You don't have to join your Sim when they go to work, but you'll need to go a few times if you want them to make any progression in the career. As a detective, your Sim will need to solve cases and bust bad guys and you can't expect a Sim's AI to be able to handle that alone.

Updated August 29, 2023 by Gabrielle Castania: Since there's no "right" order in which to buy the game's DLC, The Sims 4 stays popular regardless of how old it may be. Players are still seeking info about The Sims 4 Detective career, so we've updated our guide to keep everything in line with our current standards. Good luck, detective!

Follow Your Sim To Work Or Send Them Alone

One of the interactive careers introduced in Get to Work, the Detective career is The Sims 4's take on a police career, allowing you to watch your Sim work their way up the ranks to reach the top brass.

When you join your Sim and travel along to the police station, you'll realize that the game really streamlines the world of being a detective. You will get a menu in the top-left of your screen with various tasks that you must complete in order to raise your job performance.

These tasks range from simply socializing with your colleagues to undertaking actual detective work. As you get promoted up the ladder, you'll get to do more things such as arresting suspects and solving cases.

Remember that you can hover your mouse over any task to receive hints and tips about how to complete it.

  • Make sure your workday is varied! You'll have tasks that involve desk work, processing criminals, and listening to the rants of civilians - try to get as many tasks done in one area at once to save time.
  • Going on Patrol might seem useful as it raises performance with little effort, but it's time-consuming. Only do this when it's a promotion requirement .
  • When you have tasks that require socialization, such as " Get Witness Report ," the correct option should appear immediately when clicking on a target.
  • If you manage to be Focused while at work, you become more efficient at your job. To enable this, try placing items with Focusing auras around your office.

If you find yourself running out of time to complete all of your allotted tasks, you can extend the workday by clicking the button next to the timer. This button can also be used to leave work early if you're particularly expedient with your daily tasks.

In order to go to a Crime Scene, click on the Crime Map in the office. Once you're at the Crime Scene, you will be presented with a new list of objectives that will let you gain clues for your current case and progress your performance bar.

  • Click the ground to search for clues . These might be suspicious items or pieces of graffiti.
  • When you have found clues, you should take samples and take photographs of them to get as much evidence as possible.
  • You will also have to question witnesses . Look around for them, as they can sometimes be hard to find. You will know if a Sim is a potential witness if you get the option to interview them on your first click.

Once you have completed all of the tasks at the Crime Scene, you can click on your Sim and return to the office. There, you should file the Crime Scene Evidence at your computer.

Solving a case is the end result after lots of police work that involves searching crime scenes, pondering clues on the Crime Board, and finally Issuing an APB . This can only be done when you have enough evidence collected and will take you to a location where the suspect can be found.

When out and about, you need to use your phone's notebook feature to keep track of all of your clues . These will be things like the suspect's hair color and gender - these will lead you to your suspect.

Talk to people to find out things about them, and when you think you have your target identified, arrest them .

Once arrested and taken to the station, you need to interrogate your suspect . You can take a few different methods (Good Cop, Bad Cop, etc.) but rely on evidence, and you should make them crack eventually - assuming you caught the right Sim of course!

If you can extract a confession from a guilty Sim, you'll have solved your first case . Congratulations!

Progressing through the Detective Career is spelled out quite simply for you in the career menu. The first few ranks of the career are varied, but it quickly becomes focused on solving cases. The table below details each rank of the Detective Career and their promotion requirements.

As you progress through the Detective Career, you will earn a ton of rewards. In addition to cash bonuses, you can acquire new clothes and new items.

To wear your new clothes, you can edit your outfits with a wardrobe or a mirror . The item rewards are inserted directly into your household inventory, but you can buy extras once you've acquired one.

The table below details what you'll get and when.

Along with cash rewards, you'll slowly but surely unlock everything you need to build your own jail if you aren't using Build/Buy cheats to access them early.

The Sims 4 Get to Work: First Day at the Detective Career

03 30 15 8 31 PM

One of the new careers that comes with The Sims 4 Get to Work is the Detective career. The first day at the Detective career begins at takes place from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on every day from Monday to Friday. When it is time for your Sim to leave for work, you will receive a prompt asking you whether you want to follow them to work or send them alone. If you opt to send them alone, it will function just like a regular career. If, however, you choose to go with them, you can control them throughout the work day.

03-30-15_8-21 PM

After a short loading screen, your Sim will arrive at the Police Station. By default, it cannot be customized, but using the cheat “bb.freebuildmode” will unlock Build Mode and it will be yours to change as you want. When playing the Detective career with a new Sim for the first time, there will always be a set chain of tasks to follow. The first task is to use the computer to Get a Case Assignment. Afterwards, your Sim will be asked to use the computer to Travel to Crime Scene.

03-30-15_8-25 PM

Your Sim will then be taken to any random occupied residential lot in the game. This career gives you a reason to care about the other houses and households in the game. At the crime scene, you will be asked to Collect Clues, Get Reports from Witnesses and Take Crime Scene Pictures. Once your Sim has completed enough goals, they will be asked to return to Police Station. You can send them back by clicking on them and selecting Return to Police Station.

03-30-15_8-28 PM

On returning to the Police Station, your Sim’s next task will be to analyze the evidence using the Chemical Analyzer. You can do this by clicking on one of the Chemical Analyzers and selecting Analyze Evidence, then selecting a piece of evidence in your inventory from the list. If the first attempt isn’t successful, just try again with a different piece of evidence.

Next, your Sim will be asked to File Crime Scene Evidence at a Computer. This is straightforward: just click the computer and select File Crime Scene Evidence.

03-30-15_8-31 PM

At the end of the day, your Sim will be send home with pay. It’s time to rest up for next time!

The Sims 4: Detective Career Guide

For Sims that want to get more action in their career, check out the Detective Career

Released on March 30, 2015, The Sims 4: Get to Work is the franchise's first expansion pack. This pack's theme centers around work life, providing players with the opportunity to become active participants in their Sims' careers by introducing active careers. In addition to this, Get To Work includes many other additions to the gameplay, giving players a chance to truly engage with their Sims' lives.

Active Careers previously referred to as Professions, introduces an immersive gameplay aspect for careers in The Sims 4 by bringing back a feature from The Sims 3 Ambitions . Through active careers, players can choose to follow their Sims to work. This means that their Sims won't be disappearing into a rabbit hole during work hours, providing a more interactive experience. During work hours, Sims can complete tasks and earn promotions faster if players decide to accompany them to their job. One such active career is the Detective Career, which enables Sims to investigate cases and solve crimes.

Detective Career General Info And Promotions

Compared to other active careers in the expansion, the Detective career offers a more balanced experience. It has less demanding hours than the Doctor career but requires more involvement than the Scientist career. Sims in this career get to explore various locations as they visit crime scenes, giving them the chance to meet new Sims and discover new places. Moreover, while there is a designated work lot for the Detective career, players will be spending a lot of time outside of this lot, which makes this career quite a unique and fun way to make money .

Related: The Sims 4: The Best Career For Your Sim (Based On The University They Attended)

The first levels of this career might look quite mundane to some players, but as their Sims progress through the career levels, they will find it much more fun and rewarding. Sims will start getting autonomy on their tasks, allowing them to take on their own cases and unlock new interactions. As an active career, the Detective career does not branch out to two directions and has 10 levels in total.

The initial levels of the Detective career are designed to guide players through simple, single-step tasks such as interrogating suspects or visiting crime scenes. These tasks serve as tutorials, acquainting players with the different activities that Sims must perform to solve cases independently. It is important to note that the case numbers indicated in each level represent the total amount of cases required to be solved. Thus, while each level requires one more case than the previous one, it simply means that players need to solve one additional case to fulfill the promotion requirement.

Related: The Sims 4: Tips For The Interior Decorator Career

In addition, it's worth noting that many of the rewards for completing the Detective career are police station-themed furniture and objects such as jail bars. These rewards can be useful for players who enjoy creating their own unique stories and challenges involving crime.

How To Get Promotions Quickly

Like other careers, certain traits can be more advantageous than others for easier promotions. While specific skills aren't required for promotions in the Detective career, traits such as genius and outgoing can enhance the Sim's enjoyment of solving crimes and interacting with others. Additionally, the Observant reward trait, available in the Satisfaction Points Rewards Shop , can be highly beneficial for Sims to learn more about the Sims they interact with.

Maintaining a Focused moodlet significantly improves job performance, so players should focus on activities that can grant this moodlet before going to work. Many activities that involve solving the case will also increase job performance. Going on Patrol is a job activity that can also boost job performance, but it should only be done at higher levels once enough cases have been solved, and only when the Sim only needs a job performance boost.

How To Solve A Case

Solving a case involves a series of police interactions, starting with exploring and collecting evidence at crime scenes, and followed by various activities at the police station.

However, many interactions during the latter part is only available once enough evidence is gathered, so players should focus on collecting as much as evidence as possible when at the crime scenes.

Crime Scene Activities

A big part of solving a case comes from being able to thoroughly explore the crime scene. Fortunately, when players are at the crime scene, they can pause the game to locate relevant objects and queue actions related to the case. Generally, these objects are easy to identify, as they may be dirty or damaged, or simply appear out of place.

Related: Highest Paying Careers In The Sims 4, Ranked

In addition, players can click on the ground to investigate further and obtain new clues. New objects that are relevant to the case, such as personal items from the suspects, may also appear. Players can take photos of these objects and talk to witnesses. To solve the crime, it is recommended to collect as many clues as possible by ensuring the Sim interacts with every object and witness at the location. Players can also collect witness reports, and the game will guide players loosely to help them speak to the correct Sim to obtain a report.

Interestingly, one advantage of collecting as many clues as possible is the ability to collect evidence for other cases. Once players have collected enough evidence, they should return to the police station to follow up on it and complete additional tasks to help them solve the case.

Police Station Activities

Once back at the police station, Sims can do a variety of tasks that involve the case, such as adding information to the database, building a Crime Map, and issuing an APB. Issuing an APB is ultimately required to make an arrest and becomes available only when players have gathered enough evidence. For players who haven't obtained enough evidence or information yet, paying attention to the Crime Map and deducing clues can be beneficial, as they might be able to get a new clue that was previously unavailable.

Solving the crime relies heavily on whether players have collected enough evidence and paid attention to the clues. Consequently, the likelihood of arresting the wrong suspect decreases as more clues are collected. Players can keep track of all the clues via the Notebook accessible through a Sim's phone. The clues include physical details such as the suspect's hair color, age, clothing, gender, as well as other details such as their personality traits, where the observant trait can be very useful. Players can also use social interactions such as Getting to Know or Discuss Interest to find out more about potential suspects.

Based on the clues, if players believe they are talking to the suspect, they can be arrested and taken to the station to be interrogated. There are various options during this procedure, such as playing Good Cop or Bad Cop, but the ultimate goal is to extract a confession from them, making them guilty. Players should pay attention to how the interrogated suspect looks or behaves. For example, if they appear worried, Bad Cop actions might be more suited, whereas if they are acting friendlier, Good Cop actions might be more appropriate. The whole interaction is like a mini-game based on the player's choices, as there will be a meter that indicates how close the detective is to getting a confession. The confession is only available once the bar is full. Once the confession is complete, the suspect can be locked up, and with that, the Sim will have solved the case.

Players should keep in mind that there are also other activities in the station, such as fingerprinting suspects or booking them, but these actions are not necessarily related to solving the case and are not recommended unless there isn't any other objective that can be performed.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

I can’t even get my sim to go to crime scene or patrol…but they can assign themself a case and start piecing things together on the corkboard…very frustrating.

that’s just part of the game. You have to piece together evidence in order to get clues as to who your suspect is… It is actually pretty easy just time consuming at first

Has anyone figured out the trick to interrogation? Like which questions should be asked based on the emotions of the suspect? It seems like a tricky system to figure out….

well my personal system is like this first you show them pictures then you play crazy cop after that you show them fingerpirnts or something you want and if they are close too confess you play good cop and give fake promises

😛 always work for me

what ive been doing is showing evidence to the suspect and be a bad cop if they are tense , but with shy suspects the bad cop role douse not work so be a good cop, i normally get confession quickly by using glare coldly and ignore plus intimidate them actions seem to always work for me . try them out and tell me how it went.

what i just did was interrogate them with the evidence section then repeat some of it until shes guilty and gonna confess xD

Thanks Don Lathario will be happy to know this he has been struggling!

My sim is the chief but other lower ranking sims (officers and such) keep on going into the office and using the computer and won’t seem to leave, is this just a part of the game? I never remember this happening when the system spawned chief was there.

If you have a tough time with interrogation.. I do this..

Cold Stare (Bad Cop) Fingerprint (Evidence) Photo (Evidence) Discuss Victim (Good Cop) Cold Stare (Bad Cop)

It works very well for my Detective :3 might not be the case for yours but it does work for me.

I’m a level 4 Detective and I’m on this case I’ve took all the photo’s, collected evidence, dusted for print’s and built my case by analysing & cross referencing. I’ve gotten several clue’s and sent out an APB. But no one is showing up matching all the suspect’s description’s on my note pad, I’ve attempted this 4 times now an even tried to arrest 2 old lady’s that were only one off matching the description and lost job progress. I’m I missing something ? Please Help !

NOT all clues are true and valid… i.e they say suspect is an elder, but its not its a teen…

So, I kneknew rebuilding the station could create problems. But I have plenty of computers. My problem is none of them will cross reference anything? I even binned the stuff I had and got new evidence. The option is just greyed out no matter which computer I try. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My ex roommate keeps breaking into my house. The police said to get her on camera which I think I have. How do I approach a detective to quickly put her in jail? It is a terrible stress.

Thank you, Pam

How do you dismiss a case? I found it before, but I cant find it now! I have all six clues, but I keep falsely arresting, even though they match the description. Please help!

my sim has one at the police station to question but cant find him don’t know what to do

The Sims 4 Get To Work: Game Lessons

Active Careers – Careers are the type of employment where your Sims go to work without you, the Player, and simply return home after their workday. Professions are the type of employment where you, the Simmer, get to go to work with your Sim and control their actions throughout their workday.   When it’s time to go to work you are prompted to make a choice. You can either send them off by themselves or you can travel with them. If you send them away alone they’ll return after the workday is complete (just like Careers). If you choose to go with them you will both travel to the Work Venu (only accessible during work time) and you will be presented with work goals to complete.   While you are with the Sim at work you can direct them to perform tasks that contribute to their workday performance. These are tracked using the Scored Career Event. Better workday performance means Sims earn more Simoleons for that shift and contributes to their overall Work Performance; essential for promotions!   If the end of the workday is approaching too fast (or maybe not fast enough), click the timer button on the Event user interface. There you can either Leave Work Early or Stay Late a couple of hours. At the end of the day, you’ll see your Sim’s earned income and any new career info if you were promoted.   If multiple Sims in your household are in Professions, only one Sim at a time can go to work with the player. If you’re at work with a Sim and it’s time for someone else to go to work, then the Sim will go by themselves and return home at the end of their shift (just like Professions).   While at work with their Sim the Player can still switch control to other Sims on their skewer. The first Sim will remain at work (but no longer add to the workday progress). The Player can switch back to the at-work Sim at any time, or if enough time passes, the Sim will return home when the workday ends.       Doctor Career – Just another day at the hospital for Sim doctors! Players can gain experience and strive to become the best doctor in town. Sims in the foctor career start off as Medical Interns but with a little hard work and experience they can eventually perform surgeries as seasoned doctors!   During the workday, patients with a sickness will be admitted and trickle in throughout the day. Low level doctors will help patients get situated and comfortable. After some experience, your Sim’s tasks will change to include tidying up the hospital and aiding the doctor in treating patients.   Higher level doctors will have the chance to aid, examine, diagnose and treat patients. Before a doctor can treat a sick Sim, they must determine a diagnosis. This is done by performing exams, giving X-Rays, or analyzing samples. After enough tests have been run, the doctor will be able to diagnose a patient.   Once a diagnosis has been reached, it can be presented to the patient. Doctors can treat the patient, which may have varying results depending on the career level. More experienced doctors will be able to provide better diagnoses and treatments to their patients.   Sometimes during the workday, emergencies will arise. These can range from an emergency surgery, to giving birth. Doctors should be ready to go when an emergency arrives at the hospital.   Advertisement window['nitroAds'].createAd('np-inpost-lazy-1', { "refreshTime": 30, "renderVisibleOnly": true, "sizes": [ [ "300", "250" ], [ "336", "280" ], [ "320", "50" ], [ "320", "100" ] ] });       Detective Career – Is your Sim super-sleuth?  Or have a knack catching Sims in a lie? Or perhaps just an honest-to-goodness do-gooder? Then join the ranks of Sim’s finest by becoming a detective! Detectives aren’t pencil pushers stuck behind a desk – they have different locations they frequently work in: Police Station, at Crime Scenes, and they can be found patrolling the streets.   The Police Station is the main hub for police and detective activity. There are holding cells for detaining the accused, booking areas to process suspects, and interrogation rooms to…get a confession. There is also a crime lab which is used to gather and analyze clues. And of course, the office area where Sims push paperwork.   Sims in the detective career will have cases assigned to them. Once a case is in hand, the Sim’s jobs is to find and analyze clues that help point to a suspect. Once enough clies are found, the detective can issue APB (from the Crime Map) and start asking around to see if anyone recognizes the suspect’s profile. As arrest can be made if an appropriate Sim is located.   The more clues the detective finds, the more specific the description of the suspect. Finding more clues will also assist detectives during interrogations.   When on-the-job with an active case, detectives can Travel to Crime Scenes to examine the scene of the crime, search for clues, and interview witnesses. Find Travel to Crime Scene on the Crime Map, Police Desk, and when traveling to other regions in the open street.   Sims of the law will patrol the streets on foot. While on patrol, officers can issue citations for littering or fighting, or get to know citizens. The Go On Patrol interactions can be found on the Police Desk, Crime Map, and when clicking in a “travel region” in the open street.         Scientist Career – Does your Sim like to invent things? Well now you can make money by doing it! In the Scientist career you Sim will Conduct research and collect specimens. These will then be used to discover new compounds and devices. YourSim’s creations can lead to new discoveries or inventions!   Scientists work on their own lot, which includes a science lab and has an area for exploration. There are also open areas where other Sims can access. Make sure to watch out for those pesky tourists that come to check out the local park!   As a scientist, your Sim will want to invent new technology. In order to create new inventions, they must do research. When your Sim researches or experiments they will begin to build Breakthrough (identified by a light bulb on interactions). When they have a Breakthrough a new invention or serum will become available to them. These can be viewed in the notebook. (This lesson page has additional text which I forgot to write down)   Scientists can use the Invention Constructor to prototype and build devices they’ve invented. Sims must first have a Breakthrough, then have the appropriate materials to construct devices. Sims who are higher in the scientist career will have a better chance at creating a device that actually works. Scientists can Brainstorm with the constructor, which will help towards the next Breakthrough.   Scientists can also create Serums, which are potion-like concoctions that have wild effects such as curing sicknesses or turning a sim into a ghost. The quality of potion depends on the career level of the scientist. Serums can be crafted and tainted at the Chemistry Lab.   Scientists love to experiment! Who knows where these crazy creations can lead? Mind control Sims, Transform Objects, or maybe even Aliens!   Advertisement window['nitroAds'].createAd('np-inpost-lazy-2', { "refreshTime": 30, "renderVisibleOnly": true, "sizes": [ [ "300", "250" ], [ "336", "280" ], [ "320", "50" ], [ "320", "100" ] ] });       Scientist Breakthroughs – Science is driven forward by breakthroughs. The more a scientist conducts experiments and does research, they will build towards having a breakthrough. Even rudimentary tasks such as brushing a Sim’s teeth can contribute towards a breakthrough.   Interactions that grant breakthrough progress will be marked with a light-bulb icon in the pie menu while the Sim is in the science career. You’ll know you’re progressing towards a breakthrough when a light-bulb appears over the Sim (replacing the plumbob). The light-bulb will slowly build in sections as the Sim gets closer to having a breakthrough. (25%/50%/75%/100%)   You’ll know your Sim has had a breakthrough when a fully illuminated light-bulb appears. Sims experiencing a breakthrough will pull out their phonem, type in some notes, and receive a moodlet. A new craftable or device will become available in the invention Notebook. (Located at the top of the phone menu)         Retail (Store Ownership) – Sims can own a store to sell various items and earn Simoleons. To open a store, use the Phone or Computer and select “Buy Retail Store.” You can buy and existing store, or purchase any unoccupied lot and start from scratch. Better yet, there’s no limit to the number of stores you can own! Retail stores are owned by the household (and not per Sim); as such, you can own a store while maintaining a separate career.   When you first arrive at your store you’ll be asked to transfer some funds to your business to cover basic operating expenses. To learn more about managing your money, read the “Retail – Store Funds” lesson.   You’ll need two things to open a store… a cash register, and something to sell. What you sell is entirely up to you! It can be an item from the Build Mode catalog, something your Sim has crafted, something your Sim has collected out in the world, or you can even dress a mannequin and sell clothing. Once you’ve decided what you’re selling, click on the item and mark it as “For Sale”. Next, click on your cash register and select “Open Store.”   When you open your store, the Retail Store panel will appear on the bottom right corner which contains many helpful shortcuts to running your store. All of the interactions in this panel can also be found on your cash register.   Greet customers that arrive to the store, then use retail socials to encourage them to purchase something. When their purchase intent bar reaches the top they’ll be ready to buy. Read the “Retail – Customers” lesson for more tips on how to effectively sell.   When an object is sold, it will be replaced by a signpost indicating it’s out of stock. You can restock the item yourself at cost (the amount it’s sold for in Buy Mode), or instruct one of your employees to keep the store stocked. There are Retail Perks you can earn that allow you to restock faster, or have restocking cost less money. Read the “Retail – Perks” lesson for more details.   If you decide you no longer want to run your store, you may offload it by using the “Sell Store” interaction on the register while the store is closed. Your store’s funds will be added to the value of the lot and get refunded to your household. Once you’ve sold your store, it will continue to run under new management, and you can visit it in the future as a customer!         Retail (Employees) – Running a business is no small task, but fortunately you can hire employees to offload some work. Select “Manage Employees” on your store’s register to view a list of Sims to hire. Review their skills and their starting pay to determine if they’re a good match for your store. If you don’t like the list of applicants, simply try again later. Once you’ve found someone to hire, you may want to assign them a work uniform.  (This lesson page has additional text which I forgot to write down) Advertisement window['nitroAds'].createAd('np-inpost-lazy-3', { "refreshTime": 30, "renderVisibleOnly": true, "sizes": [ [ "300", "250" ], [ "336", "280" ], [ "320", "50" ], [ "320", "100" ] ] });   Since your Sim is the boss, they can dictate what the employees do during the work shift. The “Assign Work Task” interaction appears when clicking on the employee. They can be instructed to do things such as assisting customers, restocking items, or cleaning the store. Assign a variety of tasks to your employees to make your store run at peak efficiency.   Employees have three different skills that determine how well they work: Sales, Maintenance, and Work Ethic. Sales focuses on how successful they are interacting with customers, and how quickly they can ring up on shoppers who are ready to buy. Maintenance involves how fast employees will restock items and clean. Having a higher Work Ethic reduces the chance that employees will decide to slack off during their shift.   Use the “Manage Employees” interaction on the register to quickly check the status of your employees. You can view their skills and current pay level, and see how satisfied they are with their employment. You can use his panel to give a worthy employee a raise, punish an employee with a demotion, or outright fire a worker who isn’t working out.   An employee’s satisfaction is raised by being paid appropriately for their skill level, receiving praise from the boss, and from positive social interactions. Berating your employees, demoting them, or working them longer than eight hours per shift are just some of the ways to lower their satisfaction. If they get too upset, don’t be surprised when they quit!   While your employees are on the job, be sure to keep an eye on them as they may slack off from time to time. If you catch them playing with their phone, socializing with each other, or goofing around having fun, be sure to select “Berate For Slacking” on them to get them working again. Berating a Sim that was slacking will actually help raise their work ethic skill over time.   As your store becomes more successful, you can unlock the ability to hire additional employees (up to a maximum of three) using your Perk Points. See the “Retail – Perks” lesson for more details. Additionally, any member of your household that’s a teen or older can pitch in and help manage the store.         Retail (Customers) – Customers will enter the store while it’s open, and may choose to buy an item. Customers will consider how much they want to make a purchase and how long they want to spend shopping to determine if they actually buy something before they leave.   The number of customers that visit your store depends on your store’s curb appeal. The types of objects you have on your lot affects your curb appeal, and purchasing advertising can provide a significant boost in foot traffic. Read the “Retail – Curb Appeal” lesson for more information.   The prices set in your store are an important factor in the ease of selling items to customers. If you go for clearance pricing, customers may not need any convincing to make a purchase. If you set your prices to exorbitant though, be ready to spend time applying pressure and go for the hard sale to get them to hand over their money.   A purchase intent bar will show up over a customer’s head while interacting with them which indicates how close they are to purchasing an item. The bar will move when you use retail social interactions on the customer. If it reaches the top, they’ll immediately buy! If not, they still might choose to purchase something when they’re finished shopping.   When using a retail social interaction on a customer, watch the panel in the top center of the screen for context of how interested the customer is. They can be just window shopping, receptive to your sales pitch, or interested in buying. The higher their interest is, the more retail social interactions unlock for you to use on them.   Once a customer is ready to make a purchase, they’ll stand by the item and wave to get your attention. Either your Sim or your employees can ring the customer up to complete the purchase – another satisfied customer! If you leave them waiting too long though, you’ll lose the sale as they give up and leave.         Retail (Curb Appeal) – The number of customers that visit your store is determined by your store’s curb appeal. You can purchase advertising to temporarily increase your curb appeal, or place items like retail signs or neon signs for a more lasting impact. You can check the level of your store’s curb appeal by viewing the Financial Report on the cash register.   To purchase advertising, click on your store’s cash register and select either Web or TV advertising. Each type of advertising can be purchased for a one time upfront fee, and comes in short and long blocks of time. Web advertising provides for a quick spike of customers that fades off towards the end, while a television ad provides a consistent boost of customers over the duration of the campaign.   Signage is another great way to attract customers and boost your curb appeal. There are a variety of retail signs available in the catalog that match a variety of wares. Retail neon signs really catch the attention of Sims as well! Sims with the handiness skill can even upgrade their neon signs to animate or break less often.   Finally, curb appeal is slightly boosted by the contents of your store itself. Simply having a number of items decorating the store will lure some shoppers in. Having a nice variety and amount of items for sale will tempt them to stop by even more.   Advertisement window['nitroAds'].createAd('np-inpost-lazy-4', { "refreshTime": 30, "renderVisibleOnly": true, "sizes": [ [ "300", "250" ], [ "336", "280" ], [ "320", "50" ], [ "320", "100" ] ] });       Retail (Mannequins) – Mannequins allow you to run a clothing store that sells fashions of your own creation. Mannequins are purchased from Build Mode, and can be customized and dressed after they’ve been placed on a the lot. They come in two different styles, and are available for adults and children of each gender.   When mannequins are first places on the lot they don’t arrive with any clothes to sell. Interact with the mannequin to create outfits in Create A Sim, or roll the dice on a random outfit if you’re in a hurry. You can also edit the shape of a mannequin in Create A Sim the same way your would with a Sim.   You can create outfits that are shared between each type of mannequin (Adult Male, Adult Female, Child Male, Child Female) per lot. To create additional outfits in Create A Sim, click on the outfit category, then click on the arrow above the category. Here you can add up to 5 outfits per category, for a grand total of 30 unique outfits.   Once your mannequin is dressed, you’re ready for customers to come try on and purchase your fashions! You can dress the mannequin in outfits you’ve created anytime at no charge, but you will need to pay a fee when restocking your mannequin following a customer’s purchase. You’ll know it’s time to restock when you see the out of stock necklace replace your mannequin’s clothing.   Mannequins do have some limitations to keep in mind. You can have a maximum of 10 per lot, and they can’t exceed 30 outfits per type of mannequin per lot. That means that you can have mannequins on different lots wearing entirely different outfits, but if you move them to be on the same lot, some outfits will be lost in the process so as to not exceed the 30 outfit limit.         Retail (Store Funds) – As a store owner, your store’s funds are tracked separately from your normal household funds. Each store that you own has their own separate finds that are used to cover the store’s expenses. When you visit your store, you can simultaneously view your store’s funds in the Retail Store panel in the bottom right corner, along with your households finds in the bottom left corner.   Every action taken as an owner while at your store uses money from your store’s funds. This includes building on the retail lot, placing objects, restocking items, paying your employees, purchasing advertising, and more. When you enter Build Mode, the money shown in the bottom left corner will switch to display your store funds that you’re building with. Finally, any money you gain from your store’s sales will be deposited to your store funds.   There’s a chance that your store can go into debt if you don’t have enough money to pay your employees, or if you purchase advertising while low on funds. If your store doesn’t have enough money to pay its debts, you won’t be allowed to reopen your store until those debts have been cleared. Transfer money from your household to your store to cover your debts.   At any time you can use the Transfer Retail Funds button neat your household’s money in the bottom left corner to move money between your household and any of the stores that you own. Within this panel you can select the account you’re transferring from and to, and enter the amount of money you want to transfer. Try transferring funds when you need more money to pay for your store’s expenses, or to send the profits from your store back to your household for use at home.   You can click the register and select “View Finances” while the store is open to get a detailed breakdown of your profits and expenses. Use this information to make strategic decisions about your store to help maximize profits.   If you decide to sell your store, any remaining money in the store’s funds will be returned to your household. If the store had a negative balance at the time of sale, money from the value of the lot will be subtracted from the sale to cover your debts.         Retail (Displays) – There are a variety of retail displays and pedestals that you can place in your store to show off your wares. They can be found in the Retail Items section of the Build Catalog while editing your retail store. Some displays are themed for selling particular items; for example, you can easily drag food that you’ve just cooked onto the display shelves without even entering Build Mode.   When an item is placed on a pedestal or display, it is automatically flagged as being “For Sale” as a convenience when setting up your store. If you don’t want an item places on these objects to be sold, simply click on the item and select “Set Not For Sale”. Perishable items that are placed on food displays will take much longer to spoil; making them ideal for creating stores like a bakery.   The Retailer Freezer object is unique. It has an inventory which you can place perishable items inside and then have them be sold to customers. Any item within its inventory will automatically be considered purchasable. As customers purchase items from it, you’ll need to manually restock its inventory. If you visit a store as a customer though, you can purchase as many items from the freezer’s inventory as you desire without it running out of stock.   Displays and pedestals will get dirty over time while the store is open. Be sure to assign an employee to clean the store if things start to get too grungy. Shoppers are more comfortable purchasing from a pleasant retail environment.   Advertisement window['nitroAds'].createAd('np-inpost-lazy-5', { "refreshTime": 30, "renderVisibleOnly": true, "sizes": [ [ "300", "250" ], [ "336", "280" ], [ "320", "50" ], [ "320", "100" ] ] });       Retail (Perks) – Owners of retail stores can earn Perk Points from running their store. Players can use those Perk Points to buy Perks, which in turn, make the store more effective. You’ll find the various Perks withing the Retail Store panel in the bottom right corner of the screen.   There are a wide variety of Perks to choose from. They range from unlocking special retail objects and clothing, to improving your own Sim’s ability to run a successful store, to modifying your customer’s behavior. There are even powerful bonuses like the ability to hire additional employees. Perks that are purchase will be applied to every member of your household.   Some Perks provide a temporary bonus, such as the ability to get a discount on any restocking fees for the remainder of your shift. You can return to purchase these Perks again in the future once your original purchase runs out.   Retail Perks have a direct impact on your store and your household’s Sims that you’re playing. Employees that you hire to work in your store are not affected by the Perks. Instead, employees can be improved separately by building their skills at various retail tasks. You can learn more about that in the “Retail – Employees” lesson.   Earning Perk Points is simple – just have your Sims help out around the store. Interacting with customers, restocking items, and ringing up on a sale will all provide some Perk Points. Employees will not earn Perk Points for you, so get to work!   Perk Name Points Required Placard: My First Simoleon 50 Provocative Pedestal 100 Stunning Sign 150 Snazzy Shirt 200 Register of Tomorrow 250 Superfluous Surplus 300 Additional Employee #1 350 Faster Restocking (small) 400 Faster Checkouts (small) 450 Placard: Fobbs 500 500 Curious Shopper 1000 Mega Manager 1100 Additional Employee #2 1200 Serious Shopper 1300 Faster Checkouts (large) 1400 Faster Restocking (large) 1400 Sure Sale 2000 Slick Salesman 2100 Instant Restocking 2200 Cheaper Restocking 2500       Retail (Copies of Craftables) – It can be a time-consuming task to make items to sell for your Sim’s store. Fortunately, Sims can create copies of craftable objects such as panting, books, woodworking objects, and Photographs. This is useful in the retail career to create new inventory or if you just want to have copies to decorate the house.   To make a copy, select the craftable object and select the Copy interaction. You can then find the copy in the Sim’s inventory. If the object is not allowed in Sim inventory, it will be placed into household inventory. Making copies does cost Simoleons.   Copies of craftables will be lower quality than the original. Making copies of copies will be even lower. Copies sold at retail will not generate as much profit as the original version, but it can help ensure you have a good supply of inventory.         Baking Skill – Baking adds to the cooking system with new recipes and fun ways to dress up your Sim’s baked goods. Sims can bake foods such as cookies, pies, tarts, doughnuts, and specialty cakes.   Baking can be used in the retail system if your Sim wants to run a bakery business. Some essential objects that help sell baked goods include the Cupcake Factory and Warming Rack, which are used to store baked food items. The Cupcake Factory can be used to create small, mass-produced pastry-filled like doughnuts and tarts.   As your Sim progresses in the Baking Skill, they can add toppings, frosting, or piping (at a small Simoleon cost).         Notebook – The Notebook is a handy tool that keeps track of recipes and knowledge that Sims may uncover while playing the game. For example, if your Sim has discovered how to splice 2 plants to make a snapdragon, the Notebook keeps a log of the plants required to make a snapdragon.   The Notebook can be accessed at the top of the phone menu. It will give you a lot of useful information that can be used for crafting and collecting. It tracks recipes and knowledge across a number of skills and careers. Examples are the Science Career, Herbalism Skill, Gardening, and Fishing.   Advertisement window['nitroAds'].createAd('np-inpost-lazy-6', { "refreshTime": 30, "renderVisibleOnly": true, "sizes": [ [ "300", "250" ], [ "336", "280" ], [ "320", "50" ], [ "320", "100" ] ] });       Photography Skill – Sims can take Photos using a camera or cell phone. The more your Sim takes pictures, the more skilled they’ll be at capturing oh-so precious moments.   Taking Photos is a cinch on the phone – under the Entertainment section, there are options to take Photos of objects, other Sims, a Selfie, or a Selfie with another Sim. Sims can also purchase cameras in Build Mode. Certain cameras have more options for taking pictures, such as zooming. To take Photos, place the camera in the Sim’s Inventory, and select the camera for Photo-taking options.   When taking a Photo, the screen enters a first person view. The camera tools allows you to make find adjustments to the shot, such as adjusting camera view (rotation/pitch), zoom, size and aspect, applying filters, and turning flash on/off. But note that some of these options are only available on fancier cameras.   You can do a number of things with Photos taken, such as hanging them on walls, selling them in retail stores, or converting Photos to Memories.   Another useful object for taking pictures is the Photo Studio Object. This allows you to take Photos of up to two Sims using a camera on a tripod. Different types of backdrops can be used to set the mood. This is especially useful for Sims who would like to make a few extra Simoleons by taking quality Photos.   Photos can be converted to Memories using the option Add to Memories on the Photo. Players can tag each of the Sims that appear in the Photo. An emotion can also be associated to the Photo, which will bring back fond memories when Sims choose to reminisce about the Photo.         Sickness – From time to time, Sims of any age can come down with some sickness symptoms. This can range from coughs and stuffy noses to polka dot like skin patterns. Sickness can be contagious – socializing with a sick Sim is a sure way to contract a bug.   When a Sim is sick, they can call in to miss work or school from the phone. If you are feeling brave, you can try calling in sick when your Sim is not sick, but that will only work so many times till the boss catches on.   To get better, Sims should get plenty of sleep, drink orange juice, or order medicine from the Computer. Your Sim should probably not try drinking medicine if NOT sick.         Basements – Basements can be placed as functional rooms below terrain level. In Build Mode, the basement tool can be found under Walls and Empty Rooms. Basements can be placed at ground level by using the Basement tool, or by moving the camera below-ground and placing rooms as normal. Floors and ceilings can also be removed. In order for Sims to access basements, make sure to place some stairs. Since basements are set below terrain, you cannot place windows or doors along the outer walls of the basement. Exterior walls also cannot be deleted. Basements have a ton of new possibilities! Create underground labyrinths, or underground laboratories that are surrounded by pools.         Community Venue Sort – In build Mode, players can easily sort items needed for Venues using Sorting. Under Objects by Function, the default drop down displays all objects that satisfy the specified venue type. Players can also choose to only show Community items. These objects are not required to be in venues, but are generic Venue items. Of course – if you want to just see EVERYTHING – you can do that as well.

How to Travel to Crime Scene in Crime Scene Sims 4

If you are stuck on how to travel to crime scene, you’re in luck. Here are a few tips: Investigate suspects, file evidence, interrogate witnesses, and find clues! Here’s a walkthrough of the most important steps to take in this exciting adventure game:

Table of Contents

Investigate suspects

In Crime Scene Sims 4, a new feature is investigating suspects. You will have the chance to interview witnesses and find clues. You can also investigate a crime scene by taking photos, collecting evidence, and returning to the police station. But before you can investigate suspects, you will need to make sure you are safe. Follow these steps to stay safe in Crime Scene Sims 4.

File evidence

Once you have collected evidence at the crime scene, you must travel to the police station to analyze it. Using the Chemical Analyzer, you must choose evidence from your inventory. If you fail to analyze the evidence, you must file the crime scene evidence on your computer. Fortunately, there is a cheat that allows you to save your progress in this way. If you need to travel to a crime scene quickly, here are a few tips.

The first thing you need to know about the clues is that they aren’t always directly on the floor. Using the Search for Clues command on the floor will show you clues located around your Sim. When you click a clue, it will appear in your note book. By clicking on the crime scene, you can also select a suspect. This person will have similar traits to the one you are looking for, so you can choose him to investigate.

Interrogate witnesses

The crime simulator gives your Sim a unique perspective of the police force by setting up a series of tasks that revolve around interviewing witnesses. You can collect clues, search for evidence, and take pictures of crime scenes. Your police career gives your Sim a reason to care about the other houses. Upon completion of each task, your Sim will return to the police station. This is the first of many challenges and rewards that will come your way.

You can also interrogate witnesses when you travel to crime scenes by selecting a notebook from the phone interface. The notebook allows you to review suspect clues and interact with other Sims. Use “Ask About Suspect” to discover new suspect clues. You can also point out the suspect to other Sims. Some of these witnesses may be aware of the crime but don’t know it. If you find them, you can arrest them.

During the APB event, your Sims can travel to the crime scene by using the map and asking nearby Sims for assistance. These Sims will gesture in the general direction of the suspect or send you in a random direction. The aim is to find the clues and track down the suspect. However, you can still match eyebrow colors with the clues. Here are some tips that can help you in this regard:

In a crime simulation, you have to gather evidence from the crime scene. This evidence is collected on a crime board. You can take photos, dust for fingerprints, and even interview witnesses. However, not all of these clues relate to the case that you are investigating. Some will only be relevant to the next case you’re working on. This means that you’ll need to analyze the evidence and the clues to catch the suspect.

Sims 4 Criminal Career Guide

Sims 4 Criminal Career Guide

Diving into the criminal career in Sims 4 brings a mix of excitement, strategy, and a touch of danger. This guide’s here to break down the criminal path, giving you the lowdown on how to navigate the underworld, boost your skills, and rake in those rewards.

Starting Your Life of Crime

Choosing the life of a criminal for your Sim is pretty easy. Just hit up the Careers panel or whip out your Sim’s phone, and you’re on your way. Your Sim starts off as the neighborhood ‘Tough guy’ or ‘Tough gal,’ ready to stir up some trouble.

Skill Development and Training

Being a bit of a rogue requires some savvy skills, with Mischief leading the charge. As you climb the career ladder and split into the Boss or Oracle branches, you’ll need to brush up on Handiness and Programming too.

The right mood, like feeling Playful or Focused, can seriously speed up your skill leveling. And if you’re feeling extra sneaky, boost those skills even faster by getting your Sim into a “very playful” or “very focused” state. Just watch out – getting too hysterical could end badly for your Sim.

Lot Traits like Convivial for Mischief, Homie for Handiness, or Fast Internet for Programming are also secret weapons for skill building, chopping down training time by a good chunk.

Advancing in the Career

Climbing the ranks in the criminal world isn’t just about being skilled; it’s about playing it smart. Make sure you’re ticking off those daily tasks, keeping things friendly with coworkers, and heading into work feeling upbeat to boost your performance. Though “working hard” seems like a no-brainer for a quick career boost, it can stress out your Sim. Sometimes, laying low or buttering up the boss can be a better move, even if it feels a bit cheeky.

Career Milestones and Rewards

As your Sim gets their hands dirty in the criminal world, they’re going to hit some pretty cool milestones. Right off the bat, at level two, they snag the Espionage set, making their criminal lair look the part. By level three, things get even better with a duffle bag of cash and a nifty pickpocket move that not only boosts their wallet but also their confidence for a solid eight hours. Hit level five, and your Sim is rocking some stylishly shady hats, showing off their criminal rep.

But here’s where it gets real interesting: at level six, you’ve got to make a choice. The criminal career branches out into the Boss or Oracle paths, each with its own vibe and goodies. Going the Boss route? Expect everything from a busted ATM for your hideout to a playful punching bag, and eventually, a killer outfit that screams top dog. Choose the Oracle path, and your Sim dives into the cybercrime scene, scoring tech like a spy satellite, a poster that keeps them sharp, and the sleek Mayhem computer.

Tips and Tricks for the Criminal Career

Living the criminal life in Sims 4 is more than snagging cool stuff; it’s about nailing that outlaw lifestyle. Since crime doesn’t sleep (but happens more at night), balancing your Sim’s schedule is key. Got the Kleptomaniac trait ? Use it. It adds a whole layer of fun to your Sim’s shady activities.

Aspirations matter too. Eyeing the “Public Enemies” goal not only fits the theme but also unlocks the Mastermind trait, giving you even more ways to stir up trouble. And if you’re all about climbing to the top faster, don’t sleep on reward traits like “Connections” and “Entrepreneurial.” These can really speed up your rise in the criminal ranks, assuming you’ve got the points to unlock them.
