Federal Reserve Bank Houston

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch is the second largest currency vault in the country, with a bold building designed by architect Michael Graves. Its interior exhibit space covers the history of U.S. currency, economics and the Federal Reserve banks, and the history and economic growth of Houston. Working closely with the staff at the Federal Reserve, we redesigned large-scale exhibit panels that provide insight into the history and role of the Federal Reserve.

Overview: The Houston Economics Club (THEC) is an active and dynamic organization devoted to furthering the knowledge, understanding and awareness of economics and related subjects throughout the Greater Houston Community. We are represented by more than 190 members, who are affiliated with approximately 130 businesses and other organizations in the region. The club membership is a broad cross section of  economists, analysts, researchers, businessmen, businesswomen, entrepreneurs and academics. Join THEC today via this Eventbrite link.

Events: The highlight of THEC’s program is our monthly luncheon series. During our program year – August to June— we invite a prominent speaker to share their insights on current economic events. We meet at the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Meetings start with networking and a light lunch, followed by the speaker’s presentation and a brief Q&A. Social and networking events for the membership also also held several times a year. See our upcoming events.

History: THEC was chartered November 13, 1967, as the National Association of Business Economists—Houston Chapter. The organization changed its name to The Houston Economics Club on November 1, 2006, to reflect the organization’s new mission—serving not just economists but all individuals who seek a better understanding of economic trends in order to make better decisions.

Mission Statement: The mission of The Houston Economics Club is to:

  • Provide for a nonprofit, educational organization that offers a forum for economists and other interested individuals to discuss economics, economic policy and business trends.
  • Stimulate discussion and research in matters of public policy as it pertains to economic performance of business, communities and the nation as a whole.
