Highlights of Africa Wildlife Tours

  • Sail to the Mauritius islands for a whale-watching adventure. The west coast is the ideal spot to watch humpback and sperm whales.
  • Tour Botswana , a lesser-visited African nation, and glide along the Okavango Delta to see amazing wildlife, ranging from birds such a the Malachite kingfisher and the saddle-billed stork to unique mammals like the African wild dog and the lechwe.
  • Travel to Tanazania’s Selous Game Reserve, which is home to over 440 bird species.
  • Meet one of our closest relatives, the chimpanzee, in Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda.
  • Head to Etosha National Park in Namibia, where you will find 113 mammals, 340 birds, and 110 reptile species

Travel Tips for Wildlife Tours in Africa

  • The best time for whale watching in Mauritius is between May and September.
  • If you are heading to Selous Game Reserve, try to go there between November and April, when most migratory birds arrive to escape the cold weather in the north.
  • Do not hesitate to ask your guide to stop the vehicle if you think you saw an animal. Always remember safari guides are there to help you get the best out of your safari experience.
  • Keep in mind that in most countries in Africa, you are expected to tip your safari guide.
  • Respect the animals you encounter during your Africa wildlife tour. Always keep a safe distance from them and avoid disturbing them.
  • Plan your African wildlife tours during sunset when most animals tend to come out in the open.

product quote

"I grew up in South Africa and have been in the tourism industry for thirty years. Uncovering Africa's beauty is my passion. We design our own itineraries and hand-pick safari lodges and experiences. It allows us to listen and react to traveler feedback and build the exact experience our travelers are looking for. A lot goes into planning a safari. We want travelers to be focused on the moment, not the logistics. We know that safety is a must, but so is comfort and the little things like a day room for late-departing flights and a perfectly timed sundowner. We plan it all out to the letter.”

Description

Make the most of your time in Africa with this Wildlife Safari and Cultural Tour! 6 days in length and all-inclusive, our Wild Africa Safari tour is an opportunity to experience Africa’s amazing wildlife and unique, colorful cultures. We immerse ourselves in the African tribal cultures of the inhabitants of the Maasai Steppe and learn of their traditional and current ways of life. The days are filled with exploration and a healthy mixture of safaris in three of Tanzania’s best national parks, cultural activities and relaxation in luxurious accommodations with top notch cuisine. All of this is done in comfort with safari Land Cruisers being used for all our travels.

We’ll have the possibility to observe and photograph lions, leopards, African buffalo, elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, wildebeests, hippos and much more of Africa’s most classic wildlife. We will visit with three different tribal communities; the Hazabe, Datoga and Maasai. The natural beauty of the areas we visit is impossible to describe, but we will just leave it at “breathtaking!”

Special Note: This Safari tour is a perfect way to make the most of your trip to Africa by adding it onto the end your Kilimanjaro Trek.  If you’re not joining us on a Kilimanjaro Trek, you will need to arrive to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) the day before the tour begins by 3pm. Pre-trip arrival and accommodations.

If you are not joining us for the trek on Kilimanjaro prior to the Safari, you will need to arrive the day prior to Day 1 by 4 P.M. at the JRO International Airport, where we will pick you up and transfer you to our hotel. There will only be one airport shuttle departure for the group. Hotel and dinner are included the pre-trip night.

This morning we’ll awake to an appetizing breakfast at the hotel, and prepare for our adventure in the Tanzanian wild.  Your guide and driver will deliver a short orientation meeting and safari briefing. We will then hit the road for Tarangire National Park, dotted with soaring baobab trees. This area experiences its own small-scale migration as animals move between Tarangire and Lake Manyara in search of food and water.

We’ll enjoy our first game drive and be on the lookout for elephants, cape buffalo, herds of gazelle, zebra, giraffe, and warthogs. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and leopards roam this incredible park.

After we enjoy our packed lunch, we will continue our journey to Ngorongoro Highlands. Breathe in the beautiful landscape en route to our lodge for the evening. Along the way we get to enjoy the beautiful landscape as we climb the escarpment. Arrive at your lodge, located in the town of Karatu. Time to relax, enjoy dinner, and recall the beauty of what we’ve experienced today.

wildlife tour africa

Today, after a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we’ll drive on to Serengeti National Park. In order to reach the Serengeti we travel through the Ngoro Ngoro Conservation Area, skirting the massive Ngoro Ngoro Crater. We’ll experience a game drive on our way to our evenings accommodation where we’ll have the option to visit the Olduvai Gorge. This gorge holds human remains that provide us with the most continuous known record of human evolution during the last 2 million years! We’ll arrive in time for lunch and check-in at camp Serengeti. The afternoon finds us on another game drive, have those binoculars handy!

wildlife tour africa

Today we have a full day game drive, where we’ll get to experience the sprawling plains first-hand. The plains of the Serengeti are home to thousands of hoofed animals and ferocious predators. You’ll see flat and rolling terrain with long grasses, dotted with acacia trees. These plains get their name from the Maasai word Siringitu- “the place where the land moves on forever.”

wildlife tour africa

Today we wake up early and depart for a sunrise game drive. Morning is the best time to view wildlife in the Serengeti. After a couple hours on the game drive we will head back to our tented camp for breakfast. Then we’re off for one last drive through the Serengeti to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Descending into the crater we’ll enjoy our picnic lunch on the Ngorongoro Crater floor. We will spend all afternoon enjoying a game drive through the crater, which creates a surreal home for both year round and migrating species of animals and birds. After our full day of game drives, we will go to our accommodation for dinner and relaxation.

  • Drive Time: 1.5 hours

This morning we will enjoy a leisurely start. You can sleep in and have a later breakfast before we depart the lodge. Today we will travel through the agricultural market town of Mto Wa Mbu near the Lake Manyara National Park. We will stop for souvenirs at the city center, which also has a large, outdoor market with fresh produce. This is a souvenir hunter’s paradise, with locally owned shops and an abundance of small treasures to purchase and bring home. The market is a wonderful cultural experience, whether or not you choose to purchase anything. We will then drive out of town for a visit to a traditional Maasai Boma. Here we will meet the inhabitants of a small Maasai home, who dance and sing for us, and where we enjoy a lunch of traditional African style BBQ (Western cuisine options will be available as well). After experiencing the Maasai way of life, we will drive to our final lodging in the city of Arusha for our last night and a final celebratory dinner.

wildlife tour africa

After breakfast, you will have time to relax until your international flight today. You will be transferred from the hotel to the airport at a convenient time for check-in. Flights should be booked for departure after 9 A.M.

Safety Precautions

Your safety is our top priority. Our hiking tours are led by professional hiking guides, all of whom are wilderness-certified first responders or EMT’s, each with years of guiding and wilderness experience. Guides adhere to standardized risk management protocols in case of any potential or actual incident, and all tours carry an emergency communication device and comprehensive first-aid kit. Additionally we have a “24/7” system through which guides or guests can reach Wildland support personnel at any time.

In the interest of your safety, it’s important to refer to the  Center for Disease Control website  for up-to-date recommendations on immunizations before your trip.

Our approach to international travel is to combine the best of two worlds: the dialed-in details, professionalism and consistency Wildland trips are known for; and the cultural immersion and intimate regional knowledge that only locals can provide. To excel with this approach, we vet and hire the best local guides, welcome them into the Wildland family and train them to meet our standard of excellence with every aspect of a trip. But along with managing logistics and safety, your guides will teach you about the area’s history and culture, and provide a level of familiarity and intimate detail only locals can.

Check out our  Meet Our Team  page for staff bios.

Guide Working Parameters

Guides are required to take 8 hours off each 24-hour period to sleep, recuperate, take personal/down time…etc. In addition, as part of the 8 hours off they must sleep/rest or be in their tents/rooms  uninterrupted  for a minimum of 5 hours each night. We ask guests to respect these requirements and to not interrupt guides’ off time and sleep time unless there is a true emergency.

Age Restrictions

Age restrictions on this trip are as follows:

  • 12 and older to join scheduled tours (mixed groups)
  • 5 and older to join private tours, with final approval and specific logistical requirements (such as porter or stock assist) determined on a case by case basis

Trip Insurance

For your protection, we strongly recommend the purchase of field evacuation, repatriation, and medical trip insurance. International travel is expensive, and the modest cost of trip insurance is a sound investment in an uncertain world.

If you wish to purchase trip insurance, we recommend IMG/iTravelinsured. They are one of the world’s leading providers of travel insurance.

For information on recommended IMG/iTravelinsured policies please  click here .

For even greater information, or if you simply prefer communicating with a real, live person, feel free to contact our exclusive agent Michael Bennett. Michael will help you identify the best product for your needs, and there is no cost associated with his assistance. You may contact him at:

Email: [email protected] US by Phone: 877-305-9083 Direct/International by Phone: 702-448-3664

If you already have insurance or wish to purchase from anyone other than IMG/iTravelinsured, we recommend careful consultation with the provider to ensure appropriate coverage. This is because many providers have a number of policy exclusions.

This African National Park Is The Perfect Spot To View A Wide Array Of Wildlife

O ne of the first things that likely comes to mind when thinking about Africa is the continent's wildlife. After all, "The Lion King" has brought in $1 billion for Disney, not to mention other popular animal-centric films like the "Madagascar" film series and "Out of Africa." Africa's wildlife has made for a significant safari tourism industry in multiple countries on the continent, especially those with vast swaths of savanna where you can find dozens if not hundreds of animal species for which the continent is famous.

Kruger National Park is the largest national park in South Africa. It also has the most biodiversity out of all of Africa's parks. The top things to see here are the Big 5: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo. Nowadays, their draw is not so much due to how difficult and dangerous they are to hunt, but in how exciting it is to view these megafauna animals in general. Kruger is also home to wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, warthogs, antelopes, hippos, hyenas, and dozens more.

Book Transportation, Lodging, And Tours Ahead Of Your Visit

Shuttles from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) to Kruger National Park depart regularly, but these must be booked in advance with the South African National Park website . Lodging at Kruger National Park ranges from camping to glamping . Visitors can go online to reserve camping spots, cottages, and even luxury suites. Though it is possible to drive yourself through the park, there are multiple options for guided tours.  Siyabona Africa Safari offers both self-driving and guided tour packages for one day or even five days in the park. Sentashya Safaris  has similar options and will even pick you up from your lodging accommodation.

Many of the animals including the Big 5 in Kruger National Park are experiencing concerning drops in population. Though tourism throughout the African continent has shifted away from hunting, it continues to be an issue for wildlife in Africa, as is habitat loss. Game reserves and national parks like Kruger may eventually be the only places where most of these endangered animals — especially the critically endangered rhino — exist at all. Whether you go on safari in Kruger or not, research how you can help endangered animals all over the world.

Kenya & Uganda Gorilla Overland: Forests & Wildlife Spotting

This tour was incredible! Our CEO, Pesh, and driver, Bernard, were both amazing! The safari in Masai Mara was excellent, we saw tons of animals and got to get super close in our 4x4 vehicle. I wish our safari at lake Nakuru had been in a 4x4 as well but even in the lando we had great rhino, lion and flamingo sightings. Of course, the gorilla trek was also a great experience. I really enjoyed all the time we spent in uganda, especially at the beautiful campsite in Lake Bunyonyi. I would definitely recommend this tour and will absolutely be using G Adventures again in the future!

Outstanding Wildlife Photography Tour If you take this photographic tour with Armaye I can say that it is excellent from the moment you are contacted to plan it. Armaye was always kind and willing to have a good experience according to our budget and interests. He sent me an itinerary for 9 days and we traveled with him also we have used local guides at some parts. We saw a lot of Wildlife including our main targets(Ethiopian Wolf, Walia Ibex, Gelada Baboons, Menilik’s Bushbuck, Bale Monkey and Mountain Nyala) also reaching them with some hikes. Breathtaking views in Simien Mountain park but more chance to see wildlife and endemic birds in Bale Mountains. Our pictures are amazing, a beautiful memory. Unfortunately for me it wasn’t enough time I had in Ethiopia as I would like to visit many parks and more endemic wildlife and birds so I will plan to come some other time and use Armaye Tours service.

14 DAYS GORILLA,CHIMPANZEE AND SOURCE OF NILE Tour

14 DAYS GORILLA,CHIMPANZEE AND SOURCE OF NILE

Everything from start to finish was great. I first reached out to Bosco, the owner on WhatsApp and he was very helpful in answering all my questions and reassured me about the trip. Bosco was also our guide and driver for my 14-day safari. He was a fun, informative guide and driver. Bosco did a great job of selecting comfortable accommodations and food even though it was a budget trip. I got to see elephants, giraffes, lions, chimps, gorillas, and many more! Also, I got to experience some local culture as well, eating local foods and seeing how locals make a living. I felt like I really got my moneys worth on this trip going through a local operator. Bosco was very accommodating stopping for breaks, photos, shopping, atms, etc. I highly recommend anyone going to Uganda choose Enchanted Uganda Safari and Bosco.

Gorillas & Masai Mara - Camping Reverse Tour

Gorillas & Masai Mara - Camping Reverse

Fantastic countries; Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya, Incredible vehicle driver and cook, amazing travel partners, but the best was the animals; Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Leopards and so many more. I loved Uganda so much I need to go back, we had two leopard sightings, unbelievable. The campsite were good but the food was fantastic, I might have gained weight in this trip. I highly recommend this trip.

14 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking, Big 5 & Big Cats Tour

Devine tours took great care of us, took care of all bookings and arrangements making stress free travels. They were easy to communicate with and easily able to modify the tour to our specific needs. The lodge and activity selection were unmatched. We were so lucky to have Emma with us on our trip and know it wouldn't have been nearly as special without him! He took note of our interests, genuinely cared about our safety and was able to provide so much information and perspective. An amazing trip!

11 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking, Big 5 & Big Cats Safari

Devine Safari Ltd provided top customer service and an experience of a lifetime. Can't say enough great things about the entire process. Nicholas was efficient answering my silly questions, my driver, Ibrah, was AMAZING and the lodges, food and employees were friendly and hard working. I traveled as a lone female (no one else signed up for the trip so it was me and Ibrah for 11 days) and never felt uncomfortable! We modified our agenda a times based on my priorities and different animal sightings in our proximity. Ibrah is such a wonderful person and his interaction with others reflects that. Many times we would stop to greet other guides and they shared information with each other to make sure everyone had the best experience. There is never a guarantee with wild animals but I came away with so much more than expected! I feel like I got the safari part but also a much better understanding of the country and people residing there. THANK YOU Nicholas and Ibrah!

10 Days adventure in Uganda with buyaga safaris

I am very happy that I went on this trip even though there was a pandemic. Peter, the owner was very helpful and gave me enough info in order to be ready for the trip. My driver was Jaz and he provided me excellent service. Whatever I wanted to eat or buy, Jaz knew where to go and was very satisfied with all the meals. Even though it was only me and my driver most of the time, Jaz provided excellent company. I went in May and was very fortunate that it only rained one day out of the 16 days I was in Uganda. I saw everything I went there for and each day was well planned by the company. The places I stayed at were also state of the art. I highly recommend Buyaga Safari because they are very knowledgeable and will see to it that you are satisfied in your vacation. Going on this trip at this time made me feel human again.

What people love about wildlife tours in east africa.

Epic trip. Had to take one shot at an African Safari incase can’t go again. After lot of research chose Uganda because that is the only place where in addition to the big 5 you can do mountain gorilla trekking. Saw huge number of elephants on land and water, hippos in huge colonies and even 3 grazing at night in our resort grounds. Saw leopard climbing down tree as well as pride of lions in close proximity. Saw a number of white rhinos giraffes huge herds of water buffalos, Nile crocodiles in addition to multitude of birds. The chimpanzee trek was a good preparation for the ultimate gorilla trek in biwindi impenetrable forest. The people of Uganda are very very courteous and polite. Our tour guide Bosco and driver Vince tried hard to make the trip memorable and were very attentive to our needs. Strongly recommend .

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
