imagine dragons tour 2023 uk

With 46 million albums and 55 million songs sold globally, as well as 74 billion combined streams, Imagine Dragons remains one of the best-selling rock bands, reinventing the genre with their enormous breakout success across the 2010s. Billboard’s Top 3 rock songs of the decade belonged to the band –“Believer,” “Thunder” and “Radioactive.” Formed in 2009, Imagine Dragons developed a grassroots following with a series of independently released EPs before making their major label debut on KIDinaKORNER/Interscope with the 2012 EP Continued Silence. Night Visions, their 2012 full-length debut, entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2 and the lead-off track “Radioactive” topped Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs chart, won a GRAMMY for Best Rock Performance, and achieved RIAA  Diamond status. 2015’s Smoke + Mirrors debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. EVOLVE, which followed in 2017, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album and unleashed three No. 1 Alternative radio hits: “Believer,” the GRAMMY-nominated “Thunder” and “Whatever It Takes.” All three songs were also top 5 hits at Top 40 radio, with “Thunder” rising to the No. 1 spot. The band’s fourth album, ORIGINS, debuted atop Billboard’s Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts and lead single "Natural" spent nine weeks at No. 1 at alternative radio and set the current record for all-time “most spins in a week” at the format.

Their highly anticipated fifth studio album Mercury –Act 1was released on September 3, 2021. Teaming up with esteemed producer Rick Rubin and with its title drawing inspiration from the word “mercurial,” Mercury –Act 1is a candid  album  that  abandons  metaphorically  charged  lyrics  and  instead  embraces  emotional extremities,  holding nothing back. It marks the band’s first album since 2018’s ORIGINS.

Recent tour reviews

The concert was really great. Every members of the band had SO much energy that they shared with the public. Dan Reynolds made a speech on the LGBT youth at some point during the concert and that was great, he spoke with his heart and the public gave this love back. The light were blowing our minds and they were at their best during the whole concert.

At some point, there only were instumentals and the singer (Dan Reynolds) lied down on the ground and started doing yoga, which was pretty funny.

In the middle of the concert, they went on the second stage (smaller and in the middle of the room) so everyone could see them.

They ended the concert with the first song we have (my sisters and I) discovered them with six years ago.

I truly encourage people to go to their concert because they are one of the most fantastic band of the 21th century.

PS: if I can share an advise, if you really want to bring a goodie home, buy it BEFORE the concert. At the end, there are a lot of people and, I guess, less choice (we bought it before the concert so we had all the pleasure and time to choose what we wanted)

I’ve been listening to the group since so long, and the first song I heard from them was Radioactive, which everyone knows I’m sure of it. The concert run an hour late, but nobody was complaining and they started with I don’t know why, which immediately put everybody in the mood. There was many generations mixed, and all the adults around me didn’t really knew imagine dragons, weren’t really sure if they were going to like it, and were really surprised to see they were just loving the concert. The group was playing and singing at the perfection, all of them was contributing to the making of each songs, and there was such a good atmosphere it was really incredible. Dan Reynolds (the lead singer) talked really often to the crowd during the show and also took a moment to raise awareness about LGBT youth, which was a really touching moment. Their energy, their complicity with each other, everything was perfect, and the last song, radioactive, there so well known hit, just ended the concert with a great energy. I loved it, probably one of the best concert I’ve ever been. Imagine dragons is not like many artists who just come on stage, say hi, sing ( either in playback, or wrong), don’t interact with the crowd, and get out of stage without a thank you. Imagine dragons talked to us so many times it was really pleasant, I’ve never seen a group or an artist take the time to say something relevant, they even went into the crowd during the show, to the back of the concert hall so people in the back could see them at least for 3 songs. It was perfect, and I sure will go to their next concert, because seeing Imagine dragons in live, is just magic and unforgettable.

This was the first concert that we took our two children to (ages 10 and 12) and they had a great time! The venue (Shoreline Amphitheater) was fantastic and we enjoyed our view from the lawn.

The opening bands were engaging and certainly warmed up the crowd! When Imagine Dragons appeared, our kids were really excited and ready for a "full concert experience"! Imagine Dragons did not disappoint! They played all the popular songs as well as some older ones. They even changed stages halfway through the concert which was a great bonus! The band definitely knew how to keep the crowd engaged from asking us to sing along to "Yesterday" and even releasing large balloons for the crowd to bat around throughout the second half of the concert.

Their final few songs, which included Radioactive, were absolutely brilliant! They had so much energy at the end it was infectious! Their extended drumming section in Radioactive was awesome! They ended with two songs instead of a typical walk off and then come back for an encore. Their final song, Believer, was a rocking anthem that had us all walking away singing at the end of the concert. Overall, it was a great first concert for my kids and a great reminder of why live music matters so much!

Paul Bradshaw / 2 December 2021

Interview: Imagine Dragons

The Las Vegas rock stars chat to Discover ahead of their massive world tour – talking lyrics, legacy and their hopes for Mercury - Act 2

“There’s an energy… There’s a sound… There’s a vibe… When that many people get together to be passionate about anything, whether it’s sports or a show, there’s a wave that hits you and it’s just very hard to describe, but we’re all completely addicted to it”.  Dan Reynolds

By 2018, Imagine Dragons were on top of the world. With a roomful of international music awards, more than 75 million record sales, and the official record for being the most streamed group in the world – the band decided to take a break from touring. As plans for a big return melted into the start of the pandemic, the band’s hiatus got longer until they found themselves putting out  Mercury – Act 1  in September 2021 after three years away from main stages.

“Three years was such a long time for us,” laughs lead singer Dan Reynolds, chatting to  Discover  in a hotel suite somewhere above the Oxford Street Christmas lights. “We’d been touring for pretty much 10 years straight before that. But it was good to take that time off in a way. It helped reinvigorate us. It helped remind us how lucky we are to be on a stage with a group of people. I think the whole world took that for granted. But now we’re definitely ready to get back together and celebrate life and music.”

Announcing their biggest ever world tour for 2022, Imagine Dragons are playing one night in the UK at Stadium MK on June 18 , bringing their most intimate and emotional record to the 45,000 seat venue. “I think I’m a really high and low person,” says Reynolds, already thinking about how the new songs are going to track alongside their earlier hits. “This record, for me, is more concerned with death and grief but every record has had its moments of being on top of the world, with these very happy, light-hearted songs, and then they have these other songs just bleeding out right next to them. So I think our fans have grown to understand that that’s the journey of Imagine Dragons.”

Partially inspired by the death of Reynolds’ sister-in-law, as well as by the loss of other friends and by his own struggles with mental health issues,  Mercury – Act 1  marks the start of a new chapter for Imagine Dragons – one defined by more intimate, personal and direct song writing.

“I think I probably was afraid of opening up in the beginning, for sure,” says Reynolds, now faced with pouring out his emotions in front of thousands of people a night. “That’s why I’d be very metaphoric, which was one of my greatest weaknesses as a writer. I think it’s really important to open up, and a lot of my favourite writers, people like Cat Stevens, were always very direct. You knew what they were singing about and you could feel it on a deeper level. I’m getting older now so I think I’ve tried to be a little more on the nose without being trite.”

Spurred on by the record’s great fan reception, the band are now more eager than ever to get back on stage and play the new songs live. “I think I’m more excited to play this record than any yet, from top to bottom,” says lead guitarist Wayne Sermon. “It just goes places we haven’t gone. ‘Dull Knives’ is probably the heaviest song we’ve ever done. ‘Cutthroat’ and ‘Giants’ are going to be really cool live. But then there’s also songs like ‘It’s Ok’ that I think will just feel really different for us, and that’s so exciting”.

Formed in Las Vegas back in 2008, Imagine Dragons quickly rose up the local scene playing bars, clubs and casino lounges – pegging their success to the Vegas scene that has nurtured so many other big names over the last few decades. “The two bands that we really saw come up before us were The Killers and Panic! At The Disco , both out of Vegas, says Reynolds. “I grew up with Brendon from Panic and we were friends before any of that happened. We were both raised Mormon, so I would see him at Mormon events. It’s so important to see that happening to bands that are from where you’re from. It becomes this easy jump to think, ‘maybe I can make it too’, ‘maybe I don’t have to move to LA or New York or wherever’. So it gave us the confidence to stick to our roots. I’m third generation Las Vegas. I was born and raised there. And I’ll die there. I love that city.”

“The one thing you can do in Vegas is get up on a stage,” adds drummer Daniel Platzman. “We didn’t have the money to drive to LA, but in Vegas, you know, as long as you were willing to do half covers and play for people that weren’t necessarily there to see you, you could play some of those lounge acts and kind of cut your teeth playing live. I think that’s a big reason why we’re successful, all those little stages.”

Remembering back to their first ever gig together at the Sinister bar at The Rock And Roll Lounge (“It’s since been closed because they had a bunch of shootings there…” says bassist Ben McKee, “My amplifier exploded as soon as I turned it on…”), Imagine Dragons have come a long way since 2009 – getting their first big break at the Bite Of Last Vegas festival just months after they released their first EP.

“The first festival I ever went to was the one we headlined,” laughs Reynolds. “We had this morning slot booked in front of about 100 people on a little side stage, and that night, the headliner was Train. As it turned out, Pat Monahan got swine flu and had to drop out at the last minute. The promoter came to us and said, ‘Hey, do you guys want to fill in on the mainstage?’ That was 20,000 people. It was pretty scary to go up and say, ‘Hey, we know you wanted to see Train, but we’re a little local band…’. But the crowd got behind us and we put on the show of our life. That was the turning point for us.”

Imagine Dragons - Radioactive (Live At The Joint)

With dates booked throughout summer 2022 in stadiums all over Europe, following a massive North America run that starts in February, Imagine Dragons are now deep into pre-production on the biggest tour of their career. “We’ll have a long few weeks in a warehouse together to practice as a band, just like we always have for 10 years, and then we’ll get ready to put on the best show of our life,” smiles Reynolds, not intimidated at all. “These are gonna be stadiums, and that’s very different from arenas, so it’s a big step for us, but we’re excited to step up to it.”

Keeping details of the show under wraps, the band hint at a gig that spans their whole back catalogue, covering every chapter of the Imagine Dragons story. “Each era is supposed to have a certain feeling to it and our fans will hopefully recognise those feelings and what it looks like,” says Reynolds. “Whether it’s  Smoke + Mirrors  or it’s this kind of gothica world, we’re going to try and take a journey through those albums.”

Now five albums in, the biggest problem the band face is working out which tracks to play. “It’s getting to the point where it’s really hard to put together a setlist,” laughs Sermon. “On the Night Visions tour we were like, ‘guys, we’ve got an hour-long slot and we’ve got eight songs… what are we going to do?!” But now it’s like, ‘guys, we have 40 or 50 songs we want to play… what are we going to do?!’ So yeah, it feels like finally for the first time we have kind of shoes that fit.”

“I keep pitching an alphabetical system and I keep getting shot down…” laughs Platzman. Deciding to mix things up, the band are committed to making sure every night of the Mercury tour feels different, changing up their setlists to make sure they cover as much as possible. And then there’s the next chapter to think of, with  Mercury – Act 2  now confirmed, but still undated.

“It’s gonna be different,” says Reynolds. “I mean, it’s different enough that we didn’t want it to be as part of  Act 1 . I think our fans can expect to see us go to some new territory. I think on  Act 1  we’ve gone to some new places already, but there are moments on this next record that do things way differently than we’ve ever done, which is really exciting for us. You know, five records in, we’re just looking for new ground. We’re just looking to keep ourselves excited.”

Imagine Dragons will be playing Stadium MK on Saturday 18 June 2022, and tickets are available now.

Enter For A Chance To Win The Cranberries’ Debut Album On Limited Edition Vinyl

Imagine Dragons’ sixth studio album LOOM represents the pinnacle of their artistic journey of self-discovery. The album, produced entirely by Imagine Dragons and their longtime collaborators Mattman and Robin, finds the perfect balance between the classic sounds that have made them superstars and the freshness that brought them joy in the studio.

Imagine Dragons - Eyes Closed (Official Music Video)

Featuring nine brand new tracks including hit single “Eyes Closed,” LOOM signifies new beginnings on the horizon—the excitement for a new day, moments yet to come.

Last year, the members of Imagine Dragons found themselves with a rare and well-deserved break from the road. They made the most of it by devoting that time to family and friends. Catalyzed by this respite with a refreshed perspective, the band rallied together in the studio and mined the same well of inspiration that fed their most beloved material.

Frontman Dan Reynolds says of the new track, “After taking some time off the road and spending time catching up with family and loved ones, I finally have felt the desire to go back to the sonic places that originally brought me the most joy, but with a new outlook and mentality. The world looks much different after being a band for more than a decade. But some things will always remain the same. It’s finding that right balance of nostalgia and freshness that brings me the most joy in the studio. We had a lot of fun making this one and hope you enjoy it too.”

Imagine Dragons Discography:

Night Visions (2012) Smoke + Mirrors (2015) Evolve (2017) Origins (2018) Mercury – Act 1 (2021) Mercury – Act 2 (2022)

Imagine Dragons is an American rock band that got its roots in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band has slowly gained a loyal following through its consistent tours and shows. Through this, what was once a small band with a small following turned into a household name with millions of fans.

Imagine Dragons Background

Imagine Dragons consists of four main group members. Dan Reynolds (singer), from Las Vegas, Nevada,  Wayne Sermon (guitarist) from American Fork, Utah, Daniel Platzman (percussion) from Atlanta, Georgia, and Ben Mckee (bass) from Forestville, California make up the award-winning alt-rock group that everyone is talking about.

Imagine Dragons released their first studio album, Night Visions in 2012. This album was met with unprecedented success in such a short period of time. In fact, because of this album, Billboard named them the “Breakout Band of 2013.” Other albums like Smoke + Mirrors and Evolve were met with similar enthusiasm from fans and other rock recognition groups.

Imagine Dragons Greatest Hits

Although Imagine Dragons hasn’t produced many songs, the ones they’ve made have always been a blast. Songs like “Radioactive” and “Demons” easily became chart-topping singles within a few days after release. More recent songs like “Thunder,” “Believer,” and “Whatever It Takes” from the album Evolve all came together to make them the artist with the most weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart.

Imagine Dragons Plan Summer Tour for New Album, ‘Loom’

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission.

Now that Dan Reynolds has shown off his Indiana Jones–like ability to escape boobytrapped ancient ruins — all without the aid of socks — in Imagine Dragons’ “Eyes Closed” video, the group will show that it can tour with its eyes closed as veterans of the road. The Imagine Dragons will kick off an arena tour this summer — tied to the release of their new nine-track album, Loom (out June 28) — and it will run through the fall.

Tickets will go on sale Friday. Various presales begin Tuesday. Full details are on the group’s website . There are also VIP packages including one with “a signed guitar played by a member of Imagine Dragons on stage that night.”
