Cape Grace

Cape Town is a coastal city in South Africa that is crowned by the iconic Table Mountain. Named as one of the “Best 20 Cities in the World” by Conde Nast Traveler, Cape Town brings together cultures, cuisines and gorgeous landscapes. The “mother city” is home to award-winning wineries, fascinating people, and a vast selection of adventure experiences, including shark cage diving, hiking, segway tours, and close-up encounters with seals, whales and African penguins. Cape Town also boasts beautiful beaches and a popular waterfront promenade that boasts an entertainment complex with a variety of restaurants and retail outlets.

Cape Town is a popular tourist destination all year round.

Peak season is regarded to be in the summer between mid-December and early January.  Although February and March are also hot, there is a good chance that you will experience the howling southeasterly wind.  April is usually gorgeous: the temperatures are balmy, the light softer, the wind is dormant and the sunsets are spectacular.

Winter is the wet season and sometimes starts in May, more often June/July and often lasts right into September. Sunny days alternate with light rains.

Catch the best land-based whale-watching in the world from June to November when the southern right whales migrate to calve and nurse

Cape Town is the epitome of art and culture, with a long history influenced by groups of people often referred to as the Cape Malay. To truly experience the Capetonian lifestyle, a visit to the colorful neighborhood called Bo-Kaap , also called the Malay Quarter, is a must do. Bo-Kaap is immediately recognizable for its brightly-colored and photogenic houses, but the other main draw is the Bo-Kaap Museum. The museum, housed in an 18th-century building, covers the history of the Cape Malay community in detail.

The V&A Waterfront is one of Cape Town’s biggest tourist attractions with an excellent selection of cultural and historical sights. The busy commercial harbor is a bustling venue with restaurants, pubs, craft markets, the Two Oceans Aquarium, and over 450 stores boasting local and international brands. The V&A Waterfront is also the departure point for the ferry to the famous Robben Island Museum.

The Cape Peninsula Route is spectacular with the major attractions being the African penguins at Boulders Beach, the Cape Point (the romantic meeting place of the mighty Atlantic and Indian oceans) and the Cape of Good Hope.

Table Mountain National Park is acclaimed as one of the “New Seven Wonders of Nature” and is a signification attraction, with many visitors using the cableway or hiking to the top. The view is breathtaking as you overlook the city bowl, V&A Waterfront, Robben Island, The Cape Flats and the Cape Peninsula.

The Cape Winelands is made up of a collection of historic towns and Cape Dutch farmsteads. Stellenbosch, Constantia, Franschhoek, Paarl, Tulbagh, and Wellington are the major wine routes, producing well-regarded South African wines to the world. The Cape Winelands is also home to some of the finest restaurants in the Western Cape.

Hermanus is a seaside town southeast of Cape Town that offers phenomenal Southern Right whale watching. The whale season is generally during the months of June through November, however, Hermanus is an all year round destination, offering more than 300 activities including shark cage diving in Walker Bay, abseiling, treetop tours and quad biking.

Pascal is a travel angel! Highly recommend him.
We started planning for our safari trip contacting a bunch of different travel advisors but Pascal's service truly stood out to us as the best in the industry. He took care of planning everything from start to finish for our very last minute honeymoon trip (literally a month out and during the busiest safari season). He is extremely meticulous and very responsive to our 100 questions. He shared first hand experiences at each of the different lodges, personal pictures and gave us solid recommendations within our budget. He hopped on a call with us initially to explain all the differences to us first time safari goers, and continued to be very flexible and patient with us as we couldn't decide! We are very excited for our trip and cannot thank Pascal enough for being our first interaction on our upcoming trip.

3-Day Kruger Safari Tours

The Kruger National Park is one of Africa’s great safari destinations. Extending over 19,485km²/7,523mi², it is one of the largest national parks anywhere on the continent, and home to 150 mammal and more than 500 bird species. When it comes to the Big Five, Kruger is a key stronghold for both species of African rhino, and it also supports immense herds of elephant and buffalo, and some unusually relaxed big cats. A 3-day Kruger safari provides a great opportunity to get a good look at South Africa’s most popular national park, and to enjoy a sampling of its varied wildlife. Be warned, however, that once you have visited Kruger and caught the safari bug, you may well want to return one day for a longer safari.

6 Questions About 3-Day Kruger Safaris

Philip Briggs

Answered by

Philip briggs.

cape town and kruger safari packages

Is 3 days enough time for a trip in Kruger National Park?

“Absolutely. Three days is sufficient to get a decent feel for Kruger’s landscapes and to see a good selection of its wildlife, though it will restrict you to exploring one small area of this vast park. That said, if it is possible to spend longer than 3 days in Kruger, I would give it serious consideration. Additional time in the park will allow you to explore it more thoroughly, and every extra game drive improves the odds of seeing elusive species, such as leopard, cheetah, African wild dog and rhino.”

Is it better to fly or go overland to Kruger?

“As a rule, it’s more efficient to fly, especially for a short safari. Kruger is about five hours’ drive from Gauteng (which includes Johannesburg, Pretoria and O.R. Tambo International Airport), so the return drive will eat into your safari time. That said, many Kruger tours do start and end in Gauteng, and this has its advantages too. Driving is generally cheaper, and you will see some interesting countryside en route. And, with an early start, you’ll be in Kruger for lunch. Kruger is further from seaside destinations such as Durban, Cape Town or the Garden Route, so traveling overland isn’t a realistic option unless you’ve enough spare days to treat it as a road trip. One situation where driving into Kruger is clearly preferable is if you’re already staying close by, for instance in Mbombela, Hazyview or Hoedspruit. It also makes sense to drive if your Kruger safari is part of a longer road trip through the likes of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) or northern KwaZulu-Natal. If you decide to fly, several different airports service Kruger, and your best choice will be influenced by where you’ll be staying. The busiest flight hub is Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, which lies outside the national park, but offers good access to southern Kruger via Numbi Gate (40km/25mi) or Phabeni Gate (60km/36mi). Useful alternatives include Skukuza Airport, which stands inside the park close to Skukuza Rest Camp, and Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport, which is near central Kruger’s Orpen Gate.”

What accommodation can I expect?

“Accommodation options are wide open on a 3-day tour to Kruger. More than a dozen rest camps offer the choice of camping or staying in a comfortable self-catering bungalow. Some safaris stay outside the park, at one of several lodges that lie close to an entrance gate. These accommodation options include simple backpacker lodges, smart chain hotels and owner-managed boutique properties. In terms of pure value for money, accommodation options outside the park are generally preferable. Personally, given the choice, however, I would always stay within the park. This allows you to enjoy the memorable experience of being in the bush at night. It also leaves you better placed for game drives in the early morning, when carnivores are most active. At the top end of the range, several private game lodges stand in concessions within Kruger, and many more can be found in the various private reserves that share open boundaries with the national park. These all-inclusive lodges tend to be small and luxurious, and to place a strong emphasis on quality wining and dining. In private reserves and concessions, guided game drives in open 4x4s are the norm, and you’re likely to enjoy better big cat sightings than you would on public roads.”

Which animals am I likely to see on a 3-day Kruger safari?

“On any tour to Kruger, you stand a good chance of seeing all the Big Five and many other iconic African savannah creatures. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, warthog and hippo are all but certain, together with a varied selection of antelope including wildebeest, greater kudu and impala. On a 3-day safari, lions are very likely, as are spotted hyenas and jackals, but leopard and cheetah are a little less likely. Kruger is an important stronghold for both rhino species: the larger and more placid white rhino is common and very likely to be seen over the course of 3 days, but you would be very lucky to see the more scarce and secretive black rhino. Kruger supports excellent and varied birdlife and you can expect to see heavyweights, such as ostrich, southern ground hornbill, saddle-billed stork and various vultures and eagles.”

How do I avoid the crowds in the park?

“The best way to dodge the crowds in Kruger is to avoid the public area south of the Sabie River. The majority of rest camps are concentrated in this southern sector, and it’s also the main area utilized by day safaris. The payoff is that southern Kruger offers the most reliable wildlife viewing in the park, and your best chance of spotting all the Big Five on a 3-day safari. Within Kruger’s southern sector, traffic is heaviest around Skukuza, the largest rest camp, so a good compromise is to stay at smaller rest camps such as Lower Sabie, Crocodile Bridge or Malelane. Another good compromise would be to stay in central Kruger, staying at a rest camp such as Satara, Olifants or Letaba. Central Kruger also offers good wildlife viewing, but it is seldom as crowded as the far south. The area north of Letaba is even less crowded, but wildlife viewing tends to be slow, so it is not recommended for first-time visitors. If you are not restricted by budget, think about staying at a private reserve bordering Kruger (for instance MalaMala Game Reserve, Sabi Sand Game Reserve or Klaserie Nature Reserve), or a concession lodge within southern Kruger (these include Shishangeni, Lukimbi and Rhino Post safari lodges). These exclusive variations on the Kruger experience take guests on guided 4x4 safaris through areas that are rich in wildlife but closed to the general public. Kruger attracts a high volume of domestic visitors, so it’s best to avoid long weekends and local school holidays.”

How much does a 3-day safari in Kruger National Park cost?

“The price of a 3-day Kruger safari depends on whether you stay inside or outside the reserve, and whether you camp, stay in budget rest camps, or go for more luxurious accommodation. Typically you will be looking at around US$650 per person at the lower end of the price scale, US$900 to US$1,000 in the mid-range, and US$1,200 to US$1,600 or upwards for a more luxurious and exclusive experience in a concession lodge or private reserve. Kruger is also well suited to self-drive visits, which usually work out more cheaply than guided safaris. The negative of self-driving is that you’re unlikely to see as much wildlife as you would with an expert guide, but it does offer a greater sense of autonomy.”

Africa’s Best DIY Safari

South Africa’s premier wildlife reserve divides opinion. Some who’ve visited supposedly ‘wilder’ parks argue that the Kruger’s developed infrastructure, complete with paved roads and large public camps, undermines the wilderness...

The parks we visited during our stay were varied. The first evening safari we didn’t see the animals we hoped. However the full day drive the following day made up for this. We saw everything we hoped to, mainly the Hippis and Giraffes....

It is everything that thousands of others have experienced. It is soo big that it would take weeks to discover each region, but we were thankful for seeing the best that we could in a limited timeframe.

Brilliant glamping experience. The safari tour guide was knowledgeable and we managed to spot the animals. The glamping staff were friendly and they kept the facilities clean. This was a girls trip and we felt safe throughout our stay....

CAPE TOWN, KRUGER & VICTORIA FALLS ( Luxurious accommodation ) Tour

CAPE TOWN, KRUGER & VICTORIA FALLS ( Luxurious accommodation )

Embarking on the luxurious journey through Cape Town, Kruger National Park, and Victoria Falls with Little Roz Tours was an unparalleled experience that far exceeded our expectations. From the onset, the meticulous attention to detail and personalized service provided by Bronah, the owner, set the tone for a truly bespoke adventure. Bronah remained personally engaged throughout, ensuring our needs were met. We were fortunate to have a dedicated tour guide, whose expertise and gracious demeanor enriched our experience immeasurably. While the beauty of Cape Town & the wine tour captivated us, it was the private game reserve safari near Kruger National Park (Makalali) that stood as the pinnacle of our trip. Situated within a private reserve, we had the extraordinary opportunity to witness the majestic "Big Five" in their natural habitat, among a plethora of other wildlife, offering moments of awe that will be etched in our memories forever. The visit to Victoria Falls was nothing short of spectacular, compelling us to extend our stay to soak in more of the breathtaking surroundings. We wholeheartedly endorse this tour for those seeking an escape from the ordinary, craving a journey filled with exclusive experiences away from the throngs of tourists. This luxury tour promises not just a vacation, but a treasure trove of memories that will endure a lifetime. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Bronah and our exceptional guide, Shakes, for orchestrating an adventure that was truly priceless.

Tour Description

WELCOME & WILDLIFE SAFARI

Our representative will meet you once you have completed the immigration formalities at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. he will assist you with the check-in formalities for your direct flight to the Eastgate Airport at Hoedspruit bordering the Kruger National Park.

A transfer driver from the reserve will meet you at the airport near Hoedspruit on your arrival and take you on the short drive directly to the entrance of the Karongwe Private Nature Reserve where your Ranger will meet you for the short drive to Shiduli Lodge.

Check in to your beautiful Suite and meet back at the lounge and restaurant area later. Take a little time to explore the lodge and surroundings before meeting in the afternoon with your Ranger over the afternoon beverages and tidbits before heading off on your first Game Drive to view the wild animals in their natural habitat.

At around sunset, your Ranger will find a suitable scenic spot where you may enjoy a sundowner beverage out in the African bush.

You return a little after sunset to relax and have dinner. The dinner venue changes according to the weather and you may well be dining in the Boma under the starry African sky.

You will rise early today to enjoy some coffee and rusks (a South African favorite) before departing with your Ranger for the morning Game Drive to find the wild animals in their natural habitat.

You return to have a great breakfast and compare all your amazing pictures. You now have time to relax around the pool or view the spectacular array of birds and animals from the viewing deck.

Lunch is served around midday and you meet again later in the afternoon for coffee and cookies and go out on the afternoon Game Drive with your Ranger.

You return in time for your scrumptious dinner and you may arrange to do some stargazing with your Ranger.

You will get up early again to catch the wild animals while they are at their most active early in the morning. During the Game Drive you will stop out in the bush for a nice coffee break in the wild and return for your breakfast.

Relax during the middle of the day and enjoy a good lunch and maybe a little siesta before meeting for tea & cookies later in the afternoon.

You will go out again for your afternoon Game Drive with a drinks stop along the way. You return after sunset for dinner and a well-deserved rest.

You have the opportunity to enjoy one last Game Drive with your Ranger this morning and return for your hearty breakfast. Check out after breakfast and you will be transferred to the Eastgate Airport for your direct flight to Cape Town.

In Cape Town, you will be met by your  Safari Director who will transfer you to the Lion Roars Kloof Street Hotel located in the city and conveniently situated between the very popular Long Street and Kloof Street entertainment and dining precincts.

Your Safari Director will assist with your check-in to your rooms and brief you on the guided activities and tour program for the coming days as well as the many dining options available to you. He will also be available to do a brief orientation tour of the City and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to point out the main areas of interest for you.

The Spectacular CAPE PENINSULA & CAPE OF GOOD HOPE

After a leisurely breakfast, you will meet your Safari Director for a full-day tour around the spectacular Cape Peninsula.

The first stop will be for the great view over Camps Bay Beach which attracts large numbers of holidaymakers and celebrities every day. We continue past the beautiful Hout Bay fishing harbour to cross over the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive on our way to Cape Point National Park.

At Cape Point, we visit the historic "Old Lighthouse" to enjoy the spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean coastline and our second stop is at The Cape of Good Hope to take some great pictures.

From here we continue on to Boulders Beach where we visit the breeding colony of African Penguins and do a guided tour of the reserve. We continue on to Simonstown, the only naval port in South Africa and learn about the famous Royal Navy recruit in the late 1930s, a Great Dane breed of dog named Just Nuisance.

This is also a great place for lunch with several great dining options available. After lunch we travel to the oldest wine region in South Africa, the Constantia Wine Region and we end the eventful day back at your hotel in the late afternoon.

The Beautiful CAPE WINELANDS

We depart after breakfast to explore the beautiful Cape Winelands. We start with a Cellar Tour in a century-old KWV wine cellar that covers an area of approximately 50 acres. This is followed by your first tasting of some award-winning wines, aperitives, and spirits produced at the cellar.

Our next stop is at Fairview Wine Estate where we enjoy a Master Wine & Cheese Pairing. All the wines and cheese varieties are created and manufactured on the estate. There is the opportunity to enjoy a lunch in the Goatshed Bistro should you still need a bite to eat after all the wine, cheese, and home-baked bread with Olive Oils at the pairing.

We continue on to Stellenbosch to explore this beautiful university town that is known as the "Capital" of our wine industry. We stop off at Simonsig Wine Estate for our last wine tasting of the day (time permitting) before heading back to the popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for you to explore some opportunities for retail therapy and enjoy the culinary delights on offer.

Tonight you may dine at any one of the fine restaurants dotted around the V&A Waterfront and return to your hotel in your own time.

TABLE MOUNTAIN & HISTORIC CAPE TOWN

Today we explore the historical city of Cape Town and go up Table Mountain with the Aerial Cableway for a guided tour of the tabletop. After the great views from the top of Table Mountain, we enjoy a tour through the Historical City Center and the colorful area of Bo Kaap ending off at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

This afternoon you have the time to explore the area in your own time. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront abounds with fantastic craft stores, historical sites, and the very new Zeits Mocca Museum of Contemporary Art that has become a highlight of a visit to the area.

You have the opportunity to do the Robben Island excursion which should be booked well in advance. You may also consider taking a helicopter ride to view Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula from the air, taking a sunset champagne cruise along the coast to Clifton, or explore the vibrant Waterfront with all its bars and fine restaurants.

The WHALE COAST and the MARINE BIG 5 TOUR

Today we travel from Cape Town through the Apple & Pear producing areas of Elgin to the village of Gansbaai located on the Whale Coast.

We board the Dreamcatcher, a custom-designed boat built to enhance your viewing experience of the Whale and Marine species while doing the Marine Big Five Tour on Walker Bay. The Marine Biologist and crew on board will provide in-depth information about the abundance of marine species that may be seen as well as the challenges that marine species face based on their ongoing research.

We return to the land and you are treated to a cup of wonderful hot vegetable soup and rolls to settle your "sea legs". From Gansbaai we travel back along the coastline to Hermanus which is recognized as one of the premier land-based Whale Viewing areas in the world. Spend some time on the Whale Walk built along the 30 meter (90 foot) high cliffs and watch the Southern Right Whales playing in the ocean below, sometimes within a few meters of the cliffs.

We return to Cape Town via the scenic Clarens Drive taking us through Betty's Bay and along the False Bay Coastline back to Cape Town.

Rise early again to enjoy your last Game Drive on this magical Safari returning to the lodge for another scrumptious breakfast.

Today your magical holiday ends when your Ranger takes you on the short drive back to Eastgate Airport at Hoedspruit for your last flight to Cape Town.

Your Safari ends and we wish you a safe and pleasant journey back to your homes.

Cape & Kruger Escape: Cape Town & Greater Kruger National Park

cape town and kruger safari packages

Itinerary Details

FIRST-CLASS | TAILOR-MADE: Explore the most beautiful regions of South Africa on this adventure. Explore the Western Cape before embarking on an African safari through a private game reserve in Kruger National Park.

Cape and Kruger Escape

This 9-day South African safari takes you from Cape Town to Kruger National Park, discovering the sights and experiences only South Africa can offer.

A warm African welcome brings you into the Mother City, watched over by Table Mountain, with fantastic wildlife regions, gardens, and wineries all on the doorstep. You’ll have three full days to explore, which is just enough for a taste of Cape Town. Consider a tour of the Winelands or the Cape Peninsula. Don’t expect to see the Big 5 (they tend to show up later on this trip), but the Cape is home to its own wildlife including ostriches, the penguins of Boulders Bay, and fearsome great white sharks you can dive with just offshore. For a more cultural taste of Cape Town, explore apartheid history on Robben Island, or embark on a ‘Walk to Freedom’ tour. Just be sure you allow time for a trip to the top of Table Mountain for spectacular views.

Fly to Kruger National Park and transfer to your safari lodge in Timbavati Game Reserve. Morning and dusk game drives offer you many opportunities to spot the local animals, including the Big 5 (elephants, lions, black rhinos, leopards, and African buffalo), plus hornbills, wild dogs, cheetahs, wildebeest, and perhaps even the Timbavati White Lions found only in this park.

Transfer to Johannesburg to meet your departing flight.

Testimonials and Guest Reviews

All Around Great Kruger Safari Experience

I did the 2 night, 3 day camping safari. The guides, camp, food, tents, drive times all exceeded my expectations. The guides are really knowledgeable and friendly. The camp has a welcoming atmosphere, laid back flow with excellent chefs. There is a shop where you can get anything you need. I don't recommend adding on the night drive it is hard to see anything.

Excellent organisation, expert guides

Our tour of Kruger, Swaziland and Hluhluwe was a wonderful holiday. The organisation was superb and the expertise of the guides was first class. It is hard to absorb everything we saw and learned, from baby elephants and lion cubs to wild dogs, over 100 bird species and many, many rhinoceros families. The guides, particularly Olivier, were patient, knowledgeable and clear

Trip of a Lifetime

Just arrived from a trip of a lifetime with Kruger wildlife safaris. It has been a dream of mine to do a safari since my grandfather introduced me to the world of travel when I was young. From the moment your picked up in the private transfer van & taken to the camp that's located in southern Kruger national park I knew this was going to be a great experience.

Getting around

The Kruger National Park is approx a 5-6 hour drive from Johannesburg. The area is quite vast but depending on which lodge you stay in we recommend flying into either Skukuza or Hoedspruit airports where you can drive or be transferred to your lodge.

Highlights of Kruger National Park and surrounds

Everybody  should go on a safari at least once in their life, and where better than  South Africa's  world-famous Kruger National Park and the Eastern Cape, rich in wildlife and home to the Big Five.

One of  Africa’s  biggest game reserves, Kruger is home not only to the Big Five (FYI, that’s lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos), but hundreds of other mammals and birds, too. For wildlife, Kruger National Park is pretty much unparallelled. Not only that, rolling savannah and distant mountains make for the safari setting of dreams.

Want to experience safari without skimping on luxury? You’re in luck. Kruger National Park and the Eastern Cape is famous not only for its vast and diverse variety of flora and fauna, but also for its luxury safari lodges, so you get the best of both worlds.

Here’s how to make the most out of your Kruger safari trip:

Kruger safaris are always sensational, but there’s nothing quite like taking a game drive around the National Park by sunset or sunrise. Spot the Big Five before the rest of the world wakes up, as well as cheetahs, wild dogs, antelopes, honey-badgers, bush babies and up to 350 bird species.

For a different safari experience altogether, how about walking Kruger safari tours with expert field guides and trackers? There’s nothing quite like it for feeling close to the action and at one with the wildlife.

If you’re feeling fancy, take a helicopter flight across the bushveld and over the Blyde River Canyon. The views will take your breath away, and the ride itself is a thrill. You might even be lucky enough to spot a herd of elephants from way up in the sky, where you’ll be able to watch the magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

Enjoy phenomenal stargazing – some of the best in  South Africa  – from  Jock Safari Lodge , where you can even choose to sleep out on your riverside sala for the best outdoorsy experience.

Planning on taking the kids? They’re in for a treat! Drop them off at  Ulusaba Rock Lodges's  ‘Cub’s Club’ for mini rangers’ courses, safari goodies and activities which will inspire even the most apprehensive of little ones. Kruger National Park holidays are truly the best for individuals and groups of all kinds, including families of all sizes and ages.

Many of the lodges celebrate the local Shangaan culture with traditional singing and dancing after dinner or around the BOMA by night, a beautiful and harmonious treat for everyone.

Often when you think of safari holidays, you think of basic lodges and tents. But that’s not how we do safaris at Virgin Holidays, oh no! We’re all about treating you to a bit of luxury, no matter your destination.

Safaris in the Kruger Park safaris are always sensational, but there’s nothing quite like taking a game drive around one of the lodge’s private concessions. Choose a lodge in the Sabi Sands reserve and you will be able to skip the crowds and search for wildlife in your very own piece of paradise, with less vehicles and the ability to do night-drives, you really will feel spoilt. Book the exclusive Cliff Lodge at  Ulusaba  for jaw-dropping views and a private pool, as well as world-class service, or sleep under the stars in the oh-so-exclusive Chalkley’s Treehouse at  Lion Sands . Kick back with a cocktail at the  Motswari Private Game Reserve , which looks onto a watering hole, and watch animals come and go as you sip.

Special occasion? Celebrate your honeymoon with romantic private dining under the African skies and enjoy a hot stone massage using Africology products at the Aroma Boma Spa, Ulusaba.

Sounds just a  little  bit better than you were expecting, hey?

Foodies, rejoice: you’ll get to taste some delicious local food as part of your Kruger safari packages:

  • After an early start spotting the Big Five, a post-safari breakfast will be extremely welcome. How does poaches eggs on a Boerewors patty, a specialist sausage, sound? Thought so.
  • Lunch is served followed by high tea before afternoon game-drive then it is time for the best bit, sundowners. Enjoy stretching your legs in the park where your ranger will select a gorgeous spot for you to enjoy some traditional South African snacks with a cool cocktail or some fine local wine.
  • Feast on Kudu burgers from a  Braai , a traditional African BBQ – super succulent and so tasty you’ll want seconds, and maybe thirds. Even better, enjoy your dinner around the BOMA, with breathtaking views across the plains – the perfect sunset dining experience.
  • As for drink, South Africa is, of course, famous for its vineyards, which means one thing and one thing only: wine. And good wine, at that. Try Pinotage, Chenin Blanc and other new world wines from local vineyards. What a way to wind down at the lodge after a day of wildlife-spotting!

It’s high time you booked yourself and your family or loved ones onto that safari trip you’ve been talking about for years, huh?

Let’s get this show on the road: browse our  Kruger National Park hotels  and lodges right now, this minute, and you’ll soon be hanging out with (okay, near) lions in the African bush.

About Cape to Kruger

Cape to Kruger Tours and Safaris is a South African tour operator striving to ensure that your

experience of the African bushveld will be unforgettable.

From safari tours in the Kruger National Park to day tours in the vibrant cities of Cape Town and Johannesburg - we have it all!

An incredible wildlife experience

“Africa – you can see a sunset and believe you have witnessed the hand of God. You watch the slope of a lioness and forget to breathe. You marvel at the tripod of a giraffe bent to water. In Africa, there are iridescent blues on the wings of birds that you do not see anywhere else in nature. In Africa, in the midday heat, you can see blisters in the atmosphere. When you are in Africa, you feel primordial, rocked in the cradle of the world.” - Jodi Picoult

Here at Cape to Kruger Tours and Safaris we strive to ensure that your experience of the African bushveld is no less than unforgettable; a memory to take back home to be cherished. We aim to achieve this by getting you up close and personal with southern Africa's eclectic array of both plant and animal species, untamed and uncensored in their natural habitat. From the baobab tree to the Big Five, strap in for the journey of a lifetime; an adventure rich in both adrenalin and education. Boasting vast savannas and sprawling bushveld, southern Africa is a region demanding to be explored, and for the more “daring” brand of traveler, a safari tour is the way to do it! Nothing quite compares to the private thrill one experiences when subjected to a pride of lions after the kill, or the awe (some would even go so far as to say “reverence”) when presented with the sheer size and majesty of the African elephant. Soak in the last rays of one of Africa's famously blood-red sunsets, and behold the infinite scatter of stars after dark. These unique sights occur nowhere else on earth but within the heart of the bush, and to witness nature in her most raw form will leave you with greater respect for the circle of life.

Our Popular Packages

Safari packages on sale, what do we offer.

From safari tours in the Kruger National Park to day tours in the vibrant cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town - we've got it all! Experience the excitement of an African safari in the bush, or the pumping nightlife of Jo'burg if urban exploration is more up your alley. If you take a particular interest in marine wildlife (and you aren't faint of heart!), we offer shark cage diving as an activity on our Cape Town tours, as well as scenic trips up misty Table Mountain.

Collecting you from your accommodation in Johannesburg (or O.R Tambo International Airport), our comfortable air-conditioned vehicles will take you to wherever it is you're going! Depending on your choice of tour, your journey will take you through the Highveld and the rolling hills of the misty Lowveld, making quick but impactful stops to view waterfalls hidden along the mountain roads and other places of aesthetic or historical interest.

Different lodges offer varying accommodation – from comfortable en suite chalets to rustic canvas tents on the ground and treehouses nestled high in the canopy. Some tours even provide guests with the option to sleep out beneath the stars! Surely there is no other way to fully experience the bush than to press one's ear to the rich earth and be lulled by the soothing sounds of nocturnal activity?

Wine and dine on traditional South African cuisine (all Halaal, of course), and share tales of your safari exploits around the campfire; the taste of local flavour still lingering on your tongue.

Our tours offer various activities that guests are able to choose from – from sunset to sunrise, you will be taken on game drives in our signature open vehicles (the lack of windows allows for a uniquely intimate encounter with the inhabitants of the African wild). In the case that you decide a game drive isn't thrilling enough, we highly recommend embarking on a bush walk led by an armed ranger. They say humankind originated in Africa, and to walk the untouched, rugged path of our common Paleolithic ancestors will leave you feeling more in tune with yourself and the world around you than ever before.

Cape to Kruger Tours and Safaris offers not only wildlife safaris into the Kruger National Park and other private reserves, but tours of Cape Town's coast and inner-city hustle or a visit to the Cradle of Humankind.

Our Tour Guides: Enthusiasm and Knowledge

Our qualified tour guides' main objective is to ensure that our guests' stay is fun, fascinating and memorable. Our guides know the bush like the back of their hand, and will share their extensive knowledge with you if you ask! Each guide has undertaken the proper training in order to equip them with the specialized skills required to lead you on your journey, and most importantly the respect for the unpredictability of the wild. At the end of your trip, you are guaranteed to walk away from the experience with an enhanced knowledge of animal behavior, plant life, wildlife conservation efforts, as well as an expanded understanding of the social and cultural aspects of southern Africa.

Peace of Mind

Our dedicated staff is determined to facilitate your comfort and enjoyment – the quality of your stay is of the utmost importance to us. We pride ourselves in offering only the best tours and safari adventures through reputable and licensed tour providers, emphasizing the legitimacy of your experience. Forgoing the above mentions of “adrenalin” and “thrill”, we want to reaffirm that your safety is our priority and that you are in good hands! We aim to promote fun and excitement for the whole family – children are welcome.

COMPETITIVE PRICING

We offer a range of tours specifically chosen to fit your price range. Whether you are the discerning traveller seeking 5-star luxury, or the budget-oriented individual interested in the more economical option – we guarantee we have what you're looking for.
