Located with a beach view, the journey restaurant has high quality food & drink, the staff are very friendly and will make you feel welcome. Nisa served us, who was very accommodating to our needs. Joke was our bartender and made the best cocktails, especially... the long Island iced tea! More

The journey restaurant is the perfect place for a relaxed afternoon by the sea. Chilled athmosphere with grest music, good food for a reasonable price and most important the super friendly staff , very motivated and helpful. They made our visits there to the highlight... of our whole vacation. Many thanks to the team Khun Kea, Gee, Peter and Gloong. We will return next year ! More

The restaurant location is awesome with stunning views. The food I did have was good as well as some of the cocktails. However, I was there 3 days and each day I had to go looking for someone to take my order, get me a... refill, bring my check, etc. I have worked in the service industry so I am pretty patient but usually at the 10 minute mark I would go searching. This was during breakfast, lunch, and afternoon time. Also, if you are staying at the hotel make sure that breakfast is included in your room, otherwise you will be charged 350 baht per person and the breakfast was not worth that amount. If the service was better this restaurant would have received a recommendation but I shouldn't have to chase people to pay higher tourist prices for food and drinks. More

Visited and gave 5 star review on this property previously but my goodness not the same experience this time. We ordered entree and mains with waitress and usually entrees would be served first then a break and then mains would appear. This time all meals... came out at once except for our friend who actually got his entree but then needed to go looking for his main meal once we had all finished our meals. Timing on meals was very disappointing. Drinks where good however. Food was very mediocre. Even the male waiter quizzed the lady waitress as to why all our meals came out together. We also said we didn’t want our mains here yet but she didn’t seem to care about the huge error on her part and the chef. No apologies given. What a sad ending to our last evening dining experience. I honestly thought I had saved the best restaurant til last as I had talked up your restaurant to my friends for a whole week only to be let down. More

We are French people we stayed one week at Casa de Mar hotel. We had dinner twice and we enjoy the meals. Buffet American breakfast is served from 7.30 am. We had nice hot dishes, eggs, yoghurt, pans cakes, fruit … and expresso coffee (good... one). The service is perfect, professionnel and friendly. We enjoy the supervisor KEA who attend to the guests. I totally enjoyed my first time cocktail class here. They provided options between Pina Colada and Mai Tai, which I chose Mai Tai. Khun Nisa and Khun Kae are very helpful for my cocktail class. We stayed at the hotel (Casa de mar) for 17 days. Our routine was to skip the breakfast (although it looked very good and people were enjoying it). Instead we would have Chocolate Coolers or Vanilla Frosts (ice coffee with chocolate or vanilla icecream and... whipped cream on top). After that passion fruit or mango smoothie. After a bath or two, happy hour would start (13-15h) and we would order another round of the same or a variation of it. By the time we were through it, we would be hungry. We tried like 10 items from the menu, all of them great, nicely balanced flavours and a good quantity to keep you till the dinner. The pool and the overall setup (lots of places in the sun and shades) made it perfect for a good rest. Kea and here colleagues were great and did everything to make us feel like at home. 11 out of 10 for the restaurant and the staff! More

What a wonderful few days staying in Koh Samui. We were so happy when we found the Journey Bar & Restaurant which is part of the Casa de mar. The waitress made us feel so welcome on each of our visits, and when we come... back we will definitely stay at this hotel. The cocktails and food were amazing and its a credit to the hotel. More

We stayed at Casa de Mar during several days and we extended our stay due to the 3rd wave of Covid in Thailand. Most of our meals were done at The Journey Bar & Restaurant and we love the place for many reasons: First all... staff, but in particular Khun Kea, Khun Rung and Khun Aor were super friendly, always smiling, trying to make us feel at home and playing with the children. The food is very good and there are many healthy options with affordable prices. The view to the beach is just amazing and we believe it’s the best in Chaweng beach. Casa de mar has direct access to the beautiful beach and a super nice swimming pool. We definitely recommend Casa de Mar and the Journey Bar & Restaurant!! More

We were staying nearby at the Anatara Lawana, and having researched the area we found this restaurant was a 10 minute walk away. It was a strange walk through the accommodation, however the restaurant area was spacious and was not busy both times we visited.... The food selection is wide, and we ordered a number of different dishes, from curries, to chicken wings, to salads, and everything was packed full of flavour. Absolutely delicious food and the view over the beach made it even better. The service was spot on, and the cost was really reasonable. If staying in Koh Samui, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. More

This restaurant is on the waterfront with gorgeous views. However the Massaman beef curry was ordinary and the pad see ew was cold and just not good. I’ve had significantly better meals at my lunchtime food court. Perhaps it’s COVID cutbacks leading to cost savings!... Unfortunately I won’t be back. More

Chose this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews and boy did it not disappoint. Gorgeous nightlit setting on the beach, definitely a romantic setting if you were looking for one. The food was really lively, great flavours and really super price point. One challenge is... finding the place. The hotel it is part of is not well signed (actually not signed at all!!!) from the main road. It is down a steep poorly lit road towards the beach on a tight corner. We found location when coming back from an activity on a bus and they dropped off people here. Don't think we would have found it otherwise....but well worth trying More

The Journey restaurant. I was so happy till this time, but today evening i drunk a coctail mohito, which was far from the coctail is called mohito (earlier all coctails was OK) and i ate a king prawn, which was the biggest dissapointment. It had... no taste, it lacked salt, pepper and all spices, as if it had been cooked in water alone, the garnish too. Please more care from the chef. The pizza and hamburger is ok :) More

The food here was phenomenal. The spring rolls and banana fritters were so yum and my friend had the pineapple fried rice which she is still talking about how good it was! A nice view and vibe and consistently good food.

Costco makes hundreds of millions on 24-karat gold bar sales

Costco has generated an estimated $100M to $200M per month in gold sales.

Costco may be known for exclusive pricing on everything from high-end spirits to food court hot dogs, but an influx of members are going for gold.

The big box retailer, which started selling 1-ounce nearly pure 24-karat gold bars priced at about $2,000 last fall, has seen a growing amount of consumer interest recently amid inflation and economic uncertainty.

"This is a currency that has been around for thousands of years. It is one thing that holds its value and increases its value over a duration of time," Hitha Herzog, retail analyst and chief research officer at H Squared Research, told ABC News.

In a new equity research note from Wells Fargo, the bank estimated Costco has generated $100 million to $200 million per month in gold bar sales.

"We view the addition of gold/silver as a smart move for Costco, as it only reinforces its value position," the report stated. "That being said, pricing at that level and shipping costs suggests it's a very low-profit business at best."

While the price is not disclosed online to nonmembers, the product typically sells for nearly 2% above the spot price, which as of time of publication was around $2,354 per troy ounce, up more than $350 since 2023.

Personal finance content creator Humphrey Yang told ABC News he purchased one of the bars at Costco for $2,359.

"I think I'll hold on to it as long as I can and maybe I can pass it down to a future generation," he said.

Gold is not a guaranteed investment and has fluctuated before hitting today's record highs.

"The idea of it is that gold holds its worth and that is why people want to have that as a potential investment in their portfolios," Herzog said.

Costco limits the amount of gold that members can purchase to just 5 ounces per customer.

For those looking to make a short term investment, with plans to sell, there is the possibility of a short term capital gains tax between 10% and 30%.

The atmosphere has a very classy and high end vibe, but at the same time is very relaxed and comfortable. The smash burger sliders were delicious. The service was great and the owner, Brody is very personable and very knowledgeable in the restaurant industry. We will be back, for sure.

Stopped in for happy hour yesterday and had some light bites and drinks. Michaela was our server and was great. She checked in often and made sure we had a great experience. We had the bruschetta and our favorite was the one with dates. We also shared the donuts for dessert and they were great. Drink specials for happy hour were nice. Several options. The espresso martini was great and the Ichiro julep was strong but tasty. Great new addition to the area. Excited to come back for a game sometime.

Beautiful new place, super friendly service, large portions, great wine and cocktail selection. Loved the Dirty Martini Dip, Fig and Prosciutto Flat Bread and French Dip Sliders. Interior is beautiful and prices are very fair. Great HH! Welcome to the Sheaborhood.

This place has a great vibe, our server was great! She checked us often, food was great, we had guacamole highly recommended, we did prosciutto as well, very tasty! Food and drinks took a while due to they just opened and seemed they figuring things out yet but I will definitely go back!

We really enjoyed this new restaurant! The patio is great the decor is fun with a vintage twist. There's a bar serving unique drinks- we loved the signature French XIV and the Ichiro's julep . The burger was awesome and you have to try the cookie! We shared the French dip sliders they were a hit with everyone at the table. And my wife loved the Avocado Caesar.

This place is the best!!!!! I was lucky enough to meet the manager Michaela. service was beyond exceptional and the French fries with truffle and Parmesan was amazing. The best part of the entire experience was the atmosphere, but I cannot give enough kudos to the actual burgers and sliders. The way the meat was mixed, was in perfect proportion, and I will be going back every chance I get to meet the staff again and also enjoy the great food and the wonderful experience. This is such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. We stopped in for happy hour last night for the first time and enjoyed a warm reception, cool atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff, excellent food and drinks and terrific service. We've never been to a sports bar quite like this one before. There are nice classy touches everywhere including large TVs in gold picture frames. The TVs were airing different sporting events but the sound we heard was music rather than blaring competing audio. Their take on an Old Fashion is a smoked "Gold Fashion" which was delicious. (I had two) The owner, Brody is a very friendly guy and was kind enough to visit with us at our table even though it was very busy. We sat inside because it was windy on the inviting patio but hope to sit outside when we return with friends in tow very soon! Oh yea, they will be featuring live music on the patio too! Vintage 14 is so much better than the previous occupants of this space and we wish them many years of success to come!

Exceptional food - with a great eclectic vibe. Excellent service, relaxed atmosphere, definitely not "Scottsdale stuffy." Best sliders ever! But don't miss out on their ale battered artichokes and chicken tenders (crispiest anywhere) ... and the surprising martini dip! A great new food experience. Have already sent several friends who have also had great food and fun! Don't miss this!
