Your Itinerary
1 New York City, NY The Big Apple. The City That Never Sleeps. Call it what you may, New York reigns as one of the world's most dynamic cities. But where to begin? The sacred soil of Ground Zero or stunning Central Park? The Guggenheim or the American Museum of Natural History? Should you take in a Broadway show or simply enjoy the nonstop show of people that parade through the streets? The possibilities are endless in the five boroughs of New York City, so get out and enjoy.
2 Newport, RI Famous for its Gilded Age mansions, many of which are open for tours, such as the Vanderbilt's opulent Marble House, Newport remains a charming, well-heeled resort city. For a different view of the mansions, take the scenic Cliff Walk. The rocky shoreline is also dotted with lighthouses, including the granite Castle Hill. Or step further back in time and try a Colonial era walking tour.
3 Cruising Cape Cod
4 Boston, MA / At Sea Boston's enormous role during the American Revolution is inescapable, and it's easy to trace by following the Freedom Trail, which links more than a dozen historic sights throughout town from the Paul Revere House to the Old North Church. But don't forgo exploring Boston's appealing modern side. For a 360-degree view of the city, head for the skywalk observatory on the 50th floor of the Prudential Tower. For art, browse the Museum of Fine Arts, which includes works from Van Gogh to Egyptian sculpture. If your interests lie in the natural world, wander through the remarkable New England Aquarium or Franklin Zoo. Find American history at the JFK Presidential Library or the home of President Adams.
5 Portland, ME Take in the best views of this vibrant city from the Portland Observatory, America's only remaining historic maritime signal tower. The Portland Museum of Art, located in the thriving Arts District, boasts the works of Picasso, Monet, Renoir and many other masters. Have a picnic or just relax in the serene Eastern Promenade Park, with its majestic slopes extending down to the beautiful Casco Bay.
6 Saint John (Bay of Fundy), NB Explore Canada's oldest continuing museum, the New Brunswick, where displays include the skeletal remains of a rare North Atlantic right whale. Saint John is also known for the bizarre Reversing Falls, a daily tidal phenomenon so severe it reverses the flow of the Saint John River. Birders will enjoy serene Irving Nature Park.
7 Halifax, NS Founded by the British in 1749, Halifax still has a British military air about it. Every day at noon, a ceremonial gun is fired at the Halifax Citadel, a star-shaped fortress where the guides wear military uniforms. The exhibits have a more seafaring slant at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and include the nearly 100-year-old Acadia.
8 Sydney, NS Historic Sydney boasts several landmarks from the late 1700s, such as the colonial Cossit House and the Jost House, which features an unusual beehive bake-oven. St. Patrick's, the city's oldest Catholic church, doubles as a fascinating museum.
9 Corner Brook, NL Start by taking in the breathtaking view from the monument honoring Captain James Cook, the first to map the area in 1767. More history awaits you in the Corner Brook Museum and its marine artifacts, forestry exhibits and collections from aboriginal people.
10 At Sea Enjoy a relaxing day at sea.
11 Saguenay, QC Head to La Baie and tour the Musée du Fjord, admire the frescoes covering every nook and corner of barber and painter Arthur Villeneuve’s home, tour a goat farm or travel the Craftsman Road to see artisans in their element creating cheeses, glass-blowing and soap-making. Don’t miss a hike through Saguenay National Park, which cradles the dramatic fjord that has enchanted travelers for centuries.
12 Quebec City, QC Surrounded by several miles of granite walls dating back hundreds of years, Quebec City’s fabulous Old Town exudes European character, exemplified in the iconic Château Frontenac. Another architectural gem is the fascinating Musée de la Civilisation, a treasure trove of items recreating the French-speaking city’s early days.
13 Montreal, QC French-speaking, thoroughly romantic and exquisitely cultured, Montreal definitely warrants a pre- or post-cruise stay. The Old Port is a hub of entertainment, while the Museum of Fine Arts is revered for its collection of more than 30,000 objects. For a respite from the vibrant city, stroll the Montreal Botanical Garden, a draw since 1931.

Holy Heights
Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal, Canada's largest church, in Montreal, Quebec
Located in the city's heart, visit Mount Royal for the best city skyline, port and water views. Check out The Cross, which was first placed on Mount Royal in 1643. Today's installation is illuminated nightly. Mount Royal Park is popular year-round, and on Mount Royal's slope you'll find Saint Joseph's Oratory, Canada's largest church.
Meander Old Montreal
The church interior of Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec
Old Montreal is the city's historic district. There's plenty to do within its boundaries, such as taking a spin on Old Port Montreal's observation wheel; shopping locally at Marche Bonsecours; or visiting Notre Dame Basilica, one of Canada's most stunning churches. Built by 1824, it has vaulted blue ceilings with gold stars, a gold-detailed main altar and ethereal stained-glass windows.
Montreal Botanical Garden is one of the world's largest, with over 200 bird species and 22,000 plant, flower and tree varieties. This includes bonsai, maple trees and cactus. There are several gardens to visit during your Montreal cruise, including the Chinese, Japanese and First Nations Gardens. In the summertime, the Botanical Garden also hosts events, concerts and festivals.
Local Cuisine
Montreal is known for three things: smoked meats, bagels and poutine. For Montreal-style bagels, locals recommend visiting St-Viateur Bagel. Cruise to Montreal and check out La Banquise for poutine, as it's open 24 hours. Schwartz's Deli is Canada's oldest deli and serves world-famous smoked meats.
Artpop Montreal and L'Empreinte Gallery-Boutique both have gifts, crafts and souvenirs from Quebec's most talented designers. L'Empreinte stocks things such as contemporary jewelry, handmade musical instruments and home wares from 85 artists. Meanwhile, Artpop has handmade children's toys, Montreal sweaters and an assortment of cards.

Explore Ottawa, Canada’s capital city and enjoy Montreal’s exquisite architecture, distinctive cuisine and European-influenced atmosphere.
Following disembarkation in Montreal you will be introduced to various areas of the city that reflect its cultural diversity and French charm.
Your exploration of the city begins with the Golden Square Mile. Once home to Canada's Anglophone, predominantly Scottish, upper class, this beautiful neighborhood – named after the square mile it covered – is lined with gorgeous Victorian homes, leafy parks and trees and a plethora of architectural masterpieces. See McGill University and enjoy a short walk at the summit of Mt. Royal Park for a panoramic view of the city.
Then, it’s on to the Mile End, a creative neighborhood, for a taste of a traditional Montreal bagel and then to famed Little Italy for a stroll through the sprawling Jean-Talon Market, complete with tastings from local producers.
Next, you will visit a local restaurant for lunch.
This City Tour would not be complete without a stop in Old Montreal, where you will visit the magnificent 19th-Century Notre-Dame Basilica. Its stained-glass windows depict the history of Ville-Marie, the original name of Montreal.
After an orientation tour on the bus, you will be given the option to follow your guide for a short walking tour of Old Montreal or be given some free time to explore on your own. You will then be taken back to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Dinner will be on your own.
Included in your program is the admission to La Grande Roue de Montréal in Old Montréal which you can experience on your own during your stay (tickets to be provided upon arrival, with your Welcome Letter or at the Hospitality Desk). Built in 2017, La Grande Roue de Montréal has quickly become a major Icon of the Montreal skyline. With its 60 meters high, La Grande Roue de Montréal is the tallest structure of its kind in Canada. Treat yourself during the day for a panoramic view of up to 28 km / 17 miles on a clear day, or in the evening to see the city lights from an exciting angle.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will set out for the 2-hour and 15-minute drive to Ottawa, Canada’s vibrant and beautiful capital city as chosen by Queen Victoria in 1857.
Over the past century, this former lumber town has gracefully blossomed into a cosmopolitan city filled with neo-gothic government buildings, gardens and parks.
Upon arrival in Ottawa, you will travel along Sussex Drive and view the Prime Minister and General Governor’s residences. Downtown, you will see Parliament Hill and take a drive along the Rideau Canal – the brilliant waterway that cuts through Ottawa’s downtown. This famous waterway turns into the world’s longest skating rink in the winter.
After this orientation tour, enjoy some free time at the ByWard Market to grab a bite for lunch on your own and do some further exploring before being picked up for the continuation of the tour.
Established by Lt-Col. John By in 1826, the ByWard Market is one of Canada's oldest and largest public markets. Within an area roughly four blocks square, you'll find museums, cafés, specialty food shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants, pubs and more! Easily accessible on foot, the ByWard Market offers a unique experience for all.
After some time at the market, visit the Canadian Museum of History. After a guided tour of the museum, you will explore the Canadian History Hall. Opened on July 1st, 2017 as a gift to the people of Canada for the 150th anniversary of Confederation, this gallery traces Canada’s history from the dawn of human habitation to the present day. Authentic artifacts and stories are explored through various lenses, as you will encounter the events, movements and personalities that have shaped our nation, and whose influence on our lives can still be felt today.
Return to Montreal where the remainder of the day is at your leisure with dinner on your own.
After breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and transfer to Jardin Botanique de Montréal to enjoy the natural beauty of this city’s jewel. Recognized as one of the world’s greatest botanical gardens, it displays a collection of over 22,000 plant species and cultivars, 10 exhibition greenhouses, Frédéric Back Tree Pavilion, and more than 20 thematic gardens spread out over 75 hectares.
After your visit, return to your hotel where lunch and the remainder of the day is yours to spend at leisure, allowing time to visit the city on your own taking in more sights not seen on this itinerary or perhaps to shop for Canadian souvenirs.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Check-out is at 12:00pm. You will be transferred to the Montreal International Airport based on your flight details. Should you have a late flight, luggage storage will be available at the hotel.

Recap | Revs cruise past CF Montréal, 5-0, to match biggest road win in club history
- Share on Facebook
MONTREAL (August 24, 2024) – The New England Revolution (8-14-2; 26 pts.) returned to MLS play with a 5-0 victory on the road at CF Montreal (6-11-9; 27 pts.) on Saturday night at Stade Saputo. Bobby Wood opened the scoring with two first-half goals and Carles Gil marked his return to the lineup with a pair of assists, matching Steve Ralston (82) for the most assists in club history across all competitions. Forward Luca Langoni made his MLS debut, logging a goal and an assist off the bench in the second half. Ian Harkes pitched in with two assists as a substitute, while Giacomo Vrioni and Nick Lima also added goals.
New England got out on the front foot early, with Bobby Wood scoring just seven minutes into the contest. Carles Gil sprung a pass down the wing to Brandon Bye, who whipped in a cross to Wood at the top of the six-yard box for a one-time finish. Wood, making his 50th Revolution appearance, scored for the third straight match in all competitions. Bye logged his first assist in MLS this season, his second in as many games, before an ankle injury cut his night short only five minutes later.
Wood added a second goal in the 37th minute, giving the Hawaiian forward his first multi-goal game in MLS. With a loose ball in front, Wood took on three Montreal defenders and goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois, controlling the ball from the ground before sliding it into the bottom corner.
Gil, playing in his first match since June 22 after missing nine games with a leg injury, made it five straight MLS appearances with an assist, matching his own club record. The Spaniard also set up Nick Lima's tally in the 71st minute with a well-placed cross to the center of the penalty area, which Vrioni dummied to allow the defender to fire it home. Gil's second multi-assist performance of the campaign ties him for the most helpers by a Revolution player in all contests. Gil is now the fourth-fastest player in MLS history to reach 70 regular season assists, doing so in 151 games.
The second half saw the return of forwards Vrioni and Dylan Borrero from injury, who both came off the bench in the 66th minute. Langoni also entered the game for New England in the second half to make his club and MLS debut. Vrioni scored his seventh goal in his last seven league appearances, and nearly had a second goal called back for offside. Langoni finished the scoring four minutes later, firing a shot off the hands of Sirois off a feed from Dylan Borrero. The Argentine, who arrived on a club-record transfer from Boca Juniors, made history as the first Revolution player to register a goal and an assist in his debut for the club.
Ian Harkes was credited with a pair of secondary assists on the final two goals of the night, his first multi-assist game in MLS. In goal, Aljaž Ivačič collected his third shutout of the season with a four-save effort in goal. The backline was anchored by Lima, center backs Dave Romney and Xavier Arreaga, and full back Will Sands. The latter made his first Revolution start in his first league appearance for the club, and third across all competitions, replacing an injured Peyton Miller.
The Revolution are back on the road next Saturday, August 31, facing Western Conference foe Real Salt Lake. The 9:30 p.m. ET kickoff at America First Field is available to watch on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app in English and Spanish. Listen to the Revolution's local radio calls on 98.5 The Sports Hub (WBZ-FM), with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies, and on 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese.

Sporting Kansas City cruise past Indy Eleven to advance to US Open Cup final
- Share on Facebook
One half of the 2024 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup final is set as Sporting Kansas City topped USL Championship side Indy Eleven in their semifinal matchup at Children's Mercy Park on Tuesday evening.
They'll now take on the winner of the other semifinal showdown between Seattle Sounders FC and LAFC , set for Wednesday evening at Starfire Sports Complex. Sporting KC are seeking a fifth all-time US Open Cup trophy, which would set a new record for an MLS club, breaking a tie with Seattle and Chicago Fire FC .
The final for the historic tournament is slated for Sept. 25, with the winner receiving a 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup berth.
Sporting Kansas City 2, Indy Eleven 0
A pair of first-half goals delivered Sporting KC the decisive result, never looking back after a highlight-reel opener from Scottish attacker Johnny Russell .
Russell put the hosts on top just 14 minutes after kickoff, unleashing a long-range golazo from well outside the penalty area that evaded Indy goalkeeper Hunter Sulte.
That advantage was doubled on 35 minutes, as Dany Rosero converted a close-range header at the far post off a cross from Rémi Walter . Sporting had to withstand a barrage of second-half pressure from Indy Eleven as they searched for a goal to halve the deficit, but the visitors couldn't quite thwart goalkeeper Tim Melia .
Sporting had a chance to add on a third goal late from the penalty spot, but Sulte managed to save the spot-kick from Alan Pulido .

Montreal filmmaker Matthew Rankin’s Une langue universelle ( Universal Language ) will represent Canada in the Oscar category of Best International Feature Film.
Montrealer Matthew Rankin's Universal Language to represent Canada at Oscars Back to video
Telefilm Canada revealed on Tuesday the choice by the pan-Canadian selection committee from among 26 candidates.
“It’s so improbable to be selected to represent Canada. But we’re going to do our best to represent Canada. We share this joy with all the beautiful and hilarious people who are part of this filmmaking family,” said the Manitoba-born director, who now lives in Montreal, at a news conference.

His second feature film, written with Pirouz Nemati and Ila Firouzabadi, premièred at the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. It will have its North American première at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Sept. 10, and will then be released in theatres on Sept. 20.
The film is described as a “surrealist comedy.” It features three stories, including one in which the director plays himself as a civil servant who leaves his job with the Quebec government to find his loved ones in Winnipeg.
His story intertwines with that of Nazgol and Negin, who are trying to recover a sum of money frozen in the ice covering a sidewalk, as well as that of Massoud, who leads a group of disoriented tourists on a walking tour of Winnipeg.
The film travels between Winnipeg, Quebec City and Tehran. The dialogue also alternates between French and Farsi.
The short list of 15 potential contenders for Best International Film will be revealed on Dec. 17, and the final selection of five nominees will be announced on Jan. 17. The 97th Academy Awards take place March 2, 2025 in Los Angeles.
According to the film’s producer Sylvain Corbeil, Universal Language is “in a good position to go as far as possible” in the race for the Oscars.
“We already have a partner in the United States who is very solid, who believes in the film. We already have a lot of media coverage in the United States from the specialized press. Our reviews are excellent,” he said.
The Metafilms producer also pointed out that the feature film has had “a very solid festival run” with confirmation from about 50 international festivals.
“We won the Audience Award at Cannes. We just won an award at the Melbourne Festival. We have an extraordinary team of press relations people and a film crew. We made this film collectively from the very beginning. It was a huge human joy to be part of this project,” he said.
“And it is with this energy that we will continue to promote the film.”
For the moment, nine countries have submitted their candidacy for Best International Film, according to Telefilm Canada.
Last year, 88 countries submitted a film in this category. Canada chose “Rojek”, also produced by Sylvain Corbeil. However, the documentary by young Montreal filmmaker of Kurdish origin Zayne Akyol was not a finalist.
So far, eight Canadian films have been officially nominated for Best International Film. The last one in the running was Kim Nguyen’s “Rebelle” in 2013. The only Canadian film to have won the statuette in this category is Denys Arcand’s “Les Invasions barbares” in 2004.
Rankin debuted in 2019 with the feature The Twentieth Century, an absurdist biopic of former Canadian Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King.
