Frontier Airlines Modifies Service Animal Policy

Airline will no longer carry emotional support animals following new rules issued by department of transportation.

DENVER – Jan. 11, 2021 – Frontier Airlines has announced that effective January 11, 2021 the airline will no longer accept reservations for emotional support animals on any Frontier flight in line with new regulations recently issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). For all reservations booked on or after January 11, 2021 and for all flights departing on or after February 1, 2021, Frontier will only transport service dogs specifically trained to support a qualified individual with a disability.

The DOT’s recent rules change came following numerous concerns raised by the airline industry, disabilities rights groups, customers and other stakeholders regarding behavioral, safety and health-related issues tied to emotional support animals.

Additional information on Frontier Airlines’ new Service Animal Policy is below:

  • Customers traveling with a service dog must complete and submit the DOT’s Service Animal Air Transportation Form, attesting to the dog’s health, behavior, and training. For reservations booked more than 48 hours prior to travel, customers must submit the completed form no later than 48 hours prior to travel. For reservations booked less than 48 hours prior to travel, customers must submit the completed form in person to a Customer Service Agent upon arrival at the airport.
  • For service animals booked prior to January 11, 2021, for travel through January 31, 2021, Frontier will transport dogs, cats, and miniature horses that have received training (including as a psychiatric service animal) to assist a qualified individual with a disability.
  • Under the new policy, the maximum number of service animals traveling with a single passenger with a disability is two.
  • A trained service animal that engages in disruptive behavior or poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others may be denied boarding.
  • Animals who do not qualify as trained service animals may still be eligible to travel for a fee in accordance with our   Pet Policy .

Full details on Frontier Airlines’ new Service Animal Policy may be found here along with the required forms for travel.

Frontier Airlines Pet Policies

Frontier Airlines pet policy  requires relatively little of the pet owner compared to other airlines. Instead, Frontier puts the onus on pet owners to find and complete required documentation for the state or country they plan to visit. Frontier does not require a health certificate for flights within the U.S., but you are responsible for complying with the state requirements of your destination.

Although Frontier accepts a range of on-board pets, these animals are only allowed to travel in the cabin. Frontier pet policy does not allow animals to fly as checked baggage or as air cargo. However, you do need to check in your pet and carry-on pet kennel at the ticketing counter. The carry-on pet kennel must fit under the seat in front of you. Read on to find out what else you need to know about Frontier Airline pet policies.

…HAVE EVERYTHING?

  • Flying with Pets in the Cabin :  Frontier allows dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals to travel in the cabin. However, the size of your pet can be a limitation because pets are restricted to the cabin. Be sure to learn about all the pet and carrier requirements that apply to Frontier Airline flights before finalizing your travel plans.   You are responsible for paying a one-way, directional charge during booking.
  • Service Animal Policies :  Frontier also welcomes certified service animals and passengers with disabilities who travel with an assistance animal at their side. Frontier does not allow emotional support animals to travel as service animals. Find more information about the airline’s service animal policies. To determine if your dog qualifies to be certified as a Psychiatric Service Dog and can be accepted as such on Frontier Airline, you can visit Pettable’s PSD service .

Pets can’t be booked online, but the same low fares with no ticketing fee are offered through Frontier Reservations.

When traveling with a pet, you are responsible for making arrangements and assuming full responsibility for complying with any entry requirements (laws, customs and other governmental regulations) of the country, state or territory to which the pet is being transported. • Hepatitis, PIP, and leptospirosis vaccinations are recommended.
  • Both a rabies vaccination and a health certificate are required for travel to/from Canada.

Frontier Airlines allows no more than one pet container per passenger . The pet container always counts as either your personal item or carry-on bag . If the pet is taken in place of your personal item, the Carry-on Fee may apply if you also take a carry-on bag.

Your pet must remain in the pet container at all times, so you must be able to soothe your pet without taking him/her out from the pet container. Frontier Airlines recommends that you give your pet food or water within 4 hours of departure.

The pet container must be large enough for your pet to turn around, stand, and lie down in a natural position and must fit underneath the seat in front of you. Seat restrictions apply depending on the aircraft type because certain seats cannot accommodate your pet container. Frontier Airlines only accepts pet containers with the following maximum dimensions : 18” length x 14″ width x 8″ height .

Frontier Airlines' pet policy: Here’s how to fly with your pet on Frontier

Dog with an indifferent attitude on the side of a travel bag

Are you looking to take an animal besides a pet dog or cat with you on your next vacation? If so, you are in luck: Frontier Airlines allows more types of pets to fly in the cabin than many other airlines.

The Frontier pet policy extends to domesticated dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and even small household birds. But before you take your pet to the airport, there's some important information you'll want to be aware of so your furry or feathery family member is allowed on the airplane with you.

Here's everything you need to know when flying with your pet on Frontier Airlines.

Frontier Airlines' pet policy

frontier travel with dog

According to the Frontier pet policy, you can bring domesticated dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters or small household birds in the cabin when flying within the United States. All dogs and cats must be at least 8 weeks old to fly.

Unfortunately, Frontier Airlines doesn't allow other types of pets to fly. In particular, you can't bring large birds (including parrots, macaws, cockatoos and birds of prey), rodents, beavers, ferrets, reptiles, amphibians, spiders and insects with you when flying Frontier.

And the Frontier Airlines pet policy no longer allows transporting any pets as cargo. So, the only way to bring a pet with you on Frontier is in the cabin in a pet carrier. If you're flying with a larger pet, you'll need to consider a different airline.

For domestic travel, Frontier Airlines doesn't require a health certificate. But you'll want to check with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to see if your destination state requires specific documentation.

frontier travel with dog

For those looking to fly internationally with their pet, Frontier only allows cats and dogs to fly internationally. And currently, the only international destinations you can fly Frontier to or from with your pet are the Dominican Republic and Mexico. For these flights, you'll need a health certificate for your pet. You'll also want to check with the particular country to see if there are any vaccination requirements in addition to those listed on the Frontier website . As of writing, you'll need a health certificate dated within a certain number of days for travel to or from these destinations:

  • Within 30 days of entry into Puerto Rico.
  • Within 10 days of entry into the U.S.
  • Within 15 days of entry into the Dominican Republic.
  • Within five days of entry into Mexico.

When flying with an approved pet on Frontier, you may not sit in Row 1 or an exit row. All pets must remain in their pet carrier at all times, even if your pet is getting restless. Frontier Airlines also requests that your pet is not fed any food or water while on the aircraft. Pets must remain harmless and odorless. And, your pet shouldn't be disruptive or require any extra attention on board.

Booking your pet on a Frontier Airlines flight

Frontier Airlines charges a fee of $99 one-way to bring your pet in the cabin with you. Although there's no cap on the number of pets allowed in the cabin, each passenger is allowed a maximum of one pet. On Frontier's website, you can add your pet to your reservation when booking a flight. Or, you can call Frontier to add your pet to your reservation at a later time.

Keep in mind that if you're flying with one of Frontier's codeshare partners, you won't be able to bring your pet.

Frontier Airlines' pet carrier requirements

frontier travel with dog

Pet carriers brought onto a Frontier Airlines flight must be able to fit under the seat in front of you. But, the Frontier pet policy states that pet carriers must be no larger than 18 inches long by 14 inches wide by 8 inches tall. If your pet carrier fits within these dimensions, but you happen to be seated in a seat that can't fit the pet carrier, Frontier will assign you a new seat that will fit your pet.

If you want to bring your pet on board Frontier, the pet must be able to stand, turn around and lie down in a natural position while in the pet carrier. So, make sure to consider this when choosing an onboard pet carrier . And although not a requirement, Frontier recommends a soft-sided carrier.

Under Frontier's baggage policy , you can bring either another personal item or a full-size carry-on bag in addition to a pet carrier. But, as always, Frontier will charge a fee if you bring a carry-on bag.

Bottom line

Bringing a pet aboard a Frontier flight extends to more than just cats and dogs. Passengers can bring various types of pets with them on board, although the main requirement is that the pet can fit into an approved pet carrier. As such, the Frontier dog policy prohibits large dogs due to their inability to fit comfortably into a carrier of the appropriate size.

Before you book a Frontier flight for your next vacation, you'll want to consider the pets you can — and cannot — bring with you on board.

Frontier Airlines allows small pets to travel in the cabin on flights within the USA. This includes domesticated dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and small household birds. However, only dogs and cats are allowed on international flights to and from the Dominican Republic and Mexico. A one-way fee of $99 is charged for each pet in the cabin, and they must remain in their travel container at all times.

If you're planning to fly with your furry friend, there are a few things you should know about Frontier Airlines' pet policy. The airline welcomes small pets in the cabin, but there are specific requirements that must be met for a smooth journey.

Firstly, it's important to note that only certain types of pets are permitted. Frontier Airlines allows domesticated dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and small household birds to travel in the cabin on flights within the United States. This means that if you have a larger pet, such as a bird of prey, rodent, reptile, or even a small mammal like a ferret, they will not be allowed to fly with you.

Now, let's talk about the age requirement. Domesticated dogs and cats must be at least 8 weeks old to fly with Frontier Airlines. This ensures that your furry companion is old enough to handle the stress of air travel and that they have received the necessary vaccinations and health checks. It is always a good idea to consult your veterinarian before booking to ensure your pet is healthy and ready for travel.

When it comes to the travel container for your pet, there are specific guidelines to follow. The container must be large enough for your pet to stand up, turn around, and lie down in a natural position comfortably. Additionally, it must fit underneath the seat in front of you. Frontier Airlines recommends a soft-sided carrier, and the maximum dimensions for the container are 18" in length, 14" in width, and 8" in height. Make sure to measure your pet and choose a carrier that adheres to these guidelines.

It's also important to note that you will need to pay a fee for bringing your pet on board. Frontier Airlines charges a one-way, directional charge, which may be paid during booking or at check-in. This fee varies depending on the airline and your specific itinerary. Additionally, you are allowed to bring either a personal item or a carry-on bag in addition to your pet and their travel container. However, an extra fee will apply if you choose to bring a carry-on bag.

To ensure a smooth travel experience, it is recommended that you do not feed your pet within four hours of departure. This will help prevent any accidents during the flight and reduce potential discomfort for your furry friend. Additionally, make sure to check the regulations and requirements of your destination, as some states and countries may have specific health and vaccination requirements for incoming animals.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your domesticated dog or cat, who is at least 8 weeks old, can safely and comfortably fly with you on Frontier Airlines.

When it comes to travelling with pets, Frontier Airlines is a great option. The airline allows small pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and small household birds, to travel in the cabin on flights within the USA. This means your furry friend can stay by your side throughout the flight.

Now, let's get into the details of Frontier Airlines' pet policy and what you need to know about the fees involved. Firstly, it's important to note that Frontier Airlines charges a fee for bringing your pet on board. Specifically, they charge a one-way fee of $99 to bring your pet in the cabin with you. This fee applies to each flight, so if you're travelling round trip, you'll need to pay $99 for each direction. This fee is in line with industry standards and is quite reasonable compared to other airlines.

When booking your flight, you can add your pet to your reservation on Frontier's website or by calling their customer service. It's important to do this in advance to ensure your pet's spot on board. Each passenger is allowed a maximum of one pet, and your pet must remain in its carrier at all times during the flight.

Now, let's talk about the carrier requirements. Your pet's carrier must be no larger than 18 inches long, 14 inches wide, and 8 inches tall. It should be large enough for your pet to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably. Frontier Airlines recommends using a soft-sided carrier, and your pet's carrier must fit under the seat in front of you. If your assigned seat doesn't have enough space for the carrier, Frontier will work with you to find a suitable seat assignment with adequate space.

In addition to the pet carrier, you are allowed to bring either a personal item or a full-size carry-on bag. However, as per Frontier's baggage policy, an additional fee will apply if you choose to bring a carry-on bag. It's also important to note that Frontier Airlines does not allow pets to be checked as baggage or transported as cargo.

When travelling with your pet, there are a few other important considerations. Firstly, your pet should not be fed any food or water while on the aircraft. Additionally, your pet should remain harmless, odourless, and well-behaved throughout the flight. It should not be disruptive or require any extra attention.

By following these guidelines and being mindful of the fees and carrier requirements, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience for both you and your furry companion on Frontier Airlines.

How to Determine if You Need to Pay for e-Travel to the Philippines

When flying with Frontier Airlines, you won't need a health certificate for your pet if you're travelling within the US. However, you may need one for the specific state you're landing in, so it's worth checking with your veterinarian or the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Veterinary Services.

A health certificate is a document signed by an accredited veterinarian, confirming that your pet is free of infectious diseases and satisfies all import requirements of the state you're travelling to. This certificate is required by some states to ensure the safety of other animals and people.

Although not required by Frontier Airlines for domestic travel, you will need to obtain a health certificate for your pet if you're travelling internationally. This certificate must be dated within a certain number of days for travel to or from your destination. For example, within 30 days of entry into Puerto Rico, within 10 days of entry into the US, within 15 days of entry into the Dominican Republic, within 14 days of entry into Costa Rica, and within 5 days of entry into Mexico.

In addition to the health certificate, some countries may have specific vaccination requirements. For instance, Mexico and the Dominican Republic require a statement on the health certificate that confirms your pet is free from parasites and has been treated for parasite prevention.

It's important to plan ahead when travelling with your pet, as obtaining the necessary documentation and certificates can take time. Be sure to research the specific requirements of your destination state or country, and consult with your veterinarian to ensure your pet has all the necessary health certificates and vaccinations before your trip.

Travel from Philadelphia to Florida: Everything You Need to Know

When travelling with pets on Frontier Airlines, it is important to ensure that your pet remains harmless, not disruptive, odourless, and requires no attention during the flight. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers and crew on board.

Harmlessness is a key consideration when bringing a pet on board an aircraft. Your pet should not exhibit any aggressive behaviour or pose a threat to other passengers or crew members. It should be well-behaved and comfortable with being in close proximity to other people. If your pet becomes disruptive during the flight, it is your responsibility to soothe and calm them without removing them from their travel container.

Odourlessness is another important factor. To maintain a pleasant environment for all passengers, your pet should be clean and odour-free. This includes ensuring that your pet's travel container is also free from any strong or unpleasant odours.

Additionally, your pet should not require any attention during the flight. This means that they should be able to remain calm and comfortable without needing constant handling or interaction. It is important to note that food and water should not be provided to your pet during the flight, as the stress of travelling and the motion of the aircraft could make them uncomfortable.

To ensure your pet meets these requirements, it is recommended that they have adequate space to stand, turn around, and lie down in a natural position within their travel container. The container should also fit comfortably under the seat in front of you. Frontier Airlines recommends using a soft-sided carrier for your pet.

By following these guidelines, you can help ensure that your pet has a safe and comfortable journey while also maintaining a pleasant and stress-free environment for your fellow passengers.

Understanding the Concept of a Travel Document Identification Number

When flying with a pet on Frontier Airlines, it's important to ensure that your pet's travel container meets the specified requirements for a comfortable and safe journey. One of the key requirements is that the travel container must be adequately sized for your pet. It should be large enough for your furry friend to stand, turn around, and lie down in a natural and comfortable position. This means that your pet should be able to move around with ease and not feel cramped or restricted during the flight.

To ensure your pet's comfort, it is recommended to choose a container that is slightly larger than their exact measurements. This will allow them to stretch out and relax. When measuring your pet, start by measuring the distance from the front of their chest to their rear, which will give you their length. For their height, measure from the top of their shoulder blade to the ground while they are standing. Compare these measurements to the interior dimensions of the carrier. It is best to choose a carrier that is slightly bigger than your pet's measurements to ensure their comfort.

The maximum dimensions for a pet container on Frontier Airlines are 18 inches in length, 14 inches in width, and 8 inches in height. It is important to select a container that fits within these dimensions, as it needs to fit underneath the seat in front of you. However, if your pet carrier fits within these dimensions but doesn't fit under the seat, Frontier Airlines will work with you to find a suitable seat assignment with enough space.

While it is crucial for the carrier to be large enough, it is also important to ensure it is not too big. The container should be snug enough to provide a sense of security and comfort for your pet. A snug fit will also help prevent your pet from sliding around during the flight, reducing the risk of injury. Additionally, a snug fit will make it easier for you to manoeuvre the carrier through the airport and store it under the seat during the flight.

When choosing a travel container for your pet, Frontier Airlines recommends using a soft-sided carrier. Soft-sided carriers can be slightly larger than the maximum dimensions and still fit under the seat due to their flexibility. They are also generally more comfortable for your pet and can provide a cozier space for them to relax. However, it is important to ensure that the soft-sided carrier has a sturdy base and adequate ventilation for your pet's comfort and safety.

Pets travelling in the cabin

Booking flights for pet in cabin.

  • We recommend booking your journey well in advance.
  • You can purchase transportation for your small pet online at the same time when booking your flights. If there is availability on your flight, you will see the Pet in cabin option in the Travel extras step.
  • If you have already made a booking and decide to take your pet with you, you can add your pet to your booking and pay the fee online via Manage booking .
  • If you are flying in Business Class on short-haul flights within Europe, please contact our customer service to add transportation for your pet.
  • Please note that pets cannot travel in Business Class on our long-haul flights, since there is not enough room under the long-haul Business Class seats.
  • The maximum number of pet carriers per customer is one. Usually, we can accept two customers with pets in cabin per flight. However, the aircraft type, weather in the destination or allergic passengers on the flight may limit the number of pets.
  • Different airlines have different policies for travelling with pets. If your ticket includes flights operated by other airlines, please check also their policies as each operating airline will need to confirm the pet booking on their flight sector.

Pet carrier instructions and sizes

  • Please choose an IATA-approved pet carrier or box with a solid bottom and appropriate ventilation. A soft pet carrier should be waterproof and have a breathable mesh at the front. Other types of soft bags may not be used for transporting pets.
  • Your pet must stay in their securely closed carrier for the entire duration of the flight, starting at the departure gate. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers.
  • The pet must be able to stand straight and lie down comfortably also when the bag is closed. If we notice during check-in that the pet carrier is too small, we cannot accept your pet on the flight.
  • A soft pet carrier is the most convenient choice for cats, dogs and rabbits, as it is flexible enough to fit under the seat in front of you.
  • In one pet carrier or box, you can carry a maximum of two pets, as long as the total weight does not exceed 8kg (17lb).

Maximum pet carrier sizes (length x width x height)

Prepare for the journey in the cabin with your pet.

  • Your pet needs to travel in its own pet carrier or box that is placed under the seat in front of you. The pet needs to stay in the carrier or box throughout the journey from the departure gate to the arrival terminal at your destination.
  • When travelling with your pet, you will board the flight normally with the group mentioned in your boarding pass.
  • Flying can be an exciting experience for pets. It is good to offer them food and water well in advance before the flight. However, feeding the pet just before the flight is not recommended, since flying can cause nausea for animals. You can also bring a diaper for your pet just in case. Most pets fall asleep on the aircraft. A familiar blanket often calms a restless pet.
  • Customers with pets are usually seated in the rear of the aircraft.

Check-in and security control for pets in cabin

  • When travelling with your pet, you can use the check-in desk at the airport. Online check-in is not possible when travelling with a pet.
  • When you arrive at the check-in desk, we will weigh your pet and check that the pet carrier or box fulfils the IATA (International Air Transport Association) requirements and is big enough for your pet. We will also go through all the necessary documents with you, including, for example, the pet passport, export/import/transfer permits and health and vaccination certificates.
  • After completing the check-in and getting your boarding pass, you can take the pet through the security control.

Pets travelling in the hold of the aircraft

Booking flights for pet in hold.

  • Please make your flight booking online at least 7 days before the flight and then inform us about your pet without any delay (within 24h) via our chat service. Please, have at hand the dimensions of the pet carrier, as well as the total weight of the pet and the carrier. You will also get a payment link via the chat.
  • We do our best to confirm your pet booking within 2 days of making the reservation. For a pet travelling in the hold on flights to or from the USA, we aim to confirm the booking at the latest 2 weeks before your departure. If we cannot accept your pet for the flights requested, you can get a refund of your ticket.
  • The minimum transfer time between flights when travelling with a pet in the hold is 3 hours. Please keep this in mind when making your booking.
  • We can usually accept two pets in the hold on Finnair-operated flights, and one pet in the hold for Norra-operated flights. However, the aircraft type, weather in the destination or allergic passengers on the flight may limit the number of pets.
  • It is not possible to travel with a pet in hold if your ticket includes flights operated by other airlines than Finnair or Norra.
  • Please note that pets travelling in the aircraft hold don’t transfer automatically to connecting flights at Helsinki Airport. When you have a connecting flight from Helsinki onwards, make sure you and your pet have all the required documents to enter Finland. You must collect your pet in the airport arrivals hall and check it in for your connecting flight in the airport departure hall.

Pet container instructions and sizes

  • Please choose a transportation container that is meant for animal transportation. Please check IATA's (International Air Transport Association) regulations for transportation containers .
  • The transportation container needs to be large enough to allow your pet to stand up, lie down and turn around comfortably. Note that if we notice during check-in that the pet carrier is too small, we cannot accept your pet on the flight.
  • A pet weighing over 40kg (88lb) must be transported in a strong transportation box. Finnair does not sell or rent transportation containers.
  • In one container, you can transport two adult pets of comparable size or a maximum of three puppies that are not older than six months and are from the same litter. When transporting several pets in one container, the maximum weight for each pet is 14kg (30lb). Please note that some countries might have restrictions for transporting more than one pet in one transportation container.

Maximum pet container sizes (length x width x height)

The allowed maximum size of the transportation container depends on the aircraft type you are travelling on. You can check the aircraft type of your flight when making the reservation on our website or later through Manage booking or Finnair app.

Please note that the aircraft type on our European flights might change after you have made your reservation. Our customer service is happy to help you if you have any further questions or concerns regarding this.

Prepare for your journey with your pet travelling in the hold

  • The section in the hold in which pets are carried has air-conditioning and is heated (being always above +10° Celsius). Due to fire safety requirements, there are no lights in the hold.
  • Please note that the hold cannot be accessed during the flight.
  • Flying and travelling in the hold can be an exciting experience for pets. It is recommended to familiarise the pet with the container already in advance. Most animals relax and sleep in the dark. A familiar blanket may help your pet to calm down in the transportation container.
  • Please reserve some water for your dog in the carrier, especially on longer flights. It’s a good idea to teach the dog to use, for example, a sipper water bottle, as traditional water cups may leak during transportation.
  • Flying can cause nausea for some pets, so it is recommended to avoid feeding the pet just before the flight. IATA discourages the use of sedatives and tranquillisers for animals during transport.
  • After the flight, you will meet your pet in the arrival hall at the airport. Please show our agent the baggage receipt given to you at check-in. If you need any assistance, our ground crew at the airport arrival services will be happy to help you.

Check-in and security control for pets in hold

  • After completing the check-in and getting your boarding pass, our staff will take care of your pet and take it through the security control.
  • To avoid keeping your pet in the hold of the aircraft any longer than necessary, we will take your pet there once all departure preparations have been done and the aircraft is ready to take off.

Documents, vaccination and quarantines

Regulations regarding transporting pets and the required documents, vaccinations and quarantine times vary by country. We recommend that you consult the authorities of the country of departure and destination already before booking your flights.

A pet passport is mandatory for all cats, dogs and ferrets travelling between EU countries. You can purchase a pet passport from your vet. Further information about transporting pets to/from Finland is available on the Finnish Food Authority’s website .

If you are travelling with a puppy, it needs to be at least eight weeks old, weaned from its mother and able to eat on its own.

Assistance dogs

If you are travelling with an assistance or service dog, such as guide dog or hearing dog, please use the special assistance form to inform us at least 48 hours before departure. Find more information about travelling with an assistance dog .

Shipping pets as cargo

You can ship your pet as cargo with Finnair Cargo. To book the transportation, please contact a forwarding company.

If your pet is shipped as cargo, you will need to take the pet to a cargo terminal and pick it up from the cargo terminal at the destination. The collected fee depends on the size and weight of your pet and its container, among other things.

For more information about shipping pets as cargo, visit the Finnair Cargo website .

Pet transportation fees

You will need to pay a fee for transporting pets, with the exception of guide dogs and duty dogs . The fee needs to be paid in advance while booking your flights or later via Manage booking . You can get the payment link for pets travelling in the hold via our chat service.

Below you can find pet transportation fees for Finnair flights (those operated by Finnair and bearing a Finnair flight number). The fees are collected per pet carrier or container.

Frontier's Unlimited Flight Pass for Fall Is Under $300 Right Now — Snag It Before the Price Goes Up

The airline’s GoWild All-You-Can-Fly Fall and Winter Pass is now on sale for just $299 and is typically $399.

Frontier Airlines is discounting its unlimited flight passes for fall and winter, making it easier to plan an epic getaway (or a few).

The airline’s GoWild All-You-Can-Fly Fall and Winter Pass is now on sale for just $299, the airline posted on its site. The pass offers unlimited access to all of Frontier’s domestic and international destinations from Sept. 1 through Feb 28, 2025.

Typically, the fall and winter pass costs $399.

“FALL in love with travel!” Frontier wrote on X as part of the promotion. “Frontier's GoWild All-You-Can-Fly Fall and Winter Pass is on sale now for a limited time… Don't leaf this deal behind!”

To use the pass, travelers must book at the last minute and will get confirmed bookings the day before domestic flights and up to 10 days before international flights. New this year, travelers can search for a flight earlier and choose “GoWild!” when it’s available, but an early booking charge may apply.

Also new this year, passengers can earn miles on all GoWild! eligible purchases and can access their elite status for perks like free bags.

There are several blackout dates when the pass cannot be used, including Sept. 2, Oct. 10, Oct. 11, Oct. 13, Oct. 14, Nov. 23, Nov. 27, Nov. 30, Dec. 1, Dec. 2, Dec. 21 to 24, Dec. 26 to 31, Jan. 1, Jan. 4, Jan. 5, Jan. 16, Jan. 17, Jan. 20, Feb. 13, Feb. 14, and Feb. 17.

Frontier first launched the unlimited GoWild! pass in 2022. Now, travelers can purchase several versions of the pass, including an annual pass for $599, a summer pass for $499, and a monthly pass for $149.

The airline is considered an ultra-low cost carrier and charges passengers for all extras from seat assignments to baggage allowance. However, Frontier has recently started exploring more luxury offerings, including introducing a new economic business class , called BizFare, and adding an “ UpFront Plus” option , which allows travelers to purchase seats in the first two rows with a blocked middle seat.

Earlier this year, Frontier also eliminated nearly all change and cancellation fees .

Hurricane watch issued for Beryl in Texas

Editor's note: Read USA TODAY's live coverage of Beryl for Sunday, July 7, including the storm's track as it heads toward Texas.

Watches and warnings for flooding rainfall, storm surge and hurricane winds were in effect along much of the Texas coast on Saturday, as the National Hurricane Center watches to see whether Tropical Storm Beryl will become a hurricane again as it approaches the Texas coast on Monday.

In its 10 a.m. Central update on Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said a hurricane watch covers the Texas coast from the mouth of the Rio Grande north to San Luis Pass, south of Galveston. A tropical storm warning is in effect south of Baffin Bay to the Rio Grande. And the storm surge watch is in effect south of High Island, meaning almost the entire coast.

Beryl is forecast to approach Matagorda Bay the coast of Texas and northeastern Mexico on Monday as a Category 1 hurricane with 85-mph winds, but first it has to recover from its trip over the Yucatan Peninsula and the dry air and wind shear it has been fighting in the Gulf of Mexico. Almost the entire Texas coast lies within the hurricane center's potential forecast for the center of Beryl's path over the next five days.

On Saturday morning, Beryl had 60-mph winds and was about 460 miles Southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas, moving west-northwest.

The average forecast track error at 48 hour is about 70 miles, the hurricane center said on Saturday morning. Because of the angle of the storm's approach to Texas, that size margin of error can make a significant difference in where the biggest impacts occur.

Beryl is forecast to produce 5-10 inches of rainfall in Texas , with up to 15 inches in isolated locations, across portions of the coast and in eastern Texas beginning late Sunday through the middle of next week, the hurricane center said. The storm also is forecast to deliver a storm surge amounts of 2-5 feet along the coast and dangerous rip currents.

Residents in Texas should be familiar with their flood zones – as well as those who live in Louisiana – and should be closely monitoring the storm's progress, according to the hurricane center.

"All of South Texas should be preparing for a hurricane," Kirsten Snodgrass, a meteorologist in Corpus Christi wrote in a Friday morning forecast update.

Even though heat is a concern going into the weekend, for those that live in Beryl's potential path, now is the time to make sure preparations are complete, know your flood zone and check on your neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable, forecasters said.

It's important to know your risk , Michael Brennan, hurricane center director, told USA TODAY in March. It’s "knowing  if you live in a storm surge evacuation zone ."

What is a hurricane watch?

A watch means hurricane force winds above 74 mph are possible within 48 hours.

What is a hurricane warning?

A warning means hurricane force winds above 74 mph are expected within 36 hours.

What is a tropical storm warning?

A warning means tropical storm force winds of 39-73 mph are expected within 36 hours.

What is a tropical storm watch?

A watch means tropical storm force winds 39-73 mph are possible within 48 hours.

What's the forecast for Louisiana and Texas?

After ripping through the Caribbean , brushing Jamaica and making landfall along the Yucatan Peninsula, the storm's winds have weakened considerably, but the hurricane center's forecasters aren't quite sure what will happen once Beryl fully re-enters the Gulf of Mexico.

Its future wind strength depends on how much of its core remains intact, and its future path depends on how strong Beryl becomes and how it interacts with atmospheric systems over the southern United States. At 10 a.m. C.T. on Saturday, the forecast called for Beryl to gradually intensify over the Gulf, making landfall as a Category 1 hurricane with 85-mph winds on Monday.

Regardless of the path or intensity of the storm, life-threatening beach conditions are expected later today across much of the Gulf Coast and are forecast to continue through the weekend.

Track Beryl's forecast

Forecasters say it's important to monitor the storm's progress, but remember the hurricane center's forecast cone shows only the likely path of the center of the storm. Weather impacts could occur many miles away.

How to prepare your home

If you're in an area where high winds are possible with Hurricane Beryl, here are things you can do to get ready .

  • Secure loose items in your yard that could be blown over, such as lawn furniture, grills, bicycles, etc.
  • Check your emergency go-bag and medical supplies in case you must evacuate
  • Charge your phone
  • Fill up or charge your vehicle
  • Help your neighbors, especially if they're vulnerable.

What is storm surge?

Brennan has said water is one of the greatest dangers in a hurricane , including storm surge, intense rainfall and rip currents. Storm surge occurs when the winds of a hurricane push the water higher than normal high tides, raising the ocean level, and then big waves occur on top of that. It's one of the most destructive forces in a hurricane.

Preparing a kit

If you live in a low-lying area prone to flooding, you might be asked to evacuate and need to prepare an emergency "go bag" to take with you . As of Friday, the forecast called for up to 10 inches of rain in areas along the coast, with even higher amounts in isolated locations . A flash flood risk extends well east along the Gulf Coast into Louisiana by Tuesday.

Hurricane season is here: Here's how to put together your preparedness kit or "go bag"

Beryl's historic journey

Beryl was born as a tropical depression on June 28 and became a tropical storm later that evening. It broke records over the next several days for rapid intensification so early in hurricane season. It became a hurricane within 24 hours of formation. Within another 24 hours, its winds had increased 55 mph, reaching 130 mph, almost a Category 4 hurricane.

Hurricane Beryl: A history making path through the Caribbean

Beryl battered the Windward Islands along the eastern Caribbean, causing widespread destruction in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada , destroying or severely damaging more than 90% of the homes and buildings on at least three islands. After plowing through the islands, Beryl again re-strengthened, becoming a Category 5 storm , then reaching winds of 165 mph on the morning of July 2.

Politics latest: 'Emergency' prisons plan revealed - as government urged to decriminalise drug possession

The new government is expanding the early release scheme to ease pressure on prisons amid a lack of spaces - amid calls to go further and decriminalise drug posession.

We are signing off now after a big week in Westminster that saw Labour making its first moves as the new government, and the Conservatives trying to work out what their future in opposition looks like.

But don't worry, we will be back on Sunday morning to cover all the political news from the weekend and bring you the latest with Trevor Phillips.

See you then!

Friday marks the end of the first full week for hundreds of new MPs who came to Westminster after the general election.

But for some of the newbies, there was an even bigger task coming their way - being promoted to ministers.

Our political reporter Alix Culbertson takes at look at the new Labour politicians who have already found themselves on Sir Keir Starmer's frontbench.

Jess Phillips says there are "still things that I worry about" after the government confirmed it would be letting prisoners out of jail early to help with overcrowding.

The Labour MP and now minister in the Home Office tells Sky News' Electoral Dysfunction podcast that "by no means is any of this perfect" and the situation was a "terrible, terrible thing".

She adds: "It's still not something that you would ever want to be doing. And there are still things that I worry about."

But Ms Phillips defends the decision too, especially around the exclusion of domestic abusers and stalkers from the policy, saying it is "a shift from what it was... when the Tories were doing it".

She says: "You do what you can in the initial hours that you have to do it, and that isn't the end.

"We will now work on exactly how to make sure that as many possible safeguards can be put in place for potential victims whose perpetrators are being released."

The full episode of Electoral Dysfunction will be released here later this evening, so keep an eye on your feeds.

The victims' commissioner for England and Wales has welcomed the government's decision to exclude domestic abusers and stalkers from its new early release scheme for prisoners.

Baroness Newlove called the move a "welcome and necessary step, reflecting the concerns raised by victims and those who advocate for them".

In a statement, she said there needs to be "clear communication with victims" during the process to ensure the government has their trust, including informing them if release dates are brought forward and allowing them to request protection measures.

She demanded the probation service is "properly resourced to effectively manage licensing conditions and exclusion zones, which are vital for public safety and victim reassurance".

Baroness Newlove added: "Public safety must remain the top priority as these changes are implemented.

"We must acknowledge these exclusions have limitations and cannot address every potential risk."

The chief inspector of prisons is warning the move by the government to tackle overcrowding in jails will "inevitably lead to the early release of some risky offenders".

In a statement, Charlie Taylor welcomed the decision by Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood to release prisoners who had completed 40% of their sentences to free up space, saying the "recognition of the seriousness of the situation, and swift action to manage the prison populations to relieve the immediate strain many jails are under" was positive.

However, he added: "This latest measure will inevitably lead to the early release of some risky offenders, and will add to the workload of already stretched prison OMUs (offender management units) and probation services.

"How these men are prepared for release and how prisons and probation are supported in managing them will be vital."

Mr Taylor said his organisation will be "watching this very closely - as well as any plans that are developed once the immediate pressure is relieved that seek to make prisons places of genuine purpose, help people to break the cycle of reoffending and protect the public from future harm".

Former home secretary and likely Conservative leadership contender Suella Braverman has blasted the government in a somewhat odd way - namely for "picking up Tory ideas".

As we have just reported, Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced plans to release prisoners who have served 40% of their sentences to help alleviate overcrowding in jails, subject to some exemptions.

A similar plan was said to have been proposed by the now former justice secretary Alex Chalk last year, but was understood to have been blocked by Number 10 over fears of a backbench rebellion from Tory MPs.

Tweeting after the government announcement was made, Ms Braverman said: "I opposed this, both inside & outside government.

"With 40 MPs, I tabled amendments to the Sentencing Bill to stop the early release of criminals and put public safety first.

"We managed to stop the government doing it."

She added: "Labour is picking up Tory ideas and putting the public at risk."

Ms Braverman also claimed "everyone and his mother should run to be leader" of her party when the contest kicks off.

But she said all contenders have "got to start taking responsibility for what we did, and for the things we shamefully left undone - such as not building enough prisons".

The justice secretary has announced that the government will conduct a review into how the "crisis" in prisons was "allowed to happen".

Shabana Mahmood explained: "It will look at how and why necessary decisions were not taken at critical moments. And the lessons that must be learned by future governments, from the failures of the last."

She added: "The legacy of those who last occupied 10 Downing Street is prisons in crisis, moments from catastrophic disaster.

"Our legacy will be different.

"A prisons system brought under control. A probation service that keeps the public safe. Enough prison places to meet our needs. And prisons that break the cycle of reoffending - and create better citizens, not better criminals."

The justice secretary has set out what would happen if the government does not implement these "emergency measures" to reduce the prison population.

Shabana Mahmood said: "Soon, the courts would grind to a halt, unable to hold trials.

"The police would have to stop carrying out arrests. With officers unable to act, criminals could do whatever they want, without consequence.

"We could see looters running amok, smashing in windows, robbing shops and setting neighbourhoods alight.

"In short, if we fail to act now, we face the collapse of the criminal justice system. And a total breakdown of law and order."

She declared this "the legacy of the last Conservative government" and the consequences of their "failure" to address the issue.

The new justice secretary has placed the blame for the "crisis" in prisons firmly at the door of the previous government.

Shabana Mahmood said of the Conservative Party: "Time and again, they ducked the difficult decisions that could have addressed this challenge.

"Instead, they kept the public in the dark about the state they had left this country in. They were too weak to heed the warning signs that were flashing. They chose instead to put the country at risk."

There have been reports that her predecessor, Alex Chalk, tried to implement the emergency measures she is announcing today in order to ease the crisis, but former PM Rishi Sunak blocked it.

"But, instead of taking responsibility, she said, "Rishi Sunak called an election. He tried to hoodwink the electorate. And he was punished at the ballot box."

Echoing language used to describe the people who appeased the Nazis in the 1930s, Ms Mahmood said: "Those responsible – Sunak and his gang in No 10 – should go down in history as the guilty men.

"The guilty men who put their political careers ahead of the safety and security of our country. It was the most disgraceful dereliction of duty I have ever known."

By Mollie Malone, news correspondent

These measures from the justice secretary will be seen among the prison and probation sector as a proper attempt to reset and alleviate the immediate prisons crisis (see previous post).

But it doesn’t solve everything. Far from it.

The justice secretary admits today that the core announcement to lower the automatic release point from 50% to 40% is in itself an emergency measure.

At the moment, we are lurching from one emergency measure to the next.

There are safeguards in place that didn't exist under the previous controversial scheme launched by the Conservative government in October - allowing eligible offenders to be released up to 70 days before the end of their sentence.

Those safeguards might help offset some fears expressed by victims groups.

But it certainly doesn't offer a long term solution.

"Although it will be a law, it still does not resolve how we use prison in the long term," said one prison source.

"If we carry on with court backlogs and send more people to prison, we will be in the same position all over again," they said.

The government are committing to building more prison places.

But their prisons minister James Timpson fundamentally disagrees with that approach and thinks a third of people that are in prison shouldn't be there

There are lots of questions yet to answer about what meaningful reform looks like.
