And while booking an all-inclusive property may seem like a big investment up front, they can end up saving you money overall when you factor in the lack of food, beverage, and activity costs.

Fortunately, there are affordable all-inclusives all across Mexico that won't break the bank. Whether you're looking for a Riviera Maya beachfront party, a secluded jungle retreat, or a cool view in Cabo, there's an all-inclusive resort for you. Where should I stay in Mexico?

The majority of Mexico's all-inclusive resorts are set along its two coasts. Some of the most popular east coast destinations include Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel, all of which are known for beautiful beaches, lively nightlife, and proximity to cenotes and Mayan Ruins. On the west coast, there's Cabo San Lucas, famous for its rocky coasts, and Puerto Vallarta, an LGBTQ+ hotspot known for beaches and jungles.

What is the cheapest time to go to Mexico?

The cheapest time to go to Mexico is in May through June or September through November, the two shoulder seasons for most of Mexico’s destinations. Beware spring break, when prices skyrocket.

Is it worth it to pay for all-inclusives?

All-inclusives can be worth the price if you plan on spending the majority of your time at the resort. Because you're already paying for all meals, you should dine on-property the majority of the time. Many on-resort activities are also included in the rates, so you’ll get more bang for your buck if you take advantage of them. The best part about an all-inclusive resort is the convenience—you don't have to think about budgeting or splitting bills with your party, and that alone may be worth the price.

Under $300:

Hotel nyx cancun.

The vibe:  Boutiquey all-inclusive Top amenities:  Infinity pool, gym, Balinese-style beach loungers What's included:  Meals and beverages at restaurants, Wi-Fi Price tag: $

At just 196 rooms, Hotel NYX Cancun is more on the more boutique side of the scale when it comes to all-inclusive resorts. As such, it feels delightfully uncrowded, despite being located right in the middle of Cancun's Hotel Zone. There are two pools, two restaurants, and a lobby bar, as well as a lovely stretch of beach lined with Balinese-style loungers. There's no formal spa, but you can get massages in private treatment rooms or on the beach for an additional fee.

The Explorean Kohunlich Chetumal

The Explorean Kohunlich, Chetumal

The vibe: Secluded jungle retreat Top amenities: Infinity pool, spa with Mayan-inspired treatments What's included: Meals, beverages, excursions, activities  Price tag: $$

If the beach isn't your thing—or if traditional all-inclusives aren't your thing—this is the hotel for you. It's a 40-room property located about an hour inland from the laid-back city of Chetumal on the border of Mexico and Belize, so there's no beach to be found. Instead, you're surrounded by lush jungle, singing birds, and Mayan ruins. On the relaxation front, there's a small infinity pool overlooking the canopy, as well as a spa with Mayan-inspired treatments. And for meals, you'll be dining at an open-air palapa-style restaurant serving local cuisine. The hotel is happy to set you up with bike tours of the Mayan ruins, excursions into town, or even sailboat charters. But who's to blame you if you only want to hop in a hammock and take in the soothing sounds of nature at the hotel?

Viva Wyndham Maya, Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  High-energy Top amenities:  Spa, archery, water sports What's included:  Meals, beverages, room service, resort sports Price tag:  $$

With more than 600 rooms, this is a big resort, and it certainly has the big energy to match. There's always something going on here, whether that's a themed party, fitness classes, or live shows. And there are so many activities to enjoy, too—trapeze, archery, kayaking, windsurfing, rock climbing, among other resort sports, are all included in the rate. While this is a family-friendly resort, there are some great adult amenities, including the spa, a nightclub, and an adult-only pool with a bar.

pool with palm trees and umbrellas

Solmar Resort, Cabo San Lucas

The vibe:  Relaxed, no frills Top amenities:  Swim-up bar, poolside sushi bar What's included:  Meals and beverages Price tag:  $$

Cabo isn't known for being an affordable town, but the Solmar Resort bucks the trend as one of the most budget-friendly properties. That said, it's a short (yet walkable) distance away from the nightlife of Cabo, but that means plenty of peace and quiet on property. This is a family-friendly resort, though, so you can expect a little noise by the two pools, but the overall vibe is very relaxed. The one thing to note is that you can't swim in the ocean here—the sea is too rough. But the pool areas make up for that, as there's a poolside sushi bar and a swim-up bar here.

Dreams Acapulco Resort & Spa, Acapulco

The vibe:  Budget-friendly, high-value Top amenities:  Spa, seven restaurants What's included:  Meals, beverages, activities Price tag:  $

On Mexico's west coast is the busy resort town of Acapulco, where you'll find this budget-friendly resort. It is, admittedly, a little outdated, but it offers one of the best bangs for your buck when it comes to its all-inclusive packages. All seven of its dining venues are included in the rate, as are top-shelf liquors and 24-hour room service. And many activities at the resort are covered, too, including an introductory scuba diving lesson in one of the pools. The one thing you'll have to splurge on is spa treatments, but we think that's worth the extra cost.

Under $600:

Dreams Huatulco Resort amp Spa Tangolunda

Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa, Tangolunda

The vibe:  Classic all-inclusive Top amenities:  Spa, kid's club, resort sports What's included:  Meals, beverages, resort sports like archery and kayaking Price tag:  $$

The state of  Oaxaca may not be nearly as popular as some of the major resort destinations like Quintana Roo (where you'll find Cancún and Playa del Carmen), but that means the crowds are far fewer. But at Dreams Huatulco, you'll find all the classic amenities you've come to expect in an all-inclusive resort. There are three pools, five restaurants, six bars and lounges, and a spa. You'll find plenty of daily entertainment, from live shows to karaoke nights to movie nights. There are also many on-resort sports like archery, kayaking, and windsurfing, most of which are included in the rate.

Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort, Akumal

The vibe: Relaxed beach haven Top amenities:  Wellness center with yoga classes What's included:  Meals, beverages, Wi-Fi, one-hour daily snorkel rental, yoga classes Price tag:  $$

The 310-room Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort is set on a wide stretch of soft-sand beach, and that's this property's main draw. Included in the rate is a daily hour-long snorkel rental, which gives you the chance to spot sea turtles just offshore. Landside, guests can dine at one of six restaurants, including a sushi bar and a Peruvian restaurant, as well as a 24-hour snack bar and a lobby bar. The wellness offerings include a spa with a sauna and whirlpool (massage treatments cost extra), a gym, and free daily yoga classes. And there are four pools for those needing a break from the sea.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  Adults-only resort in the center of the city Top amenities: Spa, rooftop sushi bar What's included:  Meals at certain restaurants, beverages, beach towels, WiFi Price tag : $$

There's a little bit of everything at this mid-size all-inclusive resort, which is located a block off of the Fifth Avenue pedestrian mall in the center of Playa Del Carmen. Despite being in the heart of town, there is a small beach here (it sustained hurricane damage and erosion.) Other highlights include a rooftop sushi bar, a serene spa, and a large pool area. If you're looking for a vivacious time, don't miss the wild weekly foam party on Saturday nights—and really any show hosted around the pool. And if you're not, there's plenty of chill vibes to be found throughout the resort.

The Fives Beach Hotel amp Residences Playa del Carmen

The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences, Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  Contemporary, upbeat Top amenities: Beach club, spa, 15 bars and restaurants What's included : Meals, beverages, WiFi Price tag:  $$

The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences isn't exclusively an all-inclusive resort, but you can opt for meal plans that make it so. And it's a good idea, too. There are 15 restaurants and bars across the property, with cuisines ranging from Italian to Thai. There's even an exclusive gin bar if gin and tonics are your thing. The property also has a fairly lively pool and beach scene—there are five pools, each with their own bar, as well as a full beach club. When you're not dining or drinking, head for the 15,000-square-foot spa for some recovery. We recommend the hydrotherapy circuit.

Barceló Maya Caribe, Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  Never a dull moment Top amenities:  Spa, bowling alley, water park, escape room What's included:  Meals, beverages, some activities Price tag:  $$

You want it? Barceló Maya Caribe has it. The 1,000-plus-room resort has an extraordinary number of amenities: mini-golf, bowling alley, pickleball courts, tennis courts, non-motorized sports, theaters, nightclubs, a teen nightclub, a water park, a kids' club—you get the point. There are even two escape rooms (that do cost an additional point). With so much to do, you might find it hard to enjoy the beach, the three restaurants, the eight pools, or the 32,000-square-foot spa. One of the more unique features of the hotel is that some of its Premium Level rooms are swim-up—they open directly into pools.

Meliá Puerto Vallarta

Meliá Puerto Vallarta

Melia Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta

The vibe:  Family-friendly Top amenities: Rock-climbing wall, archery range, lagoon-style pool What's included:  Meals, beverages, some resort sports, WiFi Price tag:  $$

Programming at this well-landscaped Puerto Vallarta resort in Marina Vallarta is largely geared towards families. The kids' club is a major draw—they host plenty of events for kids and teens, from craft workshops to sports tournaments to pool activities—but programming extends to other parts of the resort, too, such as milk and cookies in your room. Adults and children alike can enjoy other resort amenities like the lagoon-style pool, tennis courts, a rock-climbing wall, and an archery range. For adults, there are plenty of wellness offerings, too, from the spa to yoga and stretching classes.

Mia Reef Isla Mujeres, Isla Mujeres

The vibe:  Private island Top amenities:  Spa, swim-up bar What's included:  Meals, beverages Price tag:  $$

This colorful all-inclusive resort is located on a private island off Isla Mujeres, itself just a 20 minute ferry ride from Cancún. Although it's not very hard to get to—it's connected by a footbridge to the main island and is just a few minutes from downtown—it does have a secluded feel. With fewer than 200 rooms, it's not an overly large resort, so it's a somewhat quiet atmosphere, but it is family-friendly and the small beach can get a little crowded. It gets even quieter at the small spa, which has just three treatment rooms, including a couples suite.

Iberostar Tucán

Iberostar Tucán

Iberostar Tucan, Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  Beachfront garden escape Top amenities:  Spa, archery range, kids' club What's included:  Meals, beverages, non-motorized water sports Price tag:  $$$

This five-star property is definitely on the upper side of affordable, but you can definitely find good deals for stays outside of peak travel periods like winter break. While it has a fine-sand beach that's definitely a draw for most guests, the property stands out for its lush gardens. You'll find much local flora throughout, and quite a bit of local fauna, such as monkeys, colorful birds, and even turtles. There are 16 restaurants and bars, including an ice cream shop, a cigar lounge, and a Texas-style smokehouse. Wellness is a big focus, between free aerobics and yoga classes for adults and the spa.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico, Playa del Carmen

The vibe: Artisan-driven, eco-minded Top amenities:  Spa, lagoon, 12 restaurants What's included:  Meals, beverages, entrance to Xcaret parks, airport shuttle Price tag:  $$$

This is a massive property with 900 rooms, but the layout of the resort is such that it doesn't feel crowded anywhere—they're spread across five distinct "casas" that are smaller in scale. There are 12 restaurants here, all of which are included in the rate, as well as a variety of pools and a spa that also offers yoga classes and meditation lessons. The best part about staying at any Xcaret property is that you get free entrance to Xcaret parks where you can see Mayan ruins, swim in cenotes, and go snorkeling. There's even an on-property lagoon for snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination, Playa Del Carmen

The vibe:  Jungle fun Top amenities:  Spa, lagoon, nightclub What's included:  Meals, beverages, entrance to Xcaret park Price tag:  $$

Right next to the eco-archeological park of Xcaret, this 25-acre resort is filled with wildlife, from monkeys to coatis to iguanas. It's also filled with guests—there are more than 700 rooms. But there's plenty of space to spread out across the 11 restaurants, 10 bars, five pools, fitness center, sports courts, beach club, and spa. It should be noted, though, that there's no ocean access here—the beach lines a lagoon. Guests at this resort get free entrance into the Xcaret park, where they can see Mayan cultural performances.

Paradisus Los Cabos

Paradisus Los Cabos

Paradisus Los Cabos, San Jose del Cabo

The vibe:  Luxury at a fair price Top amenities:  Swimmable beach, kids' club What's included:  Meals, beverages, fitness classes Price tag:  $$

Though Cabo is an oceanfront resort destination, it isn't known for its swimmable beaches, as the seas can get pretty rough. But Paradisus Los Cabos is located on the only swimmable beach in the region, which makes it a pretty attractive place to stay. Beyond that, it's an upscale property with seven restaurants, three pools (some of which have swim-up suites), and lots of evening entertainment, from themed parties to cultural shows.

Dreams Sapphire Resort & Spa, Puerto Morelos

The vibe:  A little bit of everything Top amenities: Spa, water park, three pools What's included:  Meals, beverages, room service, WiFi Price tag:  $$

Just 15 minutes from the airport, this hotel allows you to get right into the fun after hopping off your flight. As with all Dream properties, all restaurants—there are five of them—are included in the rate, along with top-shelf alcohol and 24-hour room service. You also have access to the facilities at the nearby Dreams Jade Resort & Spa. Entertainment includes live shows, themed parties, and a Temazcal healing ceremony, and activities include resort and non-motorized water sports like tennis, archery, and kayaking. When you need a breather from all the action, head for the spa.

The 11 best all-inclusive resorts in Los Cabos

Tanner Saunders

Located on the southern tip of Mexico's Baja peninsula, Los Cabos is the perfect spot to spend a fun few days in the sun surrounded by beautiful rock formations, rugged deserts, stunning ocean views and — during part of the year — humpback whales.

While Cabo is filled with luxury hotels like the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal and a very chic Nobu resort , one of the easiest ways to experience the area is actually at one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Los Cabos.

When it comes to Los Cabos all-inclusives, the property options are not one-size-fits-all. In fact, there are all-inclusive resorts in Los Cabos that are perfect for families and some that are geared toward adults. Not to mention, when it comes to price, you'll find a full spectrum of properties to choose from.

Here, we cover everything you need to know about booking an all-inclusive in Los Cabos, deciding the best time to visit and understanding the difference between Los Cabos, Cancun and other major destinations for this type of resort experience. If you need help figuring out how to get there, we even have a handy guide for getting to Los Cabos on points and miles .

What is the best month to go to Los Cabos?

Finding the right time to visit Los Cabos — which is a quick flight away from major airports in California, Arizona and Texas — can be tricky. Some of the best weather can be found in the cooler months when the desert heat isn't quite so intense, but December through March is also Los Cabos' peak season.

For a good mix of weather and elbow room, consider visiting from May to June. You can also find some good rates during these months as the winter crowds have receded.

Should you wish to visit Los Cabos in summer, know that you can still have a great time, though the heat can be extreme, especially in July and August.

Cancun vs. Cabo

If you're trying to decide whether to spend your vacation near the jungles of Cancun or the rocky vistas of Los Cabos, there are a few things to consider when understanding the difference between these two beautiful destinations.

The most important difference is that in Los Cabos, the majority of beaches are not safe for swimming due to undertows, rip currents and rough surf, so if you're hoping to splash around in the ocean, you might want to stick to Cancun. There are a handful of safer beaches in the area, but they're few and far between. That doesn't mean you can't still enjoy some stunning resort pools in Los Cabos, but at most resorts, that's the only water you'll find yourself in.

Related: The best all-inclusive resorts in Mexico

Another major difference is in the types of activities you might enjoy away from the resort. In Cabo San Lucas, travelers can head out on a boat to see the stunning El Arco rock formation at the tip of the Baja peninsula, go whale watching (from December through April), enjoy taking an all-terrain vehicle out in the desert or go deep-sea fishing for marlin.

In Cancun, travelers can (and should) take full advantage of the lush tropical forests in the area, visit ancient Mayan ruins like Yamil Lu'um or El Rey, go scuba diving or enjoy some of the water sports on the ocean that aren't typically available in Los Cabos.

Lastly, while both areas offer something for every type of traveler, Cabo is well known for its myriad luxury resorts while Cancun has many more resorts spanning the cost spectrum.

13 Best U.S. Resorts for Reconnecting With Nature — Hot Springs, Hiking Trails, and Open-air Massages Included

From Alaska to Maine, these U.S. nature resorts beautifully combine wilderness and wellness.

Stephanie Vermillion is a travel journalist and photographer covering culture and adventure for Travel + Leisure Outside, and more.

travel and leisure 16 best all inclusive

Few things reduce stress like quality time in the great outdoors, but getting into nature doesn't require far-flung treks or bare-bones camping. Nature resorts across the U.S. pair wilderness with a touch of pampering — think on-site hot springs after a day of desert exploration and open-air massages to recover from long hikes on the trails.

If the coast, desert, or mountains are calling, these splendid wilderness-focused resorts could be the answer. Each getaway offers exciting adventures, jaw-dropping scenery, wellness amenities, and the ultimate natural attraction: dark, starry skies. These are the 13 best nature resorts in the U.S.

Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa, New Mexico

Head to northern New Mexico's Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa for an immersive back-to-nature experience that includes a scenic hot-spring soak. This property, tucked between the otherworldly cliffs along the Ojo Caliente River, boasts one of the country's only thermal springs with four healing minerals: lithia, soda, arsenic, and iron. Guests can sleep in the property's adobe homes and wake to desert views. The splurge-worthy itineraries include movement classes in the yoga yurt, hiking or biking in the high-elevation desert, and unwinding beneath the canyons at the farm-to-table Artesian Restaurant.

The Green O, Montana

The adventure experts at Montana's renowned Resort at Paws Up took their nature-escape offerings up a notch with The Green O , a luxury-meets-adventure getaway tucked away on Paws Up's 37,000 woodland acres. The adults-only property offers serious nature-centered TLC, from the 12 forest-flanked "haus" accommodations with hygge-inspired fireplaces to the on-site trails, heart-pumping ATV tours, and scenic paddle excursions. The nightcap to any Green O adventure? Soaking beneath the stars in a private hot tub after a culinary safari at the Social Haus , the property's restaurant, bar, and communal gathering space.

Sheldon Chalet, Alaska

For a once-in-a-lifetime back-to-nature adventure, it's hard to top Alaska's far-flung Sheldon Chalet in Denali National Park. Let's start with the superlatives. The property is 10 miles from the soaring Denali summit. It's 50 miles from civilization and dwarfed by the colossal Don Sheldon Amphitheater peaks surrounding it. It also sits atop Ruth Glacier. With all of that, it's hardly surprising Sheldon Chalet prioritizes outdoor adventures like ice climbing, snow-cavern spelunking, and crevasse exploration. The post-excursion relaxation is almost as extreme, with five-star dining followed by arguably one of the best northern lights shows.

Amangiri, Utah

Amangiri treats its guests to some of the Colorado Plateau's most jaw-dropping desert vistas. The sleek, nature-inspired property blends seamlessly into a landscape studded with cacti and rock formations, from the canyon-view suites to the property's neighboring Camp Sarika tented pavilion. Amangiri delivers on the high-end Aman-brand promise, but here, luxury is tempered by the chance to get your hands dirty. Heart-pumping adventures include a via ferrata, expert-guided Colorado Plateau hikes, and outings to the region's beloved national parks: Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, and Zion. Once sunset hits, prepare to be wowed by the constellations and galaxies that feel within arm's reach.

Wild Rice Retreat, Wisconsin

Part artist's escape, part wellness resort, Wisconsin's new Wild Rice Retreat gives guests the perfect opportunity to unwind and recenter in the calming forests of northern Wisconsin. The retreat sits on the rocky shore of Lake Superior, where steady waves provide a soothing soundtrack for activities like yoga and meditation in the Peace Pod or detoxification in the sauna. Property trails invite travelers to get their blood pumping between meditation sessions, while farm-to-table outdoor dining leaves guests nourished and ready for more.

Twin Farms, Vermont

One of New England's best nature immersions awaits on Twin Farms ' 300 private acres in Vermont. Here, the Green Mountains provide a backdrop that's as calming as the property 's bucolic meadows. Twin Farms, roughly 90 minutes from Burlington, features 10 tree-canopied cottages, a private nine-acre pond, and numerous hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing trails to help guests work up an appetite for those locally sourced meals. For the ultimate back-to-nature experience, take Twin Farms up on its indulgent picnic-by-the-pond offering. Or, grab a boxed lunch and enjoy it during your bike ride. Just don't miss the elegant fireside dinners in the rustic-chic Main House dining room.

Post Ranch Inn, California

Perched atop the rugged cliffs of California's Central Coast with views across the Pacific Ocean, Post Ranch Inn provides more than a Big Sur base camp. The entire property is centered on immersing guests in the mountain-meets-ocean surroundings. The 40 opulent guest rooms and private homes feature sweeping sea-view windows and patios that make Big Sur the star of the show. Meanwhile, resort experiences like falconry, morning yoga, forest meditation, and guided nature walks further integrate guests into the environs. The scenic dinners, featuring ingredients from the chef's garden, are the cherry on top of this natural California retreat.

Baker's Cay Resort Key Largo, Curio Collection by Hilton, Florida

At Baker's Cay Resort in Key Largo, Florida, nature isn't just a nice-to-have feature; it's the property's raison d'être. This ocean-flanked escape and its panoramic balconies promise guests the kind of tranquility only teal waters can provide. Just as important: Baker's Cay offers travelers a chance to give back to the nature they're here to enjoy. The resort hosts monthly beach and underwater cleanups, and partners with 1000 Mermaids and Ocean Rescue Alliance for coral-restoration initiatives. Beyond that, guests can learn about the fragile Florida Keys ecosystems through eco-educator nature walks. This green ethos extends to the fare, too; Baker's Cay was the first U.S. resort to partner with Dock to Dish, an initiative that helps diners support small-scale and sustainable fishing communities.

Amara Resort and Spa, Arizona

Don't just visit Sedona's red rocks. Wake up to sun-splashed views of them from Amara Resort and Spa , a modern escape set along the calming Oak Creek Canyon, just two blocks from Sedona's bustling uptown. Amara's natural allures run the gamut: complimentary mountain bikes, hot-air balloon outings, and an infinity pool with a view of the red rocks, to name a few. The property's famed SaltRock Southwest Kitchen takes its cocktails seriously, serving agave-based beverages like craft margaritas that perfectly complement those crimson backdrops.

Terramor Outdoor Resort, Maine

Nature hits differently in Maine, and glamping getaway Terramor Outdoor Resort helps visitors make the most of it. The retreat , less than a 20-minute drive from Acadia National Park, delivers awe-striking wilderness with a touch of luxury across its 64 canvas tents. On-site activities include morning yoga, massages in the open-air wellness tent, and adventures like birding and kayaking. Terramor's raved-about evening experiences promise the perfect recipe for refueling: campfires, live music, beer tastings, and craft s'mores.

Lake Placid Lodge, New York

Get your nature fix and feel like royalty at Lake Placid Lodge , a posh mountain getaway in the heart of New York's Adirondacks. The lodge's digs are about as mesmerizing as the undulating scenery. Admire hand-hewn wood beams and stone fireplaces artfully crafted by local masons in one of 30 accommodations. But don't spend too much time indoors — the lodge's pristine waterfront setting provides the perfect jumping-off point for outdoor adventures. Try kayaking, boating, or fishing; after the latter, chefs will cook and prepare your fresh catch. For land-based fun, tackle the Adirondacks' trails by foot or bike. End the day with a candlelit meal in Lake Placid Lodge's upscale Artisans restaurant.

Camp V, Colorado

Western Colorado's Camp V is a choose-your-own-adventure nature escape. Enjoy the desert with cozy comforts in one of the property's hip cabins. If you prefer to get closer to nature, opt for glamping, camping, an Airstream stay, or a canyon-view Jupe , a pod-like shelter crafted by designers from Tesla and SpaceX. No matter the accommodations, expect outrageous desert fun. Head to Camp V's on-site pond for sunrise stand-up paddleboarding. Then, hit one of the hiking or biking trails right from your cabin or tent door.

Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, Michigan

There's an aura of ease that welcomes travelers the second they cross the bridge from Lower Michigan into the Upper Peninsula — and that serenity gets kicked up a notch for those who journey all the way to the Keweenaw. The Lake Superior-flanked Keweenaw Peninsula is about as wild as the Midwest gets, and one of Michigan's northernmost resorts, the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge , immerses guests in this unspoiled beauty. Adventure is woven into Keweenaw Mountain Lodge's DNA. This property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has its own web of mountain biking and hiking trails. In 2022, the area around the lodge became the first International Dark Sky Park in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, making it one of the best places to catch auroras in the lower 48 states.

Canyon Ranch Lenox

According to Fora travel advisor Tiffany Kulkarni , Canyon Ranch Lenox serves as a tranquil oasis for those seeking R&R thanks to its "comprehensive approach to wellness, [which] includes everything from fitness classes to nutrition consultations." This all-inclusive wellness resort, a 2023 World's Best Award Winner , is nestled in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, where natural beauty abounds. Sun-drenched rooms and suites and glass-enclosed walking paths help bring the outdoors in. Property highlights include an on-site health and performance center, a 100,000-square-foot spa and fitness complex, indoor and outdoor pools, and three restaurants, including a demo kitchen.

Miraval Arizona

"My stay at Miraval Arizona was truly the most relaxed I have ever felt," says Fora travel advisor Nadia Bass . She continues, telling Travel + Leisure , "The staff at this property are exemplary; all of the guest services staff are friendly and helpful, and the practitioners are all experts in their field." This adults-only all-inclusive resort also offers dozens of incredible activities plus a desert-inspired spa with facilities — including a serenity pool, hot tub, saunas, steam room, and relaxation lounge — that are free to all guests. That said, it's certainly worth splurging on one of the regionally inspired treatments such as the prickly pear sugar scrub. Best of all, says Bass, "All meals, snacks, coffee, smoothies, and non-alcoholic beverages are included, and, let me tell you, the food is spectacular!"

Amangiri , which translates to "peaceful mountain" in Sanskrit, is best described by Fora travel advisor Elizabeth Kaczka as "a modern desert marvel, seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape." This 2023 World's Best Award-winning resort has attracted seclusion-seeking A-listers such as Kim Kardashian and Brad Pitt. Accommodations take the form of spectacular suites and pavilions, complete with white stone floors, concrete walls, Instagram-worthy desert views, fireplace-equipped outdoor lounges, and, in some cases, private pools or roof terraces. The 25,000-square-foot spa features a water pavilion with a steam room, sauna, and two pools, while the flotation pavilion offers its own relaxation area. All stays include breakfast, lunch, and dinner; guided group hikes; daily group wellness classes; and access to on-site hiking trails to explore at your own pace.

Red Mountain Resort

Spa lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and relaxation seekers alike need not look further than Red Mountain Resort , says Kulkarni. This one-of-a-kind wellness retreat near Zion National Park offers adventures such as hiking, biking, rappelling, and canyoneering, along with less strenuous activities like yoga and meditation. Alternatively, the travel advisor says those craving something more low-key can "just sit by the pool or go to the spa while enjoying the mountain scenery." Don't miss the signature treatments, including the Red Mountain Revitalizer (a full-body treatment that includes a prickly pear sugar scrub, full body massage, and warm Vichy shower) and the Adobe Lavender Hydrating Cocoon, which utilizes local red clay.

According to Fora travel advisor Amna Ismail , " Mii Amo is an ideal destination to escape, rejuvenate, and immerse yourself in a tranquil natural environment." The acclaimed spa hotel — a 2023 It List recipient — is located in Sedona , best known for its energy vortexes, which have attracted soul-searching travelers for decades. The newly renovated resort works with guests to create highly personalized and unique experiences (known as "journeys"). These all-inclusive itineraries also feature complimentary consults, lectures, fitness classes, specialty programming, and a daily spa or Trail House credit, which can be used for outdoor activities like hiking and biking. Although Ismail described the health-conscious cuisine here as "out of this world," it's also worth noting that guests also have the option to dine at sister property Enchantment Resort .

The Lodge at Woodloch

This adults-only all-inclusive wellness resort in the Pocono Mountains recently took home a 2023 World's Best Award in the "Domestic Destination Spas" category — and it's easy to see why. The sprawling 40,000-square-foot spa is free for all resort guests, regardless of whether or not they book a treatment. Highlights include two relaxation rooms (one of which is silent), several pools (including an infinity-edge one overlooking the mountains), a snow room, and a Himalayan salt sauna. The property itself is situated on 500-plus wooded acres. After completing one of the dozens of activities, sit down for a gourmet meal before retreating to one of the 59 rooms and suites, which serve as tranquil sanctuaries with contemporary decor and private balconies.

Castle Hot Springs

Fora travel advisor Karen Hart calls this luxury all-inclusive resort "perfect for those seeking spa treatments, activity, nature, a mountainous setting, and farm-to-table dining." She continues, telling T+L that "Everything is balanced here, with activities and services that go well beyond just the woo-woo of green juices and intense yoga practices." This 2023 World's Best Award recipient is most famous for its eponymous mineral-rich hot springs, which guests can soak in. The travel pro also notes that each bungalow-style accommodation — outfitted with outdoor decks, fireplaces, and bespoke stone tubs — offers an ideal sense of seclusion. That said, she's quick to note that "community and socializing are also part of the stay in the dining areas, the bar, the outdoor fire pits, and main buildings."

Inns of Aurora

The Inns of Aurora was crowned among the best New York State resorts in 2022 and 2023 . The Finger Lakes property is unique in that it's comprised of five individual boutique properties to create a charming village-style feel. The resort's world-class spa is perched on a hill, offering stunning views of nearby Cayuga Lake. Expect a range of Ayurvedic- and holistic-inspired services, including reiki, dry brushing, and hammam rituals, along with signature massages and body treatments. Other wellness-centric amenities include hydrotherapy circuits, a sauna, and a steam room. It's also worth mentioning that the town of Aurora itself was recently named America's Best Small Spa and Wellness Town by T+L.

Sundara Inn & Spa

Sundara Inn & Spa in the Wisconsin Dells was recently named a 2023 World's Best Award winner, making it among T+L readers' favorite Midwest resorts . Take your pick of dozens of spa services, including seasonal favorites like pumpkin spice latte-themed manicures and body polishes (available through November) and the Winter Warm Up (an array of bath and body treatments featuring notes of Madagascar vanilla and freshly distilled small-batch bourbon). Post-spa, head to one of the scheduled wellness activities like journaling, breathwork, yoga, or sound healing. Otherwise, enjoy a dip in one of three pools, unwind in one of the relaxation lounges, or take advantage of the five-step hydrotherapy circuit. We'd also be remiss not to mention the spa-like suites and villa accommodations — some of which have bonus features like private outdoor soaking pools, expansive balconies, and fireplaces.

The American Club Resort Hotel

The 2023 World's Best Award -winning American Club Resort Hotel is another Midwest staple. Located in the charming town of Kohler (yes, like the company known for its toilets, tubs, and sinks), the property — which is part of the greater Destination Kohler complex — offers world-class golf, top-notch food and drink offerings, and the over-the-top 25,000-square-foot Kohler Waters Spa. Speaking of the spa, it's renowned for its water-centric facilities, including a hydrotherapy circuit, relaxation pool, rooftop whirlpool, and cold plunge pools. There are also a handful of hydrotherapy treatments and one-of-a-kind bath rituals. Let the relaxation continue at the adults-only American Club Carriage House, where luxury rooms and suites include deep soaking tubs.

The Ranch Malibu

Famous for its organic vegan cuisine, luxury cottage accommodations, and signature weeklong retreat (aptly named The Ranch), this luxury health and wellness resort just so happens to be T+L readers' favorite domestic destination spa of 2023. Your day starts off with some early morning stretches followed by breakfast and up to four hours of group hiking. Before you know it, it's time for lunch and naptime. Then, you're off to strength training and yoga, followed by your daily massage. Post-treatment, you'll have free time to lounge by the pool, check out the infrared sauna or cryotherapy, or cozy up with a good book in one of the common areas. Best of all, says Kulkarni, "Everything is taken care of here for you, so all you have to do is enjoy the daily exercise, amazing food, and relaxation."

Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort

" Sensei Lana'i is a breathtakingly beautiful property on the secluded island of Lana'i (you won't see a single traffic light anywhere) that can be done at your own pace," explains Fora travel advisor Cindy Lu . "The island vibe takes off any pressure to hurry and ‘feel better,’ and you're allowed to center yourself in nature, comfort, and nourishment." The idyllic flora-filled property offers a slew of noteworthy amenities, including dining by Nobu, a tranquil pool area, complimentary beach shuttle service, wellness and fitness classes, and a soaking tub-dotted secret garden. However, says Lu, "The best part is having access to a private spa hale for yourself — a small bath house for relaxation and treatment that is an otherworldly experience."

Civana Wellness Resort & Spa

Let your worries melt away at Civana Wellness Resort & Spa . Located in the aptly named town of Carefree, this dreamy desert oasis is "known for its emphasis on holistic health and rejuvenation," says Ismail. She continues telling T+L, "With a focus on mindfulness, nutrition, and relaxation, Civana provides a serene retreat for guests seeking to unwind, improve their health, and connect with nature in a peaceful desert setting." Although it's not all-inclusive, the 2023 World's Best Award-winner offers a whopping 70-plus free fitness, personal growth, and spiritual classes every week — along with luxe accommodations, bike rentals, and access to 5,000-plus square feet of fitness, yoga, and meditation space. The spa features a hydrotherapy circuit and restorative treatments ranging from CBD massages and botanical-infused body scrubs to reiki and sound healing.

Ojo Santa Fe

"The tranquil grounds of Ojo Santa Fe invite relaxation and make you feel worlds away, even though the resort is a short drive from the center of town," says Fora travel advisor Jane Henzerling . This 77-acre property is famous for spring-fed thermal waters, where you can easily spend the entire afternoon soaking. "Shared pools are beautifully integrated into the grounds, and private soaking tubs with their own wood-burning kiva fireplaces are [also] available to reserve," explains Henzerling. Post-soak, head to the spa to indulge in signature treatments like the Lavender Body Quench Massage and Wrap. Carve out enough time to partake in daily morning yoga, go hiking, or attend a temazcal ceremony. Meanwhile, animal lovers also have the opportunity to snuggle with puppies and mingle with chickens. At the end of the day, retreat to your casita, which the travel advisor describes as "spacious and private, combining a minimalist aesthetic with creature comforts like fireplaces and throw blankets."

Lake Austin Spa Resort

This adults-only all-inclusive oasis is nestled in the heart of Texas Hill Country along the shores of Lake Austin. The 25,000-square-foot LakeHouse Spa offers more than 100 different treatments. Be sure to also take advantage of ample on-site activities and amenities like non-motorized water sports, daily hikes, fitness classes, culinary and cocktail classes, three pools, and a lakeside beach area. Meanwhile, the 40 rooms and suites are equally impressive, with bright, airy interiors and detail-oriented touches like vitamin C-infused shower heads and soaking tubs. When it comes time to refuel, head to the dining room to feast on seasonal cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients.

Hilton Head Health

Hilton Head, South Carolina is most famous for its golf courses and beaches. Unbeknownst to many, it's also home to one of the country's best wellness resorts: Hilton Head Health is a 2023 World's Best Award-winning property that offers three types of wellness retreats and three types of weight loss programs — all of which are all-inclusive of meals and snacks, fitness classes and facilities, lectures, sauna access, and activities like biking and yoga. No stay is complete without at least one visit to the serene Indigo Spa for some much-needed R&R. The contemporary rooms and suites are ideal for solo travelers and couples, while groups can rent multi-bedroom villas for even more space.
