochi, and resist the urge to bite into the ridiculously soft and pillowy sweet rice cake until I get to my next destination, the Jardin du Palais Royal , five minutes away. If I’m feeling particularly indulgent, I may also stop at Matcha Social Club to pick up an iced strawberry matcha latte for the walk over.

At the park, I will amble leisurely up and down the tree-lined alleyways, chuckling inwardly at the waddling toddlers chasing after dogs, and dogs chasing after pigeons, and take dozens of photos of the gardens because I am rarely without my DSLR camera on a leisurely outing like this one.

After a good long sit-down under the shade that involves one of the best mochis in Paris, a bit of reading, and a lot of people-watching, I’ll make my way out of the park in the direction of the Louvre and the Seine in order to indulge in another one of my Paris pastimes: the crossing of bridges. I cross as many as I can on this route, zigzagging between the Left and Right Banks as views from either side of the river offer such beautifully different perspectives.

After crossing Pont du Carrousel, I head south on the Left Bank and then cross Pont des Arts, the pedestrian bridge where buskers provide passersby with some lively entertainment. I continue along the upper quay in order to greet the open-air booksellers or bouquinistes and check out their latest wares.

That brings me to the majestic Pont Neuf , which means "new bridge" but is actually the oldest standing bridge in Paris, where I join the other tourists in taking in the views of the Seine, Eiffel Tower , and the pedestrians strolling on the quay below. Even after 14 years of living in Paris, I never tire of views like this. I cross this bridge too, but stop short of reaching the Left Bank and veer midway into Île de la Cité’s Place Dauphine, a lovely triangle-shaped public square, where groups of friends are playing petanque, young couples are on weekend dates, and parents are following waddling toddlers, who are chasing delightedly after small dogs their own size.

After staying on the upper quays, I’m now ready to embark on the last stretch of my itinerary. I cross the Pont au Change and take the stairs that lead down to the lower quay on Voie Georges Pompidou. Formerly a major traffic artery, the riverside banks on both sides of the Seine became car-free in 2017, giving Parisians nearly 8km (5 miles) of wide and scenic waterfront promenades lined with petanque courts, terraces and children’s play areas.

The strolling experience is different down here. Those on wheels — bikers, skateboarders, e-scooters and rollers skaters (yes, of the disco-kind) — weave their way between pedestrians, who have collectively, it seems, agreed to walk with slackened pace to match the gentle cadence of the Seine rolling beside us to our right. As I reach Pont Marie, at which point I can take the metro line 7 straight home, I take one last look at the scenery before me and am reminded of the words of Victor Hugo: “To wander is human, to stroll is Parisian.”

Samsung aims to celebrate the dynamic communities and athletes behind surfing, skateboarding, and breaking, in the lead-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics and beyond.

The South Korean electronics giant, Samsung has announced a collaborative effort with the World Surf League (WSL), Street League Skateboarding (SLS), and Pro Breaking Tour (PBT).

This partnership aims to celebrate the dynamic communities and athletes behind surfing, skateboarding, and breaking, in the lead-up to the Paris Olympics 2024 and beyond.

Samsung’s commitment aligns with its theme for the upcoming Olympic Games,  “Open Always Wins” . This philosophy emphasizes the transformative power of open-mindedness, where new experiences lead to personal growth and endless possibilities. The three chosen sports, each built on a foundation of shared values and respect, embody this spirit perfectly. Samsung is dedicated to supporting these passionate and close-knit communities.
