The Brisbane CityCat Ferry is a via water transport service located in Brisbane. Brisbane CityCats (short for catamarans) are one of the fastest and most enjoyable ways to get around the riverside areas of the Brisbane CBD! CityCats operate through most of the day, with the first route starting at 5:25am and the last ferry docking as late as 12:55am. Services run right through the week. Tweet
CityCat Ferry Terminals are located along the Brisbane River between UQ St Lucia and Northshore Hamilton. Approximately fifteen (15) minutes north of Brisbane Holiday Village.
CityCats are exceptionally quick, don’t get caught in traffic jams, and the view is better than what you see from behind a car windscreen! Many Brisbanites prefer the CityCat method of transportation during busy peak hours.
As a tourist you don’t even need to be going anywhere. Staying on the CityCat for a complete loop will show you most of the river areas, return you to your original port and charge a fraction of what a tour cruise would in many other river cities. Sit out the front to experience the fresh river breeze on your face, out the back to appreciate the view or sit inside out of the breeze and rain.
Types of CityCats
- CityCats are a paid transport service that dock at every ferry terminal and run frequently throughout the day and night.
- SpeedyCats are a paid transport service that provide more than 100 peak-hour express services along the Brisbane River each week (excluding public holidays). A range of services stop at UQ St Lucia, West End, Guyatt Park, North Quay, Riverside, Teneriffe, Apollo Road and Northshore Hamilton.
- SpeedyCats provide the first-ever express services to UQ St Lucia and almost halve travel times for passengers travelling between Teneriffe and Riverside. Passengers can also go from UQ St Lucia to North Quay in as little as 15 minutes.
CityHoppers
- CityHoppers are a free inner city ferry service for the Brisbane River. You can hop on and hop off the CityHopper every 30 minutes. The service runs between 6am and midnight, seven days a week.

Features & Accessibility
Brisbane City Council’s fleet of CityCats has been operating along the Brisbane River since 1996. Over the years, the CityCats have become more fuel efficient and have reduced their engine exhaust and noise emissions, while improving the onboard facilities.
Accessibility
All CityCats provide space for six wheelchairs (four spaces are located in the internal cabin area, and two spaces are located on the outer deck). Additional wheelchairs could be carried at times at the Master’s discretion based on safety and current vessel passenger loading.
Staying connected
The entire CityCat fleet is fitted with Wi-Fi allowing access to UQConnect and EduRoam, TransLink timetable information and Brisbane City Council’s website.
You can purchase a Translink Go Card ; an electronic ticket that you can swipe as you get on and off public transport for hassle free travel. The card works on all public transport in Brisbane which includes buses, train and the CityCat ferry services.
You can top up the balance of your Go Card at pay stations around major terminals. Simply scan your card as you get on the ferry and when you get off. Your fare will automatically be deducted from the balance on your card and also display the remaining balance.
Multiple transport routes and types:
Your Go Card will work out from the swipes that you are on one journey and charge you accordingly.
Don’t forget to swipe on and off or you will be charged a fee!

City Cat Questions & Answers
A round trip will be about 2 hours but you can get off at any stop. I suggest that you work out if you just want a scenic trip or an adventurous trip with lots of getting off at stops. You could use up the whole day if you wished. Also review the stops to see if markets are on the day you travel. Most of the markets occur on the week ends. On a sunny day it is just the thing to do and the sites are wonderful. Take water to drink and some nibbles (take a back pack) as this works out a lot less expensive in the long run. You will have fun as it is a great thing to do while in Brisbane.
It takes around two hours, but you can get off and on at any terminal , a very relaxing trip, in the day there are so many things to look at and at night again its something special, with all the city lights and other sights along the way.

It takes two hours, and is a very enjoyable trip, I hope you like it as much as I did, and I will do again in the future.
If you have longer, it's great to hop on and off to explore places along the way - New Farm Park, Southbank (parks and cultural precinct - museum & art galleries, Performing Arts Centre), Riverside (in the CBD) ... for instance. Have fun!
2 Hours or as long as you want it to be, it is a great way to see the city. Hop on and off as many times as you like. If Visiting for a few days get a Go Card it will save you money.
Thank you all for the info. Will check it out..

Former BYU OL star Kingsley Suamataia selected by Kansas City in NFL draft second round
By jared lloyd - | apr 26, 2024.

Kansas City head coach Andy Reid was an offensive linemen at BYU from 1978-80.
Former Orem High School star Kingsley Suamataia was an offensive linemen at BYU from 2021-23.
Now the two will get the chance to see what they can do together for the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs.
Kansas City made a trade late in the second round of the NFL Draft to move up a spot and select Suamataia with the 63rd pick overall.
“Adding some royalty to the Kingdom,” the Chiefs posted on their @Chiefs X account. “With the 63rd pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, we have selected Kingsley Suamataia!”
Here is the complete release from BYU announcing the selection:
“DETROIT, Mich. (April 26, 2024) — BYU offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 63rd overall pick on Friday.
“Kingsley is not just a terrific player with tremendous ability, but a person a great organization like the Chiefs, Coach Andy Reid and the fans in Kansas City will love on and off the field,” BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said. “I am just so proud and happy for him and the entire Suamataia family.”
With the selection of the 6-foot-5, 326-pound Suamataia, BYU has had its last three starting left tackles drafted in the NFL. In 2023, Suamataia’s former teammate Blake Freeland was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round while Consensus All-American Brady Christensen was taken by the Carolina Panthers in the third round in 2021.
From Orem, Utah, Suamataia, is the fifth highest offensive line pick from BYU, behind John Tait (1999, 14th overall), Trevor Matich (1985, 28th overall), Gordon Gravelle (1972, 38th overall) and Paul Howard (1973, 54th overall).
Suamataia, who started 22 games for the Cougars over two years, becomes the fourth offensive lineman and the 13th BYU offensive player to be selected in one of the opening two rounds of the NFL Draft. Overall, he is the 21st BYU player to be taken in the first two rounds. Suamataia is the 35th Cougar offensive lineman to be drafted overall.
The last Cougar selected in the second round was linebacker Kyle Van Noy, picked 40th overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2014 NFL Draft. Van Noy has gone on to play for the Patriots, where he won two Super Bowls, Dolphins, Chargers and is entering his 11th season overall in the league, currently with the Baltimore Ravens. BYU’s last offensive lineman taken in the second round was Gravelle in the 1972 Draft to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Gravelle went on to play eight seasons in the NFL and won two Super Bowls with Pittsburgh and played in a third with the Los Angeles Rams.
An All-Big 12 selection in 2023, Suamataia becomes just the third BYU player selected by Kansas City in the NFL Draft. The last player was fellow offensive lineman John Tait, BYU’s highest offensive line pick ever, a first-rounder at 14th overall in 1999. Tait played 10 seasons in the NFL with the Chiefs and the Bears, playing in 148 games with 139 starts. Center Orinn Olsen was also picked by the Chiefs back in 1976 in the eighth round.
The Chiefs, who traded up one spot to select Suamataia, are coming off back-to-back Super Bowl wins, led by head coach Andy Reid, a former BYU offensive lineman himself, playing for the Cougars under LaVell Edwards from 1978-80. Reid spent the 1982 season as a graduate assistant at BYU at the start of his coaching career which now spans more than 40 years and includes four Super Bowl rings, including three as head coach in Kansas City.”
