Take That are back on their first full-length tour in five years.

Listen to this article

Since Take That returned nearly two decades ago, they've never really gone away.

Although Robbie Williams came and went, and Jason Orange retired from pop altogether in 2013, Gary Barlow , Mark Owen and Howard Donald have kept the flame alive.

As a trio, the group have played the occasional live show in the past five years – including a massive concert at Hyde Park this summer – but they haven't been on tour properly since before COVID-19.

Finally though, Take That are back on the road, with a massive UK and Ireland tour announced for 2024.

Who is supporting Take That on the This Life tour?

Olly Murs at Flackstock Festival in 2023

Announced as support for the This Life tour is former X Factor cheeky chappy and "very special guest" Olly Murs .

Olly's relationship with Take That goes back to his reality competition days, where he performed 'Angels' with on-off Thatter Robbie Williams in the 2009 final.

He also supported Take That when they played Hyde Park in the summer of 2016.

It's not impossible that another act may be added to the bill on some or all dates, but for now it's just Olly on the undercard.

Will Jason Orange or Robbie Williams appear with Take That on the This Life tour?

Take That as a five-piece in 2011

Since 2014, Take That have been very much a trio.

Robbie had returned to reunite the original five-piece lineup from 2010 to 2014, but he has since focused on his solo career.

Not long after Robbie parted from the group for the second time, Jason Orange not only left Take That, but quit the whole entertainment industry .

Nothing is impossible in the wonderful world of pop, but we'd say it's pretty unlikely that Jason will pop by.

Earlier this year Mark Owen said of Jason: "I think he felt like he didn't want to do it any more."

The three-piece Take That at the premiere of their Greatest Day film in June 2023

That tallied with Jason's own words when he left the group, saying: "There have been no fallings out, only a decision on my part that I no longer wish to do this."

Meanwhile, Gary Barlow had said: "Jason isn't coming back. Take That is Mark, Howard and me for the next few years."

And back in 2018, Howard said: "Jason has gone off the grid. He's not taking emails or phone calls or stuff like that. That's good for him."

Robbie is a very busy chap, between his solo career and long-awaited Better Man biopic , and he's only just wrapping up his XXV 25th anniversary celebration global tour at the end of 2023.

There's not been any serious whispers that he'll rock by, but he did show up with Mark not that long ago , so we've got our fingers crossed that he might consider it.

Speaking to Ball, Barlow said of the new song: “New music, it is exciting. We’ve been together for 33 years now so it’s like, ‘What’s next? How do we sound in 2023?’ That’s the exciting bit.

“There’s nothing more we love than going into a studio and going, ‘Who are we now? How does our music sound when it comes out?’ And it feels fresh and it feels exciting, and it feels like we’re looking upwards. I think we’re at a nice time of life.”

He added: “It’s hopeful and there’s a lot of light I think in this music. We’re very excited for our audience to hear it – always.”

Take That are renowned for their huge productions and incredible live shows, and currently hold the record for the most performances at London’s The O2 with 34 headline shows. 2011’s Progress tour broke box office records by selling over 1 million tickets in less than 24 hours, becoming the biggest tour in the UK and earning them a place on Billboard’s annual ‘Top 25 Tours’ list, placing third worldwide. In 2019, the band celebrated their 30th anniversary with the 38 date sell-out Odyssey tour which saw them play to 29 arenas and 9 stadiums, selling over 650,000 tickets.

Take That’s brand new single, Windows , out today - sees them reunite for their first original composition in over five years.  Windows , is a beautiful track which tells the story of emerging from the darkness into the light.  As a familiar falsetto rings out across the opening notes of Windows , it signals a new era for one of Britain’s best selling bands, Take That ; an era brimming with energy, creativity and a continued desire to challenge and surprise.

The musicality of Windows hints at what listeners can expect from This Life , the band’s ninth studio album and their first since 2017’s Wonderland . Beautiful melodies, soaring choruses, sophisticated harmonies beautifully blending the trio’s voices permeate the new album, due for release on 24th November.

“It’s been a wonderful experience being back in the studio together making this record. It has that feeling of spreading your wings, letting out the old and bringing in the new” commented the band. 'We’re incredibly proud of the new album - there’s a sense of togetherness, whether that’s us coming back together as a band or people wanting connection in their own lives.  We’re excited for this new chapter!”

Throughout the writing and recording process, the band honed this new sound in some of music’s most hallowed halls, including New York’s Electric Lady Studios and Nashville’s Historic RCA Studio A which between them have hosted David Bowie, Dolly Parton, The Beach Boys, Adele, Taylor Swift, Maggie Rogers and more.

How to get tickets for Take That’s 2024 UK tour: full list of dates, prices and when tickets go on sale

‘This Life On Tour’ will see the trio play 29 dates in 15 cities in the UK and Ireland

Ed Cunningham

Everyone knows Take That. They’re a British institution, responsible for some of the biggest pop tunes of the past three decades, from ‘Shine’ and ‘Patience’ to ‘Back For Good’. Just reading that, we know you’ve just started humming one of those tunes.

These days consisting of just Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, there are decisively fewer members of Take That than at the group’s peak. But they’re still going strong, having just released a new single (‘Windows’) and announced a new album (‘This Life’) to be released in November.

And now, in very exciting news, Take That have announced a tour. Named the ‘This Life On Tour’, it’ll see them play over 30 gigs in over a dozen cities. Here is everything you need to know about the tour, from dates and tickets to the support slots.

Will there be a Take That UK tour in 2024?

There most certainly will be! Take That are going on tour in the UK and Ireland from April to June 2024, covering 31 dates in 15 cities. After the presale today (September 27), further dates were added in Manchester and Leeds – more info on that below.

When do Take That tickets go on sale?

Tickets officially go on sale on September 29 at 9:30am BST . Find the general sale link here .

How much are Take That tickets?

Pricing for each venue and concert has not yet been confirmed, though ticket prices are likely to start from around £60, plus booking fees.

Can I go VIP?

Yep, you can do that through the official hospitality partner,   Seat Unique .   Packages get you things like premium seats, arrival via the hospitality entrance, premium dining options and other cool things.   Find out more here .

How to access presale

Presale was today (September 27) at 9:30am, so if you wanted to get in on the act and didn’t, it’s too late. Fans were able to access presale by pre-ordering the Take That’s new album ‘This Life’.

By all accounts, the presale sounded like a bit of a frenzy. Fans took to Twitter to express frustration at lengthy waiting times and website issues. Here’s to hoping there aren’t any similar problems when general tickets go on sale on September 29!

Take That (formed in 1990) is the most successful English boy band in UK chart history, specialising in their own style of pop balladry, the band hails from Manchester, England.

Band manager Nigel Martin-Smith in 1989 had a vision to create a youthful and highly appealing male singing group based on New Kids on the Block. Introduced to young singer Gary Barlow, Martin-Smith decided to design the group around Barlow’s talents, subsequently inviting Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and 16-year-old Robbie Williams. Originally performing under the moniker Kick It, Take That’s breakthrough came with a cover of the Tavares hit “It Only Takes a Minute”, followed by “I Found Heaven” and “A Million Love Songs”. Take That later released the album “Take That & Party” in 1992 which featured all of the hit singles theretofore released.

In 1993 the band released their second full-length album “Everything Changes” garnering generous amounts of popular appeal. The album peaked at No.1 and spawned six singles including “Pray”, “Relight My Fire” and “Babe”. Nominated for the Mercury prize the band saw some international esteem however wasn’t enough to break into the U.S. market.

On the wake of Take That’s third studio album “Nobody Else”, Robbie Williams came under some criticism from other band members for his drug use and was offered an ultimatum: sort himself out or hit the road. Williams chose the latter and Take That embarked on their first worldwide tour and released the album “Nobody Else” in America with Williams removed.

Sensing an opportunity to continue his solo careers in the shadow of artists like Elton John an George Michael, Gary Barlow and the group disbanded in 1996. Barlow’s debut solo single reached the No. 2 spot in the UK chart and Mark Owen began working on a solo album influenced by Paul Weller and Radiohead. In 1997 Robbie issued his solo album “Life Thru a Lens” which topped the charts as did his sophomore release “I’ve Been Expecting You” a year later.

In 2005 a new compilation of Take That hits “Never Forget - The Ultimate Collection” arrived which led to an ITV documentary where the band discussed things past. In late 2005 the post-Williams line-up announced they would tour around the UK in 2006 and released the album “Beautiful World”. The album shot straight to the No. 1 spot, sold over 2.8 million copies and is the UK’s 25th best selling album in chart history. The album was led by the single “Patience” which hit the No. 1 spot, the group’s ninth single to do so.

In 2008 Take That released their new single “Greatest Day” ahead of their fifth studio album “The Circus”. Like its predecessors the album broke many records and earned many awards, afterwards the band embarked on their Take That Present - The Circus Tour Live”.

Robbie Williams returned in 2010 with the single written by both Barlow and Williams entitled “Shame”. Subsequently the band released the single “The Flood” ahead of the group’s 2010 album “Progress”. In 2014 the group released the album “III” led by the No. 1 single “These Days".

Live reviews

Take That was A M A Z I N G! We had seats in Block 420, Row C, and had the BEST view we've ever had at the O2! The support band, All Saints, were quite good and a great introduction to how the stage in the middle worked and what our view would be like for the main act. We found by watching them that Take That wouldn't be little ants like we thought they would, we could in fact see them clearly. I cannot fault the start of the main act as it was just so good. The visuals were superb, and my mind was blown as I watched. As someone who is a die hard Take That fan and loves all of the new songs as well as the old, I stood up for nearly every song and got goosebumps all the time. The visuals again, throughout, were especailly good in the songs Giants, relight my fire and shine. Take That also did a medley of old or obscure songs in the middle, which was amazing for me, even though I was the only one standing up in Block 420! Their new dance song called 'Cry' really got the crowd hyped, as it was amazing to witness. Never forget and rule the world were beautiful, with phone flashlights illuminating the whole arena.

I also cannot fault the secruity, as it was like being in an airport and I felt very safe. However, we had to go to level 1 to get chips as there is not much vareity on level 4 and we do not like going to a big resturant on the ground floor before a concert.

My favourite songs live were: Cry, Shine, wonderland, it's all for you and rule the world.

Back in 2011 Take That played a stint of gigs at London’s Wembley Stadium. They were certainly impressive shows. Since their 2005 comeback the English pop group (it no longer seems fitting to describe them as a boy band) have been famed for the dramatic scale of their arena performances.

Take That drew upon their by-now vast repertoire of work. They had released no less than three studio albums since their much-anticipated comeback n 2005. Of course, the latest album and tour had been particularly exciting because it marked the belated return of Robbie Williams. The largely female crowd was an excitable screaming mass throughout the evening, letting out deafening yells, whoops and screams as the Take That four-piece opened with ‘Rule the World.’ Five songs later, Robbie Williams took to the stage to perform five of his own solo tracks. And then it was time for what we were all waiting for. THE ORIGINAL TAKE THAT LINE-UP PERFORMING TOGETHER. They began with ‘The Flood,’ the leading single of their 2010 album, ‘Progress’. Soon the reunited five-piece were transporting us back to the nineties with a fine rendition of ‘Want You Back’. Take That delivered an impressive spectacle of a performance. And with an encore featuring ‘Relight My Fire’ it would have been difficult to please their audience any more!

A nation went into mourning when boyband Take That announced their breakup in the mid 90s. However they delighted the devoted fanbase announcing a reunion in 2006 as they reappeared as a more mature, grown up band with a new approach to pop music. The tours have also changed with age, there and no more cheesy dance routines of the 90s videos and instead they have been replaced with more considered, sophisticated production values.

The fully reformed lineup took to Wembley stadium to delight fans with a barrage of dancers, lights, video interludes and an infamous illuminating elephant. With so much to focus on, you could review a Take That show without having to mention the incredible track list which includes mega-hits such as 'Relight My Fire' 'Never Forget' and 'Could It Be Magic'. The original reformed four piece also perform modern hit singles including 'Rule the World' and 'Patience' before Robbie arrives to play a number of his solo tracks including 'Rock DJ'. This show really is a masterclass in pop majesty.

What an absolutely wonderful time we had at Take That's Thursday night concert at Take That Arena.

Rick Astley was brilliant a trip right back to the 80s. I'd quite forgotten how many hits there were. Then bang up to date with some of his contemporary work. Great voice great music!!!

Then the boys landed!!!

The set and special effects were incredible. The lads worked so hard for over 2 hours and treated us to a catalogue of hits and routines from their previous tours. Even the outfits were authentic.

It was so fantastic to see such a show and be able to sing along to of the music.

Very hoarse today !

And a final surprise guest Lulu.

The little pocket rocket with the huge voice. Hasn't lost any of it!!

If you get the chance to see the tour my advise just do it.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary in style xxxxxx

I am a heavy metal fan who goes along with his wife to Take That concerts. Joy!

To be honest, Joy is the correct word to use. Take That always put on an excellent show and even thought it is so different from let’s say the upcoming Rammstein concert at the same venue I am so looking forward too in July, these guys show is exciting and so well presented that I found myself bopping like a 16 year old kid out on the kip for his first conquest. Loved it. I would say that of the 5 TT tours I have been to, this one rates second after the Circus show at Wembley all those years ago.

Well done lads. Loved it!

Yet again, a fantastic show. Take That never fail to entertain. They sounded fabulous, the stage was a masterpiece and Lulu was amazing! Rick Astley was the perfect set-up for the boys, getting everyone dancing and singing. The crowd were all in good spirits with everyone being friendly and polite to each other. It was an amazing tribute to the past 30 years with a real mixture of old and new songs. The guys may be 30 years older now but they ooze energy! Certainly my favourite gig since The Circus tour in 2009!!

The concert was stunning and amazing *-*

It was huge, even it was only the 'little' show of them.

Me and my friend both got a plec from Kevin, the best tour manager ever! And we never thought that Howard, Mark and Gary would look at us that much! All three of them looked at us several times and grinned when we grinned or laughed or winked or what ever. We botj saw that they have really much fun with that what they do! :)

This concert was just awesome! <3

Thank you for the great night! <3

Fabulous show!!. A million costume changes, loads of stage props and pyrotechnics fireworks ldancing girls and flames. All the hits were covered and appeared I went. Rick Astley is still as fab as he ever was though he did say" I'm 53 and knackered" lol. Surprise guest was Lulu . "Rule the world" a little tear ran down my face. All had our torches on and my dad's dear face on my phone was lit up like he was there. The stars are coming out tonight...for you Dad. He'd have loved it ❤

Take That Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald have announced a new album and that they are going back on tour in 2024 - and fans want to know when Take That tickets go on sale.

Following on from the Take That movie Greatest Days success, the boys are back to mark a new era of music after recording together in Savannah, Georgia.

If you're an original Take That fan, you will know that buying tickets for their gigs is like training for an Olympic sport - whether you're aiming for Gold Circle seats to get within arms reach or just want to be in the same building as the boys - your fastest finger might be first but is your credit card ready and your patience?

Their 2011 Progress tour broke box office records by selling over one million tickets in less than 24 hours. It's five years since the band last performed together and with a new single Windows followed by studio album This Life set to be released on 24th November, fans are determined as ever to see the boys live on tour.

Plus singer and former judge on The Voice , Olly Murs, is joining them as the supporting act, so both "#MursArmy" (Olly Murs fans) and "#Thatters" (Take That fans) will be scrambling for tickets - and that's even without any news of former bandmates Robbie Williams or Jason Orange joining them.

One fan wrote, "Let the ticket stress commence" and another fan added, "Love these smiling faces. I’m ready to buy tickets, stressy though."

And a third fan put, "I can't wait to see you but getting stressed about getting tickets already."

Take That tour dates and when tickets go on sale as four Yorkshire gigs confirmed - live updates

Sheffield Arena is expected to host Take That on the band's 2024 tour

Take That perform during the dress rehearsal at Sheffield arena in 2019

Fans of Take That are waiting with baited breath with the band expected to make an exciting announcement this morning (Fri) as they release their first new music in five years.

The group , which currently has a line-up of Gary Barlow , Howard Donald and Mark Owen , sent fans into overdrive when they projected their logo onto several music venues up and down the country this week. The band has already announced that their new single Windows will drop today (Friday).

Gary, Howard and Mark are due to appear on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 show at 8am and Zoe said there are "exciting announcements" to come. Gary has already been busy sharing photos of the stadiums emblazoned with the Take That logo on his Instagram story.

It is widely expected that the group will begin a new UK tour in the summer of 2024 but an official announcement has yet to be made. Take That were last in Sheffield for their 2019 Greatest Hits Live Tour which stopped at the arena, then known as the FlyDSA after it was the Motorpoint.

The Utilita Arena was one of the venues chosen to display the Take That logo during the latest cryptic promotion and many are speculating that it will mean the boys are planning to return to the city. The trio reunited onstage at the King's Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle in May.

Die-hard fans of Take That are set for an absolute joy ride as a Netflix documentary focusing on the journey of the much-loved boyband is in the pipeline. The band, which was initially a quintet out of Manchester in 1990, currently features Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen.

The threesome has tasted phenomenal commercial success including 28 top-40 singles, a dozen chart-toppers, and nine number-one albums.

They're currently gallivanting across the UK and continental Europe with their latest album, This Life. Earlier this year, the Manchester shows created havoc amongst die-hard fans when five concerts originally slated for Co-op Live Arena were shifted to AO Arena following technical glitches at the venue's opening.

Take That however made a thumping return to the Co-op Live with two dates in June as planned.

Very soon, viewers will have the chance to see even more of Take That thanks to an upcoming new series on Netflix. Whilst details such as title and release date remain clandestine, Netflix confirmed exciting news of the documentary on Wednesday, August 21, reports the Manchester Evening News .

Netflix UK took the anticipation a notch higher by tweeting a snapshot of the current three members of Take That, saying: "A new TAKE THAT series is in production! With access to Gary, Howard and Mark and featuring interviews with Jason and Robbie, this series will give unprecedented insight into one of Britain's most successful and beloved bands. When? Have a little patience."

A fan responded to their 2008 hit by commenting: "This is the greatest day of my life" while another wrote, "The day this comes out could be the greatest day of our lives". An excited third fan said, "Definitely gonna be watching this when it's out... keeping my eyes peeled and gonna try to have a little patience".

Hearing Jason would take part left a fourth viewer elated, writing, "Jason too?! That makes my heart very happy to read. He is missed so much."

Tears were shed when Williams broke away from the group in 1995, leaving the rest of the team to disband after completing their world tour the following year. Exactly ten years later, Take That: For the Record was released, a documentary chronicling the rise of Britain's most successful boy band since The Beatles.

Sky has brought back its viral free trial, meaning you can bag a Netflix subscription and Sky Stream for £0 for the first month, offering customers a saving of £31.

This means members can enjoy binge-worthy shows like House of the Dragon , The Walking Dead and Bridgerton without paying a penny.

Their best hits marked their comeback tour in 2006 as the four then-existing members confirmed a reunion. They went on to reignite their success as a quartet over time, launching numerous chart-smashers throughout the UK and Europe and selling an impressive 45 million records across the globe.

Williams did a brief stint with Take That during their sixth album release, Progress, in 2010, which promptly became the fastest-selling record of the 21st century and the second in UK history. Although he contributed to a historical sell-out tour that trailed the album, Williams opted once again to leave.

Orange revealed his departure from Take That in 2014, assuring fans that no disputes factored into his decision, which was solely his own.

Netflix is yet to confirm the release date or title of the upcoming Take That series.
