A lifetime experience

We chose this travel agency for Sundarban tour on the basis of reviews in Tripadvisor. I am happy to say that they upheld their reputation quite well. Since we had two kids with us, at the start of the tour we were a bit apprehensive about the quality of water as well as the food. This was soon put to rest as we were supplied with bottled water in the bus and the food was very mildly spicy. Our tour started in time and we were picked up almost on the dot from our chosen pick-up point. After about 4 hour's drive( breakfast was served in the bus) we got down at Gadkhali and boarded a motor launch. Arrived at Pakhiralay after about 1 and half hours for our night stay. After a sumptuous lunch, we set out for a tour in the same vessel. By that time, however, lights were going down and not much was there to be seen. We came back to the resort after about two hours and had evening snacks, roamed about the village for souvenirs as also for honey and enjoyed local folk dance arranged for us. There was a bonfire as well. After dinner, we retired for the night. The cottages provided had four beds each but on request, we were alotted three rooms for eight of us. The rooms had AC but in the winter that was not necessary. Though there was no heating arrangement, we were provided with sufficient numbers of clean blankets. Rooms and toilets were clean and with basic facilities. We had dish TV in the rooms but unfortunately, no geyser. Buckets of hot water were supplied for our bath. After breakfast the next day, we boarded a smaller motor launch at about 09.00 hrs and with tour guide, went over to Sajnekhali - where our jungle tour really started. After that we boarded the vessel again and went to Sudhanyakhali. Last point of the tour was at Dobanki. These three points of the Tiger reserve were all where the tourists are allowed entry within the sanctuary. One need to see these places himself to really experience the feelings and the sights offered. We had lunch on board and finally started our return journey at about 16.00 hours. Reached Gadkhali around 19.30 hrs. and boarded our bus for Kolkata. We were back at our disembarking point at about 21.30 hours. This was a memorable experience and thanks to the Team especially to Vivek who managed it so smoothly and spared no pain to make our trip an immense success. We are also thankful to our guide Mr. Jana for without him we could not have seen the animals and birds on our own.

You'll start feeling cheated the moment you start your tour with this company. You Won't get everything as promised. Time management is the worse thing you will experience with them. Go with government agency or anyone else could be better than "Sunderban Chalo"

From 16th to 18 th December 2018 we enjoyed the bountiful natural beauties of Sundarban. It was really a once in life time experience. The trip was especially made more enjoyable by the care and comforts provided by the tour operators 'Sundarban Chalo'. There services were both professional and homely . Personal attention was paid to us . Beginning at Indian Museum Kolkata pick up to drop at the Road Head at Gadkhali to taking you to a quaint looking eco-friendly living complex, all arrangements were very pleasant. They looked after us very well. Because of the inaccessibility of the place you don't expect five star comforts but under the circumstances the group provides the best possible. The most important part of the tour is guided cruise through the backwaters, seeing the mangroves forest, getting proper food while cruising, getting opportunity to see the magestic Royal Bengal Tiger,etc. In this the Sundarban Chalo group excels. An altogether satisfying trip. We strongly recommend the group. There are two types of trips : 1night 2 days & 2 nights 3days trip. We took the latter. But I feel the 1 night 2 days trip is better. Nature lovers must go to Sundarban at least once. The surrealistic heavenly creation of oceanic backwaters, never ending series of islands, dense mangrove forests, a huge diversity of birds and animals, and the rare chance to see the mighty beautiful and intelligent 'Bengali' tiger should not be missed. We were lucky to spot the beautiful beast.

Whilst in Kolkata we decided to visit the Sundarbans Tiger reserve and National Park.We found Chalo Tours in Sudder Street and arranged an all inclusive, 3 night, 4 day tour at an extremely competitive price.. They offered a group tour or a private one.Having chosen the private one we were collected from our hotel in an air con car and driven down to their eco resort on the very edge of the park. Upon arrival nothing was too much trouble and the three of us were given the “ private tour “ treatment from the off. We had our own private boat , crew and official guide for three wonderful trips into the National Park. Good meals were served on two of the trips which made sightseeing for eight hours a pleasure as well as a privilege. Alas we didn’t spot a tiger but did see crocodiles, monitor lizards, wild boar spotted deer and many spectacular birds. At night we were treated to buffet meals and local dancing, the staff were charming and work together as though a family, Vivek, the owner was very solicitous and went out of his way to cater for us. I would count this tour as among the top five in many years of travelling and give it six stars if I could.

Sudeshna Dash 14 months ago I would give them 6 stars actually. They are extremely good at arranging this trip. The price is very reasonable and the services that are offered with the same price is amazing. A driver picked us up from Indian museum and dropped us near the ferry. We boarded the boat and they served us nice lunch and took us to sunset point and then finally to the resort. The resort was neat and clean, gives a beautiful village experience. Then they also arranged the local folk dance followed by dinner. Again, the food was amazing (they cook one of the best chicken dishes). The next day was for the jungle safari. We had a guide who showed us different animals and birds. We were unlucky and couldn't spot a tiger but saw a lot more animals and the mighty mangroves. Summarising the experience: Food : 5/5 stars. Awesome taste Stay: 4.5/5 stars. Great hospitality Overall experience: 6/5 stars. Too good Highlights: Long river cruise, sunsets, hospitality

We loved their hospitality, their food, their mud hotel rooms, their tour guides, the folk dance, but most importantly we absolutely loved their staffs. The staffs are so well behaved and always there to help, special mention- Ajay and Sudarshan. They were so hospitable and warm. The host Sandeep da was so friendly, always making sure that the guests have the best possible experience. Overall, it was a memorable 2 days trip. We would love to come back . ❤️

Arpan Majumder 12 months ago We visited Sunderban with them in Jan 2023. We had a very pleasing experience . . The place of stay was really nice with we'll maintained facilities. The boat on which we spent the most time could be improved upon though. Also have to mention that the food also was pretty good when compared to the price point. Overall I'll recommend visiting with them.

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.
