As well as being a queen of the airwaves and silver screen, Dolly Parton has already conquered the world of musical theatre.

The adaptation of her classic 1980 movie 9 to 5 stormed Broadway over a decade ago before winning over the West End, but we've long wanted a musical that takes in all of Dolly's very biggest songs.

Well, our wishes have very much been answered with the launch of Here You Come Again – The Dolly Parton Musical , a joyous new musical comedy that's soundtracked by classic tracks from across Dolly's career.

And you won't have to go to Broadway or even the West End to catch it, with the production going on tour across the UK from May to December 2024.

Tickets for the tour are on sale now and are available from the show's official website.

"Packed with the iconic songs 'Jolene ', '9 to 5' , 'Islands in the Stream', 'I Will Always Love You' , 'Here You Come Again' and more, this lively and touching new musical tells the story of a diehard fan whose fantasy version of international icon Dolly Parton gets him through trying times," reads the blurb.

Dolly Parton Announces First Dates for Pure and Simple Tour

Dolly Parton fans, mark your calendars. The first set of dates of the legend's upcoming Pure & Simple Tour have been announced, and the string of 14 shows begins June 3 in Greensboro, N.C.

The Pure & Simple Tour is Parton’s largest North American tour in more than two decades, with 16 cities in the first leg including Charleston, W. Va., Philadelphia and Cincinnati. Parton is also slated to host a benefit concert in November as part of the tour that will support her Imagination Library, which provides free books to children across Tennessee. The tour coincides with the release of a new double-disc record called Pure & Simple With Dolly’s Biggest Hits , which includes all of her classic songs in addition to a few new tracks.

Parton has been keeping extremely busy lately, not only gearing up for her tour, but also with the creation and success of her TV movie Coat of Many Colors , which tells the story of one summer growing up in rural East Tennessee with her family. Named for her song by the same title, it’s the first of three the artist signed on to make with NBC, the second of which will be based on her tune "Jolene." Coat of Many Colors comes to DVD on May 3.

The legend recently gave a unique performance at the ACM Awards with pop star Katy Perry, singing a colorful medley "Coat of Many Colors" with "Jolene" and "9 to 5."

Dolly Parton has given fans something to look forward to when the COVID lockdown is over – a 75th birthday global tour.

The country superstar hits the milestone in January and she is planning to hit stadiums around the world to celebrate – when it’s safe to do so.

United Talent Agency’s Neil Warnock told Music Week magazine, “Expect ‘Dolly Fest’ to go global in 15 stadiums, which we have on hold right now. And it will be very Dolly.”

Parton also hopes to launch a Broadway show in 2021 and has plans to publish another book and release a new album as part of a new deal with 12Tone.

Dolly Parton to go on global stadium tour to mark her 75th birthday

Dolly Parton is to tour stadiums next year as part of ‘Dolly Fest’ to celebrate her 75th birthday.

The legendary musician, who will turn 75 on January 19, 2021, is set to perform shows at 15 stadiums worldwide in 2021 – coronavirus restrictions permitting.

United Talent Agency’s Neil Warnock told Music Week magazine: “Expect ‘Dolly Fest’ to go global in 15 stadiums, which we have on hold right now. And it will be very Dolly.”

Tour dates and venues are yet to be announced.

Parton looks to have a busy 2021, with the launch of a Broadway show, another book publication, more film features and a new album following signing with 12Tone.

This year alone, Parton has released the festive album ‘A Holly Dolly Christmas’, the Netflix movie Christmas On The Square , and her book Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life In Lyrics .

In other news, the country legend said recently that she hopes Beyoncé might one day cover her hit single ‘Jolene’ .

Speaking in a new interview, Parton discussed the many times the 1973 song has been covered by other artists, but added that she’s still hopeful a major act will record their own take and enjoy a “really big hit” with it.

“‘Jolene’ has been recorded more than any other song that I have ever written,” Parton told  The Big Issue . “It has been recorded worldwide over 400 times in lots of different languages by lots of different bands.

“ The White Stripes did a wonderful job of it, and many other people. But nobody’s ever had a really big hit record on it.”

Bringing up the former  Destiny’s Child  singer, Parton said: “I’ve always hoped somebody might do someday, someone like Beyonce.”

Dolly Parton was already having a pretty massive 2021, what with her contribution to the funding of the coronavirus vaccine , her inclusion on the Time 100 and People of the Year honors, raising $700,000 for Tennessee flood relief and dropping a new fragrance . But on Friday (Dec. 17) the folks at Guinness World Records revealed that the 75-year-old country icon has also added three new records to her groaning shelf of achievements.

According to the record-keeping folks, Parton now holds the high-water mark for most decades on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart by a female artist (seven) and most No. 1 hits on that chart by a female artist (25) as well as breaking her own existing record for the most hits on the that chart by a female artist with a mind-blowing 109 hits.

The three new records join Dolly’s previous record for the most decades with a top 20 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart (six), which she earned in 2018. “Well, I feel like a bird that wants to fly away,” Parton said in a Guinness video announcing the three new achievements when asked how it feels to add a fourth record while breaking a previous one?

“Actually, getting the first one was an amazing thing to me and I thought just to be in the Guinness Book of World Records one time would be great. And now that I’ve got all this going it’s an amazing feeling. I’m very honored, very proud and I’ve had a lot of people helping to get me here, so thanks to all of you and all of them for helping me have all this!”

Parton also had high praise for the song that helped her achieve her latest record, the Reba McEntire duet “Does He Love You,” their first-ever collaboration. “Reba and I’ve been friends for years and I don’t know why we’ve never done it,” she said. “We’ve worked together so much and we’ve always said, ‘We gotta do something together.’ But usually we were talking about doing a movie or something like that… that’s one of the things I’m proudest of. I think it turned out really well.”

In October, McEntire told Billboard that the remake of her 1993 No. 1 with Dolly was a “ dream come true “; the song debuted at No. 47 on Billboard ‘s Hot Country Songs chart dated Oct. 16.

Dolly Parton’s ‘Rockstar’ Has a Feature by Literally Every Rock Star

It’s probably safe to say that Dolly Parton will be the only artist this year (and possibly ever) whose new album will include features by Lizzo , Rob Halford , Paul McCartney , and Stevie Nicks . The dual Country Music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member’s long-awaited rock project Rockstar will bow Nov. 17 and includes more than 40 guests across its 30 tracks.

Other guests on the project include Sting, Chris Stapleton, Elton John, Simon Le Bon, John Fogerty, Kid Rock, and Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Star on a version of “Let It Be.” Rockstar will conclude with a version of “Free Bird” featuring the voice of the late Ronnie Van Zant as well as other Lynyrd Skynyrd members Gary Rossington (who died in March) and Artimus Pyle .

Dolly Parton has announced her intention to slow down work in 2021, after becoming “sick of Dolly Parton”.

The country icon is the star of a new Netflix Christmas film and has just released a new Christmas album, while she is the face of a number of different brands. But such saturation has led Parton to decide to retreat from the spotlight next year.

“I’m sick of Dolly, ain’t you?” Parton told T Magazine . “With all the stuff coming out, it’s like, if I hear one more product, one more story, one more thing about Dolly Parton…

“I think, ‘Well, maybe I better hang it up for a while next year.’”

The report indicates that Parton’s manager Danny Mozell confirmed the singer-songwriter’s words, with Parton planning on “pulling back” in 2021 “to avoid oversaturating the market”.

Despite her plans, Parton told T Magazine that she has no intention of slowing down all together. “It starts with a song, and I hope it’ll end with a song,” she explained, adding that she will still release music even if she gets to a point where she can no longer tour.

“[I can] do my a cappella album: ‘From the Bedside With Dolly’! ‘Dolly’s Deathbed Songs’! … That paints a picture, don’t it?”

Parton, who recently opened up about helping fund a Covid-19 vaccine , also revealed that she prays and works on a handful of side projects between the hours of 3am and 7am – all before her actual work day begins.

Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 UK Tour 2021 – New Dates Tickets On Sale

Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 musical UK Tour has been rescheduled into the Spring of 2021 with Louise Redknapp playing Violet.

9 to 5 the musical tells the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy – three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the women manage to reform their office – or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit? Inspired by the cult film this hilarious new 9 to 5 Tour production is about teaming up, standing up and taking care of business!

Dolly Parton said today “I am beyond thrilled to the response from across the pond to 9 to 5 The Musical.  The overwhelmingly positive fan reaction to this universal story tickles every rhinestone on my body! I can’t wait for more people throughout the UK and Ireland to enjoy it and sing along”. 

The 9 to 5 UK Tour features a book by Patricia Resnick, the legendary film’s original screenwriter, and an original Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated score by multi-Grammy Award winner, country legend and pop icon Dolly Parton.

CASTING UPDATE Fresh from dazzling in the West End run of the show, Louise Redknapp will reprise her role as ‘Violet Newstead’ in the forthcoming UK tour of Dolly Parton’s smash-hit 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL.

Joining Louise Redknapp will be Vivian Panka making her professional UK stage debut as ‘Judy Bernly’, Stephanie Chandos (9 to 5 The Musical – previously covering the role of ‘Doralee’, Hairspray and We Will Rock You,) as ‘Doralee Rhodes’, Sean Needham (Kinky Boots, Mamma Mia!, Wicked and Buddy) as ‘Franklin Hart Jr.’ – a role he played on many occasions in both the West End and on tour,  Julia J. Nagle (American in Paris, Aspects of Love, Dirty Dancing) as ‘Roz Keith’ and Russell Dickson (Evita) as ‘Joe’.

The cast is completed by returning ensemble cast members Alexander Bartles, Sierra Brewerton, Demmileigh Foster, Ross Lee Fowkes, Jon Reynolds, Kirsty Anne Shaw, Ricardo Spriggs, Grace Walker, Emily Woodford, and Richard Taylor Woods.  They are joined by Rebekah Bryant, Emily Bull, Sonny Grieveson, Callum Henderson, Joshua Lear, Sarah-Marie Maxwell and Clayton Rosa.

CREATIVE TEAM 9 to 5 the musical is written by Patricia Resnick, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. I love your music. Me and my grandparents have a very bittersweet memories of dressing up like you and Kenny Rogers grandma made me a dress it was blue and it had big old fake boobs cuz I was 14 and I didn't have any of my own but I sure do know LOL but they put me in the lip sync contest and I won first place. lol . They passed away and my buried in an urn on top of my grandpa's grave they were so close it was unreal. They met you a lot they went out to Dollywood. And a few concerts too. But they passed and now every time I listen to your music I cry and when I go to the cemetery I played their favorite song by you islands in the stream. I really hope I'm lucky enough to meet you too one day or at least see you in concert. And they raised me and they were the best people in the world they were good honest good art of people they were my mom and dad that I never had

We need more Dolly Parton concerts in Boston or New York or Connecticut or somewhere around these states. We need more of her spiritual and beautiful voice and story telling. We have never seen such a great uplifting concert like hers before. No one can touch her and we need a few more concerts here in these parts. Dying and starving for another Dolly Parton concert! To get us going while Dolly is resting and gearing up for another concert , if anyone can make a suggestion for another singer who comes a little close to the awesomeness of Dolly, let me know. We will see the concert and will need to hold us over until Dolly gets on the road again for more concerts.

Pitbull announces Party After Dark concert tour: T-Pain, Lil Jon to join as special guests

Dale! Mr. Worldwide is hitting the road once again.

Latin rap star Pitbull is set to deliver a mix of his career-spanning hits on the upcoming Party After Dark Tour. The U.S. trek follows numerous successful solo tours for the "Give Me Everything" rapper, including the triple-headlining Trilogy Tour with Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin .

Produced by Live Nation, the 26-city tour kicks off on Aug. 21 in Bristow, Virginia, making stops across the U.S. before wrapping in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Oct. 5.  Fellow rappers T-Pain and Lil Jon will serve as a special guests on the tour.

The Grammy-winning Pitbull is known for a slew of hit singles , including "Fireball," "Timber" with Kesha , "Hotel Room Service," "Give Me Everything" with Afrojack and Ne-Yo and "Time of Our Lives" with Ne-Yo.

T-Pain, known for singles like "Bartender," "Buy U a Drank" and "Booty Wurk" is popular for his use of auto-tune pitch with electronic-style vocal performances. His most recent album, "On Top of The Covers," was released in 2023.

Lil Jon will join the pair on two tour dates, in Ridgefield, Washington and Chula Vista, California. The rapper and DJ is known for the tracks "Turn Down For What," "Shots," "Get Low" and "Yeah!" with Usher and Ludacris. He was most recently featured on the Pitbull track "Jumpin" in 2023.

After 18 successful seasons of her Dixie Stampede in Myrtle Beach, SC, Dolly and her creative team set out on a swashbuckling adventure to transform the entire property into a pirate-themed experience called Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show.

The show is based on the spirit of Blackbeard and his buccaneers sailing the coast of the Carolinas with the Crimson and Sapphire pirate crews battling for the bounty on two full size pirates ships docked in a 15ft deep indoor lagoon!

“I’m so excited about this new show,” Dolly said. “I think Pirates Voyage will take our guests breath away! The competition and action between the pirates is incredible.”

In addition to starring in the show as a mermaid, Dolly also collaborated with Mark Bryner to write the musical score!

“It was kind of like writing ‘9 to 5 The Musical.’ I had never done anything like that either. I love having a challenge.”
